“Fractures & Outlines put the extent of their influences into this latest track. Taking hints from hardcore legends, such as early Silverstein or Alexisonfire as well as metalcore hardhitters like Obey The Brave and Killswitch Engage. “Kerosene” also features a guest vocal performance from Salem Trials frontman Jericho Spencer-Champagne to add to the powerful nature of the track.” – Metal Injection

“From the start this track punches its way out of the speakers. It features some of the best growl vocals I have heard for some time. The beat is crazy infectious, in fact the whole track is one big catchy escapism from life as it is. Just what the band intended.” – Backseat Mafia

“FRACTURES & OUTLINES are very talented band. Their music ability is put out as if it were a parade from album start to album finish.” – Metal Temple

“‘’End Of The World’’ throws me back into my emo-phase right away. I am LOVING it! The music is very dynamic, fast and diverse. I like the clean vocals and the growls together. ‘’Echoes’’ starts with high pitched screams, and that is when I was completely sold. The chorus has an original twist to it, there is somewhat of a breakdown in the drumline when you hear ‘’ECHOES’’” – Lyrical Spell Magazine

“Try and fight your way through this album without stopping; you’ll find yourself “Defenseless.”” – PureGrainAudio

“if you are into the post hardcore scene then this album is for you!… As amazing as the album is, I’d be willing to wager that the live experience would be even better. I hope they manage to make it out to SoCal one day or even Vegas I’d love to attend one of their concerts!” – The Music Below

“Overall, Fractures & Outlines debut album provides a more than enjoyable throwback to old-school metalcore and screamo but with their more varied and melodic sound and optimistic lyrics they do add an energetic breath of fresh air to both subgenres. ” – Belgian Metal Shredder

“ce groupe a le mérite d’avoir une excellente dynamique et d’être une équipe bien liée. Ils sont charismatiques et les gars ont du plaisir sur scène, ce qui pour moi est un incontournable pour offrir un excellent show! Leur album, Defenseless sorti en mai 2019, nous transporte dans divers thèmes tous reliés à nos luttes et nos démons intérieurs. Des thèmes lourds de sens, mais amenés musicalement avec brio.” – Ondes Chocs (Live Review – FarmFest 2019)

“An interesting choice to the lineup, as the other bands were of the deathcore / melodic metal genre. However, what they lacked in genre similarity they made up for in energy. This was highlighted by their cover of Alexisonfire “This Could Be Anywhere in the World“, which I and the crowd were taken aback by. Not only did they do the cover well, but they got the crowd engaged and were eager to mosh and singalong to it.” – Splice Media Group

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Nick actually passed out after delivering the long scream during the breakdown of Vultures, and then proceeded to panic because he thought he had epilepsy. Turns out he just ran out of air (we promise he’s okay).

2. Eric has gotten very good at music production and is the one that produced Vultures and all other upcoming singles.

3. The reason why we’re going for a comic book theme for our single artwork (all made by Nick) is that Nick considers that each song represents one of his inner demons, or villains, and tells its own story.

4. Max is our lead guitarist despite having the smallest hands we’ve ever seen on a human being.

5.  Matt had issues with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and once played an entire set with his drumstick duct-taped to his hand.

Ripping out of Gatineau, Canada, Fractures & Outlines is a post-hardcore band with influences ranging from Silverstein, No Use For A Name and Killswitch Engage.

The band came together in 2014 and work tirelessly planting their feet in the local underground music scene. Intrepidly, they created their first EP ‘Checkmate’ in 2017, which was met with solid acclaim from various publications.

As a team, the band works on each song together crafting heavy hooks, catchy choruses, and brutal breakdowns with lyrical themes about internal struggle and having to fight your own demons. Working to further develop a sound that is their own, they hit the studio in 2018 to start work on their 10 track full-length ‘Defenseless’ released in May 2019.

In 2020, a year after the release of their debut album, the band returned with their follow-up single “Kerosene”. The band teamed up once again with producer Joe Lyko (Dark Moon Productions).

Now in 2021, Fractures & Outlines return with their next single “Vultures”. The track was written amidst a band hiatus in the middle of the Covid pandemic. It’s a hard-hitting mosh anthem that fulminates their band’s frustration towards the current state of the world and their anger concerning seeing people around them falling for misinformation and conspiracies. As you listen, you can hear a blend of musical elements similar to early Silverstein and heavy-riffing like A Day to Remember.

“Vultures” is due out on October 15, 2021 on all digital platforms.

Heavy Blog Is Heavy Premiere Snakeblade’s Heavily Technical “Foul Sorcery of Flame and Shadow”

New Album “The Curse” Out October 13, 2021

Canada’s Snakeblade has a new single out, and now, death metal fans can take it all in over at Heavy Blog Is Heavy who is premiering “Foul Sorcery of Flame and Shadow” at the following link HERE.

This is the sixth track out of the ten presented on the upcoming album “The Curse” and according to Mike Redston is a full-fledged five-minute roller coaster. He explains more in detail:

“This track is absolute bananas. I consider this to be my most technical song off The Curse with some super fun riffs. Guitar wise it’s got flavours of everything from Archspire to Metallica. And lyrically, it’s a complete homage to Game of Thrones – fans of the show will no doubt be able to spot the reference. It starts full-on with a relentless attack of blast beats and shredding. Then about halfway through you get this complete shift to a half-time neck-snapping section. It’s closed out by a silky smooth acoustic outro to seal the deal.”

