About the duo:

Grant, who plays guitar, bass and synth for the band started his music career 8 ½ years ago at the age of 12, sitting in his basement watching the movie Rock Prophecies. This movie was about legendary rock photographer Robert M. Knight, finding and transforming a young, unknown guitarist from a small town into a worldwide success. Inspired and motivated, Grant spent the next few years honing his guitar skills, writing music, and later learning the business side by attending college for business marketing. At age 20, Grant was invited into the Brotherhood of the Guitar, by founder Robert M. Knight, leading to endorsements with Ernie Ball Music Man and JH Audio.

While Grant was performing with another group at a local battle of the bands, he came across a mesmerizing singer by the name of Kenny Parry (vocalist, drummer and synth for Jupiter Hollow), who was almost performing as if he was possessed on stage, hitting notes that seemed impossible by any guy. Kenny Parry started music at the young age of 2 years old, setting up pots and pans like a drum set and banging away. This led to an obsession with music, and a discovery of his unique talent. In his teenage years, Kenny won himself the title “Best Drummer in Ontario” 3 years in a row. Around this time, Kenny started learning how to sing after being inspired by singers such as Maynard James Keenan, Mike Lessard, Dan Tompkins and Ian Kenny to name a few. Through years of strengthening his vocal abilities in choirs, bands and hours of dedication, Kenny has acquired an articulate vocal range, relentless endurance, and almost shocking performance through his uncontrollable stage presence.

Shortly after meeting, Grant and Kenny knew that their talents combined would create something truly unique, and Jupiter Hollow was born. Since then, the duo effortlessly created music in Kenny’s basement for months on end. The concept grew to be a two-man band, since Grant and Kenny wrote all of the music and wanted to keep it that way. The two musicians use technology to their advantage, allowing them to perform with a dominating stage presence, while captivating their audiences with their unique sonic journey.

“Jupiter Hollow have given the world five songs of progressive brilliance. For such a young duo hailing from Barrie, Ontario they pack a serious punch. They are great musicians and have crafted an amazing voice which touches on a range of progressive cliches but with a twist of more ambient music. Their music shows maturity beyond their age…” – The Independent Voice

“Impossibly young Canadian duo deliver quite a trip. When a prog band emerges with their debut EP and the two people in it are 18 and 21 respectively, you are more than entitled to feel old. When a prog duo emerges with as much talent as Jupiter Hollow you are entitled to feel excited about the future…A band this brimming with ideas will at some point in their careers deliver a masterpiece. This is an incredible start.” – Maximum Volume Music
“New listeners can expect to go on a musical journey when hearing Jupiter Hollow.” – Barrie Advance

“Teen duo Jupiter Hollow deserve props for valuing virtuosity and going against the grain. Rock on!” – Power of Pop

“An adventurous duo that isn’t afraid to experiment with sound as well as influences, which range from Rush to A Perfect Circle to newer Leprous. ” – Lords of Metal

“Jupiter Hollow consists of only two guys; there’s a Grant, and there’s a Kenny. They put all of the music together themselves, and it’s pretty spectacular if you ask me!” – Noah Campbell, Rock 95.7FM (Radio Host)

About:

Hailing from Calgary, the imaginatively named From The Wolves mix melody with metalcore, creativity with carnage, and intelligence with aggression, something they’ve nailed with their new EP ‘Nightmares’ , which captures their live fury forever like some creature in amber. Describing their sound as “an absolutely horrifying unnatural train-wreck” and live as “a very high energy show”, From The Wolves are taking their music to the next level with inspiration from The Ghost Inside, Parkway Drive, Emmure, Norma Jean and The Acacia Strain.

As drummer Layne Frank says of the new EP. “Our fans will love it. It is fast and aggressive with hard hitting riffs with some melodic hooks thrown in…we want our listeners to go through an emotional roller coaster when listening to us.”

The creative well for From The Wolves is deep. “We wanted a fast and aggressive EP and these three songs were perfect for what we were going for. Fans can expect a lot more music from us.”

Fantasy plays no part in From The Wolves’ lyrical influences as they are inspired by “life experiences and anything we strongly believe in.”

