This past July in Toronto, ON at The Rockpile, Canadian thrashers Korrosive were opening support for legendary speed metal maniacs Exciter. During this epic show night, the band took the opportunity to capture the whole live experience for their fans. There were no corrections, overdubs, or tweaks made to the video. It is Korrosive being pure, raw, and unfiltered.

The band adds about the video:

“We like to thank our guitarist Jack Neila for directing and editing the video. He used five cameras to capture the whole show in glorious 4K, complete with stage diving, windmilling, and a massive wall-of-death. We like to also thank Jake Disman for recording the audio directly from the soundboard, and our producer Ben Erikson (he did both our albums) for the mix. The sound is crisp, clear, and heavy. Enjoy the headbanging!”

Korrosive recently released their latest album “Toxic Apokalypse” via CDN Records (digital and CD) along with vinyl and cassette coming in 2023 (release date to be determined).

The new album is an aural brute-de-force of eight tracks ready to blitz the moshpit. Even though each song on the album is quite different in a way from the others, it’s all uniquely Korrosive. Songs deal with topics of science fiction, armageddon, and “what if” scenarios. For each track on the record, the band pushes them to new levels of velocity and extremity, from ‘Fatal Strike’, which has a ton of blast beats and solos, yet is still unmistakably thrash, to ‘Radioaktive Scourge’, filled with pure aggression, unlike anything they’ve released before. From its speed, the lyrics, and the sheer intensity, this song may be the shortest track on the record, but makes the largest impact and it’s over before you know it. And also strongly recommended is ‘Hail the Hellfire’, perhaps the band’s anthem to the entire “Toxic Apokalypse” album. Written as a reflection of the period when the full-length was being composed, this track discusses the brutality of war and the end result of each and every individual involved in its cause, regardless of side.

Recommended for fans of Sodom, Kreator, Death, and Sepultura, Korrosive is high-octane thrash that melds elements from extreme metal such as death and grind.

“Toxic Apokalypse” was produced by Ben Erikson with mastering done by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator, Cro-Mags, Municipal Waste, Soulfly). The album artwork was created by the infamous Ed Repka (Dark Angel, Death, Hirax, Megadeth, Suicidal Angels, Venom).

“This is the thrash album of the year man!” – Zach Moonshine – Metal Devastation Radio

“There’s an old-school foundation to this, but it’s sharper and faster than most of the old stuff and there’s a more modern sound thrown in, so Korrosive don’t come off as much like a “thrash revival” band as many others might, rather taking the style in a faster, heavier and crispier direction. I hear a lot of albums in a year and a lot of thrash, but this album stands out. If thrash with harsh vocals done a little different is your thing, you owe it to yourself to check Toxic Apocalypse out.” 4.75/5 – The Metal Crypt

“Korrosive really likes to rip through songs with all the attitude and fury of a band straddling the line between Thrash and Speed Metal that likes to jump back and forth just for fun. And this is pure thrash; there are no ballads or anything like that, just killer, heavy riffs and smashing rhythms. This is an apocalyptic shred-fest meant to leave your neck sore, and your voice wrecked. If you get to the end of this record and are not in at least a little pain, take another trip with the higher volume to ensure you get it right this time.” – Metal-Zenith

“If you like your thrash metal with a little San Francisco and a nice helping of Germany, then this is the album for you. “Toxic Apokalypse” is already out on CDN Records from Canada and it’s a must for any metal fan who likes it hard, nasty, and ripping off heads! This is easily in my top five metal albums of 2022.” – Pete Altieri, Murder Metal Mayhem

“It’s an album which is relentless, something that any self-respecting thrash fan would want. And yet, there is some balance to the album. It’s paced well, with the tempo picking up again at the tail end of the album” – UK Thrashers

NEWS RELEASE

Israel’s Twisted Mind Keeps It Classic With “Long Live Rock & Roll” Off Upcoming “From Slave To Prophet”

L- R – Lahav Zitiyat – Guitar, Oud, David Darash – Drums, Yanir Chmiel – Lead Vocals, Or Levy – Bass, Dan Saliman – Guitar, Bouzuki

