Evilheart was formed in 1999 in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. On July 13, 2001 the band released its first demo “Summoned To War.” In 2003 after major lineup changes the band recorded its first album “Dark In Glory” which was released on May 3, 2004. In the next few years Evilheart shared the stage with international acts like Dimmu Borgir, Amon Amarth, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Asesino, Cellador, Behemoth and Sothis, as well with recognized Mexican bands like Hacavitz, Sarcoma, Solitude, Black Torment, and Disgorge.

In 2007 after some lineup changes the band recorded it second album “Storm Of Annihilation” which was mixed and mastered at Mana Studios in Florida, USA by Brian Elliott and the cover of the album was designed by Niklas Sundin. The album was released on December 14. During the support of “Storm Of Annihilation,” Evilheart shared the stage with international acts like Behemoth, Cage, Hypocrisy and Havok, as well with recognized Mexican bands like Evil Entourage, Here Comes The Kraken, Piraña, The Forensic, Alfa Eridano Akhernar, Rapture and Orcus O Dis. Also the band released its first video “Storm Of Annihilation,” recorded the song “Severance” for the tribute album “The Gloomy Rites To The Cenotaph” to the legendary Mexican band Cenotaph and did its first European Tour which included Germany, Slovakia and Czech Republic in March 2011.

In 2012 Evilheart started to record its third album “Quinquaginta” (Latin for “Fifty”) which was once again mixed and mastered at Mana Studios in Florida, USA by Brian Elliott and the cover of the album designed by Niklas Sundin. After a lot of problems and setbacks the album was released on October 17, 2014, and was preceded by the release of the video “Selective Extermination.” The touring cycle for “Quinquaginta” started on December 6 with a special show, with Mexican band Zombiefication, in which the band performed the new album on its entirety. Evilheart is currently preparing a video for the song “Postmortal Corruption” and looking to play as much shows as possible abroad.

Delivering relentless brutal melodic death metal since 2007, [EVERTRAPPED]intentionally wrote their band name with enclosed brackets to signify the trappings of modern life for all of us and how people, despite their best attempts to break out of the mold are still affixed to a simple controlled existence and futility.

Members of the band bring together their collective experience from the Montreal metal scene to create their heavy brand of death metal. The guitarists Frederick Dupuis (ex-Daggerfalls) and Vincent Benoit hammer out raw guitar while drummer Eric Lemire (ex-Apocalypsys, ex-Ice Castle) pummels the drums. Their versatile frontman James Brookes (ex-Ammonia, ex-One Final Moment, Continuum) easily alternates between strong clear vocals and low bellowing screams giving listeners the illusion of more than one vocalist. John Yates (ex-AraPacis) weaves together each song with his driving bass lines to keep the punishing tracks energy at an all time high.

Lyrics are intentionally slightly abstract to lure fans to draw their own conclusions despite a perceived understanding of the tracks. Themes for the music revolve around personal turmoil and even stringing together the image of a future where the world is on the brink of an apocalypse.

The band’s influences range from Death Metal to Melodic Death primarily, along with some classic thrash and speed metal, which explains their technicality and diversity sonically. Live, the band is a whirlwind of aggression and sonically abrasive, yet sporadically melodic vocally and instrumentally.

About the album and track by track explained by Evertrapped.

Under The Deep is an exploration of the deepest reaches of human madness. Not clinical madness, but simply the darkest regions of the soul and the blackest part of the human heart from a mind found to be socially functional, but is really way too far gone. And thus it seeks to explore what is underneath the deepest depth, hence no matter how deep you descend there’s always another layer that can be torn away.

Arise From The Ashes: A depiction of someone who has actually reached the bottom, so their rise from there so to speak. Like the king of their own universe broken by all clawing it’s back but fueled by an ever consuming hatred.

Underneath The Deep: A personal look at how a person can only be fucked up by someone else for too long until they break. But this takes you to a point where you now can’t come back.

Palace Of Injustice: A stab at anyone blinded by the indoctrination of any institution and their ultimate demise that likely follows due to their ignorance towards it. However, it does aim more at the disgust of the institutions themselves and not so much the ignorance of the people.

