NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 7, 2021

For fans of Judas Priest, Triumph, Motorhead, W.A.S.P, April Wine, Tank

Out Now! Metal Assault Records – Canada’s Deadwolff Self-Titled Limited Edition Cassette

New Music Video “Double Up”

Out Now! Metal Assault Records release the limited edition cassette version (only 100 copies) of Toronto’s Deadwolff’s self-titled EP. The EP was originally released digitally in December 2020 via Boonsdale Records and is streaming now on Bandcamp along with order of cassette – https://deadwolff.bandcamp.com/album/deadwolff.

You can also stream the EP digitally on the following platforms:
YouTube – https://youtu.be/rco8vukqo_A
Spotify

A blend of hard rock, punk, and metal, Deadwolff set themselves apart from other bands with their take on the New Wave of Heavy Rock and Roll. Recommended for fans of Judas Priest, Motorhead, and W.A.S.P, Deadwolff‘s is a revival of foot-tapping, beer-drinking, headbanging tunes, and more.

The band adds:

“Raw. Heavy. Unique. Fun. We write songs that we not only enjoy playing, but listening to as well, and those words would probably sum up the feelings we get when the songs are played. This EP is an excellent glimpse of what’s beginning. The new wave of heavy rock and roll…Deadwolff!”

The band’s music video and lead single “Double Up” was the second song written by Deadwolff and just so happens to be the second track on the five-track EP. Lyrically, it’s a song about gambling, the highs, the lows, and how those feel. Like the rest of the record, it’s a pumping tune that will incite you to crack a beer and get moving.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 7, 2021

For fans of Katatonia, Helloween, Amorphis, Anthema

Rockshots Records: Endless Chain Check-Off “All of The Above” From Upcoming Album “Forthcoming Past”

Debut Album “Forthcoming Past” Out June 25, 2021
ft. guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun),
Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari),
Antti Kolehmainen (Waltari), Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani)

Finnish songwriter Timo Mölsä will be releasing his studio project Endless Chain‘s debut album “Forthcoming Past” via Rockshots Records on June 25th, 2021.

The album features guests Mikko Heikkilä (Kaunis Kuolematon, Dawn Of Solace, Black Aeon Sun), Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic), Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator, Waltari), Antti Kolehmainen, (Waltari), and Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani). The full length was recorded, mixed, and produced by Aleksanteri Kuosa (Before the Dawn, Wolfheart, Waltari) along with mastering done by Juho Räihä (guitarist of Swallow the Sun).

Today, Endless Chain is now ready to unveil the next single “All of The Above” with guest vocals from Ville Hovi (Blackstar Halo), Aki Salonen (Nemecic).

Mölsä comments:

“The second last song I composed for the album. The song was built around a chorus lead guitar melody. After all, a pretty straight striking metal song with clean and growling vocals as well as a big chorus.”

Lyric Video – https://youtu.be/b9nbm_euL9U
Digital – https://backl.ink/146711362

A late bloomer to being a musician, Endless Chain‘s Timo Mölsä had his musical awakening in 2016, however, he has been listening and influenced by various genres of metal music for over 30 years. It took re-introducing himself to guitar with long-time friend Ari Hokkanen as a fun pastime that drove Mölsä to create his own songs. What would soon follow is a new project with contributions from Hokkanen for writing and lyrics.

Soon after, Mölsä shared his demos with drummer Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani), who, after listening, joined the project and performed all the drums on the debut record.

Step by step things fell into place, through Mikkonen, Mölsä became acquainted with producer Aleksanteri Kuosa who had a big impact on the completion of the debut album.

“Aleksanteri is an imaginative producer and he was also very patient with a perfectionist like me. He knew how to weed out extra notes from my compositions and finally got the most out of my songs. There were maybe a total of 20 songs in the beginning, of which we went through less than 15 in the preliminary production. Finally, 10 songs had been selected for the album. Through Aleksanteri, I also got many other great musicians involved in the project.”

