Calgary, Canada’s most versatile metal band Black Pestilence is now streaming their new album “Hail the Flesh” via Metal Injection. Listen HERE.

The trio is stoked to release their sixth studio album, their most refined and mature record to date. Working hard over the last year and a half, the band has been pounding out their signature blend of black metal, punk, and noise. The result is 9 blistering tracks with fast drums, angry vocals, and an array of synthesized melodies.

Raising hell since 2008, Black Pestilence has reached an apex of refined satanic torment. Band founder, bassist and vocalist Valax adds:

“‘Hail The Flesh’ will be fast, and chaotic. Lyrically, for it, I talk about glorifying the carnal lifestyle and celebrating Earthly pleasures and indulgences. I am inspired by so many different avenues for lyrics. Without sounding too cliche, most of the lyrics are about Satanism, but not on a theistic level, just true, carnal, humanistic Satanism. Many other songs are also about social issues.”

Black Pestilence is for fans interested in Impaled Nazarene, Municipal Waste, and Midnight.

Over the course of twelve years, Black Pestilence has released five full-length albums, filmed four music videos, and performed all over Canada and Europe. They have also shared the stage with a number of notable bands including The Black Dahlia Murder, Toxic Holocaust, Absu, Skeletonwitch, and Wednesday 13.

“Hail the Flesh” will be available on May 1st and is available for pre-order on Bandcamp along with their previous releases.

“A recent discovery that has tickled the excitement nerves in my jaded and encrusted ear drums is Calgary’s Black Pestilence. Their take on black metal incorporates old-school thrash and punk and if you listen closely you can hear the smatterings of plain ol’ rock ‘n’ roll and swaths of noise and is a sound that has been explored and nurtured since the band formed as a one-man project in 2008. The band’s handlers claim those fans of Toxic Holocaust, Impaled Nazarene, Municipal Waste, Midnight and Cradle of Filth unconcerned with genre boundaries will enjoy Black Pestilence and we have to say the nail has certainly been hit on the head in that regard. Additionally, fans of image and theatrics will find value in the band’s aesthetic which owes to a collision of black metal, goth rock and Judas Priest’s wardrobe and fashion sense. ” – Decibel Magazine

“an album that really has a surprisingly wide range within the black/thrash/punk style so if you love that sort of black and roll aggressive metal, then “Hail The Flesh” will be an album for you.” – The Rockpit

“They really don’t have another gear beyond ‘top’ which makes for a splitting headache of heavy but one that satisfies. After all there are only 9 tracks and as Godless spits and snarls, Frauds to the Throne exudes filthy groove, My Will to Power rages hard and Ephemeral drags the suffering out, the over-riding thought is Black Pestilence have impressed.” 8/10 – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“First things first, it’s not every day you hear black metal as fun as this! That is partly because of the exciting thrash and not-so-serious punk influences, but also because the songwriting is very strong. ” 4/ 5 – The Independent Voice

“dirty, punky Black/Thrash that occasionally makes feedback noises and consistently slaughters everything in its path.” 4/5 – The Metal Crypt

“They can smash extremely well, and their blend of black metal aesthetic with punk attitude is a perfect fit ” – 4/5 – Deaf Sparrow

“a musical union of black / thrash & punk that just rock ROCK! I give 9 out of 10 Hellfire points” – Hellfire Magazin

“Bringing a sonic assault to listeners…..” – Permafrost Today

Edmonton death metal duo Tales of The Tomb are sharing with fans their latest guitar playthrough for ‘Sinful Messiah’. The track comes off of the band’s EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” unleashed this past September. The EP itself is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. It’s also a vicious bite of grinding blast beats, technical shredding accompanied by venomous guttural lows.

‘Sinful Messiah’, the third track of six on the EP, is a dark tale of the infamous cult leader David Koresh and the Branch Davidians (if you follow Netflix, watch WACO).

Today, guitarists Trez Thomas and Corey Skerlak have put together a new playthrough for the song, which is one of many more videos being released by the band in the coming weeks.

Behold the shredding duo via the video’s premiere on Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

The band explains the story behind the song:

“Our song ‘Sinful Messiah’ focuses on the cult leader from the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas — David Koresh. The Branch attracted the attention of the ATF when the US postal service flagged a suspicious parcel containing live hand grenades being shipped to their compound. The name ‘Sinful Messiah’ is ripped from the headline of a newspaper article giving him the title; because David believed he was the second coming of Christ. This song was written to sonically recreate the events that took place portraying the level of chaos and confusion created by raids and the siege on the compound. This event has been regarded by some as a publicity stunt in the wake of cult hysteria to paint the ATF in a positive light — leading to a “who shot first?” conspiracy.”