“The Curse” is the second album from Snakeblade, following “The Kingdom”, which came out in 2020. It is quite an evolution, growing in both complexity and scale with the addition of a session drummer to handle the kit. Mike Redston formed the solo project in the midst of the pandemic, as a distraction. To deepen the escape, all his lyrics surrounded fantasy concepts from his favorite video games and movies. The name Snakeblade comes from his first character in Dungeons and Dragons which was a bugbear.

For fans of death and black metal both new and old, Snakeblade is recommended for fans of Dimmu Borgir, Death and Skeletonwitch.

The album “The Curse” will be available on October 13, 2021.

About:
Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Snakeblade was formed by Mike Redston as an escapist project while the entire world was quarantined. What came out of this anxious time may surprise you though, as Snakeblade refuses to follow typical one-man black metal trends. Every song on their debut album The Kingdom explodes with energy and youthful rage, delivering a pummelling of riffs, blastbeats, and shrieking vocals. With lyrical topics of fantasy, medieval battles, lord of the rings, and video games, Snakeblade is a headbanging nerd’s wet dream. Now on their second effort, the one-man project delves into bold new territory adding orchestral and electro elements to the blackened thrashy chaos that is: The Curse.

Discography:
2020 – The Kingdom
2021 – The Curse

– 30 –

“This new song (The Red Mage’s Seduction) is a wild but multi-faceted thrill-ride. A burst of jolting riffage launches the track, and as it grows more feverish it provokes a long, throat-ruining scream. The drums (performed by session drummer Dennis Kraakman) hammer and spit like machine guns as the bass bubbles and the guitar writhes in flames. There are chilling moments when slashing chords, slithering arpeggios, and flickering spectral solos sound like magic spells cast in sound by a viciously demented sorceror and the vocals descend into monstrous croaking growls, only to have the song erupt again in chaotic incendiary gales. The song’s feeling of magical mystery and ominous peril emerges again and rises to towering heights, elevated by grand synths and gigantic booms. Once there, an extravagant extended guitar solo lights the listener’s nerve endings on fire without relinquishing the music’s aura of sorcery run amok. The song slashes and burns again, with the elaborate layering of guitars, tumultuous percussion, and slaughtering screams creating an ecstatic finale.” – No Clean Singing

“This one man black metal project from Canada, spearheaded by Mike Redston, wastes no time in pushing the pedal to the metal and letting it all go. No, seriously; the very first track on his new album, The Kingdom, has an insanely flamboyant and satisfying guitar solo, breakneck drums, and vocal shrieks aplenty.” – Heavy Blog Is Heavy

“Snakeblade Goes Beyond Black Metal Trappings on ‘The Kingdom'” – Exclaim!

“It’s safe to say that Snakeblade’s musical genius will quickly outgrow Redston’s one-man credo, for other musicians will surely seek out his vision. That he has crafted such venomous metal that is still wildly entertaining during this pandemic is a huge accomplishment, and The Kingdom will appeal to fans of this black metal style, particularly followers of Mayhem, Borknagar and classic Slayer.” – Exclaim!

“This is absolutely my jam, and The Kingdom is one of my favorite albums of the year so far.” – Toilet ov Hell

“I am compelled to say that SNAKEBLADE most definitely delivered an utmost maddening, but enjoyably entertaining discovery that made me replay this …pretty much all day long. “The Kingdom” is an addicting spin that will blow brains & shatter windows with explosive clarity. Full of density, technical prowess & engaging captivation. This is an incredibly amazing debut album, and I will most look forward to their upcoming projects. And for a singular writing attempt, bravo! I couldn’t help but score this as a masterful piece of other-worldly malevolence which most certainly deserves a slot in your collection for sure. Check it out!” – Metal Temple

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 30, 2021

Metal Vocalist MEKA NISM Unveils New Single “The Day Fell”

Meka Nism is a musician known for her alternative metal band, her passionate solo acoustic performances along with international and multi-dimensional collaborations.

Today, she shares “The Day Fell”, a new single crafted from an honest moment of vulnerability in the chaos of life during the Covid pandemic. Written on piano during quarantine in the summer of 2020 while experiencing the extreme decay of all stability of “normal” life, this song is Meka Nism‘s acknowledgment of both the fear of loss and genuine gratitude for the enduring human spirit.

“It’s the fragile inner reflection of the destruction, with a refusal to crumble. A welcoming of the 5th dimension and a hopeful higher perspective into our morphing reality,” Meka states.

“The Day Fell” is a metalhead’s raw attempt at telling the truth about how we feel during these very unstable times. It may be a more gentle expression than we usually see from Meka Nism, but it’s the reason we know that she reveals truth in her songs. This recording demands attention to fully breathe it in, with gorgeous violin by Michelle Jones, guitar by Raziel, engineering by Erik Emery, mixing by Jeremy Klein, all overseen by producer/ Apex Arts Studios owner Shana Ballard and of course, written and performed on piano and vocals by Meka Nism herself.

