Toronto Grind DEPLETED URANIUM Unleash Video “Origins” – Full Album Live Off The Floor

Toronto’s Depleted Uranium kicked off 2022 with the smashing blunt force trauma known as “Origins”. The album is a fast, aggressive journey with existential lyrics delivered with full-throttle vocals, coupled with technical melodies and harmonies that bring listeners to their bad place. It is meant to obliterate negative energy and make life a better place as everyone has something to scream for or about.

On March 6th of this year, during the end of the Covid lockdowns in Ontario, the band entered their rehearsal space to record a one-take, live-off-the-floor performance of “Origins” from beginning to end. The result is a relentless fury of demon-possessed power, unleashed after years of torment to satisfy the exodus from the hellhound cage. The spoken intro is done by Norbert Suchanek from “The Depleted Uranium Question”.

“”When we decided to record a live performance video of our album Origins (released January 28, 2022), we were still deep in a Covid lockdown. Nowadays, that seems like a distant thing of the past. However back in January 2022, nobody knew when things would actually open up. Even the video recording was delayed due to a member having Covid. The main drive behind the decision to release Origins as a live video performance was due to the lockdown and our urge to perform. As Origins is a prequel album and recorded back in 2010, this video performance is a modern version of the album with a visual representation of the band’s live performance. Alike with the album Origins, this recording was captured in one take, live off the floor with multiple cameras in a controlled environment. We wanted to capture it as raw as possible and to represent our performance aspect as opposed to the production aspect, as we put as much energy into this performance as we do all of our shows. The flame of hope seemed like a distant dream, but now everything is basically back to normal and shows are alive and well. We have been rehearsing for some local shows and working on new material which we hope to have out later this year or early next. We are happy to have the last 2 years behind us and look forward to the next 2 years in front of us!” adds the band.

The video can be viewed and heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

“Origins” is Depleted Uranium‘s history of who they are and where they come from. It is meant to be listened to in reference to their self-titled, debut release; to give a perspective that will also further be referenced in their future releases. Both lyrics and music hold a high tension and are expressed without hesitation. Both are relevant to their time and space of creation and are embodied with existential yet direct meaning. The album as a whole is a statement of youth being dissatisfied with the existing conditions of reality and channeling our experience into what it is today. “If one cannot withstand the hot glow of anger upon the discovery of a wrong, then time is wasted thinking deeply”. Depleted Uranium‘s band name, their lyrics, and their music are a product of the system with the right individuals as the recipe. Their message on Origins” is to strive for personal freedom and to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t.

Loud, technical, and confident, “Origins” is recommended for fans of Converge, Charles Bronson, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

The album was released on January 28, 2022 with the physical CD including an exclusive bonus track.

“It’s raw, dystopian, apocalyptic and there’s no way I’m the only catching vibes of Tool’s “Prison Sex” and Voivod’s “Ravenous Medicine” from the video and Orchid, old Converge, Dystopia and Combatwoundedveteran from the tune (Beta Particles) itself.” – Decibel Magazine

“The music (which could be thought of as a blending of powerviolence and math metal) genuinely sounds insane — furiously so — and yet something about the experience makes sense. Not just because it sounds like people throwing away mental shackles and conventions, but also because the music simultaneously gets its hooks in your head. There’s a sense of order and precision of execution in it, at the same time as it seems completely disruptive of order.” – No Clean Singing

“Aside from grind, you’re getting a decent dose of mathcore, but even more often, the music veers into territory that I think would appeal to screamo fans. These parts are governed by clean-ish, anguished vocals and additionally infused with melancholy by the guitar. While they do the most to define the mood of the album, I’d still hesitate to pigeonhole it, as the band pivots from style to style often enough to give the music a nicely weird, free-form feel. If you’d like a take on the post-nuclear apocalypse that isn’t filled with boring zombies and mutants, look no further.” – Toilet Ov Hell

“All in all, “Origins” pretty much kicked me in the balls and announces that here is a new force to be reckoned with in the grindcore world.” – Wormwood Chronicles

“It’s carnage but carnage you’ll want to experience over and over again.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

Toronto’s Depleted Uranium recently unleashed their new album “Origins” on January 28th. The record is a fast, aggressive journey with existential lyrics delivered with full throttle vocals, coupled with technical melodies and harmonies that bring you to your bad place. It is meant to obliterate negative energy and make life a better place as everyone has something to scream for or about.

Earlier this month, the band unveiled the first half of their two-part animated video story with their track “Alpha Particles” and today they continue the storytelling with its second segment “Beta Particles”.

The band adds:

“Lyrically, this song is about being socially marginalized. For whatever reason. It’s about society’s aim to “cure” those who are different. To assimilate or destroy vs accept, by any means necessary. Musically, it was born when we were starting to solidify in our song writing and the process was fairly quick. The big transition in the middle was due to our 4-track recorder eating the tape of the first demo recording and when we listened back, it made the song. Once Blair (2nd guitar) joined, it was the song which began highlighting the simplified dual guitar harmonies.”

