New EP Out “Biophagous”

Drawing influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder, PROTOSEQUENCE root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing.  Their latest EP “Biophagous” was unleashed this past August to follow their 2016 debut “Schizophrene”.

Teaming up with GearGods, PROTOSEQUENCE‘s drummer Logan Vars is showcasing his pounding force and technicality with a new playthrough for the band’s track “Parasitic”.

Vars comments:

“Parasitic was the first single we released off “Biophagous” and is the most Tech-Death song on it. Lots of blast beats with some neat-o fills that I’m pretty proud of. It has been a goal of mine for awhile to release a one-take, unedited playthrough and I couldn’t be happier with how this turned out. I’d like to thank my friends Nick of Nick Laird Videography for the steady cam/video editing and Andrew of Echo Tree Audio for recording, mixing, and mastering the audio. Also, big thanks to my band mates Kyle, Jacob, Joe, and Parker for being so rad, Cara Ashbey for all her hard work, and Gear Gods for picking up this video!”

About:

Edmonton’s own Protosequence offer a rush of groovy guitar parts met with story-filled lyrics and serene, landscape-sized instrumentals that roll like hills into a valley.

Protosequence is a reference to the original genome where all life began — much like the band, which existed in principle before they even had a presence. Each of the members were lying in wait to be activated and become the strain that is now Protosequence. Kyle Hunter (guitar) was constantly crafting near-complete songs that were ready to be realized. It did not take long for Kyle and Logan Vars (drums) to finally meet. It seemed as though there were two projects destined to combine into a singular effort to form the final line-up for the band: Logan (drums), Kyle (guitar), Parker (guitar), Joseph McKee (vocals), and Ryan Schaffler (ex-bassist) who is now replaced by Jacob Teeple. Members have a long history in the Edmonton music scene, playing in bands like Anubian and In The Midst Of A Murder since the early 2000s.

The band draws influence from acts like All Shall Perish, August Burns Red, and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a foothold on their influences, they root their music in technicality while layering emotional, yet gruff vocals weaved into every track. The band transitions seamlessly through djent riffs, grinding drums, and groove elements, making their sound versatile and ever-changing. Each live performance is crafted like an album played from front to back, with each song bearing a story and painting the room like a canvas — leaving the colours and experiences on each audience member.

The band will be releasing their new EP “Biophagous” on August 18th, 2017 to follow their 2016 debut EP “Schizophrene”.

“Edmonton’s Protosequence perform an agile balancing act on the new song “Shepherd” we’re bringing you from their forthcoming EP, Biophagus, a high-wire performance that deftly straddles a stylistic divide without ever losing their path forward.” No Clean Singing

“In the vein of bands like All Shall Perish & Born of Osiris, Protosequence kick proceedings off with the furiously tech riffing of Parasitic, a wild & untamed slab of death metal. That is until a surprising tempo change that brings in some keyboards & more classic metal sounding guitar solo. It’s a damn strong start, one that leaves you wondering just what more Biophagous has to offer.” – Games, Braaaiiins And A Headbanging Life

“Protosequence is an act of quality over quantity.  I get seriously lost in their music, be it through a spine-damaging headbanging session (“DFL”) or stretch of melodic introspection (“Shepherd”).  Biophagous offers up another nice showcase of the band’s skill across a variety of substyles and paces.” – Metal Trenches

“Protosequence takes the insane melodic riffage of metalcore bands like August Burns Red or Novelists, and mixes them with tech death elements of bands like The Black Dahlia Murder which makes for what I think could be a band that has the potential to break through and make it huge…Biophagus is of another caliber, every aspect of it is flawless, and will not only be in my playlist but should be in everyone else’s as well. Whatever you do, do not sleep on this band. Make sure you pick up Biophagus when it releases August 18th! ” – Blood Rock Media

“Incorporating elements from deathcore, technical death metal, and, yes, even djent, Protosequence manages to maintain the listener’s interest while developing an identity that is not only unique to Canada, but to the world. ” – It Djents

“Traversing between djent and technical progressive metal” – Somberlane

BIO:

Born in Toronto in 1989, singer, songsmith and multi-instrumentalist, Morgan Rider had his earliest imaginings of life as a musician while contending with a tumultuous childhood at home.

