=======================================

Last year’s 2025 Canadian Battle Final took place on May 31st at Vancouver’s Rickshaw Theatre, where Hamilton, Ontario’s KILLOTINE, the Ontario regional winner, delivered a standout performance that earned them the top national title. A panel of industry judges selected KILLOTINE to represent Canada at the prestigious International Wacken Battle, held during Wacken Open Air from July 30th to August 2nd in Wacken, Germany, where over 85,000 metal fans from around the globe gathered.

Joining KILLOTINE on stage at the Canadian final were fellow regional champions: SOULTHIEF (Eastern Canada Winner – Ottawa, ON), BEYOND SUFFERING (Alberta Winner – Calgary, AB), and YEGG (British Columbia Winner – Nanaimo, BC). The event also featured a special guest headliner: Vancouver’s Arrow In The Quiver, the 2024 BC Final winner.

The national judging panel included a lineup of respected figures from the Canadian metal and music industry: Brittney Slayes (Unleash The Archers), JJ Tartaglia (Canadian Organizer of Wacken Metal Battle Canada), JJ Caithcart (Founder of SCRAPE Records and Host of Different Stages Radio), Kris Schulz (Founder of Empower Through Music and Owner of Horizon School of Music), Abelardo Mayoral (Founder and Operator of The Invisible Orange and OrangeTickets), Stan Schinners (Owner of Broken Neck Radio), Justin Dobbin (Owner and President of Main Stage Rehearsal Studios).

For the last 9 years of battles (2013-2016, 2018-2019, 2023-2025), Wacken Metal Battle Canada has hosted battles across the country to send one independent metal band to perform at the world’s largest metal festival, Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany. 2019 saw the festival celebrate its 30th anniversary, but due to COVID, the 2020 and 2021 editions were both canceled. As the metal community regains its strength, Wacken Open Air 2026 will be the 35th edition of the festival and will be held from July 29th to August 1st. The 2026 event is nearly sold out with a line-up that includes Def Leppard, Lamb Of God, In Flames, Savatage, Powerwolf, Emperor, Sepultura, and Running Wild, among others. Details here.

Wacken Metal Battle Canada is part of an international competition that sees bands from across the country battle each other for the chance to win their spot among over 55 other countries’ champions, and represent Canada in an international battle of the bands at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival: Wacken Open Air. The battles have been hosted at the festival for over a decade and give independent bands the opportunity to showcase their talents to an international audience, along with the chance to win multiple prizes.

How it works:
Participating cities will host qualifying rounds plus a city final organized by a local city concert promoter, where one band will move forward to the Canadian national final (date and city to be determined). The winner of the national final will move on to perform at the Wacken Open Air 2026 and compete against the winners of other participating countries in a final global battle. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry representatives.

About:

Since its inception in 2009 (with a brief hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong MetalFest have championed hundreds of local bands while welcoming renowned international acts to the quiet town of Armstrong, British Columbia.

Every year, metalheads from across Canada and the U.S. converge on the scenic Okanagan Valley for three days of camping and two days packed with heavy metal mayhem. Under the blazing summer sun, fans revel in live performances, wrestling spectacles, scavenger hunts, and reconnecting with their extended metal family.

Armstrong MetalFest has hosted legendary headliners like Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Nekrogoblikon, Origin, Warbringer, Fallujah, Striker, and Beyond Creation, alongside rising stars from across North America. And when the final riff fades, the festival vanishes without a trace, leaving the landscape as untouched as it was before.

West Metal Entertainment, a non-profit society, not only produces Armstrong MetalFest annually but also supports the regional music scene by organizing performances at various venues, including all-ages shows, to inspire musical passion in both youth and adults.

0 Exitus Stratagem Records – MATT MILLER Drops a Holiday Metal Rendition of Bach!

MATT MILLER Drops a Holiday Metal Rendition of Bach!

Guitarist and composer Matt Miller is closing out the year with a spirited new holiday release that blends classical elegance with high‑energy metal flair. His latest track and accompanying video, “December, Joy of Man’s Suffering in the Holiday Spirit 2025,” offer a playful reinterpretation of a classic Bach composition, transformed into a modern, riff‑driven celebration of the season.

The video, filmed with a humorous, tongue‑in‑cheek approach, features festive characters and a warm holiday atmosphere. Miller and band emphasize that the visuals are created purely in good fun and in the spirit of the season, noting that they do not claim ownership of any characters portrayed.

