“Killitorous already given the widespread success and tech-death scene’s mass awareness of their 2014 debut album, Party, Grind. If not, you missed out, and the band is dropping their second album, The Afterparty, on May 22nd through Tentacle Industries. Only this time the group has expanded their line-up to adopt a triple-guitar attack within a tech-death setting and the results are fucking awesome.” – Metal Injection

“This Canadian death metal band is a party in black wifebeaters. In their video for the aptly-titled “Married With Children,” Killitorous hired a middle-aged woman to get crazy in the pit of a basement show. Excellent work, gentlemen.” – Loudwire

“Well F*ck me lifeless with possibility and throw my rotting corpse down a well with joy; if such an album hasn’t become manifest. It’s here for all to relish in the form of PartyGrind by Canada’s own Killitorous.” – The Circle Pit

“Killitorous Don’t Suck Sh*t” – MetalSucks

Looking to become the band they never saw, Killitorous is comprised of the passion to grind and the general love of technical death metal.

Formed in 2006 in Ottawa, Canada; Killitorous is made up of current and former members of Annihilator, Suffocation, First Fragment and a myriad of other bands. Determined to sound like a combination of their one million favorite death metal bands they envelop technical death metal in an eternal party. A bit cheeky and a metric f*ck ton of fun, Killitorous is that raunchy but charismatic friend who fuels every party.

Killitorous is a chaotic concoction, best described as technical party chaos death grind and it’s a true 90s death metal experience complete with one hell of an AfterParty!

Their latest album “The Afterparty” due out May 22, 2020 via label Tentacles Industries is the follow up to 2014’s “Party, Grind”, which was also co-produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, The Agonist, Shadow of Intent) at The Grid in Montreal, Quebec.

The album features three guitars (which in terms of recording was a nightmare), tons of blast beats, brutal bass and vocals, plus of course tons of movie references, cartoon parodies and endless phrases maintaining the fine art of partying.

The guests on “The Afterparty” are just as you’d expect from a great metal bash that includes Dan Mongrain (Voivod/Martyr), Riley McShane (Allegaeon), Leo Diensthuber (Divine Realm), Cody Ford (Soen), Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Leprous), Youri Raymond (Unhuman), Callum Clark (Ending Tyranny), Paul Ablaze (Blackguard), Matt McGachy (Cryptopsy), Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschlager (ex-Obscura), Gore Lussier (Erimha), Bob Katsionis (Firewind), Steven Henry (Neuraxis).

Brandish your weapons and bare your teeth in the battle for new world order with Montreal’s metal quintet, Demise Of The Crown. They run the gambit from heavy metal to hard rock weaved together with soaring solos reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen with undertones of Yngwie Malmsteen.

The band’s music, written by Manuel Iradian and Darren Beadman, uses standard pop music songwriting skills to hook listeners into the Demise of the Crown’s infectious and melodic metal sound. Iradian writes all the music, then hands it off to Kevin “Kevy Metal” to dress up each song with his high-speed, galloping rhythms, finally, Beadman crafts the anthemic lyrics rousing crowds to chant along with an anarchistic frenzy. Each song is rooted in all basic human emotions; anger, lust, depression, happiness, death, and revenge.

Each member has spent their time paying dues in the local community and they have banded together with the same goal and vision of a band determined to shake the foundation of power metal. The current lineup of Beadman (vocals), Iradian (guitars), Kevin Alexander (drums), Simon Doiron (bass) and Vince Doiron (guitar) has been going strong over the years playing a plethora of gigs in their area and releasing their debut self-titled record in 2016.

Demise of the Crown has garnered a reputation for redefining modern metal with a sound that is a melting pot of styles, including the occasional influences of death metal, components of hard rock, groovy riffs and catchy choruses alongside explosive guitar solos topped off with Beadman’s striking vocal techniques and unique tone.

Influenced by headliners like Nevermore, Avenged Sevenfold, Opeth, Pantera, and Faith No More, the band is working their way up the royal bloodline to cause chaos right alongside their heroes.

Demise of The Crown’s new album “Life In The City” is due out April 24, 2020.

DEMISE OF THE CROWN is:
Darren Beadman – Vocals
Manuel Iradian – Lead Guitarist
Kevin Alexander – Drums
Simon Doiron – Bass
Vince Doiron – Guitar

“I absolutely love great power metal. I also love great progressive as well as traditional metal. Well Canada’s Demise of the Crown combines all those styles like no other band. Imagine Dream Theater, Queensryche and Judas Priest all combining to make one awesome metal album.” – The Dirty Room

“Brandish your weapons and bare your teeth in the battle for new world order with Montreal’s power metal quintet, Demise Of The Crown. They run the gambit from melodic power metal to hard rock weaved together with soaring solos reminiscent of Eddie Van Halen with undertones of Yngwie Malmsteen.” – Maximum Volume Music

“a vulgar display of power; sonic destruction mixed with big riffs that got everyone’s head banging and raising their fists to the air. If you like windmills, this would have been your moment. The whole band played with intensity and dished out a ton of music, something I’ve always respected about metal – it’s far from boring.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (Live Review)

“This Montreal act churn out some pretty decent heavy/groove/rock/power metal stuff and their debut, self-titled, album is out on March 4th.” – Moshville Times