Often overhearing his mother – who is a trained operatic soprano – rehearsing in the kitchen, his love of music and his understanding of it began to blossom at an early age. His mornings and evenings were soon spent banging away on an old Dominion upright piano – made in the town he now resides –  often to the displeasure of those around him.

Despite his ever changing family and residential climates, music remained an integral component to his maturity. In high school he would often skip class to sit in the woods to play guitar. It would also not be uncommon to see him braving a snowstorm with his guitar across his back to walk several kilometres to guitar lessons.

It is not hard to imagine that his main priority remained with music after high school, while most of his peers went on to office and factory jobs or the trades. As his freedom expanded, so too did his ambitions.

As Morgan cast his net further, he began to perform shows further distances away which began to create a small audience of peers and fans. He also began to book small shows and tours for local and out of town bands. It was not long before he was accommodating international artists.

With his expanding resources, knowledge and contacts, he began to tour his music domestically – often spending weeks or months in an old van – branching from coast to coast across Canada. In summer of 2011, Morgan was called upon by his longtime friend David Gold – who was the main songwriter and visionary of the band Woods of Ypres – to contribute his talents to Woods of Ypres for some live shows in the UK that winter. Being one of Morgan’s favourite bands, this was a sound decision for him. Unfortunately, it would not come to pass, as David died tragically months later.

Between 2012 and 2013, Morgan played his first international shows in the U.S.A. with SIG:AR:TYR and at Wacken Open Air in Germany with Crimson Shadows.

Since 2012, Morgan has performed, recorded and toured across North America, performing hundreds of gigs with a variety of heavy metal groups such as Vesperia, Crimson Shadows and SIG:AR:TYR. He also is the sole writer, engineer and visionary for his solo blues/ folk project, Deep Dark River.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 16, 2018

For fans of Soilwork, Symphony X, Dissection, Kreator, Carcass

Antichrist Mag Video Premiere BURIED REALM “Unscrupulous”

New Album Out Now “The Ichor Carcinoma” ft. All Star Metal Guests

Josh Dummer (all instruments and vocals) – Photo Credit – Tamara Clarke

A true visionary is a rare thing; but such a man is Josh Dummer. Providing all instruments and vocals on his creation BURIED REALM‘s debut, “The Ichor Carcinoma”with the exception of some very exciting guests such as Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Septicflesh), Brandon Ellis (Arsis, The Black Dahlia Murder, Cannabis Corpse), Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Dean Paul Arnold (Vital Remains), Marios Iliopoulos (Nightrage), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Ryan Strain (Recode The Subliminal), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band). Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration.
Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!); Dummer describes BURIED REALM‘s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable’. The studio project represents a hidden dimension within himself where the ‘buried disputes’ of his life are confronted only through music; where he can express musical ideas without compromising.
Teaming up with Antichrist Mag, Dummer reveals his latest lyric video “Unscrupulous”.
“This was the last song written. Almost anthem-esque. “Unscrupulous“ is the darkest and heaviest song on the album. This one is a message to the filth and greed of our society. The people that remain to live in a terrible environment, play the victim card, but won’t do anything to change their situation – taking no responsibility and existing without honor. Dean Paul Arnold (Vital Remains) is featured yet again on this song.” says Dummer.

