Brazil’s Rage In My Eyes Put A New Spin On Heavy Metal Classic “Aces High”

Latest Album “Ice Cell” Out Now!

The Iron Maiden classic “Aces High” has been reworked by Rage In My Eyes – their tribute to the heavy metal legends who they were an opening act for in Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2019. Their imagining of the classic is melodic, lightly proggy, and a proper homage to one of the most loved songs in metal history.

The illustrious Bruce Dickinson has one of the most recognizable voices in the genre and it’s rare that a band can do it justice – but Rage In My Eyes’ vocalist Jonathas Pozo nails the wide range and theatrics that come through the music. They do add a creative spin, adding reverb and more gang vocals to the chorus. Rage In My Eyes released their first album “Ice Cell” under that name in 2019, the first offering since a rebrand and slight shift in music. The band has recently started to blend elements of MILONGA (folk music from southern South America) to their music along with accordion, but to some of the tracks, resulting in a fresh type of music that no one has ever done before. The band quotes about the album:

“In summary, Ice Cell is a manifesto against the superficiality, inertia, coldness of the human being, his indifference, and his corruptible character. An album that seeks this sincere connection with the truth and musicality of each member, explaining their diverse influences in heavy metal and their South Brazilian and South American roots.”

Obviously recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, fans of Symphony X and Metallica will also find the new track enjoyable.

The video for “Aces High” can be watched right now on YouTube: https://youtu.be/bBSfxEksXfk

With something for everyone, “Ice Cell” was released on August 14, 2019 and available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.

About:
RAGE IN MY EYES introduces to the world a unique kind of music. Being from southern Brazil, the band shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of milonga – which is a music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – the band presents a never-heard metal before.

The band’s first album was recorded in 2017 and 2018, partially in Los Angeles and partially in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil. For 16 years the band went under the name Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scene. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the internationally acclaimed The Sniper – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – featuring guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween). Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon. With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.

RAGE IN MY EYES teamed up with some of the best professionals in the heavy metal business and delivered the head-turning debut album “Ice Cell” released in 2019.

Grenoble, France’s AVALAND welcomes fans to their symphonic and operatic metal world with their debut music video “Theater of Sorcery” featuring guest vocals from Emmanuelson of Rising Steel. . The song is the title track from their forthcoming debut album due out April 2021 via Rockshots Records. The full length was directed, written, and composed by 22-year-old prodigy Adrien G. Gzagg.

“This song is a great introduction to the world of Avaland, like a kind of hymn. It teases what’s gonna happen throughout the album, it’s an invitation for an epic and magical journey. Adam, the main character is about to share his story. The song also introduces the character The Master Of Sorcery performed by Emmanuelson (Rising Steel, Ellipsis…), who helped me a lot with this album and coached me to do my best. He is a mentor to me so it was obvious to have him as the Sorcerer who will teach Adam to control his power. He and I share a great passion for music and I’m really proud to open the Avaland story with him. For the title track’s guitar solo, I asked Ricky Marx (Now Or Never, ex-Pretty Maids), because after seeing him play with Now Or Never, I noticed something mystical in his guitar feelings that I found really cool, he’s got this old school touch that I admire. I really love the magic of his solo on this track!” adds Adrien G. Gzagg.

Enter the world of AVALAND by exploring their debut music video “Theater of Sorcery” via Rockshots Records’ YouTube channel HERE.

Spotify playlist add HERE.

Inspired by heroic fantasy, history, mythologies, and esoterism, Gzagg decided to create an epic story album with 8 characters. Entitled “Theater Of Sorcery”, the debut will be a theatrical metal adventure that tells the story of a young sorcerer Adam Wilstorm who could be the salvation of bringing back the light to the kingdom of Avaland and during his journey, he must learn to control his powers linked to the Storm.

For AVALAND, Gzagg reunited with four musician friends Camille Souffron (Bass), Christophe Feutrier (Guitars), Lucas Martinez (Guitars), and Léo Mouchonay (Drums) that he has performed with in the past to help him to record the metal opera’s debut full-length. The record also includes talented guests for vocals and guitars with Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear), Zak Stevens (Savatage/TSO), Zaher Zorgati (Myrath), Emmanuelson (Rising Steel), Stéphan Forté (Adagio), Madie (Nightmare) among many other great musicians.

