Don’t Let The Gov’t Scare You! ENIME’s New Video ‘Selling Fear’ Premiere On Metal-Rules

New Album Out Now! ‘Demon Inside’

Influenced by 80’s thrash giants like Exodus, Anthrax and Metallica plus later-day heroes like Killswitch Engage, ENIME’s music is ‘heavy articulate, clean, thrashy, and also melodic.’ ENIME are a band not afraid to gaze into the abyss and to take musical and lyrical inspiration from it. But no inspirations from mythical gods and monsters, rather ENIME are inspired by the world around us. Unleashing their debut album ‘Demon Inside’ during July 2016, the Montreal based metallers have teamed up with Metal-Rules.com for the premiere of their new lyric video ‘Selling Fear‘, a track off the release about how the government and media use fear as a scare tactic to keep the general population in check.

About:

Born out of the emerging music scene of Alberta, Canada, Red Cain is a powerful, modern melodic metal project with European roots. Originally conceived as an industrial/gothic hybrid along the lines of Deathstars and Marilyn Manson, they soon evolved to embrace intricate storytelling, finessed their guitar sound, and grew into a more fluid and dynamic musical style. With increased musicianship, the progressive nature of the band grew, as did the influence of acts like Kamelot, Symphony X, and Tesseract.

The band has been a steadfast on the Calgary music scene from 2012 to 2014, playing at venues such as Distillery, Lord Nelson’s, Dickens, Vern’s, and the Republik, alongside known international and local acts, such as Arkona and Scythia.

After a two-year hiatus, Red Cain is back on the scene, with orchestration guru William Lancaster and talented multi-instrumentalist Rogan McAndrews joining longtime members and founders Evgeniy Zayarny, Nikita Ryzhenkov, and Samuel Royce in a new, streamlined, and hard-hitting lineup.

Evgeniy Zayarny’s trademark powerful, dark clean vocals and storytelling depth overlay Nikita Ryzhenkov’s meticulous and inventive guitar work, Rogan McAndrews’ groove and intelligent basslines – all backed by Samuel Royce’s thunderous precision behind the drums and William Lancaster’s symphonic brilliance. Red Cain is a rare mix of articulate songwriting with its heavy, groove-filled instrumentals and evocative rich vocals – all creating a memorable and dramatic musical experience. Their debut self-titled EP is due out on November 25th, 2016.

“Hiraeth” is 6 minutes and 12 seconds of Red Cain’s “intricate storytelling, finessed…guitar sound, and…fluid and dynamic musical style.” With a lot of buzz surrounding the new recording, the local scene is soon going to start seeing this group all over local venues.” – PureGrainAudio

“If you are into  heavy, groove-filled instrumentals plus evocative, rich vocals then this is the album for you, this is one of those albums that you listen to over and over again to hear something new and exciting every time. It is a 4 song EP that feels like a full length album.” – Ignite Music Mag
“an eclectic mix of metals sub genres. From progressive, cinematic, symphony along with a touch of Goth. Red Cain have produced a superb CD…They’re a band well worth supporting.” – All About The Rock
“On their debut EP, Red Cain establish themselves, not only as a promising act within their musical category, but one capable of bringing in new ideas to freshen the palate of their genre.” – Musicology

Canadian horror inspired symphonic power metallers MALACODA (named after a demon from Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’) unleashed their new six track EP ‘Ritualis Aeterna’ this past December. The EP is the follow up to their well-received 2014 self-titled debut album. Packed with dark atmosphere, originality and innovation, this is gothic power metal for the 21st century with intelligence and intensity to rival that of their infernal inspirations.

Teaming up with SkullsnBones.com, the ghouls of MALACODA are premiering a new video for their track ‘There Will Be Always One’, which captures their behind the scenes time in studio recording ‘Ritualis Aeterna’.

Vocalist Lucas Di Mascio comments:

“There Will Always Be One is probably our thrashiest track. This song has a lot of anger behind it, and it’s dedicated to those who have gotten in the way of the band and made our journey more difficult. Trust me- it’s not an honor to have us write a song about you!”

