Vancouver’s Ysgaroth are releasing their debut album “Storm Over a Black Sea” and it is rife with vicious riffs and thought-provoking atmosphere.

The first single to entice listeners is “Sacred”. It contains a simple message: despite its imperfections, life is beautiful. The world we’ve been given is an amazing thing that should be protected and celebrated, and we owe it everything we are and have. The cycle of life and death is so much greater than any single person, and it is the one constant that we can rely on. We are born from the ashes of the old, and so will the new be born from the ashes of ourselves. Ysgaroth continues with how the track came to be:

“Unlike most Ysgaroth songs that come from the verses being written first, the chorus was actually the first piece of this song that we came up with. Sacred also slowly got faster and faster as we started practicing it until it became the thrash-influenced ripper it is today.”

Ysgaroth was initially formed as a studio black metal project but over time, a lineup was fleshed out and the songs got more structurally ambitious, a sludge influence began to creep into the band along with tinges of hardcore-influenced drumming and exceptional musical bass playing alongside razor-sharp guitars

Anyone who has seen Ysgaroth live and liked what they’ve heard will love this – and we hope those who are on the fence will probably love it too.

Recommended for fans of Skeletonwitch, Enslaved, and Wolves in the Throne Room, the single “Sacred” and its music video can be heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit HERE.

“Storm Over a Black Sea” will be available on November 13, 2020

About:

Ysgaroth is a progressive extreme metal band conjured in Vancouver, Canada that seamlessly blends elements of various metal subgenres into a vicious hybrid.

Initially, Ysgaroth started as Kurt Steigler’s black metal studio project, a non-serious musical outlet, but over time he grew attached to the songs and wanted to take them live.

With the desire to hit the stage, Steigler (guitar/vocals) was joined by Steve Cuddington (drums) and Shawn Hillman (bass) With these additions, the songs got more structurally ambitious, a sludge influence began to creep into the band. Cuddington brings an absolutely crushing, hardcore-influenced drumming style that gave the songs a new vitality, and Hillman’s exceptionally musical bass playing served as the perfect bridge between the crushing drums and razor-sharp guitars. Ultimately, the sound of the band became a mix of its black metal roots, classic 80’s death metal, 90’s thrash, and sludge with the long compositions of post-metal and the shifting, churning time signatures of progressive metal. Steigler is the main songwriter, but overall the process is hugely democratic.

The debut album from the band “Storm Over a Black Sea” will be unearthed on November 13th, 2020, and considering the growing amount of music they have been writing – fans can expect a lot more from Ysgaroth.

Canada’s The Myopia Condition will be unleashing their debut album “Event Horizon” this October. Featuring elegant grooves mashed together with blast beats and double kicks, along with guitar leads that sing like birds, the record is full of energy from front to back; even the soft bits are heavy. It’s a very real and genuine full length both lyrically and musically along with hints of goofy amongst. The Myopia Condition doesn’t take life too seriously, but they pour passion into their music.

The band adds:

“We believe people will really dig the album. Especially our local metal family. We always hear good things after we play our local shows. (which we miss immensely) And I think they will appreciate finally having some of our stuff to play outside of live shows. As far as possible new fans? If they enjoy metal, I think they will be pleasantly surprised with something fresh and new.”

Today, before “Event Horizon” officially drops on October 16th, they have teamed up with TheProgspace for the premiere of their third single “AfterLife”.

The band comments:

“This song is about those who live with a hidden evildoing and just play it off like it doesn’t exist. Whether it is a partner who is having an affair or a child molester or rapist or murderer or one that even just spreads false words for their gain. I don’t understand how one could live with themselves after harming another human being in such ways and just play it off like it doesn’t bother their heart or soul. In time, the filth you are hiding will eventually catch up with you. You will be found out. Time is not on your side.

Listen to “AfterLife” HERE.

Recommended for fans of Death, Gojira, and Beyond Creation, “Event Horizon” will be available on October 16th, 2020 on digital sales platforms.

About:

Through a will to create pure rhythmic brilliant chaos, came a manifestation of power and heaviness from the west Canadian prairies.  The Myopia Condition was created.

It started with a melding of minds between Josh Gould (guitars) and Greg Glenn (drums). Immediately they went to work toying with ideas that had been in Josh’s head for some time. They soon brought in Robert Fearey (big guitars) and the chemistry was immediately noticed. On vocals is the gritty powerhouse Josiah Dyck and finishing off the five-piece on guitars is shred-meister Craig Mackenzie.  The vibe between the boys is vastly apparent. They have found a groove to exploit and continue to refine their sound.