The end result is Mölsä‘s dark and melancholic sound premiered through Endless Chain‘s first offering “Forthcoming Past”.

XAEL (ft. members of Nile, The Reticent, Rapheumets Well)

XAEL (ft. members of Nile, The Reticent, Rapheumets Well) announces they will be hitting the road in May 2022 to support Sweden’s BLOODBATH (Peaceville Records) for their North American tour dates (dates listed below).

XAEL drummer and band founder Joshua “Nassaru” Ward comments:

“We are really excited to be joining the mighty Bloodbath for the 2022 North American tour. Being long-term fans, this is a dream come true for us. This is going to be a unique and brutal tour with some rather interesting theatrics and bone-crushing metal! We look forward to seeing everybody on tour.”

Hailing from the American Carolinas, XAEL brings forth with them epic symphonic death metal like no other. Their new album entitled “Bloodtide Rising” is a concept record rooted in a science fiction universe that XAEL revolves all their music around. The extreme symphonic release chronicles the journey of a character named Darmak, an immortal who is trying to find purpose in a chaotic and complex multiverse.

XAEL was initially meant to be a personal project by drummer Joshua “Nassaru” Ward, however, when other musicians showed interest it evolved into a full-fledged project with each member contributing equally towards this current full length and the band’s first album “The Last Arbiter” (2018).

Fans of progressive and brutal metal along with sci-fi enthusiasts will take interest in what XAEL is doing. It’s different, and listeners can get lost in the complex multiverse that they have conceived. Epic and extreme, it is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Nile.

Release day is very near for Italy’s Reality Grey‘s fourth album “Beneath This Crown” out this Friday, May 7th. Fans are in for a treat, as the band is confident in what they call “the most innovative and modern record we have ever made”. They go on to explain the album further:

“With “Beneath This Crown” we wanted to go beyond everything we have done in the past both musically and lyrically. We were able to develop our most experimental side. The album has very different feels throughout the track listing; every song is a stand-alone story as we never liked to copy ourselves on and on. The writing process has been heavily influenced by movie soundtracks, especially sci-fi soundtracks,’ something that goes beyond a classic heavy metal song. We wanted to get very personal and original with this album and I think we nailed it!”

To go with this release is the final single, “Preachers of Hatred” presented with a music video. This is the most brutal song on the album; the fast thrash gives way to a groovy and jazzy pre-chorus. Insane drumming leads into a very heavy finale. The premise of the track is about current social and political situations. It touches on the social tragedy we’re living in today, with the richest and most powerful people on earth exerting control over everyone else’s life. Divide and conquer, then get richer and richer.

The video for “Preachers of Hatred” can be viewed and heard along with an interview via its premiere on WeAreThePit.com HERE.

Time was taken with this new full-length offering, Reality Grey had the time to experiment, and the result is aggressive, technical, and catchy. It is consistently progressive and new layers of the band’s creativity are unleashed.

Recommended for fans of As I Lay Dying, Scar Symmetry, and Lamb of God, “Beneath This Crown” will be out via Blood Blast Distribution, powered by Nuclear Blast as of May 7, 2021.

Reality Grey is supported by the Programmazione Puglia Sounds Record – 2020/2021 and REGIONE PUGLIA FSC 2014/2020 – Patto per la Puglia Investiamo nel vostro futuro.

About:
Hailing from South Italy, Reality Grey stands tall in the Italian metal scene. Formed in 2004, Reality Grey began their quest to redefine melodic death metal. As a tight-knit 5 piece band, Reality Grey incorporates a modern hybrid of extreme music: melody, brutality; blending complex, yet catchy songwriting. Fearsome death growls & clean vocals give way to razor-sharp guitar riffs and fusion-oriented solos, Reality Grey set out to create something all their own.

