Rage In My Eyes, hailing from Brazil, have an innovative new EP released this past October, “Spiral”. Now they have their new music video for the second single off the record, “Spark of Hope”, which can be viewed at https://youtu.be/VXZVtNJ2iQM
Originally going under the band name “Scelerata”, they released a handful of records and were Paul Di’Anno’s backup band for many years. It was only recently they decided to musically change their direction and name to Rage In My Eyes. This new form took hold in 2018, and the main change to the music was stepping back from the basic traditional/power metal they were used to and showcasing their culture through the inclusion of milonga, a traditional folk music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina. The expand on the new musical direction:
“The most curious thing about the band is the addition of the accordion, which is not a common instrument for Heavy Metal bands. The “Gaucho” visuals and the sound of the accordion is, without a doubt, something that separates us from other bands. Plus, the powerful and beautiful vocal tone of vocalist Jonathas Pozo is always a treat to listen to live.”
The single, “Spark Of Hope” is a folk song strongly influenced by the Gaucho culture from southern Brazil, musically and lyrically. It talks about a story during 19th century Southern Brazil, after a decade of war, two men duelled for a matter of honor. One is a rebel Lieutenant and the other, an indigenous tracker known as Missioneiro. Once they fought back to back, now they will cross blades with each other. Lurking their tragic demise, a Lady in white awaits to take them to a final journey as a new sun rises.
“Spiral” is Rage In My Eye’s second release under their new name, following the 2019 full-length “Ice Cell”. As Scelerata, they released 3 full-lengths “The Sniper” (2012), “Skeletons Domination” (2008), and “Darkness & Light” (2006).
Rage in My Eyes is technical and innovative and highly recommended for fans of Helloween, Symphony X and Iron Maiden.
The new EP is available on Rageinmyeyes.bandcamp.com, Spotify.

RAGE IN MY EYES introduces to the world a unique kind of music. Being from southern Brazil, the band shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of milonga – which is a music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – the band presents new sound to the metal genre.
The band’s first album “Ice Cell” was recorded in 2017 and 2018, partially in Los Angeles due to drummer Francis Cassol’s move to the city and partially in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil.
For 16 years the band went under the name Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scene. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the internationally acclaimed album The Sniper – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – that featured guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween).
Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon. With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.
RAGE IN MY EYES have teamed up with some of the best professionals in the heavy metal business to deliver a head-turning EP in 2021 entitled “Spiral” to follow the success of their 2019 full-length “Ice Cell”. The new EP will feature plenty of material for all different types of metal lovers. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts plus powerful yet melodic vocals.
The EP was written and made during a Covid pandemic. All band members suffered losses of loved ones during the pandemic, some directly related to Covid, some not. Also due to Covid, the band couldn’t get together in a practice room to jam the material. Each member had to work on their part separately, which was something new within the band. Plus, some songs were being written and arranged during the recording sessions, so they felt it was being made in real time. All of the above impacted the EP’s lyrics and songwriting. They like to think of this record as a way to say farewell to their dear loved ones and as a spiral of emotions that keeps coming and going during Covid times.
RAGE IN MY EYES’ new EP “Spiral” is due out October 15th, 2021.

Rage In My Eyes has been working on their second release under this name over the past year and are excited to finally bring it to fruition. “Spiral” will join the 2019 full length “Ice Cell” under this current band name, however, the musicians also released 3 full length albums “The Sniper” (2012), “Skeletons Domination” (2008) and “Darkness & Light” (2006) under the name Scelerata, which ran from 2002-2018. The band explains the new EP:
“This EP was written and made during a pandemic. All band members suffered losses of loved ones during the pandemic, some directly related to covid, some not. Also due to covid, the band couldn’t get together in a practice room to jam to the tracks. Each member had to work on their part separately, which was something new within the band. Plus, some songs were being written and arranged during the recording sessions, so we felt it was being made in real-time. All of the above impacted lyrics and the songwriting. We like to think of this EP as a way to say farewell to our dear loved ones and as a spiral of emotions that keeps coming and going.”
It’s evident that creating a journey for the listener is of utmost importance for the band; they explain that the tracklist was carefully thought out and placed in particular order and the EP is best enjoyed from beginning to end. The EP is five songs long with a total running time of under 20 minutes for a nice succinct burst of Brazilian heavy metal flavour that will leave listeners wanting more from this long-running and highly talented group of musicians.
Lightly proggy, and technically approachable, Rage In My Eyes brings a South American flair to traditional heavy metal. They are recommended for fans of Symphony X, Iron Maiden and Metallica.
The new EP is out as of October 15, 2021 and available on Rageinmyeyes.bandcamp.com, Spotify.

