Helion Prime have released a new lyric video for the fourth single “Photo 51” off of their upcoming album “Question Everything” due out on October 5th in North America along with Europe via their label Saibot Reigns and October 28th in Japan via Ward Records. The Japanese CD version will feature two exclusive bonus tracks “Prof (Demo)” and “Rain (Trivium Cover)” (track listing below) and is available for pre-order HERE. The North American/EU pre-order at Helionprimemetal.com.

The band comments on “Photo 51”:

“We are very happy to release the final single for our album “Question Everything”, which comes out one week from today! This song is called “Photo 51” and based on…Photo 51! The first photograph of DNA. This song is a favorite among the band from the new album and those who have heard it seem to claim it as a favorite as well! It might just become a new staple in our live sets! We hope you enjoy Photo 51! And thank you to Scott Kennedy from 12 Inch Media for creating it.”

Watch and listen to “Photo 51” HERE.

It’s been about two years since the band’s sophomore release “Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster” and Sacramento sci-fi power metallers Helion Prime returns with their third effort and the much shorter title “Question Everything” set for release on Monday, October 5th, 2020 via their label Saibot Reigns.  This is Helion Prime‘s first album with new vocalist Mary Zimmer, who has also accompanied the band on two separate tours of the United States. It also sees the band’s original singer, Heather Michele, returning in a writing capacity and contributing all lyrics and melodies. Heather Michele also along with other former Helion Prime vocalist Sozos Michael and with John Yelland (Judicator/Dire Peril) add their guest vocals on the full length.

The highly anticipated third record is a concept album, with each song revolving around different figures throughout human history that had the courage to question the status quo of their respective worlds/societies, in some cases even dealing with harsh persecution as a result. Those Helion Prime chose to write about-faced prejudice, mockery, ex-communication, and persecution – yet through it all, they held true to their beliefs and ideas. Time would be their greatest ally as their ideas and identities were eventually validated, oftentimes not until after their passing. They serve as an inspiration for all minds to continue thinking outside the box and staying true to themselves.

Jason speaks on the album itself:

“This album has truly been amazing to work on. The idea behind it is something I’ve been holding on to since around the time I started the band. Aside from writing some of what I consider to be Prime’s best work it was a great experience getting to work with Heather again on an album as she once again contributed her talents for the lyrics.”

“Question Everything” was produced by Jason Ashcraft and Alex Nasla. Mixing was done by Chris Collier and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima along with additional mixing/drum edits/reamping plus writing and performance of keyboard arrangements by Alex Nasla of Gear Gods Studio. Guitar/Bass edits by Michael Goodrich and cover art by Marc Whisnant.

LUFEH Posts Video Performing New Album “Luggage Falling Down” In Its Entirety

Gera Penna– Keys, Duca Tambasco – Bass, Dennis Atlas – Vocals, Teo Dornellas – Guitar, Lufeh Batera – Drums

Releasing their debut album “Luggage Falling Down” this past April, Los Angeles’ Lufeh (a band of both Brazilian and American musicians) have been sharing a series of music videos for each individual track from the full length over the last few months to showcase their blend of progressive rock injected with jazz styles, heavy metal foundations, and rhythmic Brazilian influences.

Today, the band shares video of them performing the new album “Luggage Falling Down” in its entirety, which can be viewed on YouTube HERE.

The live album performance was recorded at The Rose, Pasadena, CA on January 21st, 2020.

Lufeh‘s debut album was a trying, yet successful first recording for these recently banded musicians who lived together for two weeks throughout the process. Having lost the original singer a month before recording began, the intrepid bunch found hope with Dennis Atlas who fell in step with the rest of the band immediately. This bond between the members can be heard on the new record along with the series of videos that the band has released in support of it.

The band comments on the album:

“The album is both melodic and highly energetic and aggressive. With a strong foundation in jazz and classical musicality, the band brings a metal edge to a unique melodic story. These metal warriors have become tycoons of song structure and, throughout the album, display highly refined expertise in making music that is captivating to listen to, addictively technical, and uplifting.”

