Canadian thrash legends Anonymus recently unleashed their 12th album “La Bestia” on June 12th via label Bam&co Heavy. Known for their discography of both French and English releases, “La Bestia” is their first full length that is completely in Spanish. You may be asking why a Spanish album? Well since 3/4 of the band speaks Spanish. Drummer Carlos Araya is Chilean born, and Oscar (Lead Vocals and Bass) and Dan Souto (Guitars and Backing Vocals) are sons of Spanish immigrants it was time to make one.

Today, the band shares their new lyric video for the album’s title track via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

The band reveals the story behind the track:

“This song is about a real story that happened here in Quebec. A father lost his mind over jealousy and killed his two kids for revenge. A very very sad story and still the father says he is not criminally responsible has he declared not remembering anything of it. He became the beast while doing this irreversible act of violence. The whole story had quite an impact on the population who were outraged with the verdict.”

The tracks on “La Bestia” were produced mainly by guitarist Jef Fortin as well as Colin Richardson who also produced 1999’s ‘Instinct’ and Jean-Francois Dagenais (Kataklysm) who produced 2006’s ‘Chapter Chaos Begins’. The album also features the bilingual song “Violencia Versus Violence” with the participation of Carlos Maldos of Lethal Creation (MX) and Arno Dhenain Le Bourhis of Black Bomb A (FR) along with a second bilingual track “Tierra” with Marco Calliari singing in Italian.

With over 2.5 million streams on Spotify, Anonymus is showing no signs of slowing down. Fans of thrash metal standbys such as Slayer and Testament will no doubt be intrigued by this new offering.

About:

Anonymus is a Canadian thrash metal band that explodes on stage with each presence, that pulls you in with its passion and that yells at you with corrosive and violent texts that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Since their first release in 1994, Anonymus has made its mark on the Quebec music scene. From the beginning, the group has been well received while demonstrating its brutal sound and technique that has continually evolved over the years. Oscar Souto (vocals, bass) Daniel Souto (guitar, vocals) Carlos Araya (drums), Jef Fortin (guitar since 2006) and Marco Calliari (vocals, guitar from 1994 to 2006) have since widely traveled the roads of their country, participated in the deprivation of Mononc’Serge and continue today to ignite stages everywhere they go. These veterans of the metal scene continue to proudly carry the torch after 20 years of chaos and barbaric music.

Forever hungry for metal, everyone in Anonymus brings ideas to the table. Sometimes it is a whole song or just the beginnings of one, yet together the band works to create a full thrashy anthem from the pieces, working on it until it is complete. The music always comes first, and when the ambiance is formulated, the lyrics, which come from a personal place and from current events, can be added.

Unstoppable and indestructible, inspired by bands like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax; Anonymus is nothing short of the powerful, aggressive and technical thrash metal that they have been refining for decades exemplified on their impressive discography of both French and English releases, which includes: “Ni vu, ni connu” (1994); Stress (1996); Instinct (1999); Daemonium (2002); Academie du Massacre (2003); Chapter Chaos Begins (2006); Musique Barbare (2008); État Brute (2011); Envers et contre tous (2015); P.O.M.M.E (2017); Sacrifices (2019); and their first-ever Spanish album La Bestia (2020) due out June 12 via label Bam&co Heavy.

Today, Anonymus does not need a presentation. This institution of the Quebec metal industry has been offering for twenty-six years, a passion for dark notes and unrivaled power. The offer is still valid. With more than 1500 career shows under their belt, Anonymus is completely in their element when performing in front of fans, they offer only their absolute best ensuring the crowd is moving. Having shared the stage with metal great such as Anthrax, Cannibal Corpse, and Kataklysm at festivals such as Heavy Montreal, Montebello, and through international tours, they are no strangers to a wild show.

ANONYMUS FOLLOWS ITS PATH, AGAINST ALL ODDS!

Edmonton death metal duo Tales of The Tomb have been a two-man wrecking crew for a while now with Trez Thomas (Guitar and Vocals) and Corey Skerlak (Guitar and Vocals), but earlier this month they announced they have become a trio with the addition of bassist Jonnii Guns. Over the last few months, the band has been unleashing guitar and bass playthrough videos in support of their latest EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” unleashed this past September.