“On this album he proves himself to be some kind of instrumental wizard, and a vocal chameleon as well. But he has also surrounded himself with an array of guests that shines like a metal constellation in the night sky.” – No Clean Singing

“Given that The Ichor Carcinoma has so many guests, it stands to reason that it has a diverse sound, ranging from hyper-speed solos, breakdowns, a mixture of screams and clean singing and more, but at the end of the day, it can be classified as an impressive melodic death metal debut.” – Decibel Magazine

“From the very beginning of this track (Apeiron II: Global Dreamer), the riffing is here to cut your limbs ready to cook a nice melodic stew. Are you with me? Shades of Scar Symmetry, At the Gates, Hypocrisy, early Nightrage, late Soilwork and a fine slice of that machine gun style technical death metal drumming are found here. A delicious plate that I know will please a good bunch of my fellow seekers of melodic metal.” – Toilet  Ov Hell

“”Buried Realm’s debut album The Ichor Carcinoma, which sees the next chapter in the soul key band member Josh Dummer’s, emotionally charged dark twisted vision come to life in the form of a hard hitting, electrifyingly intense experience for fans of Heavy Metal to experience and enjoy.” – Noizze UK  “After the melodic and haunting intro ‘Portal’ sets the tone for the album, listeners are treated to a full-frontal assault in the form of the album’s title track, ‘The Ichor Carcinoma’. This no holds barred shredfest is a perfect demonstration for what is yet to come, and a fantastic introduction to the sound that Buried Realm mastermind Josh Dummer has spent so many years working on. The track also showcases the first of many guest appearances on the album, with Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Revolution Renaissance) letting all hell loose in one of the most daring keyboard solos you’re likely to hear all year.” – Overdrive Mag

“There’s plenty of ear-candy to be found on The Ichor Carcinoma – be it in the form of aggressive melodeath riffing, soaring leads, or sheer vocal variety. While it doesn’t stray far outside of the genre realms, there’s only a handful of releases that one can think of in recent memory that execute it with this much passion and finesse. With its time of release, one hopes that the album doesn’t become lost in the mix of fall juggernauts. This is too strong to be overlooked.” – Dead Rhetoric

“There is more than enough content to shred your ears within The Ichor Carcinoma and more than enough to keep you listening over and over again, and that is just what this release does.” – Cadaver Garden

“Usually one man bands tend to sound almost amateurish due to their lack if input from other musicians, but every now and again you get one that does it well. The Ichor Carcinoma, from Buried Realm is one of those albums.” – Demons Zone

0 NEWS: One Man Studio Band NATE BOHNET To Unleash Debut Solo Album “Therapeutic Destruction”; Offers Free Download “Suicidal Illusions”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 16, 2018

One Man Studio Band NATE BOHNET To Unleash Debut Solo Album “Therapeutic Destruction”

Offers Free Download “Suicidal Illusions”

Nate Bohnet – Photo Credit: Brittany Boles

One man studio artist and Nuclear Oath bassist NATE BOHNET is ready to reveal his “Therapeutic Destruction” on his debut solo album all recorded, mixed and mastered with his producer touch at his Medicine Hat, AB based Octave Studios. Sharing with the world his emotional, groovy, melodic, organic, and therapeutic sounds, this is music cut from the very heart, a sonic sampling of a man’s soul, and while such cuts are deep and painful, the art created thereof is that of pain purged, for creator and listener alike, a symbiotic salvation if you will. Having lost his parents as a very young child; Nate has truly experienced what he writes about.

The Cambridge English Dictionary defines Destructive as “a pulling down, overthrow’ and Therapy as “pertaining to the healing art, curative’, so it is fully appropriate for Bohnet’s debut solo album to be entitled Therapeutic Destruction, for, like all true artists Nate has mined the rich seam of his own hard-experienced life experiences for inspiration.

“This album is centred around the concept that music is therapy. We all go through times in our lives where nothing seems to make sense, everything is on the edge, and you don’t know what will happen next. We have all loved, laughed, lost, and experienced tremendous grief and joy in our time alive. ‘Therapeutic Destruction’ means harnessing all the negative energy that comes into your life, and unleashing it in music that some might consider destructive. I felt that the title fits the main idea of the album; using music as a way of therapy and harnessing it in such a way as to allow myself to deal with aspects of my life, and if one song reaches you and connects with you; it has done its job. The overarching message is that regardless of all these low points in our lives, all we have to do is push forward and strive. The only thing holding you back is your mind.” says Bohnet.