Gzagg adds:

“I started my heavy metal life as a great fan of Avantasia and Ayreon. I was impressed by those big teams Tobias Sammet and Arjen Lucassen could create. I quickly knew I would make something like this in my life! It wasn’t easy to find musicians who were crazy enough to follow me in this adventure, and I thank them so much for their trust in this project, especially guitarist Christophe Feutrier (guitars) my partner in crime for Avaland for 5 years now.

I like to also add that Avaland is not a “classic” band, it’s a Metal-Opera and when Covid is over, I plan to take it the stage with many vocalists to perform this theatrical tale of an epic and magical story. To sum it up, Avaland is a modern-age opera to not just fans of metal, but beyond!”

The debut album “Theater of Sorcery” will be released on April 2, 2021.

Unleashing their earth-shattering album “Seismic” this past November, Vancouver’s Without Mercy has a new music video for their track “I Break The Chain” via its premiere on Decibel Magazine HERE.

“With this track, we pose the question of morality and becoming docile to the everyday routine. The chain that connects us and bounds us to a routine monotonous existence. The ignoring of atrocities just to keep the assembly line moving, ‘Don’t rock the boat’ mentality. What does it take to break from that chain and what would it look like?” adds the band.

Without Mercy’s latest behemoth features nine assaulting grooving death metal tracks that even include special guests Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy) on opening track “Thunderbird” and Chris Broderick (Act of Defiance) on “Disinfect The Soul”.

Distributed by Bloodblast Distribution (powered by Nuclear Blast), “Seismic” follows the band’s 2016 EP “Moucchido”. The vast majority of the material for “Seismic” was written and rewritten multiple times over the past four years. Honed and tightened over tours and live performances, Without Mercy were unwilling to place “filler” to enhance anything. They came at this album with the best of everything they had after their inspirations were doing the same. The band shares their thoughts on the full length:

“We are beyond stoked to have our new album “Seismic” see the light of day. This album represents 4 years of solid work ethic and unwillingness to compromise even in the slightest. We’re trying to give the listeners and fans of the band a chance to hear what tenacity can sound like. Lyrics that are an honest take on issues, riffs that have been refined over time, drum parts, and rhythms that are not standard or washed out. Even the mixing team behind it has a resume as long as your arm. We pushed ourselves in every field of this record and now that it’s here, we can relive those moments with all of you.”

For fans of Cattle Decapitation, Pantera, Meshuggah, and Decapitated, “Seismic” is available on all digital platforms HERE.

“Without Mercy’s New Album Is A Whirlwind of Sonic Punishment” – The Pit

“Right from the start (Uprooted), Without Mercy set the bar high for their extremity, aiming for something far more chaotic. The opening is a mix between the pure grind-death akin to that of Cattle Decapitation, and the math metal sound of Protest the Hero.”- Metal Injection

“pay witness (I Break The Chain) to their thrashy death metal a la Cattle Decapitation, Meshuggah and Decapitated and watch as they adorn the blast beats and breakdowns with beer guts and brogues.” – Decibel Magazine

“Overall, two elements really struck me here…one was the level of intensity, and the other the level of musicianship from the band. How they can remain unsigned is a mystery to me. They play with such a tight synergy that it’s almost like they can finish each other’s sentences before they even open their mouth.” – Metal Temple

“While the heavy metal name generator might have had something to do with what this meaty metal unit called themselves, you can’t say it doesn’t fit. Without Mercy are pretty damn *ahem* merciless and to cap that off, their new album is so aptly titled. Seismic…a relentless powerhouse that is akin to tectonic plates smashing into each other. There is no fucking mercy and it’s fucking glorious. Excuse the swearing but that’s how this album makes you feel. It makes you feel like a beast. It makes you feel capable of taking on the world. It’s chunky, it’s thick, it’s chokingly devastating and undoubtedly one to be remembered.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“A merciless Vancouver-based Death and Thrash Metal unity is ready to strike us all once again with their newest opus, representing four years of solid work ethic and unwillingness to compromise even in the slightest.” – The Headbanging Moose

“Without Mercy’s music is made for a wide audience. Seismic will please as much to pure violence lovers, as a crowd that fight following the catchy groove.” – Acta Infernalis

Prog Power RED CAIN Shares Black Metal Influenced Single “Baltic Fleet”

New Album “Kindred: Act II” Out January 22, 2021

Calgary, Canada’s progressive power gothic metal band Red Cain will be unleashing their new album “Kindred: Act II” set for digital release on January 22, 2021 with the CD physical release out via Sliptrick Records at a later date this year. The upcoming full length continues and ends the band’s storytelling of their Kindred saga.

