NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 18, 2020

For fans of Russian Circles, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, And So I Watch You from Afar

Atmospheric Visual Prog LAKEMAN Share Video “Powers Creek”

New EP “Progenitor” Out Now!

Visual instrumental prog band LAKEMAN is sharing with fans their music video ‘Power Creeks’ in support of their EP “Progenitor” released this past November.

The track is based on a local myth from the Okanagan Valley where the band is based in British Columbia. As the story goes, an apparition of a middle-aged man who seems to be searching for something or someone has been seen throughout the Powers Creek area. Rumours have circulated that it is the ghost of a local man who died in the area searching for his still-missing daughter. Others believe this is the ghost of William Russell Spears, a fugitive who gunned down an RCMP officer and then hid in the area during a manhunt during 1965. William Russel Spears turned the gun on himself before he was apprehended by authorities.

The cinematic tale can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/jxOKRGtdT94

“Progenitor” is the second audio-visual release from LAKEMAN. Most of the EP was recorded live off the floor by Kaylub Burke at the Center for Arts and Technology with mixing and mastering by Andy Ashley. Visual elements for the EP were filmed and edited by Jonathan Robinson, and lighting was operated by Joshua Goodwin.

Robert McLaren explains further:

“We all seem drawn to lo-fi expression for this project. I personally love to capture moments rather than reproduce them. 90% of “Progenitor” is live off the floor, recorded as a band playing together in a room. I would not suggest this for most bands, it is a waiting game to find the take that everyone played their best and usually, time is not a luxury when you are in a studio. However, you have to learn to love your blemishes and flaws as a band when you record this way. It is a form of radical self-acceptance. I like to also add that we have 20 more minutes of recorded music in production to release after “Progenitor”.

“Progenitor” is available for stream and download via Bandcamp.
CD and vinyl versions that feature individual one of a kind acrylic pour artwork are sold out.
(Watch the EP art creation video here.)

LAKEMAN has a devoted cult-like following throughout the Okanagan Valley and British Columbia. The band’s long-form instrumental and genre-bending approach beckons audiences of various musical forms. They revel in the band’s ability to exchange instruments everything from drums to guitars, bass, keyboards, synthesizers and lately even the fiddle and banjo. All this happens on stage while the music continues seamlessly through ambient soundscapes.

The overall theme of the band is a sonic meditation of the veiled and macabre history of the Okanagan valley. The group finds their sound in a deeply collaborative approach, very little composition is done apart, and there is no “songwriter”. The band starts the compositions by first improvising together, the feel of each improvisation can be vastly different based on who is playing which instrument. As mentioned earlier the band does not have assigned instrument roles as most other bands traditionally do. You can find any one of the members doing anything from turning knobs on a synthesizer to singing into a violin before they started bowing it. After finding the improvisation the band likes, they then begin the long process of composing around this initial improvisation. Once a LAKEMAN piece of music starts to take form the band will start considering a local myth or legend to devote the theme to, this deepens the band’s thematic composition. This is when the piece will usually take its final or close to its final form.

Track Listing:
1. Powers Creek (8:08)
2. 25,000 + Hectares (7:12)
3. Pandosy (10:38)

0 Montreal Black/Thrash Maudiir Offers Debut EP “Le Temps Peste” For Free Download

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 14, 2020

For fans of Skeletonwitch, Darkthrone

Montreal Black/Thrash Maudiir Offers Debut EP “Le Temps Peste” For Free Download

Recently unleashing his debut EP “Le Temps Peste” on February 7th, Maudiir, the one-man-band black /thrash project created by F. is offering the release for FREE download via Bandcamp HERE.

Coming from the underbelly of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Maudiir is an outlet for observations on obedience and industrialization riddled with man-made waste. With 80s heavy metal influences alongside black metal and punk, Maudiir is unique in sound; hauntingly dark while being corrosive and galloping.

Starting with guitar, F. works his way through each sullen track, adding drums, recording all the colorations and textures of the guitars, adding bass, and finally writing the words, very often at the same time they are being recorded.

The pessimistic aura of the music combines with lyrics about consumer society, religion, science going awry, addiction to technology, and environmental decay. “Le Temps Peste” is intense dark music. Another release is currently in the works.

F. adds:

“‘Le Temps Peste’ is a riff-driven EP, corrosive and galloping, mixing black metal, thrash metal and NWOBHM, that makes it a unique listening experience. The blood, sweat, and tears of a one-man project.”

F. (ex-Deeply Confused, Tears for the Dead Gods) is also currently leading prog/thrash metal outfit Trinity Blast.

Maudiir is F.

