After a decade‑long hiatus, the band behind Teletoon’s cult animated series is officially back in the butcher shop with their most polished, unhinged, and radio‑ready material to date. Canada’s raunchiest rock‑and‑roll carnivores, Sons of Butcher, have unleashed “Skids, a brand‑new four‑song EP and their first batch of fresh cuts since 2020. Released today, March 27th, 2026, the EP arrives alongside the new music video for “Denim Dreamin’,” the follow‑up to their first single “Makin’ Bacon.”
Known for fusing vulgar absurdist comedy with heavy riffs and chaotic live antics, Sons of Butcher first carved out their legacy as the real‑world extension of their Teletoon animated series, building a cult following through spandex‑clad performances, pepperette‑throwing, and unapologetically ridiculous rock theatre. Forged in the grease‑splattered heart of Hamilton’s mock‑rock scene, “Skids” marks a new chapter, one that slices away from their animated origins and dives headfirst into a raw, unfiltered batch of comedy‑rock anthems.
“This EP marks the first time we’ve written songs that don’t have a direct connection to the cartoon storyline, except for Peppercorn Steak. Instead, this EP is an honest batch of comedy songs from the grease‑clogged hearts of a band of has‑been butchers,” adds frontman Ricky Butcher.
Produced by longtime collaborator Jordon Zadorozny (Meatlantis, Rise & Fall of the Steaks) at Skylark Park in Pembroke, ON, “Skids” is a loud, unapologetic love letter to skid‑life: cheap meat, denim devotion, and the gritty charm of back‑alley ambition. The EP also features drumming by Kellii Scott of the acclaimed band Failure, a full‑circle moment for Ricky Butcher, who first discovered Zadorozny’s work through Scott’s playing.
Musically, “Skids” pushes Sons of Butcher into their most radio‑ready territory yet, without losing the filthy heart that made them cult icons. Opening track “Denim Dreamin’” is a surprisingly wholesome, socially acceptable anthem celebrating denim as a lifestyle. Catchy, bouncy, and tailor‑made for anyone who’s ever bought a patch or band tee. “Makin’ Bacon” is a metal‑forward, riff‑heavy ode to the universal love of bacon. Chaotic, catchy, and dangerously addictive. “Steeltown Handy” is a pop‑rock earworm exposing the underbelly of Hamilton’s gritty streets, raunchy, melodic, and impossible to forget. And EP closer, “Peppercorn Steak,” is a return to classic SOB absurdity. Originally featured in an independently created third‑season pilot of the cartoon, now fully realized with soaring vocals and chunky riffage.
The EP’s cover features a live photo from the band’s first show after their ten‑year hiatus, Ricky Butcher and Doug Borski locked in a triumphant rock pose. The image has become symbolic of the band’s rebirth and renewed momentum.
To celebrate the release of the new EP, SOB‘s newest music video brings “Denim Dreamin’” to life with a tongue‑in‑cheek celebration of denim culture, matching the track’s upbeat swagger and infectious chorus. It follows the success of the EP’s first single, “Makin’ Bacon,” which kicked off the new era of Sons of Butcher with a blast of high‑energy mock‑metal.
“This is the first clean‑cut Sons of Butcher track we have ever written! With a catchy refrain and bouncy riff, the song proudly declares that denim isn’t just a fashion choice, it’s a full‑blown way of life. Anyone who’s ever bought a patch or a band tee will feel this one in their soul,” says Ricky Butcher.

