NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 10, 2021

Rockshots Records – EXTREMA Announces “Headbanging Party UK Tour 2021” w/ DIE KUR, THE HERETIC ORDER

Italian metal titans EXTREMA have scheduled a 5-date UK tour of England during the last week of November (details below).

Extrema guitarist and founding member Tommy Massara said, “After a long inactive period forced upon us by Mr Covid, we thought it would be a great idea to connect with Metal fans, and what better way to do that than some intimate club venues!”

From its humble beginning in Milan back in the mid-1980s, the band has since then toured and shared the stage with the like of Metallica, Motörhead, Death Angel, Korn, Megadeth, and Slayer. Extrema fuse Bay Area Thrash sonorities with Motörhead-like undiluted power.

DIE KUR is based in London and through the course of 5 studio albums, they have built a reputation as a point of reference in Industrial Metal. The band’s music is unpredictable, dark, intense, and heavy as fuck.

THE HERETIC ORDER describes themselves as a ‘Classic Metal band for the modern age’. The band’s live shows are infamous for their horror-themed imagery. Imagine King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Sabaton and Black Sabbath converging on the same stage…..that’s roughly what you should expect from The Heretic Order. Check out “Evil Rising” – the most recent full-length from The Heretic Order, released by Massacre Records in 2018.

With such a powerful and exceptional bill, Headbanging Party UK Tour is going to be unmissable!

Dates:
24th November  – ‘The Musician’ (Leicester)
25th November  – ‘Doctor Browns’ (Middlesbrough)
26th November  – ‘The Fenton (Leeds)
27th November  –  ‘The Giffard Arms’ (Wolverhampton)
28th November – ‘Electrowerkz’ (London)

DEPLETED URANIUM Fuse Math Metal And Power Violence In “Alpha Particles” Off “Origins” Out January 28th

Track Premiere via IDIOTEQ

Top Clockwise: Corey (Bass), Nick (Drums), Murray (Guitar, Vocals), Babak (Vocals)

Canada’s Depleted Uranium is gearing up to release their album “Origins” and the first look is the track “Alpha Particles”. The single is the first of two parts, the latter being released next month.

Material for “Origins” was written ten years ago when the band first got together, it is a history of who they are and where they come from and it is meant to be listened to in reference to their self titled debut release, to give further perspective, the band explains the single:

“Alpha Particles was an early abomination from within the first four rehearsals as Depleted Uranium, prior to having a bass player. It was the song that defined us at that time and instantly became a favourite to play live and at rehearsal. It was also our first 5/4 time in a song, which aided future songwriting and it evolved our dual vocals, which are existential and abstract.”

Throughout “Origins”, both the lyrics and the music hold a high tension and are expressed without hesitation. They are embodied with existential yet direct meaning. As a whole, the album is a statement of youth being dissatisfied with the existing conditions of reality and channeling their experience into what it is today. The resounding message from Depleted Uranium is to strive for personal freedom and to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t. This album is a path out for all of them.

Technical and confident, “Origins” is recommended for fans of Converge, Charles Bronson and Dillinger Escape Plan.

“Alpha Particles” can be heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

The album will be out on January 28, 2022 with the physical CD including an exclusive bonus track.

0 Rockshots Records – Greek Heavy Metal THIRTY FATES Share New Single “Be Free” ft. Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens, New Album “Circus Black” Out December 10th

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 5, 2021

Rockshots Records – Greek Heavy Metal THIRTY FATES Share New Single “Be Free” ft. Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens

New Album “Circus Black” Out December 10th

Rockshots Records will be releasing Greece’s Thirty Fates‘ new album “Circus Black” on December 10th, 2021. The upcoming full-length is a 9 track anniversary record to celebrate the trio consisting of brothers Elias and Nick Tzintzilonis and Stelios Papakostas thirty years in heavy metal as friends and bandmates.

In preview to the record’s release, the band is sharing their third single “Be Free” featuring guest vocals from Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens.

“The guest appearance of Tim Ripper Owens, with crushing vocals makes the song flairs to priest alike, and we are happy he found it great. Freedom translated in different ways to each other, there are many ways to be free, but you must find the one way to be free yourself.” adds the band.

