Eaten by Sharks has been lurking in the dark for the past couple of years while the world was locked down, waiting patiently to unleash their second album “Eradication” upon unsuspecting listeners. That time has come, they have recently released the album and are following it up with a guitar playthrough video for the track “Kill and Consume”. This is a first-hand look at the song which washes over the listener boasting a slammy, black metal feels, a slick Revocation type jazzy middle eight, and a simple message – don’t eat shark soup less you become cursed for poor choices. They explain what they are like in the flesh:

“It’s tight as nails and loud as fuck. We are very lucky to have Justin as the backbone of the band, he hits so fucking hard we have to crank our amps to 11. We spend a lot of time working on our songs at rehearsal so you get a good clear punch in the face. If we can’t hear the riffs when the sound hits the air in rehearsal, it’s time to tweak structure or tone until it makes sense.”

The band says that they can’t wait for their fans to hear the album and this playthrough video adds to the experience that is Eaten By Sharks. The production on “Eradication” blows their last release “We’re Gonna Need A Bigger Boat” (2013) out of the water and it clearly shows they have poured blood, sweat, and tears into this offering. This is partially due to tight musicianship, and dedication as well as Christian Donaldson’s expertise in capturing a mammoth sound that will keep the listeners coming back for more.

Eaten By Sharks lean into their nautical hell narrative, and set out to rattle your existence like a mega-tsunami. They are recommended listening for fans of Despised Icon, Fit For An Autopsy, and Cattle Decapitation.

“If you’re new to the group, they’re from Ontario, and like the majority of Canadian tech-death bands, they’re damn good at what they do. Don’t let the goofy band name and oddball cover art fool you, this is not amateur hour stuff… As for what the song has to offer, “Depth Charge” is built on continual flipping back and forth between heavy groove terrain and frenetic riffs aided by ripping leads. In doing so, the song feels almost wave-like in its structure, an ever-changing stream of back and forth battling going on underwater. From the time I’ve spent listening to the full release, this is definitely an album many of you will enjoy.” – Metal Injection

“Eaten By Sharks bring aquatic brutality to Technical Death Metal… Eradication should be of great interest to fans of bands like Fit For An Autopsy, Cattle Decapitation, and Revocation and will be available as a CD or digital download. So take my advice, stay out of the water, go grab a copy and let the feeding frenzy begin upon some other unsuspecting victims.” – Metal Talk

“Eradication is an absolute blast and one that hits just as hard as you want it to, and is just as serious as you want an album from a band called Eaten By Sharks to be. I wholeheartedly recommend this beast and hope that you have fun listening to it. I did.” – Noob Heavy

“I just discovered Eaten by Sharks, and the band is a good surprise. Their mix of several styles focused on raw violence and devastating technicality makes Eradication an explosive and extremely effective album.” Acta Infernalis

“Combining new and old Death Metal influences, Eaten By Sharks have proven themselves to be a cut above the competition at the top of the food chain ” – Metal Noise

Canada’s Eaten By Sharks has been lying in wait to release their new album “Eradication” and the time has come for it to ascend to the surface. Album-wise, it’s a diverse combination of songs pulling from their influences in death, tech, and thrash metal. Each song has something different from the next one but it stays in line with the metal. The band comments about the record:

“We are so excited to set sail with the release of “Eradication!” The fact that it is being released and streaming have us stoked that our hard work gets the sendoff it deserves. We pull from various elements of thrash, Death-core, Traditional Death Metal, Tech-metal, and Hardcore and match that up with the horrors of the deep. Each of the songs on the EP has a different approach to our influences, however, it retains a solid instrumental and lyrical theme throughout the tracks. Conceptually, we keep things on the water and embrace the image of the fear and respect that comes from the breach of a single dorsal fin.”

“Eradication” toes the line of music and concept, metal meets shark. The album delivers seven tracks, lyrically depicting the horrors of mankind using oceanic imagery. Eaten By Sharks puts their best fin forward, pulling out all the stops to get the listener to drop anchor and experience the package as a whole. Lots of tasty treats await the discerning metal fan through their instrumental approach, as they progressively chomp through each song with razor-sharp riffs and bone-crunching rhythms.

“Eradication” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy) and the album artwork was done by Shindy Design. Eaten By Sharks is recommended for anyone brave enough to dive headfirst into the horror as well as fans of Gojira, Despised Icon, and Fit For An Autopsy.