Brazil’s Rage In My Eyes has been busy getting another record ready for fans. “Spiral” can be expected later this year and in the meantime, the band is unleashing the first single “And Then Came The Storm”. The band sets itself apart from other metal acts by incorporating elements of Milonga (folk music from southern South America) to their music.
When asked how they expect the forthcoming EP to be received by fans, the band responds:
“There is plenty of material for all the different types of metal lovers. The EP overall sounds absurdly tight. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts, powerful yet melodic vocals. Sometimes it leans towards prog metal, sometimes to power metal, sometimes to folk metal, sometimes to traditional metal, sometimes to thrash metal, with a pinch of old school metal, like Sabbath and Dio. And it still sounds like a whole, due to how well blended it all is.”
Innovative and technical, the single “And Then Came The Storm” is the definitive power metal track off the EP. It showcases powerful riffs combined with beautiful vocal melodies, plus a halftime exciting bridge followed by an intricate instrumental section. Lyrically, this one is a story of love and farewell and borders on power ballad territory.
This is an excellent glimpse into the band that Rage In My Eyes is pivoting towards as they separate from their previous reputation under the name “Scelerata”. Formerly, they were Paul Di’Anno’s backup band for Brazilian tours and had a 16-year history as such. They released three full-lengths under that name and since the change in 2018, have released one album “Ice Cell” in 2019.
Recommended for fans of Blind Guardian, Helloween and Symphony X, Rage In My Eyes brings a new twist to classic heavy metal.

“Listening to Ice Cell is a true delight. The quality presented in this album, performed with technical excellence, is of musicians that know what they are doing. The vocal work performed by Jonathas Pozo is sure to elicit applauses from any audience.” – Rated 10/10 – Whiplash.net (Brazil)
“What is more important to you on a new Metal band? Traditional values or an innovative touch? Doesn`t matter what you`re looking for, Rage In My Eyes offers both. This is a must-have album.” – Rated 9/10 – Roadie Crew magazine (Brazil)
“Ice Cell is an album which is a hell lot of fun, there are some seriously good shredding riffs here and excellent guitar solos that trade off flawlessly with a fantastic vocal performance by Jonathas Pozo. Furthermore, this album has a memorability about it, brought partly by the milonga, that would also manage to appeal to fans of folk metal. This is an exceptionally enjoyable album.” – Powerplay Magazine (UK) – Rated 8/10
“The album consists of 11 songs that can be heard very pleasantly, has an effective songwriting and careful not to dwell on useless trappings. We feel that we don’t have an inexperienced band in front of us and it surprises me how a band of such value has not yet found a label to support them; I hope that soon someone will notice this band Rage In My Eyes and their “Ice cell” album, because they deserve much more than many others!”- All Around Metal (Italy) – Rated 4/5
“The first band to perform with an energy worthy of those who are there on stage making history and with this huge responsibility, was Rage In My Eyes. And who knows, there we have incredibly dedicated musicians who for 16 years have provided us with with Scelerata, that, coincidentally, have already been backing band for Paul Di’anno first singer to have officialy made an album with Iron Maiden. The show was a steamroller of heavy metal and fury so to speak. Although short, for obvious reasons, one could see the satisfaction of those present at seeing “the blood of his blood” on stage.” – Iron Maiden Brasil, review on the show with Iron Maiden
“It was a victorious performance and one that certainly pleased the thousands of headbangers in the house. Rage In My Eyes has plenty of baggage and experience to conquer even higher places in the competitive world market of Heavy Metal.” – Roadie Crew magazine (Brazil), review on the show with Iron Maiden