Today, the band reveals their next duo guitar playthrough for the track “The Nightmare Hall”, which can be viewed via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Guitarist Tres Thomas comments:

“‘The Nightmare Hall’ is one of the most technical songs we have written as of yet. It’s so amazing to finally release the playthrough for this song to showcase the merciless riffs in this duo playthrough. The video also features every guitar that was on the album, and more!”

Tales of The Tomb‘s latest EP “Volume Two: Mendicium” is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies, and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. It’s also a vicious bite of grinding blast beats, technical shredding accompanied by venomous guttural lows. It was mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitarist and head engineer/owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson along with featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.

The EP is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.  Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (guitar, vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

“Overall, I recommend this album to death metal fans of all varieties. It is a fun album with a lot of great riffs. Also, I highly recommend reading the lyrics and learning about the conspiracy theories behind the songs.” – Metal Temple

“Volume Two: Mendacium is six songs of punishing metal fit for listeners with the heaviest of taste. Whether you’re spending time carving pumpkins or watching slasher movies this Halloween season, be sure to make room on your playlist for Tales of the Tomb.” – Surviving The Golden Age

” Their new, independently released EP is heavy as ice and laced up with razor-sharp production. Volume Two: Mendacium is a non-stop frosty riff fest, delivered on a moose-poutine platter of awesome production thanks to the Canucks over at The Grid. Slapshot your wallets & pick up this death metal gem.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“The need to head bang is strong with this one, and it made for an excellent addition to my Death Metal library.” – New-Transcendence

“All in all, Tales of the Tomb’s latest installment is a rather subtle tale that is more akin to a destructive musical journey through morbid lyrical themes and passages.” – Metal Trenches

July Will Feel Cold WINTER NIGHTS With The Release Of New Self-Titled Album

Premiere First Single “When December Burns” via GhostCultMag

Efrain Farfan – Back up Vocals and Guitar, Jeremy Farfan – Vocals and Guitar

New York’s Winter Nights have a new album slated for release July 31st, and the mainstays of the local scene are amped to be showing fans the result of years of hard work.

The self-titled album comes after the 2014 release “An Endless Apocalypse” and brings with it, more dreary lyrics and melodic metal music. The album was recorded between 2015 and 2018 at Atomic Sound in Brooklyn, New York. When asked how they expect fans to respond to the new work, they respond:

“Well, very well. We’ve once again offered something different than our previous work. We are looking to conjure the feeling of dread, and remembrance. We hope they can relate to it in one way or another.”

The first single from the album is “When December Burns”, which according to the band is about the idea of being taken over by an emotion, an entity if you will, disconnecting from society.

Vocalist / guitarist Jeremy Farfan elaborates:

“When this song was written it was meant to be a super-fast almost thrash death type of vibe. one rehearsal, lead guitarist Efrain busted out with a tapping lick that resonated through our studio. it was then we knew this song had to have a certain harmonic feeling. taking the tempo down and accenting on the tapping lick, we built something new to us and what feels like the next step of the band. The idea behind this song is self-immolation (death by setting oneself on fire). Through the album, we explore various ways of offing yourself so to speak. It stems from a dream Lead singer Jeremy had where he climbed to the top of a tall hill, turned back to see the world burning, and decided to go out in flames as well. As usual, though, he wakes up right before he loses consciousness. He remembers to this day the burning feeling creating bliss”

The primary themes in the album relate to the feeling of being stuck on the idea of death. The lyrics are a sort of metaphor of losing someone and / or taking your own life for one purpose or another.

For fans of Kalmah, Death, and Amon Amarth, the single is premiering via GhostCultMag HERE.

The self-titled album debuts on July 31, 2020 and is available for pre-order here.

Track Listing:
1. When December Burns (5:47)
2. Starved For Energy (4:09)
3. Withdrawals (4:11)
4. Unmarked Grave (4:52)

About:
Winter Nights is a four-piece melodic death metal band emanating from Brooklyn, New York in the winter of 2007. The sound and lyrical themes of their music portray loss, pain, grievance, and darkness.

Guitar driven melodies evoke visceral reactions to the mythic end of the world. They are an integral part of the thriving New York metal scene. As of 2020, their formation consists of dueling guitar brothers Jeremy and Efrain Farfan who also cover vocals, bassist Martin Tune and drummer James Yarusinsky.

The two Farfan brothers came up with the idea for the band after a New Years’ toast and after recruiting a friend they started writing music together and the rest is history. Trading endless amounts of riffs the Farfan brothers devise the majority of the music before presenting it to the rest of the band to be beefed out in the rehearsal studio.