Whether aggressively or delicately, there’s no mistake that Meka Nism wants to rock the essence of our souls. Listening to “The Day Fell” will reach into the depths of the heart and shine some much-needed compassion into our darkest shadows.

================================

“Meka, is an absolute star with a spine severing growl and a strong melodic vocal that easily surfaces as the capstone of this band. Considering the past and present singers that set the stage for this like Ann Wilson, Amy Lee, and Lzzy Hale, it is clear that Meka has stepped up to fly this particular banner. Girlfriend can sing, people. And from watching the video the band has recently released, featuring the title track from their five song EP “The War Inside,” she simply seems to own the performance space, born to be there, willing to travel at glorious speeds letting you ride shotgun with a smile plastered across your face.” – Keith Clement/ Metalheads Forever

“Did anyone order a soul crushing, female fronted metal band?” – Idobi Radio

“While there’s a distinct modern metal feel to Meka Nism, the key to what makes their sound more unique and engaging is the pool of influences that they draw from…they have managed to find their own style within it – one that you will have a hard time forgetting once you hear it. A band that could easily find themselves on the rise as word starts to get around.” – Dead Rhetoric

“All in all, this is an impressive effort. The songwriting and playing are years beyond a band that isn’t signed to a record deal, and you would never realize that this is an independent release as the production value rivals any major label offering. If this EP is any indication of what Meka Nism is capable of, I am really looking forward to when they release their first full-length album.” – Grande Rock

“What would happen when you lock Arch Enemy and Lacuna Coil in the same room and force them to record an album? Well, you’d probably get something like Florida residents Meka Nism.” – Merchants of Air

“They experiment with melodies, dipping their toes in and out of a pool of sounds and influences. Then, they combine these creative expressions with the most important element of their music: the message. Meka Nism doesn’t just deliver thrashing tunes; it seeks to deliver listeners from their own wars inside. ” – Shockwave Mag

“A little bit of keyboard, a thumping drum beat followed by roaring riffs leads into the blazing hot title track. A track that mixes modern metal with operatic style scope. That element comes from the incredible range on singer Ms. Meka. She can go from huge soaring melodies to heavier shouts and screams in an instant. Incredible.” – Games, Brains & A Head-Banging Life

“After listening to “The War Inside” several times, I wonder why I did not have this band on my radar before. Meka Nism plays heavy metal / hard rock at a very high level. For me it’s THE newcomer of the year.” – Metal Heads Forever Magazine

“If you have no picked up this EP yet, run and do so immediately.  ” – Down South Mag FL

“In closing, I would just like to say that it is a gross misunderstanding that this band has not been picked up and signed.  I could easily see them attached to Century Media or Roadrunner Records. The music world, hell, the metal world needs to be exposed to Meka Nism, and their incredibly talented and soulful lead singer, Ms. Meka. Rating: 8/10. ” – I’m Music Magazine

“It’s honest, heavy and packed full of some of the most amazing elements of metal music infused with some of the most versatile, controlled and distinct vocals in metal music today.” – Yesterdaze News

“Meka Nism bodes themselves to be major players in the metal game with their crushing sound, their moments of sounding equally brutal and equally beautiful in the same token, and tell stories that will make fans of European/power metal quite happy.  This EP gets an 8 out of 10 rating from Madness To Creation just for the pure talent and prowess that they possess.” – Madness To Creation

“Meka Nism is a band to watch. ” – Sonic Cathedral

“Lead singer Ms. Meka is intriguing and quite compelling, both visually and with her vocal range,  and the guys in her band provide the perfect vehicle for the artistic vision that they’ve managed to create together.” – I’m Music Magazine

“This band is simply what is needed in this world. I truly cannot get enough of this band and the music. Their second album “The Shift” is a work of art. The EP takes you on a journey through so many levels of brilliance in metal and rock. ” Metal Unrated

“They are an exceptionally talented 5 piece, fronted and founded by Meka, whose vocals are just mesmerizing…I feel like I can say a lot of the same things about a bunch of the songs, yet all the songs are very different. For the most part, they are all dynamic, they build and drop, they’re powerful, diverse, melodic, and heavy. You can feel the passion as well throughout, and that is often something hard to capture on a recording. The musicianship is top notch in all aspects…Easily one of my favorites of 2015. It blew me away like few things do anymore.” – The Last Exit (EP review “The Shift: Anthems For A Revolution” (2015)

“Full of energy, this band never fails to strike a chord with everyone sharing the stage from the audience. Meka’s vocals are the antithesis of the ever-present smile on her face that lights up the room. This lovely woman genuinely smiles with her eyes. The entire band is simply memorizing. Meka Nism is one of those bands that must be seen live. Don’t hesitate to meet them either. All of them are engaging, genuine and make you feel like the rock star! ” – Metal Nexus

“Orlando’s metal/operatic band, MekaNism performed songs which included “From Out of Nowhere” and “Mekamorphosis,” which got the crowd hyped for their set. Ms. Meka, with her melodious sound and great enthusiasm, was so engaged and energized throughout the performance. The rest of the band was bursting with the same energy and truly put on a memorable show.” – (Live Review) Monkey Goose Magazine