To view the video, please visit the following link: http://skullsnbones.com/malacoda-there-will-always-be-one-video-premiere/

‘Ritualis Aterna’ is now available digitally on iTunes and on CD at MalacodaMetal.com plus can be heard in full stream at http://www.malacodametal.com/music.

The band’s previously released music video ‘Penny Dreadful’, which was inspired by the since canceled Showtime TV show along with paying homage to classic horror films can be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTJfr292o7g.

About:

Taking their name from a demon from Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’, Malacoda’s dark gothic vision is indeed divine but no laughing matter.

As band leader Lucas, who studied Literature and Religion at University explains: ‘Malacoda was the name of a very minor character in the book, a fallen angel who flies around with a small army of demons torturing helpless souls in Hell. From a literary perspective, I found it interesting that he wasn’t merely an evil creature being tortured for his sins, but was given free reign to do what he pleases and takes it upon himself to torture other wicked souls in the spiritual prison that is Dante’s Inferno. I wanted a powerful name that fit not only the sound of the band but also the lyrical themes I touch upon. I wanted something dark, but not something that would be blatantly devilish sounding. The name translates roughly in Italian to ‘Cruel Tail’ and most people don’t see it and think “this band is named after a demon” and see it as something more romantic sounding.’

Like the ‘Inferno’ that inspired their name they forge metal without limits in sonic shapes endless and horrifying in equal measure. Malacoda’s music vision shares much in common with Dante’s, they are unafraid to gaze into the abyss, unafraid to be inspired by the myriad of human horrors within and without. They are not blind to the worlds within them waiting to be born.

Malacoda are about to follow their well-received self-titled debut with the horror-themed ‘Ritualis Aeterna’, which enters this world on December 2, 2016. Festive it most certainly isn’t, magnificent it certainly is. Full of dark atmosphere, originality and innovation, this is gothic power metal for the 21st century, intelligence and intensity to rival that of their infernal inspirations!

About:

Hailing from Calgary, the imaginatively named From The Wolves mix melody with metalcore, creativity with carnage, and intelligence with aggression, something they’ve nailed with their new EP ‘Nightmares’ , which captures their live fury forever like some creature in amber. Describing their sound as “an absolutely horrifying unnatural train-wreck” and live as “a very high energy show”, From The Wolves are taking their music to the next level with inspiration from The Ghost Inside, Parkway Drive, Emmure, Norma Jean and The Acacia Strain.

As drummer Layne Frank says of the new EP. “Our fans will love it. It is fast and aggressive with hard hitting riffs with some melodic hooks thrown in…we want our listeners to go through an emotional roller coaster when listening to us.”

The creative well for From The Wolves is deep. “We wanted a fast and aggressive EP and these three songs were perfect for what we were going for. Fans can expect a lot more music from us.”

Fantasy plays no part in From The Wolves’ lyrical influences as they are inspired by “life experiences and anything we strongly believe in.”

Layne feels that From The Wolves’ sound is evolving rapidly. “We have grown a lot as a band, when we started, we were mainly writing with a more ‘hardcore’ style as you can hear with songs like ‘Empty Promises’, ‘Sheep’ and ‘Antagonist’ but we were always pushing for metalcore with ‘Legacy’. ‘Dead End Horizons’ and the latest song, ‘Calloused’. We have come a long way when it comes to song-writing and how we structure songs…We are influenced by a ton of different styles of metal. The main influences for us would have to be metalcore, deathcore and everything in between.”

As Layne sums up confidently. “On the whole the EP is just an angry statement towards the world and everything we all deal with on a daily basis.”

‘Nightmares’ was released October 14, 2016.