Layne feels that From The Wolves’ sound is evolving rapidly. “We have grown a lot as a band, when we started, we were mainly writing with a more ‘hardcore’ style as you can hear with songs like ‘Empty Promises’, ‘Sheep’ and ‘Antagonist’ but we were always pushing for metalcore with ‘Legacy’. ‘Dead End Horizons’ and the latest song, ‘Calloused’. We have come a long way when it comes to song-writing and how we structure songs…We are influenced by a ton of different styles of metal. The main influences for us would have to be metalcore, deathcore and everything in between.”

As Layne sums up confidently. “On the whole the EP is just an angry statement towards the world and everything we all deal with on a daily basis.”

‘Nightmares’ was released October 14, 2016.

“A Cold Embrace,” is metal to the core.  With an intense mixture of hardcore and metal, “A Cold Embrace,” features amazing music, amazing song writing and amazing intensity…The vocals, riffs and backend bass and drums, are technically on point and make this an amazing EP.  From the churning guitar on “Dead End Horizon,” to the technical masterpiece, “No Miracles,” this EP has an intense vibe running through it that sounds like a prison riot set to music and that means, it kicks ass.  No matter if you like hardcore, metalcore, metal, etc, “A Cold Embrace,” is a big sounding EP from a band with a big future and a Bro-Metal rating of, 9/10″ – Bro Metal

“FTW were a lot of fun in the studio and they came with professional attitudes about their music. Hopefully this will be a band that continues to stick around the scene and develop their music, I’m really looking forward to how their sound develops” – Rob Kukla (Producer)

Montreal, QC – February 6, 2017

‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ Author Antonio Ponce Posts 3 Tips To Schedule Your Time For Success

‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ author Antonio Ponce has posted a new blog on tips on how to budget time, the most precious resource for an artist.

“Most people have no idea where their time goes. These same people will tell you they have no time. If they were to document what they did last week hour by hour I bet they would be surprised to see where their time goes. Most people are busy to be busy doing things that are not moving them towards achieving any goals. If you are not scheduling your time with purpose, then you will stay stuck.” says Ponce.

Entitled ‘3 Tips To Schedule Your Time For Success’, the blog mentions tips on how band should organize their time towards the things that will really move them forward such as marketing, engaging fans, networking and more. The blog entry can be read at the following link: https://www.apjonespublishing.com/blogs/news/band-3-tips-to-schedule-your-time-for-success

Ponce
recently released his debut educational music business book ‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ to enable up-and-coming bands to ascend the ladder of success, in his own words, it’s a “lean valuable quick simple guide.”.

The book is based on his band’s experience from playing his first show to six months later being invited to play a festival in Tokyo, Japan. The book is a great starting point for those interested in the business side of the music industry. Think of it as a quick business foundation musicians can use to get things going.

Ponce explains:

“I would have loved to have this information when our band started. There were so many unanswered questions that took years of searching and experience to learn. If this book had existed back then, we could have leaped over the fire instead of trying to walk through it! I know a lot of new and current bands stuck on the ‘what to do next?’ question will find value in the book’s contents. I hope this book is a tool musicians can use to help them get into a position to get to the next level and notice what we were able to do as an unknown band and that they can do it too!”

‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ is now available both digitally and paperback on Amazon here and AP Jones Publishing here.

“Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business is absolutely worth the time of any aspiring musician or music band. There are a numerous gems presented in the book which would be beneficial to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the music business.” – The Gateway

“He teaches a few different skills  throughout the book, which are typically things that bands focus on less, like budgeting, how to move to a different city, book shows and tours, run social media, marketing, selling music and building relationships…Biggest piece of advice Ponce offers is to focus on goals, have goals set and make sure everyone is on the same page.” – Edmonton Examiner

“The novel points bands towards the more ‘behind-the-scenes’ areas of the music business; the much less known side of the entire project” – Playlist Play

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 3, 2017

For fans of Dream Theater, Tool, Yngwie Malmsteen, Animals As Leaders,Van Halen, RacerX

Prog-Sphere Premiere New Video ‘Seven Sisters’ By Prog Virtuosos OMNISIGHT

Out Now! New EP ‘Power of One’

Bringing progressive metal into new dimensions especially for those who really enjoy full explosive adventure, Vancouver virtuosos OmnisighT recently gave the world their latest effort ‘Power of One’. The EP showcases their highly regarded musicianship and finely wrought song-craft.  As a whole ‘Power of One’ is a musical journey with a story concept to question the status quo and stand up against the oppression plus deceptions of the ruling class.