Twisted Mind is an eclectic metal band influenced by a kaleidoscope of different musicians and bands that have inspired guitarist Dan Saliman, an Israeli musician of Yemenite and Moroccan-based heritage who grew up in a home where oriental music was frequently played. The band’s debut EP “From Slave To Prophet” is almost ready for ears, and ahead of its December release there is a second music video for fans to enjoy “Long Live Rock & Roll”, which the band details:

“This song was actually born twice, two band members wrote the lyrics, and both of them took different approaches to the song’s title. We love the naivety of the song’s concept – our big yet simple hope, to love our daily creations, making music our main activity, and live a rock & roll lifestyle. The music that surrounds this song has tons of awesome guitar riffs and powerful melodies, and something like three and a half tons of Middle Eastern instruments such as Oud and Bouzouki spicing it up and creating one tasty dish.”

Watch “Long Live Rock & Roll” at https://youtu.be/V9kHoJ4Qzug

As for the EP “From Slave To Prophet”, the band explains that it is a simple yet interesting experience; on one hand you can hear the strong and powerful metal shredding guitars, and on the other – simple and catchy melodies and hooks from more “mainstream” musical genres. To round it all off with their signature flair, they spice it up with beautiful enchanting oriental parts taken from their ancestor’s Middle Eastern and African heritage.

Twisted Mind strives to be a band that will break the glass ceiling of musical genres. Their eclectic blend of modern Israeli oriental power metal is recommended for fans of Muse, Dhafer Youssef, and Linkin Park. The official video for “Long Live Rock & Roll” is out now and the EP comes out on December 9, 2022.

About: The AOR rock/metal group Twisted Mind was founded in 2017 by Dan Saliman, an Israeli musician of a Yemenite & Moroccan-based heritage. Dan grew up in a home where oriental music was a Major part of his musical background

After a long process of creating a musical concept, Dan was joined by the other members, achieving this final line-up. The four joining members helped mold the sound, bringing their own styles, influences, and cultural heritage to Twisted Mind, thus creating a powerful combination of music that fuses the power and aggression of heavy metal, throughout the liberating energy of modern rock & roll.

And all this while using ethnical Middle Eastern music – emerging from their homeland and from the band members’ heritage and their own family ‘DNA’.Starting in San’aa –Yemen, through Istanbul – Turkey, passing through the deserts of Libya and traveling the long roads to a garage in Los Angeles.

0 Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Announces First Full-Length “Spectrums” Out February 2023

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 2, 2022

Saudi One Man Prog DUSK Announces First Full-Length “Spectrums” Out February 2023

Saudi Arabia’s DUSK is a one-man musical progressive metal journey from the mind of Meshari Sangora. Once a college DJ in UAE, that time in his life lead to his rediscovery of all forms of metal and was just the beginning of creating his own music as a self-taught musician and producer. Starting out in 2020, over the last two years, DUSK has released two EPs “To Where I Belong” (2021) and “Ascension” (2020) along with multiple stand-alone singles.

Now this coming February 2023, DUSK will release the first full-length entitled “Spectrums”. Writing the album at the beginning of November 2021, it will feature 12 tracks with many guests such as Khalid C from local Saudi melodic death band Entropia, and Abdulrahman Elghazali (who was a featured guest on EP ‘To Where I Belong”) along with collaborations with international artists such as Aron Harris of the New York death metal based band Solemn Vision and the great Jaani Peuhu, previously known from the highly recognized band Swallow The Sun and his current band Ianai. Vocals are also sung in many other languages English, German, Finnish, and Arabic.

The album is also meant to be listened to as a Side A and Side B. The first half of the album (Side A) is aggressively sounding, and more guitar-focused and has a build-up of more hostility to each track while the listener moves forward. The second half (Side B) aims for a new sound from DUSK infusing more of the electric/EDM-ish sound where it’s more focused and digitized sounding and widely more appealing to the non-metal listener, all while keeping the same aggression level building up with each track.