Track Listing:
1. Product (5:14)
2. Abuse The Used (4:30)
3. Wasteland (5:15)
4. Surge of Fire (4:39)
5. Snakes of Creation (6:43)

“Metal through and through, this project is one of those whose sounds are perfectly heavy, but oh so unclassifiable, where the most diverse influences and flavors are skillfully mixed. With Maudiir, black, thrash and melodic death are brilliantly merged, with a touch of classic metal and NWOBHM in the sharp riffs. Le Temps Peste is full of corrosive and galloping riffs, which would make proud a traitor priest or an iron virgin, most likely to leave you with a bad neckache.” – BoulevardBrutal.com

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 14, 2020

For fans of King Diamond, At the Gates, Morbid Angel

Rockshots Records: Finnish Melodic Death Metal TORCHIA Unleash New Single “Memoirs”

New Album “The Coven” Out March 27th

Pre-Orer Available

Finnish death metallers TORCHIA have unleashed their next single ‘Memoirs’, off their forthcoming sophomore album “The Coven” due out March 27th via ROCKSHOTS RECORDS.

The track is now available for stream and download at the following links:
YouTube – https://youtu.be/kH8CHJc_1qg

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/2Sxom5n

https://spoti.fi/2Sxom5n
Apple Music (immediate download) – https://apple.co/37eurt0

Edward Torchia comments about the track:

“‘Memoirs’ presents TORCHIA at our very core. I think the signature melody of this song is one of the most memorable our guitarist Ville Riitamaa has ever written, and I love the fact that he paired it with an onslaught of death/thrash riffs. In a way, I feel ’Memoirs’ is a hybrid between ’Fury’ and ’Face of Hate’, two of the most popular songs from TORCHIA’s debut album. Lyrically, it’s a story of black magic, betrayal, and of course, death.”

Arising from the inner darkness of composer and lyricist Ville Riitamaa, TORCHIA takes inspiration from a multitude of metal subgenres and their mission is to revitalize the genre of melodic death metal by bringing in a sense of danger and unpredictability.

“The Coven” is now available for pre-order at the Rockshots Records‘ official store – http://bit.ly/Torchia_PREORDER

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 13, 2020

THE ORDER OF CHAOS Unleash Single ‘Believe In The Demon’ Off Upcoming Album “Maniacal”“Maniacal” Out In 2020

The Order of Chaos is proud to present the next single ‘Believe In The Demon’, from their upcoming album entitled “Maniacal”. This is the band’s first release in over 2 years since the release of the “Night Terror” EP and their first full-length album “Apocalypse Moon” was released over 4 years ago.

“Maniacal” is powerful, fast, to the point, hard-hitting 10 song LP full of memorable choruses and catchy hooks.

The album was engineered by Diego Fernandez at Oracle Studios and Nathan Kidd at Method Music Productions in Edmonton, AB and was mixed by Nino Laurenne at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki, Finland (Wintersun, Amorphis, Sonata Arctica) along with mastering done by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers Mastering in Espoo, Finland (Rammstein, Volbeat).

This album is The Order of Chaos’ most mature, cohesive and dynamic songwriting effort to date and the band is incredibly excited to share it with everyone who has supported them through the past 15 years as well as to all their maniacal heavy metal fans across the globe.

The second single ‘Believe In The Demon’ from the album is accompanied by a lyric video created by Brandy Black @ Lady Black Photography and Design, which can be viewed via Decibel Magazine HERE.

“’Believe In The Demon’ is the first song we wrote for this album and is quite possibly the heaviest song The Order of Chaos has ever written. It is a dark song that explores the prevalence of mental illness in modern society, and the maniacal voices we all have inside our heads.  If you have seen The Order of Chaos live in the past year or so, you have probably already heard it, as it was one of the heavy hitters in the most recent setlist.” says John Simon Fallon

“Maniacal” presents a unique and fresh sound and modern direction for The Order of Chaos and allows the band to end this era of chaos on a high note.

The album will be formally released in 2020, with several additional singles being released over the next few months.

Additional details regarding a formal label/distribution deal and future plans for the group will also be released at a later date.

