Hailing from Red Deer, Canada, The Myopia Condition is thrilled to be releasing their debut album “Event Horizon” this coming Friday, October 16th and before it officially drops, the record’s full stream is being premiered today on Bravewords HERE.

Vigorous, and tight, “Event Horizon” is composed of nine heavy tracks that take the listener through a range of emotions, with relatable themes and crushing guitars. The band shares their excitement in their own words:

“This album has something for every metalhead in our opinion, especially those inclined to listen to overtly heavy metal. Rhythmically the band’s tightness and aggressiveness leave the audience stunned and wanting more. The harmonized screams, out of pocket riffage, chaotic thunder drums, and beautifully tasteful leads compile into a pretty awesome album. We can’t wait for the public to get a listen and we look forward to the future of this band.”

Three of the songs on the album were written a decade ago, with no intention of ever seeing the light, however, these three songs got the ball rolling, and the result is fast riffs, heavy breakdowns, and huge sound. The listener is in for a ride as they experience adrenaline-inducing riffage, high-intensity technical drumming that is spun into crushing buildups and breakdowns, tied together with blood curdling vocal highs and lows belting out passionate lyrics.

For a debut album, this is a solid offering that exemplifies years of musicianship and true chemistry that radiates from The Myopia Condition.

Recommended for fans of Gojira, Beyond Creation and As I Lay Dying, “Event Horizon” will be available on October 16th, 2020 on digital sales platforms.

About:

Through a will to create pure rhythmic brilliant chaos, came a manifestation of power and heaviness from the west Canadian prairies.  The Myopia Condition was created.

It started with a melding of minds between Josh Gould (guitars) and Greg Glenn (drums). Immediately they went to work toying with ideas that had been in Josh’s head for some time. They soon brought in Robert Fearey (big guitars) and the chemistry was immediately noticed. On vocals is the gritty powerhouse Josiah Dyck and finishing off the five-piece on guitars is shred-meister Craig Mackenzie.  The vibe between the boys is vastly apparent. They have found a groove to exploit and continue to refine their sound.

Hailing from Sh-Red Deer, Alberta The Myopia Condition has a sound that combines crushing rhythmic grooves, devastating breakdowns, and ballsy in the pocket riffage. Their influences range from Periphery and Meshuggah to Lamb of God and Oh Sleeper.

In 2018 The Myopia Condition made its way to the Canadian Wacken Metal battle finals which goes to show the hard work and passion these boys put into their music and their stage performance.

The boys have made appearances at festivals such as Armstrong Metalfest and Loud As Hell, and continue to hone their Djent-Core sound. Their debut eight-song album “Event Horizon” is being released on October 16, 2020.

Canada’s The Myopia Condition will be unleashing their debut album “Event Horizon” this October. Featuring elegant grooves mashed together with blast beats and double kicks, along with guitar leads that sing like birds, the record is full of energy from front to back; even the soft bits are heavy. It’s a very real and genuine full length both lyrically and musically along with hints of goofy amongst. The Myopia Condition doesn’t take life too seriously, but they pour passion into their music.

The band adds:

“We believe people will really dig the album. Especially our local metal family. We always hear good things after we play our local shows. (which we miss immensely) And I think they will appreciate finally having some of our stuff to play outside of live shows. As far as possible new fans? If they enjoy metal, I think they will be pleasantly surprised with something fresh and new.”

Today, before “Event Horizon” officially drops on October 16th, they have teamed up with TheProgspace for the premiere of their third single “AfterLife”.

The band comments:

“This song is about those who live with a hidden evildoing and just play it off like it doesn’t exist. Whether it is a partner who is having an affair or a child molester or rapist or murderer or one that even just spreads false words for their gain. I don’t understand how one could live with themselves after harming another human being in such ways and just play it off like it doesn’t bother their heart or soul. In time, the filth you are hiding will eventually catch up with you. You will be found out. Time is not on your side.