Hypnotized By Hatred: Another personal reflection, but in this case more a person who has been made to believe that all they do is wrong. So it brings up the sense where if you tell someone enough times that they are shit, then eventually they will just believe it. And in this case someone who becomes a very dark god loathing individual because it takes them to a point where they think it’s hysterical.

Blood Of The Fallen: This is set in a horror like context although it not some zombie tribute. It simply laughs at how we place so much importance on the memory of the dead yet never bat an eye at the reality of human suffering which we ourselves cause.

Lethal District: Somewhat of a post apocalyptic view of the surviving factions of humanity that instill themselves as the powers that be, and thus cast out the unclean, unworthy, and so forth. And therefore it sheds light on the madness and revolt of the unwanted.

Burning Through Vengeance: This is a straight up rebel song. A certain arrogant fuck you to a society that rejects you, but you still know that you know better than them. So instead you’ll bide your time and watch them hilariously screw themselves over.

Reaper: As the title suggests, an end of the line type song. In a certain way captures the essence of[EVERTRAPPED] in terms of the inescapable event that is death.

Embrace The End: This also goes more or less as the title suggests. This is another song for the apocalypse but more at the actual hour of the end itself. A look at almost coming to terms with the fact that it was likely the fault of humanity and embracing the acceptance of such evil.

Vancouver, BC’s SAINTS of DEATH (a name inspired by the Mexican folklore of Santa Muerte (Spanish for Holy Death)) is a four piece that originally began as a Motorhead tribute band that has now taken the reins to write original material with a double bassist attack and set themselves apart from the pack with their unique heavy sound of thrash, doom and hardcore metal.

Fronted by vocalist and eight string bassist Twan Holliday, a giant standing nearly 7’ foot tall who can also be recognized for his acting credits in some well-known Hollywood movies and pro wrestling (credits below) is joined by four string bassist Darren Morris, guitarist Phil Henri and Christopher James on drums to complete a ferocious line up that will be unleashing their self-titled debut EP on September 25th.

Taking their experiences from past bands (Snaggletooth, Scissortooth, Dead End Ascension, Skookum, My Own Chaos, Luciferian Conquest, Torrential Pain, Tides of Honor and Annora), SAINTS OF DEATH are veteran musicians of the Vancouver scene ready to debut their self-titled EP this September 25, 2015 to introduce metal fans to a new sound coming from the Canadian West coast.

“We think this EP should be listened to with open ears. Breaking the mold of typical sub-genre based metal, we try to cover all types of metal with lyrical content aimed at the problems with today’s government, moral value, and the supernatural occult. We think it should be received as another solid attempt to raise awareness of the wrongs of society and another conscience effort to make change along with wanting new fans to listen to our music and enjoy the quality of musicianship, engineering and lyrical content. 1. Army of the Dead: This song is written from the perspective of a Viking in battle. Its underlying message is about the battle of life. “Everyone’s born, everyone dies”, we fight hard and strong, live, laugh, love and when it’s our time to die, we die!

3. Blood Vendetta: This song is written about blood vendettas around the world. It’s about people being born into war, and fighting wars started by generations before them in order of gaining redemption for their lost family.

4. Revolution: This song is about unity and standing up for what is right! It’s a call to people everywhere to join together and fight for their rights and what’s right through Revolution.

5. Angels and Demons: This song is written about an old man on his deathbed. Not happy with his life he struggles though a battle between the right and wrong he has done and who will take possession of his soul; angels or demons.

Fun Fact: Besides being a musician vocalist / bassist Twan Holliday has acting credits for movies American Mary (2012), The Devils Ground (2009) w/ Darryl Hanna, Stan Helsing (2009) (Leslie Neielson’s last movie), Catwoman (2004) w/ Halle Barry, Psych (TV Show) plus has done stunts on Super Natural (TV Show) and Pathfinder (2007). Twan was also a pro hard-core wrestler of 10 years and was on TV every Saturday at 1pm on KVOS TV12 (Bellingham, WA) plus was asked to train for WWE.