For fans of Dream Theater, Incubus, and Haken, Lufeh is smooth and rhythmic progressive metal; heavy chords followed by light melodies and the occasional crazy guitar solo.

Their debut full length “Luggage Falling Down” is available for stream and download on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

EPKAbout:
Lufeh is a musical collaboration of excellent Brazilian and American musicians brought together by drummer Batera Lufeh. Lufeh himself has had a successful career performing with many famous Brazilian bands and artists, including one of the most well known Christian rock bands of its style, Oficina G3, among others. In 2008, he recorded his first solo album “Drummed On Classics”, which uniquely combined a mix of classical pieces with progressive rock drumming.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2014, Lufeh has continued his career as a musician, starting in Florida, where he performed with Kristo Reggae and Big Pine Band. Lufeh participated in the Blue Man Group Drum-Off in 2016, where he was awarded the privilege to take part in its grand finale in Las Vegas, and chosen as one of the top five drummers in the contest. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he became the official drummer of Kenny Shipman.

Now, in 2020, Lufeh is an entire unit moving forward with the addition of Gera Penna (keyboard); Duca Tambasco (bass); Dennis Atlas (vocals);  and Teo Dornellas (guitar) who have proven to be a great match. The band recently released the highly-anticipated second album “Luggage Falling Down”, a solid record of Brazilian influenced groovy progressive metal, which has received great praise from reviewers, calling it a mix between Brazilian music, Rush, and Dream Theater.

The album is both melodic and highly energetic and aggressive. With a strong foundation in jazz and classical musicality, the band brings a metal edge to a unique melodic story. These progressive metal warriors have become tycoons of song structure and, throughout the album, display highly refined expertise in making music that is captivating to listen to, addictively technical, and uplifting.

“Luggage Falling Down” was released on April 17, 2020 and available on all major digital platforms.

Extreme Metal Music: Thanatopsis Streaming New Single “Consequence” Off Upcoming Album “Initiation”

“Initiation” Out October 23rd, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music

California’s Thanatopsis have unleashed the new single “Consequence”, off their upcoming debut album “Initiation” due out October 23, 2020 via Extreme Metal Music to follow their four independently released demos between 1993-1997.

The band comments about the song:

“‘Consequence’ is one of the newer songs that was written for the ‘Initiation’ album.  ‘Consequence’ is basically about the uprising of the common man against population control perpetrated by the ruling class and the subsequent formation of an underground resistance. The epic nature, aggressiveness, and twists in this song make for a listening experience that we believe will resonate with our audience.”

Listen to “Consequence” on YouTube, Spotify.

After a hiatus, 3/4 of the band has reunited along with the new addition of drummer Jason Borton (Jungle Rot, Arkaik) to offer their debut full-length, which features past recordings that are given a second life and a chance to be heard by a broader audience along with new unheard material. The album was recorded at Trident Studios with renowned producer Juan Urteaga (Exodus, Testament, Machine Head).

The overall album experience shares eight old school thrash/death metal influenced tracks that are an emotionally twisted ride of violently catchy brutality. With themes that include corruption, occultism, murder, revolt, and loss of faith, Thanatopsis delivers an album that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish, with a sound unlike any other.

The band comments:

“It has been a long time in the making and we are very excited to present to the world the first official full-length Thanatopsis album “Initiation”. This album contains timeless songs that fans, both old and new, will appreciate. Bringing our sound to the masses has been a collective dream of ours for a long time. In a scene that is saturated with bands, we are proud to release something that is unique in character to the metal world at large.”

“This new song definitely has a strong and very tasty old-school flavor. It’s a sinister, high-octane death metal rush right out of the gate, but the song really reaches escape velocity at about the 2:00 mark when guitarist David Couch launches a jaw-dropping guitar solo over a memorable melody. – No Clean Singing (Reviewing the song “Your Demise”)

Ancient Thrones have a second single “The Sight of Oblivion” off their debut release, under their new name, which continues the immersion into their sweeping saga of a concept album “The Veil”.