“The opening track of ‘We Are Invincible‘ sets the tone of the album, that the band are going to blast some real in-your-face power prog, and they are going to be relentless in the flurry of notes that comes this way. It’s mid-tempo heavy riffing with fast, technical and melodic solos” – The Metalist

“DOTC are both engineers and alchemists. They take pounding, grinding noise and turn it into precise, melodic power metal with seemingly no effort. The quintet of bearded Canadian gents write superbly catchy riffs and melodic choruses that pick you up and throw you over the back of their horses as they gallop into battle, guitars raised aloft and hair flowing like a viking in a shampoo ad.” – Loud Stuff

“Beautiful Compositions” – The Reckoning Hour

“If you’re looking for vocal deliveries that range from James Hetfield circa 1983 and Phil Anselmo circa 1989, this band has that! We’ll also throw in, at no extra charge, Tom Araya circa 1984! If you’re looking for guitar solos that will melt your face off…They’re here! All the time…Demise of the Crown has everybody in the world covered at all times. They are the United Nations of Metal.” – Glacially Musical

“an interesting release ,full of Progressive curves and face shredding riffs that entertain…Demise of The Crown have a budding future that will hopefully see them get worldwide attention!” – The Metal Gods Meltdown

“A darker power metal band with some great riffs, and a lot of potential…a great debut effort…I think they’ll be a huge deal in the near future. There’s a ton of potential in this band.” – Rock n Reel Reviews

Diamonds On Neptune have their next single to unleash, ‘Erase’, a track that is much more aggressive and is a knockout punch compared to their previous song ‘Catawampus’ released this past December. A fusion of genres, adding elements that can be recognized and interpreted in many ways,  Diamonds On Neptune shuns sonic consistency and embraces sounds that paint a picture of an experience or a sensation that ranges all emotions; fear, anger, paranoia, euphoria, pride, and acceptance. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where they stand, but fans of A Day to Remember, Cane Hill, Billy Talent, and Avenged Sevenfold are sure to take a liking to them.

The band comments:

“This one is a rager, it’s unhinged and animalistic. There is less of a message we are trying to push here and more of a sensation, we hope the crowd will let loose and that chaos will ensue. We get asked about this one a lot and we are very excited to finally be putting it out there.”

Listen to ‘Erase’  HERE.

For those who enjoy the single, take note that Diamonds On Neptune expects to release a steady stream of singles throughout the coming year.

“DIE ANOTHER DAY have just launched a new lyric video for their single “Wild Fire”! This one is a banger.” – The Circle Pit

“As a fan of this style, it pleases me to say that these guys have done an exceptional job at defining this sound. Stitched together with a catchy chorus, and a fast paced, energetic guitar solo to finish the track (Wildfire) off. ” – Uber Rock

“The high-energy newcomers draw from many bands on the metalcore and pop-punk spectrum – A Day To Remember, Thrice, and Atreyu are key influences. Spin the new song ‘Fear The Future’ – we think you’ll dig what the promising young band has going on.” – New Fury Media

“a pristine piece of stylish metal music which will garner appreciation by both the rock and metal crowd. They push the boundaries by mixing numerous genres to achieve originality.” – Boston Rock Radio
“I’d be interested in hearing what else they have to offer as this is a pretty strong showing for a band that formed a few months ago back in the Spring of 2019. They’re off to a great start and I wonder what else they may be hiding.” – The Music Below (August 2019)

Die Another Day is one of Calgary, Canada’s freshest bands. Conceived in the spring of 2019 with a variety of influences, the quartet expands into multiple genres, getting fans excited to embrace different styles of music. Releasing their introductory singles ‘Broken Youth’ during August of 2019 followed by ‘Life To The Max‘ this past February, the band gave a taste of what’s to come from their forthcoming debut EP ‘Wild Fire’ due out April 10, 2020.

Bassist Tyler Johansen explains:

“We wanted to share with the world our more aggressive hard-hitting side of our music. This is an EP that means the world to us as it touches on so many personal notes as well as being our first full outing as a band so we really wanted to come out swinging with this one. It’s exciting to bring more than a single out to share with everyone; we cannot wait to show you all what months of practicing, writing, and recording is going to look and sound like.”

Lyrically, the release is based around emotions that they’ve felt in past experiences of their lives. Some of these songs cover subjects/ moments of band member’s lives that are very personal to them. Some are more based around observations of the state of things around the world. Not necessarily exact ways of how things are, but observations from their point of view.

Johansen adds:

“We really wanted something that will resonate with people or make them think when they’re listening to the lyrics.”

Live, Die Another Day brings a high energy stage show that’s guaranteed to get people off their feet and moving along to the music. From making the crowd become a part of the songs they perform, to diving right in and making themselves a part of the action that’s taking place within the audience, the band isn’t afraid of giving every ounce energy to have a good time with every person in the room.

Fans of aggressive, energetic, melodic, heavy, upbeat bangers in the vein of metalcore and pop-punk plus whom enjoy bands like Atreyu, A Day To Remember, Thrice, Avenged Sevenfold will have no issues putting Die Another Day on repeat.

Track by track explanation by the band:

1. Ignite the Flame

As we were getting ready to go into the studio, I had the idea for an intro track to “Wild Fire.” Just off of the words I had written down, our producer, Jesse, and I threw together the track that we felt best described these lyrics and really gave us the proper introduction into this EP/ first full track.