“Sons Of Butcher prove that after all these years they are still masters at combining sleazy rock, chaos, and pure fun. Anyone who loves dirty guitars, rattling rock, and a hefty dose of self-mockery is in the right place here. The gas pedal stays pressed – and fortunately so.” – Musika
““Skids” stands out as a release with a clear entertainment-driven focus… an immediate and thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.” – Metalwar.gr
“Lockdown In Steeltown is a cheeky account that belongs with all historical records, as a kind of sly reminder when the next pandemic hits. Although it should probably be kept in the same section with Spinal Tap, “Weird” Al Yankovic, and pretty much every Dr. Demento show. I give this EP two Purell-sanitized thumbs up!” – Boston Rock Radio (2020 – Lockdown in Steeltown)
“the EP manages to lift the spirits of one or another rock fan with heavy music and silly jokes when they’re feeling cooped up, it has fulfilled its purpose. In any case, we’re not going to let a virus ruin our good mood.” – PowerMetal.de (2020 – Lockdown in Steeltown)
“Thing is, if there’s a word or a sentiment that could sum up 2020 is there one better than “FUCK!”?. As such, this could well be the album of our times. Canada’s filthiest, funniest, and most fearlessly unwashed rock band, Sons of Butcher, return with “Skids”, a brand‑new four‑song EP due out in March 2026 to mark a fresh chapter in the band’s long, greasy legacy. After a decade‑long hiatus, the band behind Teletoon’s cult animated series is officially back in the butcher shop, with their most polished, unhinged, and radio‑ready material to date.
“This EP is an honest batch of comedy songs from the grease‑clogged hearts of a band of has‑been butchers,” says Ricky Butcher, lead vocals/guitar.
After releasing five full‑length albums and becoming infamous for spandex, pepperette‑throwing, and the roaming meat tray, the band stepped away until a reunion show reignited the flame. A photo from that night now serves as the EP’s cover art, capturing Ricky and Doug in a triumphant, full‑body rock pose that symbolized their return.
“Skids” is a raw, four‑track eruption of cheap‑meat swagger and skid‑life grit, marking Sons of Butcher’s first batch of songs not tied to their Teletoon storyline, aside from the fully overhauled “Peppercorn Steak,” revived from an indie pilot episode. Reuniting with longtime producer Jordon Zadorozny at Skylark Park and featuring drumming from Kellii Scott of Failure, the band carves out a sound that pushes their legacy forward while staying true to their cult‑favourite chaos. Across the EP, Sons of Butcher swing from the denim‑soaked bounce of “Denim Dreamin’” to the metal‑fired frenzy of lead single “Makin’ Bacon,” slide into the gritty pop‑rock swagger of “Steeltown Handy,” and land squarely back in classic SOB absurdity with the 80s‑riffed peppercorn‑obsessed anthem “Peppercorn Steak” (planned for release to be the band’s official anthem for National Steak Day on April 25th).
The EP’s lead single, “Makin’ Bacon,” is a high‑speed, metal‑tinged celebration of bacon worship. It’s chaotic, catchy, and quintessentially Sons of Butcher, shot out of a cannon and straight into your frontal lobe. The accompanying music video is a meaty, maximalist feast of absurdity, riff‑fueled energy, and pure mock‑rock spirit.

Sons of Butcher began as the real‑life incarnation of their animated Teletoon alter‑egos, blending absurdist comedy and heavy riffs into the proudly self‑made genre of mock rock. The band quickly grew beyond the cartoon, releasing five albums, one live album, and an EP, and has built a cult following through chaotic, spandex‑clad live shows and meat‑soaked theatrics. “Skids” marks their first major release since 2020’s “Lockdown In Steeltown” and their first collection of songs not directly tied to the original series’ storyline.
Recommended for fans of Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, Psychostick, and Steel Panther, “Skids” will be released on March 27th, 2026, and is available for CD pre-order at: https://sonsofbutcher.bandcamp.com/album/skids
Sons of Butcher will support the EP with a run of Spring 2026 tour dates, including five shows with Hamilton’s beloved skid‑icon B.A. Johnston.