Far more technical than before, with lots of challenging riffs and guitar parts than their previous material, Ancient Thrones experimented with diverse time signatures resulting in a more extreme and in your face sound. The lyrics are much more introspective and unforgiving compared to the novel and tongue in cheek lyrics from their past work. The band puts the single into their own words:

“The Sight of Oblivion is a thundering dose of awakening in a foreign place not knowing truly what or who you are anymore. It’s about being free and naive to your interpretation of what the world is. We wrote the entire record from scratch and this was the second song to magically appear. As the true opening to the record, we begin flying out of the gates with thrashing intensity as this song is filled with speeding guitar parts, melodic passages, intense bursting blast beats and comes to a head with dueling twin solos. Welcome to purgatory, as you leave the mortal world behind and enter oblivion.”

“The Veil” is an hour-long musical and lyrical concept record, showcasing the band’s desire for storytelling and pushing them to new heights musically. The new album explores the journey of a man faced with tragedy, his mortality and ultimately the permanence of our actions told through technical soundscapes and haunting atmosphere.

Prepare for the unexpected as you journey along with a cosmic soundscape. Ancient Thrones is recommended for fans of Skeletonwitch, The Red Chord, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

“The Sight of Oblivion” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The full album will be available on Friday, October 30th, 2020 with pre-order on Bandcamp.

About:

Ancient Thrones, formerly “Abysseral Throne”, is a locally acclaimed blackened metal outfit that rebranded to suit major changes in line-up and songwriting.

Formed in 2011, they quickly went to work to establish themselves among their scene and gained local notoriety eventually allowing them the opportunities to open for renowned metal acts from across the globe.

Sean Hickey (drums/vocals) is the sole original founder of Abysseral remaining, Matt LeBlanc joined in 2015 on bass and improved and refined the sound and operation drastically. Once they lost their original singer and guitar player Jonny Rains, Dylan Wallace joined and took over main songwriting duties. Hickey took over completely on vocals with a black/death metal vocal style, and Nick Leslie joined shortly after on the second guitar. Work began on writing a new album which took about 3 months to write the music for. The new material sparked the name change to Ancient Thrones as an homage to one of Hickey’s favorite bands and inspirations, Wolves in the Throne Room.

In 2013 the band released its debut record and its subsequent follow-up in 2016, “Storming The Black Gate”, which was nominated for an East Coast Music Award. Ancient Thrones have toured throughout Canada, and played at several festivals, sharing the stages with bands such as Silverstein, The Agonist, Black Crown Initiate, and Skull Fist.

2020 sees the release of the concept album “The Veil” showcasing the band’s desire for storytelling and pushing them to new heights musically. The new album explores the journey of a man faced with tragedy, his mortality and ultimately the permanence of our actions told through technical soundscapes and haunting atmosphere.

“one of the most promising young bands in the region (Atlantic Canada) right now […] I already can’t wait for the next one. 4/5 stars” – Mettalworx Music Group

“Equally impressive is that no track feels as if it’s been bled of its passion and drive during the writing process; a genuine love of metal in all its forms shines through on each track, making the EP a wonderfully enjoyable 26 minutes.” – The Sound Not The Word (Review 2016 – Storming the Black Gate EP)

“This is some world-class metal, folks, get it, listen to it, and enjoy. And, as a side-note, ‘Storming the Black Gate’ easily stands out as one of the strongest New Brunswick metal releases of all time. Snatch up one of the physical copies before they sell out and the band is signed to Metal Blade or somebody who will do a mass-produced re-release Or find them on Bandcamp.” (Review 2016 – Storming the Black Gate EP)

Canada’s Every Hour Kills will be releasing their new EP “Re:Awaken” due out on October 9th. Each song on the record tells the story of an individual existing in this fragmented future; their struggle to exist amidst the chaos of forces of the elite race and the constant encroaching tide of technology. One of those stories is depicted in the band’s new animated music video for the EP’s title track.