Rage In My Eyes drummer Francis Cassol is sharing his latest playthrough video for “The Core”. The track is off their latest 2019 album “Ice Cell”. The video showcases the velocity and technicality Cassol applies in this high speed fist-pumping classic metal sounding song.
Watch the playthrough video here.
Being from southern Brazil, Rage In My Eyes shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of MILONGA (folk music from southern Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina) to their music along with accordion, the band presents a distinctive brand of metal that is their own. The band’s first album “Ice Cell” was released in August 2019 and was recorded partially in Los Angeles and in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil. The album was produced by Magnus Wichmann at Magneto Studio (Brazil) and Daufembach Studio (USA). It was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the renowned Brazilian producer Adair Daufembach. The cover was designed by Tiago Masseti, who has worked with Hibria, Luis Kalil and Daydream XI. The band has also been an opening for Iron Maiden in Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2019,
The band comments about “Ice Cell”:
“In summary, Ice Cell is a manifesto against the superficiality, inertia, coldness of the human being, his indifference, and his corruptible character. An album that seeks this sincere connection with the truth and musicality of each member, explaining their diverse influences in heavy metal and their South Brazilian and South American roots.”
Prior to their new band name of Rage In My Eyes, the group spent 17 years under the moniker of Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scenario. The band had three albums released worldwide, including the acclaimed album “The Sniper” – partially recorded in Germany, at the Blind Guardian studio – that featured guest appearances from Paul DiAnno (former Iron Maiden) and Andi Deris (Helloween).
Scelerata was also Paul DiAnno’s official Brazilian backing band from 2009 to 2014, playing 50+ shows with this heavy metal icon.
With this huge background, the musicians are now aiming for the future.
Recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Helloween, and Symphony X, Rage In My Eyes brings an icy new edge to traditional power metal.
“Ice Cell” is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon.

The Iron Maiden classic “Aces High” has been reworked by Rage In My Eyes – their tribute to the heavy metal legends who they were an opening act for in Porto Alegre, Brazil in October 2019. Their imagining of the classic is melodic, lightly proggy, and a proper homage to one of the most loved songs in metal history.
The illustrious Bruce Dickinson has one of the most recognizable voices in the genre and it’s rare that a band can do it justice – but Rage In My Eyes’ vocalist Jonathas Pozo nails the wide range and theatrics that come through the music. They do add a creative spin, adding reverb and more gang vocals to the chorus. Rage In My Eyes released their first album “Ice Cell” under that name in 2019, the first offering since a rebrand and slight shift in music. The band has recently started to blend elements of MILONGA (folk music from southern South America) to their music along with accordion, but to some of the tracks, resulting in a fresh type of music that no one has ever done before. The band quotes about the album:
“In summary, Ice Cell is a manifesto against the superficiality, inertia, coldness of the human being, his indifference, and his corruptible character. An album that seeks this sincere connection with the truth and musicality of each member, explaining their diverse influences in heavy metal and their South Brazilian and South American roots.”
Obviously recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, fans of Symphony X and Metallica will also find the new track enjoyable.