“This piece was all about having fun with something timeless. We wanted to take a Bach classic and give it a metal twist while keeping the holiday mood light, joyful, and a little mischievous,” says Miller.

The track showcases Miller’s signature blend of technical precision, melodic creativity, and genre‑bending experimentation. By pairing baroque‑inspired lines with modern metal textures, the release offers something fresh for fans of classical crossover, instrumental metal, and holiday music alike.

As 2025 comes to a close, the video also carries a message of gratitude and optimism. “There’s a lot to be happy about and a lot to look forward to in 2026. Eat, drink, and be merry. Cheers from all of us to all of you!” Miller shares in the video description.

“December, Joy of Man’s Suffering in the Holiday Spirit 2025” is now available to watch on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39p10iPW6SY

This past September 2025 marked Matt Miller’s first full-band album after years of performing as a solo artist. Originally conceived as an instrumental record, the album entitled “Fiber Tormentum” evolved into a full-scale concept piece with vocals and contributions from the entire lineup. Lyrically, the record tells a loose sci-fi narrative of alien invaders manipulating human DNA to enslave humanity. Musically, it blends technical death metal, power metal, progressive death, and symphonic elements into a relentless yet melodic assault.

The album artwork, created by the late Joshua Nassaru Ward (Voraath), reflects the album’s core theme: a tormented face mid-transformation, symbolizing the manipulation of human DNA. The title “Fiber Tormentum” is inspired by Roman history, the sound of a ballista’s ropes tightening before release, a metaphor for the tension and release found throughout the album.

“We set out to make the best possible record that we could and push ourselves to our best performances. We never settled and always reached higher. We explored all options and left no stone unturned. Fiber Tormentum was the most ambitious project I had ever worked on, and I wanted to make an album that not only belongs alongside the bands and songs that I hold in such high regard but also adds something new to the genre and brings something unique. A technical death metal album with clean vocals and intricate over-the-top guitars locked in step, and in those moments, they don’t back off but accelerate. If anything, it adds a hint of theatricality and makes the songs memorable, or I dare say catchy, with guitar and vocals entwined. One of the key elements of the album is its human feel. Yes, we used some modern production techniques, but this album still retains its human element while remaining focused and airtight. At the very least, this was the next step in my ever-changing musical evolution and expanding horizons, which only means that the next release will be more ambitious while providing a glimpse into our lives, because isn’t that what art is and does?” says Miller.

Recommended for fans of Necrophagist, Symphony X, Wintersun, The Faceless, and Death, “Fiber Momentum” (released Sept 12th) is available on all major platforms through Exitus Stratagem Records.

“All in all, it’s a fascinating song (Effectively Neutralized) — head-spinning and heart-palpitating but also a heavy-hitter and a conjurer of strange, sinister, and haunting visions. In other words, in the space of just five minutes it pulls off a lot of impressive feats. And the well-filmed and well-edited video for it is a perfect complement, in that it shows us how all these talented performers executed all the impressive accomplishments.” – NoCleanSinging

“Hell yeah. Holy moly canoli. Fiverr to Fiber Momentum, and that was the album. This song is Descent into Violence. Holy moly canoli, dude. Go support, Matt Miller. That was absolutely badass. Total shredding. Jordan, also a homie of mine, your drums are incredible. The new singer, Bo, I love the harsh vocals in the clean. Total is it almost the cleans almost reminded me of Queensryche meets Cannibal Corpse. It’s pretty freaking sweet. And of course, Justice always lays down the heavy bass with the beautiful bass faces. But an absolutely incredible album….Matt Miller, you could find him everywhere. He’s an incredible guitar player, one of the best guitar players of our generation. Remember, this is Fiber Tormentum courtesy of Exitus Stratagem Records. So, a huge shout-out to them as well. Matt Miller has so many more songs. If you guys like this song (Descent into Violence), believe me, this guy is an absolute shred master. Not only does he do like a ton of his own originals, he does a ton of covers, and also he’s just a shred master of all sorts. Just exactly how they say, melodic, technical, and death. But I will definitely say the big thing that stands apart about this whole song is great structure, absolutely shredding on all levels, and the vocals are just 100% one-of-a-kind. And I totally enjoyed it. Guys, I love you guys from the bottom of my heart. This has been Matt Miller with his new song, Descent into Violence. Pick up the new album on September 12, Fiber Tormentum.” – Omar Rodriguez – The Metal Mixtape – YouTube Channel

“The songs on “Fiber Tormentum” are rather good, and make for very interesting listening sessions.” – Metal Temple