Vocalist Evgeniy Zayarny adds:

“Ride on with us on the second half of the “Kindred” saga – this mad march toward the Sun. Experimental, aggressive, and recognizably Red Cain in its style, “Kindred: ACT II” picks up and expands on the events from our previous album, centralizing the story around the Aztec warrior Zalcoatl, ritually chosen to save his people, and trapped inside an alien pyramid to battle a hungry, unearthly Lovecraftian entity that plans to use him to be released into the world beyond its archaic prison.”

Today, the band shares their fifth single “Baltic Fleet” in support of the forthcoming album. The track is Red Cain’s foray into black metal – a genre that has shaped much of their musical backgrounds.

The band comments:

“We fall, so others can rise again”. Every war has its forgotten heroes. Within the album storyline, they come to Mstislav’s aid at a crucial time to keep the gates shut against an overwhelming enemy presence.

The most aggressive and heavy track on the album, “Baltic Fleet” was written to be a bastard child of Behemoth and Abigail Williams, with our guitarist Tyler Corbett molding our initial idea into an absolute black metal beast – that also means growls will definitely make their way into future RC songs. The track is also inspired by, and commemorative of the concept of the Unknown Soldier, “Baltic Fleet” is the battle cry of the honoured dead that gave their lives for peace. Many of our grandfathers fought in the wars of the 20th century and it is our great and humble privilege to be able to acknowledge their bravery in this small way.

We salute their sacrifice.”

“Baltic Fleet” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

“Kindred: Act II” follows Red Cain‘s 2019 album “Kindred: Act I” also unleashed via Sliptrick Records. Over the past few months of this year, they have shared four singles off the forthcoming record “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire)”, “Demons”, “Kindred” and “Varyag and The Shrike”, which can be heard below. Recommended for fans of Kamelot, Mastodon, and Amaranthe.

Described as a vehicle of “Melancholy and Rage” and born out of the emerging music scene of Alberta, Canada, 2017 YYC Awards Metal Recording of the Year winner Red Cain is a power/progressive metal project with Russian roots. With intricate songwriting, a heavy yet melodic feel reminiscent of progressive acts, and elements of Slavic myth and Russian paganism in the storytelling tradition of the cult of Veles, Red Cain champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique musical style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience.

Stated by frontman Evgeniy Zayarny as wanting to bring back the “Devil’s music” mysticism all too often missing in modern metal acts, Red Cain delivers flair, groove, and an intricate, lethal edge in their music. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Amaranthe, Alter Bridge – whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of the band is all of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy, shaken and stirred.

Red Cain released its debut self-titled EP in November 2016 to rave reviews from a variety of publications such as Dead Rhetoric, MetalUnderground, and Firewind magazine, among many others. Red Cain’s EP had the honour of winning Metal Recording of the Year at the 2017 YYC Music Awards. The band has a strong emerging fanbase around the world, being named one of the top 200 bands of 2016 by Headbangers Latinoamerica and the EP’s cover art selected as one of 2016’s 15 best by Metal Underground.

Red Cain’s first full-length album “Kindred: Act I” was released in March 2019 to a variety of excellent reviews internationally, reaching #1 on Canadian College Radio Earshot Loud charts and establishing the band as a force in the Canadian metal scene, and landing the band a distribution deal with European label Sliptrick Records. A variety of festival appearances at Loud As Hell Metal Festival, Hyperspace Metal Festival, and Canada Wacken Competition have served to cement that status. Red Cain’s music videos for “Juliet” and “Zero” have to date garnered 11 international film festival awards, including the Music Video Award at the Accolade Global Film Competition (LA).