Listen to “Be Free ft. Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens” at https://spoti.fi/3GL7Kzs

The history of Thirty Fates begins in 1988 when they introduced themselves to the world in a band named Metal Invaders, which was soon changed to Black Fate. Under that moniker, they released a 4-track demo (1991), but soon after Elias (guitars) continued on to other various bands. Stelios (vocals) went on to a solo pop career releasing singles and touring all around Greece, along with forming the band Blow. Nick (drums) went on to other rock-heavy-pop bands, touring also as a freelancer and continuing on with Black Fate with four amazing musicians, where they released a self-titled EP (2001) and four full-lengths “Uncover” (2002) (Secret Port Records), “Deliverance of Soul” (2009) (Asiral), Between Visions & Lies (2014) (Ulterium Records) and “Ithaca” (2020) (Rockshots Records).

The trio of Thirty Fates explain how their reunion came to be:

“We felt the need to reform the band after so long time for our thirst of playing music together again. It came out spontaneously when we met each other five years ago, rehearsing the old staff reminiscing the good old times. Then we decided to re-record our first demo and some spare old songs, as we had all the efforts for making a record come to life. Seemed from the beginning we knew what exactly we wanted to do. Making music after so long, was a joyful ride from the past to the present & we really enjoyed it. For all our friends & loyal fans, who have followed for thirty years & also for our new friends. We hope you enjoy our music. It’s worth a listen.”

“Circus Black” is nine tracks of classic melodic heavy metal, with four tracks (Indifferent People, The Edge of Destiny, Be Free, The Pretender) from their 1991 demo, two unreleased tracks from the ’80s, and three tracks from Black Fate’s 2001’s rare ep along with a brand-new song. The album is for those who truly enjoy 80’s classic heavy metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Queensryche, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne.

“This did not happen on purpose, but if you follow the track listing, it’ll feel like a concept album. From the circus visual till the last song, it represents the simple human needs, the ways someone searching himself, how intensifies himself in the society trying to find substance. For sure this belongs to the metal community.” adds the band.

Thirty Fates‘ new album “Circus Black” is due out December 10th via Rockshots Records.

0 Breakdowns and Synthwave Collide On EVERY HOUR KILLS’ Collaboration w/ Chris Wiseman (Shadow of Intent) On “Tenebrous”, New EP “Vacua” Out Now!

  • November 5, 2021

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 5, 2021

For fans of Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, Periphery, Erra, Spiritbox

Breakdowns and Synthwave Collide On EVERY HOUR KILLS’ Collaboration w/ Chris Wiseman (Shadow of Intent) On  “Tenebrous”

New EP “Vacua” Out Now!

EP Guests:
Calle Thomer (Vildhjarta, Humanity’s Last Breath),
Chris Wiseman (Currents, Shadow of Intent)

Every Hour Kills has always had a mission to challenge the status quo when it comes to metal genres and this newest iteration from the group is highlighted with the most divergent single “Tenebrous” from their latest EP “Vacua”.

The single breaches the borders of genres with elements of synthwave and clean vocals in the verses crossed with heavy chugs and breakdowns. The music is written mainly by guitarist Sascha Laskow which is further molded by the other members with the lyrics written by vocalists Jei Doublerice and Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster. The band comments on the single:

“This was another collaboration with Chris Wiseman (Currents, Shadow of Intent), although I changed the verses to be more of a synth-driven throwback to previous EHK material. Jerrod came in here to add some new wave crooning as a contrast to the crushing low tuned riffs and dissonance that permeate the rest of the track.”

With the new songs presented on the EP; they’ve obviously become a lot heavier, darker, and introduced the harsh vocals element as a more regular focus. This is just an honest expression of the emotions everyone has gone through in the last year.

Influenced primarily by progressive, djent and cinematic music, members of Every Hour Kills have opened for bands such Godsmack, Apocalyptica, and Trivium, however, they are currently an internet-only project, and no live appearances are planned.

Every Hour Kills is best described as melodic, dark, and cinematic, progressive juxtaposing angular heaviness with soaring melody. They are suggested listening for fans of Periphery, Vildhjarta, and Spiritbox.

The visualizer for “Tenebrous” can be heard and watched at https://youtu.be/Qt9ENh5meIc

“Vacua” is available for stream and download on all digital platforms at https://everyhourkills.com/ig/

About:
“Every hour wounds, but the last one kills” – Anonymous

Every Hour Kills is a rotating collective ensemble featuring the core of ex-Divinity / Enditol guitarist and producer Sacha Laskow, bassist Brent Stutsky (ex-Breach of Trust), along with vocalists Jei Doublerice (Despite Exile, Abiogenesis) and Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster (ex-Out of Your Mouth).

