Toronto, ON’s Adrian Pain & The Dead Sexy unleashed their new EP ‘Mixed Messages’ this past February to continue their solid chemistry of an ‘Allcore’ metal sound with emotionally stirring and socially conscious lyrics. The EP is a marriage of Adrian Pain’s solo endeavours and The Dead Sexy’s band work to follow EPs ‘Picture Day At Night School’ (2014) and their debut ‘The First One Is Free’ (2013) along with Pain’s solo full length ‘Love Letters & Suicide Notes’ (2012).

Pain describes ‘Mixed Messages’:

“This release is like the gateway drug to metal and heavier music in general! We appeal to a very wide range of musical tastes so guys can play us for their girlfriends, and girls can play us for the guys. If you identify another way, you can play us for whomever you’d like. If any negative response comes out of it, it’ll be the fans that expect every song to get heavier with each effort. What I hope they notice is the constant evolution of our sound. The music itself is getting more and more diverse and progressive, while the song structures are also evolving into bigger, more complex arrangements. I want everyone that listens to this record to feel an emotional connection. I want people to relate to, and hear the MESSAGE in each track.”

In support of the new EP, the ‘Allcore’ metal band has teamed with New Noise Mag for the premiere of their new video ‘Day One’.

“The band and I are all fans of ‘play through’ videos. Usually you’d see individual play through videos like bassists, drummers, or guitarists by themselves. I had recently watched a few that Luke Holland & Jason Richardson have done together and thought it would be very cool to do a full band play through. We were originally planning on doing another lyric video for “Day One” but the idea fit nicely with this track because of all the great individual parts. DOUBLE EXPERIENCE released their third full-length, “Unsaved Progress” via their label Colfax Music in April of last year. The album includes their single “The Glimmer Shot”; a Destiny-themed rock anthem, which earned them accolades from the creators of the video game itself plus their cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Godzilla’. Taking the next step from their previous album – initially released exclusively on collectible trading cards, the band utilizes classic video-game inspired artwork and packaging. The album was brought to life with the help of Al Jacob and Kit Walters (HE IS LEGEND) at Warrior Sound in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE have performed across 15 countries, playing everywhere from video game museums to tattoo conventions as well as showcases at Canadian Music Week and Indie Week Canada. Wacken Metal Battle USA is proud to announce the first ever Philadelphia round winners conquered by POWER THEORY and COPRSE HOARDER. For over a decade at the world’s largest outdoor metal festival Wacken Open Air, independent metal bands from around the globe have been performing in front of thousands and competing against one another for one to be crowned champion of the world along with winning multiple prizes (prizes info). How it works:

Each city will hold their qualifying rounds plus city finals, selecting the top band to move forward to the national final in New York City (date to be determined) with one being selected to perform at the 28th edition of Wacken Open Air. All bands will be judged during battle rounds by respected local music industry.

RULES:

All bands, that wish to participate in the Metal Battle, must read the following rules and guidelines. Bands who send in an application automatically agree to the rules and terms.

Your band doesn’t have a deal and isn’t about to sign to a label in the near future.
Your band can easily play a 25 minute set consisting of your own songs. (No Covers). Full set performance time is 25 mins.
PA, lighting, and sound engineer will be provided for all bands.
Backline arrangements TBA.
The bands must bring their own instruments such as guitars, bass, drum breakables, keyboards and effect pedals and may also bring and use their own guitar amps.
To keep the changeover times as short as possible, bands with left handed drummers will play as first or last band. All bands have to follow the directions given by the promoters or stage manager.
Semi playback is not allowed. All bands must play live. Background orchestrations are ok as long as all vocals, guitars and bass are live. Intros / interludes are also ok.
Jury of respected music industry folk will decide the winners each night.

If a band overruns its allotted performance-time, then the band-members should be aware of the fact that in this case their sound will be faded out. The running order for the concert will be released a few days before the event takes place.