The first single “Suicidal Illusions” is now streaming at the following link:

plus available for free download on Bandcamp

Bohnet adds:

“We have all been there, whether we have acted on it, or it has just been a passing thought. Regardless though the subject isn’t easy and sometimes the only way to help someone who may be dealing with that situation, is to talk about it and be present.”

“Therapeutic Destruction” features 14 heart felt heavy tracks and due out February 16, 2018 for free download.

Track Listing:
1. Breaking Through The Walls 04:26
2. The Sensation Of Falling 03:56

Prog Metal Guitarist DUSTIN BEHM Posts Playthrough “Alien Voodoo”

North American Release of Debut Album “The Beyond” Out Jan 19th via Rockshots Records

Dustin Behm – Photo Credit: Sleeper Studios
Progressive metal guitarist DUSTIN BEHM has posted a new playthrough video for his track “Alien Voodoo”, which is off his debut solo album “The Beyond” released this past November in Europe and set to be unleashed in North America on January 19th, 2018 via Rockshots Records.
Guitar Playthrough – “Alien Voodoo” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZnMy9QifXE

Picking up the guitar at the age of 13 and attending the Guitar Institute of Technology at the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, Behm studied with the likes of world renowned guitarists Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Greg Harrison and tapping master TJ Helmerich.

After being snowed indoors for weeks at a time in one of the most extreme winters in Oregon history, Behm (guitarist for Portland’s instrumental progressive metal band INCREATE) was eager to create new music and began work on his dream of creating his first solo album. After writing and recording during the spring andsummer of 2017, Behm‘s debut solo album “The Beyond” was complete. On the the 13 track album, Behm plays guitar, E-Bow, bass, keys and programming as well as handling production duties and album layout.
“The Beyond” was inspired musically by early 90’s progressive death metal such as “Spheres” era Pestilence combined with modern metal influences Meshuggah, Allan Holdsworth and Chris Poland’s “Return to Metalopolis”. Other inspirations for this debut were Behm‘s simple love for classic horror movies, especially European horror of the 70’s and 80’s that can be seen in the album artwork, skillfully painted by Mark Cooper. The artwork represents figures from a series of nightmares Behm had as a child (of which Mark was unaware when he painted the piece).

About:

Dustin Behm’s guitar talents began at the age of 13, being inspired by guitarists such as James Murphy, Dimebag Darrell, Joe Satriani, Tak Matsumoto, and Al Di Meola. In 2005, Behm attended the Guitar Institute of Technology at Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles where he studied with world renowned guitarists such as Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Greg Harrison and tapping master TJ Helmerich. There he discovered the music of his diverse main influences: Allan Holdsworth, Shawn Lane, and Meshuggah.

After his time at Musician’s Institute, Dustin returned to Portland and played with a variety of metal bands in the area, ranging from symphonic metal to death metal. In 2012, Dustin had his original music played on FM radio in Portland and even taught guitar lessons in Italy with his friend and fellow guitar shredder Gianluca Ferro.

Near the end of 2013, Behm helped form the instrumental progressive metal band Increate. Increate’s self-released, first album Void released to excellent reviews in February 2017. Void was produced in Sweden by legendary metal producer Jocke Skog. Dustin handled the album art and layout in addition to lead guitar.

Behm is currently writing material for a new Increate album and regularly playing live shows around the Northwestern United States. Dustin has shared the stage with artists such as Amorphis, Dark Tranquility, Archspire, Arkaik, Rhapsody of Fire, Inanimate Existence, Vale of Pnath, Oceano, I Declare War, The Kennedy Veil, and Disentomb among others.