The band adds”

“The title track “Re:Awaken” is a song of hope, as humanity our strength to adapt, overcome and the spark of inner love that can’t be easily extinguished.”

Watch the video for “Re:Awaken” via its premiere on SpaceUntravel‘s YouTube channel HERE.

“Re:Awaken” is a concept album with a rich and colourful story that plays into the lore of Every Hour Kills. It sends the listener into the 22nd century, where humanity is deteriorating and the only help seems to come from a race of aliens, the Illusions. Their proposition was simple: in exchange for children who had not yet been consumed by the plague, they would give us medicine to heal the sick.

As an internet-only project, Every Hour Kills leverages this sole focus in bringing in a wide variety of guest artists that include Shaley Bourget of (Dayshell, ex-Of Mice & Men), Morgan Reid (Bloodshot Dawn), Chris Thoresen (Shark Infested Daughters), Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Meytal), and Rick Graham. The EP also comes with a visual storybook from Splice Comics that supplement the themes of the band.

Geared towards fans of sci-fi, djent, and progressive metal, especially those with Scar Symmetry, Starset, and Bring Me the Horizon in their rotation, “Re:Awaken” comes out on October 9, 2020. EP Pre-Save HERE.

About:

“Every hour wounds, but the last one kills” – Anonymous

Every Hour Kills is a powerhouse ensemble featuring the core of ex-Divinity / Enditol guitarist Sacha Laskow, bassist Brent Stutsky (ex-Breach of Trust), along with vocalist Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (ex-Out of Your Mouth).

The new EP titled ‘Re:Awaken’ set for release on October 9, 2020, tells the stories of individuals existing in this fragmented future; their struggle to exist amidst the chaos of forces of the elite race and the constant encroaching tide of technology. An accompanying illustrated short storybook by Splice Comics will delve even deeper into the EHK lore.

Every Hour Kills was built to challenge the idea of what defines a “band”. Rather, the group sees itself as a constantly evolving musical collective; guest vocalists and soloists across the songs bring their own unique artistry and elevate the collective impact of Every Hour Kills’ brand. The lyrics, artwork, visuals, and themes all look toward the future, asking the key postmodern question of how will emerging technology and our humanity progress and co-exist?

“The band plays a sound of metal sounds extremely modern and melodic, coming across as a mix of Scar Symmetry and Fear Factory, with sprinkles of djent for added flair.” – New Noise Magazine

“Should the band be able to hold this standard on their first full-length album, one has to count on Every Hour Kills in the first league of Modern Metal. CrypticRock gives Every Hour Kills 4.5 out of 5 stars.”

“The song has an amazing feel to it that is uplifting and empowering at the same time and it makes you feel like could run a marathon and finish first place. “ – Headbanger Review

Canada’s Without Mercy have a new album coming out in November and already have a single “The Disaster” ready to throttle listeners around the world.

The album “Seismic” is the fifth release from the band who have garnered praise from metal fans around the world for almost two decades. Unrelenting and diverse, this upcoming offering contains the most tracks to date on a single album from them. Regular listeners and uninitiate soon-to-be fans will adore the song structures, the complex rhythms and the overall diversity that makes up the album. “We really wanted to write something that didn’t slow down much or stop. We wanted to write something that would test the fatigue level of our musicianship. It asks many questions of the listener but will demand that you pay attention and read the lyric sheet. It’s a bold and aggressive track that offers our take on death metal in 2020.”

Without Mercy formed in 2004 and through trial and tribulation, the band grew in fan base and discography. “The thrash-stomp modes on “Worthless” ring like a head-on collision between DECAPITATED and BIOHAZARD with a dash of power metal thrown into the solo section. Alex Friis wrings his throat to huge extremes, hopefully leaving tissue intact as he hits agonizing squeals while throwing indictments against former band members — guess on your own who that might entail. DJ Temple’s guitar work on “Worthless” is terrific..” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Blabbermouth