Teaming up with Prog-Sphere.com, OmnisighT are excited to share with fans their latest video ‘Seven Sisters’ in support of the EP.

Vocalist / guitarist Raj Krishna explains:

“I wrote the seven sisters riff just goofing around at home. I really didn’t even like it that much! I still wanted to try it out live in the room though, and Chris our drummer put this super funky groove on it and I got a vocal off it right away. It’s loosely based on the seven sisters oil cartel BP, Shell, Exxon, Texaco Standard Oil and the like. Basically it’s about befriending people just to get at their resources. It’s also in a 7/8 time signature through a lot of the song, so that’s me just trying to be clever!”

Watch ‘Seven Sisters‘ at the following link: http://www.prog-sphere.com/specials/omnisight-seven-sisters-video-premiere/

‘Power of One’ is now streaming along with CD and digital download at https://omnisight.bandcamp.com/album/the-power-of-one

Also available on iTunes, Spotify, and all other major online retailers.

Drummer Chris Warunki comments on the release:

“The Power Of One is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders. Guitarists, bassists, drummers and vocalists will all have something in-store for them here with this EP. We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically. Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a “more is more” approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!”

If you’re in the Vancouver, BC area, you can catch the guys performing their local CD release show on March 11th at the Astoria with support from My Mother The Carjacker and Did You Die. Full event details can be found here.

About:
Known for their formidable musicianship, virtuosic guitar solos and powerful songs, OmnisighT is masterfully blurring the lines between melodic hard rock and progressive metal. Beginning as collaboration between vocalist/guitarist Raj Krishna and drummer Chris Warunki, they created the impressive ‘Path’ debut album in 2012. Their live line-up was consolidated with the addition of Dave Shannon on bass and guitarist Blake Rurik. ‘Path’ was followed up by the 2013 ‘Wave Particle’ EP.

Like all truly visionary musicians, band co-founder Raj was driven to create unique music. “I’ve been writing and singing songs since I was a little kid. We never seemed to hear heavy prog music that had shredding and hooks at the same time. It always seems you get one or the other….Having technical musicianship with good song-writing, shredding licks, and big hooks was the whole idea.”

Raj sums up OmnisighT’s music thusly: ‘Proggy, hooky, shredding, sad, and powerful!’

While Raj is justifiably proud of OmnisighT’s recorded output, he sees the importance of performance. ‘Live is where the band really shines! We put on a show, running around smiling and shredding. The band plays with more intensity…we often give the headliners a run for their money.’

“The depth of talent in Canada often surprises us. Here is another superb band to add to the list. It remains to be seen how far “The Power Of One” takes OmnisighT. But one thing is for sure, it is an EP of which they can be incredibly proud.” – Maximum Volume Music

“If you’re going to attempt this sort of thing, you’d better have chops. Fortunately, (OmnisighT) have ’em, and how.” – Georgia Straight

“Their stage presence and technique is out of this world…I can safely say that the only guitarists I’ve seen live that instilled the same sort of awe in me as Raj Krishna were Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci himself.” – Prog Sphere

“great songwriting, fantastic lead guitar work…immediately on the first track, the intro “String Theory,” we are greeted by some immense guitar skills. Seriously, these guys are fucking fantastic.” – The Monolith

“deliciously retro, Zappa-meets-Malmsteen solos with at least one toe in the land of jazzy improv… guitar fiends should rush to check them out.” – Georgia Straight

“I have never been more impressed with a band that I had zero knowledge about. These guys play like they’ve been playing together since birth and clearly love what they do at a cellular level.” – Metal Titans

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 3, 2017

For fans of Alexisonfire, Deftones, Of Mice & Men

Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy Streaming New Track ‘Say It Like You Mean It’ ft Rachel Gosling

New EP ‘Mixed Messages’ Out Feb 10th

In 2010, vocalist and songwriter Adrian Pain endured events that would have left most men shattered and broken. Unwilling to take prescribed medications for his severe depression, he found inner strength in the form of the lyrics and music that sprang from his suffering. Together with his son and drummer Ethan Clark, formed a new family in the shape of their band, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy. Adrian describes their music as “torment and triumph, sonic seduction.” They have transcended their initial influences of Deftones, Alexisonfire, and Of Mice & Men, to a genre of metal they have given a name of its own. “We like to call what we do ‘Allcore’ … To break it down as far as metal sub-genres go, I think what best describes us would be a blend of Progressive & Nu-metal, with Post-Hardcore & Metalcore …or NuMetalcore if you’d like!”