With the name “Spectrums” came the main idea for the record, which is giving the music and letting everyone DUSK wanted to work with, put their creative input and point of view, discussing real topics and relatable stories so that the average listener feels the connection and experiences a full emotional journey throughout the whole album. As the songwriting developed for the full-length, DUSK also decided to infuse different languages and different styles, genres, and sounds.

“I wanted to bring more to the table and make this album a possible gateway to new audiences and perhaps fans from both sides, the metal heads & the non-metal listeners. I think all people who enjoy music will be interested in it, with all that has been added and all the different genres mixed in. What I’m trying to do with this record is to make everyone experience their own feelings and their own journey, the topics for this project are big and very stretched, some of the topics deal with real issues like betrayal and disposition, Love, Hate, and Hope.” adds DUSK

Creating the album was a task for DUSK, but as a one-man band, it was an easier workflow that he found really incredible.

“I have the full creative process to express my feelings and emotion without any interventions that may happen between band members, And I also love to give the creative space for the vocal artists to add their touch and magic when it comes to collaborating with them, I normally tell them the theme of the demo I share with them, and sometimes what subjects to talk about other than that, they always have the full creative space when it comes to vocals/writings lyrics.”

Recommended for fans of Currents, Born of Osiris, Novelists, and Deftones, and anything under the progressive djenty core metal realm, the debut album “Spectrums” is due out on February 17th, 2023, and will be released on all digital platforms including vinyl.

The album was fully written & recorded at Dusk’s studio with the mixing and mastering done by Tom Haberland of Crushing Waves Studio. Album artwork created by Giannis Nakos from Remedy Studios. M

Two singles will also be unveiled in lead up to the full-length’s release, “Lethal Perspectives” ft. Aron Harris and “Karma Will Find You” ft. Moe Steiger.

0 Quebec City’s THE FLAYING Unleash Brutal Music Video “Angry, Undead”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 1, 2022

Quebec City’s THE FLAYING Unleash Brutal Music Video “Angry, Undead”

L to R: Seb – Bass, Wil – Vocals, Mike – Drums, Did – Guitar

It’s been over three years since Quebec City’s THE FLAYING presented their brutal aural assault of death metal to a worldwide stage with the release of their award-winning sophomore album “Angry, Undead” (“Metal Album of The Year” GAMIQ awards (Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec)released during March 2019 via PRC Music. Working with Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy at The Grid in Montreal, QC, the album is pure mayhem for their fastest and most brutal debauchery to date. The concept of “Angry, Undead” is an intricate one with each of the eight songs falling under a distinct axis: Chaos (social manifestations); Madness (individual manifestations); and Void (existential manifestations). It is brutal, instinctive, unique, and wicked, and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Archspire, Suffocation, and Deicide.

To close the chapter on this full length, the band is unveiling their music video created by Emile Roy and Fred Roy of Methlab Massacre Media for the record’s title track via Slam Worldwide – https://youtu.be/hs0eJACcsoc

The band adds about the video:

“This video has been created by Methlab Massacre Media with a budget of approximately 13$ + gas! We gave them our absolute blessing to create a video for this great anthem song that is Angry Undead. The guys had a wicked storyboard in mind so we were happy to team up with these great artists. Behold their offering.”

THE FLAYING will be hitting the studio in 2023 to begin work on their follow-up album along with announcements on upcoming show dates in the coming new year.

The album “Angry, Undead” is available at the following links: Bandcamp, Spotify

“The Flaying, hailing from Quebec City, churn out some of the sickest death metal jams you can find. Their album, Angry, Undead was released on PRC Music this past March and it’s a total ripper.” – Metal Injection

“True to the band’s name, the music of The Flaying will slash the skin from your face in paroxysms of blood-spraying savagery. But it does more than that. It will also suck the air from your lungs, boil the brain, and hammer your bones into fragments fine enough to blow away in the wind.” – No Clean Singing

“Angry, Undead is quite a number, I am really digging these addictive and mesmerizing death metal tunes and I am quite sure most of you technical and progressive death metal fans out there will feel the same about this album once you have checked this out. The Flaying is definitely a band to keep an eye and an ear on!” – Lords of Metal

