Vancouver’s KOSM are ready to plunge listeners into the dark universe of Bloodborne with their new EP “Eyes On The Inside” due out Friday, June 28, 2019 and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with MetalInsider.net for the release’s full stream at the following link: https://www.metalinsider.net/new-music/exclusive-ep-stream-kosm-eyes-on-the-inside

This dark and agile record shows that KOSM has matured in sound since releasing their 2018 Lovecraftian inspired debut album “Cosmonaut” and is the first release that features all members of the band contributing to the writing process. The band tells about the motivation for writing this album:

“We really set out to give people what they were asking of us, we all feel it’s going to be received incredibly well. On top of that, this is 100% for all the Bloodborne fans that trolled us into oblivion last year, so we hope that they love it just as much as the fans of progressive metal do! It’s heavier, trickier, and more concise with obvious nods to our biggest influences including Tool, Mastodon and Gojira.”

Quoting that they spent less time on this release than the previous one, KOSM feels like this is their strongest material to date focusing on the lore of the Bloodborne game and toying with their musicianship to create a five-track record that is heavier and more sonically detailed than earlier material.

Both progressive metal and Bloodborne fans alike will find a special place in their hearts and ears for “Eyes On The Inside”.

The EP will be available on Spotify, Bandcamp and Apple Music as of June 28th.

Upcoming Show Dates:
June 29-30 – Lone Butte, BC – Lone Butte Community Hall (Metalocalypstick Fest)
July 6 – Calgary, AB – Border Crossing (Decimate MetalFest)

1. Yharnam (5:25)
2. Clocktower (5:12)
3. A Call Beyond (4:16)
4. Old Blood (6:58)
5. Eyes On The Inside (4:56)
EP Length: 26:49

EPK – https://wp.me/pciNW-dsaBio:
KOSM is a progressive metal band hailing from Vancouver BC, Canada. Combining influences from Mastodon, Tool and Gojira; their sound is dynamic and unquestionably lethal. Since their induction in 2016, they have been making their mark in Vancouver’s metal scene as an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Familiar to members of the progressive metal covenant, and playing with themes from the H.P. Lovecraft and Bloodborne universes; KOSM is quite unique and authentically its own being. Their first release, 2018’s “Cosmonaut” was an album loosely based on the Lovecraftian myth of Cthulhu and each song was meant to walk the listener through a story from beginning to end. Following this, the band is now gearing up for the release of their latest release in 2019, “Eyes On The Inside”, an EP exclusively based on the Bloodborne video game.

“Vancouver’s KOSM kick the door in with Cosmonaut, their monstrous full-length debut. Brace yourself for a satisfying trip through an exciting mountain range of cascading, meaty riffs, swelling rises and heady drops, all led by the powerful, soaring vocals of the dynamic Jessie Grace. ” – Beatroute BC

“KOSM cite Tool, Gojira and Mastodon as three of their main influences, and all three can be heard loud and clear on their new album, Cosmonaut. The technical, progressive musicianship of Tool meets the crushing grooves and rhythmic vocals of Gojira, and Mastodon’s ear for riffy, thunderous prog are all present on Cosmonaut, which features some of the most technical metal I’ve heard this year outside of, you know, technical death metal. ” – Decibel Magazine

“The song (Ancient Heart) itself, which swings between some appetizingly heavy progressive riffs and aggressive growls and more melodic moments (with clean singing behind them). A tough band to place in that regard, but one certainly worth seeking out as they continue to expand their sound.” – DeadRhetoric
“KOSM does a solid job of mixing technicality, mood and groove.  They have all sorts of dual guitar sections, and very psychedelic and moody parts on “Cosmonaut” as well.  They’re a well versed band with all kinds of moods and changes engaging your ears every split second. ” – Technical Music Review

“KOSM definitely show enough potential with this release to be a band that should be on your scopes.” – Noizze UK

“Kosm’s Cosmonaut isn’t bland: it’s the pleasing sound of a band following their own inner vision.” 9/10 – Hellbound