Mexican symphonic folk metallers CABRAKAÄN will be hitting the road with Quebec’s Valfreya and Alberta’s Forsaken Rite for this year’s “March Of The Frozen Western Canadian Tour”. The tour will see the Mexican transplants whom now call Canada home and residing in Calgary, AB perform in three provinces during the month of February. During the tour, CABRAKAÄN will showcase new tracks from their upcoming 2018 full length “Cem Anahuac” due out in spring 2018 to follow their 2014 debut EP “Songs From Anahuac”.

Staying true to their roots, CABRAKAÄN‘s music combines elements of metal orchestrated with Mexican folklore along with a wide variety of instruments such as strings, acoustic guitars, Jarocha harp, marimba, ocarinas, Huehuetl, and Teponaztle. Their lyrics are in English, Spanish, Zapoteco, Nahuatl and other ancient Mexican languages. The band’s name is based on a character from the Mayan sacred book known as the Popol Vuh, where Cabrakan was the god of mountains and earthquakes.

“We are proud our roots and our culture and we want to share it with the world through our music. When we are on stage, we try to give our fans a great experience by creating an atmosphere from the time of the Aztecs, using costumes and make up. The purpose of our sets too is to give fans more of our culture visually and musically so they can connect with us and enjoy the performance even more.” says drummer Marko Cipaktli.

Tour Dates:

Feb 16 – Calgary, AB – Distortion – info
Feb 17 – Edmonton, AB – The Forge On Whyte – info

About:

CABRAKAÄN was formed in Toluca, Mexico in 2012 and have been calling Canada home since first performing in the country at the 2017 Metalocalypstick fest in Lone Butte, BC where the beauty of the North won them over and encouraged them make the grand decision to relocate.

Their debut EP “Songs From Anahuac” was unleashed in 2014 and displayed a mix of death, folk, and symphonic European influences with Prehispanic instruments along with storytelling of Mesoamerican mythologies (Aztec, Mayan, Tlaxcaltecan, Olmecan) plus Mexican folklore such as La llorona, La Bruja, Day of The Dead.

Wasting no time in Canada, CABRAKAÄN are currently completing production on their follow up full length album entitled “Cem Anahuac” set for release in spring 2018. The album will be an expression of pride for their roots, history and traditions along with their love for metal and traditional music from their home country of Mexico.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 15, 2018

For Fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, HammerFall, Manowar, Saxon

SONIC PROPHECY Streaming Album Title Track “Savage Gods”

New Album “Savage Gods” Out Jan 19th via Rockshots Records

Music Video “Night Terror”

American power metallers SONIC PROPHECY have revealed their third single and the title track “Savage Gods” off their upcoming third full length set to be unleashed via Rockshots Records on January 19, 2018.

The band comments:

“Savage Gods is an epic song about an epic battle raging among the mythical Gods for supreme power over the world. Musically it ranges from technical and chaotic to driving, powerful, and aggressive.”

“Savage Gods” is now streaming at the following link:

“Savage Gods” follows SONIC PROPHECY‘s 2015 sophomore release “Apocalyptic Promenade” (Maple Metal Records), an album that combined the melody and beauty of symphonic power metal while maintaining the crunch, drive and power of traditional metal plus their 2011 debut “A Divine Act of War”, which had its music placed in the television series “Rock n’ Lock”, the video game “Volgarr the Viking” and movie Danny Trejo’s “Vengeance”.

The upcoming release lyrically covers many topics, from quests and medieval wars, to mechanized genocide, to the dangers associated with extremist ideologies. Broadening and stretching their musical palate, “Savage Gods” will give fans an adventurous listening experience.  It’s an album that combines melodic hard rock, driving heavy metal, and chest pounding anthems in a way that is uniquely Sonic Prophecy.

“We think our fans will love this album! Savage Gods, as a record, basically combines all of the things I think people liked about our previous releases and then moves us forward into new areas musically and lyrically. For our fans, there will be no mistaking this is Sonic Prophecy, but we definitely cover some new exciting ground on this record. This is pure heavy metal with driving guitars, thundering drums, and some of what I feel is my best vocal work to date. With songs “Night Terror, “Unholy Blood” and the album title track, we’ve really laid down a brutal sonic backdrop, along with keeping the melody, which is important to our music.” says vocalist Shane Provstgaard

“Savage Gods” is available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes.

