Gorlvsh – Wait For Me (single) (2019)

Off Upcoming Debut Album “New City Vibe”

For fans of Converge, DFA1979, Lightning Bolt

Single Release Date: April 19, 2019

Label: Self-Release (seeking label representation)

“Combining the influential sounds of Converge, Death from Above 1979 and Lightning Bolt, Montreal’s Gorlvsh (pronounced “Gore-Lush”) is dead set on adding some rowdiness and weirdness to the sonic landscape. We don’t know if they are, as they claim, “Montreal’s sickest guitar-less band,” but from what we can tell they make a hell of a racket that combines math rock angularity, crushing metallic riffs, off-kilter rhythms and a few catchy hooks in there for good measure.” – Decibel Magazine

“Blending Dillinger Escape Plan–esque angular complexity with punk snarl and groovy riffs reminiscent of Mutoid Man, Gorlvsh may not have been what the death metal/grindcore crowd at L’Esco were expecting, but they were one of the most fun and most unique local bands I’ve seen in a good while.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

Crashing out of Montreal, Canada, comes the latest in new city groove in the form of GORLVSH. This power trio hails themselves as Montreal’s Sickest Guitar-less Band, and what they lack in guitar they make up for with a tornado of crushing riffs, a dash of poppy hooks and fucked up rhythms.

They combine their technical wankery with gutter punk sensibilities to bring a bizarre, mathy, metallic hardcore-esque punk sound with inspiration from Death From Above and Lightning Bolt. This bass/drum/banshee trio works hard on their music together with Nick (bass) starting with a bag of riffs, Noah (drums) adding complexity and then Isaac (vocals) writes lyrics about whatever inspires him that day and the result is unique, sludgy, metallic hardcore that can only be GORLVSH.

Even with their DIY attitudes, the sound is produced and performed phenomenally and they write their music with the live show in mind. They want people to be excited to experience something new and in 2019, they will release their first full length album “New City Vibe”. Currently the band’s debut single “Wait For Me” is out now and available Bandcamp along with their 2017 split EP with Offset.

The Montreal based band Ghoulunatics made its name thanks to their very energetic stage presence and its own artistic signature and composition methods, resulting in a unique musical footprint that distinguishes them from the masses.

From 1994 to 2008, Ghoulunatics traveled all over Quebec and Ontario relentlessly, always putting the pedal to the metal. They made their mark on the Quebec and Canadian metal and hardcore scenes, but also garnered attention abroad. In 2004, Ghoulunatics toured Germany for the album Sabacthany. In 2006, with the release of Cryogenie, they rocked France after being signed to the label Enraged Productions, home of well-known French bands like Tagada Jones and Lofofora, etc. After 15 years of Rotten Roll, Ghoulunatics split amicably in 2008, ending with a sold-out show at Foufounes Electriques in Montreal. The group came out of retirement in 2010 to headline a food drive event. They hit the stage again in 2012 for a show at Club Soda, and have since been playing 2-3 times a year since then for special events or festivals.

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of the band as well as the return of Ghoulunatics! The group is currently working on new music for the first time since Cryogenics (2006) and will launch a single with the hopes of releasing an EP during the course of the year. Watch out! The ghouls are back!!

SHORT BIO

Thrash La Reine is a Montreal-based French heavy metal trio founded in 2017. In their music, they comprise styles of their main influences of thrash and power metal as well as paying homage to their home city and the francophone punk bands that were notorious in the Montreal scene during their college years. In each song, they mix the epic themes of power metal with the social topics of punk and thrash metal to make a style that they dubbed ‘’Epic Thrash’’.

In 2017, in their home studio, they recorded a first EP called ‘’Le Metal Est Notre Langue’’. Since then, they have opened for artists such as Judas Priestess (US) and Tim Ripper Owen (US). In 2018, a second EP ‘’La Foi, La Loi, La Croix’’ was recorded. The recording and mixing were done at Studio Wild with Pierre Rémillard (Anonymus, Cryptopsy) and mastered in the summer by Jacob Hansen in Denmark. The EP is now ready to hit mosh pits around the world with a release date on May 31, 2019.

LONG BIO

Thrash La Reine is a Montreal-based French heavy metal trio founded in 2017. Meaning ‘Thrash The Queen’ in English, they choose that name for a variety of reason including questioning the foundation of power in Western culture as well as perhaps seeing a Queen being rocked in a mosh pit. This was also the title of the first song they wrote, comprising styles of their main influences of thrash and power metal.

Aside from inspiration from classic heavy metal bands they pay homage to their home city and the francophone punk bands that were notorious in the Montreal scene during their college years. In each song, they mix the epic themes of power metal with the social topics of punk and thrash metal to make a style that they dubbed ‘’Epic Thrash’’.