“From Palatine, Illinois to Springfield to Austin and now Green Bay, Meka Nism has taken on the United States with such a vengeance and an all-around great perceptive on life.  I mean, come on, their trailer caught on fire and the entire band was still in high spirits to kick ass every night when they performed before Avatar….Every time I go and travel to see Meka Nism, it is so worth it.” – Unrated Magazine

” Meka Nism combines the sounds of nu-metal, progressive rock, with a touch of symphonic flair and art rock showmanship. Fronted by “vocal artist and shaman” Ms. Meka takes the shaman moniker very seriously: her onstage look resembles a tribal shaman, with makeup on her face in harsh, bold lines; her outfit resembling something out of a Mad Max movie, and holding a shamanic wand in one hand, and a microphone in the other. It’s a very cool look that complements the powerful musical sound quite well.” – Script The Darkness

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Everyone had been experiencing enormous change during the pandemic of the past couple of years. Meka Nism wrote The Day Fell on a piano at a friend’s house after many losses including an emergency plumbing incident that caused temporary homelessness. A piano ballad written in a moment in between. Which is appropriate because this is a single in between other releases coming and a reinvention of the band as a whole and Meka Nism herself as an artist, performer and soul having a human experience. She plans on releasing a wider range of music in the future very much in the metal genre but Not stopping there.

2. Meka Nism is a trained Shaman/ spiritual life coach/ tarot card reader bringing esoteric and mystical themes into her music for Empowerment and Inspiration to Transcend previous limitations. She is working on what it means to experience music as a medicine or tool of epic transformation.

3. Meka performed over 150 shows in Japan as solo Artist, Origami Girls and Performance Art/ Experimental Opera Singer/ Butoh Dancer.

4. Meka is starring in the Central Florida Witches Ball on Saturday, October 16th at fire fury Barnoness Alto. This rock musical and festival is a charity event to raise money for Transfiguring adoption.

5. Meka also makes other appearances in performance art/ musical collaborations such as the Creature Cabaret for the Creative City Arts Project and the Orlando Fringe Festival.

Meka Nism is an Alternative Metal singer, performer, artist and shaman who creates and collaborates on music, art,  shows and experiences meant to empower, inspire and expand the consciousness of those who witness and participate.

Meka Nism was formed initially as an experimental, acoustic, and goth rock project called Meka Nism and Her Rusty Tears with members including Florizel Dennis and Brain Manowitz (vegan Black Metal Chef). Meka grew up into the Orlando rock scene as guitar player for Orlando punk legends “Dirty Barby” (having played CBGB’s) and  founder of goth metal cabaret  band “Angel Autopsy” (appearing at Florida Music Fest). Florida based Hidden Records quickly noticed her as being a unique talent and put her on their independent label. In 2006, “Mad to Love” was the first album recorded by Meka Nism and her Rusty Tears. The album was recognized as an exceptional artistic achievement of great beauty and passion. “Break,” the second track from the album, was the WINNER of the Songwriter’s Showcase of America’s (SSA) Best Experimental Song of the Year – 2006. Meka was also SSA’s Solo Artist of the Month – January 2007. Explosive with enthusiasm, Meka made an impact on the Central Florida music scene as well as enchanting audiences around the US with her expressive dark humor storytelling acoustic set, in areas like Southern California, New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and more.

From 2007-2010,  Meka  lived and toured across Japan having played over 150 shows as solo acoustic artist Ms. Meka Nism and as J-Pop/ Rock duo Origami Girls with partner/bassist Yukari Ikeda. Meka was able to experience life and culture while playing shows in Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, Sapporo, Kobe (Going Kobe Rock Fest )etc and also studying Japanese Butoh dance, Buddhist Meditation and more. Yukari and Meka also made a television appearance on Kyoto Television playing their popular song,”Origami Beat”. Their Horror Release of “Zombie Grrrls” and “Samurai Ghost”  was celebrated with a Zombie Movie and Zombie Prom at Urbanguild in Kyoto on Halloween 2009. They took drummer Eri Takeda on tour in Florida with them in Jan. 2009 as noted by the Orlando Weekly.

The movement to create a full metal group to support the soaring vocal range and intensity of Meka Nism began when she returned to the US. In March of 2013, the debut EP “The Dance at the End of the World” was released as the band’s first collaborative collection of songs as a band. The theme behind the EP was based off of a world that was destroyed, desolate and in dismay. It was meant to uplift spirits to a higher potential out of negative situations and to bring them to light. Meka Nism also released their first music video for the single “Bring the Sun Back” (With partial lyrics in Japanese)  in October of 2013. Meka Nism’s debut EP “Dance at the End of the World” was proof that new sounds, new excitement and new frontiers have not only been explored but have been claimed as her own unique voice in the music industry.

After touring and playing numerous shows in Florida and in the South East, opening for Mastodon at the Kink Festival, and headlining a House of Blues show, Meka Nism began the journey to start “The Shift”. The EP was successfully funded by a Kickstarter campaign back in 2014. Brett Hestla, former bass player for Creed and vocals for Dark New Day, was chosen as the producer and recording began back in October of 2014. “The Shift” was released on May 1st with a massive CD Release show at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida.