“From the proggy goodness of album opener “Kindred”, to the blast beats of “Baltic Fleet”, to the epic closer “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire), there is something here for every fan of progressive power metal.  With this being Act II in Red Cain’s Kindred body of work, I really feel as though I entered a movie theater right in the middle of an epic saga. Each song is a journey in and of itself, but each also contributes to the overall fantastic voyage.  I will absolutely be purchasing Act I of this amazing tale and listen from start to finish, the way it was intended. Do yourself a favor and do the same!” – Metal Rules

“Overall, ‘Kindred: Act II’ is an interesting mix of styles that combine together in technical wizardry to set the backdrop for the continued tales of the warrior Zalcoatl. There’s some unexpected musical influences that bubble to the surface, particularly the liberal use of electronic elements provides a futuristic, yet gothic, element to the tales. Vocally, there’s some clear inspiration from Kamelot going on here. They’re predominantly clean, but with a wide range between high pitched and deep passages. The guitar work is pretty varied as well and at times even hits a distinctly djent groove that seems to appear out of nowhere!… Fans of Kamelot and Mastodon alike will find some common ground with ‘Kindred: Act II’ (and Act I for that matter).” – Uber Rock

Funeral Drone Duo Alexander (ft. Members of Zaum, Jealousy Mountain Duo) Share Video “Runes”

L-R – Kyle Alexander McDonald (Voices, Bass, Sub Synth) and Jörg Alexander Schneider (Drums, Percussion)

Comprised of Kyle Alexander McDonald (Voices, Bass, Sub Synth, and FX) of Canadian mantra doom band ZAUM and Jörg Alexander Schneider (Drums, Percussion) of German free jazz band Jealousy Mountain Duo, the funeral drone twosome known as Alexander have a new video to share for their track “Runes” off their debut album “I”, released this past October via Superbob Records.

“Runes” is a monstrous boundless ambient encounter, taking a listener on an over 19-minute convergence of unbiased soundscapes.

“To me, the track and the concept of Alexander symbolizes a future of humans and earth where no bounds, no cliches, no barriers exist anymore, it’s far beyond words and rhythms, metaphysical exploration where just sounds and silence exists,” adds Jörg Alexander Schneider.

The video for “Runes” can be viewed and heard via its premiere on MetalInjection HERE.

“I”, the two-track monolithic funeral drone experience is a dark and intangible descent into madness that echoes with reverberation plus drawn-out riffs and comes from the duo’s shared appreciation of experimentation and true artistic expression within music and sound.

“Fans of our other musical endeavours should find this fits quite almost as expected in a sense. No lyrics, writing is channeled directly from the fringe of the universe. Reconsider the reality of your existence, in the present moment. Allow yourself to have your perspective altered!”

Just now commencing their audiological voyage, Alexander suggests that several more experimental funeral drone albums will follow. Alexander is recommended for fans of Sunn O))), Boris, and Merzbow.

“I” is available via Superbob Records on 12” LP.

A combination of ten infectious hook-laden tracks that blends raging modern instrumentals with powerful yet clear vocals, “Duality” can be enjoyed by laidback rockers to full-on metalheads. Fans of their 2017 EP, which was more rock/hard rock-oriented will notice the band has taken a heavier path regarding the songwriting while retaining clarity in the vocals, which has become their unexpected trademark combination.

Depiction of life itself with all its uplifting and crushing moments, expressed with anger, fear, joy, and doubts, “Duality” is a deep internal exploration where two messages arise. The first one being that each story always has two sides and the second one being, that even when going through hell, hope must always prevail.

“Listening to Duality is like getting a free ticket for an intense journey into a unique universe where light and darkness combine.” adds the band.

“We’re always on the hunt for interesting new metal bands, and Canada’s Maitreya certainly qualifies. The band’s newest single, “Catalyst”, treads familiar progressive metal territory – think vocals similar to Leprous and instrumentation akin to older BTBAM – but rest assured it sounds fresh.” – New Fury Media

“Ambitious and aggressive, Canada’s Maitreya break boundaries from the beginning with Departed. Heavy, contemporary metal chords are underscored by droning, chorusing vocals, but blink and you’ll miss them as Maitreya soon change direction to a growling verse pandemonium. Their riffing is adventurous and deadly, cutting through weighty, rolling rhythms and movements.” – Jace Media

“Their musical abilities were astounding, and I believe they could have been each individually the most technically capable with their instruments of those performing that night.” – Metal Master Kingdom