Claiming to not be inventing anything, the do offer something that sounds new and fresh, especially with their exclusively French lyrics that let them share Montreal’s culture while being accessible to everyone around the world. Each song tells a story, from French Canadian culture to video game addiction to classic thrash anthems.

“FRACTURES & OUTLINES are very talented band. Their music ability is put out as if it were a parade from album start to album finish.” – Metal Temple

“‘’End Of The World’’ throws me back into my emo-phase right away. I am LOVING it! The music is very dynamic, fast and diverse. I like the clean vocals and the growls together. ‘’Echoes’’ starts with high pitched screams, and that is when I was completely sold. The chorus has an original twist to it, there is somewhat of a breakdown in the drumline when you hear ‘’ECHOES’’” – Lyrical Spell Magazine

“Try and fight your way through this album without stopping; you’ll find yourself “Defenseless.”” – PureGrainAudio

“if you are into the post hardcore scene then this album is for you!… As amazing as the album is, I’d be willing to wager that the live experience would be even better. I hope they manage to make it out to SoCal one day or even Vegas I’d love to attend one of their concerts!” – The Music Below

“Overall, Fractures & Outlines debut album provides a more than enjoyable throwback to old-school metalcore and screamo but with their more varied and melodic sound and optimistic lyrics they do add an energetic breath of fresh air to both subgenres. ” – Belgian Metal Shredder

“ce groupe a le mérite d’avoir une excellente dynamique et d’être une équipe bien liée. Ils sont charismatiques et les gars ont du plaisir sur scène, ce qui pour moi est un incontournable pour offrir un excellent show! Leur album, Defenseless sorti en mai 2019, nous transporte dans divers thèmes tous reliés à nos luttes et nos démons intérieurs. Des thèmes lourds de sens, mais amenés musicalement avec brio.” – Ondes Chocs (Live Review – FarmFest 2019)

“An interesting choice to the lineup, as the other bands were of the deathcore / melodic metal genre. However, what they lacked in genre similarity they made up for in energy. This was highlighted by their cover of Alexisonfire “This Could Be Anywhere in the World“, which I and the crowd were taken aback by. Not only did they do the cover well, but they got the crowd engaged and were eager to mosh and singalong to it.” – Splice Media Group

SHORT BIO

In the wilderness of Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada, with a fascination for astronomy, Kevin Thiessen (guitar), Daniel Airth (guitar), Colin Righton (percussion), and Ferdy Belland (bass) united to create the interplanetary, instrumental prog metal that would come to be known as Phaeton.

Since 2017, they have been working quickly as a collaborative unit, honing their skills and orchestrating an attention-focused listening experience. One drenched in joy and wonder and the emotional, visceral release that only prog-metal can deliver. And the lack of lyrical interference only allows the listener the better opportunity to let their imaginations run wild with the music, drifting emotionally away on the solar winds to wherever they wish to soar.

Phaeton can be experienced with the release of the self titled debut album out now as of December 21, 2018.

LONG BIO

Named for the theoretical proto-planet which collided with Ancient Earth during the Primordial Era, Phaeton combines technically ferocious compositions of modern metal with the ambitious song-arrangement mindset of classic prog-rock, formulating and intense and unique approach to instrumental prog-metal.

Conceptually, the idea of life itself, in all its beauty and wonder and majesty, emerging from an instant of catastrophic cosmic violence became the primary inspiration for their dramatic music birthed from the void in thrilling bursts and unexpected turns.

“If No Clean Singing had a “house band” I am fairly certain Majestic Downfall would be it (or at least a finalist)” – No Clean Singing

“The sound of these Mexicans improved in industrial proportions and this innovative and varied approach to their music, presents the extreme and melancholic detail that Doom/Death Metal left forgot long ago.” – breathlesssleep.com

“…When Dead” will be marked as a milestone in MAJESTIC DOWNFALL’s career and the band’s next works will be measured from here. I can easily see this album making it into hundreds of end of the year lists for 2015. Listen and buy “…When Dead” – Voices From The Darkside

“Majestic Downfall are the clear-cut finest death/doom band in Mexico.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Waters Of Fate is without doubt a Majestic Downfall album. You can still hear the influences of bands such as Katatonia. But the band composes their songs in a way where they do not forget where they are coming form but still find new angles. Add the great mix/master by Tore Stjerna (Necromorbus Studio) and you know they created a mighty album.”  – Lords of Metal

REGAL TIP

Majestic Downfall started as a one-man doom journey in August of 2006. The idea was to recapture the feeling of the 90s European death/doom metal scene, while mixing it with some more modern metal overtones. In 2007, MAjestic Downfall pressed its first demo titled – “The First Abyss Demo 2007” which was later released in a split with Italian black/doom metal band Ansia.