Behold the shredding duo in the following video via Ghost Cult Magazine HERE.

“Volume Two: Mendicium” was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson along with featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks. The EP is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. The Nightmare Hall (4:05)
2. Faul (3:02)
3. The Sinful Messiah (4:14)
4. Dyatlov Pass Incident (3:52)
5. Nine Eleven (4:46)
6. Mermaid In A Manhole (3:33)
EP Length: 23:44

About:

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.  Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (guitar, vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

– 30 –

“Overall, I recommend this album to death metal fans of all varieties. It is a fun album with a lot of great riffs. Also, I highly recommend reading the lyrics and learning about the conspiracy theories behind the songs.” – Metal Temple

“Volume Two: Mendacium is six songs of punishing metal fit for listeners with the heaviest of taste. Whether you’re spending time carving pumpkins or watching slasher movies this Halloween season, be sure to make room on your playlist for Tales of the Tomb.” – Surviving The Golden Age

” Their new, independently released EP is heavy as ice and laced up with razor-sharp production. Volume Two: Mendacium is a non-stop frosty riff fest, delivered on a moose-poutine platter of awesome production thanks to the Canucks over at The Grid. Slapshot your wallets & pick up this death metal gem.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“The need to head bang is strong with this one, and it made for an excellent addition to my Death Metal library.” – New-Transcendence

“All in all, Tales of the Tomb’s latest installment is a rather subtle tale that is more akin to a destructive musical journey through morbid lyrical themes and passages.” – Metal Trenches

Rockshots Records: EXTREMA Release Cover Video of Judas Priest’s “The Ripper” via MetalInsider

Donating Proceeds To Italian Covid-19 Relief

Album “Headbanging Forever” Out Now! via Rockshots Records

During their studio sessions for their latest album “Headbanging Forever”, Italian groove thrash metallers EXTREMA recorded a cover version of Judas Priest’s “The Ripper”.

Today, the band is sharing its video for that cover with its premiere via MetalInsider.net HERE.

Adding to the cover track’s release, with their home country of Italy hit hard by the Covid 19 pandemic, EXTREMA will be donating all profits from downloads and streams to the Italian Civil Protection, who are the frontlines in the battle against this virus, coordinating the nation’s pandemic response with Italy’s Ministry of Health.

Digital download available on Apple Music.

Mastermind and guitar player Tommy Massara comments:

“Our cover of ‘The Ripper’ was originally conceived as a bonus track of ‘Headbanging Forever’ for the Japanese market. As we did not find the sought license in Japan, the song was closed in a drawer. To me, Coronavirus is like Jack the Knife hitting you from behind, so I felt the need to release the song as a digital single. All the royalty’s proceeds will be donated to the Italian Civil Protection. I discussed it with Gabri, Frullo, and Tiziano, and they accepted enthusiastically. I hope you enjoy our version of this timeless Judas Priest’s classic hit”.

EXTREMA’s singer Tiziano “Titian” Spigno adds:

“This emergency, which arrived in the midst of our Italian tour, caught everyone unprepared. During these times music, books, movies, and art in general, although so badly affected, in many cases are a refuge for those people isolated at home, managing to get a few moments of serenity. Extrema want to contribute with this cover, recorded during the recording session of ‘Headbanging Forever’”.

EXTREMA tour dates have been rescheduled as follows:

September 2020
12 Bolzano  IT – Pippostage
26 Roma IT – Defrag
27 Milano IT – Milano Headbanging Fest @ Magazzini Generali

November 2020
07 Mantova IT – ArciTom

Bio:

EXTREMA’s original line-up was established between 1985 and 1986 in Milan, Italy. In a very short time, the band led by guitars player Tommy Massara achieved a huge success. Tommy is the only remaining member of the original line-up, and over the years he also played the role of artistic and executive producer.

Hundreds of concerts made the band more and more close-knit and open towards a constant growth path, capable from the beginning of welcoming influences external to heavy metal, a consistent choice within an evolutionary framework which saw EXTREMA start from the rebellious attitude of MOTÖRHEAD to later incorporate the style of Californian thrash metal, a scene with which the band shared the utmost care for the technical side of music and a devastating presence on stage.