“Lead-heavy, yet at the same time musically complex, Maitreya’s music is sonic baptism, taking the listener from the fire pits to the icy peaks. The band’s self-titled album weaves an intricate melodic narrative, where both headbanging metal-heavy riffs and reflective vocal lines co-exist in the vortex of sonic alchemy, presented to the listener in its raw, unfiltered elemental form.” – Dentata Music

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS

1. The band met their vocalist at a chance encounter at a grocery store because of an Intervals band t-shirt. The group existed as an instrumental project for a couple of years prior to rebranding with the addition of vocals. Guitarist Matt McCabe & Drummer Steve McMillan went out to grab some groceries when vocalist Matt Cutrara stirred up some conversation over a band t-shirt they were wearing. Not long after Matt came out to a rehearsal and the rest is history

2. All the songs on Hyper Reels are the original demo titles. After so long of calling them by those titles they just stuck.

3.  In the early years, the band learned approximately 100 cover songs to take gigs as a cover band. The process of learning rock & metal hit songs helped teach the band valuable lessons in crafting songs.

4. The rhythm section of the band all went to the same high school. The band started in 2011 as an instrumental project. The project went on hiatus while Mark was studying music abroad. The band formed as Maitreya with the addition of vocalist Matt Cutrara in 2016.

5. 2 weeks prior to the band performing at the first round of Toronto’s Wacken Metal Battle, guitarist Mark Wylie underwent surgery for oral cancer.

About The Album:
Hyper Reels is a collection of dialogues exploring parallels between human consciousness and technological advancement. The music peaks and valleys to the polarities of turbulent and serene emotions of the human psyche. Cues throughout the record reflect the integration of man and machine.

Track by track explained by the band:

1. Catalyst: Catalyst was the last song we wrote for the album and became an instant favourite. We believe it shows the full array of sounds in one song. Catalyst features signature Maitreya song devices like; riff-heavy sections, clean-ambient moments, big breakdowns, melodic lead passages, anthemic chorus vocals, a drum solo and progressive exploratory song structure. We wrote this song about Mark and his catalyzing role in bringing the band together, Mark’s dedication to the band in being able to organize various elements of writing, recording, and performance cannot be understated. In the same spirit, this is a song that has a very grateful and optimistic tone.

2. Departed: Departed keeps the energy high and is the most technically complex song on the record. Departed borrows some operatic influence and is one of the more progressive songs. The lyrical ideas stem from AI fiction such as Westworld, The Matrix, and Blade Runner, with themes of questioning consciousness and revelations about the nature of truth.

3. Radical: Radical is about a human who integrates his body and mind with technological upgrades, then regrets his decisions after the artificial intelligence takes control of his consciousness. Radical showcases our signature spin on the traditional metalcore sound. Utilizing the archetypal story of someone getting what they wish for in a more negative way than they had imagined, like a genie, or the Twilight Zone. This song has a more angry and oppressive tone to reflect the struggle of the character getting consumed by his own technological greed.

4. Summit: Summit is an exploration of the concept of spiritual value, and the way that giving time and attention to things gives them power. At times we give this power to things or concepts which do not add positivity to our lives but instead hollow and degrade our existence. Inspired by the novel American Gods by Neil Gaiman and the show of the same name. The song also touches on the themes of tradition versus postmodernism; Do we trust in the concrete past or look to the future, free from constraint?

5. Invaders: Invaders is a song questioning the place and impact of technology in our world. Do things that make life easier make us better as a whole society? Does the ability to distract ourselves from our lives with an ever-growing industry of media help us, or does it make the very things we’re distracted from grow and ultimately hinder our personal growth? Is there a way back to the way life was before, or are we stuck now with the culture of dissociation and distraction. The impact of technology has had is viscerally felt by the band, having been part of the last generation to grow up without it for the majority of childhood. No one on the planet can predict how technology will affect humanity as a whole, for the better or for the worse. Technology has been so useful in creating connection and intimacy, while also encouraging distraction and apathy. We name drop Black Mirror in this song as a snarky reference to the show that encompasses the more pessimistic side of this technological commentary.