2. Wild Fire

This is where the head-banging begins. Jared wrote this very aggressive riff and began adding all the extra synth parts that really make the song come together. To us, this is a song that really knocks you off your feet; when that chorus hits the first time, all I could picture was a crowd exploding into this giant mosh pit, and if you aren’t moshing, then those gang vocals will get your voice nice and warm when you join in on the fun. The lyrics are based upon my experience of living in negativity (both physically and mentally.) It becomes draining and tends to send you into a downward spiral. If you were to continue on this path, you’d find yourself losing a lot of relationships with loved ones, and end up really stuck in an endless cycle of burning every bridge/ connection to your life that you’ve made.

3. Razorblades

This has to be one of the most powerful pieces of music I’ve heard Jared write. It really encapsulates the style of music we wanted to go for when writing out this EP. The lyrics are very hard-hitting, and cover a serious subject through his relationship with alcohol which he has chosen to end. You can really feel the struggle that he’s gone through when you listen to the lyrics, and the music perfectly compliments that internal struggle. The amount of work we put into recording this one was another step forward for us too. We didn’t stop writing or working on this even through recording. Every time we stopped while in the studio, it seemed like one of us or Jesse, would have an idea of something to add, whether it was to the vocals or any of the instruments.

4. Green Eyes

Metalcore bands can write love songs, right? This song was probably the biggest collaborative effort for us to write. It’s a lot more progressive than anything we’ve previously worked on, Jared and I wrote these lyrics together (we spent months bouncing lines back and forth to each other,) and it was a lot of fun to get to try so many different things in the studio for some of these sections. We added a couple of sections from the original demo and even our original performance, so it’s really cool to see it change and evolve into the final result from start to finish.

5. Fear The Future

We like listening to different genres and trying them out within our songs. They don’t always pan out, but I think we hit the mark with this one! Jared challenged me to write lyrics like a nu-metal/ rap song I had written for a previous band, and this was the result. The verse is the right tempo that you could probably even change the style/ instruments used to make it a rap song. Still very aggressive, and hard-hitting from start to finish. The style of chords that were chosen in the verse really express the struggle that we talk about in the lyrics, whereas the more resolved sound and feeling through the chorus really ties it together perfectly. I think I definitely put Jared through hell the first week or so of him having to both learn the words as well as learn how to get enough air to scream them at the same time.

6. Poison IV

This song originally just went to the breakdown after the first chorus then ended. It was an attempt to see if we could write a metalcore song that was to be played by a punk band. It uses some slightly different music theory then we’ve ever used before and took a lot of work to really figure out how to blend a couple genres and styles together that we don’t typically use. This one really pushed our boundaries. Lyrically, it covers a situation in my life that is really hard to explain or understand for me, so it’s written from the perspective of someone else through the conversations I had with them about said situation. It also wraps up our EP perfectly through the piano outro that Jesse helped us write and add-in.

Tzimani is comprised of the Vazquez brothers, frontman Eddie does vocals and guitar and Sebastian pummels the drums. Together, the duo have formed an original sound in the burgeoning revival of the new wave of American heavy metal. The ambitious musical project, with focus on twin guitar leads, melodic solos, catchy choruses and a sharp, but raspy vocal technique will make you feel that you are in the middle of the 1980s heavy metal explosion. Tzimani culminates sounds of those of legends, i.e. Guns N’ Roses and Mötley Crüe, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

The duo originally released their self-titled EP in 2018, which is now being re-issued in 2020 by Bonita Steel Records for digital format and Diabolic Might Records for vinyl.

Right of the gate since their inception, the heavy metal brothers have been touring throughout North America, hitting markets across the USA and have ventured into Canada on multiple tours. On their last few runs, Tzimani have shared the stage with national and international touring acts such as Huntress, Scarlet Canary, Final Drive, Joan Ov Arc, Scattered Hamlet, Bewitcher, Mothership, Truck Fighters, and more.

Currently, Tzimani is prepared to embark on its biggest excursion yet, a 27 date tour that will bring the band across the United States and hit sights unknown to the band and continue its foray into Canadian lands yet unconquered.

“Despite sparking synapses associated with a variety of high-octane hard rock and metal birthed in the days of yore, this self titled debut EP genuinely feels fresh-faced. Pull on your leather, put the pedal to the metal, and smell the gasoline …” – Sleeping Village Reviews

“One of the best bands to come out of the San Diego area and another great signing by Metal Assault Management. These tracks fill you with that 70s-80s Heavy Metal you love and need in your life, but it’s updated just enough to give their own flavoring. What makes this even better is that this band is two brothers, Eddie and Sebastian Vazquez. It’s great to see family that gets together for the power of metal. They are going to go far if they are capable of this so early in their career.” – That Drummer Guy

“Considering the relative short time together as Tzimani, it’s easy to gauge the band’s great instincts when it comes to songwriting, performance, and execution. They have all the tools to get the beer flowing and the fists flying high, and that’s the name of the game to building an audience in the metal landscape.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The song [Overdrive] is a thrashing speed demon of a hit, only ever slowing down to release a soaring refrain with a powerful vocal delivery. The guitars are downright filthy in their approach, ripping through solos and arpeggios with ease, not to mention the blistering pace of the verse riff.” – New Noise Magazine

“This was only an EP, can you imagine how their full length will be like? This nice little teaser will have your speed demon wanting more.” – Ugh Metal

Turbo – Fast As Fvck (2020)

For fans of Motorhead, W.A.S.P., Kill Cheerleader, ZZ Top, Black Sabbath

Album Title: Fast as Fvck
Release Date: July 30, 2020
Label: Self-Release
Distribution: Distrokid

Like your dishevelled uncle on Christmas morning, Turbo is trashed, pissed off, sleazy, mean, and sick of your shit.