“”Fiber Tormentum” is a real killer and so refreshingly creative that you can’t help but toast this previously unknown genius in awe! Cheers! 9/10″ – PowerMetal.de

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, emotive, and relentless, are words that strongly describe Decrepit Shed. The album has a lot to offer from various metal sub-genres and encompasses the best elements of technical guitar playing while still having well-written songs”. – Brave Words

“Monument of Velocity” initially had a different title and was not going to be a Matt Miller release and some of the songs were written with vocals in mind and were not going to be instrumental, however, it turned out to be the sixth of seven powerful albums in his discography. contains eight tracks full of technical and progressive metal eliciting feelings of suspense, and tension while being fun, melodic and brutally heavy. Miller’s melodic and relentless music has a wide range of influences and is recommended for fans of Jeff Loomis, Necrophagist, and Obscura.” – Rock’n’ Load

“Even though Miller’s music is instrumental, he likes to think of the guitar as a voice. Which in turn makes him ask what is the guitar saying? He is able to easily convey emotion, tone, and a story even without the use of vocals. Throughout his releases, his music has developed a more modern sound in both the music and the production. Musically the songs are more well written and a lot of the ideas he writes are being accurately represented. He is always trying to push himself as a musician and this is reflected in his discography. Influenced primarily by technical and progressive death metal with a dash of power metal and symphonic metal as well, Matt Miller’s music is recommended for fans of Obscura, Dragon Force, and Racer X” – Metal Sucks

“Mr. Miller can shred like his fingers are on fire” – Ever-Metal.com

“Matt shreds all over this album with guitar solos galore”. – Transcending the Mundane

“Soaring, crushing, ferocious, and emotive, Miller conveys a wide range of tones throughout his instrumental music. It is recommended for fans of Dragon Force, Racer X, and Jeff Loomis” – Metal-Rules

“For guitar enthusiasts, I guess it is a feast for the eyes and ears.” – Antichrist Magazine

Montreal, QC – December 23, 2025

SECRET RULE Shares New Music Video “Lost In Paradise” ft. Marco Pastorino (Temperance/Serenity)

10th Studio Album “X” Out Now!

Secret Rule releases “Lost in Paradise” today, December 23rd, 2025, on all digital platforms, accompanied by an official music video. The song represents the final release of 2025, taken from the band’s tenth studio album “X“, available since October 24th.

After a series of singles focused on inner conflict and resistance, “Lost in Paradise” shifts the emotional perspective inward. The track unfolds as a melancholic modern metal ballad, centered on the quiet realization that something once deeply familiar has been lost and on the strength required to face that absence without surrender.

Rather than dwelling in regret, the song channels loss into awareness and resolve. Its lyrics reflect on memory, distance, and emotional disconnection, capturing the fragile space between what was and what still deserves to be fought for. This tension is mirrored in the song’s progression, where restrained atmospheres gradually expand into a powerful emotional peak.

Musically, “Lost in Paradise” blends heavy yet controlled guitar work with layered arrangements and an expressive vocal interplay. The track features a triple-vocal performance by Angela Di Vincenzo, Andy Menario, and special guest Marco Pastorino, whose contribution adds a distinctive tonal depth and amplifies the song’s emotional impact without overpowering its intimate core.

“‘Lost in Paradise’ digs into the pain of irreplaceable loss but transforms it into a form of defiant hope,” explains vocalist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Producer and guitarist Andy Menario adds: “This ballad allowed us to explore vulnerability in a very direct way, letting emotion guide both the arrangement and the performance. Marco’s voice gave the song an extra layer of intensity.”

Produced, arranged, mixed, and mastered by Andy Menario, the single once again reflects Secret Rule’s fully independent creative approach. Within the broader narrative of “X“, “Lost in Paradise” stands as one of the album’s most introspective chapters, emphasizing emotional clarity over confrontation.

With this release, Secret Rule closes 2025 by reaffirming their ability to evolve through nuance as much as power, offering a song that speaks quietly but resonates deeply.

4th Studio Album “Maelstrom of Chaos” Out Now! via Morbibund Records

Canadian thrash metal force TRISKELYON has blasted into the stratosphere. The relentlessly creative project helmed by guitarist Geoff Waye (Artach, Category VI) has unveiled a ferocious metal reimagining of Peter Schilling’s “Major Tom,” accompanied by a new video showcasing guest vocals from Amanda Jackman (Category VI).

Their trademark left‑field cover approach shines again, with Amanda Jackman’s soaring voice propelling the iconic 80s synth‑pop track into the dark expanse of high‑velocity thrash.