Mainly inspired by nature, places of travel. different scenery. Jeremy gets his ideas from places he’s traveled such as the cliffs of northern Ireland, catacombs of Montreal, nighttime canals of Venice, and the eerie silence of Central Park at night.

Playing with similar bands such as Kalmah, Belphegor, and Insomnium, and on festivals including Maryland Folkfest and Poconos Folkfest, Winter Nights is a mainstay in the New York metal underground. With personal influences rooted primarily in metal, the members of Winter Nights make provocative, despairing, genuine songs. In 2008 they released a self-titled demo EP, followed by another EP “From Darkness Till Dawn” in 2011, and a full length “An Endless Apocalypse” in 2014. 2020 brings a new self-titled album due out July 31st.

– 30 –

“‘Encounters of the Frozen North’ has a lot of thundering, jolting power along with some killer riffs and a dark, somewhat Eastern-influenced melody that worms its way into your head. The music is capped by jagged, tyrannical vocals that make a powerful impact and by a serpentine solo that underscores the reptilian menace lurking within the song.” – No Clean Singing

“The floor of the venue was already seething with eager humanity as local opening act Winter Nights took the stage to kick things off. Sometimes the warm-up acts accomplish little more than to give fans a chance to hit the merch stands or catch up with friends, but the creative vision of Jeremy and Efrain Farfan demanded attention with their tight, more brutal take on Melodic Death Metal. Harsh vocals combined with technical playing and some ultra-melodic guitar leads kept fans engaged and cheering after each song. Winter Nights has been around since 2007, having recently released full-length album An Endless Apocalypse in July of last year. Something like Grave and Amon Amarth meets mid ’90’s Carcass with some mosh-inducing breakdowns defines their sound, with the highlight of the set being the killer “Doomsday Code” and “Deceptive Dreams.”” – Cryptic Rock (Live Review 2015 opening for Dark Tranquility)

“With a distinct Scandinavian flair, but coupled with a bit of the ole US brutality, theirs is a nice melding of catchy older melodic death metal here (read: no watered down pop choruses or the like). “The Doomsday Code” is the cut of choice, with it’s all out thrashy approach that is sure to get the adrenaline pumping and features a solid solo towards the end and even touches upon some black metal influences as well. There’s plenty here that should appeal to fans of anything from Amon Amarth, Arsis, or Dark Tranquillity” – Dead Rhetoric (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“a strong debut. The album highlights the bands strong points and shows they can be both intense, brutal and then melodic at just the right moments. It will be interesting to see how they evolve in the coming year. Be sure to listen to their previous demo releases and support them at a venue near you.” – Artemortifica (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“The diversified riffs are once more the proof for the skills of WINTER NIGHTS. Very professional and dedicated recording. I can only recommend “An Endless Apocalypse“ to each Metalhead!” – Battlepig (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

“This band may hail from the streets of NYC, but after listening to this album I’m convinced Winter Nights sailed here from Scandinavia in a giant ship to claim New York as their raiding territory!” – Up From The Underground Reviews (Album Review 2014 – An Endless Apocalypse)

Seattle Progressive Melodic Death Metal DRAEMORA Streaming Debut EP “Awakening” via MetalInjection

Debut EP “Awakening” Out June 26th via Ultra Nast Records

Relatively new to the Seattle metal scene, Draemora is comprised of seasoned musicians who, despite COVID-19 slowing their debut, are ready to show the nation and the world their debut EP “Awakening” due out Friday, June 26, 2020, via Ultra Nast Records.

Before the EP officially drops, the band is sharing its full stream premiere via MetalInjection HERE.

“Awakening” is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics. This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins elaborates the story behind the writing of “Awakening”:

“It’s intense and beautiful.  It’s angry, sad, and uplifting and I think it is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.  The majority of the lyrics are a culmination of direct excerpts from letters, poems, and life experiences from the period between May 2018 and August 2019.  It was a very intense time in my life.  A relationship I had been in for 10 years was falling apart due to my addiction problems and I had just got sober at the end of April 2018.  Being sober after being intoxicated and high for 16 years was like living in a different world all together.  I had to finally face all of the things I had put off for a very long time and it was like I was learning how to do everything in my life all over again.  I used lyrics and music to channel a lot of those feelings and get it out.  When I was in the beginning, I relied on listening to a few specific metal albums to keep me from slipping into the dark, and without those pieces of music, I may not be walking the earth right now.  I was going to keep this stuff to myself but, the realization that I needed to feel like I wasn’t alone by listening to music that spoke candidly about the same things that I was going through almost forced me to share my stories and others stories on this EP with someone else who is going through the same stuff.”