With the release of the debut full-length album “Darkest Days Are Yet To Come” in 2006, in the heat of the melodic death metal revolution, Reality Grey managed to secure their first record deal with Razar Ice Records USA. Songs like “Reality Grey” and “Never again” racked up hundreds of thousands plays on the old MySpace allowing the band to tour, gaining popularity well beyond the Italian borders. Following up with EP “Day Zero”, Reality Grey began to push their own boundaries. Ferocious, yet melodic, with a no-holds-barred songwriting attitude. Songs like “Day Zero” and “Slavery” emerged the band’s experimental side, synths, melancholic pianos, and acoustic guitars; perfectly fused with intoxicating sonic aggression.

After years of non-stop touring alongside bands like Deicide, Unearth, Municipal Waste, Sadist, Malevolent Creation, and more, the critically acclaimed “Define Redemption” is released by Bakerteam/Scarlet Records; sending the band on their first headline tour in Japan. Reality Grey, now having been featured on worldwide publications Metal Injection, Metal Hammer UK, Metal Temple, and Metal.de, released 2018’s “The Void”. Reviewed as “a complete and total aural devastation…” that “will blow your speaker out” by Metal Injection.

Reality Grey has completed work on their upcoming full-length due out May 7th 2021 (Blood Blast Distribution powered by Nuclear Blast). Looking ahead with tours and festival appearances on their sights, Reality Grey will continue to push ambitiously, earning their place among the pantheon of heavy music.

Now, having inked a worldwide deal with Extreme Management Group (EMG), the band says “We’re thrilled to announce that we have started working with Extreme Management Group! Definitely the right place for us. Big news is coming very soon. Stay tuned!” EMG said, “We are excited to be working with Reality Grey. They have some really fantastic music. We expect big things to come from this partnership.”.

“Melodic, aggressive and catchy, this track adds (Multidimensional Hollow) well placed synths and ambiance to an already well rounded sound, making it complex without being overcomplicated. The new album shows a marked evolution in the band’s sound, something that will intrigue current fans and entice new ones.” – Metal Injection

“Beneath this Crown, a creative step forward in their combination of NWOAHM from the early aughts, At the Gates-inspired metalcore and Scandinavian-flavoured melodic death metal.” – Decibel Magazine

“Reality Grey give off a viciousness and expertise hard to find in other bands. The instrumental expertise of each component is absolute, slighting touching tech-death side of acts like The Faceless but remaining ‘catchy’ in their complexity” – Metal Hammer

“It’s complete and total aural devastation with some seriously chunky moments, so it lives right up to what you’d expect a song called “The Void” to do.” – Metal Injection

“Reality Grey will serve the world of metal excellently both as an all round, no nonsense, metal act and as a brigde band for younger fans of heavy music” – Metalunderground.at

Playthrough Premiere via TechnicalMusicReview

New Album “Future Shock” Out Now!

San Diego’s MONARCH unleashed their sophomore album “Future Shock” this past April. Compared to their first, very DIY album, 2017’s “Go Forth… Slaughter”, MONARCH‘s next escapade “Future Shock” was done professionally at Clarity Recordings in El Cajon, California, and is a big step forward for the band both musically and sonically. The album hits hard on a lot of levels, there is speed, heaviness, melodies, great memorable lyrics along with riffs and solos.

And speaking of riffs and solos, today, the band’s guitarists Casey Trask and Matt Smith share their shredding skills with their new guitar playthrough for the track “Blast The Seed”.