Drawn from their fourth full-length album, “Maelstrom of Chaos,” this track is the climactic finale to a record that signals a deeper dive into savage speed and death-thrash elements, all while retaining the melodic hooks TRISKELYON is known for. Geoff Waye’s blistering compositions balance the savage speed of 80s thrash legends with complex, modern melodicism, making the project a required listen for fans of Testament, Forbidden, and Death Angel.

ALL SYSTEMS ARE GO: WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “MAJOR TOM” NOW! at https://youtu.be/3jxPAbUVK68

Formed in 2021 by guitarist Geoff Waye of the acclaimed True Metal band Category VI, Triskelyon came roaring out of the gate with their self-titled EP and landed a deal with Moribund Records for their chart-crushing debut, “Downfall” (2022). They followed with the bone-splitting “Artificial Insanity” (2023), dominating radio for six weeks, followed by the apocalyptic “Shattered Elysium” (2024). Each release bigger, faster, heavier… and now comes the ultimate Thrash onslaught “Maelstrom of Chaos”.

For “Maelstrom of Chaos,” mastermind Geoff Waye once again summons an all-star cast of metal warriors from the Canadian scene and from the global scene. Enlisting the vocal talents of guests Liv Jagrell (Liv Sin), Amanda Jackman (Category VI), James Delbridge (Lycanthro), Carolina Padrón (Tribus, Bloodrain), Dale Drew (Sea Dogs), and Pete Healey (Marshall Law, Ex Oberon), this album reigns as a true Thrash Metal masterpiece. On drums, the thunder is split between Raul Marques (Burning Torment) and Nicole Trinchero (Chaos Rising, Acroma), while bass devastation comes courtesy of Dwayne Pike (Afterforever), Rick White (Within the Realm, Exorcist), and Darrin Pope.

In true Triskelyon fashion, expect more than Thrash; this is a molten fusion of Thrash, Speed, Power, Death-Thrash, and Traditional Metal. Wild and impressive, explosive riffs, razor-sharp solos, and skull-crushing rhythms resurrect the glory of the ‘80s while forging it into something bigger, louder, and deadlier for today.

In keeping with Triskelyon‘s tradition of closing their albums with an iconic cover, this release delivers the heaviest Metal rendition of Peter Schilling’s mega-hit “Major Tom” that the world will ever hear!

“Maelstrom of Chaos” is not just an album – it’s a Thrash Metal supernova. Brace yourself.

“One of my favorite albums of the year” ~Brutally Delicious Podcast

““Hellbound Hellions” follows and is just a great tune. That scream in the beginning and I knew immediately that Pete Healey was back for another album with Waye. The last of the opening trio and it is a slayer. Killer thrash riffs and Healey’s soaring vocals and a really sick solo makes this one of my favorites on the album.4.5/5” – Metal Rules

“It’s refreshing, for once, to discover a thrash band that aren’t geared towards utter devastation but, rather, crafting a record that an audience can simply put on and vibe to. With more than forty-five minutes to work with, the band still stuck to their guns and applied songwriting that saw every minute feel earned and needed for what their performance entailed.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Waye has shown he can write in any metal style and the guys he got together to perform are world class. The production is pretty big too so, if you like Megadeth, Agent Steel, Exodus, Overkill, etc. then there will be something on here that you like. Me? I liked it all! Hopefully, Canadian metal will be taken a bit more seriously with this release.” – My Global Mind

“classical Thrash Metal tracks and many 80s vibes.” – Metal-Temple

“Heavy, pounding, in-your-face, power metal-laced thrash” – Metal Crypt

“A who’s who of musicians in the Canadian Thrash scene! Riffs and soloing are nothing short of fantastic!” – MetalNoise

“Powerful at the right point but also epic, with sharp and anthemic vocal parts” MetalHead.it

“Power-Thrash equipped with murderous riffs on a technically first-class level with changeable exciting vocal variability.” – FFM-Rock

“Minimal filler and maximum melody!” – Heavy Music HQ

“Tighter than a shark’s arsehole and shows that Triskelyon are continuing to do what they do best.” – Metal-Digest

QUEMASANTOS Unleashes New Video “Planet Vampire” – A Dark Homage To 60s Horror and Sci-Fi Cinema

L-R – Ignacio Orellana (Bass/Guitars/Drums) | Nelson Diaz (Vocals)

Quemasantos has released their new single “Planet Vampire” today on all major digital platforms worldwide, alongside the premiere of the official lyric video, now available on YouTube.