Please note:
Travel for the winning band to go to Germany is at their own expense and accommodations at the festival will be in the form of camping in the VIP area.
Full professional back line will be provided for performance.

We live in a world where everything, including music, is itemized and made into a genre (indeed the sub-genres grow daily!). Yet rock is all about rebellion plus rejecting norms and Hamilton, ON’s marvelous award nominated RADIO FREE UNIVERSE are very much their own creation. In vocalist George Panagopoulos’ words, they are “genuine, honest, heavy, sonic…liberating”.

Panagopoulos explains liberty is a big part of the inspiration behind RADIO FREE UNIVERSE’s unique name.

“It is inspired by Radio Free Europe, which began as part of the resistance against tyranny in World War 2. Now it’s journalists report the news in 23 countries where a free press is banned by the government or not fully established. We apply this to our music. Trying to break free of the chains of genres and just focusing on the song and serving it.”

RADIO FREE UNIVERSE’s debut album ‘Casa Del Diablo’ is now available as of March 17th, 2017 via Jet Pack Records and features twelve infectious rocking tunes. The band’s first single ‘Disclosure’ is currently hitting radio across Canada plus free for download exclusively on PureGrainAudio.com here. ‘Casa Del Diablo’ was mixed and mastered by Glen Robinson (Voivod, Gwar) along with him producing tracks American Gun, Disclosure, 18 Wheels and Six with the rest of the release produced by RFU vocalist George Panagopoulos and Mark McMaster.

Breaking down the album, vocalist George Panagopoulos also explains:

“I spent a good deal of time living in the US. It’s a vibrant real culture from coast to coast. I don’t believe in the devil, but I do believe that people trap themselves in things. The enticement of pleasure and wants that the country truly offers a great deal of opportunity, but it’s also lined with a thirst that is unquenchable. Money can be good, but in the United States it fuels every fire. The country has literally become an evolved beast that feeds of people’s desire and fear. Everything you can think of corruption wise is alive and thriving there. As well as every great innovation and creative spirit. This album is about those things combined with my experience there. At the same time it’s a celebration of sorts. No song judges any one at anytime. Nothing says this is bad or that is good. It’s just an observation. Example ‘American Gun’ is one of those tracks that work for people who don’t like them and people that do. All the songs are observational not so much political. The most amazing thing about that country is with all that going on you find people who are happy and full of love. That’s amazing if you think about it.”

Prior to preparing for their debut release, RADIO FREE UNIVERSE has made quite a name for themselves on the live scene in Southern Ontario and greater Toronto area since their formation in 2010. In their hometown of Hamilton, ON, they’ve performed at the Hamilton Music Awards plus have been nominated twice for Recording of The Year. Stockholm, Sweden’s KREHATED have released a powerful new music video for the song “Awaken Ignorance” taken from their latest full-length album, ‘The Venomous Mind’. The video was directed and produced by David Andersson, Dennis Andersson & Johan Hallman. The lead actor portrayed in the video is Andreas Vrenning.

The band wields a devastatingly heavy, groove-oriented sound that is reminiscent of nu-metal-era bands such as Chimaira, Slipknot, Korn, Machine Head, Pantera, and Sepultura.

The band recorded their feature full-length album ‘The Venomous Mind’ at JV Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. It was mixed and mastered by Christian Svedin (The Unguided, Vildhjarta, Imminence). The artwork was created by Tomas Lacke; with additional artwork and logos provided by Gustavo Sazes and Henrik Englund (Scarpoint, Amaranthe). The song “The Parasite” features a guest appearance from Richard Sjunnesson (The Unguided, Ex-Sonic Syndicate).

“We all have demons inside our heads. It doesn’t matter how successful you are, how wealthy you are or how sane you seem to be. Everyone has been through rough times at some point in their lives and then carried around the aftermath… demons or venom in their minds. ‘The Venomous Mind’ is all about that. Our inner demons.