The guitarists add:

“Blast The Seed’ is one of my favorite songs to play for sure, it has some techniques that I really enjoy hearing in other people’s playing. My first solo starts with a big ascending blues lick, then messes with some different minor modes. When I was coming up with these solos I tried to emulate a sort of progression that seemed like it was taking flight and blasting off at the end. My solo in the middle uses some quick legato peppered with some Palm muted staccato. I also used a cool bend technique I’ve always been a fan of where you pick and bend the E string up while bending the B string up as well with the same finger, then picking and releasing the bend on the B string, so I played around with that feeling a bit. I love the quick pentatonic work of Zakk Wylde and Richie Faulkner and you’ll hear some of that in this solo as well. For my final solo towards the end, I just thought it would be cool to let the solo branch off from the chorus riff in an organic way so the first lick in the solo actually starts off with the pull-off of the chorus riff. This one has some diminished runs going into some climactic dyads before blasting up to the 22nd fret for some speed picking down the minor scale. The last fast bit running up the neck brought out the Alexi Laiho influence in me for sure.” – Casey Trask

“‘Blast The Seed’ – Intro, Ultimate Battle Intro Number One cameo. Then the first riff is classic battle style 333322. Solo one, D blues with some nasty arpeggios at the end to tag off into Casey’s solo, key change a 5th. Then the main theme riff, blast-off ejecting classic descending melody riff with a cool lil’ harmony 5ths break at the end into the verse. Ride the D on the verse then bust the 3rds. Prechorus style harmonic minor riff with pedal 5ths. Chorus, just ejecting the D minor in the face before a screamer solo. Repeat everything for round 2. Back to the classic battle riff 333322 to prepare for launch into the solos. The first solo’s in A then Casey takes 2 over D then A. Then I clean up with some Yngwie sweeps in D before the heavy development. Big breaks, crazy drums fills, then to the dungeon bridge riff. More 333322 theme with the chords descending underneath and some rad 5th and 4th harmony action. Final chorus into the blast-off solo, my favorite riff, taking the verse melody and playing the chorus chords underneath. Into to final main theme with quad harmonies for the money shot. Seeds successfully blasted throughout the void between your ears.” – Matt Smith

“I tell you, they could give Megadeth a run for their money in the technically-superior-melodic-thrash stakes!” – Sentinel Daily

“Possibly more guitar-centric than their last album, Future Shock has that racing intensity and metal to the bone determination to win over even the most skeptical people in the underground. March up to the table and give Monarch your full support – as this is high quality thrash with diversity, musicianship, and killer songwriting at the forefront.” – Dead Rhetoric

“No matter if thrash is the creed which you live by or you’re venturing into the frenzied scene for the first time. Monarch will appeal to all who like their heavy metal to sound…well, like heavy metal. Get the muscles warmed up, you’re going to find your neck and arms are about to get a serious workout. Cue fists in the air and heads being banged.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“I like Monarch, and ‘Future Shock’ is an excellent album, the band are obviously very serious at what they are doing, and yet also have a unique sense of fun, I mean what other band can name the likes of the cartoons Futurama, the Legend of Zelda and Dragon Ball Z, as lyrical influences, and also come up with a character ‘The Whore of the North’ as the protagonist of another song? This hard hitting, yet very melodic, with some great hooks and choruses, the riffs and solos simply fly around your ears. If you’re a fan of the likes of Havok, Warbringer at el, you could do far worse than checking out this exciting foursome. Great stuff.” – The Razor’s Edge

“If there’s a reason to stick with Monarch’s thrashy second album Future Shock, it’s the fantastic chemistry between guitarist/vocalist Matt Smith and guitarist Casey Trask. They split soloing duties down the middle, trading them off with the finesse of a Mustaine/Friedman pairing, while locking in with harmonies on songs like “Khaos Warrior.” The first song alone, “Blast The Seed,” has seven guitar solos in its five minutes, and that’s not an exception, as all ten tracks have a truckload of impressive guitar performances.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“What a journey, from games worship to outer space to political controversy to whorey warriors, from mesmerizing classical guitar to thrash metal. There are even some synthesized sounding beats thrown in for good measure. ‘Future Shock’ is a true showcase of the range of Monarch’s technical ability. This band is definitely under-appreciated at the moment. There’s too much technique and flair here for them to be flying under the radar. Monarch is perhaps too often written off as pretenders to bigger bands but they aren’t pretending. They are owning their genre.” – Uber Rock