About The Album Artwork:
The EP artwork is a photo from a live show, and it has become symbolic to us as it’s a shot from the first show back after our ten-year hiatus. Ricky Butcher and Doug Borski (the two main characters from the cartoon and remaining original band members) are captured in a legendary rock pose on stage – reigniting the flame that propelled us forward to begin with.
About the album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
Skids is a four–song earworm assault, written about cheap meat, grunge-stained style, and unapologetic grit—the holy trinity of true skid-life. It’s raw. It’s loud. It’s honest. Every track drips with the undercooked charm of back-alley ambition and the unwashed spirit of rock forged in a butcher shop.
For the first time in decades, Ricky Butcher has sliced himself free from his notorious NSFW impulses, delivering some of the most radio-ready material of the band’s entire career. It’s still filthy at heart—but polished enough to slip onto the airwaves and corrupt the masses one FM signal at a time.
To bring this EP to life, the boys reunited with producer Jordon Zadorozny (Meatlantis, Rise & Fall of the Steaks), returning to Skylark Park in Pembroke, where the cleavers were sharpened, and musical direction was honed following their debut album. With Skids, Sons of Butcher aren’t just back—they’re propelling themselves forward.
Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):
1. Denim Dreamin’ – This is the first socially acceptable Sons of Butcher track ever written! With a catchy refrain and bouncy riff, this song proudly stakes its claim that denim isn’t just a fashion statement but a whole way of life. This tune is relatable to anybody who has ever bought a patch or a band tee!
2. Makin’ Bacon – A rare, metal-forward song that almost comes off the rails as it careens through an atypical song structure with busy riffs and catchy melodies. Lyrically, this is an opus dedicated to the universal love of bacon – and a cheeky nod to the inherent dangers therein. This isn’t a typical Sons of Butcher song; this one is shot out of a cannon with a chorus so catchy it may never leave your brain!
3. Steeltown Handy – Although a musically uncharacteristic song from Sons of Butcher, this poppy rocker oozes the type of authentic raunchiness that fans have come to expect from the band. Showcasing a big chorus with lots of harmonies, this song exposes the underside of the gritty city of Steeltown and the type of deals that are found in desperation. A song about discount sex acts on the street shouldn’t be this catchy, but here we are!
4. Peppercorn Steak – This track is a return to form, an obsession with peppercorns over a simple 80’s riff with a heap of lyrical repetition. The one feels closer to something we would have written at the very beginning of this project. This track was previously featured in a pilot episode for an independently created third season of the cartoon series that is only available on YouTube. On the Ep, the song has been given the full studio treatment, with soaring vocals and chunky riffage and a chorus that’s almost too dumb to scrutinise.
=================================================
STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND:
1. The drumming on the Skids EP was done by Ricky Butcher’s all-time favourite drummer, Kellii Scott, most notably from the band Failure! Fun fact– Kellii used to drum in our producer Jordon Zadorozny’s band Blinker the Star. Ricky discovered Jordon Zadorozny as a producer/musician because of Kellii Scott’s drumming, and Jordon has been Sons of Butcher’s long-time friend and producer ever since! It seemed fitting to have Kellii Scott drum on the first new batch of songs we had. Getting them both to perform on this EP brings the loop of fandom full circle!
2. This EP release will be accompanied by a handful of yet-to-be-announced Spring tour dates, with the boys once again hitting the road for 5 dates with Hamilton’s most beloved skid – B.A. Johnston! *Dates and locations, as well as the date of the actual tour announcement, will be provided soon*
3. On April 24, 2026, Sons of Butcher will put out a very meaty music video for the track Peppercorn Steak, which will be released to coincide with National Steak Day on April 25th. Finally, a steak-themed song to help you and your friends really capture that perfect Steak Day vibe!
4. FUN BAND HISTORY FACT: Sons of Butcher once walked on stage to perform a show in Sudbury, and the entire bar cleared out! In retrospect, a group of dudes wearing spandex outfits and playing party rock was probably never going to become super popular in the Nickel belt in the year 2008. We used the set to perform all 42 songs that we knew at the time to the handful of actual fans who made the drive to catch our set! Those fans got a rare treat, watching what was essentially a band rehearsal on stage.
5. FUN BAND HISTORY FACT: Back in 2004, when we were still pitching Teletoon, we convinced the network suits to let us perform at a swanky hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a Teletoon Christmas party. Everything went according to plan, except we somehow forgot to load the DRUM KIT! We successfully stalled the party-goers while the show’s Director, Karl, drove back to Hamilton to retrieve the kit. Much like the rest of our career, the beginning was a mixture of total chaos, a steep learning curve, and flying too close to the sun!