On April 6th, 2009, Majestic Downfall released its debut full-length album, “Temple of Guilt”. This time the music contained a darker edge full of sorrow and new influences from bands like Shining and Forgotten Tomb. 2011 saw the release of “The Blood Dance” album which contained 7 sorrowful passages with an even darker edge than Temple of Guilt. The “Three” album was released in 2013 and this time the sound contained even more experimentation in the music but without staying too far away from the band’s musical roots. 2015 sees the release of “…When Dead”, an album that is not only the bands most diverse output incorporating lots of influences outside doom metal, but one that also and for the first time has an important backing label.

In 2018, “Waters of Fate”, was released in 3 different continents by 3 different labels. It is mixed and mastered by Tore Stjerna (Watain, Portrait, Mayhem) at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm, Sweden and definitely more and more opportunities in all areas coming along the way for the band.

“Sludgehammer doesn’t fit neatly into the traditional death or groove metal box, as its diverse elements sets it apart from its peers… hooky riffs, catchy choruses and a perfect clean/growled vocal combination… Sludgehammer possesses loads of potential. Highly recommended!” – Bravewords

“This is how gifted SLUDGEHAMMER as a band is, even with only a demo, EP and now LP under their belts. On their own, they’re a devastating DIY metal band. With a contract in-hand, they’re gonna become unstoppable.” – Blabbermouth

““Demons From the Woodwork”. It’s a jolting, high-octane, full-throttled romp that incorporates elements of thrash, death metal, and head-slugging groove — and it’s an infectious beast that Sludgehammer have unchained.” – No Clean Singing

“Sludgehammer have a great way of infusing groove into their sound. Not nearly enough of that in death metal these days” – CJSF – Metal Meltdown

“The thing about Sludgehammer musically is they take so many different styles and mesh them together into this sound that encapsulates traditional, thrash, modern, death, and progressive metal, while creating something unique yet familiar. The excellent guitar work with hooky riffs and blazing solos matched with the heaviness and intensity was greatly appealing.” – Get Ready To Rock

“Sludgehammer is visceral and and definitely lives up to their name. With several different genres of metal at work including thrash, death, and groove, what you get is a murky and sludge filled sound that does in fact hit you like a fucking hammer upside the head.” – Cadaver Garden

“The night opened with Sludgehammer, a local band with some great art on their bass drum. When the lights went down and the crowd got ready out came the guys in this local band battering through each of their songs. Although being unfamiliar with these guys, I had to go home and find their music; Sludgehammer had the stage presence of a high end professional band. Battering away through everything they could, making jokes to the audience and having some showmanship is what we look for and although a lot of people like to skip te local bands at these shows, you would have regretted missing this band.” – Five Magics Music

“Strong metal roots are obvious, but the way they blend several styles of death, groove, thrash, and even melodic metal is impressive. Never a dull moment and it makes each song distinct from each other.” – Arte Mortifica Reviews

“Sludgehammer, a death metal band hailing from Toronto Canada, combines face-melting riffs with groveling, roaring lyrics to create a relentless, powerful sound that is all Sludgehammer’s own. It does not end there. Unlike most death metal acts, Sludgehammer has a unique groove metal sound intermixed into their songs.” – Metal Temple

“What more can I say except this is the greatest new band I have heard recently” – Eternal Terror

SHORT BIO

Since the release of their first full-length album, “The Fallen Sun”, SLUDGEHAMMER from Toronto, Canada have been riding a wave of great reviews for the record as well as their live show.

Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), SLUDGEHAMMER’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals).  By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s EP “Organ Harvester” introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.

In 2016, the LP “The Fallen Sun” was released; fast and chunky it was well received by fans and the media. Unfortunately, after the release of that album, the band parted ways with Szarota and Josh Stephney was brought on board to complete the album cycle.

With the lineup finalized, SLUDGEHAMMER hit the road and laid waste to every stage they set foot on, showing their fans that they were now stronger than ever.  After a few successful tours in support of “The Fallen Sun”, it was time to start writing the next record which will be the first to feature Stephney on vocals. SLUDGEHAMMER are preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.

LONG BIO

Originally formed in 2013 by Jeff Wilson (guitar) and Fernando Villalobos (drums), SLUDGEHAMMER’s initial lineup came together with the addition of Daniel Ayers (vocals/bass) and Christopher Szarota (vocals).  By the end of the year, they released a demo which gained considerable ground. 2014’s  EP “Organ Harvester” introduced Dan Ayers as a co-vocalist, creating a unique sound that molded Sludgehammer into the heavy and groovy band it is today.