Every Hour Kills was built to challenge the idea of what defines a “band”. Rather, the group sees itself as a constantly evolving musical collective; guest vocalists and soloists across the songs bring their own unique artistry and elevate the collective impact of Every Hour Kills’ brand. The lyrics, artwork, visuals, and themes all look toward the future, asking the key postmodern question of how will emerging technology and our humanity progress and co-exist?

0 Toronto’s SUN BELOW Paint A Fuzzy, Sativa Infused Soundscape Through “Twin Worlds Pt. 1 and Pt. 2”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 4, 2021

Sun Below Paint A Fuzzy, Sativa Infused Soundscape Through “Twin Worlds Pt. 1 and Pt. 2”

Self-Titled Album Out Nov 19th

Toronto’s Sun Below continues their story with their second single – “Twin Worlds Pt. 1 and Pt. 2”, a double track with a running time of 18 minutes. The overarching plot throughout the album follows a figure known as the Holy Drifter, and in this single, the protagonist encounters himself in an alternate timeline. This wild and detailed story is accompanied by fuzzy guitars, crashing drums, and layers of vocals. The band explains the track in detail:

“By this part in the album’s story, the Drifter has grown fatigued with his lack of understanding of his visions and decides to scale the Chronwall to the peak of his mountain shrine. There, he commences a ritual that creates a rift in space-time, and through the newly created void looming above him, he encounters a future version of himself in the distant future. Through a telepathic link established between them, the Drifter learns that many years from now, the sun is threatening to imminently burn out in the future, and the future Drifter decides to impart this knowledge of impending doom, as well as an enhanced strain of the Sativa herb, to his younger counterpart. Musically, it is the most ambitious track on the record in length and in scope, as it combines groove with the crushing weight of impending doom as well as spaced out vocals which themselves seem to echo across time.”

The self-titled album has a running time of an hour and ten minutes. It was self-produced, mixed by Will Adams (drums), engineered by Farmer Jesse, recorded at Rival Sound Studios and the album artwork was done by Adam C Design and Illustration.

According to Sun Below, anyone who has been following them through their previous releases will see this record as the final destination on the holy path they have traversed. The concepts and themes present in their past work have now come together fully formed after years of practice.

Fans of big riffs, fuzzed-out guitars, crushing drums, and driving bass will not be disappointed in this record especially those with an interest in Sleep, Electric Wizard, and Red Fang.

“Twin Worlds Pt. 1 and Pt. 2” can be heard at https://youtu.be/_cMX_LvaM-Q

First single “Chronwall Neanderthal” can be heard at https://youtu.be/fYoCDrTA9Sc

About:
Sun Below is a heavy stoner/doom power trio from Toronto. Playing a signature brand of self-described Sativa rock, a combination of fuzz, volume, and heavy grooves, Sun Below seeks to spread their infectious, rollicking sound to the masses.

Starting as a humble seedling in 2018, the trio formed with a desire to create heavy rock with stoner/doom elements in a groovy Sabbath style, and through constant improvisation, the material is grown organically first with the music and then with the lyrics.

Engaging, extended tracks compiled with a crushing amount of volume touch on topics including cannabis, the occult, Lovecraft, unexplained occurrences, the infiniteness of space and the Holy Drifter. Even at length, each track is an exceptional sonic journey through space and time. Inviting their listeners to get into the groove and the headspace of the music, Sun Below is the perfect combination of a mellow trip with an energetic Sativa boost.

The trio of Jason Craig (guitars/vocals), Garrison Thordarson (bass/backing vocals) and Will Adams (drums/backing vocals) specialize in loose, long burning jams that worship at the altar of tone, riffs, and smoke, but also brim with raw bombastic heavy metal rock to keep the energy up high. Smoke up, tune down, play loud, burnout.

Still relatively new, but reaching towards the light and maturation, Sun Below have been hard at work sharing the stage with the likes of Black Mastiff and Chron Goblin; releasing three EPs: Black Volume EP (2018); Black Volume EP II (2019); Black Volume EP III (2019) and a music video into the haze. With a new stoner sun set to rise in 2021, the power trio will release their first full-length debut on November 19th to keep the fuzzy momentum going.

Self-coined as “One-Man Nerdy’n’Dirty Black Metal”, over the past year and a half, the ever intrepid Mike Redston aka Snakeblade has written, performed, and recorded two albums, “The Kingdom” in 2020 and “The Curse” in 2021. “The Curse” is quite an evolution, growing in both complexity and scale with the addition of a session drummer to handle the kit. Mike Redston formed the solo project in the midst of the pandemic, as a distraction. To deepen the escape, all his lyrics surrounded fantasy concepts from his favorite series – Game of Thrones.