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 27, 2019

For fans of Lamb of God, Sepultura, Ektomorf

BORNBROKEN Announce Western Canadian Dates “The Harsh Truth Tour” (ON/SK/AB/BC/MB)

(L-R) Samuel Santiago (Drums), Mike Decker (Lead/Rhythm Guitar, Vocals), Pepe Poliquin (Vocals), Red Voizard (Bass), Simon Savard (Rhythm Guitar, Backing Vocals) – Photo Credit: Eric Sanchez

Following up their well-received 2013 debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’, Montreal’s BornBroken returned in 2018 with a 40-minute freight-train “The Years of Harsh Truths and Little Lies”. Full of aggressive music for the critical masses, the ten-track assault was heavier and angrier plus even included special guest vocals from Slaves On Dope’s Jason Rockman on ‘Fight’. Thriving on the fury of the injustices of the world we are living in, BORNBROKEN is ready to take their righteous rage that feeds their creative furnace on the road for summer 2019. The metal titans from Montreal’s music scene will be venturing towards Western Canada for the first time along with performing on the Loud As Hell festival in Drumheller, AB on August 3rd sharing the stage with Goatwhore, Cloven Hoof, Anciients, Planet Eater, Sludgehammer and many more. The tour will kick off on July 31st in Sudbury, ON and wrap up August 12th in Winnipeg, MB. Selected dates of the tour will be supported by Calgary’s Stab. Twist. Pull (full dates listed below).

Guitarist Mike Decker comments:

“We are glad to finally say we are headed out West on tour. It’s something we said we had to do at any cost and it will be. Our van lost its gas tank and then the transmission seized. I broke my elbow, shows were canceled, but some got added. Massive band line-up changes last minute, oh I did I forget to say “we’re poor”! Hahaha.

So with that said, we’re all set to tour with our friends in Calgary’s Stab, Twist, Pull along with many others and tell you all a little story about “The Harsh Truths and Little Lies of Life”. We got tons of merch for all to enjoy and become hand-me-downs for generations to come.

We’re not holding anything back on this one. See you all on the road while we follow the sundown to your town!”

BornBroken’s sophomore album “The Years of Hard Truths And Little Lies” is available on Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music.

(Bio written by Steve Earles)

– 30 –

“Although they hail from the famously pleasant country of Canada, BornBroken, might be the heaviest and angriest thing we’ve heard from their parts in a long time. With no shortage of punishing riffs, brutal drumming, and vicious vocals that spit lyrics to change the world, BornBroken’s sophomore album, The Years of Hard Truths And Little Lies, is worth pre-ordering before it’s due out May 18th.” – Metal Injection

“Apocalyptic thrashcore bunch BornBroken wear their political bent on their sleeves. From ‘The Years of Hard Truths And Little Lies’ Bansky-esque artwork to on-the-nose, ‘Take that politics!’ sentiment of its title, their anti-establishment sentiment is layered on thick. It’s hard to argue with their anger, in fairness. Tackling everything from inequality to government conspiracies, the Canadian band’s fury is aimed in all the right directions… BornBroken’s unrelenting pace is proof that, even in the supposedly docile nation of Canada, there’s still plenty to rally against in 2018.” – Metal Hammer

“the songs on The Years of Harsh Truths are brutal and varied enough to appeal to fans of Lamb of God, Sepultura and even groove legends Pantera and Exhorder.” – Decibel Magazine

“Working off catchy as fuck, breakdown inflected riffs BornBroken mercilessly pound the listener to pulp. There is absolutely no doubt people leave a BornBroken show with injuries.” – Hellbound

“Many of the hooks and riffs are excellent, they absolutely destroy my speakers, and the bedroom mosh commences.” – MetalStorm

“BornBroken have resurrected the intense metallic sounds of bands the likes of A Life Once Lost, Hatebreed, Nora, and Arise And Ruin that once dominated the North American metal scene. It’s wonderful to hear a band like BornBroken bringing back what some might consider the peak sound of modern metal.” – PureGrainAudio.com

About:

Featured in publications such as Metal Hammer and Billboard, Metalocalypstick Fest not only celebrates women in metal but also gives back to the community. Formed in 2016 as a non-profit organization, they are dedicated to raising funds and donating 100% of proceeds to local charities Girls Rock Camp, Vancouver Rape Relief and Women’s Shelter, and Earth Protectors plus they sponsor an independent band picked by Metalocalypstick Fest judges.

