NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 23, 2019

For fans of Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D,
Weird Al Yankovic, Primus, Stephen Lynch, Mr. Bungle

PSYCHOSTICK’s New Music Video ‘Rent In Peace’ ft. James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd) Pays Homage To The Days Of Blockbuster

The days of worrying about late fees and the newest release being unavailable are over, but for some, the death of childhood favorite movie destination Blockbuster, it’s still a tragic realization. For those people – and everyone else, PSYCHOSTICK have released a music video to compliment their 2018 track ‘Rent In Peace’, an ode to days past.

‘Rent In Peace’, one of the band’s most heartfelt songs, comes from the latest album “DO” and features a cameo from James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd/Cinemassacre) and if filmed on the set of Rolfe’s “Rental Reviews”. PSYCHOSTICK comments on the cameo:

“People are probably wondering how James Rolfe ended up in one of our music videos. First of all, that video shoot was a hell of a lot of fun, James is a super chill, smart dude with a great sense of humor and good taste in beer. Speaking of beer, that’s where it all started… with the promise of a single beer back in 2010. It wasn’t until nine years later when I was finally able to deliver on the promised beer and a plan for the video was set.”

Rolfe adds: “I’m really happy about the crossover. It was lots of fun!”

For those who like comedic music ala Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D, and Weird Al, PSYCHOSTICK is sure to be a hit.

The video for “Rent in Peace” can be viewed with buttery popcorn here.

“DO” is the latest full length from PSYCHOSTICK and was released during July 2018 as a surprise album that was four years in the making to follow their extremely fan loved “IV: Revenge of The Vengeance” to continue the band’s genius of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover.

“DO” debut #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart along with ranking at #14 for Hard Rock Album, #39 for Rock Album, #39 for Independent Albums and #9 for Heatseekers Albums for the week of August 11th, 2018.

Album CD order, digital download, and streaming available on Psychostick Online Store, Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online retailers.

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they’ve coined as ‘humorcore’. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band have caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory Psychostick have released five full-length albums–‘We Couldn’t Think of a Title’ (2006), ‘Sandwich’ (2009), ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D’ (2011) and ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance’ (2014), ‘DO’ (2018) —and two EPs—their holiday album, ‘The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride’ (2007), and ‘The Digital Appetizer’. With their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic), Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

PSYCHOSTICK Posts “Socks & Sandals (Pajama Pants)” Music Video

“The Socks, Sandals & PJ Pants Tour” w/ Downtown Brown, Danimal Cannon

Challenge Fans To Attend Tour Dates In Pajamas!

New Album “DO” Out Now!

The kings of comedy rock PSYCHOSTICK are hitting the road this coming October and November for “The Socks, Sandals & PJ Pants Tour” with Downtown Brown and Danimal Cannon (dates listed below) in support of their new album “DO”. But before they hit the road, they want fans to know the comfort of Socks, Sandals and Pajama Pants with their new music video.

“Being the cutting-edge connoisseurs of fashion that we are, we decided to theme our fall tour after our new music video and undeniable style, “Socks, Sandals, and PJ Pants”. We encourage all to come to the show in comfort, and forget about overrated things like “dignity” and “self-respect”. And we want to see a pajama pants pit.” says guitarist Josh ‘The J” Key.

Watch “Socks & Sandals (Pajama Pants) at the following link:

Vocalist Rob Kersey is also challenging fans to come to all the PSYCHOSTICK shows dressed in Pajamas! and take tons of pictures with the hashtag #SSPJ

Watch Rob’s video address to the nation!

“Do” is the latest full length from PSYCHOSTICK and was released as a surprise album to the world that the band revealed this past July during a live fan engagement webcast on Twitch (watch the video here). Four years in the making to follow their extremely fan loved “IV: Revenge of The Vengeance”, “DO” continues the band’s genius of blending comedy, metal, heavy rock and the occasional spoof cover.

“DO” debut #1 on Billboard’s Comedy Albums chart along with ranking at #14 for Hard Rock Album, #39 for Rock Album, #39 for Independent Albums and #9 for Heatseekers Albums for the week of August 11th.

The band comments:

“Whelp, here it is! “Do.” This whole “surprise, nerd! New album!” experiment was extremely fun, and we’re beyond appreciative of your patience and understanding. We agree with you – four years is way too long. We hope to fix that despite what Murph says!

“Do” is our first 100% independent, label-free release since 2003! Our production process is still completely internal, but this time all profits go straight to Psychostick. This is extremely huge for us and we can’t thank you enough.

2018 marked the fifteenth anniversary of our first album, and we’re beyond excited that we’re still kickin’, making globs upon globs of comedy metal. We aim to do this until they kick us out of the old folks’ home or off of Mars. That’s right. We’re goin’ to Mars, damnit.”

Album CD order, digital download and streaming available on Psychostick Online Store, Bandcamp, iTunes, Spotify and all other major online retailers.

0 The Metal Observer – Psychostick – DO – 10/10 – “Do stretches the band’s heaviness, joke-telling, skit-writing and songwriting to levels that will serve longtime fans very well indeed. Unlike the majority of bands who claim to weave comedy into their music, Psychostick actually make the fusion appear seamless. Both the comedy and metal aspects serve each other, instead of being intrusive.”