“Fast as Fvck is a sort of hommage to true rock and roll in its most vicious and visceral form. Each of the seven tracks hit like a swift kick to the teeth from a whole new angle of attack, but the assault is far from a mindless battering to the eardrums. The album ebbs and flows through different moods and subtleties with sophisticated craftsmanship. Metal enough for the heshers, punk enough for the threshers, and rocking enough to satiate the haughtiest of purests; we in Turbo have patented our own “Nitro-Rock” concoction with our debut album… and this shit is potent.”

The album as a whole explained by the band:

Fast as Fvck is a sort of homage to true rock and roll in its most vicious and visceral form. Each of the seven tracks hit like a swift kick to the teeth from a whole new angle of attack, but the assault is far from a mindless battering to the eardrums. The album ebbs and flows through different moods and subtleties with sophisticated craftsmanship. Metal enough for the heshers, punk enough for the threshers, and rocking enough to satiate the haughtiest of purests; we in Turbo have patented our own “Nitro-Rock” concoction with our debut album… and this shit is potent.

Track by track explained by the band:

Burning the Wick is the intro track, and one of the first songs we wrote as a band. The opening lyric, “Been living like a fuckin’ reptile” spells out it’s topic in one succinct line. The song is essentially about how I’ve been living since Turbo was formed up until now, and these somewhat grave, but defiant lyrics are sarcastically juxtaposed on a fun, almost bouncy kind of party-punk-metal anthem. BtW sets up the middle-ground of the band’s sound throughout the rest of the album, and doesn’t give you time to catch your air before kicking into…

Alive, which is more or less a written testament to bad decisions with one of the most badass riffs on the album slapped on top of it. The song features a call-and-response guitar harmony and an anthemic chorus. There’s not too much more to say on it apart from being among the most fun songs on the album; definitely, one to do a keg stand along to.

Living on the Line is where the album starts to take a darker turn for a bit, and starts off with our best attempt at a THX sound-test with electric guitars, which feedback its way into a glitzy sunset-over-a-bad-part-of-town type riff. The song kicks in with me essentially turning my own lungs into sand, and then we’re straight cruising from there on out. The subject matter is actually about a good friend of mine who is a sex worker for a living. She got into a bit of a dicey situation at a party she was dancing at while I was trying to write lyrics for this one – getting threatened at gunpoint if she didn’t do certain things and whatnot. Super scary stuff. Perfect lyrical content. So I decided to immortalize that side of the industry lyrically, and thankfully she was a really good sport about it.

Silver Spoon is a real ripper and comes out of the gate wide-eyed with its teeth bared. It’d be insulting to tell you we all took a cue from our harder-metal roots for this one, it’s kind of obvious. It certainly still has that hard-rocking punky fun Turbo aesthetic, but it’s certainly tenser in its approach. We all come from very much a “from the ground-up” kind of background – cut from a somewhat rougher cloth. So it’s essentially a big middle finger to anyone with everything gifted to them trying to tell you how to live your life… and it’s pissed!

Make Bail is the first song we wrote. Sylvain and I were both breaking up with girls in pretty messy breakups, and it seemed appropriate that we test the band’s sound with a semi-poppy 4-minute-cruiser about it. The song is quite snarky, and honestly kind of savage, but I still stand by every word ahaha.

Last Call is the inner monologue of every bartender in every bar as soon as the lights come on and they just want to go home. Sylvain and I had just finished bartending a local rock-and-roll pub at the time and figured the idea was funny enough to actually run with. Musically speaking, the song is crunchy as all hell, has a great trade-off solo section, and definitely deserves a drink in each hand. Enjoy!

Serpent’s Coil is the ballad of the album – if you can call it that – and is certainly the most musically adventurous of the album’s pieces. We aren’t huge fans of love songs, so we didn’t want a Turbo ballad to be too gushy. So undertaking writing this piece, I decided to go for a much more sinister theme, and we think it fits beautifully. The song uses diabolical imagery, with a sound that mixes 80’s metal with rock and black metal elements, and a super catchy chorus. Definitely a fitting reprieve and end to an already pummelling album.

Like your disheveled uncle on Christmas morning, Turbo is trashed, pissed off, sleazy, mean, and sick of your shit. Coming at you hard and fast from the east coast of Canada, rages Turbo. An eclectic mix of rock, punk, and metal, this is what would happen if nitroglycerin had a soundtrack. High impact is the name of the game for them and they are bringing the grit to listeners around the world.