Rage In My Eyes is a technically sound heavy metal act hailing from Porto Alegre, Brazil who have a new video out for the track “Winter Dream” off the 2019 album “Ice Cell”. The video was part of the band’s participation in the Roadie Crew Online Festival – 9º Edição.
“Ice Cell” is the first album by the band under their current name; the group also released three albums under Scelerata. They originally formed in 2002 and with the recent name change has altered their sound to incorporate traditional music from South America with prog and heavy metal. Along with the cultural infusion, Rage In My Eyes brings in accordion for a truly one of a kind listening experience. Vocalist Jonathas Pozo explains the conception of “Winter Dream”:
“We had already chosen Winter Dream as the opening track, which led us to address the lyric theme in order to present a little of the icy scenery of Ice Cell, imagining the aspect of our biological and chemical origin under the influence of the morphic field theory of Rupert Sheldrake, that is, considering the presence of the past as an important constituent of our subsequent choices, as humanity. At the same time bringing in this scenario landscapes that are common in southern Brazil, such as fog, frost, and sometimes even snow. It was also chosen because it is a more cadenced and heavy song (although also extremely technical and quite proggy), thus contrasting with the usual melodic and fast opening tracks in power metal albums, representing more accurately the “musical humor” of the band.”
Overall, the album can be summed up as ‘tight’. It has great guitar riffs, fast drum parts, intricate instrumental parts, and powerful yet melodic vocals. Sometimes it leans towards prog metal, sometimes to power metal, sometimes to folk metal, sometimes to traditional metal, sometimes to thrash metal. And it still sounds like a cohesive whole, due to how well blended it all is.
Recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Helloween, and Symphony X, Rage In My Eyes brings an icy new edge to traditional power metal.

RAGE IN MY EYES is a heavy metal band from Brazil. The band’s first album was recorded in 2017 and 2018, partially in Los Angeles and partially in their native Porto Alegre, Brazil. For 17 years the band went under the name Scelerata, which had a huge history in the Brazilian heavy metal scenario.
RAGE IN MY EYES introduces to the world a unique kind of music. Being from southern Brazil, the band shows a side of the country most people don’t know about. Blending heavy/prog metal with elements of milonga – which is a music genre from southern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina – the band presents a never-heard metal before.
In the albums “Darkness and Light” (2006) and “Skeletons Domination” (2008) (released as Scelerata), the band had already inserted instruments such as accordion in their songs. Renowned gaucho musician Renato Borghetti recorded the harmonica on the band’s first album and accordionist Matheus Kléber was featured on the second album. In the new song, “Death Sleepers” there is again the participation of accordionist Matheus Kleber. This is a trend that should improve in the near future. This mix of styles occurs naturally, depending on the roots of the band. Magnus Wichmann, guitarist and composer of the band, is the grandson of the legendary gaucho musician Teixeirinha.
Guitarist Magnus Wichmann, the grandson of acclaimed Southern Brazilian folk musician Teixeirinha, highlights the arrangements of milonga and accordion present on the album: “In previous albums we had already added these elements and we saw that they combined very well with our style and compositions, and best of all, is that fans have approved these experiments. We want to present something new and, in the future, we will come up with more ideas.”
RAGE IN MY EYES’ new album, entitled “Ice Cell”, has just been made available on all digital platforms. “Ice Cell” was recorded between 2017 and 2018 in the cities of Los Angeles (USA) and Porto Alegre (Brazil) and was produced by Magnus Wichmann at Magneto Studio (Brazil) and Daufembach Studio (USA). It was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by the renowned Brazilian producer Adair Daufembach. The cover was designed by Tiago Masseti, who has worked with Hibria, Luis Kalil and Daydream XI. According to the band, the graphic art seeks to show the mascot Sage in a darker mood: “We wanted to present a more realistic Sage, with a strong expression and at the same time that seemed marked by life; we brought him closer to us.”.
Drummer Francis Cassol’s recent move to the United States has helped the band strengthen relationships with producer Adair Daufembach. “Recording here in the US with Adair was an amazing experience. We have achieved impressive results in terms of sound, and I’m sure it will please our fans and metal fans in general.” Jonathas Pozo (vocals), Magnus Wichmann, and Leo Nunes (guitars), and Pedro Fauth (bass) keep the Brazilian base active and are setting the stage for the opening show for Iron Maiden on October 9 at Gremio Stadium in Porto Alegre.
“Ice Cell” is an independent release, initially out only on digital download and streaming platforms, as Jonathas Pozo explains: “We recently had a successful crowdfunding campaign that surpassed the goal and allowed us to make the ‘Death Sleepers’ video. We are looking into the possibility of a new campaign for a physical album distribution, offering different kits and packages to the fans.”