Canada’s The Myopia Condition recently announced their debut album “Event Horizon” and now the second single “Fighting Fables” is out and ready for ears.

The single faces the all too common feeling of self-doubt and fighting the negative voices in your head that intend to drag you down. These negative thoughts are just fables, and this song is the anthem for confronting them and emerging victorious.

“Fighting Fables” was the first song the band started playing together and it’s chock full of raw intensity. The riffs in the song have a beautiful use of dissonance that captivate the minds of listeners and the drums are some of the most intense blast beat spots on the record. The band comments on the single:

“This song was the first song we ever wrote and played together, it made us realize that we had a great vibe together as a band immediately. Right off the hop, it starts out pretty fast and in your face, and continues to build into dissonant rage guitar-wise that reflects the message in the lyrics. Fables is a crowd favourite that showcases our great energy as a band, feeding off each other on stage and it quite often ends the set.”

Intense and intimidating, this song will have you hitting repeat just like the others on “Event Horizon”. Recommended for fans of Death, Gojira, and Beyond Creation this is music to rage to.

“Fighting Fables” can be heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit HERE.

“Event Horizon” will be available on October 16th, 2020.

Canada’s The Myopia Condition is very excited to be releasing their debut album “Event Horizon” on October 16, 2020.

Elegant grooves are mashed together with blast beats and double kicks, along with guitar leads that sing like birds. The album is full of energy from front to back; even the soft bits are heavy. It’s a very real and genuine record both lyrically and musically along with hints of goofy amongst. The Myopia Condition doesn’t take life too seriously, but they pour passion into their music.

“Event Horizon” has great depth to it, with dynamically diverse songs that evoke emotion from listeners. The Myopia Condition further explains the album in their own words:

“This album has something for every metalhead, in my opinion, especially those inclined to listen to overtly heavy metal. Rhythmically the band’s tightness and aggressiveness leave the audience stunned and wanting more.”

The Myopia Condition is an adrenaline-packed live experience as witnessed at local festivals and shows. They are antsy to return to the stage, but in the meantime offer this album while we wait for the world to return to normal.

Today, the band is sharing their first single “Separation From Classification”.

The track talks about finding your own voice instead of following the in-crowd. An anthem for coming as you are and not just sticking to the status quo, it encourages being kind, real, non-judgemental. Starting at a medium pace it builds into thrash and slows down in the middle for some tasteful cleans and jazzy leads. The song continues on with some heavy vocals and harmonized screams, ultimately finishing off with one of the tastier riffs on the album.

Recommended for fans of Oh Sleeper, Death, and Gojira, The Myopia Condition will surprise metalheads with something fresh and new.

“Separation From Classification” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

““Separation From Classification” proves to be a mix of moods and sensations, as well as stylistic accents. Through dragging chords, a lumbering gait, and wailing notes it manifests gloom and despair. A ringing riff creates a sense of coiling tension and encroaching menace. Swirling leads dose the mind with feelings of eeriness and dread. It erupts in bouts of jackhammering brutishness and drops low-end detonations. And about three minutes in, the band create a stark juxtaposition, beginning with a moody yet enthralling guitar solo and then exploding in an assault of pulverizing rhythms, soaring yet ominous melody, and frantic fret-burning mayhem. Throughout, the vocals create their own juxtapositions, veering from heartless growls to skin-splitting shrieks but continually amplifying the song’s intensity. The combination of all these sensations creates a visceral response, and the overarching mood is one that seems to combine anxiety and beleaguerment with fierce defiance.” – No Clean Singing

“I love genre mashups, and the debut record from Canadian group The Myopia Condition mixes the ideal ingredients for a hot & spicy chaos cocktail. Clocking in at 28 minutes, “Event Horizon” is a short and compact release, but one that will jolt and drill your brains so fiercely that you’ll be begging for mercy. This hard-hitting beastie runs on a drilling deathcore motor and a djenty gearbox boosted by a tech-death turbine that allows it to take you from 0 to 60 head injuries in just under 4 seconds.” – The Prog Space