2015 was a big year for the band in that they toured for a month with platinum award winning band, Trapt, all across the mid-west and east coast.  Meka Nism also played the Texas Showdown Festival in El Paso, Texas, opening for the likes of The Offspring, Limp Biscuit, Grammy Award winners – Body Count, iwrestledabearonce and more. Followed by a tour across Texas with Otep. They released two music videos during this time “Mouth of God,” and “From Out of Nowhere,” to celebrate their impressive LIVE show performance and their enthusiasm for their fans. Meka Nism “Live from Machine Shop,” is also available as an album for the capture of their onstage presence.

In 2016, Meka Nism got the opportunity to tour with the Swedish power-house and one of metal’s biggest up and coming bands, Avatar. The two bands wrecked havoc across the east coast and mid-west before ending in Minot, North Dakota. Upon returning home, Meka Nism was named Orlando’s #1 Metal Band according to the Orlando Weekly and was chosen to headline the local stage at the 3rd Annual Kink Festival opening for Evanescence, Hellyeah, and InFlames.

In 2017 they were given the slot to open the main stage at WJRR’s Earthday Birthday 24 with the likes of Alter Bridge, Sevendust, Nonpoint, and more. They traveled in the fall  to Lubeck, Germany  to record the EP, “The War Inside” with world renowned producer and engineer, Lasse Lammert and documented some of the experience to share with their audience. While in Germany they played at the Breeding Festival in Flensburg.

The 2018 release of “The War Inside” had a great media response from the Metal press Internationally. They had a successful listening party at Park Ave CDs hosted by WJRR’s SupaDave and opened for Joanthan Davis(Korn) at The Plaza. The three music videos to support this release from director Jim Doughetry showcase the energy, theatrical presence and Shamanic themes behind Meka Nism’s music. “The War Inside, “ “Trailblazer,” and “Black Sky,” are each a celebration of visual aesthetic with spiritual consciousness featuring performers like Masami Koshikawa and Lady Cimorene of Phantasmagoria. Both of whom Meka herself enjoys creating Performance Art experiences with,  including the Creature Cabaret, Hoodstock, Orlando Fringe Festival, and Creative City Project. Meka also opened Earthday Birthday 25 by singing our National Anthem, as a significant honor in her career.

2019 started out rocking with openeing for Stabbing Westward at the House of Blue then doing some shows from the South to Northeast States with a festival appearance at Metal in the Mountains in West Virginia and another at the Millennium Music Conference/Showcase in Harrisburg, PA. They ended the year with the most epic show headlining at the House of Blues and opening for Grammy nominated band Death Angel.

Though 2020, everything changed for us all, Meka started the year in Los Angeles attending NAMM and her first attendance to the Grammy Awards as a Governor of the Board for the Florida Chapter of the Recording Academy. She took the time to study Theta Healing while getting her Spiritual Life coaching certificate and started a podcast called Ascended Heart Navigators with friend Nataraja. Meka began working with Apex Arts Studios in North Hollywood, CA and studio owner/executive producer Shana Ballard. They are collaborating on the release Meka Nism’s heart healing project starting in September 2021as well as plan to continue her innovative force in the metal community with a new full length album for 2022.

Shumaun (L to R) Jose Mora: Bass, Farhad Hossain: Vocals, Guitar, Keys, Tyler Kim: Guitar

Progressive rock band Shumaun recently released their new album “Memories & Intuition” earlier this September. For the recording, the band recruited an all-star lineup of drummers that included Thomas Lang (Peter Gabriel, Paul Gilbert), Atma Anur (Jason Becker, Tony Macalpine), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord), Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation), and Chris DeChiara.

Today, in support of the full-length, Shumaun is releasing Thomas Lang’s playthrough video for the track “Invincible,” which is being premiered on GearGods HERE.

“It truly is an honor for someone like Thomas Lang to be on Shumaun’s latest record. He was able to take our songs to another level with his creative approach to drumming. All of us are big fans,” adds vocalist/guitarist Farhad Hossain.

“Memories & Intuition” is Shumaun‘s third album. The band wants average music fans to be able to feel a connection to the melodies and lyrics. Expecting that everyone’s listening experience will be different, they just want the honesty and integrity of the music to resonate with listeners in whatever shape or form that may be. Shumaun provides an accessible approach to modern progressive rock, with ambitious melodies and catchy harmonies. The new full length is also more song-oriented than the previous two albums, but maintains the progressive twists and turns the band is known for. They can be appreciated by a wide spectrum of rock and metal enthusiasts. “Memories & Intuition” is lyrically thematic, but the songs were written to be stand-alone singles, as Farhad Hossain (vocals/guitar/keys) explains:

“Even though the album is very singles based, it’s meant to be listened to in sequence. There is a natural flow between the songs and lyrics that almost make it feel conceptual. The album theme ties to loss, the current human condition, personal relationships, and the battle of the self.”

Shumaun is recommended for fans of Rush, Fates Warning, and TOOL.