Track Listing:
1. Breakpoint (3:46)
2. Maniacal (3:19)
3. Believe In The Demon (3:24)

7. The Eve of Destruction (3:37)

“The Order of Chaos is one of the best bands ever to come out of Edmonton. Their show stacks up next to any international festival act” – Darryl Bowers, Boonstock Festival

“The Order of Chaos is the fucking warning that metal is still alive and that female vocalists are more than masturbation fodder. After the 3 years gone, they have not only returned, they have taken over. This is one of the best CDs of 2015. You have been warned, this is the year of Chaos.” – Wicked Channel

“Their compositions are characterized by speed, highly skilled guitar playing that reflects on the solo and the lead parts of their music and of course melody that is combined with grooves and some thrash and melodic death metal riffs.” – Nick Parastatidis (Behind the Veil)

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 12, 2020

For fans of Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Black Label Society

Rockshots Records: Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON New Video “Keeping Company With The Dead / Astral Plane”

Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON premiere their music video “Keeping Company With The Dead / Astral Plane” off the band’s Wild West inspired debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” released during 2018 via Rockshots Records (EU/NA) and Hellfire Records (AU). If you’re a fan of classic metal in the vein of influences such as Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, and Megadeth, then this will be right up your alley.

Watch “Keeping Company With The Dead / Astral Plane” via GhostCultMag HERE.

“While The Wheels Still Turn” is available at the following links:
https://smarturl.it/greystonecanyon (Official Online Store, Apple Music, Amazon, Google Play, etc.)
Spotify  – https://spoti.fi/2Hu4rNm

In the 70s and 80s, Australia gave the world great hard rock/metal acts like AC/DC and Rose Tattoo. Now, joining those Aussie giants of rock is GREYSTONE CANYON.

The band released their debut album “While The Wheels Still Turn” on March 9, 2018, in Europe, U.S.A, and Canada through Rockshots Records and on Hellfire Records in Australia on March 12, 2018.

The album was tracked at the splendidly named Goatsound Studios in Melbourne, Australia, and then mixed in Canada, making ‘the album a real rock n’ roll frequent flyer. Mixing duties were undertaken by none other than Grammy-nominated producer and legend Glen Robinson, who had engineered, mixed and produced equally legendary acts like Annihilator, Queensryche, and Voivod.

Inspired by legends like Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth and King Diamond, “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those legends, but with the current tsunami of all things the 70s and 80s inspired, GREYSTONE CANYON are in the right place at the right time. We are traveling back to the future and they are the soundtrack!

As vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry proudly states.

“We really wanted to make an album similar to old Ozzy Osbourne record where songs like ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Goodbye To Romance’ can sit comfortably. This is music from the heart and soul!”

GREYSTONE CANYON is
Darren Cherry – Vocals / Guitars
Richard Vella – Guitars
Dave Poulter – Bass
Luke Wilson – Drums

“Greystone Canyon’s debut is a solid listening experience that should appeal to both fans of Western rock/heavy metal and classic hard rock/heavy metal.” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Inspired by classic HR legends,  “While The Wheels Still Turn” is an album that could not only sit well beside the works of those; they’re able to be so various and with a view to the futiue. With a duration of 33 min, we can find six songs and three interludes; this album won’t disappoint you!” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal Mag

“Greystone Canyon has arrived with their debut album, While the Wheels Still Turn, and it is a beauty. A flawless homage to the bands which preceded them and inspired them, this glorious collection of kick ass tracks just teases the senses and reels you in track by track. Mammoth hooks fused with technical brilliance and that old school charm just work so goddamn well, perfectly executed and tasty like momma’s home cooking.” – Rock n’ Load Mag

“The western rock vibe that gets While the Wheels Still Turn started sees the up-tempo Astral Plane grab the attention before In These Shoes delivers head-banging groove. The latter’s deep bassy sound is thrilling.” – Games Brrraaains * A Headbanging Life

“While The Wheel Still Turn is a strong debut for Greystone Canyon, a fine and entertaining album classic melodic heavy metal with some interesting twists. Recommended.” – Danger Dog Music Reviews

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – February 12, 2020

(Please share the news on media outlet and social media)

Toronto – March 7th – Help Fight Childhood Cancer – ROCKERS WITHOUT BORDERS Charity Event

March 7th in Toronto is a day to mark on your calendar as The Reverend Radio Show and Neurotic Entertainment present ROCKERS WITHOUT BORDERS, a fundraiser for children with cancer at Hard Luck.

Shawn Sexton, who is behind The Reverend Radio Show on 101.5 FM The Hawk noticed an advertisement to support the Cancer Society by holding an event. He chose to specifically support children with cancer, as he puts it in his own words:

“I had to choose a specific cause within the cancer society that the funds we raise would be directed to. There seemed to be hundreds, it was a little overwhelming as I was scrolling through them. I noticed ‘pediatric research’; I’d seen full-grown adults be destroyed by cancer in my life over the years, so my exact thought was ‘imagine what it’s like for those kids going through the same thing?’”

