Formed in 2011 as a jam project by three fellow music students, the group has gone on to release several singles and EPs independently, while having the opportunity to share the stage with great metal acts like Protest the Hero, Intervals, Black Crown Initiate, and Mandroid Echostar. The group pride themselves on their infusion of multiple musical styles into hard-hitting riffs, epic choruses, and technically intense passages. Soaring melodies, guttural growls, and destructive breakdowns flow into soft, slow, and pensive segments of jazz and rock. Their compositional method, where songs are conceived, written, transcribed, and edited before they are ever learned or rehearsed, adds a level of refinement and fluidity not always found in heavier music. The band do almost all of their engineering work themselves, but have also worked with several talented producers. Their first EP T (June 2014), comprised of four previously released singles and one new song, featured the mixing and mastering handiwork of Gino Bambino (Novallo) and Justin Hill (SikTh). Their single Resurface (December 2014) was handled by George Lever (Burials).

The November 1st deadline is getting near to submit your band to one of Canada’s best metal festivals held in the Okanagan valley in Armstrong, BC. For the last 8 years, Armstrong Metal Fest has been showcasing a high caliber of Western Canadian metal along with international touring acts. Last year’s 2016 line up, their largest year for music and attendance included headliners Beyond Creation, Dayglo Abortions, Unleash The Archers, Archspire, Rivers of Nihil, The Zenith Passage and more.

Last year AMF had 162 band submissions!

69.4% of the total band line up for AMF 2016 was made of bands that had placed a band submission.

58.3% of AMF 2016’s line up was bands that had never played the festival before.

Taking influence from Europe’s music festival circuit, Armstrong Metal Fest is a heavy metal celebration that encourages metal heads from across Canada and the globe to mosh and camp with the backdrop of great outdoors of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. What started as a backyard party in 2009 with nothing but eleven local metal bands such as Terrifier, Xul and Odinfist to name a few, has grown into a a huge success admired by the Western Canadian Metal scene. 2016 was the eighth year of the festival and was its largest year for music and attendance. Formed in 2011 under the name Hellborn Death Engines, the band is resurfacing under the new moniker ILLYRIAN with the recent additions of bassist / vocalist Jeff Perry (Sikarra, ex-Animus Labyrinth) plus British drum sensation Darren May (ex-Deacon Birch) who have brought new and progressive musical mindsets into the band to join original and founding members Scott Onofrychuk (guitars/vocals) and Brandon McNeil (guitar/vocals).

Melodic death metallers CHARIOTS OF THE GODS are proud to announce they will be hitting the road for dates in November and December in support of their recently unleashed album ‘Ages Unsung’. The tour will venture across the province of Quebec along with hometown shows in Ottawa, ON, which includes supporting Sonata Arctica on November 14th (dates and info below). Joining them on the tour will be Montreal’s Pronostic.

‘Ages Unsung’ features 10 shredding tracks recorded at The Grid with legendary Montreal producer Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Beyond Creation, Neuraxis) plus features a special guest solo from The Agonist’s Pascal Jobin on the song ‘Into Oblivion’. For this album, CHARIOTS OF THE GODS turned to fans on kickstarter with a pre-order campaign (thank you video) and surpassed their goal of $3,000. The album marks the return of Canada’s first metal band to tour Cuba after a small hiatus and line up change to follow up their 2013 debut album ‘Tides of War’ that was produced by music legend Glen Robinson (Queensryche, Gwar, Annihilator).

“We are very proud to bring you all this new record. It took us longer than expected to get there, but we’re sure that after just one listen you’ll think it was worth the wait. There were a lot of changes since our last release in early 2013. 3 out of 5 were new members and it definitely had an impact on our music especially with the change of the vocalist. We sometimes went into some unknown territories with this new record, but our producer Chris Donaldson along with the help of Pascal Jobin really guided us through this experimental chapter. It has been a challenging effort, but we’ve worked hard to climb the mountain that stood before us. Now we know what we’re capable of. We can see many more peaks in the distance and as one we will strive forward.”