“Memories & Intuition” is available on digital platforms Shumaun.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:
Shumaun initially started as a solo project by Farhad Hossain (ex singer/guitarist/keyboardist of Iris Divine). After recording a few demos, he decided to recruit a few friends to help build the project into a full-fledged collaborative band. Through the course of recording their self-titled debut album, Shumaun went through a period of tribulation while securing a drummer. Original drummer Tanvir Tomal (ex Iris Divine) had to leave for professional obligations in the middle of the recording sessions and was later replaced with Waqar Khan (Entity Paradigm), who is also well known for his work with the platinum-selling Ali Azmat of the EMI recording artist Junoon (one of South Asia’s most successful rock bands). Waqar remained with the band long enough to record a few tracks on the debut record as well as appear live for some of the earlier shows. Travis Orbin (Darkest Hour, Periphery), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord) recorded the remaining drums on the debut record that was released in the fall of 2015. Tanvir has since returned to the band as the live drummer.

2019 saw the band releasing their sophomore album “One Day Closer to Yesterday.” The album was once again mixed by Brett Caldas-Lima at Tower Studio in France. The album was rawer and heavier, but the melodies and vocals were never compromised. It includes the bombastic prog metal single “Go.”

2021 sees Shumaun releasing their third album “Memories & Intuition,” which features the amazing drumming of legends such as Thomas Lang (Peter Gabriel, Paul Gilbert), Atma Anur (Jason Becker, Tony Macalpine), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord), and Leo Margarit (Pain of Salvation). Shumaun once again tapped Brett Caldas-Lima and Tower Studio for mixing and mastering. The album is their most melodic to date and consists of their single “Memories of Water.”

The Shumaun sound is shaped by the soaring vocals and lead guitar work of Farhad Hossain, the pounding melodic bass lines of Jose Mora, and the subtle guitar nuances of Tyler Kim. The band has received many accolades, and have made it onto several “album of the year” lists from sites such as Progressive Music Planet, Decibel Geek, and Metal Asylum etc. The band also won The Deli Magazine’s “Best of 2015” for Washington DC bands, and have been featured on Revolver Magazine, and Decibel Magazine.

Canada’s Infrared has a new album ready for listeners who can tune into Bravewords for a heavy dose of no holds barred, traditional 80s thrash. The quartet of Kirk Gidley (guitar), Alain Groulx (drums), Mike Forbes (bass) and Armin Kamal (vocals/guitar) initially started on their journey back in 1986 and through trials, tribulations and a very long hiatus, they have arrived here with a third full-length album “From the Black Swamp”.

Infrared is the kind of band that writes exactly the songs needed for the album, working on them meticulously until they are up to standard. Each of the twelve songs is a standalone banger and cohesive with the rest of the album. A definite trip back in time, the band explains the album in their own words:

“With 12 songs and an hour of brand-new music, this album is the most personal yet. It is a rollercoaster ride of riff after riff, thundering bass, relentless drumming, and heavy lyrical content. The band hopes these personal songs resonate with fans and attract new listeners who share a love and passion for classic metal songs delivered with a modern touch and production.”

The songs on the album are a collaborative effort between the band members, it was produced, mixed and mastered by Kamal and the album artwork was done by Nate MacDonald. Infrared has shared the stage with bands such as Anvil, Sacrifice, Razor, and Venom Inc., and looks forward to supporting this album with a tour as soon as possible.

Staying true to their roots, this album is for those who like the 80’s Bay area sound mixed with classic metal influences such as Maiden, Priest and Sabbath.

“From the Black Swamp” is streaming now on Bravewords HERE.

The full release is officially out on September 30, 2021.

About:
If Infrared sounds like classic thrash metal, that’s because they are! And rightfully so since they were making music as teenagers in the mid to late 80s back when the Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) were just becoming famous. They literally lived and breathed that scene as it was happening and garnered national attention in Canada through their song and video for Thoughts Caught (in Between).

Then….life happened and members took different paths and the music, that was hot in the underground metal scene and loved by demo tape traders near and far, went dormant for 27 years! In 2014 Infrared reunited with 3 of the original 4 members (Kirk, Armin, and Alain), and since original bassist Shawn Thompson had moved to Miami, they recruited Mike Forbes. They worked hard to release their first full-length album, No Peace (2016), featuring songs written all those years ago. 2018 saw Infrared release their sophomore album, Saviours, featuring 8 new songs coming in at just over 50 minutes of music! That was followed up by their 2019 EP, Back to the Warehouse featuring the last of their 80’s written songs and released as a bridge to their next full-length album. Now, in 2021, Infrared release their most mature album yet, From the Black Swamp. The album features 12 songs for one hour of hard-hitting and emotionally charged songs steeped in the themes of betrayal and malicious sabotage in all walks of life, from societal to interpersonal. With several high-profile concerts under their belts including opening for Anvil, Sacrifice, Razor, Venom Inc., Dirkschneider, Flotsam and Jetsam, DBC, E-Force, and Atrophy, Infrared raises their horns and looks forward to getting out there to meet and befriend metal lovers everywhere!

Discography:

2019 – Back to the Warehouse – EP
2018 – Saviours – LP

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 27, 2021

Canada’s Deformatory Unleash Guitar Playthrough “Within The Astral Abscess”

Playthrough Premiere via GearGods

New Album “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon” Out Now!

Canadian death metal duo Deformatory, helmed by Charlie Leduc (Guitars & Vocals) and Neil Grandy (Drums) recently unleashed their third full-length, “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon”. This newest death metal offering contains 9 relentlessly brutal tracks wrapped in a beautifully complex concept, designed to overwhelm & entice the senses.