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet play their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments. Over the course of a decade or so, the band has experienced the same highs and lows as most others, but their successes – which include a small handful of recordings, a bigger handful of tours, and appearances in video games – have been felt at a deeper clip because they’ve essentially managed everything themselves.”  (Mouchido EP 2016) – Decibel Magazine

“In a word, the music rips. And it also thunders, and punches so fast and hard that it’s like a jackhammer-sized nail gun ramming bolts into concrete at high speed while the operator howls and shrieks for all he’s worth, segmented by a start-stop breakdown that will give your skull a good rattling and lit up by swarming guitar flurries that are as fiery as the torches in the video (Burn).” (Mouchido EP 2016) – No Clean Singing

” the band live up to their name with each song on this 4 track EP going for straight for the throat; merciless aural violence and tight, technical proficiency melded with some serious might!” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Worship Metal

“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – PureGrainAudio

“Right from the beginning you feel the weight and the immensity of Mouichido and one listen just doesn’t do it justice. This is a re-release of previously recorded material with a new vocalist and even so, Without Mercy comes out swinging again and knocks it clear out of the park.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Cadaver Garden

“possibly the most savage song to ascend from the depths of the west in a good long while.” – Canadian Beats

Arizona’s King Ov Wyrms Arise With Aggressive Debut Album “Lord Ov Thornes” and Single “Threnody”

“Lord Ov Thornes” Out November 20th

Arizona’s King Ov Wyrms have awoken to release their debut album “Lord Ov Thornes” and it is nothing short of an aural assault of pure mayhem.

The album will be received well by people who sit on both sides of the fence when it comes to modern and old school style metal. It is able to keep up with the demands of modern metal in terms of production, and level of intensity, but has very blatant nods towards Morbid Angel and Bloodbath worship.

Michael Sanchez, the man behind the music says he wants to give people an outlet for their aggression, hatred, depression, or any overwhelming feeling.

The first single “Threnody” is a simple straight forward grinding beast of a song. According to Sanchez, out of all the songs on the album, this one took almost no effort to finish; everything just fell in place and made its own statement as to spearheading this album and arguably the band. He goes further into his explanation of the album:

“’Lord Ov Thornes’ is an album that to me attempts to bridge a gap between the earliest forms of death and black to a more modern approach of metal production, almost like taking Morbid Angel’s “Formulas Fatal To The Flesh” and mashing it with Sulphur Aeons “Gateway To The Antisphere”. These brutal compositions that have been in the works for several years are finally ready to surface from their grim depths and inspire a new wave of death metallers.”

Overall, this album is just a massive testament of death and black metal worship, It’s filled with aggression and dark emotion heralding Satanism and self-destruction. Sonically it’s an assault of pure hatred and power which was Sanchez’s wholehearted intent to deliver something that just burns with hatred.

Recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Bloodbath, and Enthroned, the single “Threnody” is available for download on Kingovwyrms.bandcamp.com and stream on YouTube, Spotify.

The debut album “Lord Ov Thornes” comes out on November 20, 2020.

About:

King Ov Wyrms is homage to classic death and black metal acts of the late ’80s/early ’90s with a touch of modern aggression.

Formed in Tucson, AZ. King came from the want of a more aggressive act when the main band of Michael Sanchez, Pain Patterns, started taking its roots in early 2015. He loved the music he was creating but felt that the band couldn’t fulfill his desire for a purely aggressive musical venture.

The project went through many different lineup changes only to be consistently held together by Sanchez. Having studied classical music and jazz to a degree while growing up, it gave him the tools to write comfortably on his own even in the concept of metal music. He starts out with a basic riff or a small melody line off of a piano and just adds on and on until it manifests into some sort of abomination of sound.

In early 2020 upon Sanchez’s departure from the power metal act Judicator, he decided to pull King out of hiatus but only as a solo effort to produce a full-length album. Over the span of several months, Sanchez was able to completely record all of the songs previously written for King as a full lineup, this time all the music was performed and written solely by him.

King Ov Wyrms will release its debut album “Lord Ov Thornes” on November 20th, 2020, and it will feature lyrical themes encompassing the occult, and a deep love for Lovecraftian horror.