0 DEFORMATORY Shares Making of Video For New EP “Harbinger” Produced By Topon Das (F*ck The Facts); “Harbinger” Due Out Sept 13th

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 24, 2022

DEFORMATORY Shares Making of Video For New EP “Harbinger” Produced By Topon Das (F*ck The Facts)

“Harbinger” Due Out Sept 13th

From their destructive 2013 debut “In The Wake of Pestilence”, on through to their crushing 2016 follow-up “Malediction” and into the vortex of insanity from their 2021 masterpiece “Inversion of the Unseen Horizon”, Deformatory unrelentingly summon their creative darkness to deliver another slab of ferocious Canadian death metal. Without acquiescing to the weakness of modern metal, they reach deep into the abyss of infernal intensity to deliver a new offering of blistering madness entitled “Harbinger”.

For Deformatory, all audio and visual content is carefully crafted with the utmost care, ensuring that listeners are given only the best experience, a punishing onslaught of riffs, devastating vocals, and chest-pounding drums – all delivered with no frills, no bullshit, just pure death metal. The production was handled by Topon Das of F*ck The Facts at his studio Apartment 2 Recording in Ottawa, ON, which the band explains in further detail:

“Das impeccably captured the essence and intensity of Deformatory’s vision. Every nuance has been brought to light, mixed, and mastered without sacrificing integrity in order to fit into the modern standards of extreme music. All instruments are real fucking instruments and each can be discerned without the overproduced wall of plugins and tone packs we have unfortunately grown accustomed to hearing today. There is an eerie atmosphere that lurks throughout this EP and it can be heard clearly through every string, growl, and cymbal.”

Deformatory keeps it simple and traditional, their writing process is organic, with no click tracks or guitar pro files – they just jam until a sickening track reveals itself. Sometimes it just takes an hour or two for them to discover a sound that will demolish the room and melt faces, they are already 4 songs deep into the next album, so fans can expect a new record sooner than they would hope for.

A sonically relentless death metal experience, Deformatory is worthy listening for those whom enjoy Angelcorpse, Vitriol, and old Cryptopsy.

The short video on the making of “Harbinger” is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/PNHY9haU05

“Harbinger” is being released on September 13, 2022.

“A maniacal riff-fest colliding with pulverizing drumming and grotesquely executed vocals, Impaled Upon The Carrionspire is a memorable journey into a modern death metal portal of chaos. This is beyond a brutal wall of sound; it’s an experience that hooks you in, and guides you through everything you can expect to hear on the new album.” – Metal Injection

“Taking cues from the tech-est and brutal-est of brutal technical death metal, the duo from Canada’s capital have offered up a shining gut punch that sings, screams, wallops, growls and races in the same vein as genre masterclass mainstays as Immolation, Suffocation, Cryptopsy, Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal and Origin. Plus, their name fucking rules!” – Decibel Magazine

“Brutally punchy and laced with annihilating streaks of black metal, cosmic machinations are put into bone-snapping focus through the band’s unrelenting technical death metal.” – Invisible Oranges

“Let’s cut to the chase: Imagine filling a syringe with unadulterated adrenaline, sticking it straight into your carotid artery, and jamming the plunger down with as much force as you can muster. That’s the effect of listening to DEFORMATORY… The whole thing is breathtaking in its careening and cavorting violence.” – No Clean Singing

The ocean is a vast, unforgiving world where things can go horribly awry. This is the topic of Eaten By Sharks’ latest single “Dead Weight” off the upcoming album “Eradication” – a technical death metal horror story that takes a deep dive into the gruesome possibilities that can result from daring to enter the untamed sea.

The single hits quickly, revealing some of the hells we face out on the open waters, alone out in the elements, what will you do to survive? What would you do in the fight for your life while battling infection and madness? Will you leave a trail of carnage behind you? These questions are presented alongside down-picked speed chugging, odd times, progressive movements, and a punishing ending. The band comments on the song:

“’Dead Weight’ is the follow-up to the punishing groove of ‘Shallow Water’. No intro, No standing around, just straight into the madness! This song is the fastest that we offer on the album, the most aggressive and progressive. Lyrically, Matt whips up another nautical disaster story, shipwrecked and alone. To what atrocities man will resort, to stay alive? His vocals are put to task, he keeps up to tempo, pulls out all the stops, and delivers yet another perfectly matched vocal performance, punctuated with a squeal that slurps up the grime from the deepest trench that the ocean has to offer.”