Today, in support of the record, guitarist Charlie Leduc is giving a behind-the-scenes look at his guitar prowess with a new playthrough for the album’s opening track “Within The Astral Abscess” via its premiere on GearGods HERE.

Leduc’s adds about the track:

“Within The Astral Abscess is such a fun and relentless song to play. It’s got a little bit of everything tossed into it, mostly because it was written in a single-take jam session. There’s just no stopping the energy that comes through when smashing these riffs out. The unorthodox song structure and variations in the vibe throughout the track makes it a perfect warm-up song and one hell of an album opener.”

Deformatory has been a maelstrom of devastation since 2010, assaulting all in their wake with relentless sonic brutality.

Rising from the depths of Ottawa, Canada, Deformatory has been delivering their crushing brand of extreme metal to live, screaming, and sweaty audiences across the provinces of Ontario & Quebec as a headlining band along with being a supporting act for Cryptopsy, Obscura, Napalm Death, Archspire, Beyond Creation, Fuck The Facts, Gorod and more.

With over a decade of crafting a maniacal and unconventional approach to extreme metal, they have garnered the devotion of fans worldwide since their debut EP “A Prelude Of…” in 2011, which has been followed by two full-length albums “In The Wake of Pestilence” (Independent, 2013) and “Malediction” (CDN Records, 2016). Through CDN Records, they have also released a cover of Deicide’s infamous song “Once Upon The Cross” and a split album with Blood of Christ entitled “Bilateral Carnage” both in 2018.

Now in 2021, they bring forth a new hellstorm with their third full-length entitled “Inversion of The Unseen Horizon”, which will be their first as a duo featuring Charlie Leduc (Guitars & Vocals) and Neil Grandy (Drums).

The nine-track album is an assault for the masses that reaches all corners of the extreme metal spectrum from straight-up death to old-school black metal, all to encourage a maniacal frenzy, which even includes a guest appearance from Jon Levasseur (ex-Cryptopsy, None So Vile-era), a very admired guitar player in the genre and influence for the band.

Recommended for fans of Hate Eternal, Cryptopsy, and Morbid Angel, “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon” was released on September 3rd and can be enjoyed on CD, Vinyl, Cassette and digital download at http://deformatory.bandcamp.com

“A maniacal riff-fest colliding with pulverizing drumming and grotesquely executed vocals, Impaled Upon The Carrionspire is a memorable journey into a modern death metal portal of chaos. This is beyond a brutal wall of sound; it’s an experience that hooks you in, and guides you through everything you can expect to hear on the new album.” – Metal Injection

“Let’s cut to the chase: Imagine filling a syringe with unadulterated adrenaline, sticking it straight into your carotid artery, and jamming the plunger down with as much force as you can muster. That’s the effect of listening to Deformatory’s “Beyond the Abhorrence“. Driven by the mad weaponry of drummer Neil Grandy‘s almost relentless double-kick barrage and the rabid monstrosity of Charlie Leduc‘s cavernous bellowing, the song is a non-stop attack of mind-mutilating, pulse-pumping savagery. Leduc unleashes a plethora of macabre riffs and mutated leads, creating a multitude of frightening yet electrifying sensations, none of which are connected to a sane mind.” – No Clean Singing

“”Summoning the Cosmic Devourer,” being almost seven minutes long and just jam-packed with insanity, feels like it devoured other, lesser songs to become a terrifying megalith of riff after riff after riff. Dashing from one tempo to another with no warning, the song’s askew progressions illustrate sneering triumph and cosmic indifference with punishingly clear double-bass work to keep the tempo firmly in the mortal plane. This vile ceremony of riffs is intense and immediate enough to warrant constant attention, but it also seems to ooze with discordant mystery—each jarring and jagged chord hints at a terror outside our understanding. ” – Invisible Oranges

“those seeking the most brutal and battery ram-like extremity, Deformatory checks off all of the boxes that you’d like it to: strong musicianship and soloing, intense riffs and vocals, and just enough melody to keep it from going completely unhinged.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Inversion Of The Unseen Horizon consolidates Deformatory’s position as one of the finest acts in the Canadian metal scene.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 27, 2021

For fans of Milanku, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Opeth, Neurosis

Canadian Cinematic Post / Prog Rock In Solastalgia, EitherWay Announces Debut EP “Morii” Out Oct 8th

Montreal, Canada’s In Solastalgia, EitherWay is the visual and instrumental post / progressive rock experience created by Jean Philippe Hébert. To introduce himself and his music, he’s unveiling the debut EP “Morii” on Friday, October 8th, 2021.

In Solastalgia, EitherWay goal is to merge together a post-apocalyptic screenshot of a non-utopic universe within a 6-song act.

As Hébert explains, “I’m is trying to create a complex, visual listening experience, like a short movie or a trip, in which the music itself changes intensity, emotions and comes in waves, there is a playful side that works with a nostalgic side.”

Heavily influenced by film scores, In Solastalgia, EitherWay will likely continue further down this path, becoming more and more complex, with bigger arrangements and more instrumentation, when Hébert attends film school.

