About The Single:

This single is the first step into the true sounds of Trash n Roll, it’s a song that is full of teeth-gritting, fist-pounding primal aggression. It’s a statement without politics, it’s a feeling without emotions, it’s a way to move without moving. It’s the first taste of an amazing upcoming album.

War Horse was originally just an idea we had for a video we will never be able to afford hahaha. Our unnamed anti-hero is on a space bike cruising through the universe. It kind of embodies the idea of trash n roll in the sense that most folks don’t see vagabonds as equal people but we keep rolling, there’s always time for trash n roll! It’s our way of saying “fuck em” to everyone that doesn’t respect you or your path. If it’s you against the world, here’s the warhorse you can ride into battle!

=======================================================================

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Benny has been practicing Muay Thai since the pandemic and trained in Thailand. Nate has watched 600 episodes of One Piece in one year. Jayme is an avid collector of comics, old Warhammer 40K, and vintage tales from the crypt memorabilia.

2. On a few different tours, I (Jayme) rolled under a moving semi-truck, Benny free falled out of a 40 ft tree hitting every branch on the way down, Nate broke his sticks and almost took out someone at front stage, Benny broke each of his knees on stage and finished the show. Once when we were on our way to play a show in Calgary, we got pulled over and when we got out, a bunch of whiskey bottles fell out and we convinced him that they were for candle holders.

Another time we were driving through the Rockies and we got caught in a forest fire, landslide, tropical storm(with cars and trees getting blown over), and finally almost totalled by a moose, all on the way home.

3. The band name came from a Tombstone of a Canadian Shaman, it’s said “*redacted* he was a Rebel, he was a priest, he was the storm, this will not stop him”

4. The band started out with stage attire that was Manowar meet iron fist era Motörhead, which we dropped early on because only one person a show would remember the outfit making it look like we were taking turns dressing up like a caveman.

5. One member is a successful jeweler

Rebel Priest Release Trash N’ Roll Single “War Horse” In Advance Of Japan Tour

L-R – Jayme Black – Vocals/Bass, Nate Pole – Drums/Vocals, Benny Kemp – Guitars/Vocals

Vancouver’s pulse-pounding Rebel Priest wants to tap into that adrenaline that is at the end of a shitty day or a shitty situation with their new single “War Horse” coming off a yet-to-be-titled album set for release next year. It promises to be the wrecking ball to get you out of that funk and get those motors revving! Along with this deadly new tune, they are announcing an eight-stop tour in Japan this October. The band shares their enthusiasm for the truest vision of their signature Trash n’ Roll:

“It’s gonna be the best song to light some new fires in “on the fencers” and the new generation of rock n rollers. It’s a sing-along titan of a song full of teeth-gritting, fist-pounding primal aggression. It’s a statement without politics, it’s a feeling without emotions, it’s a way to move without moving. It’s the first taste of an amazing upcoming album.”

According to Rebel Priest, “War Horse” was originally just an idea they had for a video they will never be able to afford to feature our unnamed anti-hero on a space bike cruising through the universe. The track embodies the idea of trash n’ roll in the sense that most folks don’t see vagabonds as equal people but they keep rolling, always making time for trash n’ roll! It’s the band’s way of saying “f*ck ’em” to everyone that doesn’t respect you or your path. If it’s you against the world, here’s the warhorse you can ride into battle!

With two EPs and three raging albums already under their belts, this next one is just the tip of another high-octane iceberg! They have a load of tracks ready for the studio and this is just the first single – fans of Motörhead, ZZ Top, and Rose Tattoo are gonna want to keep their pants on and their eyes peeled for what Rebel Priest is bringing down the pipe.

Vancouver, Canada’s Rebel Priest has been sharing their greasy version of rock n’ roll with the world for several years now and has accumulated an impressive discography and touring history. They are adding to their catalogue with “Lesson In Love”, which is streaming now for ears all over the world via its premiere on SonicPerspectives HERE.

This EP is the soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and take no prisoners combo at the same time! The band explains further:

“This new EP is our strongest yet! It’s all killer, no filler. No complicated stuff, just good, fast, and heavy! I think if fans liked our last stuff they are gonna think this is the best and if they didn’t like us then they will now! Lots of heavy blues metal rolling and catchy lyrics that make ya wanna shout out loud! We really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for an adventure or memory-making music!”

The band has been playing this batch of songs for a while now, so they are crowd-tested and roadworthy. While the big pause affected the recording process, they slowly got them down on tape and made them sound as wicked as possible. They are working on writing new stuff, so keep your ears open!

“Lesson In Love” was produced, mixed, and mastered by Rene De La Muerte (The Brains) and the album artwork was done by Angela Grimuzza.

Rebel Priest‘s greasy version of rock n’ roll is recommended for fans of Rose Tattoo, Deep Purple, and LA Guns.

“Lesson In Love” comes out on June 24, 2022 via Batcave Records.