Hailing from Sh-Red Deer, Alberta The Myopia Condition has a sound that combines crushing rhythmic grooves, devastating breakdowns, and ballsy in the pocket riffage. Their influences range from Periphery and Meshuggah to Lamb of God and Oh Sleeper.

In 2018 The Myopia Condition made its way to the Canadian Wacken Metal battle finals which goes to show the hard work and passion these boys put into their music and their stage performance.

The boys have made appearances at festivals such as Armstrong Metalfest and Loud As Hell, and continue to hone their Djent-Core sound. Their debut eight-song album “Event Horizon” is being released on October 16, 2020.

Out Today! Helion Prime “Question Everything” + New Music Video For Title Track

New Album “Question Everything” Out October 5th (North America) (Saibot Reigns)
October 28th (Japan) (Ward Records)

Out Now! Helion Prime unleash their new album “Question Everything”  available as of October 5th in North America along with Europe via their label Saibot Reigns. The Japanese CD version will be available via Ward Records on October 28th and will feature two exclusive bonus tracks “Prof (Demo)” and “Rain (Trivium Cover)” (track listing below) and is available for pre-order HERE. The North American/EU album is available at Helionprimemetal.com (CD), Apple Music, and Spotify.

In celebration of the full-length release, the band is sharing their music video for the title track that features guest vocals from former band members Heather Michele (ex-Graveshadow, ex-Helion Prime) and Sozos Michael (ex-Helion Prime, Planeswalker).

Guitarist Jason Ashcraft adds:

“It was very exciting getting to work with Heather again on this album, but what makes the title track very special to me is having both Heather and Sozos appear on it. A lot of people don’t understand that we are all still a close family and love working together. When bands have to let go of members it’s not always for negative reasons. I think this song really managed to capture Helion Prime at its core.”

Watch “Question Everything”  on YouTube.

“Question Everything” was produced by Jason Ashcraft and Alex Nasla. Mixing was done by Chris Collier and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima along with additional mixing/drum edits/reamping plus writing and performance of keyboard arrangements by Alex Nasla of Gear Gods Studio. Guitar/Bass edits by Michael Goodrich and cover art by Marc Whisnant.

It’s been about two years since the band’s sophomore release “Terror of the Cybernetic Space Monster” and Sacramento sci-fi power metallers Helion Prime returns with their third effort and the much shorter title “Question Everything” set for release on Monday, October 5th, 2020 via their label Saibot Reigns.  This is Helion Prime‘s first album with new vocalist Mary Zimmer, who has also accompanied the band on two separate tours of the United States. It also sees the band’s original singer, Heather Michele, returning in a writing capacity and contributing all lyrics and melodies. Heather Michele also along with other former Helion Prime vocalist Sozos Michael and with John Yelland (Judicator/Dire Peril) add their guest vocals on the full length.

The highly anticipated third record is a concept album, with each song revolving around different figures throughout human history that had the courage to question the status quo of their respective worlds/societies, in some cases even dealing with harsh persecution as a result. Those Helion Prime chose to write about-faced prejudice, mockery, ex-communication, and persecution – yet through it all, they held true to their beliefs and ideas. Time would be their greatest ally as their ideas and identities were eventually validated, oftentimes not until after their passing. They serve as an inspiration for all minds to continue thinking outside the box and staying true to themselves.

0 Canada’s T-Rex Marathon Get Back To Punk Roots With “Sheltered” Off “Days Without Incident”; Premiere Music Video via NewFuryMedia

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 2, 2020

For fans of Silverstein, Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, A Day to Remember, Taking Back Sunday

Canada’s T-Rex Marathon Get Back To Punk Roots With “Sheltered” Off “Days Without Incident”

Premiere Music Video via NewFuryMedia

“Days Without Incident” Out October 16, 2020

L-R- Alex Hodges (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Toppings (bass, vocals), Darien Swolfs (drums), Adam Sakauye (lead vocals) and Aaron Stafford (guitar, vocals)

T-Rex Marathon is bringing energetic, authentic pop-punk and post-hardcore to the world from their hometown of Ottawa, Canada.

The band expects long time fans to be able to appreciate hearing the songs they’ve been hearing live for years, but also experience a new direction the group is heading in going forward. The continuous upward trend exhibited by the band moves from standard power chord punk to being more mature, more challenging, and more refined. This has indirectly resulted in a slight softening up of the sound, but it’s also more dynamic and interesting.