– 30 –

“A Cold Embrace,” is metal to the core.  With an intense mixture of hardcore and metal, “A Cold Embrace,” features amazing music, amazing song writing and amazing intensity…The vocals, riffs and backend bass and drums, are technically on point and make this an amazing EP.  From the churning guitar on “Dead End Horizon,” to the technical masterpiece, “No Miracles,” this EP has an intense vibe running through it that sounds like a prison riot set to music and that means, it kicks ass.  No matter if you like hardcore, metalcore, metal, etc, “A Cold Embrace,” is a big sounding EP from a band with a big future and a Bro-Metal rating of, 9/10″ – Bro Metal

“FTW were a lot of fun in the studio and they came with professional attitudes about their music. Hopefully this will be a band that continues to stick around the scene and develop their music, I’m really looking forward to how their sound develops” – Rob Kukla (Producer)

Music Book Author Antonio Ponce Posts New Advice Blog ‘5 Steps To Help You Book A Music Festival Showcase’

New Book Out Now! ‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’

‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ author Antonio Ponce has posted a new blog for ambitious bands looking for advice on getting booked on festivals. Entitled ‘5 Steps To Help You Book A Music Festival Showcase’, the blog mentions 5 easy quick tips to get organized when applying to festivals, just one of many topics discussed by Ponce in his new book. The blog entry can be read at the following link: https://www.apjonespublishing.com/blogs/news/5-steps-to-help-you-book-a-music-festival-showcase

Ponce recently released his debut educational music business book ‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ to enable up-and-coming bands to ascend the ladder of success, in his own words, it’s a “lean valuable quick simple guide.”.

The book is based on his band’s experience from playing his first show to six months later being invited to play a festival in Tokyo, Japan. The book is a great starting point for those interested in the business side of the music industry. Think of it as a quick business foundation musicians can use to get things going.

Ponce explains:

“I would have loved to have this information when our band started. There were so many unanswered questions that took years of searching and experience to learn. If this book had existed back then, we could have leaped over the fire instead of trying to walk through it! I know a lot of new and current bands stuck on the ‘what to do next?’ question will find value in the book’s contents. I hope this book is a tool musicians can use to help them get into a position to get to the next level and notice what we were able to do as an unknown band and that they can do it too!”

‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’ is now available both digitally and paperback on Amazon here and AP Jones Publishing here.

About:

Japan’s SOLITUDE was formed in 1996, when two ex-members of SACRIFICE (Japan)*, the founding member and main composer Akira Sugiuchi <vo> and the bass player on two of their albums Toru Nishida, met ex-RIP RIDE guys of Yasuo Koyano <ds> and Hiroki Nakamori <g>. The guys kept on rehearsing for as long as 3 years, composing songs and forging the foundation of the band. With Heavy Metal as its core, their sound has tastes of various music as if to show that they have been influenced by various different styles of music, such as 70’s Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, and most notably NWOBHM, among others.

In 1998, they picked up “SOLITUDE” as the name of the band, and they played live for the first time in March 1999. This debut live was reported through fanzines and the internet, with such praises as “the birth of the new Defenders of Heavy Metal” or “the answer to what Heavy Metal is”. In September, Shingo Ida (ex-BARTOLOMMEO) replaced Nakamori, and his distinctive style of melodic guitars has brought a new blood into the band. In November, they recorded two songs, “Virtual Image” and “Eagle Fly”, latter of which was dedicated to their favorite British Heavy Metal band, SAXON. This recording was used for promotion as “SOLITUDE Demo ’99”.

In July 2000, the band started recording an album, and the recording carried on until December as the band aimed at the highest quality they could achieve. Their debut album “Virtual Image” was finally released on 5th of September, 2001 as the first-ever release of SPIRITUAL BEAST, who would later grow to one of the leading independent Heavy Metal labels in Japan. The album got rave reviews from the underground fanzines and webzines, not just in Japan but in the US and throughout Europe, and requests for interviews flooded in. The reaction was especially overwhelming in Germany, owing to the sampler CD called “Metal Crusade” from “Heavy oder was!?” magazine, which featured the title track “Virtual Image”.

Koyano left the band prior to the release of the album, but the band continued touring with the help from Suguru Kobayashi (ex-CASBAH), sharing the stage with various bands from OUTRAGE, RAGING FURY or METALUCIFER to DEFILED and SIGH. In July 2003, having added Tai Syouda (ex-GUARDIAN’S NAIL, now leading his own band, SEVENTH SON) as a permanent drummer, they flew to Germany to play at “Headbangers Open Air”, where they shared the stage with veterans like BLITZKRIEG, TRESPASS, and KILLER (Belgium) as well as youngsters like STORMWARRIOR, CRYONIC TEMPLE and DOOMSWORD. Their performance was praised by various media, with German “Rock Hard” magazine describing them as “the highlight of the festival”. The fact that many metalheads kept on chanting for SOLITUDE for a while after they left the stage proves the impact they had.