What Goes Up Must Come Down In Rebel Priest’s Rockin’ New Single “Dïvebomber”

New EP “Lesson In Love” Out June 24th

West Coast Canadian Tour Dates w/ Deadwolff

L-R – Jayme Black – Vocals/Bass, Nate Pole – Drums/Vocals, Benny Kemp – Guitars/Vocals

Vancouver’s Rebel Priest is three friends that have been ripping it up through rock n’ roll for years now, across Canada and the world. Their current incarnation is grease-infused trash n’ roll with a penchant for turning it up loud and getting sweaty! They have a new album “Lesson In Love” coming out shortly which will be the fifth under their studded belts. The second single is “Dïvebomber”, a classic sounding tune that the band explains further:

“Dïvebomber is a speed rock song that came together as we were chatting about WW2 dogfights and how crazy they must have been. We thought that nothing could be crazier than a dïvebomber so we picked up our instruments and it just bled out! It’s about flying high, going fast, and touching the sun, all before using gravity to get the job done. Red Hot Hate. ”

In the beginning, Rebel Priest started out flirting with a lot of different genres to see what they liked and what they could pull off, ultimately they returned to their roots and have their feet firmly planted in rock n’ roll, or at least their particular style of trash n’ roll. On “Dïvebomber”, fans will definitely hear their early speed rock influences and across the rest of the record – their own brand of heavy rock n’ roll that has a slurry of influences including NWOTHM, and glam metal.

Taking lyrical content from things they have seen or experienced, or cool stuff they are into like sci-fi, horror, 80’s comedies, and comics, Rebel Priest adds a kick-ass soundtrack to relatable lyrics that will get you up out of your seat and singing along. They work collaboratively, making sure that everyone is on board and the music just flows.

“Lesson I Love” promises to be one hell of a time, especially for fans of ZZ Top, Rose Tattoo, and Deep Purple.

The single and music video for “Dïvebomber” can be seen and heard via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

The EP comes out on June 24, 2022 via Batcave Records.

Vocalist/bassist Jayme Black (Lust Boys, The Toxiks); guitarist/vocalist Benny Kemp (Lust Boys, Road Rash); and drummer/vocalist Nate Pole (Kill Matilda, The Toxiks) bring nothing but unadulterated, high energy grease infused Trash N’ Roll!

The band has had the pleasure of touring Japan, and performing alongside bands such as Udo (Accept), Lordi, Diamond Head, Crystal Pistol, Flotsam, and Jetsam along with playing many headlining gigs with the energy of Motorhead meets Motley Crue. Since forming in 2014, the band has released three studio albums “R’ley Heavy” (2019), Enabler (2017 ), Self-Titled (2015) along with one live record “Dead Alive @ SBC (2017).

Now in 2022, they offering up a slab of new music in the shape of a new EP “Lesson In Love” via Batcave Records/Thundermoose Entertainment on June 24th to follow their 2021 EP “Lost In Tokyo”. The forthcoming EP “Lesson In Love” is four tracks that ready’s fans to hear the band’s NWOTHM influences along with their brand of slurry heavy Rock n Roll.

Compared to last year’s EP “Lost In Tokyo”, which was written in Japan at the very end of 2019 about their adventures in the country, “Lesson In Love” takes a new avenue as they explain:

“On this EP, we really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for and adventure or memory-making music! The soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and takes no prisoners combo at the same time!”

Rebel Priest is recommended for fans of Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC and Motley Crue.

“good time high energy rock that demands a beer in hand, sweat running down the back and smiles all around…. A combination of AC/DC, Guns n Roses and Motley Crüe would be how I’d describe them, with added Motörhead to bring more flame to the fire on occasion.” – The Razor’s Edge

“Pay attention for REBEL PRIEST’s Rock ‘n’ Roll homily, because as they preach Rock ‘n’ Roll with “Lost in Tokyo”, you’ll be converted to their hard Rock cult. 9/10” – Metal-Temple

“It’s such a blast of high-powered hard rocking energy, this a fun track (Lost In Tokyo) that will make you want to visit the city and get lost.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“For fans of bands like Mötley Crüe and the like, Rebel Priest may be the right thing and if you are looking for dirty rock with beer-loving lyrics for a night of drinking, you will find it at Rebel Priest.” – Hellfire Magazin

“Rebel Priest stand for fast and hard rock ‘n’ roll. Three of the four songs are absolute party grenades and exude unbridled joy in playing. The EP Lost in Tokyo whets the appetite for more and then screams out live from the stage.” – Soundmagnet

“Lost In Tokyo (single) –  A crunching power packed snare drum punch comes crashing through as this shredding beast comes at us full on. Shredding guitar riffs are strewn all over this cranking monster as it ramps up the energy as this fantastic track gathers momentum and brings cool bass chords that deliver a plundering beat that combines well with this fantastic killer track.” – Jace Media

“This record is full of gritty, down ‘n’ dirty fun with a spiked metal grip” – Bravewords (R’LYEH HEAVY – 2019)

“A good Rotzrock Rundling let loose the REBEL PRIEST on the listener!” – My Revelations

“Reminded me of the early Iron Maiden Days” – Metal-Temple (R’LYEH HEAVY – 2019)

“This record is full of gritty, down ‘n’ dirty fun with a spiked metal grip” – Bravewords (R’LYEH HEAVY – 2019)

“Great stuff for cracking open a cold one and blasting down the highway at an illegal rate of speed” – Rebelx

======================================

The EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

On this EP we really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for adventure or memory-making music! The soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and takes no prisoners combo at the same time!