The single “Sheltered” is a fine blend of interesting melodies, driving rhythms, poetic lyrics, catchy chorus, with a little bit of fun sprinkled throughout. If there was one song that would be the quintessential T-Rex Marathon piece, here it is. The band expands on it in their own words:

“Musically, the song is not complex, and yet it does exactly what it needs to do at any given point. It’s a perfect example of restraint and tastefulness and the whole band working in service of a larger musical idea. It’s beautiful, it’s charming, and it’s heavy when it needs to be. It’s also a demonstration of a wide dynamic range that conveys a wide array of emotions.”

The third single off their first full length only marks a continued drive for the band to make accessible music for fans looking to connect with their past and also look brightly towards the future. The band cites that fans can expect smaller releases that lean more on the conceptual end and more musical experimentation.

For fans of Alexisonfire, A Day to Remember, and Taking Back Sunday, “Sheltered” is one of the more straightforward punk tunes that play with the tempo at times and is the kind of song you can get lost in.

“Sheltered” can be heard via its music video premiere on NewFuryMedia HERE.

For fans of Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, and A Day to Remember, the full release of “Days Without Incident” is out on October 16, 2020. Album pre-order at T-rexmarathon.bandcamp.com. Apple Music, Spotify pre-save here.

About:

Starting out on the Ottawa metal/hardcore scene, T-Rex Marathon has adopted a unique sound that comes from a mix of Alternative Rock, Punk, and Post-Hardcore.

Formed by friends in high school, the band began to really take shape almost by accident and through dumb luck. The current lineup consists of Aaron Stafford (guitar/bass/keys/vocals), Adam Sakauye (lead vocals), Alex Hodges (guitar/bass/keys/vocals), Darien Swolfs (drums/percussion), and Jeremy Toppings (bass/vocals).

In a fiercely democratic writing process, every single member has input and a veto, sometimes resulting in a very long but completely organic process resulting in a synthesis of something everyone is happy with. As the band progresses, so does the love and attention that is put into each and everything they produce. The T-Rex Marathon family is and has always been, dedicated to making kick-ass music and leaving a mark in the industry, not only for them, but for their fans.

The boys in T-Rex, as the band is called for short, endlessly value their dedicated fans, affectionately known as Marathoners. After all, it is for them that they continue to write about what they want and play what feels right. T-Rex Marathon’s music is a simple blend of attack and melody that has the main goal of being not only fun to play, but fun to listen and rock out to.

The stage is a performing area, and this band refuses to give anything but their all at every show. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with bands such as: Of Burning Empires, Flesh Over Faith, Faithful Unto Death, and Project Mantra. They have also played Wretched Fest 1&3, Unite and Ignite 2012, 2014.

To date, the band has released 2 EPs Aurelia (2017), Eponymous (2016), and are readying to share with fans their first full length ” Days Without Incident ” due out October 16th, 2020.

“Each band member draws in a different musical influence, from Alexisonfire (post-hardcore) to Blink-182 (pop-punk), to even Coheed and Cambria (progressive rock), creating a sound that is impossible to be kept in a box.” – Asha Swann

“For fans of hardcore, punk and just good rock n roll, people from all over the spectrum should get on this!” – Punkanormal Activity

Canada’s Skyless Aeons will be unleashing their new album “Drain The Sun” via CDN Records on October 2nd, 2020. Before the record officially drops, they have teamed with MetalInsider.net for its full stream HERE.

Meticulous and methodical, the writing process for “Drain The Sun” was roughly two years long to follow their debut EP “The Era of Famine” released in 2016. This new album adds more progressive, technical, and yet somehow more deliberate and doomy influences simultaneously, leading to a more progressive death metal sound.

The band comments on “Drain The Sun”:

“We are extremely excited to finally be releasing our first full-length “Drain the Sun”. On our previous EP four years ago, we were more focused on paying tribute to some of our favourite bands and getting every good idea we had onto a recording. With our new album, we wanted to create something that felt like a complete album from front to back. On “Drain the Sun” we have found our true sound, one that adds more from death, doom, and progressive metal to create a more atmospheric experience. Expect the same melodic turbulence and technical flourishes as before, with a darker, more dissonant approach all our own that we hope will bring in a variety of new extreme metal fans.”

