Los Angeles extreme metal collective Ashen Horde continues their march toward the release of their fifth full‑length album, “The Harvest,” arriving May 1st, 2026. Following the crushing momentum of the first two singles, “Entropy and Ecstasy” and “Voids in the Ash”, the band now reveals their third offering, the blistering and atmospheric “Apparition.”

The new track showcases the band’s signature fusion of death metal ferocity, black‑metal tension, and progressive unpredictability. Described by guitarist and primary songwriter Trevor Portz as “probably the heaviest song on the album,” “Apparition” draws inspiration from early death metal before veering into eerie, off‑kilter riffing with a vaguely 70s undercurrent. Lyrically, vocalist Karl Chamberlain inhabits the voice of a tormented ghost, condemned to witness humanity’s worst impulses while questioning whether his eternal imprisonment is punishment for forgotten sins.

“He’s slowly going insane in his eternal prison,” Portz explains, capturing the psychological dread that permeates the track.

“The Harvest” marks the band’s first full‑length release with Chamberlain, whose dynamic vocal range has expanded Ashen Horde’s sonic palette. Though not a traditional concept album, the record is unified by a central theme: endings. Each track explores a different facet of finality—personal, societal, mythological, or apocalyptic.

The album’s striking cover art, created by artist Venus Kohana, features two red skeletons that immediately captivated Portz when he encountered the piece at an art show. The imagery not only set the visual tone for the album but also directly inspired the lyrics of the title track.

“It’s unique and cool, and very metal; it even inspired the lyrics to the title track,” says Portz.

Musically, “The Harvest” is Ashen Horde at their most varied and adventurous. From the Voivod‑tinged chaos of “Entropy and Ecstasy” to the grunge‑infused harmonies and volcanic fury of “Voids in the Ash”, a song depicting the final days of Pompeii, the album thrives on contrast. Tracks like “Backward Momentum” blend Opeth‑style clean vocal layering with 90s‑inspired riff breaks, while “Autumnal” opens the record with a slow‑burn ascent into full black‑metal intensity.

The rollout for “The Harvest” began with the release of “Entropy and Ecstasy”, accompanied by a music video that marked the first time any two members of Ashen Horde had ever performed together, despite the band’s decade‑long history. The track introduced fans to Chamberlain’s voice and set the thematic tone for the album with its tale of a couple who find exhilaration in global collapse.

Recorded entirely remotely, “The Harvest’ is the culmination of Ashen Horde’s evolution from a one‑man project into a fully realized extreme metal entity. The album’s eight tracks explore endings through myth, history, personal struggle, and existential dread, all filtered through the band’s genre‑defying approach.

The title track, inspired by the album’s artwork, imagines a hidden entity watching humanity’s self‑destruction until the moment it decides to emerge and consume everything, a metaphor for our species’ relentless march toward ruin.

Finnish melodic metal act After Infinity return with “Beyond Eternity“, a sophomore release that consolidates and expands the project’s identity with a sharper focus on compositional depth, vocal diversity, and emotional range. Conceived and led by guitarist and songwriter Zsolt Szilagyi, the album builds on the foundation of the band’s 2024 debut, pushing further into progressive structures while retaining a strong melodic core.

Lyrically, “Beyond Eternity” explores a wide emotional spectrum, moving between anger, resistance, introspection, and hope. Vancouver, Canada’s traditional heavy metal torchbearers IRON KINGDOM return with the second single from their upcoming sixth studio album “Shadows and Dust,” due out June 6, 2026, marking their first release under their new label partnership with Steel Shark Records (France), which will offer an exclusive EU edition limited to just 300 double‑CD copies. Disc 1 will contain the full “Shadows and Dust” album, while Disc 2 will feature a “Best Of” collection highlighting tracks from Iron Kingdom’s previous five releases. In addition, the label will introduce a third vinyl colour (100 copies) available only to EU fans.

Following the momentum of their first single and music video “Defenders”, the band now unveils the powerful new track “Blood and Steel”, accompanied by an epic lyric video that dives deep into the album’s themes of endurance, mortality, and the human cost of ambition.

Bassist Leighton Holmes explains further:

“The inspiration for ‘Blood and Steel’ came from two places. One draws from Steven Erikson’s Malazan Book of the Fallen, and the other from imagining myself as a soldier in Alexander the Great’s army, twelve years into a campaign, thousands of miles from home, questioning how I got there. The endless marching, the battles, the weight of the gear… It’s a brutal life, and in a small way, it parallels the blood, sweat, and tears of touring in a band.”

Musically, “Blood and Steel” stands apart in the IRON KINGDOM catalogue.

“We wanted the song to feel like a march. It’s very bass‑ and drum‑driven in the verses, with guitars layered in strategic spots. It’s a different kind of song for us, and I think it’s going to add something special to our live sets,” adds vocalist/guitarist Chris Osterman.