Recommended for fans of Strapping Young Lad, Whitechapel, and Nevermore, Draemora‘s “Awakening” is available Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play pre-save HERE.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

About:

Draemora was formed in November 2019 in the Seattle, USA area by Terry Jenkins (vocals/guitar) after his separation from his previous band Odyssian. Seeing it as an opportunity to take a chance and try something different, he wrote a handful of songs with lyrics and demoed them out at his house. These demos attracted the attention of soon to be bandmate, ex-Jesus Wears Armani drummer Jared Conelie and ex-Odyssian vocalist Taylor Wood.

After fleshing out the demos with their own personal touches on the songs, Jenkins found local guitar player Max Taylor and set out to record the 5 song EP “Awakening”.

The EP is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics; This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

“This EP lyrically is all about battles with drugs and alcohol and the long journey out of that hell.  I feel that it will connect with anyone who has ever had mental problems, family problems, or experienced relationships falling apart. I didn’t want to come across as disingenuous, or contrived and wrote about things that I really went through and put my life and my problems out there for anyone to interact with as they wish. I think this recording is intense and beautiful.  It’s angry and sad and uplifting and I think is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.” says Jenkins.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

Their debut EP “Awakening” is due out June 26, 2020 via Ultra Nast Records and will be available on all major digital platforms.

Relive The Sleazy And Sexy Underbelly Of The Toronto DIY Punk Scene With Sean DeCory’s Photobook

Exploring the true nature of DIY punk in 2008-2013, Sean DeCory presents a compilation of some of his favourite work that showcases many stories from famed bands, grungy venues, and the colourful people who cemented the underground of Toronto.

The book features infamous performances by renowned bands from Toronto and far beyond – Burning Love, La Dispute, S.H.I.T., Column of Heaven, Animal Faces, Monarch. The emphasis, however, is placed squarely on the spaces where these shows took place; spaces that were integral in the creation and facilitation of the modern Toronto music scene by hosting shows no one else would at a price accessible to everyone. As is often the case, these venues are gone now, and the exit wound they produced is impossible to fill.

The 180 pages, softcover book features photographs of the Toronto DIY punk scene as well as biographies of some of the most infamous DIY venues in the city: Siesta Nouveaux, the Brohaus, and Soybomb. It has over 160 full colour documentary-style photographs of wild shows, amazing bands, and the people who inhabited these spaces.

The foreword by Lance Marwood – who lived in the Brohaus, one of the spaces featured reflects on the impact and importance of what took place during that time in Toronto. The book closes with short biographies of the spaces featured as well as quotes and stories from the author’s interviews with Jay Wydra of Soybomb and Lynne Rafter of Siesta Nouveaux.

Toronto DIY (2008-2013) is an important collection of photographs and writing. Documenting places that – for a time – played a vital role in the Toronto music scene and captured a community of disaffected young adults at a time when the city around them was at peak turmoil.

Toronto DIY (2008-2013) can be ordered for $35 CAD from DeCory’s website: https://seandecory.com/2020/05/12/toronto-diy-2008-2013/

About:

Sean DeCory is a documentary and event photographer from Toronto, On. He has photographed professionally for major Canadian news publications and his work has been featured by Maximum Rock’n’Roll, Blog TO, Stolen Ground Publishing, and Decibel Magazine. He enjoys shooting documentary-style photos of people and culture as well as creating long-form photography projects on subjects that interest him.

Toronto DIY (2008-2013) was originally a weekend project while studying photojournalism at Loyalist College but over the years grew into a much larger collection with a much more urgent narrative as the venues were one by one forced to close.

0 Canada’s Turbo Unleash Quarantine Music Video For “Make Bail” Off Upcoming Album “Fast As Fvck”

Canada’s Turbo Unleash Quarantine Music Video For “Make Bail” Off Upcoming Album “Fast As Fvck”

Another band who has been making good use of quarantine time is Canada’s Turbo who have recorded a music video for the single “Make Bail” off their upcoming album “Fast As Fvck”.