The band’s reputation as musicians and performers kept growing in a perpetual live context, with extensive tours and the participation to prestigious festivals with the likes of METALLICA, SLAYER, MOTÖRHEAD, and KORN, a.o.

Extraneous from the beginning to political and ideological implications of any kind, EXTREMA’s lyrics have always strived to alternate challenging and contemporary themes with lighter subjects, true to rock’n’roll form.

In May 2017 the band welcomed the new frontman Tiziano Spigno. Thanks to his entry, EXTREMA can finally release all the creativity repressed in recent years: a violent, direct and engaging approach which is – at the same time – also varied, courageous and experimental, resulting in the new album “Headbanging Forever”.

EXTREMA is:
Tiziano “Titian” Spigno – Vocals
Tommy Massara – Guitars
Gabri Giovanna – Bass
Francesco “Frullo” Larosa – Drums

Norwegian Death Metal Féleth Premiere ‘Swan Song’ via Metal-Rules

Debut Album “Depravity” Due Out May 22nd via DeadPop Records

Nestled in the small northern Norwegian town of Alta, far above the Arctic circle, there’s a rumbling of brutality shaking the earth from a young, dynamic metal quintet known as Féleth. Creating heavy, melodic assaults, that transcends the traditional limits of the genre, these great northern Norwegians, are taking their influences of death metal, thrash, deathcore, rock and even elements of Jazz to unleash to the world their debut album “Depravity” due out via DeadPop Records on May 22, 2020.

The track shows off more of their deathcore influences compared to other songs on the album such as the epic ‘Dissolution’ that jumps from death metal to jazz to black metal seamlessly, and ‘Pale Tongue’, transforming from in your face death metal to a beautiful ambient soundscape.

The album was mixed and mastered by death metal legend, Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Shadow of Intent, The Agonist, Beyond Creation) at The Grid Productions. The album also features guest vocals from hometown hero, singer/songwriter Petter Carlsen.

Lyrically the album pulls away from traditional death metal tropes, to also criticize capitalism, pollution, fake news, and the depravity of humanity at large. Musically, the full length features beautiful melodic leads, heavy chugging guitars, bass solo’s, fast intricate drum work, and the huge vocal range from the lead vocalist, Espen Dagenborg.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 28, 2020

For fans Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Velvet Revolver

Rockshots Records Signs Calgary’s In/Vertigo For Release of EP “Sex, Love & Chaos” July 2020

New Music Video ‘The Night’

Rockshots Records announces their latest signing of In/Vertigo, hard rockers hailing from Calgary, Canada. The band will be releasing their debut EP “Sex, Love and Chaos” this coming July 2020. The four-song record portrays In/Vertigo‘s intensity, drive, and relentless ear drilling musical expressions. It’s a result of their sound, says the band, “Sexy, Passionate and Chaotic. All the songs represent these three things in one or more ways. We want to get their hearts pumping, and veins throbbing. We want to be the soundtrack to your sex life, social life, your highs, your lows, and your deepest introspective moments.”

The EP’s lead single ‘The Night’ is the most groovy and bluesy song on the record, the band explains:

“The Night is the perfect mix of Blues, Sex, Swagger and Rock n Roll. Playing on the Jekyll and Hyde saga of most people’s day persona’s and night persona’s. This new track speaks volumes about how people turn 180 in the evenings and/or weekends, bringing out their darker selves, and overindulging in whatever the night scene has to offer.”

Watch the video for ‘The Night’ HERE.

And Spotify HERE.

Formed in 2016, the quartet delivers relentless, memorable performances at the jet engine decibels of a Boeing 747. Consisting of vocalist Reed Alton, guitarist Shaddy Elsaghir, bassist Duncan McCartney, and drummer Keaton Byfield, the band has already made a mark for itself touring and constantly gigging around Western Canada.

Performing high profile gigs with international acts such as Diamond Head, Age Of Electric, Pop Evil, The Wild!, The Lazy’s has proven the band as young pros, still hungry for bigger stages and even bigger crowds.

Their self-titled demo, recorded under Ronnie Champagne (Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction, Social Distortion) had a limited run of 500 and subsequently sold out.

Currently completing their official EP, set to be released in the summer of 2020, the four-song debut promises to be a rude awakening in the current hard rock drought.

In/Vertigo is the quintessential rock n’ roll act, who comes in with a sonic molotov cocktail of sound, aimed at the music world who unapologetically thirsts for classic/hard rock.