The festival was founded by Kaija Kinney of Vancouver’s Anarcheon after researching a lack of female based metal festivals to apply her band to, Kinney took matters into in her own and decided to produce the event.

“This festival means the celebration of both sexes coming together and creating something amazing. People like to say women in metal aren’t a big deal anymore and that we are all the same. I feel that is untrue, this is still a male dominated world and woman are still looked as lesser. I want to showcase all these bad ass ladies and celebrate the differences of men and woman rather than pretend we are all equal. Truth is we are different why can’t we celebrate that?” says Kinney.

0 PureGrainAudio Premiere Kingston’s JIMBO New Single ‘Mamawawa’ Off Upcoming EP Out July 2019

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 20, 2019

For fans of Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Fu Manchu, Led Zeppelin

Kingston’s JIMBO New Single ‘Mamawawa’ Off Upcoming EP Out July 2019

Self-Titled Sophomore EP Out July 12, 2019

JIMBO, out of Kingston, Canada is here to provoke the masses with their latest politically charged single ‘Mamawawa’. An acronym for the psychological concept men are men and women are women assumption the track explores an event that occurred at Queen’s University when a riot broke up during a controversial speech by Dr Jordan Peterson.

‘Mamawawa’ comes from the second EP from JIMBO entitled “Where the Vultures Gather” slated for release in 2019. Sitting on the line between hope and despair, JIMBO takes a step away from the current status quo by embracing 90’s alternative rock that doesn’t make concessions for the everyday listener, but is rather geared for the underground. With lyrical content aimed at those who find themselves in a ‘me vs. the world’ mindset, JIMBO is ready to add ammunition to attack mode.

A stealthy combination of alternative rock and dark psychedelia, ‘Mamawawa ‘ was written by Alex Van Der Heyden after him and Joe Narducci attended the event it was inspired by. They explain a bit of the occurrence:

“It became clear that there was no real dialogue between the Social Justice Warriors trying to shut down Peterson and the people who came out to hear him talk. The rioters shouted offensive slurs and violently banged on the walls and windows of the lecture hall. This just resulted in Jordan Peterson shouting louder into the microphone and his followers cheering and becoming more supportive of his side of the argument. It was like watching the divide in our society getting wider and wider and it was pretty heartbreaking.”

‘Mamawawa’ can be heard via its premiere on PureGrainAudio.com at the following link: https://puregrainaudio.com/audio/kingston-rockers-jimbo-get-political-on-their-fiery-new-single-mamawawa-song-premiere

Bio:

JIMBO was founded in Kingston, Canada in 2017 by Joe Narducci (guitar); Jacob Tessier (drums) and Alex Van Der Heyden (vocals/bass). The three bonded over a love of alternative and psychedelic rock and their collective dream of forming a band with poetic lyrics, heavy riffs and dreamy chord progressions.

JIMBO strives to create and perform rock music with dramatic artistic value that blurs between dark psychedelia, which draws inspiration from groovy fusion, hard rock, goth rock and shoegaze. Their goal is to first and foremost be musicians and artists that are able to create an immersive musical experience that will have a lasting effect on their fans. JIMBO aims to create rock music that pays respect to the past, acknowledges the future but makes the listener dissolve in the present.

Sitting on the line between hope and despair embracing 90’s alternative rock that doesn’t make concessions for the everyday listener, rather is geared for the underground. With lyrical content aimed at those who find themselves in a ‘me vs. the world’ mindset, JIMBO is ready to add ammunition for the attack.

