Reggae Metal Fusion NINJASPY Announce New Album ‘Spüken’ + New Video ‘Speak’

‘Spüken’ produced by Garth Richardson (Kittie, RATM, Mudvayne, The Melvins)

NINJASPY, a trio of blood brothers have been experimenting with metal fusion since 2006. Hard, heavy, hook-laden music that runs the gamut of reggae, surf, metal and more make up the band’s rule-breaking formula for notoriety. All this combined with an explosive and powerfully unhinged live show got NINJASPY off the ground in a hurry. Releasing their 2007 debut ‘Pi Nature’ and their 2013 EP ‘No Kata’ with a graphic novel, the band of brothers have teamed up once again with prolific producers GGGarth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mudvayne, Gallows) and Ben Kaplan (Biffy Clyro, Atreyu, Haste the Day) for their next full length ‘Spüken’ due out April 14, 2017.

Years in the making since spring 2014 when NINJASPY launched the “Jump Ya Bones” and crowd funding Campaign, the band was able to raise $15,000 to fund the new full length. They began recording in November 2014, taking their culmination of nearly a decade of songs and narrowing them down to an epic 10 track experience to demonstrate all their downbeats to breakdowns to their weaving of reggae, hardcore, metal and much more.

“These 10 songs span a decade, so there are a lot of different feels happening from song to song that represent what we got into over the years. It’s like we spent 10 years swallowing everything life threw at us, then we threw it all back up again, and are now able to listen to the blended, half-digested version of it.” says vocalist / guitarist Joel Parent.

‘Spüken’ was recorded and mixed sporadically over the next two years at in Vancouver BC and in the spring of 2016 between recording sessions, the band teased fans with a filmed and recorded live acoustic performance of their track ‘Azaria’, a song that is included with full metal instrumentation on the new genre-bending album. It showed the true diversity of the band and their ability to take manic and intense music and make it tender and raw.

The band’s first full single / music video ‘Speak’ can be watched at the following link below and can be downloaded from their online store, iTunes, CD Baby and Bandcamp.

Edmonton’s SOMETHING MECHANICAL Premiere Celeb Stalker Track ‘In Shadows’ On AllAboutTheRock

New EP ‘Less Than Human’ Out March 17

Edmonton, AB’s SOMETHING MECHANICAL will be releasing their new EP ‘Less Than Human’ on March 17, 2017 to follow their 2015 self-titled debut album. Inspired by Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Days Of The New, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden, vocalist/ guitarist Colin Pearce describes their music as “original, honest, blue collar, catchy and straightforward!”

The band pulls no punches whatsoever when it comes to the theme of their music. “Rebel! Stand up for yourself. Fight against the seemingly inevitable normality of the world. Be your own person on your own path whenever you can.”

Pearce feels that ‘Less Than Human’ will be well-received with its five hard hitting tracks.

“We really trimmed away the fat, so to speak, we focused on each song more fully and our fans will be able to hear that.  We’re happy with it and we think they will be too.”

Leading up to the EP’s release, the rockers have teamed up with AllAboutTheRock.co.uk to premiere their second single ‘In Shadows’, a track about the celebrity stalking.

“This one is a bit theatrical. I scared myself watching documentaries about killer celebrity stalkers and how they think/ their delusions.” says vocalist/rhythm Guitarist Colin Pearce.

‘In Shadows’ can be heard at the following link: http://allabouttherock.co.uk/something-mechanical-in-shadows-aatr-premier/\

“These guys are a fantastic unit as they put their hearts & souls into what they do! … A very raucous & highly spirited band!” – Way Out Radio

“their latest single ‘Gunn’ is a no-nonsense, hard-hitting rock anthem, firing shots at disloyal friends from days gone by. The gritty vocals, driving rhythm and furious guitar work is sure to appeal to fans of the classic grunge sound, as well as of modern hard rock heroes such as Shinedown and Alter Bridge…their upcoming EP is going to be a real force to be reckoned with. If you’re looking for some straightforward, in-your-face rock then look no further.” – Belwood Music

New Music Video ‘Godzilla!’

New Album ‘Unsaved Progress’ Out Now!