“Snakeblade is where all my nerdiness gets released. On “The Curse”, I wanted to zero in on one of my all-time favorite fantasy series – Game of Thrones. As I started writing though, more personal experiences started to creep into my lyrics. What came out is a melting pot of themes from Game of Thrones and my personal shit. Lyrics inspired by GOT mostly revolve around the plotlines of The Red Woman, Stannis Baratheon, and The Lord of Light religion. Mix all this with my own experiences of betrayal, failure, and rage and you’ve got The Curse.”

“The Curse” is ten tracks of dark, dirty, and epic non-traditional black metal, and has a total running time of 43 minutes. It was written and performed by Redston except for the drums, which were performed by Dennis Kraakman. The album artwork was done by Elizabeth Holmes.

Snakeblade isn’t destined to be a studio project forever, Redston says, “Live shows are definitely in the cards as I want to bring these songs to a concert setting with a ton of energy and a fun atmosphere.”

Snakeblade embraces a wide variety of metal subgenres and is recommended for fans of Skeletonwitch, Dimmu Borgir, and Death.

About:
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Snakeblade was formed by Mike Redston as an escapist project while the entire world was quarantined. What came out of this anxious time may surprise you though, as Snakeblade refuses to follow typical one-man black metal trends. Every song on their debut album The Kingdom explodes with energy and youthful rage, delivering a pummelling of riffs, blastbeats, and shrieking vocals. With lyrical topics of fantasy, medieval battles, lord of the rings, and video games, Snakeblade is a headbanging nerd’s wet dream. Now on their second effort, the one-man project delves into bold new territory adding orchestral and electro elements to the blackened thrashy chaos that is: The Curse.

Discography:

2021 – The Curse

“intense shrieks, murderous riffs, and all the fantasy black metal you need!” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“This new song (The Red Mage’s Seduction) is a wild but multi-faceted thrill-ride. A burst of jolting riffage launches the track, and as it grows more feverish it provokes a long, throat-ruining scream. The drums (performed by session drummer Dennis Kraakman) hammer and spit like machine guns as the bass bubbles and the guitar writhes in flames. There are chilling moments when slashing chords, slithering arpeggios, and flickering spectral solos sound like magic spells cast in sound by a viciously demented sorceror and the vocals descend into monstrous croaking growls, only to have the song erupt again in chaotic incendiary gales. The song’s feeling of magical mystery and ominous peril emerges again and rises to towering heights, elevated by grand synths and gigantic booms. Once there, an extravagant extended guitar solo lights the listener’s nerve endings on fire without relinquishing the music’s aura of sorcery run amok. The song slashes and burns again, with the elaborate layering of guitars, tumultuous percussion, and slaughtering screams creating an ecstatic finale.” – No Clean Singing

“This one man black metal project from Canada, spearheaded by Mike Redston, wastes no time in pushing the pedal to the metal and letting it all go. No, seriously; the very first track on his new album, The Kingdom, has an insanely flamboyant and satisfying guitar solo, breakneck drums, and vocal shrieks aplenty.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“Snakeblade Goes Beyond Black Metal Trappings on ‘The Kingdom'” – Exclaim!

“It’s safe to say that Snakeblade’s musical genius will quickly outgrow Redston’s one-man credo, for other musicians will surely seek out his vision. That he has crafted such venomous metal that is still wildly entertaining during this pandemic is a huge accomplishment, and The Kingdom will appeal to fans of this black metal style, particularly followers of Mayhem, Borknagar and classic Slayer.” – Exclaim!

“This is absolutely my jam, and The Kingdom is one of my favorite albums of the year so far.” – Toilet ov Hell

“I am compelled to say that SNAKEBLADE most definitely delivered an utmost maddening, but enjoyably entertaining discovery that made me replay this …pretty much all day long. “The Kingdom” is an addicting spin that will blow brains & shatter windows with explosive clarity. Full of density, technical prowess & engaging captivation. This is an incredibly amazing debut album, and I will most look forward to their upcoming projects. And for a singular writing attempt, bravo! I couldn’t help but score this as a masterful piece of other-worldly malevolence which most certainly deserves a slot in your collection for sure. Check it out!” – Metal Temple

Never one to stay within the constraints of genre definition, Varius have a new EP coming November 5th, and before it officially drops, its full stream is being premiered over on MetalInsider HERE.