Filmed in true DIY style, the video shows the members in each of their houses, and with a little help from filmmaker and videographer Neil Hunt, the video came together better than the band expected. The boys in Turbo definitely deserve an Oscar for their work in this music video, but in case the awards are cancelled they have prepared the following statement about the focus behind the video:

“When COVID-19 was on the rise and the quarantine hit in full-force, everyone was trapped inside and bored on a biblical scale. Shows were cancelled, tours were cancelled, and we had to come up with a fun backup-plan and fast. We decided on a DIY music video, and it only took a very short conversation and a coy laugh before  we agreed that a song called “Make Bail” was almost too good of a fit for the “Stay The Blazes Home” breakout-of-your-house video we had in mind.”

As with most ideas Turbo has, the origin behind the “Make Bail” video is kind of humorous. Make Bail was the first song they ever wrote as a band at their very first rehearsal, while the idea of the band was still just a mild thought in the minds of these east coast thrashers. Bad breakups lead to the guys writing a good old fashioned “Go F*ck Yourself” getting rid of you type song.

For fans of Motorhead, W.A.S.P., and Kill Cheerleader; Turbo is like your dishevelled uncle on Christmas morning; Turbo is trashed, pissed off, sleazy, mean, and sick of your shit.

The video for “Make Bail” is on YouTube now HERE.

About:

Like your disheveled uncle on Christmas morning, Turbo is trashed, pissed off, sleazy, mean, and sick of your shit. Coming at you hard and fast from the east coast of Canada, rages Turbo. An eclectic mix of rock, punk, and metal, this is what would happen if nitroglycerin had a soundtrack. High impact is the name of the game for them and they are bringing the grit to listeners around the world.

With 100% collaborative effort, the themes that fuel Turbo lyrics revolve around personal experiences or things that just come up while they’re writing the music to a particular piece. The focus is that all the bandmates are able to relate to everything they sing about. It’s real, edgy, and visceral.

The highly potent debut album “Fast as Fvck” is on the way for 2020; metal enough for the heshers, punk enough for the threshers, and rocking enough to satiate the haughtiest of purest; welcome to Turbo’s patented “Nitro-Rock”.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 23, 2020

For fans of Intervals, Plini, Polyphia, Periphery, CHON

Crack A Cold Beverage And Drink Up Summer With “Pop A Soda” From The Dead Centuries Featuring Jacob Umansky (Intervals)

The Dead Centuries have a new standalone single out entitled “Pop A Soda”, it is the first track to be released from the band with guitarist Jacob McSheffrey as a writer. It’s the first step in the direction of more hook oriented, catchy songs.

“We’re extremely excited to release this track as we feel it marks a big step forward in terms of songwriting, composition, playing, and production. We think the sonic depth in “Pop A Soda” is more interesting, ear-catching, and rewarding than previous efforts from the band, and we think listeners will love the caliber of this track. The inclusion of Jacob Umansky (Intervals/JIA) on bass brings another element to the track that helped us get closer to our vision.”

“Pop A Soda” was recorded in Jacob’s home studio, with the exception of bass, which was written and performed by Jacob Umanksy of Intervals. The band reached out to Jacob via email asking if he would provide bass for the track, sent the track over and what you hear on the track is the first take that he sent them. Jacob also provided a video clip of him playing a section of the track, which highlights his unique approach to playing bass.

The Dead Centuries released an EP in 2018, “Race Against Time” and in their opinion, this single is the best material the band has released to date. It is energetic, upbeat, and technical and builds upon the foundation of “Race Against Time” to add more melody, hooks, and catchy riffs, which is what fans have come to expect from The Dead Centuries.

More is to come from The Dead Centuries, as they plan to continue to release singles to keep new fresh music coming to fans, reflecting their ever-evolving approach to music and songwriting.

For fans of Intervals, Plini and Polyphia the video for “Pop A Soda” is on YouTube – HERE.

About:

Visionary and highly influential writer Michael Moorcock, who worked with the bands Hawkwind and Blue Oyster Cult, memorably stated that ‘it is the business of the future to be dangerous.’