Sons of Butcher is a Canadian rock band consisting of Ricky Butcher (vocals/guitar), Doug Borski (vocals, bass), Joey Salami (guitar), and Crissy Stixx (drums).
Their music fuses vulgar absurdist comedy with hard‑hitting rock in a style proudly known as “mock rock.”
The band’s alter‑egos are the stars of an animated television series developed by S&S Productions and aired on Teletoon, following two brothers who run a butcher shop by day and shred stages by night. The name Sons of Butcher is literal; Ricky and Sol’s father was, in fact, a butcher.
Inspired by comedy‑rock icons like Tenacious D and Spinal Tap, the brothers conceived the idea in college around 2000. A script passed to a producer from the classic Canadian sitcom Red Green helped bring the show to life. After the first season aired, it became clear the fictional band needed to exist in the real world. Soon, Sons of Butcher were performing live and releasing albums.
The band has released five full‑length albums: Self‑Titled (2005), Meatlantis (2007), Rise of the Steaks (2010), Fall of the Steaks (2010), and C Sections (2016).
Onstage, Sons of Butcher brings the cartoon to life, spandex, raunchy lyrics, chaotic antics, pepperette‑throwing, and the infamous roaming meat tray all make their appearances, backed by ferociously heavy riffs.
The comedic rock party shows no signs of slowing down. After dropping their timely 2020 EP Lockdown in Steeltown, the band continues to carve new paths in mock‑rock. In 2026, Sons of Butcher returns with Skids, a brand‑new EP that pushes their signature blend of absurdity and heavy rock into fresh territory.

NEWS RELEASE
Montreal, QC – August 3, 2020

Comedic Rock Act Sons of Butcher Shares Covid-19 Music Video “Quaranteen”
New EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” Out Now

We’ve all been pent up stuck in our own little quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic and Canada’s most formidable “mock rock” band Sons of Butcher know exactly how you feel. That’s why they’ve created a new collection of tunes, aptly named “Lockdown In Steeltown”.
Today, SOB shares some visual comedic relief and empathy on how we are all raging inside from this present-day way of life. Today, they present their new music video “Quaranteen”, featuring vocalist/guitarist Ricky Butcher’s loss to insanity while living in his hilarious superficial prison.
Sons of Butcher’s Ricky Butcher adds:
“It’s summer in Steeltown, but a quarantine order has changed all of Ricky Butcher’s plans. This was the first song written for the ‘Lockdown In Steeltown’ EP. It was four days into the quarantine in March, during Earth Hour, I wrote this song on an acoustic by candlelight as a joke. I recorded it the next day and showed the boys. Little did I know this one song would spark the creation of an entire Sons of Butcher EP!”
Watch “Quaranteen” HERE.
Sons of Butcher‘s new EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” is the first release from the band in four years and comes right after the announcing that they will be creating a third season of their TV show with the entire original team that was previously aired on Teletoon in Canada.
Sons of Butcher wrote the EP in the spring right when quarantine measures were enforced around the world and it goes through some of the experiences that SOB would likely be facing during that time. Meant to be a distraction from all the craziness, Sons of Butcher explains the EP:
“This EP is a look into the lives of these cartoon rockers as they’re forced to lockdown in place in their hometown of Steeltown. Each character is coping in their own way and has their own song to express it.”
Singing about meat, sex, and everything in between, SOB are a mixed bag of rude unapologetic party rock from the bowels of Steeltown. Fans can expect much more from them as they are just ramping up and will be starting the new season of the show as soon as they complete the pilot.
Recommended for fans of Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, and Van Halen, Sons of Butcher‘s new EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