Eaten By Sharks was hatched out of a desire to start a punishing metal project and as soon as the moment was right, the heavy techy riffs started flowing. Adding blast beats and breakdowns to them along with a healthy appetite for horror movies, the band was formed with a campy nautical horror theme and serious musicianship.

With elements of slam, thrash and deathcore, Eaten By Sharks up the ante when it comes to technical death metal. Fans of Cattle Decapitation, Revocation, and Gojira will be especially interested in testing the waters.

“Servants of the Outer Dark” is the debut record by Vancouver death metal monsters Thirteen Goats. They invite you to join them on a sonic trip down the most twisted sections of extreme metal’s memory lane on a journey to wicked new horizons. According to the band, the album is a love letter to old-school Florida death metal and classic 80s thrash, with nods to everything from modern melodeath and tech death to groove metal and grindcore peppered in along the way. It’s also an attempt to take the best ideas from those genres and combine them in ways people haven’t heard before. The band explains further:

“These songs have given us an opportunity to take all the things that really excited us about the metal we grew up listening to—the music that strengthened, soothed, and sometimes saved us—and make those things our own. Our goal with this record is to take listeners back to where they were when they first fell in love with heavy music, but also remind them that plenty of new and exciting metal is still being made.”

“Servants of the Outer Dark” is nine tracks of blast beats, riffs, and catchy solos; thematically, they range from personal to political, and from serious to straight-up silly in places. However, the band hopes that between all of them, a multidimensional portrait is formed—a display of their musical abilities and ambitions, the things they have a sense of humour about, and the things they don’t (see the video for Return to Ruin, which takes aim at the way world leaders are handling everything from COVID-19 to Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine). Above all, every idea that’s on this record is here because it made the band members’ hearts beat a bit faster and their blood pump a bit quicker. They hope to provide the same experience for everyone who gives the album a spin.

Thirteen Goats is a band whose musical chemistry and devotion to all things heavy eclipse their loyalty to specific genre conventions or themes; an outspoken group of self-professed “extreme metal geeks” who are unafraid to go anywhere or try anything in the pursuit of an iconic riff or unforgettable hook. They name classic death metal bands like Carcass and Deicide among their influences, but they’ve also been described as sounding like “Vulgar Display of Power-era Pantera in a cage match with Cannibal Corpse and Ministry.”

“Servants of the Outer Dark” is streaming on Decibel as of June 30 and will be officially released on July 1, 2022.

About:
Eclectic, over-the-top, and just a little weird, THIRTEEN GOATS takes cues from some of extreme metal’s most infamous acts (Death, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse) to create a tongue-in-cheek blend of different genre hallmarks that’s as hooky as it is heavy. This ain’t your dad’s death metal, but we kept the best parts. Horns up!

Last month, Thirteen Goats stampeded out of Canada and onto the global metal scene with the hyperkinetic, politically-charged “Return to Ruin”. That single (from their upcoming debut record, “Servants of the Outer Dark”) was accompanied by an animated video (can view below) that ended with a giant sunflower bursting out of Vladimir Putin’s skull—a deliberately unsubtle nod to the band’s Eastern European roots and aggressive anti-imperialist sensibilities.

The record’s newest single, “Unholy Mass”, takes the subgenre-hopping extreme metal maniacs in a different direction, momentarily setting politics aside to mount a blackened broadside against organized religion. Guitarist/vocalist Graham K. Miles explains in detail:

“This was the first song Rob [Fitz-Gerald, guitars/vocals] and I wrote together. He came up with almost all the riffs, and I wrote the lyrics, which tell the story of a priest determined to cleanse the world of sinners through gruesome murder. It’s about the hypocrisy of people who preach peace and love but enforce their values through violence. I also managed to sneak a Cryptopsy reference into the chorus—see if you can pick it out!”