Ottawa three-piece The Dead Centuries are both futuristic and dangerous…which is as it should be. Influenced by Protest The Hero, Periphery, Paul Gilbert, Sithu Aye and Intervals, The Dead Centuries can easily hold their heads up in such exalted company. In their current form, The Dead Centuries compose and perform technically precise instrumental music, rich in virtuosity, melody, compositional skills, and most importantly…they create superb music to listen to. This isn’t the sound of three musicians showing off their undoubted skills, rather they are serving their songs above all else, with every fiber of their beings, every neuron firing in their minds, every tendon in their bodies.

In a sense, it is as if the three musicians that make up The Dead Centuries have become one mind in their own music! Adam Tremblett describes the sound of The Dead Centuries as “technical, melodic, energetic, heavy, precise.” Indeed The Dead Centuries are so precise, they are like some kind of cosmic clock; they are always on time.

The Dead Centuries had a natural evolution into the special band they are now, originally consisting of two guitarists, a bassist, female vocalist, and drummer; as members leftover time, those that remained rose to the occasion and created more technical and original music.

“The music video for The Mill is a fleeting summary of the entire album’s concept. Showcasing the 2 main characters among the hundreds of others subtly embodied by Kenny throughout the live shows and various media appearances.”  adds JH’s Grant MacKenzie (Guitar, Bass, Synth).

“Bereavement” is the continuation of the storyline from both previous releases. The band further explains:

“A man with unimaginable global power sends important members of his family and society away to a habitable world outside of our solar system in order to salvage humanity. As capable as this man is of salvaging humanity’s dying society on Earth, he finds more solace in the greed and power he has inherited. Victim of his lifelong internal battle with mental instability, he leaves humanity to extinction on Earth. Struggling with this outcome, he sends himself and his ship aimlessly into space, attempts suicide, and crashes on a planet in another solar system. Upon awakening, he realizes where he is, and that he will soon meet the remaining faces that have abandoned him, just as he abandoned them, and they’re hungry.”

The duo of Grant MacKenzie (Guitar, Bass, Synth) and Kenny Parry (Vocals, Drums, Piano, Synth) that form Jupiter Hollow are here to create an artistic experience unlike anything else in the industry. Inspired from the art of storytelling and adventure, they intend on taking you through an in-depth journey through their discography and encourage listeners to join them for every step along the way. Get ready as Jupiter Hollow will take you on a musical tour, from the studio to the stage, and every place in between. About:

We are Jupiter Hollow. Some people consider us to be alternative metal, some people consider us to be progressive rock, and some people just like what they hear. We don’t believe in genre; we believe genre is an excuse to pigeonhole our sound. For us, we prefer to keep our options open.

When you hear Jupiter Hollow you may feel an overwhelming sense of space, arrangement and instrumentation. However, behind the music there are just 2 humans: Kenny Parry and Grant MacKenzie. We met on Earth in the year of 2015 at a musical gathering, where the universe inevitably conceived Jupiter Hollow. Since then, we’ve expressed part one of a conceptual endeavor called “AHDOMN”. This story is to be continued with the release of our new record “Bereavement” on June 12, 2020.

As for what Jupiter Hollow sounds like, that’s for you to determine. We don’t care what we sound like, since we don’t have control over our destiny. Our path is written, but we must walk it. Therefore, the music has already been created in the future, and we are messengers of the present.

We are from Earth, from your future. Moving forward through time is to move forward through space. We are evolutionary descendants of our past, we evolve from our actions. Jupiter Hollow is here to share the missing link of your human existence.

Homicide – Left For Dead (2020)

Publicist – Jon Asher – asher[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“Heavy Thrash Speed Metal”

For fans of Slayer, Motorhead, Exodus, Death, Sodom

Album Title: Left for Dead
Release Date: August 21, 2020
Label: Self-Release

Facebook.com/homicidemontreal | Homicide4.bandcamp.com

“They specialize in Old School Crossover Thrash and returning nearly 25 years later with their sophomore album “Left For Dead” they clearly have some unfinished business.” – Metal Noise

L-R – Bryan Donahue – Guitar, Mac – Bass, Scotty – Drums, and at bottom Gab – Vocals / Guitar

Formed in Montreal in the extremely vibrant metal/hardcore/crossover music scene of the early

1990’s, Homicide was, at the time, an amalgamation of members from other heavy-hitting bands on the scene who had developed strong followings and solid reputations in their own right. Gab Morency of Corrupted Youth (guitar/vocals) and Bryan Donahue of Damaged (guitar) began writing together after discovering that they had similar heavy influences and interests such as Motorhead, Slayer and Venom.