BIO:
Sons of Butcher is a Canadian rock band consisting of four members, Ricky Butcher (vocals/guitar), Doug Borski (vocals, bass), Sol Butcher (vocals), Colin Van Ham Steak (lead guitar), and Sausage Ralph (drums).
Their music fuses vulgar absurdist comedy with rock music in a style that is described as “mock rock”.
Their band alter-egos are the focus of an animated television series developed by S&S Productions and aired on Canadian animation network Teletoon which follows the lives of two brothers who run a butcher shop. Butchers by day, rockers by night, the name ‘Sons of Butcher’ can also be taken literally as Ricky and Sol’s father was a butcher.
Admiring the comedy and rock fusion of bands like Tenacious D and Spinal Tap, the brothers came up with this idea in college around the year 2000. Passing a script off to one of the producers of the classic Canadian sitcom Red Green led to the show becoming a reality. After the first season aired, it became clear the fictitious band needed to come to life. Soon they were playing live shows and releasing albums.
Sons of Butcher has released 5 full lengths, Self-Titled (2005), Meatlantis (2007), Rise of the Steaks (2010), Fall of the Steaks (2010), and C Sections (2016).
Clad in spandex outfit, straight from the cartoon series, Sons of Butcher compliments their raunchy lyrics with onstage antics and sketchy and of course, their ferociously heavy tunes. There are even pepperette throwing and the signature meat tray that is paraded around the room for all to sample.
The comedic rock party has no plans of slowing down, in 2020 they will release an aptly timed EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” on June 19th via Infamous Butcher Records.

New EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” Out Now!

Sons of Butcher, Canada’s most formidable “mock rock” band has a new collection of music out, aptly named “Lockdown In Steeltown”, themed around the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the first release from the band in four years, and it comes right after the announcement that Sons of Butcher will be creating a third season of their show themselves with the entire original team.
Sons of Butcher wrote the EP in the spring right when quarantine measures were enforced around the world and it goes through some of the experiences that SOB would likely be facing during that time. Initially, the track “Quaranteen” was meant to be a one-off, but more lockdown themed lyrics kept coming and an entire EP was forged. Meant to be a distraction from all the craziness, Sons of Butcher explains the EP:
“This EP is a look into the lives of these cartoon rockers as they’re forced to lockdown in place in their hometown of Steeltown. Each character is coping in their own way and has their own song to express it.”
Today, the band shares their new music video “Lockdown Phase One” filmed collectively with fans in their own personal lockdowns.
The Sons of Butcher add:
“Sol Butcher sings about the new rules in the pandemic lockdown in Steeltown! We asked our fans to join us on zoom to rock out to the song and they answered the call!! We dedicate this to our loyal and devoted Patreon fans and all the other hardcore SOB fans that have stuck with us over the years!”
Watch the video HERE.
Singing about meat, sex, and everything in between, they are a mixed bag of rude unapologetic party rock from the bowels of Steeltown. Fans can expect much more from Sons of Butcher as they are just ramping up and will be starting the new season of the show as soon as they complete the pilot.
Recommended for fans of Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, and Van Halen, Sons of Butcher‘s new EP “Lockdown In Steeltown” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Comedic Rock Act Sons of Butcher Share Covid Tips With Video “Speaking Moistly” Off New EP “Lockdown In Steeltown”

Initially, the track “Quaranteen” was meant to be a one-off, but more lockdown themed lyrics kept coming and an entire EP was forged. Meant to be a distraction from all the craziness, Sons of Butcher explains the EP and the single “Speaking Moistly”:
“This EP is a look into the lives of these cartoon rockers as they’re forced to lockdown in place in their hometown of Steeltown. Each character is coping in their own way and has their own song to express it. Speaking Moistly is a cover song, a heavy’d up version of the internet meme classic based on (Canadian Prime Minister) Justin Trudeau’s ‘speaking moistly’ speech. This song is fast, energetic, and informative as Ricky outlines the specifics about next phase etiquette.”
Singing about meat, sex, and everything in between, they are a mixed bag of rude unapologetic party rock from the bowels of Steeltown. Fans can expect much more from Sons of Butcher as they are just ramping up and will be starting the new season of the show as soon as they complete the pilot.
Recommended for fans of Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, and Van Halen, the video for “Speaking Moistly” is streaming on YouTube and their Facebook page with the EP due out officially on June 19, 2020.