“Jimbo is a solid band name and I was excited to have a listen to this psych-rock band from Kingston. “Thunderbird” opens their debut EP with a thumping pace before the guitars kick in with a classic blues driven lick. It’s a nice mix of 70’s hard rock and 90’s stoner tunes. There’s also a real face melter of a solo in this track as well. Grab this EP when ya got 15 minutes available to rock out.” – Kris Gies, Deli Magazine

Montreal Mathy Metallic Hardcore Trio GORLVSH Blast Debut Single / Video “Wait For Me” via Decibel Mag

L-R: Noah Baxter (Drums), Nick Boucher (Bass), Isaac Ruder (Vox) – Photo Credit: Alexis Martin

GORLVSH (pronounced Gore-Lush) is a power trio hailing from Montreal, Canada and they are eager to bring their bizarre, mathy, metallic hardcore music to ears everywhere. With a full-length album in the works, they introduce their first single ‘Wait For Me’ with the premiere of its music video on Decibel Magazine.

In the raw and gritty video, we are introduced to the unique and creative hardcore that is influenced by Converge, DFA1979, and Lightning Bolt. GORLVSH shares their thoughts on the upcoming album entitled “New City Vibe”:

“We’ve upped our production game a lot, but focused primarily on what makes our sound unique, finding riffs that work for our blend of multiple bass amps, octave pedals, and a ton of distortion and fx. We really aim to sound as good and professional as possible, despite our DIY ethos and $0 recording budget.”

To further explain the first single ‘Wait For Me’, GORLVSH had this to say:

“It’s our attempt to rip off NAILS and be heavy AF, this is also the song where we finally nailed down the tone we wanted from the unconventional bass rig”

GORLVSH is definitely giving listeners something new with their music, it’s heavy, it’s sludgy and it’s energetic, suited for anyone looking for something completely different.

‘Wait For Me’ can be watched and heard at the following link: https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2019/06/20/song-video-premiere-montreals-gorlvsh-get-wired-and-weird/

About:
Crashing out of Montreal, Canada, comes the latest in new city groove in the form of GORLVSH. This power trio hails themselves as Montreal’s Sickest Guitar-less Band, and what they lack in guitar they make up for with a tornado of crushing riffs, a dash of poppy hooks and fucked up rhythms. They combine their technical wankery with gutter punk sensibilities to bring a bizarre, mathy, metallic hardcore-esque punk sound with inspiration from Death From Above and Lightning Bolt. This bass/drum/banshee trio works hard on their music together with Nick (bass) starting with a bag of riffs, Noah (drums) adding complexity and then Isaac (vocals) writes lyrics about whatever inspires him that day and the result is unique, sludgy, metallic hardcore that can only be GORLVSH.Even with their DIY attitudes, the sound is produced and performed phenomenally and they write their music with the live show in mind. They want people to be excited to experience something new and in 2019, they will release their first full-length album “New City Vibe”. Currently the band’s debut single “Wait For Me” is out now and available Bandcamp along with their 2017 split EP with Offset.Band Members:
Noah Baxter (Drums)
Nick Boucher (Bass)
Isaac Ruder (Vox)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 19, 2019

For fans of Conquering Dystopia, Alluvial, Revocation, Nevermore, Voivod

Guitar Shredder MATT CHANWAY Shares Playthrough Video For Single ‘The Beyond’

A finalist of Guitar Idol, the world’s foremost guitar competition showcasing the top emerging players on the planet along with holding a fellowship in music performance from the University of West London, instrumental guitar shredder Matt Chanway returns with his new single ‘The Beyond’, which is one of four planned tracks to be released in the second half of 2019. As a Canadian guitarist, instructor, and session musician from Vancouver BC, Chanway’s single ‘The Beyond’ follows his critically acclaimed debut self-titled album released in 2016.

Chanway’s playing is inspired by a combination of the old and new school, with rock guitar players from the ’80s, modern progressive “shredders” such as Dan Mongrain and Jeff Loomis, as well as 70’s jazz-rock musicians John Mahavishnu and Al Di Meola. Fans of challenging, progressive, intense instrumental music artists such as Alluvial, Tony Macalpine, Martyr, Vitalism will enjoy Chanway’s music.

