INIRE‘s hard knocking 13 track album ‘Cauchemar’ produced by Chris Bonavia continues the band’s reputation of delivering energetic anthems that have garnered them a loyal following in the Ontario and Quebec scenes. Since debuting their blend of northern groove and stoner metal with a tinge of hardcore energy on their 2007 self-titled EP to 2009’s full length ‘Born The Wicked, The Fallen, The Damned’, the band has gone on to perform on one of Canada’s biggest outdoor festivals Amnesia Rockfest, headline Fete Nationale in Gatineau, QC plus tour across Canada along with sharing the stage with known bands such as Cancer Bats and Kill Devil Hill.

One band, one champion, thousands of metalheads!

Wacken Metal Battle USA is coming to America!

For over a decade at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival Wacken Open Air, independent metal bands from around the globe have been performing in front of thousands and competing against one another for one to be crowned champion of the world along with winning multiple prizes (prizes info). For the first time ever, Wacken Metal Battle USA is coming to America for its inaugural year and will be hosting qualifying rounds in New York City, Boston and Philadelphia (more may be announced). The national champion of those battles will perform at the 2017 festival taking place from August 3rd – 5th.

Submissions for Metal Battle USA will begin October 21st and end on December 2nd at 11:59pm EST.

How it works:

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals (dates to be determined), selecting the top band to move forward to the national finals in New York City (date to be determined) with one being selected to perform at the 28th edition of Wacken Open Air. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

RULES:

All bands, that wish to participate in the Metal Battle, must read the following rules and guidelines. Bands who send in an application automatically agree to the rules and terms.

Your band doesn’t have a deal and isn’t about to sign to a label in the near future.
Your band can easily play a 25 minute set consisting of your own songs. (No Covers). Full set performance time is 25 mins.
PA, lighting, and sound engineer will be provided for all bands.
Backline arrangements TBA.
The bands must bring their own instruments such as guitars, bass, drum breakables, keyboards and effect pedals and may also bring and use their own guitar amps.
To keep the changeover times as short as possible, bands with left handed drummers will play as first or last band. All bands have to follow the directions given by the promoters or stage manager.
Semi playback is not allowed. All bands must play live. Background orchestrations are ok as long as all vocals, guitars and bass are live. Intros / interludes are also ok.
Jury of respected music industry folk will decide the winners each night.

If a band overruns its allotted performance-time, then the band-members should be aware of the fact that in this case their sound will be faded out. The running order for the concert will be released a few days before the event takes place.

Please note:
Travel for the winning band to go to Germany is at their own expense and accommodations at the festival will be in the form of camping in the VIP area.
Full professional back line will be provided for performance.

Formed in 2011 as a jam project by three fellow music students, the group has gone on to release several singles and EPs independently, while having the opportunity to share the stage with great metal acts like Protest the Hero, Intervals, Black Crown Initiate, and Mandroid Echostar. The group pride themselves on their infusion of multiple musical styles into hard-hitting riffs, epic choruses, and technically intense passages. Soaring melodies, guttural growls, and destructive breakdowns flow into soft, slow, and pensive segments of jazz and rock. Their compositional method, where songs are conceived, written, transcribed, and edited before they are ever learned or rehearsed, adds a level of refinement and fluidity not always found in heavier music. The band do almost all of their engineering work themselves, but have also worked with several talented producers. Their first EP T (June 2014), comprised of four previously released singles and one new song, featured the mixing and mastering handiwork of Gino Bambino (Novallo) and Justin Hill (SikTh). Their single Resurface (December 2014) was handled by George Lever (Burials).

The November 1st deadline is getting near to submit your band to one of Canada’s best metal festivals held in the Okanagan valley in Armstrong, BC. For the last 8 years, Armstrong Metal Fest has been showcasing a high caliber of Western Canadian metal along with international touring acts. 69.4% of the total band line up for AMF 2016 was made of bands that had placed a band submission.

58.3% of AMF 2016’s line up was bands that had never played the festival before.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Melodic death metallers CHARIOTS OF THE GODS are proud to announce they will be hitting the road for dates in November and December in support of their recently unleashed album ‘Ages Unsung’. The tour will venture across the province of Quebec along with hometown shows in Ottawa, ON, which includes supporting Sonata Arctica on November 14th (dates and info below). Joining them on the tour will be Montreal’s Pronostic.

‘Ages Unsung’ features 10 shredding tracks recorded at The Grid with legendary Montreal producer Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) plus features a special guest solo from The Agonist’s Pascal Jobin on the song ‘Into Oblivion’. For this album, CHARIOTS OF THE GODS turned to fans on kickstarter with a pre-order campaign (thank you video) and surpassed their goal of $3,000. The album marks the return of Canada’s first metal band to tour Cuba after a small hiatus and line up change to follow up their 2013 debut album ‘Tides of War’ that was produced by music legend Glen Robinson (Queensryche, Gwar, Annihilator).

“We are very proud to bring you all this new record. It took us longer than expected to get there, but we’re sure that after just one listen you’ll think it was worth the wait. There were a lot of changes since our last release in early 2013. 3 out of 5 were new members and it definitely had an impact on our music especially with the change of the vocalist. We sometimes went into some unknown territories with this new record, but our producer Chris Donaldson along with the help of Pascal Jobin really guided us through this experimental chapter. It has been a challenging effort, but we’ve worked hard to climb the mountain that stood before us. Now we know what we’re capable of. We can see many more peaks in the distance and as one we will strive forward.”

It’s been an award winning year for Edmonton, AB’s STRIKER, having won the Edmonton Music Prize along with the Edmonton Music Award for Metal Recording of The Year for their track ‘Too Late’ from their latest album ‘Stand In The Fire’. Now adding to their list of awards, the power new wave metallers have been celebrated with this year’s 2016 Western Canadian Music Award for Metal /Hard Music Artist of The Year. About Striker:

STRIKER formed in Edmonton, Canada in 2007 and they were signed to German label Iron Kodex off the strength of their first demo. They made two albums with the label and recorded 2nd album Armed To The Teeth with acclaimed producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Skid Row, Metallica). They played shows with Metallica in Canada and hit the road for what eventually became a full world tour with shows across Europe and Japan. They used their time in Europe to work with Frederik Nordstrom and were snapped up by Napalm Records in 2012 for the release of the acclaimed album City Of Gold.

The project was on hiatus for several years due to demand and relocation to Los Angeles by founder/guitarist/vocalist Dominic Cifarelli (former guitar player for Pulse Ultra (Atlantic Records)). While in Los Angeles, Ciferalli was part of multiple projects that included touring with Scars on Broadway, which featured Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan of System of a Down, a collaboration with Lukas Rossi on the single “Headspin” that is featured on the album “Rockstar Supernova” starring Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted, recording guitars and bass for Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2012 release “Change My Mind” plus performing on French platinum artist Zaho’s debut and sophomore albums, and recording two guitar solos on a Rush tribute album released by Magna Carta, which featured Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Mike Mangini (Dream Theater) and Stu Hamm (Steve Vai). Other highlights in Cifarelli’s career include a featured guest guitar appearance with Cypress Hill and Travis Barker at the annual Smoke Out Festival in San Bernardino, CA that also featured Incubus, Living Colour and Manu Chao plus guest performances in 2013 with Chevelle in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel and Taproot at the Whiskey in Los Angeles.