“Solid and thoroughly enjoyable, The Flaying make a name for themselves on their second album.Angry, Undead is never at a loss for momentum and rage, and still manages to tickle your ears with its massive grooves and musical prowess.” Dead Rhetoric

“It is a savage, brutish and barbaric death metal album emphasized by the nasty groove of Elegy of Emptiness and the booming Angry, Unleashed. A fine addition to any death metal fan’s collection.” – Games, Brrrains & A Head-Banging Life

“They’re straight up death metal with no rules or gimmicks. They’re super groovy, great vocals you can understand, and dirty riffs with lots of tremolo mixed in for good measure.” – Technical Music Review

– Produced by Chad Anderson (Helion Prime) –

“Celestial Wisdom” Out December 2nd

From a galaxy far, far away comes Vis Mystica, a Star Wars-based power metal act, that aims to provide escapism from everyday life and transportation into a fantastical world of magical powers and epic stories. Their debut EP “Celestial Wisdom” is eight bombastic tracks retelling the Dawn of the Jedi comics from Dark Horse Comics. The band quotes:

“This is an EP that we want people to listen to when they want to escape the craziness and mundane nature of everyday life. Sitting in an office for a 9 to 5 job doesn’t offer one much time for adventure or fantastical experiences and Vis Mystica wants to convey that through its music. You can be sitting at home, driving to work, anything and have the opportunity to turn on this album and be transported to a wonderful land outside of the boundaries of our reality.”

“Celestial Wisdom” is a fantastical journey into a world full of mystic powers and sprawling landscapes, with a classic “Good vs. Evil” battle and many memorable locations and detailed stories. All the themes come from the mind of Star Wars fan Connor McCray who suggests that fans can expect a massive amount of new music over the coming years as he has ideas for several albums to come already and these will only grow stronger with time.

Despite writing all of the music himself, McCray (guitar, bass, orchestration) relies on the talents and input of drummer Dillon Trollope and vocalist Devin Dewyer along with guests Ty Christian (Lords of the Trident), David Michael Moote (Operus), and Jonas Heidgert (Dragonland) to make the songs as strong as they can possibly be.

While they take great influence from other bands, Vis Mystica is quite confident that they possess a style that is somewhat unique in the Power Metal landscape. They are recommended for fans of Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, and Bal-Sagoth.

“Vis Mystica is a very interesting power metal band from Pennsylvania. Listening to this group is like finding an oasis in the middle of the driest desert. Although one of its main characteristics is that its music is based on the Star Wars universe, it is fair to say that its music shines by itself and it is not for less, since its influences are not found in its local scene, not even in its country.” – Metal-Rules.com

“Offering escapism from everyday life, Vis Mystica transports listeners into a fantastical world of magical powers and epic stories with their Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic inspired Power Metal. Along with taking great influence from other bands, they possess a style that is unique and holds its own in the power metal landscape.” – Bloodynews.ro

Thanks to the experience and wisdom of Maor Appelbaum, we’re very stoked that we brought the album to what it needed to be after much trial and error. We hope everyone will enjoy this journey through this Cyberpunk-inspired world!”

The eight-track album is just over forty minutes in length, it was produced and mastered by Maor Appelbaum; mixed by Ryan Shepard, and the album artwork was done by Daniel Reyes. The nine players on the album bring forth their skills on guitar, cello, bass, drums, violin, keyboards, viola, and contrabass in a sometimes collaborative effort, which is primarily composed and scored by Matthew Logan and Matthew Hannah. The writing and the recording have been in the works for some time, the drums were recorded in a mansion back in 2018 where the original rehearsal space was, and the same location was used to film the music videos for the singles “Reminiscence”, “Change” and “Inner Skepticism”.

“The Network” has a modern metal influence and different composers from their first album. It is best described as orchestral neo-classical instrumental progressive metal. Fans who enjoy Powerglove, Scale The Summit, and Animals As Leaders should be the first to dive into a futuristic world where one’s existence is questioned.