“Planet Vampire” is a dark homage to the horror and science-fiction cinema of the 1960s, films that later found a second life on late-night television during the 1980s. These shadowy, grain-filled broadcasts sent chills down the spines of unsuspecting children who secretly turned on the TV after bedtime, discovering forbidden worlds while their parents slept. That atmosphere of unease, imagination, and primal fear forms the core of the song’s identity.

The music for “Planet Vampire” was written, performed, mixed, and mastered by Ignacio Orellana, resulting in a cohesive and immersive sonic experience that is rooted in heaviness, tension, and cinematic pacing. Vocals and the conceptual vision for the track were created by Nelson Díaz, whose narrative-driven approach reinforces the song’s connection to classic horror and sci-fi storytelling. The track also features a guest lead guitar solo by Richard Pilnik, a highly respected and versatile guitarist from the Chilean metal scene, known for his work with Warpath, Vastator, and the progressive metal band Entrance.

Reflecting on the song’s origins, Ignacio Orellana explains:

“We’re finally releasing this track, which has been in the can since the very beginning. In fact, Planet Vampire was the very first song I wrote for this second incarnation of Quemasantos. As I’ve been saying over the past few months, I just wanted to focus on playing bass this time around. When I started this new phase, everything began with the bass, and from there the entire song grew around it.

Overkill, Megadeth, Judas Priest, and Accept were some of the clearest influences during the writing process, and I think that comes through in the final result. I hope everyone enjoys it. There’s a lot more music coming next year. Wishing everyone a great end to the year.”

Nelson Díaz adds perspective on the song’s conceptual roots:

“B-movie cinema from directors like Corman, Bava, or Fulci terrified me as a child. Today it can even make me laugh, but those childhood feelings are still there.”

Complementing the audio release, the official lyric video expands the song’s universe through visuals inspired by classic genre cinema, embracing grainy textures, heavy shadows, and an unsettling, retro atmosphere that mirrors the track’s dark tone.

Montreal, QC – December 19, 2025

Italian Melodic Death KARMIAN New Single “Beastmaster Of The Void”

New Album “Horror Vacui” Out March 20th, 2026

Italian melodic death metal force KARMIAN open a new and uncompromising chapter with the release of their first single, “Beastmaster of the Void”, taken from the forthcoming full-length “Horror Vacui“. The track arrives accompanied by an official visualizer published on the Rockshots Records YouTube channel.

VIDEO for “Beastmaster Of The Void”: https://youtu.be/-NhBZGSShJE

DIGITAL: https://lnk.to/PMCdGh

“Beastmaster of the Void” stands among the album’s most direct and unrelenting compositions – a surge of sharp riffing, relentless pacing, and psychological intensity. Drawing from the real-life crimes tied to the Bestie di Satana case, the song transforms adolescent alienation, obsession, and spiritual distortion into a violent descent through the existential void that defines the entire record. Here, the band channels the chaos, confusion, and moral collapse at the heart of the narrative, turning true events into stark allegory.

The single also offers a first glimpse into the conceptual breadth of “Horror Vacui“: a collection of nine songs, each inspired by a different Italian murderer, revealing how psychological emptiness, social disintegration, and spiritual vacuum mutate into violence. Rather than glorifying crime, the album examines the roots of human collapse – the internal abyss that corrodes empathy, identity, and meaning. Musically, it merges the ferocity of melodic death metal with narrative tension and introspective depth, confirming the band’s distinctive approach to extreme music.

“Horror Vacui” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Luca Cocconi and Simone Sighinolfi at Audiocore Studio, with artwork and the new Karmian logo created by Sheila Franco. All songs were written by Andrea Baraldi and Nicholas Badiali, with lyrics by Andrea Bertolazzi and arranged collectively by Karmian.

With a career stretching from their early beginnings in 2005 to their present incarnation, Karmian have become one of the most distinctive voices of Italian melodic death metal, known for merging aggression, drama, and conceptual storytelling. Their upcoming full-length marks their most mature and introspective work to date, deepening the psychological and existential focus that has defined their evolution.

For fans of: The Haunted, Kataklysm, Heaven Shall Burn, At The Gates, early Dark Tranquillity, and early In Flames.

New album “Horror Vacui” out March 20th, 2026.

BIOGRAPHY:

Originating from Modena, Italy, Karmian stands as one of the most consistent and distinctive voices in Italian melodic death metal, forging a sound that blends raw aggression, melodic nuance, and strong conceptual depth. Their music draws from the sharp-edged intensity of the Swedish tradition while embodying a uniquely Italian sense of drama, history, and emotional resonance.