0 Rockshots Records: Aussie 80’s Speed Metal NOTHING SACRED New Album “No Gods” Coming July 2021 + New Music Video “Final Crime”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 5, 2021

For fans of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Death Angel, Exodus, Testament

Rockshots Records: Aussie 80’s Speed Metal NOTHING SACRED New Album “No Gods” Coming July 2021

New Music Video “Final Crime”

“No Gods” Out July 16th

One of the earliest Australian bands to play thrash/speed metal, Nothing Sacred was conceived in Melbourne, Australia in 1983. Unleashing their debut EP “Deathwish” in early 1985, launching the band as one of the most sought-after pit makers with the record’s title track becoming a classic within the Australian metal scene. In 1988, the band unleashed their first full-length entitled “Let Us Prey” on Cleopatra Records. Unfortunately a year after the LP’s release, the band disbanded in 1989. Lead guitarist Mark Woolley, bassist Karl Lean and drummer Sham went on to contribute to Hobbs’ Angel of Death‘s early work in the late 1980s. Woolley also appeared on Hobbs’ first self-titled album in 1988. Vocalist Mick Burnham later joined short-lived Melbourne band Seizure in 1993.

Although their tenure was short-lived, Nothing Sacred still remains an underground metal phenomenon in Australia. Songs from the Deathwish EP still get airplay on several Australian metal radio programs.

In 2012, Nothing Sacred performed a series 30th anniversary shows with Ross Percy (Ion Drive, Little House Godz) joining George Larin on guitar that included a support slot for the ex-Iron Maiden vocalists Paul Di’AnnoP/Blaze Bayley Australian tour. Despite the success, the band agreed not to continue and returned to retirement.

In 2015, the band decided to re-activate with a lineup of Sham, Karl Lean, George Larin, Ross Percy, and new vocalist Chris Stark. A slot on Melbourne’s Brewtality Metal Festival received positive reviews before the band embarked on a short tour of Japan, which inspired them to continue and lead the band to headline day one of the Steel Assassins Festival in Sydney.

Line-up changes again slowed the band, but with the addition of James Davies now on vocals and Stu Bedford on guitar, the band spent most of 2019 and 2020 writing and recording, what is now to be their first full length in over 30 years. Entitled “No Gods”, the record is Nothing Sacred‘s resurrection to the speed metal world. With a wealth of experience, a bucket load of riffs, and a renewed energy for one of Australia’s longest-running metal bands.

The band adds:

“We think our return with this new album will be received well. We’ve made a conscious effort to not be one-dimensional. We picked a cross-section of tracks we thought would make the album interesting. Though eight of the tracks are brand new, we decided to add two tracks ‘Final Crime’ and ‘Oracle’ we wrote for our 2nd album in the late 80’s, but never released.”

To give fans a preview of what’s to come, Nothing Sacred is sharing their music video for the first single “Final Crime”.

The band comments:

“This is one of the two tracks we’d chosen for the No Gods album from our archives that we’d written many moons ago. I saw acid rain and smog, you saw the sunset and a rainbow. There’s no tomorrow just a blank, you’ve only got yourself to thank. Don’t tell me that you never knew, you thought that hope would pull you through. I think those are our favorite lines from Mick Burnham. There’s nothing like stupid people doing nothing till it’s too late. Though this is one of our favorite tracks for some reason, it was never properly recorded and released. Here she is in all her glory, enjoy!”

Canadian progressive metalcore outfit Maitreya will be unleashing their upcoming full-length “Hyper Reels” this coming June 2021. The sophomore album boasts a higher degree of musical complexity, filthy breakdowns and a wider range on the vocals ebbing from melodic cleans into sustained growls set to a whirlwind of complicated riffs. The record is a heavily layered listening experience, a cacophony of styles, merging together to create an intense wall of sound that forces you to pay attention to all the subliminal notes and tempo changes.