With the release of 2016’s LP “The Fallen Sun”, they had recruited Tyler Williams on guitars, who also proved to be a great recording engineer.  With two guitar players, two vocalists and a crushing rhythm section, The Fallen Sun sounded massive and propelled SLUDGEHAMMER to a much higher plane. The album, recorded and mixed by Williams, gave SLUDGEHAMMER ultimate control over the final product, which was fast, chunky and well received by fans and the media.

Working collaboratively in the writing stages, the new material became less experimental than The Fallen Sun, with a prominent focus on writing the “sick riffs” and “heavy, versatile music” that their fans love, SLUDGEHAMMER are preparing to show their maturity by unleashing a second monstrous album “Antechamber” in 2019.

Whether on the road or in the studio, SLUDGEHAMMER delivers the goods with astounding precision and the confidence of a world-class band.  Stay tuned!

SHORT BIO

N E K E R is an Italian Southern metal project that came into being in 2013 initially as a solo project, after Neker’s (bass/vocal) departure from a now defunct metalcore band. He intended to create a sound with strong southern influences without forgetting the years spent playing and listening to genres such as post-hardcore, screamo, and metalcore.

In 2015, with the recruitment of Alessandro Eusebi (guitar) and Daniele Alessi (drums), the band was fully formed and they hit the studio to re-record the single “Sleeping Memories” with the aim to make an official video. The video was released in January 2016 and the band took to touring. Later in 2016 “Louder” was re-recorded and supported with a European tour. Having conquered several countries across Europe the band set its attention to the masses across the Atlantic as well as recording another album.

LONG BIO

N E K E R is an Italian Southern metal project that came into being in 2013 initially as a solo project, after Neker’s (bass/vocal) departure from a metalcore band called Chartise. He intended to create a sound with strong southern influences without forgetting the years spent playing and listening to genres such as post-hardcore, screamo, and metalcore.

The first demo called “Sleeping Memories” was recorded in the summer of 2013 and soon after the search for a guitarist and a drummer began with the goal to create a full band. 2 years later, in 2015, with the recruitment of Alessandro Eusebi (guitar) and Daniele Alessi (drums), the songs began to take form.

Working collaboratively, the band puts emphasis on a dirty, noisy sound with lyrics themes that explore religion, personal observations, and the state of the world. The blending of elements from a variety of genres including occasionally obscure time signatures.

The trio of musicians hit the studio to re-record the single “Sleeping Memories” with the aim to make an official video. The video was released in January 2016 and the band took to touring. Later in 2016 “Louder” was re-recorded and supported with a European tour. Having conquered several countries across Europe the band set its attention to the masses across the Atlantic as well as recording another album.

“And then there’s Gone Cosmic with their Sideways In Time album, released through Kozmik Artifactz. Set for an early April release this is some grade A, female fronted psych rock, it whirls and it winds and it wails like a hard rocking banshee on the prowl! Simply stunning!” – Stoner Hive

“It feels like an evolution of the genre” – Chris Beck – Doom Tomb

“Fresh off of announcing their signing to the Kozmik Artifactz label before the April release of their debut Sideways in Time (so bleeding bloody good, by the way), this Calgary supergroup comprised of members of Chron Goblin, Witchstone and Joplin-esque lung pummeler Abbie Thurgood, formerly of The Torchettes, are a heavy, groovy, psych-storm, headtrip. You’re welcome.” – Mike Bell – YYScene

“ It works in a spectacularly gnarly and boombastic, rifftastic, fantastic Joplin blues-rock way.” Mike Bell – YYScene

“Awakening the ears and seducing souls with an addictive pairing of folk-blues and psych-rock, Calgary’s Gone Cosmic is a band that thrives on the mix of complementary and contrasting traits that each member brings to the party. “  – Christine Leonard  – Beatroute

“The electromagnetic energy generated when Thurgood’s soaring vocals and passionate lyrical narratives are added to the compelling riffs and hypnotic pulses of the band’s instrumentation is a stunning and stimulating force to behold. “  – Christine Leonard  – Beatroute

Championed by a soaring songstress Abbie Thurgood (The Torchettes), whose boldly evocative tones recall Skunk Anansie chanteuse Skin and Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, and accompanied by an agile and aggressive psych-rock outfit, composed of guitarist Devin “Darty” Purdy (Chron Goblin), bass player Brett Whittingham (Chron Goblin), percussionist Marcello Castronuovo (Witchstone), Gone Cosmic has carved out an expansive domain that stretches from sweltering Southern sludge pits to breath-stealing sonic spacewalks.

A blood (orange)-scented breeze that bows the trees, Gone Cosmic chases the infinite haze from the skies and puts it right back in your eyes. Groove-mining breakdowns become the stuff of legend as the four pieces’ floor-thudding tail kick and hellfire halo holler originates a whole that is far more potent than the sum of its individual elements. Meet your new astromancers, the phase-shifting and hard-rocking force that channels the empyreal sounds of heaven on Earth.