About:

Around 2014, guitarist Nicholas Luck and drummer Martin Burchill met as a result of an errant bus ride in London, Canada. At this time, Burchill was looking for a stable project after drumming in various rock/punk/metal bands over the last decade or so, and Luck, only 18 at the time, was looking to start a death metal band.

Vocalist Nathan Ferreira and bassist Steve Oliva followed shortly after and with a scathing collective disdain for the larger structures of society and a commitment to constant evolution in sound and ethos the band recorded and released the “Era of Famine” EP in 2016.

The band has already gained a reputation through local shows as one of the more unique and energetic death metal bands in the scene, opening up for artists such as Ashbringer, The Convalescence, Nesseria, and Killitorous – a wide variety of styles, yet somehow, Skyless Aeons shares musical similarities with all of them.

At a live show, one can expect certain synchronicity and chemistry that can only come from years of experience and practice feeding off of each other’s ideas. Couple that with vocalist Ferreira’s on-stage recklessness mixed with unusually sardonic and self-deprecating stage banter, and it’s no surprise that Skyless Aeons are gaining notoriety and drawing more and more people to their local performances as of late.

2020 brings a new album “Drain the Sun”; it takes a different approach, using much heavier and expansive riffing textures and shows refining and maturation of the band’s identity. It can best be described as “; progressive death metal” with some dissonant, doom-influenced leanings.

0 Indulge Yourself With Video “Revelation” From Lyonen’s Debut Album “This is Lyonen”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 1, 2020

For fans of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Stratovarius, Helloween, Avenged Sevenfold

Indulge Yourself With Video “Revelation” From Lyonen’s Debut Album “This is Lyonen”

Tato Rivas – Guitarist and Producer – Photo Credit: Barbara Gomez

Luis “Tato” Rivas is fueled by a passion for music, and willingness to spread his message through his solo-project, Lyonen. This comes forth in his debut album “This is Lyonen” released on August 13th, 2020.

Lyonen will have listeners engulfed into the world he creates with his innate talent and powerful compositions. Lyonen is an artist to keep an eye on and ear out for as he is set to cement himself in the music industry for years to come. Rivas shares his excitement about this album:

“This is the beginning of a dream. This album represents a younger version of me trying to reach dreams that were perturbed by opinions, lack of support from family. The cover art is inspired by that boy looking at the horizon with a clear vision of what he wanted, many emotions, and a huge challenge. This album for me is a way to say “I can” no matter what. In the middle of the pandemic without a job without money I said, I am going to do this, and I did it. I want to prove that anyone can do anything they want.”

The track “Revelation” is about not being engrossed in the lives of others and how you need the courage to do your own thing. The lyric, “the weak men always die” infers that a man with no passion is just an empty soul running on autopilot. Soaring powerful vocals are provided by the UK’s Craig Cairns.

Recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Helloween, and Stratovarius, this release is just the tip of the iceberg for Lyonen; music is constantly being written and there are plans for a follow up album next year.

The album is out now and available on Apple Music, Spotify, and Lyonen.com/music.

His profound influence in metal icons like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Helloween, Joe Satriani, Stratovarius, and much more motivated him to hold his position gracefully as a Guitarist, Music Producer, Composer, and Audio Engineer for his band Lyonen.

So far, Tato has been passionate about Heavy Metal, but he aims to produce music in other genres, such as Pop, Classical, and more. Tato Rivas – under the name of Lyonen – is all set for releasing his much-anticipated Debut Album named “This is Lyonen,” which is scheduled to release on 13th August 2020 on all mainstream music platforms like Spotify, iTunes, Youtube Music, Deezer, and many more.

Imperishable is a brand new extreme metal band out of South Carolina. Created by NILE guitarist Brian Kingsland, they are off to a solid start with plans to release the EP “Revelation In Purity”(release date to be determined). Before presenting the final cut, the band is introducing themselves with their debut single, “Exclusion Continuum”. The track is dark, aggressive and catches the overall feel of the forthcoming EP, which summons riffs molded around power rather than flash. No overthinking, just pure unadulterated metal.

Joined by Alex Rush (bass) and Tommy Harrison (drums), the trio is determined to deliver ferocious material while retaining memorable hooks. Grinding, yet, groovy this mindset allows the group to focus on what inspires them; head banging compositions.

When asked what fans can expect from them, Kingsland responds:

“If you enjoy lots of technical wanky guitar, overly polished production; you won’t enjoy this record. This album will be more old school and raw. Topics lean heavily on self-confidence and strength in one’s beliefs. We shred, but only when it fits the composition. This band is all about the riffs and songwriting.”