Morency had been renting a room in an extensive apartment building that also housed the jam space of local heavyweights Lizard. This is where the raucous rhythm section of Greg Mcleary (bass) and Scotty MacCulloch (drums) of Lizard heard the riffs from Morency and Donahue and decided that they had to join in on the heaviness that was transpiring.

After a period of only a few weeks, Homicide had begun recording what would be their first album “Malice and Forethought”. This catapulted them into the scene, where they played alongside and held their own with the likes of Voivod, Death and Merciful Fate just to name a few. These performances granted Homicide a reputation for one of the best live bands performing on the scene with crowd pleasers such as “Bring Back the Rope” about lax capital punishment policies and “Death Train” giving a nod to the devastation of terrorism in the poison gassing of a Japanese subway line.

With a sound that can be coined as “Apocalyptic Thrash”, Homicide went underground for many years and it was presumed that the band was no longer. However, 2020 brought the band members together again they recorded a new album “Left For Dead” which compared to the first album will be like going from light beer to moonshine. Homicide is back and fully amped to be bringing fast, aggressive to new and old fans around the world.

Homicide’s “Left For Dead” is due out August 21, 2020.

The album as a whole explained by Gabriel Morency – Vocals / Guitar:

It has a very live feel to it. It was done somewhat live. There was a flatbed that was recorded live for this and then it was layered, but not a lot of layers. It’s funny cause we’re in Metal Works studios in Toronto and you know they have done the Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, Alexisonfire, Guns n’ Roses. Use Your Illusion was done there. So you sort of figure obviously, we didn’t have the same producers, but you’re going to go there and it’s going to sound kind of packaged or get that kind of commercial sort of metal sound and to the credit the producer (Wayne Cochrane ) was anti. To be honest, I and Bryan, let’s add another layer and another layer. We wanted to get fancy and he was like keep it raw, keep it raw. We sort of found that balance of solid professional production and raw metal sound. Sometimes less is more. When we came in we had the amps cranked and he was like dear God! You guys have a lot of feedback and noise you don’t need. I and Bryan didn’t realize how much buzzing and humming we had. You start cranking pedals and Marshals there’s a lot of noise being made.

Track By Track explained:

1. Shot to Hell
A track about gambling addition leading to drinking and depression, it’s a powerhouse that points the finger and pity’s the fool while acting as a warning shot at the same time.

2. Point Blank Range
Increasing the tempo with “Point Blank Range”, which is a classic driving song of raw sounding old school riffs and some more solos. Who said the solo was dead? They lied. The lyrics maybe simple enough but they’re crowd fodder for chanting and will go down a storm in that regard.

3. Left For Dead
The title track is perhaps a reference to the band’s absence for the last 25 years with lyrical references to a phoenix rising from the ashes, it makes the best use of staccato riffs and jack hammer footwork to get its message across while the evil laughter in the fade will crack a smile on the face of even the most hardened of Metal Heads.

4.  Enemy of The State
Taking the melodic atmospheric route before kicking in full throttle after a couple of minutes of build-up “Enemy Of The State” then goes full on Municipal Waste as Morency rants and raves about the Government making up conspiracy theories to cover up their actions. It’s a classic headbanger of a cut with short bursts of solo work to keep you on your toes.

5 Nightmares Of The Apocalypse
This is going to be a fast one and rips through like a tornado of destruction as it forewarns of a black future at breakneck speed. Who needs a neck? It’s an old school Corrupted Youth song. We were in a band Corrupted Youth before Homicide In the old station ten rising sun days. Playing with Fatal Illness before they were Grim Skunk, Fair Warning, and all those bands. This is a song we use to play that we just can’t get out of our system, so we had to record it again.

6. Scorched Earth
Sarcasm and tongue in cheek humor are dropped in favor of a frantic and frenetic riff attack. A tale of the end of days with Nuclear blasts and their fallout wiping out humanity, it’s a fierce rager

7. Scourge of God
This track gets things off to a fine start and is a reminder of just how good the storytelling style of Morency is as he delivers a tale of the wrath of God. Mid-tempo evil chugs keep things going nicely and the riffs pay homage to the Bay Area Thrash scene with a nostalgic tooth gap grin while that whammy bar drop is a nice touch. It’s one of those tracks that cut at a point when it could happily go on for another few minutes and that’s always the hall mark of quality.