About:

In/Vertigo was founded in the spring of 2016 by local Calgary rock veterans Shaddy Elsaghir and Duncan McCartney who had got in contact with local vocalist Reed Alton. After jamming with a few drummers they found their fourth quarter in Keaton ‘Keystone’ Byfield through a reliable recommendation. The quartet immediately found chemistry through both musical and personal commonly related beliefs and goals. Thus creating a tubules force that would wreak havoc throughout Western Canada for the next few years.

Through hard work, relentless ethic, and determination, I/V was able to cement themselves as rock and roll staples within their hometown of Calgary and the rest of the western Canadian provinces. They soon started to open up for bigger named acts such as Diamond Head, Pop Evil, The Wild!, The Lazy’s to name a few, and gaining even more attention and accolades.

Around the rise and constant momentum that the band had been accumulating in 2017, the group recorded a 4 song demo with Ronnie S Champagne (of Alice In Chains, Janes Addiction fame) that sold out a limited print both locally and regionally within the year. By 2018 they recorded a cut of what will be their debut EP: Sex Love & Chaos. This was again a limited print that sold out both within their own homegrown territory and abroad. Backed by a self-financed music video for their song Bad Enemy the band was able to constantly tour and gig nonstop over the next 2 years reaching upwards of 350 shows.

After the success locally and online of Bad Enemy (which had been streamed over 200,000 times on Spotify alone), In/Vertigo was reached out and acquired to perform at the 4th of July festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida in 2019. This marked the first international gig for the Canadian hard rockers, who did not disappoint, performing in front of 3 thousand to a great reception and success.

Due to the snowball effect that had been a product of the band’s efforts, In/Vertigo was signed to Italian heavy metal and hard rock label Rockshot Records. This, along with the momentum that the band has continuously upheld, paves way for the answer in the global market of Hard Rock and Rockn’ Roll: In/Vertigo.

Now currently completing their revamped and polished debut EP Sex Love & Chaos, In/Vertigo along with their label and ever-growing team, set out to launch the next great chapter in rock history. Make way for most up and coming quintessential Rock n Roll act of this generation. They are hungry and armed with a sonic Molotov cocktail of sound, aimed at the music world who unapologetically thirsts for classic/hard rock.

Kicking off their video series “The Quarantine Sessions” last week during their individual Covid 19 isolation, all-star modern metal band Imonolith has their the next playthrough ready for fans for the track ‘Instinct’ from their recently released debut album “State of Being”.

Watch the playthrough via its premiere on GearGods HERE.

Drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen comments:

“Hey Everyone,

Greetings from the Imonolith Camp!

The music industry has been flipped upside down with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Not only are bands suffering worldwide but so are the fans and supporters of these bands… they aren’t getting the live shows and entertainment they’re used to all year long. As a result, we’re getting creative in how to stay engaged with those people who support us.

Imonolith came up with an idea called ’The Quarantine Sessions’. This is how it works – From our various living rooms/rehearsal spaces in self Isolation, we are recording videos of ourselves playing through each song off of our debut album ’State of Being’. You can see how we perform these songs on our respective instruments. We release one song every Monday on our Imonolith YouTube page. We already have released ‘Becoming the Enemy’.

You can watch it here.

To keep in touch directly with our supporters, every Tuesday following the video release, we do a live feed on our Instagram page to talk about the song and video we released and do a live Q&A with everyone on the live feed. It’s a great way to stay in touch and keep you all informed about everything to do with Imonolith.

This week we’re releasing a playthrough of one of the most popular songs on the album so far, ‘Instinct’. We’re honoured to have Gear Gods premiering this for us! Hope you guys enjoy it and we look forward to seeing you guys on Tuesday at our Instagram page to talk about the video, answer questions and hang!

Big thanks to Gear Gods for the premiere and to all our supporters for your awesome support.

Be safe out there and stay tuned for much more to come from all of us in the Imonolith Camp.”

The album features special guest appearances from Jens Kidman (Meshuggah) and famed Swedish vocalist Johannes Eckerström and is made up of 10 hook-laden, riff-heavy tracks that center around the theme of how people deal with various stages of life.