The members of Turbo, who were all in separate bands at the time, came together with the motivation to create something bigger and badder. Something that was gonna grab things right by the cojones and give them a good shake. Evan Frizzle (vocalist/guitar) and Sylvain Coderre (drums) were looking to start up a project, and when they met Lindsey Dicks (guitar) the juices started flowing. Todd Stanley (bass) held the same “Take No Prisoners” vision and immediately joined the fray. The musical influences cited by the band span across the heavy music spectrum, which results in an original, aggressive and varied listening experience.

With 100% collaborative effort, the themes that fuel Turbo lyrics revolve around personal experiences or things that just come up while they’re writing the music to a particular piece. The focus is that all the bandmates are able to relate to everything they sing about. It’s real, edgy, and visceral.

The highly potent debut album “Fast as Fvck” is on the way for 2020; metal enough for the heshers, punk enough for the threshers, and rocking enough to satiate the haughtiest of purests; welcome to Turbo’s patented “Nitro-Rock”.

“Another grunge-inspired stoner rock ‘n’ roll track now with BADGUYSWIN and their debut ‘Needle Beach’, combining Ozzy-like vocals with the kind of riffs you’d see Orange Goblin churning out through their career… quite the way to introduce themselves!” – Uber Rock UK

“Due out on April 10th, the guys are ready to unleash their debut full-length, Cowards, tailor-made to give you a different listening experience with each of the record’s twelve tracks. Grunge rock may be a distant spec in the musical rearview mirror, but it’s comforting to know that bands such as BADGUYSWIN are carrying on the tradition of that legendary era.” – V13

“BADGUYSWIN calls back to the Stoner Rock and Grunge sounds of their youth.” Ghost Cult Mag

““Honey Bucket” is the dark, rock single to set the tone for your weekend.” – New Noise Mag

“Cowards is chock full of sublime punked up riffs and harmonies such as “Fly On the Wall” as well as percussive masterpieces in “Lowlifer” and “Coal”. The lyrics speak out to the listener. For example, “Honey Bucket” is about alcoholism and addiction… Cowards provides a perfect feeling of leaves-you-wanting-more. Each song is constructed for maximum appeal with stunning fretwork, exemplary percussion and bass and vocals a bit on the higher range but certainly fitting. With Badguyswin, there is so much to rock out to here.” – Boston Rock Radio

“les nostalgiques de la lourdeur du Grunge 90’s de l’Ouest américain seront ravis de se mettre cet album en boucle ” – La Grosse Radio

Nirvana and Soundgarden may be no more, but the members of Canada’s BADGUYSWIN are here to serve up your guilty pleasure for an era of rock n’ roll that’s knocking on doors and making its comeback. Heavy driven grunge-inspired loud amps, blended with clean vocals, plentiful harmonies and driving rhythms are what fuels this Grand Forks, BC band to keep things stuck in your head for days to come!

Featuring 3 out of 4 members from technical metal band Slagduster, BADGUYSWIN shows off their original roots in music, the grunge era of the 90s where they would glue themselves to the stereo for hours. The members of BADGUYSWIN also all grew up together in the same small town and have been playing music together in various ways for 15 years.

The band’s debut full length “Cowards” was written to give the listener an experience that doesn’t repeat itself over 12 tracks.

“Nearly one-hour long adventure ready to be enjoyed through you’re headphones in a beanbag chair or blasted from the speakers of your 93′ Honda Civic.” says vocalist/guitarist Shane Sherman.

The album is a heavy and hooky modern take on a classic sound with influences that are everything 90’s in grunge, stoner, alternative, and punk. It was conceived organically, performed and recorded DIY style at the home studio of drummer Zak Waterlow with mastering by Brock McFarlane of CPS studios in Vancouver. The album has a crisp and larger than life sound. With plenty of easter eggs that’ll have you searching for more from each listen.

Vocalist/guitarist Shane Sherman adds:

“We have worked tirelessly over the last year writing, tweaking and recording our first release and we’re just quivering with anticipation to share with the world our modern take on grunge rock. If you’ve been pining for a record that gives you raw and heavy tunes with harmony and hooks we have got you covered.

After years of writing complex and intricate music, members of Slagduster embrace their musical roots and write a rock record that defies decades. Taking a more minimalistic approach, we’ve dropped the screaming and puzzling time signatures to create a sound that beckons back to a time when songwriting was key.

With influences ranging from Soundgarden to Queens Of The Stone Age and everything else in between, we are ready to deliver to this newborn puppy of hard rock that even the coldest of plaid wearing hipsters can enjoy.

We have crafted a record that we hope listeners will enjoy from start to finish. Each song placed in an order we feel will truly take the passenger on a sonic personal journey.”

“Cowards” is set for release on April 10, 2020 and will be available on all digital platforms for stream and download along with physical CDs having limited edition artwork painted by Shane Sherman. Each song’s lyrical content revolves around a story and a main character. A painting was depicted for each persona.