With the artwork as well, we wanted it portrayed in such fashion that it plays out the story being told from the Outbreak record to this new record, which is basically a devastating virus that has been unleashed upon mankind, terrorizing and annihilating everything in its path, “Dust of Existence” is the aftermath of these events. Nothing left but scattered remains of what was once there. ” comments guitarist Sean Watson.

With a few of the tracks on the record written during the “Outbreak of Infection” recording sessions, which the band felt weren’t quite ready at the time to be recorded. During this writing session for “Dust of Existence”, DISPLAY OF DECAY especially tried to make sure each and every song was very diverse from the rest of the tracks.

Watson explains.

“We didn’t want it to feel as though there was any formula or predictability going on. We find that far too many metal bands form a niche that is their “go-to” when it comes to writing, and that it becomes a predictable comfort-zone that can make a record feel as though the same track is being played from start to finish and really make the listener feel completely disengaged from what is actually being played in front of them. We like to throw whatever change-ups or fills in that I can to really make the listener that much more integrated into the tracks.”

Track by Track – ‘Dust of Existence’:

1. Created to Kill – When DISPLAY OF DECAY approached the writing of this song, they were originally beginning to rework and old track that had been scrapped about 5 years ago. When they made a couple changes and the track turned into something completely different than what they had anticipated. This is one of the fastest if not the fastest track on the record, where they started incorporating more blast beats, and very heavy gallops on the guitars. The lyrics are based on events from 19th century Europe, around the origination of Frankenstein’s monster, and the attempts at resurrecting someone from the dead.

2. Relentless Reprisal – This track was lyrically of a personal matter. Its concept is that of getting revenge in the most gruesome of ways against somebody who had wronged you in one way or another.

3. High Voltage Castration – This was one of the last tracks written for the album, and is one of the most challenging of their entire catalog to perform, but also one of the most enjoyable. Its written about the “Tucker Telephone,” which was a torture device from the 1960’s that consisted of an old hand-crank telephone and an electric generator. If information was required of a prisoner, or they were found to be disobedient, they would be taken to a hospital room and restrained to a table, where a ground wire would be attached to the large toe, and the hot wire would be attached to the genitals, causing a massive electrical current to ensue, typically causing major deformation to the appendage.

4. Maruta – Based off the events of the Japanese “Unit 731″ experiments, this song outlines some of the gruesome acts that were bestowed upon prisoners during the WWII, which goes from live artillery testing, all the way to forced organ failures and vivisection.

5. Cellar Goreatory – Since the band’s inception, they have always tried to stay closely entwined to the early roots of death metal, and this track in particular follows that very in your face, savage groove that you cannot help but bang your head along to. The lyrical concept was based on a story guitarist Sean Watson was told from an acquaintance who had returned from vacation, which in a short version of the story, the person had a near fatal encounter with someone who was later to have found harboring the bodies of dead female tourists in their basement.

6. Messiah Complex – This was one of the earlier tracks DISPLAY OF DECAY had been performing before the recording process had begun for ‘Dust of Existence’. It starts off fairly slow and melodic, but has very heavy bridge sections, and takes a fast pace very quickly towards the ending.

7. Nyctophilia – This was the first track written out of the eight. It keeps a much slower pace than the rest of the album, but showcases a very dark tone from start to finish.

8. Dust of Existence – When DISPLAY OF DECAY began writing the lyrics for this song, There was no music behind it, and the band had a much different concept that was eventually altered to fit the story being told. When the writing of this track began, they knew right away it was easily going to be the longest song, it had to, it basically is the calm after the storm. With all that was said and done from “Outbreak of Infection” right to where they are now with “Dust of Existence,” this track basically plays out the events that have unfolded, both through the songs, and in real life events around being in this band. Many things have changed since their formation in 2007, and the stories that could be told over that 8 years could last for days, and this song is a testament to the past, present, and future of DISPLAY OF DECAY.

About:

Bringing horror, mayhem, and pain through a medium that brushes on brutal death metal. BLEED‘s live show combines costumed performances with crushing, groovy thrash peppered with blood. The band pays homage to theatrical metal kings, GWAR, through their own original material and costume design. They guarantee that fans will be chanting along with their grotesque lyrics from such songs as ‘Committed’ complete with appropriate props to accompany much of the material they write.