In 2004, they started preparing for a new album, and first recorded “Rainbow Theme” – “Frozen Rainbow” for a SAXON tribute album “Eagleution – A Tribute to Saxon”, put together by Remedy Records in Germany. The recording continued while the band played selected gigs like “Duryu Rock Festival” in Korea (with JURASSIC JADE from Japan, MINDFLOW from Brazil etc), or first-ever opportunity to play in Sapporo, Hokkaido, but their uncompromising attitude and various personal issues of each member delayed the whole process more than they had expected.

The recording, carried out at various points, was finally over and while they were waiting the mixing to be done, at the end of 2008, Syouda decided to leave the band. In February 2009, the remaining 3 guys participated in a NWOBHM cover event “Denim And Leather” as “SOLITUDE with Mad Ohuchi”, featuring none other than Takamasa “Mad” Ohuchi of ex-ANTHEM fame on drums. This resulted in Ohuchi joining SOLITUDE as a permanent member later that year.

In December 2009, after 8 years from the debut album, the long-awaited (literally!) new album “Brave the Storm” finally hit the stores. Like its predecessor, the album was produced by Fuyuhiko Inui, ex-band mate of Ida, who has been involved in various recordings as engineer/producer from BUCK-TICK or CHARA to MAVERICK. The mastering duty was handled by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (THE AGONIST, MASTODON etc).

In January 2011, the band toured Korea and Japan with Swedish sensation Enforcer, with Mean Streak also added for the Japanese dates. In September, “Brave the Storm” was released in Europe on Fastball Music in Germany, proving their growing popularity in the mainland Europe. In July 2012, the band helped set up a Japan tour for Canada’s Skull Fist, and toured with them and Widow from US. In 2013, they co-hosted the “Japanese Assault Fest”, sharing the stage with GIRLSCHOOL, VEKTOR, FASTKILL, AIR RAID etc.

In April 2014, the band finally started recording a new album. Looking for the kind of sound production they grew up listening, they went into a closed movie theater in Gotenba, Shizuoka, where they brought in the recording equipments, just like Deep Purple did in a hotel; Rainbow did in an old castle etc in the 70’s. With the great ambience and the environment to allow you to play as loud as you want, the place was later modified into a proper recording studio called “Tapestry Recording Studio”. The band appeared at the “Japanese Assault Fest” two years in a row (SATAN, HEAVY TIGER, MIDNIGHT MALICE, ETERNAL ELYSIUM etc) later that year.

The album was mixed and mastered at Pama Studios in Sweden, by Magnus “Mankan” Sedenberg and Magnus “Maxe” Axelsson respectively, who had worked with such bands as BULLET and CRUCIFIED BARBARA. The stunning artwork was painted by the Italian artist Velio Josto, who had done covers for WARLORD, MEDIEVAL STEEL, OSTROGOTH among others. The album “Reach for the Sky” will be released on SPIRITUAL BEAST in June 2015, and the band will be extensively touring throughout Japan for the rest of the year, starting in Nagoya in August.

*SACRIFICE (Japan) was one of the leading bands in the Japanese thrash/underground scene from their formation in 1985 until disbanding in 1992, and they left a lot of impacts on young and upcoming bands then and even now. During their career, they released three studio albums, “Crest of Black” (1987), “Total Steel” (1990) and “Tears” (1992) and shared the stage with SODOM (Germany), NUCLEAR ASSAULT (USA), CASBAH, OUTRAGE, UNITED (all from Japan) among many others. They once featured Shinji “Samm” Tachi of ex-SABBAT on drums, who later formed MAGNESIUM and also joined his brother in METALUCIFER. SACRIFICE has recently reunited under the lineup of Sugiuchi <vo>, Nishida <b>, Tachi <ds> and Temis Osmond <g> of ex-SABBAT fame.