The band’s earliest incarnation dates back to 2005, when founders Andrea Baraldi, Mauro Leone, and Nicholas Badiali formed a project under the name When the Storm Broke. Though the group disbanded in 2009 after several lineup changes, the experience laid the foundations for what would later become Karmian. In 2011, the founding members revived the project with the addition of vocalist Andrea Bertolazzi, giving rise to the definitive identity of the band and solidifying their path within melodic death metal.

Karmian debuted in 2012 with the EP “Ways of Death”, a conceptual release exploring psychological decline and the “ways of death” – themes that would become central to the band’s artistic identity. Years of touring across Italy and Europe further strengthened their presence within the extreme metal scene, leading to their first full-length album, “Surgere et Cadere” (2018). Rooted in historical and mythological narratives, the album recounts the struggle of the Celtic Boii tribe against the Roman Empire, showcasing the band’s lyrical ambition and intricate musicianship.

Following extensive touring, including performances with Dying Fetus, Mortuary Drape, and Venom Inc., Karmian released “Live at Slaughter Club” (2022), a testament to their intensity and authenticity on stage. After the pandemic years, the lineup evolved with the arrival of Luca Marmi (bass) and Michele Perla (guitars), marking the beginning of a darker, more elaborate creative phase.

This evolution culminates in their most ambitious work to date: the 2026 full-length “Horror Vacui”, recorded at Audiocore Studio with Luca Cocconi and Simone Sighinolfi. The album explores the psychological and existential void behind real acts of Italian murder and madness, transforming nine true-crime cases into allegorical portraits of emptiness, collapse, and human frailty. Musically, “Horror Vacui” expands the band’s soundscape through intricate dual-guitar writing, powerful rhythmic structures, and Bertolazzi’s blend of guttural intensity and narrative expressiveness.

Across their discography, Karmian have built a reputation for merging conceptual storytelling with extreme metal intensity. Whether navigating historical epics or psychological abysses, their work is defined by a commitment to exploring the deeper forces that drive human behavior – resistance, decline, obsession, and the void within. “Horror Vacui” stands as the culmination of this journey: a mature, uncompromising statement of artistic vision, philosophy, and melodic death metal identity.

Out Now! Saskatoon Groove‑Death Metal PYTHONIC Unleashes New EP “Decomposition”

Saskatoon groove‑death metal force Pythonic return with a vengeance today as they release their long‑awaited sophomore EP, “Decomposition,” a reimagining and reinvention of their earliest catalogue, rebuilt, rewritten, and reborn with the band’s heaviest lineup to date.

“When we parted with our original singer and started reworking these songs, it really sparked something in the band. These songs were always decent, but now we believe they’re great. They finally got the justice they deserved,” says guitarist and founder Vincent Kohut.

“Decomposition” marks a pivotal turning point for the band. With the addition of vocalist Morgan Warriner, bassist Max Hiske, guitarist Ryan, and drummer Jayden, Pythonic have evolved into a tighter, more aggressive, and more cohesive unit than ever before.

Morgan’s guttural range, praised for its blistering highs and cavernous lows, has transformed the band’s sound. At the same time, Max’s thunderous bass lines and Jayden’s ferocious, metal‑driven drumming have injected new life into every track.

The EP was mixed and mastered by Reid Paraszczynec of Lucid Distortion Audio, a longtime friend of the band known for his sharp ear and meticulous production style.

“He really helped bring in the next chapter of Pythonic the right way,” the band says.

Rather than simply re‑recording old material, Pythonic tore their songs apart and rebuilt them from the ground up, shortening structures, shaving riffs, tightening arrangements, and amplifying the aggression.

“We made our original tracks more digestible. Some songs got a huge facelift, others stayed close to the originals, but the difference a proper vocalist and bass performance makes is monumental,” says Kohut.

Lyrically, the EP is more focused and personal than anything Pythonic has released before. Written primarily by Warriner, with contributions from former bassist Alex Conley, the themes explore corruption, addiction, toxic relationships, betrayal, and occult horror.