6. Bloom: Dreams are something we all share, whether it’s a pleasant walk through a garden with a long lost friend, a surreal inversion of mundane life, or a horrific run in with an unknowable evil, we all have them at some time. As universal as dreams themselves is the wish to control these experiences. Bloom explores this idea, through the eyes of a dreamer who finds themselves tormented until they gain control. Inspired by the concept of lucid dreaming, and the imaginative power that dreams hold. Drowning in your own consciousness can be quite scary, and we try to capture some of that energy in a creative way.

7. Pilgrim: Pilgrim has one of the more broad scoped lyrics concepts in the album. It talks about social trends and the kind of philosophy which organizes our society. Our society is organized in a way that leads many to feel imprisoned and trapped within the social norms and systemic structures that exist. This song seeks to emulate both the feelings of imprisonment, as well as a more positive vision for our collective societal future.

8. Flesh Engine: The original inspiration for Flesh Engine came after seeing Meshuggah live while tripping on acid. The moshpit seemed to engulf the entire room, the band was like a mechanical engine that churned all the bodies into the room into a massive turbine. Flesh Engine is a big ol’ love letter to identity philosophy as well as a lil sprinkling of cartesian dualism. Commenting on how identity can be defined as the sum of one’s memories and experiences. The song also comments on how prevalent overthinking is and also representing negative thought spirals that are an unproductive waste of thought. The energy of the song feels frustrated, the frustration of figuring out one’s identity, as well as one’s own mind.

9. Hyper Reels: A manifesto compilation of seed messages from songs spanning our discography.

10. Iswara: Similar to Pilgrim, Iswara deals in a broad societal commentary. This time specifically reflecting on the culture of fear that exists and rules most of the world. At a time when capitalism and consumerism are dominant powers, our spiritual selves are left starving for genuine meaning and purpose. This song reflects the plight of the average soul, trying to live without fear, and focusing on the things we do have, rather than what is absent.

Maitreya (may-trey-ah)

Maitreya is a progressive-metalcore band located in Whitby, Ontario. Maitreya has been active in the Oshawa metal scene since 2016.  In the early days, they took up residency at a local pub, and they have built a solid regional following through live performance. They are currently focused on expanding their reach online.

The self-titled debut album – released August 2017 – provided the band opportunities to reach new markets across the GTA with a well-received product that sold out in off-stage sales. Maitreya showcased at Kitchener Metalfest, Wacken Metal Battle Toronto, 5/4 Fest as well as supporting the successful challenge for the Guinness World Record for Longest Concert (Stouffville, 2017). The band has leveraged their voice on stage raising funds for Sick Kids Hospital, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, and United Way Toronto.

Maitreya’s polished sound reflects the unitive chemistry and evolution of the group. With wall-of-sound, riff-heavy through-composed works, guitarists/songwriters Mark Wylie & Matt McCabe include textural and harmonic palettes to create a wide sonic soundscape in the genre. Bassist, Lyam Morrison, and drummer, Steve McMillan, carve out space for groove-centric drum and bass interplay deftly navigating metric modulations, tempo changes, and polyrhythmic maneuvers. New works feature a dramatic and theatrical approach to the delivery of Matt Cutrara’s vocal performance. The lore of futuristic/hyperreal themes in sci-fi TV shows like Black Mirror & Westworld shape thematic commentaries on the impact and aftereffects of technological integration with human consciousness.

Maitreya is a brotherhood; a collaborative expression of the human experience. The music acts as a mirror reflecting the dualistic states of nature contrasting loving, blissful, and uplifting vibrations and the dark, turbulent inertia of ones’ deepest fears. Maitreya doesn’t shy away from these emotions, instead uses them to catapult the music into expansive themes and new territories that expand the listener’s perspective of metal-genre boundaries.

Maitreya originates from Sanskrit, translating to future buddha. Through this bodhisattva character, the band anthropomorphizes metaphysical concepts, spirituality & mysticism, science fiction aspects, and entheogenic experiences present in their music.

Recording and production for the sophomore album, Hyper Reels, is currently in its completion stage and set for release in 2021.

After winning over new audiences with their acclaimed 2018 debut full-length “Age of Revolution” and touring relentlessly alongside fellow shredders such as Marty Friedman, Powerglove, and Exmortus, IMMORTAL GUARDIAN gathered in Las Vegas last year to begin recording their second album. As the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent pandemic began to ensue, each member of the band retreated to their respective hometowns. With shutdowns around the world being enforced, the band completely scrapped the record that they had been working on and were heavily inspired to write and create a new thematic record about their emotions surrounding current events.