The blood covered four piece is comprised of Ron (guitarist), Rob (vocalist), Mike (Bass) who also plays bass in Samandriel, and Chuck (Drums) who also plays in Idolatry and Ivardensphere. They draw inspiration from many bands; Slayer for their in your face delivery and lyrical content, GWAR for their stage show and lyrical content, Strapping Young Lad for their chaotic sound and comedic entertainment, Zimmer’s Hole for their stage show and variety of song style, and DevilDriver for their overall heavy/borderline death metal sound.

Their song writing strategy is simple: start with a guitar riff, structure it, and map it out, from there they add bass and drums, rehearse liberally, and continue to craft the instrumentals until they are completely ‘fleshed’ out. Lyrics are usually written in one sitting by Robert (vocals), once the emotion is found, a story begins to unfold, be it about war, demons, death, torture, and other unpleasantries.

The band has released a self-titled EP in 2014, and plan to release their debut full-length on September 29, 2015 accompanying it will be a booklet with individual band photos, grotesque artistic imagery, and lyrics for the songs. Fans and crowds are guaranteed to be covered in blood by the end of the show with their endless ferocity.

Saskatoon’s haunting four piece, BONFIRE have just announced that they are going to be releasing their third consecutive EP ‘Mom’s Garden’ slated forFriday, October 2, 2015.

Biography:

Bonfire creates dark, honest music painted through sorrowful lyrics and a haunting guitar tone. The four piece hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and features members of Hhogwash and other local bands from the hardcore scene.

Lyrically Greg Demers (guitar/vocals) draws from family issues, relationships, and in general low points in life to compose an image for listeners. Thomas Gelley (Bass) and James Wojak (guitar) generate the resonating instrumentals while Kurt Wolfe (drums) drives the songs forward.

Despite the emotional lyrics and dreary instrumentals their passion and energy on stage is explosive, yet sombre. Bonfire started in 2012 and since then has released Adderall (demo) and a split with Newborn last year.

The band is releasing ‘Mom’s Garden’ Fri., Oct. 2, along with a fall tour across Eastern Canada.

Haiduk is the death metal solo-project by guitarist Luka Milojica. Emerging from the cold forests of Canada, the project arose with the release of the raw, bone-chilling 8-song demo “Plagueswept” (2010).

Canada’s favorite sweaty, sexy punk rock nomads KILL MATILDA are proud to their Western Canadian ‘Punk Survival Tour’ w/ The Nailheads this October to follow their Ontario and Quebec ‘Tabarnak And Back’ tour this September.

The tour is in support of their latest EP ‘Songs For Survival’ released on Little Heart Records on August 28th. Featuring six songs to help you survive the apocalypse, the EP is produced by legendary producer GGGarth Richardson(Kittie, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, The Melvins), engineered by Nygel Asselin and GGGarth at the Farm Studio in Vancouver BC, and mixed by Ben Kaplan and Scott Ternan. The EP is available on CD and cassette here plus iTunes.

Unleashing their fifth and latest self-titled full length for North American release on August 7th, 2015 via Test Your Metal Records, Brazil’s power metallers HIBRIA were supposed to tour both the USA and Canada this September and October in support of the release, which included an appearance at this year’s sold out Power Prog USA XVI on September 11th. But due to issues with visa’s for the tour beyond their control, the band has been forced to postpone all their North American dates w/ Unleash The Archers (dates listed below).

“Some very unfortunate news in the world of metal. For reasons beyond our control Hibria will not be able to join the upcoming North American tour set to take place Sept/Oct 2015. Due to major issues with the USCIS and immigration Visa’s will not be issued in time to take part in the Canadian and US shows including their appearance at PPUSA . As you may know, the USCIS system was hacked a couple months ago and it has caused us nothing but problems for the whole underground music scene. After countless weeks fighting the system, countless extra fees paid and trying to get answers from the USCIS we are forced to throw in the towel and post pone HIBRIA’s NA tour until a later date.”