Watch and listen to the video for “Beta Particles” via its premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

“Origins” is Depleted Uranium‘s history of who they are and where they come from. It is meant to be listened to in reference to their self-titled, debut release; to give a perspective that will also further be referenced in their future releases. “‘Origins’ is not only an impressive feat for a one take live performance, but it really has a lot of violent energy and the twenty minutes or so flies in. You sometimes find that powerviolence/grindcore can be a little one note (I know, I know, it’s kinda the point) but Depleted Uranium’s work has a lot more variety to it and isn’t merely noise for music’s sake. If you like your music ugly, visceral and yet a bit thought provoking then Depleted Uranium are going to be for you!” – The Killchain Blog

Toronto’s Depleted Uranium are blasting out a nuclear fallout of grindcore, math-metal, and power-violence with their new music video “Alpha Particles”, which is only the start of their two-part animated video story that will continue with “Beta Particles” later this month. The videos are in support of the band’s new album “Origins”, unleashed on Jan 28th of this year.

The band explains “Alpha Particles” in further detail:

“Alpha Particles was an early abomination from within the first 4 rehearsals as Depleted Uranium, prior to having a bass player. It was the song that defined us at that time and instantly became a favourite to play live and at rehearsal. It was also our first 5/4 time in a song, which aided future songwriting and it evolved our dual vocals, which are existential and abstract. First released on our 3 song demo in 2006, Alpha Particles was later recorded in Summer 2010 for the Origins recording, 1 take live off the floor.”

Watch and listen to the decay of the heaviest metal elements from “Alpha Particles” via its video premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Origins” is a fast, aggressive 20-minute journey with existential lyrics delivered with full throttle vocals, coupled with technical melodies and harmonies that bring you to your bad place. It is meant to obliterate negative energy and make life a better place as everyone has something to scream for or about.

“It has been a long time since the recording of Origins. Life, death, and everything in between have blessed and burdened us along our journey. Some say “it is not relevant” or “why not release new material”; for us, this is unreleased material and it’s part of our journey of perspective, and accompanied by the pandemic lockdown. We’ve never been a band to do what people expect, so expect us to do things differently and to not fit in as that’s part of us. That being said, we will always attempt to deliver 100% in music and writing, rehearsing and performing our music, with or without a witness as to us, our time together is sacred, meaningful, and requires sacrifice from all members to exist.” adds the band.

“Origins” is Depleted Uranium‘s history of who they are and where they come from. It is meant to be listened to in reference to their self-titled, debut release; to give a perspective that will also further be referenced in their future releases. Toronto’s Depleted Uranium are unleashing their next single “Beta Particles”. Lyrically, this song is about being socially marginalized and society’s aim to attempt to “cure” those who are different. The band continues to explain:

“It was born when we were starting to solidify in our songwriting and the process was fairly quick. The big transition in the middle was due to our 4-track recorder eating the tape of the first demo recording and when we listened back, it made the song. Once Blair (second guitar) joined, it was the song that began highlighting the simplified dual guitar harmonies. It’s a very focussed and aggressive song, both lyrically and musically. It sums up social marginalization and that the hot glow of anger upon the discovery of a wrong must be unleashed and justified, otherwise it will destroy you.”

Tackling real-life events like assimilation is something Depleted Uranium has been doing since they first got together over a decade ago. Their upcoming album “Origins” mainly consists of material from their early years, telling a history of who they are and where they come from.

“Origins” is a fast, aggressive journey with existential lyrics delivered with full throttle vocals, coupled with technical melodies and harmonies that bring you to your bad place. It is meant to obliterate negative energy and make life a better place as everyone has something to scream for or about.

Loud, fast, and aggressive, Depleted Uranium is recommended for fans of Charles Bronson, Orchid, and The Mars Volta.

“Beta Particles” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The album will be out on January 28, 2022 with the physical CD including an exclusive bonus track.

DEPLETED URANIUM Fuse Math Metal And Power Violence In “Alpha Particles” Off “Origins” Out January 28th

Track Premiere via IDIOTEQ

Top Clockwise: Corey (Bass), Nick (Drums), Murray (Guitar, Vocals), Babak (Vocals)

Canada’s Depleted Uranium is gearing up to release their album “Origins” and the first look is the track “Alpha Particles”. The single is the first of two parts, the latter being released next month.

Material for “Origins” was written ten years ago when the band first got together, it is a history of who they are and where they come from and it is meant to be listened to in reference to their self titled debut release, to give further perspective, the band explains the single:

“Alpha Particles was an early abomination from within the first four rehearsals as Depleted Uranium, prior to having a bass player. It was the song that defined us at that time and instantly became a favourite to play live and at rehearsal. It was also our first 5/4 time in a song, which aided future songwriting and it evolved our dual vocals, which are existential and abstract.”

Throughout “Origins”, both the lyrics and the music hold a high tension and are expressed without hesitation. They are embodied with existential yet direct meaning. As a whole, the album is a statement of youth being dissatisfied with the existing conditions of reality and channeling their experience into what it is today. The resounding message from Depleted Uranium is to strive for personal freedom and to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t. This album is a path out for all of them.

Technical and confident, “Origins” is recommended for fans of Converge, Charles Bronson and Dillinger Escape Plan.

“Alpha Particles” can be heard via its premiere on IDIOTEQ HERE.

The album will be out on January 28, 2022 with the physical CD including an exclusive bonus track.