“Psychosomatic” is a product of the extraordinary events of 2020. The result is a truly multi-national record, with guitarist/keyboardist Gabriel Guardian remaining in Las Vegas, vocalist Carlos Zema recording his vocals from his home in Brazil, new drummer Justin Piedimonte joining the band from his hometown in Montreal, Canada, and new bassist Joshua Lopez remaining in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN‘s native Texas.

The group, founded by Gabriel Guardian, whose uncanny ability to play guitar and keyboard simultaneously has been showcased on MTV’s “Amazingness” along with his unique dual-instrument covers of classics by the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera, and Guns N’ Roses have garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube and have been built upon the band’s following through multiple self-released EPs before signing with M-Theory Audio for the 2018 release of their first full-length record, “Age of Revolution”. The band has also performed live alongside some of the biggest names in metal, including Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork and Steve Vai, and in countries such as Brazil and Russia, and during high-profile performances at ESPN’s X Games, South By Southwest and the Fun Fun Fun Fest.

“Psychosomatic” is the next step in IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s evolution while still capturing the band’s exhilarating trademark melding of melodic power metal with progressive/shred tendencies.

Digital pre-save, CD and limited-edition purple vinyl pre-orders for “Psychosomatic”, which will be released by M-Theory Audio on February 12, 2021 are available now at http://smarturl.com/immortalguardian.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 12, 2020

Rockshots Records: BLUE HOUR GHOSTS New Music Video “On Black Clouds”

New Album “Due” Out February 12, 2021

Recently announcing their signing to Rockshots Records for the release of their new album “Due” on February 12, 2021,  BLUE HOUR GHOSTS are sharing the new music video for their second single “On Black Clouds”. The music video was shot and directed by talented multimedia artist and musician Snovonne Drake (Sno Drake Design & Media).

The band comments on the track and the video:

“We had the opportunity to work with an incredibly talented artist like Snovonne to realize the music video for this song. She was able to perfectly capture the mood of the single and provided an amazing visual counterpart for such an intense track. On Black Clouds was one of the last songs we completed for the record. The tune almost wrote itself after our singer Ricky came up with the draft ideas, and it just clicked right in like a missing puzzle piece for the album. We immediately found out that it worked out pretty well as a single, exposing our catchiest and most emotional side with its pop-rock and darkwave nuances. The song is a fast-paced run about how fast things go by and everything changes all of a sudden, and how ready we should be for this; the tension accumulates and then drops down in the cathartic refrain, where we let ourselves be carried away by insubstantial black clouds, foretelling a darker sky to come, rolling past present days.”

The music video for “On Black Clouds” can be viewed on YouTube.

Song Stream on Spotify.

BLUE HOUR GHOSTS’ forthcoming  “Due” is the follow up to their 2016 self-titled debut album. Teaming up once again with Giuseppe “Dualized” Bassi (session musician for Fear Factory, Grenouer, Levania, Noveria), BHG’s “Due” is their sophomore effort continuing their blend of progressive, classic, gothic metal, and alternative rock.

Taking a fresh, powerful, and intense melodic assault, “Due” depicts a wide range of soundscapes ranging from full metal aggression to soft, acoustic atmospheres, passing through infectious and catchy hooks and refrains that will enthrall any music addict, along with sophisticated layered arrangements to satisfy the most demanding palates. Throughout the 9 songs, all the ghosts hiding in the blue hour are made alive in the deep and heartfelt narration provided by both music and lyrics, offering a unique and compelling listening experience.

Keyboardist Simome Pedrazzi comments about the new album:

“With “Due” we are trying to engage new and established fans with an enjoyable, fresh, and yet sophisticated multi-level listening experience. All the nine songs offer an abundance of hooks that can stick into the ear from the first listen and remain impressed into the listener’s mind, stimulating his/her curiosity. There is no room for boredom, as within each song and throughout all the album, powerful and atmospheric sections alternate with each other in a seamless flow, thus keeping the attention high. The variety of musical colours displayed throughout the album and the extreme care we put into obtaining a lush and polished sound will allow for an extremely pleasant sonic experience.”