Due out on December 2nd, 2022, “The Network” can be heard in full via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

Decibel is now streaming “Death To All Tyrants”, which is the debut album from Canada’s Nihilist Death Cult (members ex-Pestilence, Abyss, Tribe of Pazuzu, Soulstorm). In the veins of punk, hardcore, and a little bit of grind, the album is 14 minutes of relentless music and direct lyrics that will grab you by the throat and refuse to let go. It also features guest solo appearances by Randy Harris (Tribe of Pazuzu) on “Obey & Consume” and Ian Mumble (Overthrow) on “You Get What You Deserve”. The lyrics attack the news media and societal conformity, the endless repetitive process of buying and consuming, and talk about slimy people who prey on others.

Bassist/vocalist Nick Sagias started the band in 2018, he cites that he strives to keep an element of annunciation in the vocals so that it’s easier to make out what he’s singing while he still retains a raw, death-punk style of vocals. The music was intentionally written to be savage and relentless and NDC feels they get their point across, conveying through a high-intensity, visceral experience, that is not intended for casual listeners. Sagias comments on the album:

“When we were ready to record, I started looking for someone to produce it and I was looking somewhat local, but not limited to, then I found Scott Middleton early on in the search and when I contacted him he just left the studio he was working at in Hamilton and building his own studio at his new place, but it wasn’t ready yet, so that pushed back our recording a few months, but in the end, it was all worth it. Scott was excellent to work with and helped us a lot by hearing things we didn’t hear, that’s what a good producer does and it was a great experience working with him.”

“Death To All Tyrants” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Scott Middleton (ex-Cancer Bats) and the album artwork was done by Gragoth. It is recommended for fans of early Bad Brains, Nails, and CroMags.

The album will be available on all platforms on December 2, 2022.

0 Hardcore Thrash Crossover SPLIT IMAGE Shares Trailer For Upcoming Band Doc On Psycho Image Tour w/ Psycho Mantis

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 30, 2022

Hardcore Thrash Crossover SPLIT IMAGE Shares Trailer For Upcoming Band Doc On Psycho Image Tour w/ Psycho Mantis

This past August and September, California’s Split Image hit the road across six states with friends Psycho Mantis to support their debut album “Torrent of Illusion”. While on the 12-date tour, the bands captured their West Coast experience in a documentary that they will be screening for their hometown fans on December 9th in Murrieta, CA at Solaris Beer & Blendings followed by its full release on YouTube. The documentary was directed by Dylan Baumgartner (Reelverse Productions) and produced by Chris Sia (Low Budget Productions, Split Image) and Dylan Baumgartner

In lead up to the tour documentary’s release, the band is sharing a trailer, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/yFf4ujchHUY

Split Image adds:

“During our tour this summer, we invited Reelverse Productions to join Split Image and Psycho Mantis on the road for the Psycho Image Tour. We love touring and bringing our music to fans and seeing them light up the pit. We traveled across the West Coast from California to the Pacific North West and back through stops in Nevada and Arizona. All the places were just so welcoming. We also like to bands Contact (Centralia, WA) and Corpus (Murrieta, CA),”

Dylan Baumgartner of Reelverse Productions also adds:

“Being a part of the Psycho Image Tour was such an amazing experience. I’ve played in bands all my life, but never toured before so when I heard from Chris Sia that his band, Split Image, would be going on tour with Psycho Mantis, I had to jump on the opportunity. I think what small DIY touring bands do is incredibly admirable, they travel for miles, spend hours stuck in a van, unload equipment, set up, play for roughly twenty minutes, hope they made some merch sales, then pack it all back up just to do it all over again the next day. Being able to document the tour, edit together the footage and contribute something special to the local Inland Empire metal/hardcore scene is really exciting for me. I can’t wait for people to see it and I hope it either inspires local bands to hit the road or it just inspires someone to join a band.”

SPLIT IMAGE released their debut album “Torrent of Illusion” this past June. It’s a gritty and powerful crossover experience that packs a punch. Belted out with passion, Split Image’s lyrics stem from the various experiences they’ve endured like the loss of a loved one, grief, and perspectives they’ve had or envisioned as well as spirituality. They combine this with a unique sound that boasts familiarity through thrashy riffs, progressive, technical elements, and a solid nod to old-school hardcore.