About Striker:

STRIKER formed in Edmonton, Canada in 2007 and they were signed to German label Iron Kodex off the strength of their first demo. They made two albums with the label and recorded 2nd album Armed To The Teeth with acclaimed producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy, Skid Row, Metallica). They played shows with Metallica in Canada and hit the road for what eventually became a full world tour with shows across Europe and Japan. The project was on hiatus for several years due to demand and relocation to Los Angeles by founder/guitarist/vocalist Dominic Cifarelli (former guitar player for Pulse Ultra (Atlantic Records)). While in Los Angeles, Ciferalli was part of multiple projects that included touring with Scars on Broadway, which featured Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan of System of a Down, a collaboration with Lukas Rossi on the single “Headspin” that is featured on the album “Rockstar Supernova” starring Tommy Lee, Gilby Clarke and Jason Newsted, recording guitars and bass for Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2012 release “Change My Mind” plus performing on French platinum artist Zaho’s debut and sophomore albums, and recording two guitar solos on a Rush tribute album released by Magna Carta, which featured Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Mike Mangini (Dream Theater) and Stu Hamm (Steve Vai). Other highlights in Cifarelli’s career include a featured guest guitar appearance with Cypress Hill and Travis Barker at the annual Smoke Out Festival in San Bernardino, CA that also featured Incubus, Living Colour and Manu Chao plus guest performances in 2013 with Chevelle in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel and Taproot at the Whiskey in Los Angeles.

PureGrainAudio Premiere RED CAIN Lyric Video ‘Hiraeth’; Debut Self-Titled EP Out Nov 25th

Calgary, AB’s RED CAIN have teamed up with PureGrainAudio for the premiere of their new lyric video for their first single ‘Hiraeth’ off their upcoming self-titled debut EP set for release on November 25th. The track was written as an anthem to glorious ages past, driven by the band’s Eastern European roots. Enveloped in Slavic mythology and imagery, the track takes the listener into an era where mysticism and sorcery coexisted with sharp steel, pagan hymns, and a still-present yearning for the restless wild. It is a gallop through hidden memories in their blood, and a call to arms from a long-forgotten heritage of renown.

BRUTAL BATTLE CUBA is proud to announce its return for a 2017 edition across Quebec and Ontario to send one Canadian band to perform on the BRUTAL SUMMER FEST TOUR across CUBA. The tour will take place during August 2017 with one Canadian band joining five to seven other international bands along with crew members, drivers and one big bus for the two week journey across the country. The winning band will also be provided a 500$ worth package that will include a custom banner, shirts and stickers for the tour. While on the road, the Canadian band will also be introduced to every aspect of Cuban culture.

Brutal Battle Cuba annonce fièrement un retour pour une édition 2017 à travers le Québec et l’Ontario afin d’envoyer un groupe Canadien indépendant performer à CUBA sur la tounrée du Brutal Summer Fest 2017! La tournée aura lieu au mois d’Août 2017 avec un groupe Canadien accompagné de cinq à sept autres groupes internationaux, une équipe de technique, deux chauffeurs d’autobus et un énorme autobus sur la route pour deux semaine de tournée intensive à travers le pays. Le groupe gagnant se mérieta également un ensemble de tounrnée d’une valeure de 500$ incluant une bannière, des t-shirts et des autocollants. Pendant le trajet, le groupe Canadien aura aussi la chance de découvrir les différents aspects de la culture Cubaine.

About:

Conceived within the womb of Execration, Helleborus is the latest emanation of Jerred & Wyatt Houseman. Like the enigmatic and deadly winter flower from which the project takes its name, Helleborus pushes the exploration of traditional black metal into the uncharted territory of sensual duality and mysticism. Building on their professional experience with Execration and personal experiences through Akhenaten, the Houseman brothers sought a deeper expression of their experiential-driven musical style that audiences can connect with through a union of opposites.