Recommended for fans of Angelcorpse, Emperor, and Obituary, Imperishable is getting your attention with a swift kick in the teeth!

Watch the music video for the debut single “Exclusion Continuum” via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

The single is available for download on Bandcamp, Apple Music and stream on Spotify.

The release of their debut EP will be announced at later date.

About:

Imperishable is an extreme metal side project created by Brian Kingsland (Nile/Enthean), who writes the majority of the music, plays guitar and takes up vocal duty, with contributions from bassist Alex Rush (Enthean), and the pummeling drums of Tommy Harrison.

From South Carolina, the band was started as an outlet for Kingsland’s musical ideas that didn’t necessarily fit with his other bands; the predominant influences are the darkness of black metal and the power of death metal; namely, Emperor, Angelcorpse, and Morbid Angel.

The writing process for the band varies between the songs, Kingsland is always writing, tracking ideas with a growing repertoire waiting to be refined. With accommodations for musical personalities and influences, the song takes shape, with Kingsland’s lyrics adding the final touch. Lyrical themes are generally up to listener interpretation, but largely positive, confident and have some real-life application thrown in.

Conceived in late-2019, Imperishable will be releasing a four-track EP “Revelation In Purity” (date to be determined), which is produced and mixed by Kingsland. Mastered by Jamie King. There will likely be more music coming from the band in the future.

Canada’s Without Mercy have their new album “Seismic” coming out in November and recently unleashed the first single “The Disaster” to throttle listeners around the world.

Teaming up with GuitarWorld today, guitarist DJ Temple is showcasing the shred on the track with the premiere of his playthrough that can be viewed HERE.

Temple adds:

“‘The Disaster’ was written to be unrelenting. Showing the best example of yourself under the worst conditions. Read the lyrics, they’ll get you there. I’m using my killer Schecter JL series on this track and running it down with Ernie ball strings and EMG 707’s. Then a single patch cable that runs to my kemper power rack and blasting through my EVH 4×12. Dunlop was my pick of choice on this record as well. Easter egg fans may notice a bracelet on my left hand which nods homage to an organization I’m proud of.”

The lyric video for “The Disaster” can also be viewed on YouTube.

Single download and stream are available on Apple Music, Spotify HERE.

Without Mercy’s forthcoming album “Seismic” is the fifth release from the band who have garnered praise from metal fans around the world for almost two decades. Unrelenting and diverse, this upcoming offering contains the most tracks to date on a single album from them. Regular listeners and uninitiate soon-to-be fans will adore the song structures, the complex rhythms and the overall diversity that makes up the album. The lyrical content will have them reflecting and invested while the relentless attitude of the compositions brings them to a new level of satisfaction. Featured on the album are metal titans Chris Broderick and Jeff Loomis.

Without Mercy formed in 2004 and through trial and tribulation, the band grew in fan base and discography. Producing material and touring bountifully, it resulted in accolades and awards and even features on video games. Over the years, they have grown and matured as musicians and people, each bringing different ideas to the table that they wanted to express.

“The thrash-stomp modes on “Worthless” ring like a head-on collision between DECAPITATED and BIOHAZARD with a dash of power metal thrown into the solo section. Alex Friis wrings his throat to huge extremes, hopefully leaving tissue intact as he hits agonizing squeals while throwing indictments against former band members — guess on your own who that might entail. DJ Temple’s guitar work on “Worthless” is terrific..” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Blabbermouth

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet play their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments. Over the course of a decade or so, the band has experienced the same highs and lows as most others, but their successes – which include a small handful of recordings, a bigger handful of tours, and appearances in video games – have been felt at a deeper clip because they’ve essentially managed everything themselves.”  (Mouchido EP 2016) – Decibel Magazine

“In a word, the music rips. And it also thunders, and punches so fast and hard that it’s like a jackhammer-sized nail gun ramming bolts into concrete at high speed while the operator howls and shrieks for all he’s worth, segmented by a start-stop breakdown that will give your skull a good rattling and lit up by swarming guitar flurries that are as fiery as the torches in the video (Burn).” (Mouchido EP 2016) – No Clean Singing

” the band live up to their name with each song on this 4 track EP going for straight for the throat; merciless aural violence and tight, technical proficiency melded with some serious might!” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Worship Metal