“We are all about unity through music and with Torrent of Illusion, we strongly believe that our listeners will truly appreciate the messages of becoming hyper-aware of yourself as an individual as well as being aware of others around us. Take care of yourself and others around you because we are all we have.” adds the band.

With a dash of many genres, Split Image will be of interest to those who like thrash, punk, crust, and hardcore. Fans of Power Trip, Enforced, and Dead Heat should take note.

“Torrent of Illusion” is available on Splitimage.bandcamp.com, Spotify.

0 Toronto’s A FLOCK NAMED MURDER Release Ethereal Black Metal Single “Garden Of Embers”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 30, 2022

A Flock Named Murder Release Ethereal Black Metal Single “Garden Of Embers”

Canada’s A Flock Named Murder is a driving pummeling force that weaves themes of existentialism, inner struggles, and personal conviction together with ethereal and crushing black metal. They have a new single ready for the world, the complex and powerful “Garden of Embers”. This single is a small offering for listeners to ferment on as they embark on producing their next full-length album. It’s one of the many journeys that will be embarked on throughout the album showcasing emotional peaks and valleys and its fair share of dynamic composition – instrumentally, vocally, and structurally. The band explains the single:

““Garden Of Embers” is as musically elaborate as it is emotionally dramatic. It weaves and balances complex counterpoint melodies and shifting instrumental dynamics with moments of heaviness, grit, and ferocity. It is somber and then uplifting, before concluding as a story of tragedy. It’s both ethereal and crushing; exuberant in its delivery while powerful in its presentation. It’s a song that will pull you in, and won’t let you go until it decides it’s done – and when that happens, you won’t forget what it did to you.”

Lyrically, “Garden of Embers” is a post-apocalyptic tragedy exploring themes of personal desolation. It embodies a stark reflection of physical death in things we hold dear, giving way to death of the self, but as more of a dissolution than a rebirth.

The next full-length album will begin its production in the very near future, and there are plenty more ideas at varying levels of completion beyond that. Diverse, sprawling, and melodic, A Flock Named Murder is recommended for fans of Agalloch, Emperor, and Cult Of Luna.

“Garden of Embers” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“Every now and then, we’re given a record that manages to take metal and spin it right on its head as the band in question really changes things up. It’s because of acts like YOB, Tchornobog, and the aforementioned Inter Arma that we’re able to still get unique morsels of art like this one in these times, and I’m more than happy to put A Flock Named Murder in that small yet very capable company of top-tier bands. “An Appointed Time” is a record that’s still getting my blood pressure to rise just by listening to it, and I can see it growing on me even more to become one of my favorites of the year.” – HEAD-BANGER REVIEWS

“The music builds an increasingly ominous and unnerving mood and then boils over in an effusion of battering drumwork, febrile bass notes, and writhing riffery, only then to segue into vibrant strummed guitar, a gloriously spiraling solo, and a dose of big, head-moving rhythms and anthemic chords. Tumbling drums and desolate guitar reverberations draw the trip to a downcast close.” – NO CLEAN SINGING

“Fantastic blackened sludge/doom. Heavy, mesmerising, progressive. Sad. Painful. Stabbing. Yes, the record has similar artwork made by Adam Burke, to Lurk’s glorious epos from this year (artwork by the same artist) and explore similar genre. AFNM’s album is definitely among the finest releases this year. Seems to be that the blackened sludge with post- elements is getting speed.” – BLESSED ALTAR ZINE

“Nor is this a gimmick band; there’s plenty else to draw you to An Appointed Time. There are down-right groove metal influenced sections on that first track, which make us think of Gojira of all things. Elsewhere, the blackened moniker takes over, creating blistering, acidic tracks that double down on the already present grandiosity with tremolo-fast riffs and blast-beats. But what will echo through your ears as the album ends is that very specific, very hard to create feeling of classic metal; everything on display here just blends into this feeling that you only get when listening to really well made and passionate metal. Can that be a genre? It is now and A Flock Named Murder pull it off to a fascinating degree.” – HEAVY BLOG IS HEAVY

0 Prepare To Be Swept Into Melancholic Gloom In Shores Of Null’s Upcoming “The Loss of Beauty”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 29, 2022

Prepare To Be Swept Into Melancholic Gloom In Shores Of Null’s Upcoming “The Loss of Beauty”

“The Loss of Beauty” is Shores Of Null’s fourth album and follows the acclaimed “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)”, unanimously considered by fans and critics as one of the Doom Metal gems of recent years. Both albums were recorded between 2019 and early 2020, and although “The Loss of Beauty” was initially conceived as the band’s third album, ‘Beyond The Shores’ took its place as it better reflected the doom and gloom sentiment of the ‘annus horribilis’ 2020.