Ottawa nerd-rockers DOUBLE EXPERIENCE will be performing at this year’s Guardian Con, the official Destiny and Destiny community convention in Tampa Bay, FL from June 30th to July 1st. Being huge Destiny fans themselves plus creating a tribute music video ‘The Glimmer Shot’ that has game fans raving for more, DOUBLE EXPERIENCE are thrilled to be fan boys and musicians all in one spot! plus the entire event will broadcast on Twitch.

“After visiting the convention last year, we made it our goal to get involved in an official capacity. We feel very proud to be able to give back to a community that has provided our band with lifelong memories and friends.” comments vocalist / bassist Ian Nichols.

Watch their Destiny tribute video ‘The Glimmer Shot’ at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AejX3M1H-E4

About GuardianCon:

What started as a fan meetup for Destiny streamers King Gothalion and Professor Broman in August of 2015 grew to encompass numerous Destiny content creators. The result was what fans dubbed “DestinyCon”. A year later in 2016, Destiny Community Con took place again in Tampa, Florida, as a proper convention with proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital where the Destiny community raised over $544,000. After Destiny Community Con ended the event was rebranded as GuardianCon.

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE released their third full-length, “Unsaved Progress” via their label Colfax Music in April of last year. The album includes their single “The Glimmer Shot”; a Destiny-themed rock anthem, which earned them accolades from the creators of the video game itself plus their cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Godzilla’. Taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards, the band utilizes classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging. The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE have performed across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Their adventures have been supported by international radio, festivals and television alike, culminating with an entire nerd-rock exposé and performance on Global TV in Canada.

Album orders are available at the band’s merch store here. A deluxe edition of the album – boasting two unreleased songs, two acoustic remixes, merch discount codes, studio footage and a brand new trading card – is also available for the fastidious Double Experience collector.

“Their new album is upbeat and full of awesome tracks, leading straight into the first song, ‘So fine‘, which instantly gets you into the mood of this album.” – Ram Zine (UK)

“Verifying my “nerd” suspicions, they began and closed an original song with Darth Vader’s theme, the Imperial March, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. In addition to their set of mainly original music, they also included a cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s Godzilla, which was fitting with their stoner vibe, especially considering there is also a Fu Manchu version.” – Spotlight Ottawa

“this band is passionate about video games which is reflected in the underlying themes of their music. More apparent to non-video game savvy listeners is that Double Experience are a solid rock band with well crafted and catchy tunes that have crossover appeal to fans of different music genres.” – Forget The Box

“The songs on this, 9 track, album are narrative driven and mammoth in proportion. Songs like ‘AAA‘ and ‘Godzilla‘ are glorious sagas of esoteric depth. There is a power on this album that is both new and old.” – 925 Rebellion

The EP showcases their highly regarded musicianship and finely wrought song-craft.  As a whole ‘Power of One’ is a musical journey with a story concept to question the status quo and stand up against the oppression plus deceptions of the ruling class.

Teaming up with PureGrainAudio.com, OmnisighT are excited to share with fans, especially those who are drum aficionados, a new drum playthrough from drummer Chris Warunki for their EP’s title track ‘Power of One’.

We are excited to get this out to the prog/rock/metal masses both musically and lyrically. Speaking of lyrically, the album will come with a PDF booklet exclusive to our Bandcamp supporters. We took a “more is more” approach with this one and it will be a real challenge, but a welcome challenge; to take it to the stage. We want to keep the musicianship in the music, that has been our agenda since day one!”

About:
Known for their formidable musicianship, virtuosic guitar solos and powerful songs, OmnisighT is masterfully blurring the lines between melodic hard rock and progressive metal. Beginning as collaboration between vocalist/guitarist Raj Krishna and drummer Chris Warunki, they created the impressive ‘Path’ debut album in 2012. Their live line-up was consolidated with the addition of Dave Shannon on bass and guitarist Blake Rurik. ‘Path’ was followed up by the 2013 ‘Wave Particle’ EP.

Like all truly visionary musicians, band co-founder Raj was driven to create unique music. “I’ve been writing and singing songs since I was a little kid. We never seemed to hear heavy prog music that had shredding and hooks at the same time. It always seems you get one or the other….Having technical musicianship with good song-writing, shredding licks, and big hooks was the whole idea.”

Raj sums up OmnisighT’s music thusly: ‘Proggy, hooky, shredding, sad, and powerful!’

While Raj is justifiably proud of OmnisighT’s recorded output, he sees the importance of performance. ‘Live is where the band really shines! We put on a show, running around smiling and shredding. The band plays with more intensity…we often give the headliners a run for their money.’