Canada’s The Myopia Condition recently announced their debut album “Event Horizon” and now the second single “Fighting Fables” is out and ready for ears.

The single faces the all too common feeling of self-doubt and fighting the negative voices in your head that intend to drag you down. These negative thoughts are just fables, and this song is the anthem for confronting them and emerging victorious.

“Fighting Fables” was the first song the band started playing together and it’s chock full of raw intensity. The riffs in the song have a beautiful use of dissonance that captivate the minds of listeners and the drums are some of the most intense blast beat spots on the record. The band comments on the single:

“This song was the first song we ever wrote and played together, it made us realize that we had a great vibe together as a band immediately. Right off the hop, it starts out pretty fast and in your face, and continues to build into dissonant rage guitar-wise that reflects the message in the lyrics. Fables is a crowd favourite that showcases our great energy as a band, feeding off each other on stage and it quite often ends the set.”

Intense and intimidating, this song will have you hitting repeat just like the others on “Event Horizon”. Recommended for fans of Death, Gojira, and Beyond Creation this is music to rage to.

“Fighting Fables” can be heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit HERE.

“Event Horizon” will be available on October 16th, 2020.

About:

Through a will to create pure rhythmic brilliant chaos, came a manifestation of power and heaviness from the west Canadian prairies.  The Myopia Condition was created.

It started with a melding of minds between Josh Gould (guitars) and Greg Glenn (drums). Immediately they went to work toying with ideas that had been in Josh’s head for some time. They soon brought in Robert Fearey (big guitars) and the chemistry was immediately noticed. On vocals is the gritty powerhouse Josiah Dyck and finishing off the five-piece on guitars is shred-meister Craig Mackenzie.  The vibe between the boys is vastly apparent. They have found a groove to exploit and continue to refine their sound.

Hailing from Sh-Red Deer, Alberta The Myopia Condition has a sound that combines crushing rhythmic grooves, devastating breakdowns, and ballsy in the pocket riffage. Their influences range from Periphery and Meshuggah to Lamb of God and Oh Sleeper.

In 2018 The Myopia Condition made its way to the Canadian Wacken Metal battle finals which goes to show the hard work and passion these boys put into their music and their stage performance.

The boys have made appearances at festivals such as Armstrong Metalfest and Loud As Hell, and continue to hone their Djent-Core sound. Their debut eight-song album “Event Horizon” is being released on October 16, 2020.

Canadian Grindcore Fuck The Facts Announces New Album “Pleine Noirceur”

Premiere Music Video For Title Track via MetalInjection

It’s been half a decade since Fuck The Facts’ last release, Juno nominated “Desire Will Rot”, but the band continues right where they left off, offering up another slab of their patented “bastardized” grindcore full of all the twists and turns that fans have come to expect.  Their new album, “Pleine Noirceur”, set for release on November 20th via the band’s very own Noise Salvation label, and is introduced with a video single for the release’s title track, which can be viewed and heard via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

Fuck The Facts has amassed a respectable discography over the years, and this new offering joins the 7 LPs and 6 EPs released to date. The considerable amount of time the band has been working together shows in the natural chemistry that courses through each of the 12 tracks. Fuck The Facts comments on the album:

“We took a long break before working on this album, I feel like it’s a collection of bits and pieces; old and new, short and long. It’s us working back into the groove, just in time for a pandemic. This album also could have easily been 3 EPs, you really have to listen to the whole thing in order to fully enjoy it. It opens the door for what is next.”

What started as a basement recording project in the late 90s has blossomed into one of the most prolific bands in the Canadian extreme underground scene. Fuck The Facts have always been more about making albums than just writing songs, using what’s left over for a separate EP, but this time around they decided to put the extra songs as bonus tracks on the different physical copies of the release, so the vinyl, CD and cassette versions will each have a different bonus track that’s not available on the digital release.

The unapologetic, experimental album probably needs a few listens in order to fully enjoy. Put some noise-canceling headphones, choose your drug of choice, close your eyes, and enjoy.