To date, they have shared three singles “Summit”, “Departed” and “Catalyst” and today they are ready to present their next track in preview of the forthcoming album.

Similar to previously revealed singles that were inspired by the well-known TV show and movies, “Pilgrim” came to light after guitarist Mark Wylie’s viewing of a Black Mirror episode.

“Pilgrim has one of the more broad scoped lyrics concepts in the album. It talks about social trends and the kind of philosophy which organizes our society, which came to mind after seeing an episode of Black Mirror. Our society is organized in a way that leads many to feel imprisoned and trapped within the social norms and systemic structures that exist. This song seeks to emulate both the feelings of imprisonment, as well as a more positive vision for our collective societal future.” adds Wylie.

The music video itself is visually progressive and psychedelic with a calming audio experience until towards the end of the track, you get a beautiful djent breakdown along with an unleashed rapture from vocalist Matt Cutrara.

The music video for “Pilgrim” can be viewed via its premiere on SpaceUntravel‘s YouTube channel HERE.

“Hyper Reels” is out on June 25, 2021 and is recommended for fans of The Contortionist, Between the Buried and Me, and Protest the Hero.

“We’re always on the hunt for interesting new metal bands, and Canada’s Maitreya certainly qualifies. The band’s newest single, “Catalyst”, treads familiar progressive metal territory – think vocals similar to Leprous and instrumentation akin to older BTBAM – but rest assured it sounds fresh.” – New Fury Media

“Ambitious and aggressive, Canada’s Maitreya break boundaries from the beginning with Departed. Heavy, contemporary metal chords are underscored by droning, chorusing vocals, but blink and you’ll miss them as Maitreya soon change direction to a growling verse pandemonium. Their riffing is adventurous and deadly, cutting through weighty, rolling rhythms and movements.” – Jace Media

“Their musical abilities were astounding, and I believe they could have been each individually the most technically capable with their instruments of those performing that night.” – Metal Master Kingdom

“Lead-heavy, yet at the same time musically complex, Maitreya’s music is sonic baptism, taking the listener from the fire pits to the icy peaks. The band’s self-titled album weaves an intricate melodic narrative, where both headbanging metal-heavy riffs and reflective vocal lines co-exist in the vortex of sonic alchemy, presented to the listener in its raw, unfiltered elemental form.” – Dentata Music

Finland’s BLOODY HELL (ft. members of Moottörin Jyrinä, Metal De Facto)’s new album “The Bloodening” is now ready for headbangers everywhere via Rockshots Records as of Friday, April 30th.

For fans of old-school 80’s metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, and Helloween, Bloody Hell‘s “The Bloodening” features 12 fist-pumping songs to kick the band’s new found momentum into overdrive with their loud, unapologetic, speed demon tyranny.

Taking a hiatus after releasing two EPs, Hangover Riders (2010), What The Hell (2003) and a self-titled album (2015), along with all members focusing to perform with their other project Moottörin Jyrinä (a children’s heavy metal band that plays cover songs from classic 1980s heavy metal songs with child-friendly Finnish language lyrics with an educational tone), the quartet returns in 2021 to continue the party as grumpy old men with strong 18-year-old angst.

“Bloody Hell plays classic, keep-it-true, heavy metal… Most of their tunes are riff revved up, fast and heavy, metal tunes with assertive, yet harmonious, vocals, and an abundance of killer guitar solos. Listeners will hear this formula self-evident and repeated throughout the album with notable songs: The Undertaker, What The Hell, Bite, the drum driven fast and heavy Burn Witch Burn. 4/5” – Dangerdog Music Reviews

“Clearly having a blast, Bloody Hell want you to have a blast as well and to help make that a reality, they’re dropping a 12-track album of good time heavy head-bangers. Classic heavy metal with thrash and speed sensibilities, The Bloodening is an album filled with energy, dirty groove and thumping heaviness.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“For everyone who loves good old classic heavy metal, the new record by BLOODY HELL is perfect.” – Metal.de