Track by track explanation by the band:

1. Like A Sailor: Misleading intro, steady driving rock song with ambient Outro. About a person with a secret.
2. Low Lifer:  Palindrome song structure. Lots of fast thumping tom action. Staccato guitar licks. Failing at bettering yourself in spite of trying.
3. Honey Bucket: Southern shuffle beat. Spanish style riffs within a bluesy feel. Highs and lows of an addiction.
5. Between Hook And Hole: Marching tempo, ethereal leads, big anthemic chorus. Desperate actions for desperate measures.
6. Fly On The Wall: Hardcore punk riff to start. Poly rhythm bridge and old-timey lead ending. Finally understanding someone’s true personality.
7. Coal: Percussive and heavy. Sing along chorus. Working hard for something and achieving nothing.
8. August 8th: Melodramatic ballad. Tracing all your problems to a specific origin.
9. Needle Beach: Southern swing driven by the bass and kick drum. A common place to indulge and wallow.
10. Legends Of The Wheel: Fast tempo punk feel. Incompetent people getting a pass.
11. Under It All: Dynamic hook oriented slow burner. Accepting what you have lost.
12. Central: Heavy and in your face. Pinnacle outro. An Exclamation! mark on the end of the album. Embracing and justifying living a cowardly lifestyle.

Bio:

[EVERTRAPPED] is a Montreal-based five-piece who have been bringing beautifully relentless brutal melodic death metal to audiences since 2007. The band’s name is intentionally written with enclosed brackets to signify the trappings of modern life for all of us and how people, despite their best attempts to break out of the mold are still affixed to a simple controlled existence and futility.

Members of the band bring together their collective experience from the Montreal metal scene to create their heavy brand of melodic death metal. The guitarists Frederick Dupuis (ex-Daggerfalls) and Vincent Benoit hammer out raw guitar while drummer Eric Lemire (ex-Apocalypsys, ex-Ice Castle) pummels the drums. Their versatile frontman James Brookes (ex-Ammonia, ex-One Final Moment, Continuum) easily alternates between strong clear vocals and low bellowing screams giving listeners the illusion of more than one vocalist. John Yates (ex-AraPacis) weaves together each song with his driving bass lines to keep the energy of the punishing track at an all-time high.

Their lyrics come from two places. One from the dark and exaggerated metaphors for things actually based on personal events. The other is lyrics that are only loosely based in reality and have an almost fantasy-like appeal. Sometimes the reality can be based on what could be the actual state of the world as it is or an image of a future where the world is on the brink of an apocalypse. The overall idea is that the lyrics are not meant to be understood at face value in any way. It’s an art form that’s open to interpretation by the listener.

Set to unleash their 4th studio album “The Last Extinction” on May 22nd, 2020, the full length showcases the band’s darkest almost apocalyptic overtone compared to previous releases.

Vocalist James Brookes comments:

“Our new album ‘Last Extinction’ is almost an amalgamation of what we did on “The Anomaly” (2012) and “Under The Deep” (2015). On “The Anomaly” there was room for some clear vocals and it had an overall softer sound (within the confines of death metal) whereas “Under The Deep” went straight for the throat with very little room to stop and breathe and no clean vocals at all. Either way works just fine, but this new album “The Last Extinction” offers both of these aspects. When it gets heavy, it gets really heavy but there are plenty of parts that open up and give way to clear vocals or a nice blend of gutturals and clean and in some cases, some types of riffs that [Evertrapped] has never really experimented with before. Each song takes the listener on a quasi-progressive death metal adventure, but every now and then keeps coming back to simpler catchy riffs made for some hardcore headbanging.”

With influences ranging from death metal to melodic death primarily, along with some classic thrash and speed metal, which explains their technicality and diversity sonically, the album overall will give fans a very heavy post-apocalypse feel. It’s meant to mix the dark and light of the end of all things. Fans of Arch Enemy, Persefone, Whitechapel, Death and Fleshgod Apocalypse will feel the whirlwind of aggression.

Live, the band always brings two things to the stage, a high caliber of visual interaction (risers, lights, screens, smoke machine, the works ) and playing tight like a sealed hell’s gate.

Track by track explanation by the band:

Sorrow (Nothing More In Between)

Sorrow would have to be the song that touches the most on a personal situation. The lyrics are of course written in a way to make a small personal thing sound like a colossal epic event, but is realistically about being on the receiving end (or lack thereof) of a connection between two people where one knows they aren’t giving enough yet persist, none the less to make it seems like all is well on the surface all the while knowing that underneath, it isn’t and leaves everything in an unwelcome grey area. And as a result of which one is left in the dark and can’t help but overstate how there is a light of sorts that’s now been left behind or abandoned.

Truth Behind Disorder

This song is written almost as a story that explores the negative effects of oppression towards advanced thinking. For the most part, more specifically, the oppression of organized religious groups. As the chorus of the song mentions ‘holy men,’ it kind of gives it away. But mostly depicts said negative effects as being the truth behind why the world, in some cases, is in such chaos. And the story ends with a conclusion suggesting one school of thought that if this is allowed to continue, and in this case suggests that if we continue this way, well you might as well give up now and be prepared to watch half the world burn because that’s the more likely outcome.

Across The Disease

This focuses more on the human impact on the planet. Now, this is by no means a pro-green statement that I’m trying to make. It simply depicts the inevitable outcome of our effect on the planet as it stands now. The effect, of course, being a rather bleak and hazardous one that can only lead to annihilation no matter how hard we try to fix it. It even ends with a warning that something wicked is coming. The warning is not meant to say, better be careful or we’re all doomed. It’s meant to say, brace yourself because the last event that wipes us all out is on its way whether you like it or not.