Stating that he is a rather shy person, it took him some time to get In Solastalgia, EitherWay off the ground. About a year ago, he started showing his music and received enough positive feedback that it encouraged him to go ahead with this project. He also became fascinated by the idea of Solastalgia and the effect that environmental change has on our collective mental health.

In Solastalgia, EitherWay is recommended for fans of Opeth, GodSpeed! You Black Emperor, Russian Circles and Mogwai.

“Morii” will be available as of October 8th via Insolastalgiaeitherway.bandcamp.com.

Jean Philippe Hébert is an academically trained guitarist. Originally from Québec City, JP was educated at Notre-Dame-De-Foy campus, a private college in the outskirts of Quebec capital.  He grew up surrounded by nature with one brother and two parents in the medical field.

As a young boy, JP would admire a guitar that had been hung on the wall of his house for ages, until he found the courage to ask for the instrument and some lessons. As a teenager, JP played a lot, concentrating his efforts towards a heavy style of music, until he started college and began studying classical and jazz. He is also a multi-instrumentalist; playing not only guitar but piano, drums and bass as well as banjo, mandolin and other specialized guitars.

His musical abilities landed him many gigs with prominent local Quebec City acts like Elliot Maginot, Lisa Leblanc and Les Soeurs Boulay to name a few. For over a decade now he has been lead guitarist on many of these projects both in-studio and live settings.

He is currently working on a solo project “In Solastalgia EitherWay”, which is the fruit of many years of work; it was built around the philosopher Glenn Albrecht idea that describes a form of emotional or existential distress caused by environmental change. This project combines JP’s love for nature and music. His influences vary from Godspeed You! Black Emperor to Goat and to heavier things like Opeth. You can hear all these worlds colliding in his music, somehow perfectly placed in chaos.

The goal is to have a 6 song EP entitled “MORII” recorded by 2021 that will then be followed by a series of concerts. The concerts themselves will be worked on as moving portraits, as he will work closely on visuals with videographers. This project is both musical and visual.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – September 24, 2021

For fans of The Scorpions, Megadeth, Queen

Rockshots Records: Out Now! THY ROW Debut Album “Unchained” + New Lyric Video For Title Track

“Unchained” Due Out September 24th

Album Guests include
Ben Varon (Oceanhoarse, ex-Amoral),
Ilja Jalkanen (Raskasta Joulua, ex-Kiuas),
Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun, Smackbound)

Rockshots Records along with Rubicon Music (Japan) are proud to release the debut album “Unchained” from Helsinki, Finland’s Thy Row, which is helmed by Metal De Facto and Everfrost vocalist Mikael Salo.

For its release day, the band is sharing a new lyric video for the album’s title track, which can be viewed and heard at the following link: https://youtu.be/nVrAw9vMouw

The band adds about the track:

“Unchained is dedicated to the memory of Alexi Laiho. We didn’t know it at first, but as the song became to be werealized that it’s really something Alexi may have jammed with his guitar. In the early stage of this song, we didn’t really know what to do with the chorus, but after Mikael joined the band, the song got its final form with a really epic chorus.”

Founded in 2017, Thy Row made their first entry on the Finnish scene with their 2019 independently released self-titled EP. The record’s lead single “The Round” reached over 110K streams on Spotify and added to the EP’s overall praise that gave the group the opportunity to tour Japan in 2019 with Beast In Black and Swallow The Sun.

Ready to follow up the success of that EP, Thy Row‘s first full-length offers up a fresh mix of the finest heavy metal with modern hard rock that every metalhead can bang their heads to. With ten tracks plus a bonus cover of X Japan’s “Blue Blood” for its Japanese release, there are lots of great melodies spiced up with shakin’ riffs that are sure to encourage fans to turn up their stereo knobs all the way to eleven and enjoy.

“Our fans have waited for this album since we released our EP. We showed everyone that we are a force to be reckoned with and this record is going to prove that to everyone.” comments bassist Juho Jokimies.

“Unchained” features guest artists Ben Varon (Oceanhoarse, ex-Amoral), Ilja Jalkanen (Raskasta Joulua, Kiuas), and Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun, Smackbound) plus was mixed by Jussi Kraft (Starkraft Studio) and partly by Nino Laurenne (Sonic Pump Studios). Mastering was handled by Grammy-nominated Svante Forsbäck of Chartmakers Mastering (Rammstein, Volbeat).

The story behind the record is the telling of Thy Row becoming a band and the tale of their collective brotherhood as they grow and learn from one another. Many of the tracks deal with personal matters from each member.

“Creating this album was a long and a hard process, but it was also a road we wanted to walk to be able to present this music to the people. With a guitar case in hand, not knowing each other originally, we became friends and we made this album with pure innocent passion and love for the music. Every song, every story is connected to our lives and our friendship, and we hold this piece very close to our hearts! Each one of us gave our best and more, developing as musicians and people in the process. None of us wanted to compromise in any area, and that made the creation process extremely long and difficult. However, we feel that our debut album is a victory of not giving up, supporting your team members when the going gets tough, and crossing the finishing line with pride and determination. The story, the sound and the process are the epitome of our lives, thoughts and experiences from those times we were making this album, and we hope that people will enjoy this ride we have to offer!”