“BLOODY HELL are sure to ensure a good time for the pandemic-isolated Metaler” – Stormbringer

“The Bloodening is definitely something perfect to blast, whether the pandemic is ruling everyone’s life or not. It is also a great excuse to enjoy some rum or bourbon when it cannot be done in a company – because drinking to Metal, even by oneself, is not drinking, it is keeping oneself alive.” – Metal Express Radio

“Bloody Hell have struck a solid formula for the creation and delivery of their brand of heavy metal. Keeping it simple in terms of sonic display and lyrical content. Incorporating themes and techniques of their influences while ensuring their own stamp is prominent… it does put a massive grin on your face. When all is said and done, isn’t that the point of metal.” – Uber Rock

“Twelve songs in this new album opened by anthemic groovy metal of HANGOVER RIDER, enriched by an embracing riffing, and FACE IN HELL, with its metallized heavy rock.” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal

Ottawa’s As We Suffer will be releasing their debut album “The Fallen Pillars” on Friday, April 30th and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with New Noise Magazine for its full stream premiere HERE.

As We Suffer is an amalgamation of several heavy subgenres rolled into one. Hovering between metalcore, punk, hardcore, groove metal, and a tinge of melodic hard rock, the band takes listeners on a journey through each track. The track listing for the album was selected with diversity in mind, with each song standing out in contrast to the last.

The concept album’s theme revolves around the pillars of truth. Each song deals with destructive concepts and beliefs that we, as a society/people, should not prop up as truths. It is an experience of unhealthy and damaging thoughts/emotions that explore existentialism, politics, religious fanaticism, and truth through different styles of heavy music.

“This is our first full-length album and we’re excited to bring every single track on it to the masses. We are all influenced by various styles of metal and rock and we wanted to give an accurate portrayal of ourselves to fans. From the djent/metalcore feel of the album title track ‘The Fallen Pillars’ to the groove metal of ‘Concrete Fist’ to the hardcore catchy vibe of Shadows Caste in White to the absolute balls-to-the-wall brutality of Malicious Compliance. Overall, we hope enjoy it!”

As We Suffer‘s debut album “The Fallen Pillars” will be available as of April 30, 2021, and recommended for fans of Killswitch Engage, Propagandhi, and Death by Stereo.

About:
Ottawa, Canada’s As We Suffer started out as a cover band, but quickly delved into writing original material. In the early days they focused on a more metal-infused skate punk vibe with major influence stemming from Pennywise, Strung Out, and NOFX but it very quickly took on a more metal feel. Since 2020, the sound has further morphed into a more metalcore vibe along the lines of early Killswitch Engage and Bullet for my Valentine, while still maintaining a distinct hardcore style.

Four of the original band members have known each other for a long time, with two of the members, vocalist Matt Caldwell and bassist Ryan Caldwell being cousins; together with their long-time friends drummer Chris Nunn and Jason Yocom. The band officially established in 2018 picking a name that represents unity in the existential suffering we all experience. Eventually, they were joined by guitarist Derik Roblin.

The long time comradery between the members enables them to write music organically, trading off who is the primary songwriter for each track. All lyrics are written by M. Caldwell, who aims to tell a story and deliver a message without being too literal or specific, allowing the audience to interpret on their own. Themes are largely infused with existentialism, civil and political unrest.

This organic flow continues to benefit the band when they play, the passionate stage presence is heightened by M. Caldwell’s intensity, R. Caldwell’s slick bass licks, Roblin’s powerful energy, and Nunn’s technical prowess. They bring a unique back-to-basics flavor to each performance, especially through the dynamic nature of each of the band members.

As We Suffer released a demo in 2018 and will follow it up with “The Fallen Pillars” on April 30, 2021.