“The Myopia Condition don’t waste any time teasing and they go straight for the jugular. “Event Horizon” is superbly technical and madly aggressive all the way through. The production is clean and hi-fi, showcasing all sounds and textures in great quality, but it also allows the grit and grind to scrape your ears. There are some stand-out moments like the menacing keyboard driven intro, the clean guitar and bass break in  ‘Separation from Classification’ and the use of shouty clean vocals in ‘Fighting Fables’. When it’s all wrapped, we have a nasty little 28 minute devil that takes no prisoners and also shows a remarkable degree of creativity! 8/10 ” – The Prog Space

“The Myopia Condition showcase some serious skill and killer musicianship with their debut release. Watch out for their release this fall and prepare to get shaken!” – The Independent Voice

“”Event Horizon” is not a long album, just twenty-eight minutes consisting of eight tracks and an intro, but it’s what The Myopia Condition manage to squeeze into this time frame that really matters. It’s an intense and well filled album that demonstrates a lot of seriously good musicianship. An engaging meld of crushing rhythmic grooves, devastating breakdowns and face searing growls all delivered as very ambitiously constructed tracks that ooze technical excellence and brutality in a very engaging manner that results in an all-out assault on the senses. 4.5/5” – The Metal Wanderlust

“If you listen to one album this week that you haven’t heard before; make it this one. You won’t be disappointed. [8.5/10]” – Metal Noise

““Event Horizon” is a reflection of approach desolation with an array of weapons and, as such, takes the fight against this inevitable ending. If you are going to tell a story, then you need to tell it well – and here the precision, the delivery and the language are executed with the craft of an ancient fabulist. 8/10” – CVLT Legion

“The worlds of technical death metal and metalcore rarely, if ever meet, but I think I’ve just stumbled upon the purest combination of the two that money can buy, and it’s actually really badass! Meet The Myopia Condition, they’re a Canadian act, and this is their first album, Event Horizon. It’s pretty short, as it clocks in at under 30 minutes, but it packs a punch all the same. You can hear a lot of Meshuggah, Veil Of Maya, and modern tech death like Inferi in their sound, but they have a flare that’s all their own.” – Noob Heavy

“Event Horizon is an impressive debut” – Scream Blast Repeat

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS FROM THE BAND

1. Loud As Hell festival is always a crazy memory fuzzed time. You sorta get on the liquor train with all the games and fun everyone has going on. Whether it be beersbie or beer bongs. Beer anything really. Anyways our guitarist Josh had a bit too much of the beer indulging the day before our set. We played early afternoon and as some of you may know it gets freakin’ hot in that Drumheller area. I (Josiah) remember looking over at Josh near the end of our set and he was looking like something wasn’t right. After the set, he ran out back and hurled. hahaha. None the less he was a trooper and killed the set and we put on a wicked show.

2. Festivals are always the most fun. When we played Armstrong Fest we got to do an interview with Taylor Made Studios. It was awesome. We all sat in a pool and answered in a goofy manner. It’s funny though because out of all the interviews we have had, for some reason Josh hasn’t found his way into one of them. Hopefully one of these times he will be able to jump in a pool and answer some questions with us.

3. This moment was at the last battle of the bands for Wacken Metal Battle Canada. It was our last song of the set, Fighting Fables. Right at the beginning one of Greggins kicks had a malfunction. It’s crazy because he had to play the rest of the set with just one kick. And if you listen to that song you should be impressed by that. hahaha. The funny thing is if you watch the live video of it you can just see the sheer “uh oh” moment in Greggins face. But he recovered like the beast that he is and finished off the set using just one kick.

4. Song 9000 actually was the writing name of the track. I (Josiah) just took too long figuring out a name for it and the boys were just like, “Let’s just keep the name Song 9000.” It is one of those things that just shows our goofy side I suppose. Lyrics are far from the name of the song, but hey, it’s a sweet title none the less.