Titan

This is actually an homage to the Mad Titan himself. Being a big fan of most things Marvel, this is actually written about the character Thanos and his actions during the Infinity War series. Essentially, his rationale being that there are simply too many beings in the universe and not enough to go around. So the solution…find a way to wipe half of life randomly and dispassionately. So the song keeps with the end times type theme, but in this case, focused on one fictional character and begs the question, what do we do when the bad guy wins? And furthermore, when there is perhaps a justified logic to it?

The First Machine

This song is one of a two-part series on the album (followed by The Last Extinction). The idea here is yet another point of view of how we could doom ourselves and this case through the overuse of machines that would one day take us over. We would, therefore, become the dying species and machines could inherit the earth. It also goes on to say how those responsible would clearly have to be cold and soulless individuals not to see the possible outcome and the only way we could avoid this would be to follow our natural instincts that may prohibit progress in this particular field but doesn’t open the door to possible extinction.

The Last Extinction

This being the follow up to The First Machine goes further to the point where humanity is at the brink of its own destruction. It makes the listener feel like the people left have gone so far past the point of no return that at that point they almost want it to end. To see what comes next, if anything. The setting is that of a dark world at the end of our evolutionary stage in a world being more rapidly consumed by the shadows and darkness of the rest of the universe and now ready for its next stage of planetary evolution even if it’s a mechanical one.

Illusion

This is probably the simplest one in terms of how it’s written. It doesn’t go too far in-depth about anything really, it’s almost like an overview of the theme of the album so far. It simply explains how humanity has lived in the illusion that everything’s just fine when it clearly isn’t. And if everyone simply woke up and looked around they’d see that everything’s going to take a nose dive one day and the results won’t be pretty. But it goes on to depict how it’s ultimately too late anyway so one can only wonder if it’s even worth waking up to this reality at this point.

Stillborn Era

This song was originally a track of the first Evertrapped album Tales From The Supermax (which I was not a part of) however it’s been totally re-written. The music is still the same only re-recorded from scratch but the lyrics re-done except the title which we kept. I really didn’t take anything at all from the original lyrics. The overall theme here is once again another point of view of our own destruction only this time the more plausible one which is breeding ourselves into extinction. It shows how it’s one thing to simply want your race to continue propagating itself but you have to start looking on the other hand how it’s actually gotten out of hand. We continue to breed exponentially on a planet that can’t sustain it. And this is possibly the biggest blinder pulled over people’s eyes, and it’s written in a way that says, well if this is what you wanted then here are the consequences.

Learning To Kill

This song is a follow up to Learning To Die from The Anomaly. This is the one song that breaks away a bit from the overall theme of the album and deals more with dark introspection and the nature of obsession. However, it is none the less written in a somewhat abstract way and the metaphors used still keep it within the great darkened world that this album tries to create. It summarizes how following Learning To Die, if death no longer bothers someone then what other dark and terrible things could also no longer bother a person like that. In other words, could the ability to no longer feel make a person feel invulnerable.

Josh Stever aka Asbestos Worker keeps his hits coming with the release of his first full length “Dead End Town” via No List Records.

With very little time out of his personal life and career, Asbestos Worker is a solo project created out of necessity. It’s aggressive unrelenting rock that was first debut in March 2019 with the EP “My New Vision – A manifesto on how to forcibly seize power and eradicate sadness across the globe”. Not wasting any time, in just under a year, his latest release, the full length “Dead End Town” was unleashed to kick off 2020. Asbestos Worker’s goal is to create a loud, thought-provoking and relatable noise rock experience. With influences from grindcore as well as punk and thrash, the madness is 11 tracks of muscular hate rock for everyone sick of something, the perfect soundtrack for getting laid off from the steel mill.

Stever adds:

“Music has always been my therapist. So my songs have a never ending supply of things I have to get off my chest. Whether that be my own fears and insecurities and depression, or it could be the everyday irritations that we all face or the various social and political issues that might be pissing me off at the time. I guess you could say the world we live in is what inspires my lyrics and tunes. It’s also been a dream of mine to make a record since I was a kid and let’s face it, not many people ever realize their biggest dreams. And I was able to write the record all the music myself.”

When it comes time to doing live sets, the band consists of ⅔ of the band Tongue Party (Adam And Brandon Hile) on drums and guitar and Luke Gutting (former bassist for Tongue Party, current bassist for the band Cola Horse).

“Dead End Town” was released on January 23, 2020 and is available from No List Records.

Track by track explained by Asbestos Worker:
1. Over Analytical – This song was written at the end of one of the darkest times in my life. It was written on a night laying in bed unable to sleep because I was too busy thinking about the futility of life.
2. The Inconvenient Truth – The Inconvenient Truth is, in my opinion, that the majority of people have a lot to bitch about in this world. And those people are too lazy or lack the conviction to do anything about it.
3. Dead End Town – I live in east St. Paul, Minnesota. Which unfortunately is the greatest place in this state to live. In fact St. Paul sucks!
4. Defeatist – I wrote and dedicate this song to every nihilist troll who instead of doing anything useful with his life decides since there’s no point in this life he might as well make everyone else as miserable as possible.
5. Resting Bitch Face – I have one of those faces that if I’m not smiling I look like I want to murder someone. Even if I’m happy.
6. Thank You May I Have Another – Sometimes people stay in abusive relationships because they think they deserve it.
7. Burdened By Regrets – Also at the tail end of my darkest hour. I was as the title say Burdened By Regrets
8. Responsible Adult – I have 2 kids and know who I am and how the world perceived me. I really am amazed that I was allowed to have children.
9. Deadlock – I feel that at this point in history we as a species are deadlocked in a battle between ignorance and intelligence. All that’s at stake is our lives and our planet.
10. The Definition Of Asshole Is A Picture Of You – This one is dedicated to all the alt-right, neo-nazi assholes out there
11. Let’s Take This Outside – I work in construction and I was on a job last year where a guy who couldn’t punch his way out of a wet paper bag threatened to hit me with a small broom. All because I walked through an area He didn’t want me to but had forgotten to put up a barricade.