“Ottawa’s As We Suffer are entering new territory with their new song, “The Fallen Pillars”. The title track off the band’s upcoming debut album (due out in April), it’s a blender of different metal and hardcore subgenres. Everything from groove metal to metalcore influences are prominent in the new track, with powerful vocals that help the band’s accessibility.” – New Fury Media

“AS WE SUFFER infuse anthemic heavy metal vibe into their metalcore / hardcore spine with new track “Invade The Host”” – IDIOTEQ

A little metalcore, a little bit hardcore, a little bit groove… but a hell of a head-banging heavy metal album, As We Suffer bring blistering intensity on the opening pairing of Caustic Paradigm and Malicious Compliance. Tracks that are perfect for opening up a big pit of sweating bodies and neck-breaking behaviour. The former has the speed while the latter has the kick-ass groove.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Their energetic brand of metal will interest fans of the mainstream metalcore/ hardcore of the 00’s such as Bullet for My Valentine, and early Killswitch Engage.. a fun and energetic debut, and I hope soon to be able to experience it live.” – The Independent Voice

“Today’s Song of The Day is The Fallen Pillars by As We Suffer. As We Suffer is a Hardcore/Punk/metal band from Ottawa and The Fallen Pillars is the title track off their upcoming debut album, set to release in April of 2021. It’s the most melodic song on the album, but doesn’t sacrifice heavy as it includes a djent vibe, along with aggressive riffs. As We Suffer play with pure passion, which echoes out clearly through their music.” – Dropout Entertainment

“The sound of the album is great throughout and perfectly adapted to the selected spectrum of effects of the music. Vocalist Matt Caldwell has the right style for every part and is really a great singer who can cover many areas, which is probably one of the biggest pluses.” – Schwermetallvergiftung

Don Dewulf is the creative mind behind The Wring, a musical adventure chock full of proggy riffs, angry lyrics, and a heavy dose of melody. He is releasing a second album this year, “The Wring² Project Cipher” that boasts the work of several seasoned, professional musicians, making this one of the top albums prog fans are going to want this year.

Dewulf is the sole songwriter of the project and he takes up guitar duties, but the album wouldn’t have come together without help from drummer Thomas Lang, vocalist Marc Bonilla, bassist Bryan Beller as well as bassist Jason Henrie who also played on The Wring’s first album. Guitarist Jason Sadites rounds out the line-up, playing a killer solo on one track. This incredible depth of players brings to life an album that has enough proggy stuff for the geeks, but still plenty of melodies and rock riffery for the regular heavy music listener.

Today, The Wring shares a playthrough video for the single “Cipher”, which captures the whole band performing the song from their personal home studios. A combination homage to Ruh’s “YYZ” and Mastodon’s “March of the Fire Ants”, the track is the only instrumental featured on the full length.

About:
The Wring is a progressive rock project created in 2015 by guitarist Don Dewulf who had compiled a large inventory of compositions that he had fully demoed, just needing players to turn the demos into songs.  The project started out in a band format with local musicians and they released a debut self-titled album in 2017.

After a series of live dates sharing stages with Anvil, Diamond Head, and Dead Daisies, the band dissolved.  A chance conversation with Mikael Akerfeldt inspired Dewulf to forge ahead with new material, re-connecting with bassist Jason Henrie and engaging world-renowned musicians to perform, bringing the new songs to another level.

The result of that was “The Wring 2 – Project Cipher” releasing in 2021, which will feature album guests Bryan Beller (Joe Satriani, The Aristocrats, Dethklok, Steve Vai), Thomas Lang (Robert Fripp, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Williams), Jason Henrie, and Jason Sadites.

Always starting with a riff, Dewulf builds compositions that showcase his signature blend of classic heavy rock meets prog. The lyrics come after the music is done and are usually a targeted response to an interaction that has sparked anger. The translation of emotion into words is subtle, often belying the more aggressive undertones. Expect more from Dewulf with The Wring3 already in the recording stage!