The album has already seen the release of four singles and videos – ‘Hollow’, the 2019 debut single that made big waves, racking up 216K Spotify streams, ‘Instinct’, ‘Dig’; and the most recent single, ‘Becoming The Enemy’. “Given the members’ diverse musical backgrounds, IMONOLITH don’t fit any obvious metal genre tag. Van Poederooyen and Wadell bring elements of prog, while Howard’s vocals are rooted in the metalcore and extreme metal.” – Consequence of Sound

“‘State of Being’ is built on a backbone of pure heaviness, hard-hitting riffs and irresistible hooks which keep the album burning at high intensity from start to finish.” – Sonic Perspectives

“Those looking for something that knows how to groove hard, offer a catchy chorus, or knock you flat on your back over the course of an album will find ‘State of Being’ to be an immersive listen.” – Dead Rhetoric

“A winning combination that works perfectly.” – The Rock Pit

Rockshots Records: ISLE OF THE CROSS New Music Video ‘Stars’

Debut Album “Excelsis” Out Now!

Progressive-death metal band ISLE OF THE CROSS have unleashed their new video ‘Stars’ in support of their debut album “Excelsis” released this past February via Rockshots Records. The track is a tale of the enrapturing love of two, who befall an early death, yet vow their unending devotion to reunite beyond this life and for eternity.

Watch the video at this link HERE.

Infusing a blend from the avant-garde realms of extreme, symphonic, melodic, and technical death-metal, ISLE OF THE CROSS is led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Je Schneider.

The debut full length “Excelsis” is a concept release based on a tale of two lovers amidst betrayal, murder and their search to reunite in the afterlife. From the immediate and vicious thrust of the opening track ‘Sacrifice’, the listener is quickly catapulted into an enigmatic journey of sonic power. From the furious to the melodious opuses on the album, the listener is enveloped in a dynamic exploration until the very end. At the heart of ISLE OF THE CROSS is the conveyance of depth, poignancy, and redemption through the endurance of tragedy.

‘Excelsis’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Je Schneider.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – April 27, 2020

For fans of Celtic Frost, Slayer, Voivod, Death, Possessed

Cave Metal CHAKA Shares New Video ‘Flak’ Off “Neanderthal Tales” EP

Primal, thrashy cave metal CHAKA, a side-project from Darkside NYC bassist Mark Sokoll, is sharing with fans the new music video for ‘Flak’ in support of the EP “Neanderthal Tales”, a primal barrage of prehistoric metal power released this past December.

The video for ‘Flak’, is the band clad in surplus gear with patriotic face paint.

Sokoll adds:

“An uptempo song about Kamikaze attacks during WW2. I tried to evoke the horror of being attacked by unconventional suicide planes.”

The video for ‘Flak’ can be seen on YouTube HERE.

Expecting fans to receive the new offering “Neanderthal Tales” with enthusiasm, Sokoll hopes listeners will enjoy the heaviness of the music and the thought-provoking lyrics. Focused on science topics, such as the theory of evolution and mankind’s place in the universe; Sokoll likes to write about subjects that have not yet been explored. Carrying forward with an abundance of motivation, Sokoll quotes that “fans can expect a lot more productivity”.

A live show from CHAKA includes a heavily dressed stage including a monolith and artificial cairns as the backdrop for a very visceral and primal Heavy Metal experience.

“Neanderthal Tales” was released in December 2019 and is suitable for fans of Celtic Frost, Venom, and Motorhead.

About:

Chaka is a side-project from Darkside NYC’s bassist, Mark Sokoll. Their sound is in the vein of old Celtic Frost, Venom, Cro-Mags, and Black Sabbath. Mark has been playing the bass guitar since 1986 which is the same year he joined Terminal Confusion (NYHC). After playing bass guitar and singing background vocals for numerous other Punk and Metal bands in the NYC scene, (Hypoxia, Leeway, The Downlow NYHC, F*Bomb, etc.) Mark released his first solo EP in December of 2019 titled “Neanderthal Tales”.

Chaka’s music is described as “Cro-Magnon Cave Metal mixed with hardcore Punk Rock elements.” This EP features tales of Kamikaze pilot attacks, a history of weapons from the Dawn of Man until modernity, embracing evolution, and finally: hemispheres in conflict.

InEffect Hardcore magazine described the EP, in part, as: “Perhaps what Metalheads in leather vests marching down the street with torches would use as their theme songs” and “Gives off a Carnivore vibe with that heavy, heavy bass sound”.

The Neanderthal Tales EP is a return to brutal Heavy Metal with a primal barrage of prehistoric power. Let the regression begin!

Please visit http://www.neanderthaltales.com to hear the full EP for free, to watch the video for the first single, “Flak”, and to check out all things CHAKA.