Fun Facts:
1. Josh Stever came up with the Asbestos Worker name because of his job. He’s a mechanical insulator by trade and the union is the heat and frost insulators and asbestos workers. He was trying to come up with something dark and ominous but everything else he came up with seemed contrived and cheesy.

2. This record and the EP before it were written and recorded between January – July. of last year. While also trying to teach himself how to play drums and how to record. And most of it was recorded while his daughter’s were sleeping in the room right above him. He uses 15 and 20-watt amps.

3. The main guitar riff for “The Definition Of Asshole Is A Picture Of You “was written 24 years ago when he was still in high school. He’s never forgotten it, but never got a chance to use it.

Driving like a jackhammer into your fucking teeth, tracks like “Deadlock” are as precise as Tar and hit like a bag of concrete dropped on your skull. Lakeman has a devoted cult-like following throughout the Okanagan Valley and British Columbia. The band’s long-form instrumental and genre-bending approach beckons audiences of various musical forms. They revel in the band’s ability to exchange instruments everything from drums to guitars, bass, keyboards, synthesizers and lately even the fiddle and banjo. All this happens while the music continues seamlessly through ambient soundscapes.

The overall theme of the band is a sonic meditation of the veiled and macabre history of the Okanagan valley. The group finds their sound in a deeply collaborative approach, very little composition is done apart, and there is no “songwriter”. The band starts the compositions by first improvising together, the feel of each improvisation can be vastly different based on who is playing which instrument. As mentioned earlier the band does not have assigned instrument roles as most other bands traditionally do. You can find any one of the members doing anything from turning knobs on a synthesizer to singing into a violin before they started bowing it. After finding the improvisation the band likes, they then begin the long process of composing around this initial improvisation. Once a Lakeman piece of music starts to take form the band will start considering a local myth or legend to devote the theme to, this deepens the band’s thematic composition. This is when the piece will usually take its final or close to its final form.

In the fall of 2015 the band filmed their first and only song at the time, clocking in at over 35 minutes long, they named it “N’ha-a-itk”. It was filmed and edited by Chelsea Mcevoy. Audio engineering, mixing, and mastering of the song was recorded by Mike Pederson at the much-praised music city studio.  The band wanted to name their first release after the mythical serpent creature of Lake Okanagan. Locals refer to the mysterious animal as the “ogopogo”, but the members of Lakeman wanted to honour its true name of the Sylix first nations people “N’ha-a-itk”. While no members of the Sylix people spoke out about the band using the traditional name some well-meaning community members claimed Lakeman was unjustly culturally appropriating the traditional name. After a long amount of consideration, the band dropped the name “N’ha-a-itk” and renamed the piece “Self-Titled”.

Sections of “Self-Titled” were featured by peach city radio, Kootenay Co-op Radio, and dozens of online blogs across the province. The band was quickly noticed by music festivals across the province and revered as a premier live performance. Word quickly spread and the band grew popular with regional music supporters.

Lakeman has graced stages around the province since 2015. The band has been a part of a wide variety of festival since that time: Turn it up/Tune it down(2018), Artsrising (2017), Artswells(2017), Hi-Society(2017 & 2016).

Lakeman’s 2nd audio-visual release “Progenitor” was released on November 29th, 2019.  The EP’s title “Progenitor” suggests a theme of fatherhood. The first single is titled “Powers Creek” is based off a local legend of an apparition of a father who died trying to find his missing daughter in the Powers Creek area. “+25,000 Hectares” and is an auditory interpretation of the devastating fires that sweep through the Okanagan Valley on an annual basis. The final track is simply titled “Pandosy”, this track is a musical contemplation of a darker side of Kelowna’s founding father: Father Jean-Charles Pandosy.

During the writing and release of this “Progenitor” EP, 3 of the 4 members of Lakeman have become new fathers.

Robert McLaren states:

“In a time when masculinity is deeply culturally examined, we too find ourselves asking what kind of fathers will we be? As we examine the themes of the valley’s symbolic masculinity and paternity, we are able to question ourselves subjectively through the art we intuitively create.”

“Progenitor” was recorded/engineered by Kaylub Burke at the Center for Arts and Technology with mixing and mastering by Andy Ashley. Visual elements were filmed and edited by Jonathan Robinson, and lighting was operated by Joshua Goodwin.

The album art for this release is individual, one of a kind acrylic pours for both CDs and Vinyl.

Last year the band recorded what will most likely be the last of their pieces of work. No official date has been set for this last currently untitled release. The band does not wish to comment on the reasons for this end, but are forever grateful for the love and support of their friends, family, and fans.