“The depth of talent in Canada often surprises us. Here is another superb band to add to the list. It remains to be seen how far “The Power Of One” takes OmnisighT. But one thing is for sure, it is an EP of which they can be incredibly proud.” – Maximum Volume Music

“If you’re going to attempt this sort of thing, you’d better have chops. Fortunately, (OmnisighT) have ’em, and how.” – Georgia Straight

“Their stage presence and technique is out of this world…I can safely say that the only guitarists I’ve seen live that instilled the same sort of awe in me as Raj Krishna were Jeff Loomis and John Petrucci himself.” – Prog Sphere

“great songwriting, fantastic lead guitar work…immediately on the first track, the intro “String Theory,” we are greeted by some immense guitar skills. Seriously, these guys are fucking fantastic.” – The Monolith

“deliciously retro, Zappa-meets-Malmsteen solos with at least one toe in the land of jazzy improv… guitar fiends should rush to check them out.” – Georgia Straight

“I have never been more impressed with a band that I had zero knowledge about. These guys play like they’ve been playing together since birth and clearly love what they do at a cellular level.” – Metal Titans

Ottawa, ON’s TRIGON will be releasing their 11 track debut album ‘Fed Up’ produced by the band with Anders Drerup and due out on March 24th. The band is inspired by artists as diverse as Volbeat, Crobot, David Wilcox, System of A Down, Nirvana, Megadeth, Black Sabbath and Slayer, yet already they have forged their own unique sound.

Teaming up with New Noise Magazine, TRIGON are premiering their frightening single ‘Nightmare’ in tribute to the haunting talents of Freddy Kreuger.

If you were alive in the 80s, there was this one crazy movie that was terrifying everyone… that’s right Nightmare on Elm Street. So Trigon dedicated this song to the legend Freddy Krueger and his debauchery on Elm Street. Listen carefully as we perform a short bio about Frederick Charles Krueger!  Sweet dreams!” says vocalist / bassist Emanuel Viau.

Vancouver, BC’s WITHOUT MERCY released their latest EP ‘Mouichido’ during May of last year. The EP was a rebirth for the band as it was a re-release of re-recorded material from their 2014 EP ‘Reborn’. ‘Mouichido’ is the Japanese word for “Repeat” or “to do one more time” and is perfectly titled for the EP to signify its re-release of previously recorded versions that now feature new vocalist Alex Friis and bass tracks recorded by Tristan Martin plus live performance being done by Ryan Loewen. Newly added to the EP was also a guest appearance by vocalist Mark Hunter of Chimaira on the track ‘In Waves’, which the band is releasing a new lyric video for and have teamed up with Bravewords.com to exclusively premiere.

Without Mercy guitarist DJ Temple had this to say:

“Working with Mark Hunter and seeing what he could do with one of our tracks was a pretty unreal experience!”

About:

Tenacity, work ethic and originality. There’s no excuses anymore.

Vancouver-based Without Mercy certainly stays true to its name. Ruthless and menacing, these Canadian metal titans have cultivated and redefined the phrase, “Fuck Pussy Metal”.

Founded in 2004, Without Mercy has gone from strength to strength over the years. They released their first EP “All Else Fails” in 2007 completely independently and used its humble beginnings to start the catapulting of performances, internet presence and radio play. In 2009, Without Mercy went on to record their self-titled full length album using the same team that worked on records by Devin Townsend, Mudvayne, and Marilyn Manson.  Without Mercy rode the attention wave of their self-titled debut, using the escalation to begin a relentless performance schedule that would lead them far from their hometown and include over 200 live performances.  No stranger to tenacity, in only a few short years Without Mercy have achieved; being the only indie metal band in Western Canada to have two tracks available on Rock Band 3, being featured in Tattoo Savage Magazine, and pioneering the phrases, ‘You Smell Like A Bitch’ and ‘Fuck Pussy Metal’ – which have now become synonymous with the band.

In 2014, Without Mercy unleashed third studio release, “Reborn”.  Another massive evolution for the band, Without Mercy sought to bring back the organic metal sound and combine it with a high production standard.  Fast forward to 2016, some line up changes with a new vocalist and bassist, the band shared with fans re-recorded material from ‘Reborn’ on their latest EP ‘Mouichido’ that even featured Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter on their track ‘In Waves’. The EP was unleashed on May 27th, 2016 and was supported with a steady rotation of touring and appearances across Canada and the USA. All of course, independently.