Music Video – Night Terror

Song Stream – “Unholy Blood”

Following “Savage Gods” release, SONIC PROPHECY has plans to hit the road and tour across North America, Europe and beyond. The band has performed with Tyr, Alestorm, Ratt, Cinderella, Accept and Sabaton.

“Spitting out earth shattering riffs, screeching solos & plenty of memorable hooks comes Savage Gods. An album with plenty of the old school about it in regards to the classic power/heavy metal style it adopts. Fans of Judas Priest will feel right at home.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“A fine album to start power metal season 2018!” – Lords of Metal

“This is a band very much drawing influence from timeless sources like Judas Priest, Queensryche and Hammerfall and “Savage Gods” sounds like a blending of all those bands. The production is big and bold, the musicianship is solid.” – Wormwood Chronicles

“This is something for every true fan of good old heavy metal.” – Hard Rock Info

“If you haven’t encountered Sonic Prophecy before, think a blending of bands such as Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, Manowar, Blind Guardian, etc. In other words, very enjoyable heavy/power metal with some epic and symphonic streaks thrown into the mix…As far as I’m concerned Savage Gods is a pretty damn essential listen for any power metal fan.” – Wonderbox Metal

“Pure American steel hasn’t sounded this good in a while…Utah natives Sonic Prophecy are back with a third album, Savage Gods – and what a superb piece of work it is too…” – Sentinel Daily

0 NEWS: Finnish Druid Folk Metal UNSHINE Unleash New Video “Visionary’s Last Breath”; New Album “Astrala” Out via Rockshots Records – Jan 19th, 2018 (EU), Feb 9th, 2018 (NA)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 12, 2018

For fans of Doom metal, Post-Metal, Folk Metal and Black Metal

Finnish Druid Folk Metal UNSHINE Unleash New Video “Visionary’s Last Breath”

New Album “Astrala” Out via Rockshots Records – Jan 19th, 2018 (EU), Feb 9th, 2018 (NA)

Inspired by artists as diverse as Enslaved, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, Tangerine Dream and Iron Maiden, UNSHINE is described as ‘Finnish druid and folk metal’ by five friends whom all were raised in the countryside villages of Western Finland.

With a long history of recording and playing behind them, UNSHINE are super-stoked about the upcoming release of their new album “Astrala” due out January 19, 2018 in Europe and February 9, 2018 in North America via Rockshots Records. The album is inspired by the invisible side of the Earth. The first five album songs address the manifestations of Astrala and the last five songs describe travels to Astrala. The album has a touch of Nordic melancholy written all over it and it includes music meant to create landscapes and themes from folk stories, mythology and nature religions, but also to present personal views describing the spiritual meaning of a forest as a cultural concept. The binding theme here is forest, although this is not a theme album.

As guitarist Harri Hautala says proudly.

“Unshine has always been a band without the traditional role models. For us, the most important thing in a song is the melody. Sounds and rhythms create the overall atmosphere, but the melody makes the whole ancient story in it come to life.”

Nature is the true influence on UNSHINE’s music. Their alpha and omega. Their beginning and end. The modern world may have almost forgotten the ancient ways, but UNSHINE keep them alive in words and music. Creating songs to reunite the old bonds between the dolmen gods and digitised mankind. Nature is not our enemy, it’s our physical and especially spiritual home.

Exploring these values in their new album “Astrala”, UNSHINE unleash their new video “Visionary’s Last Breath”.

The band comments:

“On this track, we tell the story of a healer preparing for the journey to ASTRALA and this requires purification of soul and body. It is fascinating to think that a modern human could also apply these same methods in most of the everyday activities. If it has worked for thousands of years, why did we forget these ways? This quite heavy song is played in low tuning in order to create the right atmosphere.”