Across 11 tracks (plus two bonus tracks), Shores Of Null once again submerges listeners with tempestuous and turbulent riffs. The band continues to hone its sound and take its melancholic dark metal to new heights by mastering an assorted palette of genres with inbred poignancy. The lyrics celebrate beauty in imperfection and transience and are meant to be an invitation to seek beauty in little things, especially those unexpected and ephemeral.

The quintet of Shores of Null will be releasing singles over the following months to entice listeners further and have plans for a European tour to support the release. “The Loss of Beauty” has been shielded from the outside world until today, and it will finally see the light of day in March 2023 via Spikerot Records.

“The Loss of Beauty” is dark and heavy, tinged with feelings of despair and melancholy. It is recommended for fans of Amorphs, Enslaved, and Paradise Lost.

About: Shores of Null stand out from their contemporaries with their ability to blend seemingly disparate elements into their sound, overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time: blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place. Their music can be both melancholic yet majestic, made of chorale-like guitar textures across the instrument’s entire range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined mixture of clean and growled vocals, along with extensive use of pleasing vocal harmonies which have become the band’s trademark through the years.

The Rome-based metal band has been an unwavering presence within the metal underground since their musical outset in 2013, churning out three impressive records: the melodic and somber “Quiescence” (Candlelight, 2014), the darker and more complex “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” (Candlelight/Spinefarm, 2017), and finally their most ambitious work to date “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying)” (Spikerot Records, 2020), a 38-minute long opus which continues to prove the band’s willingness to go off the beaten path while creating their ultimate doom manifesto.

The band’s fourth album “The Loss Of Beauty”, recorded during the same sessions of “Beyond The Shores”, is expected to be released in March of 2023.

Shores of Null continues to impress and expand upon their doomy sound. An epic-length track worthy to sit amongst the best of these ventures (Edge of Sanity, Insomnium). Emotionally fulfilling and musically satisfying all at once.” – Dead Rhetoric (Best-of 2020)

“this album definitely is one of the best Doom Metal pieces I had the pleasure to look at in 2020. Once you plunge into its astonishing flow, there will be no escape from that majestic march through soaring soundscapes to those tear-drenched horizons.” – Rock Music Raider (Best of 2020)

“it’s certainly ambitious (video for “Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)”), but if you have the time, it’s worth the watch. Steeped in quality and excellent videography, it definitely deserves the attention for the amount of effort used.” – Metal Injection

“Shores of Null rolled the dice with Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying) and delivered in a big fucking way… Shores of Null have crafted something special; a heart-wrenchingly emotive and beautiful journey of sorrow, anguish, pain, and acceptance. Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying) is a splendidly sombre, brilliantly written opus of commanding death-doom that demands attention.” – Teeth of The Divine

“this album is phenomenal, both in terms of concept and its monumental delivery… with this magnum opus [Shores Of Null] have proved their position front and centre as depressed doom-titans…” – The Sleeping Shaman

“Beyond The Shores (On Death and Dying)” is a near perfect, monumental achievement of doom. I can’t imagine any fan of the style not finding something here to enjoy.” – Metal Temple

“An enchanting, gloomy opus.” – Moshville Times

“A single track of incredibly well-realised melodic doom metal, layered with all sorts of treats and nuanced delivery.” – Wonderbox Metal

“A piece of delicious despair, delivered on a platter of storm-ridden and excellently executed Doom Metal. A record that left anybody else in the genre in 2020 quaking in their wake.” – Rock Music Raider

“their most intricate and brooding work to date… grandiose emotional impact.” – Metal Storm