“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – PureGrainAudio

“Right from the beginning you feel the weight and the immensity of Mouichido and one listen just doesn’t do it justice. This is a re-release of previously recorded material with a new vocalist and even so, Without Mercy comes out swinging again and knocks it clear out of the park.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Cadaver Garden

“possibly the most savage song to ascend from the depths of the west in a good long while.” – Canadian Beats

0 Protokult’s Streaming New Album “Transcending The Ruins”, Premiere via Bravewords

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 30, 2020

For fans of Arkona, Korpiklaani, Windir, Nightwish, Turisas, Skyforger

Protokult’s Streaming New Album “Transcending The Ruins”

Premiere via Bravewords

New Album “Transcending The Ruins” Out October 1st, 2020

L-R: Dawid (Bass), Kaveh Afshar (Percussion), Ekaterina (Vocals, Woodwinds), Martin Drozd (Vocals, Guitar, Synthesizer), Jack Neila (Rhythm and Lead Guitar)

Protokult have been defining folk/pagan metal since 2009 when they released their debut album “Ancestral Anthems”, since then they have created three additional uncompromising and relentless albums with their fifth “Transcending The Ruins” coming out on October 1, 2020.

Over two years in the making, “Transcending The Ruins” is a rush, meant to be enjoyed either as a whole journey or at any entry point, the band ensures. Approaching this record with a bit more maturity and consistency, the result is heavier, faster, darker.

Inspired and fascinated by various metal genres alongside folk-culture, after a few years of experimenting, Protokult was meant to fuse the two together while paying homage to the past, Bacchanalian festivities, and honouring the underground.

For fans of Arkona, Korpiklaani, and Nightwish, the record pulsates from start to finish yet incorporates the massive dynamics, ambience, and dashes of folk-melodies that the band has become known for.

Before “Transcending The Ruins” officially releases, the band have teamed up Bravewords for the album’s exclusive full stream HERE.

The band comments on the full length’s release:

“‘Transcending The Ruins’ is an album about growing up and tipping our hats to the great metal influences of the generations. Some can say the industry has been shaken hard and is in a state of flux so as artists we try to outdo ourselves on every performance and transcend what the popular or common standards may be. Everyone is playing on the edge of their ability and no matter whether you listen from start to finish or dive in randomly, that energy and sincerity are everywhere. This is Protokult on speed all the while putting on a professional face, which makes it the most consistent and rewarding album to date.”

“Transcending The Ruins” will be out on October 1, 2020. Album pre-order on Bandcamp.

EPKAbout:
As interests in history, paganism and folklore took an increasingly strong hold on folk metallers Protokult, they were inspired to unleash their debut album, “Ancestral Anthems” in 2009. With the first two pressings selling out in months, they vowed to take things to the next level while continuing to deliver a unique mix of Canadian and international influences. In 2011, they released their next offering, the EP “Marzena”, then followed by sophomore album “No Beer In Heaven” that was widely praised for its hooky fun-loving anthems, especially the single “Get Me A Beer!”.

Protokult’s goal? To unite its members’ diverse cultures into one sound, balancing tradition and folklore with heavy, thrash, and black metal for headbangers everywhere.

Over the past few years, the ever-evolving Protokult has graced the stage with the likes of Arkona, Turisas, Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Tengger Cavalry, Cellar Darling (X-Eluveitie) and Razor.

With beauty and the beast-like contrast between Ekaterina’s haunting vocals and the band’s metal rampage, they are ready to unveil their third full-length “Transcending The Ruins”, which is slated for release on October 1st, 2020. The album captures the reformed quintet at an all-time high, showcasing an impressive palette of powerful riffs, glorious onslaughts, and essentially reminds us, why we love heavy metal and it’s darker atmospheric shades.

“they’ve got a good sense of humor, and they sound top-notch” – Metal Sucks

“boozy blast of heathen prog” – Team Rock

“Le metal a du talent.”  – Metal France

“a superb album. Protokult gives folk-metal a new nice dimension. Their progressive folk-metal approach is a very delicious one. Don’t let the ‘beer-titles’ fool you, the band goals are far beyond beer-humpaa. They’re far more serious, despite of the sometimes quite merry tunes. This is one of the best folk-metal albums I’ve heard this year” – Folk-Metal.nl

“Let’s mark the list down, shall we: Awesome Folk music spanning different areas of sound and direction, check! Creative and art work based around an old fashioned beer hall, check! And last, but certainly not least, BEER themed music!!!!.” – Metal Temple