Chanway adds:

“Unlike my debut album that was a compilation of material written from 2008-2016, ‘The Beyond’ is the first of brand new instrumental music I have written from scratch. I chose the simple track title both as a representation of music, which pushes beyond my previous creative boundaries and of my own transformation in the past year from an aspiring shred guitar player to a full-time pro musician.”

Listen and watch to ‘The Beyond’ at the following link: https://youtu.be/iPqWB64OjVM

The single is also available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

“You can hear the love of playing the guitar that emanates from the fingers of this extremely talented player with song after song of thrills and heavy shredding.” – Altered Frequencies

“This is not an album just for shredders, it’s for anyone who wants an album of great metal that will get your head banging and wear your air guitar out.” – The Ripple  Effect

“Burstfire solos, frantic time signatures, complicated riffing and the like are all signposts of an artist who wants to see how far he can go. Unsurprisingly, this ambition pays off. The release could stand on its own as proof that Matt could play alongside the world’s greatest in shred guitar.” – Prog Sphere Magazine, February 2017

“The progressive metal genre never ceases to provide scores of insanely skilled guitar-slingers, and Vancouver’s Matt Chanway can now be recognized as another mind-blowing practitioner of the style.” – Guitar.com

“Ferocious, fast, and fucking awesome, Matt Chanway indeed has a scintillating skill that surely many would aspire to. His compositions are interesting, invigorating, intense, and inspiring: everything instrumental prog metal should be.” – Swept Media

LOGICAL TERROR’s New Music Video ‘Transition’ Forces You To Question Your Sanity

Italian metal band LOGICAL TERROR has just released a brand new video for their single ‘Transition’. The spine crushing track is off the band’s album “Ashes of Fate” full of sophisticated lyrics, and technical compositions. The album has already garnered over 2,000,000 Spotify streams.

The video is a well-produced gambit that ushers in the sludgy, heavy hitting metal that LOGICAL TERROR has been crafting for almost a decade. The album “Ashes of Fate” was produced by Dysfunction Productions (Fear Factory, Mnemic) and features guests Jon Howard (Threat Signal, Imonolith) and Bjorn Strid (Soilwork).

Always one for constant enhancement and evolution of their sound, LOGICAL TERROR have performed alongside many well-known bands including Sepultura, Arch Enemy, and Soilwork.

Fans of Fear Factory, Soilwork, and Meshuggah will have a special interest in LOGICAL TERROR, along with anyone keen on blast beats, punishing vocals and fast riffs.

BLACKSTAR REPUBLIC Signs To Zombie Shark Records; New Album “Humanatti” Out June 28th

Texas industrial rockers, BlackStar Republic have inked a deal with Zombie Shark Records. The band’s sophomore album, “Humanatti”, was produced by Josh Johnson at Great Interstellar Studio and is set to be released on Friday, June 28th, 2019. The band combines styles that span across many genres; mixing industrial elements and old-school rock plus metal influences with modern a modern twist.

The band has released an official music video for the track, ‘Nuclear Hollywood’, which can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/8Hg6MTnGOVU

Blackstar Republic released the following statement in regards to the signing, “We are very excited to have joined forces with Zombie Shark Records and Noah “Shark” Robertson with the release of our new album ‘Humanatti’. This is an album we worked on for a while and took some risks in doing things we haven’t done before. We feel we kept the intensity of our past work but also added more melodic moments and harmonies. It crosses in and out of some metal genres. We have never wanted to be put in a certain genre box. We can’t wait to get these songs to the masses!”

“Humanatti” is available for pre-order at www.zombieshark.net and major streaming sites such as iTunes, Amazon, and more.

Track Listing:
1. Humanatti
2. Dead Man Walking
3. Nuclear Hollywood (Apocalyptic Mix)
4. Desensitized
5. She’s the Devil
6. Animalistic
7. Xciter (Featuring Steve Page from RIVETHEAD)
8. Shell-Shocked

With appearances at Rocklahoma and Ride For Dime, regular airplay on Dallas’ 97.1 The Eagle, and a song featured in the horror comedy ‘Cherokee Creek’ – BlackStar Republic show no signs of slowing down.