“Concordance” is all about both diversity and consistency. Varius was motivated to include four distinct tracks with each one primarily written by a different band member. The result was a naturally diverse EP that can still be considered their most collaborative release to date. They share their thoughts on the record:

“We are very excited to present our new EP, the strongest Varius release to date. The result is an EP defined by both its diversity and its consistency in spirit. We were all very motivated to bring each others’ visions to life, and the tracks came together as some of our heaviest and grooviest to date. Each of the four songs are rooted firmly in their own area of the metal spectrum, and they are as varied lyrically as they are musically. “Concordance” explores themes of battle, demonic magics, psychological challenges, and a bleak look at the future of death. We believe that all types of metal fans, and fans of fantasy and science fiction alike, are sure to find something they like about it.”

“Concordance” is a heavy recording throughout, but the four distinct songs approach the heaviness in different ways. Across the four tracks, the listener can expect to hear the influence of death metal, thrash, progressive, doom, and classic metal with experimental dynamic twists. The EP is as diverse lyrically as it is musically; fans of fiction, fantasy, horror, and humanity will find something that they like in “Concordance”. From the apocalyptic themes you’d expect from Varius in “Gut Shoveler” and “Concordance of the Legionfall” to the more reflective stories of battle in “Golden Crown” and personal struggle through “Lament of Dissonance”, the EP covers a variety of heavy lyric themes that listeners can connect to.

The experimental groove of Varius is recommended for fans of Hypocrisy, Lamb of God, and Dethklok.

“Concordance” will be available on digital music platforms on November 5th.

Bone Tower is a filthy death metal band coming from Atlantic Canada. They formed earlier this year with a defined vision – to deliver an abusive and abrasive initial offering that would be the soundtrack for the madness that has ensued on a global level over the past year and a half.

The trio of Jonas DeViller (vocals/electronics/lyrics), Sean Carroll (guitar/bass), and Michael Bowers (guitar/bass/vocals) is a seasoned one at that and they were able to quickly write and produce their debut EP “We All Will Die One Day” in two weeks. It came together as a whole very quickly and organically. They comment on the title track and punishing conclusion of the EP:

“As the namesake of the EP, you really want to make a statement. We all know you are your own worst enemy, and that’s what ‘We All Will Die One Day’ stands to shove down your throat. We’re all human, we all have shitty habits, and those practices are probably what’s gonna give us the axe one day. The 8th and final track on ‘We All Will Die One Day’ hangs around for just a measly 50 seconds (and 17 of those are sustained feedback), but packs a major punch in that short amount of time. Blistering riffs lead into a short and sweet breakdown, leaving you confused about what the heck you just listened to.”

Both sonically and lyrically, “We All Will Die One Day” represents a collective status of disarray. Challenging speed and complex rhythms serve to accelerate unfavourable emotions to the forefront of your mind. A raw and unfiltered byproduct of mental health in disarray and unfocused aggression, with no real direction on how to cope in a post-pandemic landscape.

While presented in an ugly package, these songs are a cathartic release with the intent of extinguishing deep feelings of depression and anger. Their sound is influenced most by death metal, grindcore, and hardcore and is recommended for fans of Cryptopsy, Atka, and Trap Them.

“We All Will Die One Day” can be heard in full via its exclusive premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

The EP will be available as of November 5, 2021 via No Funeral Records & Fresh Outbreak Records with pre-order at Bonetower.bandcamp.com

About:
Bone Tower got its start early in 2021, with the sole purpose of channeling built-up negative energy and creating a hectic, pissed-off sounding record. Hailing from Atlantic Canada they got straight to the point through pummeling angry death metal.

Bone Tower is the musical equivalent of the chaos ensuing globally since last year. An angry jab back at the universe for anyone who was angry and watched the world unfold with racial upheaval, conservatives and conspiracists coming out of the woodwork against Covid, economic regression with millions losing jobs, the entire world changing beneath our feet, and for the politicians who claimed to be on our side but continue to fight against the truth.

The trio of Jonas DeViller (vocals/electronics/lyrics), Sean Carroll (guitar/bass), and Michael Bowers (guitar/bass/vocals) is a seasoned one at that and they were able to quickly write and produce their debut EP ‘We All Will Die One Day’ in two weeks. It came together as a whole very quickly and organically.

This is just the start for Bone Tower, they already have a follow-up record in the works. As of now, they are mostly a recording project but they intend on eventually playing shows. When they do finally play live, it’s bound to be just as fucked up as the recording.

EP ‘We All Will Die One Day’ is due out November 5, 2021.