The music itself combines sinister, slithering guitars with bone-breaking blast beats and some of the album’s most vicious vocals. According to Miles, “weird shit” happened while he was recording his takes—the studio lights kept flickering, and the temperature dropped noticeably. “I’m not superstitious,” he says, “but it felt spooky—like I wasn’t alone in there. And when I listened to the final tracks, they sounded a lot more evil than they had while I was doing them. So who knows?”, he grins. “Maybe I had a little help from beyond.”

The single was written in a single session during the introductory jam between Miles and Fitz-Gerald, who are the band’s core songwriting duo. It cemented their friendship and got Thirteen Goats off the ground. “Servants of the Outer Dark” is nine tracks of cathartic and multi-layered metal ranging from serious personal topics like suicide awareness on “Constant Torment” to balls-out camp on the hilariously literal “Vacuum-Induced Head Explosion”.

A hybrid of Florida death metal, UK grindcore, and classic 80s thrash, Thirteen Goats successfully combine their influences into something greater than the sum of their parts. They deliver an impressive force of blast beats, guitar solos, and grown men yelling ‘BLERGH’ alongside big, catchy hooks and choruses—maintaining the classic formula enough to impress old-school fans while keeping it fresh and accessible for newcomers.

The band is just getting started, but they have an arsenal of material waiting in the wings. They are a band to watch, especially by fans of Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, and Death.

The single “Unholy Mass” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The album “Servants of the Outer Dark” will be served up on July 1, 2022.

Horns up!

Bravewords Presents BRUTTA (Athemon, Ex-Haken) Brutal Self-Titled Single Off Upcoming Debut Out June 2022

Brutta out of São Paulo, Brazil, and the UK featuring the trio of Adriano Ribeiro (Athemon) (guitars, vocals), Tom MacLean (Athemon, ex-Haken) (bass), and Gledson Gonçalves (drums) are fresh, eager and ready to melt the faces off metalheads around the world. They have their debut self-titled album coming out this June, which is a formidable introduction to this new band of seasoned, professional musicians. Right now, the band is streaming the title track off the album via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The opening track on the full-length, it’s about letting yourself be transformed by Brutta’s aggressiveness, and admiring its uniqueness while being taken over by the transformation process. Brutta is what everyone will become, so watch out! The band explains further:

“We treasure this song a lot, as it was one of the first composed by us. It has an open evil chord followed by an explosion blast beat with a heavy bass seal. It’s the sound that never stops providing you with madness energy! The song is direct and precise. From its wicked atmosphere and obscure melody lines, we believe fans will be very curious about what’s to come!”

What follows after the title track is a high-speed, onslaught of blackened death metal spanning eight tracks, which is at times tense, occasionally experimental, but always heavy. The lyrics on the record come from human behaviour interests, especially its darker angles. Themes such as emptiness, hatred, and anxiety as well as religion and how it affects individuals.

According to Brutta, they believe fans will dig the sound, as it’s very original and consistent, but in a catchy and tuneful way. The dark atmospheres will drive the minds of listeners to obscure places. They are recommended listening for fans of Mayhem, Bloodbath, and Dark Funeral.

The album will be released on June 17th, 2022

About:
After working for Athemon (Adriano Ribeiro (guitars, vocals) and Tom MacLean (ex-Haken) (bass)) as their session drummer, Gledson Gonçalves had the idea of creating another project with more extreme music. Recruiting Ribeiro (guitars, vocals) and MacLean (bass), both were very eager to dive headfirst into the aggressive sound Gonçalves had in mind. A few jams later and Brutta was officially formed as a studio project over two contents. Gonçalves and Ribeiro in Brazil and MacLean in the UK.

Brutta works collaboratively through every part of the process, first Ribeiro develops and assembles the riffs, to which Gonçalves adds drum parts. The final musical touches come in as MacLean weaves the bass riffs and then vocals are layered on top with lyrical themes coming from human behaviour, especially its darker angles.

As they plan to hit the stage in the near future, fans will be met with loads of energy and power during the set as Brutta releases their demons through strong performances, so the audience can do the same.

A modern and in-your-face version of obscure and wicked music, Brutta rises like brutal “Heavy Post Metal” their debut, self-titled album will be released on June 17, 2022.

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with ‘UNUS’, the crushing and cinematic follow-up to 2016’s ‘Advent of the Human God’. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; ‘UNUS’ is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON was formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band has carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honour for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac-St-Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honour.

‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high-quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

Fall Of Stasis has been making its name known in the Montreal metal scene since they first stepped on a stage in 2017. A formidable blend of symphonics, black metal, prog and even a bit of folk, the band weaves an eclectic tapestry that will entice a wide variety of listeners.

The single “Baal Arise” describes a demon’s awakening and his wish to enslave humanity. This is a short, fast-paced, “in-your-face” type of song that starts off with a brutal death metal riff followed by an epic chorus. The band explains in further detail:

“This song was almost entirely written by Tristan, although it’s been fine-tuned and improved thanks to the band’s creative input. This song is short and very aggressive, and for that reason, we feel like it is very effective in grabbing the attention of our target audience. It was inspired by old-school metal songs that usually delve into satanic themes. We also felt like the storytelling was interesting and well-suited for a lyric video.”

It is apparent throughout the 50-minute album that a lot of effort was put into it, each song that was included was carefully picked to pique the listener’s interest and showcase the band‘s songwriting abilities. Overall, it is a melting pot of each band member’s musical tastes and influences, which makes for a pretty varied repertoire, ranging from smooth and melancholic ballads to aggressive and fast metal riffs. This gives them somewhat of an “apocalyptic” sound, something that is also reflected in most of the lyrics.

Metalheads looking for something brutal, eclectic, and original especially those with an interest in Fleshgod Apocalypse, The Black Dahlia Murder and Unexpect will likely enjoy Fall of Stasis.

“Baal Arise” can be watched and heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

About:
Fall Of Stasis, based in Montreal, Canada, was originally formed in 2014 with the intention of creating original music that couldn’t be defined by a specific genre. They started off with a very eclectic and progressive style, and as time went on, it was toned down in favour of musical cohesion and they added symphonic arrangements.

In 2017, the band released their demo and will be following it up in 2022 with the full-length “The Chronophagist”, which maneuvers closer to black metal but with definitive prog-heavy stylings. Working together on everything, there isn’t a single song where the creative input from a band member has not been blended into the mix. Fall of Stasis firmly believes that creative collaboration is one of their main strengths.

The current lineup of Fall of Stasis consists of Jessica Dupré (vocals), Gabriel Bernier (lead guitar/backing vocals), Tristan Bergeron-Boucher (rhythm guitar), Mathieu Groulx (bass), Sergei Lecours (drums) and Mélissa Bissonnette (keyboard). Each of the musicians brings a wide array of influences which results in a distinct sound, which caters to folk, black, progressive and death metal fans alike, but also to the uninitiated, thanks to their original and catchy melodies.

Symphonic yet brutal and often unpredictable, they present a mix of very powerful growls and clean vocals, along with good stage presence, efficient crowd work and tight musicianship. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many notable local and international bands such as The Agonist, Wolfheart and Beyond Creation.

ECRYPTUS Presents Star Wars Themed Death Metal “Cauterized Saber Wound Massacre”

Video Premiere via TheCirclePit

New EP “Kyr’am Beskar” Out January 14th via SBDC Records (Slamming Brutal Death Community)

Originally hailing from Korriban, but now stranded in Atlanta, Georgia, Ecryptus plays Star Wars themed death metal and they have a new EP ready for metalheads across the galaxy. The release of “Kyr’am Beskar” (Mandalorian for “Death Metal”) follows two demos (2002/2004); The Continuum LP (2005); Astral Crusades EP (2008) and a 7-inch single Rancorous (2018/2020). Each of these tells tales of the Dark side and its crusade against the tyranny of the rebel forces.

The single “Cauterized Saber Wound Massacre” is the first look at this EP complete with a lyric video.

“Grinding out the macabre scene of an entire field of bodies, cleaved effortlessly by a maniac wielding a laser sword.” adds the band.

Feel the power of the dark side, and listen to “Cauterized Saber Wound Massacre” via its lyric video premiere on TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/gR7J-ia4m38

The four-track EP also contains “Digested Over a Thousand Years”, “Planetary Enslavement” and “Compulsion to Disintegrate”, which further tell tales of the Canon Arcane. Once live shows are a regular occurrence again, Ecryptus is not one to miss. During their dramatic rituals, they wear armor and robes and dress the stage with trophies from recent death marks.

The epic Imperial galactic death metal of Ecryptus is recommended for fans of Morbid Angel, Immolation, and Suffocation.