With an outpouring of support from the community that was bigger than Sexton ever expected, the pieces quickly fell into place. Performing at the event will be recently Juno nominated Linsday Schoolcraft (solo artist, ex-Cradle of Filth), Morgan Rider and The Deep Dark River, Johnny NoCash, In Veil, Carmen North, and Vinyl Ambush. There will also be appearances by comedians and burlesque performers.

Between 2009 and 2013, there were 4,715 new cases of cancer in children 0–14 years of age in Canada, an average of 943 cases per year and between 2008 and 2012, there were 595 cancer deaths in children 0–14 years of age in Canada, an average of 119 deaths per year (source: Canadian Cancer Society). The funds raised from this event will support further research. ROCKERS WITHOUT BORDERS will also host silent and onstage auctions with prizes including autographs, band merch, art, and comic books.

The event starts at 9 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Hard Luck in downtown Toronto and the cover is $15 at the door.

Concerning live performance, the band is loud and uses full-stack amplification so the audience can engulf themselves into the Pink Cocoon experience playing every gig like their last. Feedback and sustain are also necessary. The band’s first live performance was on April 21st, 2017 in Montreal and has played over 50 gigs in the first year.

“The songs are some of the best, stylistically, since Death Metal Pope dropped their ‘Harvest’ EP at the end of 2016. If you like a riff…and especially one that comes from a very heavy Hawkwind headspace, then you need to seek out this release immediately.” – Real Gone Rocks

“The sound and the flow of ‘Alienation’ holds up to repeat listening pretty well. A lot of the ‘flow’ appeal comes from straightforward song structures that are geared towards classic rock music.” – Grizzly Butts

“Fully absorbed into the world of squalling feedback solos and a psychedelic blues atmosphere, Pink Cocoon immediately step above the rest of the Witchcraft clones by being truly doom in their output.” -Those Once Loyal

“With trusty pedals and multiple influences, the Pink Cocoon sound is a force to be reckoned with.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

“They play a more mellow and bluesy style of stoner, cited on their website as “doom blues for your soul”, which, quite frankly, is exactly what it is. Their riffs are thick yet soft-edged, and when coupled with vocalist Zolla Marc’s soothing yet rough style of singing, create a beautifully warm atmosphere. To be cheesy, the name is fitting.” – Metal Megalomania

“Montreal’s Pink Cocoon brings heaps of fuzzy goodness with classic grunge pop songwriting. Their six song EP contains some seriously addictive bluesy riffs plus choruses that deliver oodles of ear worms that would have gotten them signed instantly to a major label a few decades ago.” – Indy Metal Vault

About:

Lutharö hails from Hamilton, Canada and this group of motivated musicians is bringing a fresh take on heavy metal to listeners around the world.

Meticulously blending a range of sounds from death metal to power metal, Lutharö is quality extreme music for all audiences. They formed in 2013 and with furious passion and drive, quickly established themselves at the forefront of the local metal scene.

Vocalist Krista Shipperbottom takes inspiration from everyday life events to create the powerful lyrics which she then belts out to the energetic guitar work performed by Victor Bucur and John Raposo. The powerful low end comes from bassist Chris Pacey and keeping everything together is Duval Gabraiel on drums. The highly streamlined group works collaboratively on each track to ensure a unique and diverse final product.

Over the years, Lutharö has grown into their distinctive sound, emerging with a heavy and dark formula that gets fans moving. In 2018, they released their debut EP “Unleash The Beast” to great reception and are set to follow it up in 2020 with their sophomore release “Wings of Agony”.Catchy riffs, blazing solos and vocals ranging from vicious growls to cleans that will send a chill down your spine, make Lutharö a well-rounded powerhouse of a band that brings beauty, aggression and skill to the genre.

Their unbridled stage domination has been apparent with live gigs alongside Unleash the Archers, Alestorm, and The Agonist. Even with an already impressive resume, Lutharö is just getting started.

“What Lutharö offer is a melodic strain of thrash metal with melo-death overtones and light progressive tinges. Think of Unleash The Archers buying shots of Jagermeister for Iron Maiden and Arch Enemy.” – Metal Observer

“One thing is for sure and that’s Lutharo are larger than life on stage.” – Decibel Geek

“…you will experience non-stop excellent, energetic, forward looking mix of speed, thrash and melodic death metal…Lutharo deserves to be noticed…” – Metal Reviews

“an extremely fun, crisp and pleasant fusion of 80’s Heavy Metal with modern-day Melodic Death Metal the likes of The Agonist and Arch Enemy. Spearheaded by the talented she-wolf Krista Shipperbottom, whose vocal style, hair and looks remind me of The Agonist’s stunning frontwoman Vicky Psarakis, the band delivered a solid performance for the fans.” – The Headbanging Moose (Live Review – Toronto – 2018)