“Ladies and gentlemen the year is 2020 and with the new year comes the birth of the latest rock sub-genre…. CAVE METAL!  Mark Sokoll… bassist of Darkside NYC (as well as the highly-underrated Terminal Confusion from way back in the day) is the main brain behind this four-song, ten minute debut which has its share of backstories… “Flak” leads off (check out the video) with a fuzzy bass and some straight outta da cave styled vocals. With so many styles of metal out there to be had cave metal is not that bad of a self-description to be honest with you. What I like about “Neanderthal Tales”is that these songs mix shit up… there is no singular pattern that they stick to. Just for that this EP gets some bonus points.” – In Effect Hardcore Magazine

New Album “The Last Extinction” Out May 22nd

Melodic death metallers [EVERTRAPPED] will be unleashing their fourth studio album “The Last Extinction” on May 22, 2020. The Montreal based five-piece intentionally wrote their band name with enclosed brackets to signify the trappings of modern life for all of us and how people, despite their best attempts to break out of the mold are still affixed to a simple controlled existence and futility.

Their forthcoming full length is a mix of the band’s sound that was defined on “The Anomaly” (2012) and “Under The Deep” (2015). With influences ranging from death metal to melodic death primarily, along with some classic thrash and speed metal, which explains their technicality and diversity sonically, the album overall will give fans a very heavy post-apocalypse feel. It’s meant to mix the dark and light of the end of all things. Fans of Arch Enemy, Persefone, Whitechapel, Death, and Fleshgod Apocalypse will feel the whirlwind of aggression.

Today the band is sharing the lyric video for their second single ‘Truth Behind Disorder’ via its premiere on The Circle Pit’s YouTube channel HERE.

The band explains the track:

“This song was written almost as a story that explores the negative effects of oppression towards advanced thinking. For the most part, more specifically, the oppression of organized religious groups. As the chorus of the song mentions ‘holy men,’ it kind of gives it away. But mostly depicts said negative effects as being the truth behind why the world, in some cases, is in such chaos. And the story ends with a conclusion suggesting one school of thought that if this is allowed to continue, and in this case suggests that if we continue this way, well you might as well give up now and be prepared to watch half the world burn because that’s the more likely outcome.”

Since 2007, [Evertrapped] has brought together their collective experience from the Montreal metal scene to create their heavy brand of melodic death metal. The guitarists Frederick Dupuis (ex-Daggerfalls) and Vincent Benoit hammer out raw guitar while drummer Eric Lemire (ex-Apocalypsys, ex-Ice Castle) pummels the drums. Their versatile frontman James Brookes (ex-Ammonia, ex-One Final Moment, Continuum) easily alternates between strong clear vocals and low bellowing screams giving listeners the illusion of more than one vocalist. John Yates (ex-AraPacis) weaves together each song with his driving bass lines to keep the energy of the punishing track at an all-time high.

Their lyrics come from two places. One from the dark and exaggerated metaphors for things actually based on personal events. The other is lyrics that are only loosely based in reality and have an almost fantasy-like appeal. Sometimes the reality can be based on what could be the actual state of the world as it is or an image of a future where the world is on the brink of an apocalypse. The overall idea is that the lyrics are not meant to be understood at face value in any way. It’s an art form that’s open to interpretation by the listener.

[Evertrapped]’s new album “The Last Extinction” will be available for stream and download on Spotify, Bandcamp and Apple Music as of May 22nd.

“If you’re looking for some heavy Lamb Of God vibes, heavier than the newer Lamb Of God has to offer, this is the band you’ve been needing in your life. The main chunk of the song(Sorrow (Nothing More In Between)) is straight to the point heavy metal. Harsh, aggressive, and ready to go.” – Metal Injection

‘’Those looking for melodic death metal on the heavier end of the spectrum need apply here…be ready to pump some fists, bang some heads, and reminisce back to a time when melodic death metal wasn’t all about clean, poppy choruses – just raw and memorable carnage.’’  – Dead Rhetoric

“I’ve played with some of the best metal drummers in the world and I’d put you up alongside them any day!” – Jeff Waters (Annihilator guitarist)

“Evertrapped, and as they lay their claim as one of the front runners of melodic death metal in all of the land” – Bucket List Music Reviews

‘’This is Headbanging 101, take your seat.’’  – Metal Trenches

‘’It’s clear these guys are not followers. They make their own brand of Melodic Death.’’  – Metal France

‘’If you want your dose of Melodic Death to be as brutal as possible, you won’t be disappointed with Under The Deep.’’ – Metal Universe

‘’Under The Deep is a full-throttle melodic death metal release that endlessly descends into new layers of carnage as the album progresses.’’  – Worship Metal