The opening track, Guiltfeeder, is a furious anthem about betrayal and two-faced “friends,” sped up and sharpened from its original form. The track ends with a soaring Ryan Hunter solo that seals the emotional blow. Conceit, penned by Alex Conley, confronts narcissistic abuse head‑on. Thrash‑driven drums and a tightened recording elevate the track far beyond its earlier version. Pills is a visceral depiction of addiction, told with unsettling clarity. Morgan’s delivery captures the frantic highs and skin‑crawling lows of substance dependency. Liturgy, the band’s unanimous favourite, is a ritualistic, blood‑moon summoning set to tremolo riffs, eerie spoken word, and a crushing new chorus riff. Morgan’s highs and Vincent’s lows collide in a devastating finale. Collateral, the EP closer, is a triumphant call to reclaim autonomy, featuring one of the EP’s most infectious chants. Max’s bass absolutely dominates the intro and outro, giving the track its marching, war‑drum pulse.

The EP’s artwork, created by returning artist Danya Lawton, visually “decays” the imagery from Pythonic’s first EP. Drawing inspiration from real tree‑growing fungi and occult symbolism, the art mirrors the band’s process: decomposing old material to create something heavier, darker, and more authentic.

2025 has been a landmark year for Pythonic. The band opened for 200 Stab Wounds, YEGG, Beguiler, Art of Attrition, and closed the year on the main stage of Edmonton’s Slaughter Fest. Their live performances have been so tight that fans have mistaken them for touring acts from Toronto.

“This lineup is the tightest we’ve ever conjured. It’s an absolute sonic onslaught,” says the band.

With “Decomposition” now unleashed, Pythonic are already deep into writing new material. Fans can expect at least two more albums from the band, each pushing further into the death‑metal‑leaning, groove‑driven territory that defines their new era.

“Everyone in Pythonic is dedicated to this project. We’ve got tons of killer new tunes on the horizon,” says Kohut.

Recommended for fans of Lamb of God, Morbid Angel, Devildriver, and Black Dahlia Murder, “Decomposition” is available on digital platforms as of December 19, 2025.

About: Born in Saskatoon, SK, Pythonic is a death‑groove metal powerhouse that fuses the ferocity of Lamb of God, Black Dahlia Murder, and Cryptopsy with its own raw, uncompromising vision. Conceived by guitarist Vincent Kohut as a project free from subgenre boundaries, the band embraces the philosophy that “metal is metal.” Together with lead guitarist Ryan Hunter, Kohut carved out a sound that is aggressive, groovy, thick, and unapologetically dirty, a sonic identity that refuses to be confined. The addition of Morgan Warriner on vocals and Max Hiske on bass has solidified Pythonic’s most devastating lineup to date. Warriner’s guttural range, soaring highs, and earth‑shaking lows have been praised as transformative, while Hiske’s thunderous bass lines add depth and weight to every track. Anchored by Jayden’s relentless drumming, the band operates as a tightly locked unit, delivering a crushing live experience.

-30-

“A nice blast of heaviness to see out the year. Pythonic throw their all into delivering a memorable showcase of thrashing death metal. An EP of five tracks that shows off plenty of creativity, has moments of exciting flair, and undeniably delivers the hefty ‘one-two’ punch of death crossed with thrash metal. 8/10” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“I’m not sure why, but Canada has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to bands grafting groovy metalcore onto their sound: Neck of the Woods, Truent, Apollyon (RIP), and The Hallowed Catharsis come to mind, with Pythonic joining the ranks with their new EP. Preview tracks “Guiltfeeder” and “Liturgy” fuse punchy, hardcore drumming with melodic tremolo riffs for a sound that’s both comfortably nostalgic and aggressive enough to appease listeners who usually shun melodeath. Vocalists Morgan Warriner and Vincent Kohut trade mid-ranged barks and metalcore shrieks with aplomb (there are some impactful instances of layering as well), and there’s even a dispassionate spoken word segment (“Liturgy”) that’s equal parts Vastum weirdness and tough-guy hardcore. I cordially invite you to a clobbering when Decomposition releases this Friday.” Toilet Ov Hell

“The first thing that grabs you about this second stab in the dark from Pythonic is Warriner’s shrill screams which are as nasty as a low budget horror movie from the 1980’s but in a good way. That’s not to say he doesn’t have a death growl of course but it’s not all that deep, his preference being to shred your ear canals as he screeches like a lunatic awaiting asylum on opening gambit “Guiltfeeder“. A track with a sinister urge and classy bit of lead towards the end from Hunter, it’s something that has that classic Morbid Angel about it while there can be little doubt the band love a bit of Swedish Death Metal.” – Metal Noise

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – December 19, 2025

Out Now! Norway’s ALIEN ORCHESTRA ALIEN ORCHESTRA Unveils New EP “Under My Pale Skin”

Oslo-based cinematic metal project ALIEN ORCHESTRA unveils its new EP “Under My Pale Skin”, a deeply personal and emotionally charged release that brings together the full artistic and conceptual arc previously introduced through the singles “Inside The Worn Shell”, “The Last Horizons”, and “Svært Mysterium”.