Their new EP ‘Mixed Messages’ set for release on February 10, 2017 continues their solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics.

Pain describes the ‘Mixed Messages’ EP:

“This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like.  If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort. What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.”

Evolving from past EPs, 2014’s ‘Picture Day At Night School’ and their 2013 debut ‘The First One Is Free’ along with Adrian Pain’s solo full length 2012’s ‘Love Letters & Suicide Notes’, ‘Mixed Messages’ is a mixture of Adrian Pain’s solo work and The Dead Sexy’s band work with subtle messages that they hope would help their fans deal with negativity in different aspects of their lives.

The bands’s latest single ‘Say It Like You Mean It’ featuring Rachel Gosling can be heard at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9CYFHNJeBQ

Plus their first single and lyric video ‘In Time’ at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlyuaxLFc5o

Just as they deliver shock and awe on record, Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy‘s live performance is a constant energy exchange. Their sets have a life of their own. One minute the whole room can be bouncing, the next there may be a pit, or there can be a complete hush over the crowd while they catch their breath and listen intently as the band engages them and the fans interact back with them. This showmanship has lead Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy to blow up the Toronto music scene, headlining major clubs such as Sound Academy, Virgin Mobile Mod Club, Hard Rock Café for Hard Rock Rising, Bovine Sex Club, The Rivoli, Lee’s Palace, and The Horseshoe Tavern along with locally supporting touring bands such as Mushroomhead, Wednesday 13, Eyes Set To Kill, Anvil, Killer Dwarfs, Sid Wilson / Slipknot After Party, Die Mannequin, Carol Pope, Sumo Cyco, Dance Laurie Dance, Castle and more. The band has also taken a foot hold of the Southern Ontario touring circuit, performing in cities surrounding the greater Toronto area and festivals such as the Ottawa Field Fest, Landmark Events, Canadian Music Week, Kitchener Music Festival to name a few.

0 NEWS: Montreal Viking Metal VALFREYA Streaming Full Album ‘Promised Land’

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 2, 2017

For fans of Wintersun, Equilibrium, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Dimmu Borgir

Montreal Viking Metal VALFREYA Streaming Full Album ‘Promised Land’

The world needs heroes now more than ever. In the shape of Montreal’s larger-than-life metal warriors VALFREYA, it has them! And in their striking vocalist Crook, they have their own Valkyrie!.

In 2009, vocalist Crook wanted to play something akin to folk metal, but even more aggressive and fast paced. Combining Valhalla and the Norse goddess Freya, the band has been creating music and lyrics to revolve around stories inspired by Norse mythology.

Orchestral and death metal with a hint of folk music, the prolific VALFREYA have released two well-received EPs (‘First Chronicles’ and ‘Acoustic Chronicles’), an impressive 2012 debut album entitled ‘Path To Eternity’ via Maple Metal Records and have just unleashed their second ‘Promised Land’ independently on January 13, 2017.

“The album is a journey through a lot of emotions and situations, giving life to a host of varied songs, each with a different sound and personality. The story behind the album is about Eric The Red discovering America and how he defies the Gods, but pays a hefty price for that defiance. ” says VALFREYA about the release. “It’s a step-up in sound quality and has more intricate guitar parts and better-written music that with every listen you can discover parts you hadn’t noticed before. On top of that we have an original sound and songs! We want to give more to people that enjoy good riffs!”

Just as you hear on record, VALFREYA promises the fans a unique live experience. What you hear on the album is what you get on stage. All vocals, whether clean or screams, are done by the band members both in studio and live. They dress in a fantasy-like Viking fashion to go with their story-telling, which gives an interesting visual aspect, while delivering the instrument-playing with precision. VALFREYA has shared the stage with Arkona, Dark Tranquility, Nekrogoblikon, Necronomicon, Koorpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Tyr and Insomnium.