0 NEWS: KARKAOS Unleash New Video “Tyrants”; Album Out Now “Children of The Void”

  • January 11, 2018
  • by Asher
  • · Karkaos · Music News

(contact info below)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – January 11, 2018

For fans of Epica, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth, Children Of Bodom, Iced Earth

KARKAOS Unleash New Video “Tyrants”

Album Out Now “Children of The Void”

One of Montreal’s most reputable and celebrated melodic extreme metal acts KARKAOS is proud to unleash their new music video “Tyrants” off their latest offering “Children of The Void” featuring new vocalist Viky Boyer, drummer Justine Ethier (Blackguard) and lead guitarist Samael Pelletier along with collaborations with guest artists Lindsay Schoolcraft (Cradle of Filth) and Morgan Lander (Kittie).

The bands comments:

“Karkaos is extremely proud to release its new video for the song ‘’Tyrants’’. This new video crafted by JP Charlebois, known for his work with Ion Dissonance and Slaves On Dope, is the perfect visual vessel to bring this song to your screen by being as brutal, relentless and intricate as the song itself.

We felt that Tyrants was the perfect song to give a second and different look to Children Of The Void. Its powerful meaning can easily be applied to our world and the weird times we all seem to be going through. We need to remember that we will always be stronger united than divided and this song is a testament to people taking the lead when our leaders couldn’t. Make sure to watch it and share it with your friends and pick up a copy of the album or some merch if you enjoyed it.”

Watch “Tyrants” at the following link:

“Children of The Void” was recorded, mastered and mixed with Christian Donaldson and Marc-o Frechette at The Grid (The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Neuraxis, Beyond Creation) and Silverwings Studios for keyboards (Blackguard, Ex-Deo , Distoriam) in Montreal, QC. The artwork was made by the immensely talented Marcela Bolívar while the layout was done by Fred Riverin from I Legion.

“Children of The Void” available on Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and all major online retailers.

The mix of female vocals against the death metal growls, the super-fast drum beats, the screaming guitar solos & action packed orchestral elements really push Karkaos to another level. Think the guitar style of Children of Bodom with the brutality of Arch Enemy & the melodic nature of Epica but with their own unique sound.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“the way that Karkaos infuses all of their elements that make it a standout record. This is a band that can strike hard and fast if they want to, and on a number of occasions bring out some rather pleasing, death metal-induced heaviness.” – Dead Rhetoric

“Karkaos’ second full-length feels like a gift that keeps giving. There’s always something to get excited about – be it a snarling riff, beaming melody, or a soaring vocal. Symphonic melodic death metal that can move from visceral and aggressive to epic and catchy on the drop of a hat. It contains all the quintessential elements and presents them in a way that still feels fresh and exciting. You won’t find a better example of the style this year.” – Dead Rhetoric #5 on Best of 2017 List

“This is massively majestic and leaves a lasting impression and asserts that Karkaos are a band to watch out for.” – Dark Art Conspiracy

“Definitely appealing to the symphonic and melodic crowds and hitting extreme metal and metal audiences in equal measure. Karkaos know exactly what they want to be and exactly where they’re going and are likely to steadily receive more attention for their efforts.” – Noizze UK

“Ok, here is my first impression : Wow! Karkaos, from Montréal returns with this new album and it’s great… The first connection my brain did was Amon Amarth, Karkaos has that powerful sound that makes you ready to go for a journey against stronger forces. All the elements that are added to the music, bring up the word epic in my head. The music is fast and hits hard in all of the songs. I loved this album and will listen to it again.” – Re Zine

“a solid album with plenty of horns-to-the-sky crescendos” – Metal Trenches

“the band delivers a very well-crafted alternative for Arch Enemy, at least as theatrical music and a slightly darker approach. Fans of the genre will surely love this.” – Lords of Metal

“An album that makes an impact, a great impression. They have matured so much since 2013 and they did an awesome job on this album. They worked two years to make it and it showed. It’s one of the best releases of the year.” – Metal Temple