Written in the aftermath of founder Jan “EpicAlien” Batista Mojdis’ battle with leukemia and subsequent bone marrow transplant, “Under My Pale Skin” stands as a sonic chronicle of near-death experience, recovery, and renewed purpose. The EP captures a fragile yet powerful emotional spectrum where sorrow, resilience, and hope coexist within a carefully sculpted cinematic metal framework.

Musically, Alien Orchestra blends orchestral arrangements, ambient textures, and evocative “alienscapes”, creating soundscapes that feel equally suited to introspective listening and cinematic storytelling. Each track represents a different emotional stage of the journey: from isolation and inner struggle to reflection, healing, and forward momentum.

The EP features an acclaimed lineup of collaborators, including Simen Sandnes (Evergrey, Shining, Temic) on drums and percussion and Mats Haugen (Circus Maximus) on lead guitars for “The Last Horizons”. All songs were written by EpicAlien, with production handled by Drop RMX at Downtone Studio in collaboration with EpicAlien himself, ensuring a cohesive and deeply atmospheric sound.

With “Under My Pale Skin”, Alien Orchestra further defines its identity as a studio-focused project, where ambient elements are enriched by cinematic soundscapes. The EP also serves as a tribute to those who fought similar battles and did not survive, with a particular emotional dedication to children affected by serious illness.

This release not only completes the narrative introduced by the recent singles but also lays the foundation for Alien Orchestra’s next chapter, anticipating a more expansive full-length album currently in development.

“Under My Pale Skin” is available now on all digital platforms.

ABOUT:

ALIEN ORCHESTRA is an Oslo-based cinematic metal project founded in 2014 by Jan Batista Mojdis, known artistically as EpicAlien. Initially conceived as an experimental studio act, the project quickly evolved into a unique blend of heavy metal, cinematic orchestration, ambient, and trailer music, merging the intensity of metal with the grandeur and emotion of film scores.

Alien Orchestra’s music often draws inspiration from science fiction, cosmic exploration, underwater worlds, and the vast Nordic landscapes, transforming these themes into soundscapes that feel both otherworldly and deeply human.

The project’s early releases, including the debut EP Fall of Mars and the single Dark Nordic Dramæ, established its distinctive atmosphere and storytelling approach. In 2021, EpicAlien returned to writing after a long battle with leukemia and a bone marrow transplant, channeling his experience of struggle and rebirth into a new creative cycle.

The result is the new mini album Under My Pale Skin — a deeply personal work that narrates a journey through pain, healing, and hope. Featuring renowned guests such as Mats Haugen (Circus Maximus) on guitars and Simen Sandnes (Evergrey, Shining, Temic) on drums, the EP marks a turning point where Alien Orchestra solidifies its identity as a metal-driven yet cinematic act.

As EpicAlien himself describes it, Alien Orchestra represents “the meeting point between the human spirit and the cosmic unknown — where heavy metal riffs collide with orchestral emotion and alien soundscapes.”

• Earn Points and Climb the Leaderboard: Engage by posting, reviewing, and interacting to earn points (aka ‘laps run in the circle pit’ with a ‘distance run’ stat) to ascend the competitive ranks of the leaderboard. www.thecirclepit.com/circle-pit-leaderboard/

• The Community Pit: Interact with other metalheads and share any metal music, including your own, on the front page of the website at any time! www.thecirclepit.com/activity/

• Represent your Favorite Music: Set what you’re ‘Currently Listening To,’ and it will be shown everywhere you post or claim on the website. Build your ‘Top 10 Bands’ and ‘Music Collection’ on your personal profile + more!

• Playlists: All music from The Circle Pit YouTube channel has been sorted by genre through a playlist page with additional easy access to the Spotify playlists. www.thecirclepit.com/youtube-playlists/

• Services: Beyond all the free promotion options here, it’s now easier than ever to access the variety of services we provide. This includes consideration for video launches on our YouTube / social networks (currently with 340,000+ followers combined), video production, website creation, buying album artwork directly from artists (plus potentially selling your own artwork!), and getting band logos made. www.thecirclepit.com/services/

All of that and more is now part of this interactive, immersive metal experience!

After 10+ years of blood, sweat, and mosh… The Circle Pit has really opened. Join us now and start moshing at www.thecirclepit.com.