– 30 –

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy will make you break a sweat with ruthless metal tunes from its newest EP, Mouichido, which features Chimaira’s Mark Hunter.” – Vue Weekly

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet ply their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments.” – Decibel Magazine

“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” – Pure Grain Audio

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 24, 2017

Out Now! Edmonton’s ABSINTHE FROM SOCIETY Streaming Full EP ‘The Angels Ignored Us’

First launching on to the Edmonton metal scene in 2006 and releasing their debut EP ‘Project Infection’ in 2012, ABSINTHE FROM SOCIETY return in 2017 after a short hiatus with their next release ‘The Angels Ignored Us’ out now as of February 24th and streaming in full at the following link: https://absinthefromsociety.bandcamp.com/releases

Comprised of Ian “Saint Absinthe” Harper, the founder of the band (vocals, guitar and keyboard) and Adam “The Caveman” Roberts (drums & percussion) with Lexi “Shitkicker 9000” Graham (bass & vocals), the trio combine an aggressive sound with ethereal texture.

Their new EP ‘The Angels Ignored Us’ touches on emotional themes with a raw heavy backdrop.

Band founder Ian Harper comments:

“Existing fans will love it and hopefully other people who hear it for the first time will be impressed. The EP has a lot of raw sound, which was part of the goal for the EP. We didn’t want anything overly produced because that seems to be the trend these days, and we feel that live music is really at the root of any musical renaissance.”

Influenced by bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, The Tea Party and The Foo Fighters, ABSINTHE FROM SOCIETY are not trying to be innovative, but simply pushing to entertain and reach as many people as possible.

“We find our music attracts different people. We have a heavier sound, but we do have softer melodies. My lyrics are emotionally charged and give each track its own personality. In this new EP, my writings deal mainly with relationships and especially toxic ones, which I’m sure many can relate to along with feelings of frustration and anger as well as sadness. Overall, whether you’re a mosher or someone who stands and grooves, we find we’ll appeal to most in the metal spectrum.”

  1. Hellbent (3:54)
    2. A Man Possessed (4:05)
    3. Never (4:49)
    4. Worth It (4:04)
    EP Length: 16:54

‘The Angels Ignore Us’ will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Bandcamp and all major online retailers as of Feb 24, 2017.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 23, 2017

For fans of Alexisonfire, Every Time I Die, Thrice, Underoath, Beartooth

Idioteq Premiere THIS GUN FOR HIRE Video ‘Barn Burner’

Debut Album ‘Something A Little More Sinister’ Out March 31st

Rock tinged melodic metalcore / post hardcore Vancouverites THIS GUN FOR HIRE will be unleashing their debut album ‘Something A Little More Sinister’ on March 31, 2017. The band has already released singles ‘Infection‘ and ‘Good Evening Deacon‘ and are now ready to present the premiere of their next video ‘Barn Burner’ exclusively on Idioteq.com.

“You ever been to one of those parties where you feel like you’re on top of the world? Well this isn’t one of those parties. Welcome to Barn Burner! Where the drinks aren’t free and the girls ain’t pretty. Get ready for a night full of hazards, disasters, and bastards where there’s no going home! Barn Burner is This Gun for Hire‘s party jam that doesn’t let up, even for a second. Delving into the Canadian atmosphere of bush and house parties. You better dust off those dancing shoes and buckle up for a wild… ish ride. Special thanks to Kris Hellstrom for creating another awesome video for us.” the band comments.

Watch ‘Barn Burner’ at the following link: http://www.idioteq.com/barn-burner-groovy-melodic-metalcore-act-this-gun-for-fire-premiere-new-video/

THIS GUN FOR HIRE recorded ‘Something A Little More Sinister’ with engineer and producer Roger Swan (K-OS, Battle Axe) to present their first clutch of original songs to showcase to the world. The twelve track release displays a keen awareness of pace and dynamics. Moving deftly from the seething chaos of the eponymous opener to the grandiose and melodic epic of “To The Fallen And The Faithful’, and back again for the staccato grunt of ‘Barn Burner’ to finish the record, THIS GUN FOR HIRE leave you in little doubt as to their capabilities.

‘Something A Little More Sinister’ will be available through iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby.