‘Promised Land’ is now streaming in full at the following links:

What Is Touring India Like? ALL ELSE FAILS Share Tour Diary Exclusively On Decibel Mag

New Music Video ‘The Sons of Plenty’

New EP ‘The Forever Lie’ Out Feb 17th

Canadians ALL ELSE FAILS are currently on their first international tour of India where they have already performed at the Unmaad Fest and scheduled to play Feb 4th at the Alcheringa Fest. The festival appearances add to a long list of other high level performances over the years, but none have offered the culture, people and new friends AEF have made on this journey.

Teaming up with Decibel Magazine, vocalist/guitarist Barrett Klesko shares pics and words from the first half of their travels. Read it all at the following link: http://decibelmagazine.com/blog/2017/2/2/canadian-band-goes-to-india-takes-lots-of-pictures

ALL ELSE FAILS will be unleashing their new EP ‘The Forever Lie’ on Feb 17th, 2017 to follow their 2013 award winning EP ‘Fucktropolis’. The new EP continues the Edmonton, AB band’s aggressively dark brand of metal that breaks the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like Killswitch Engage, In Flames and Of Mice & Men, the band infuses their music with a variety of elements that includes experimental, classical, synth lines plus spoken word sampling to accent a unique blend of heavy as hell screams and shiver inducing clean vocals.

ALL ELSE FAILS‘ first single / music video ‘The Sons of Plenty’, where the band literally lights their guitars on fire, can be watched at the following link via GearGods at http://geargods.net/music-videos/all-else-fails-the-sons-of-plenty-official-music-video-premiere/

Vancouver’s CRNKSHFT Announce New Self-Titled EP, Feb 2nd Show Date w/ Lordi

Vancouver, BC’s CRNKSHFT announce they will be unleashing their new self-titled EP produced by Daren Grahn (Metallica, Hedley, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi) on March 24, 2017 to follow their 2015 debut ‘Hard Fucking Rock’.  Since the band’s formation in 2015, CRNKSHFT’s engine has been firing on all cylinders setting their scene ablaze with their explosive, drop tune aggression with melody at its core.Influenced by bands like Alice In Chains, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera and Godsmack, CRNKSHFT have carved out a sound in the vein of Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, Alter Bridge plus Black Stone Cherry and are ready to shift gear to full speed.

The wrecking crew comments on the forthcoming EP:

“Our new EP is a beast; we are really excited to showcase our melodic side. The four songs should touch a wide demographic of fans, which is what we want. We aren’t looking to be defined as just a heavy metal band, but as a hard knocking punch to get anyone going. We’re accepted by all those who listen to metal and rock. The whole idea of CRNKSHFT’s music is that we’ll be enjoyed by fans across a variety of genres.”

The EP’s first single ‘Systematic’ has already won ‘Best Metal Song’ by the Academia Awards Academy in Los Angeles, demonstrating that CRNKSHFT’s punishing high octane sound is ready to win over the masses.Listen to ‘Systematic’ at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8nMR5NEi90

plus their second single ‘Old Habits’ at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f10TV3GVDA

When it comes to lyrics, vocalist Shane Jolie explains:

“This EP is pseudo political, but also has songs about heartache and emotions, it’s not a story from start to finish, and each song has its own message. It’s an EP to show the world who we are and what we’re all about. My writing is dark, ideas came from depression and anger, sometimes when I’m happy, but mostly not and it’s still very true to this day. I want people to take whatever they can from the listening experience of our new EP. Music always helped me out of my funks and I want CRNKSHFT to do the same. Let it be accessible to all people and all feelings.”

CRNKSHFT prides itself on writing raw, emotional music and when they perform with zero fucks given, what you see is what you get…a leave it all on stage attitude that gets fans fists pumping, head banging and singing along to the band’s anthemic melodies. The band has already been tapped as local support for such touring bands as Prong, Grim Reaper, and The Veer Union.

“We’re not a band that’s going to give you stage props and fake blood and shit, we’re going to give you an emotional rollercoaster, it’s not just straight metal or straight rock its a mixer of everything in between, the songs have tonnes of dynamic, and we push for people to get caught up in it.”

Their next show date will be opening for Finnish metallers LORDI’s first North American tour stop on February 2nd at the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver, BC. Full details can found here.

There is no stopping the CRNKSHFT freight train. Mark it down on your calendar; their self-titled EP will be available on iTunes, Bandcamp, CD Baby, Spotify and all major online retailers as of March 24, 2017.