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

1. Lesson In Love is a non-traditional ballad like a love song sung by a Tommy gun hahaha! It’s about the trials and tribulations of loving something and just going thru it, the ups and downs and spirals but without the direct subject being a person. It’s open-ended in that it is what you love or love doing and how it’s a journey that can always find a way home.

2. Dïvebomber is a speed rock song that came together as we were chatting about WW2 dogfights and how crazy it must have been, then we thought that nothing could be crazier than a dïvebomber so we picked up our instruments and it just bled out!

3. Coatcheck Girl is a song Nate wrote a while ago about working at nightclubs and how (most often) the woman working the door was the best looking lady in the place! It’s been in our set for a while now and is a staple for our live shows, I mean who isn’t ready to party when a song starts out with LET’S GO GET SOME BEER!

4. Bonfire is a song about the great Bon Scott and nods to his wicked wordplay and snarky attitude. He was a true original and nobody came close! With thundering drums and lightning strike guitars, this song is a punch to the gut just like how he lived his life!

======================================

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND:

1. Nate is an avid RC car enthusiast and has been working on cars his whole life. Benny has been practicing Muay Thai since the pandemic.

2. On a few different tours, I rolled under a moving semi-truck, Benny free galled out of a 40 ft tree hitting every branch on the way down, Nate broke his sticks and almost took out someone at front stage, Benny broke each of his knees on stage and finished the show. Once when we were on our way to play a show in Calgary, we got pulled over and when we got out, a bunch of whiskey bottles fell out and we convinced him that they were for candle holders.

Another time we were driving thru the Rockies and we got caught in a forest fire, landslide, tropical storm (with cars and trees getting blown over) and finally almost totaled by a moose, all on the way home.

3. The band name came from a Tombstone of a Canadian Shaman, it’s said “*redacted* he was a Rebel, he was a priest, he was the storm, this will not stop him”

4. The band started out with stage attire that was Manowar meets Iron Fist era Motörhead, which we dropped early on because only one person a show would remember the outfit making it look like we were taking turns dressing up like a caveman.

Get Educated With REBEL PRIEST’s Rock N’ Roll Music Video “Lesson In Love”

New EP “Lesson In Love” Out June 24th

West Coast Canadian Tour Dates w/ Deadwolff

L-R – Jayme Black – Vocals/Bass, Nate Pole – Drums/Vocals, Benny Kemp – Guitars/Vocals

Vancouver’s Rebel Priest has been bringing its eclectic brand of rock n’ roll to fans for years in a true unadulterated, unapologetic fashion. A little bit greasy, a little bit sassy, but 100% committed, they have released four records, with a fifth on its way this year. “Lesson In Love” is the name of the upcoming EP as well as the first single, an untraditional ballad, like a love song sung by a Tommy gun. According to the band, it’s about going through the trials and tribulations of loving something – the ups, the downs, the spirals, but without the direct subject being a person. The band explains further:

“It’s open-ended in that it is what you love or love doing and how it’s a journey that can always find a way home. There’s always that one thing in your life that keeps you going, a person, a hobby, a theology. No matter what your vice is, it always comes at a price. You have to go through the blood, sweat, and tears to get what you need outta it and it doesn’t always come easy. This is your education, your lesson in love.”

When people put on the new record, Rebel Priest intends for them to forget about everything else, take a break from the grind, and get pumped! Whether you’re working out, going out, or down and out, put it on and play it loud! Get into it and go wild! Their music is fluid, they find a riff and then follow it where it wants to go. They say it’s just about finding the groove and cruising the wave.

Rebel Priest is headed out on tour with Toronto’s Deadwolff this summer, and spectators are in for a rock n roll treat – guitarist/vocalist Benny Kemp is the embodiment of a denim tornado; that guy will (and has) break his legs to party on stage! Drummer/vocalist Nate Pole is a groovin’ attitudn’ mean machine behind the drums that will sometimes make a wood chipper look like a pencil sharpener on those skins. As for vocalist/bassist Jayme Black, he’s a bit of a mouthpiece and likes his bass real gritty.

The trio just wants to bring rock n roll back to street level, when it was outlaw music for the underdog, so expect a greasy, sweaty, down and dirty rock show. They are recommended for fans of Motörhead, ZZ Top, and Rose Tattoo.

The music video “Lesson In Love” can be seen and heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The EP comes out on June 24, 2022 via Batcave Records.