Recommended for fans of Cephalic Carnage, Exhumed, and Morbid Angel, “Pleine Noirceur” will be available in several different formats on November 20, 2020.

About:

Started as a recording project in the late ’90s, it wasn’t until 2001 that the work ethic that produced a slew of underground releases drove Fuck The Facts towards full band status and into the live arena. Since then, the Ottawa-based unit has barely stopped for a breath of reconsideration, associating themselves with some of the biggest labels in underground extreme music, as well as continuing a steady output of DIY releases. Having toured hundreds of thousands of kilometers throughout North America and Europe, guitarist/founder Topon Das, vocalist Mel Mongeon and drummer Mathieu Vilandré have performed as some of the biggest festivals and sweated it out in some of the smallest basements. From 2006-2011 Fuck the Facts released three albums via underground powerhouse label, Relapse Records.  Upon the completion of their contract, the quintet decided it was time to put the finishing touches on the proverbial full-circle, returning to the world of fierce independence and creative control. Their most recent releases were produced entirely at their own studio, self-released, and shows Fuck The Facts efforts as an entity continuing to grow musically and personally while developing a deeper understanding of what significance their art holds to them. As one of the longest-running and most recognizable names in Canadian Grindcore, FUCK THE FACTS continue to deliver their brand of “Bastardized Grindcore” with no end in sight.

Autocatalytica is a bubbling cauldron of scatter-brained prog-metal insanity helmed by guitarist/vocalist Eric Thorfinnson. The newest release for the band is “Powerclashing Maximalism”, which is coming out on October 16th of this year. In anticipation of the release, Autocatalytica is releasing the second single “Cheggo” today. The track is described by the band as “A jazzy take on Math rock with its fair share of freneticism.”.

Listen to “Cheggo” via its premiere on HeavyBlogIsHeavy HERE.

Formed as a solo project in 2009, as an expressive outlet for Thorfinnson’s abstract angst and penchant for everything over the top. Thorfinnson has always drawn inspiration from a vast collage of different artists resulting in a sound that is sure to surprise and intrigue listeners of all persuasions.

The LP “Powerclashing Maximalism” is the band third and it explores all corners of Autocatalytica’s sound in a tight 36-minute runtime over eight tracks, from the Meshuggah-esque stomp of “Borndun” to the Jazzy Math Rock of “Cheggo”. While at this time Autocatalytica exists solely as a recording project, no one knows what the future holds!

Thorfinnson’s comments on the album:

“‘Powerclashing Maximalism’ is an expression of the many different facets of progressive and heavy music I am engaging at this point in my life, with little to no regard for thematic consistency between tracks. Each song is a fully realized Island of uniqueness that expresses something totally different from the previous one. On the last record, I felt like I was really losing perspective with what was good and quality (especially in the vocal department) seeing as I did so much of it completely isolated. With this record I really wanted to move away from that mindset and integrate as many collaborators as possible to create a sort of “Broken Social Scene” of metal type vibe. This was a fantastically inspiring experience and I am really grateful for having been able to work with so many different amazing musicians throughout the process.”

For fans of Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, and Protest The Hero, the full release will be available on October 16th.

“With a bewildering, cross-pollinated sound that makes The Dillinger Escape Plan sound like Nickelback, the math-metal crew Autocatalytica are pushing the boundaries so far that they may just fall off the world’s edge…  While the math-metal scene seems to have stayed in the same creative spot for the last 15 years, Autocatalytica’s music exists in its own psychotic realm, wherein jazz-tinged extremity and melodic mazes conjure a disorientating blur of psychedelic noise. The band have also earned themselves a formidable reputation as a truly mind-bending live act.” – Metal Hammer

“Crazy mathcore meets jazz-infused progressive music and avant-garde… Fabulously unique and always thrilling”- Metal Trenches

“Autocatalytica aren’t alone in bringing in so many outsides elements into a mathcore-focused sound, they are definitely one of the most ambitious and grandest groups I’ve heard do so to date.” – No Clean Singing