Vanderlust was born from a precise artistic vision: to tell science fiction stories through the language of melodic/progressive metal. Anthea is a symphonic metal band from Los Angeles, California, known for their distinctive theatrical approach and dynamic blend of symphonic, melodic, and progressive metal elements. Founded in 2015 by vocalist and keyboardist Diego Valadez, Anthea emerged from a desire to explore a more expressive and cinematic musical language combining powerful metal foundations with strong melodic sensibilities and dramatic atmospheres.

NYC’s rising thrash force Another Demon has announced the official re‑release of their debut EP “As Above So Below,” out now as of April 18th, 2026, via Ragebreed Records, with global digital distribution through Earache Records. Originally issued independently, the EP now returns with expanded reach and renewed momentum, cementing the band’s fast‑growing presence in the modern thrash landscape.

The re‑release also spotlights a major highlight from the original EP: a guest appearance by legendary guitarist James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary) on the track “Drawn and Quartered.” Murphy’s contribution adds a historic stamp of extreme‑metal pedigree to the band’s already razor‑sharp sound.

Formed in 2023, Another Demon is built from decades of collective experience across the NY/NJ/CT heavy‑music scene. Max Capshaw (Bass/Vocals) is known for his work with Sick of It All, H2O, Murphy’s Law, Burn, and more. Max brings a hardcore pedigree and commanding vocal presence. Frank Tosi (Lead Guitar) is the primary songwriter for the EP, shaping the band’s tight, riff‑forward thrash identity. Canadian heavy metal force THUNDEROR proudly announces the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, “Bleed For It,” available now on April 17, 2026, through Boonsdale Records. The album marks a major creative leap for the band, expanding their signature blend of heavy metal, hair metal, and rock‑opera theatrics into a full‑scale concept experience.

Formed in 2020 by multi‑JUNO‑nominated musicians JJ Tartaglia and Jonny Nesta (both known for their work in Skull Fist), THUNDEROR quickly rose to prominence with their debut “Fire It Up” (2022), which hit #1 on Earshot’s National Loud Chart. Extensive touring across Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America followed, with the band sharing stages with Airbourne, U.D.O., Enforcer, Night Demon, and more.

The release of “Bleed For It” arrives during a busy year for THUNDEROR. The band will be hitting the road this April for an Eastern Canadian tour supporting Switzerland’s Burning Witches (Napalm Records). They were also scheduled for a European tour with Chris Holmes (W.A.S.P.), which was unfortunately cancelled recently due to Holmes’ health issues, but the band notes that more EU dates will be announced when possible.

“Bleed For It” serves as the official soundtrack to “Thunderor The Musical,” which first premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival in 2025. The album tells a sweeping story set in an alternate 1992, where adventure, danger, and romance collide.

The narrative follows Bowen, a washed‑up musician and biker who takes one last shot at glory, joined by his best friends Kenzie and Sheenah, and a local friar. Their journey pits them against a rival biker leader and thrusts them into a whirlwind of love triangles, rebellion, and self‑discovery.

“I hope this album inspires listeners to follow their dreams. Let it be the soundtrack to your unbridled life adventures,” says drummer, vocalist, and primary songwriter JJ Tartaglia.

Musically, “Bleed For It” dives deeper into Thunderor’s arena rock‑opera heavy metal identity, anthemic, melodic, emotional, and built for big stages.

“The vocals have improved drastically, and the songwriting has matured. There’s more emotion in the music, and the choruses are bigger than ever,” says Tartaglia.

Michigan’s rising extreme‑metal juggernaut Killcrown has dropped the official music video for their debut single “DEATH”, a ferocious first strike from their upcoming, yet‑to‑be‑titled full‑length album due later this year on Exitus Stratagem Records. Shot by Pixel Page Photography inside the band’s former jam space, the video captures the raw, claustrophobic violence that defines Killcrown’s sound.

“This music video is for our debut single, DEATH. It’s about messing with the wrong person and finding out the hard way. We had Pixel Page Photography shoot this for us at our old jam space. It is going to slap all of your senses!” says vocalist Steve Maple.

“DEATH” marks a turning point for Killcrown. Written in a burst of chaotic inspiration, the track was born when Orin called Maple and demanded he “get the f*ck over here” to hear a new idea. Within an hour, Maple had written some of the most impactful lyrics of his career, including a chorus so powerful it stunned the room into silence.

The final vocal take, recorded that same day, became the version used on the record.

“We truly feel that people are going to connect with this track. This album is written from a very honest standpoint that is BRUTAL, yet beautiful,” adds Maple.

Killcrown, formed by vocalist Steve Maple and guitarist/composer Orin Knuppenburg, emerged from the ashes of their former nu‑metal project Nuskin with a singular mission: create music so heavy it feels like a physical assault. Colorado power metal storytellers Siege Perilous have released the brand‑new lyric video for “Ancient Rite,” the second chapter in their sweeping 2026 concept album “Becoming the Dragon.” The track introduces listeners to the prophecy that binds the album’s protagonist, setting the stage for the epic, ten‑part saga that follows.

“Ancient Rite begins with a somber, almost foreboding tone. It’s the moment where the world of the prophecy opens up, and the listener steps into the story. It’s airy, it’s ominous, and it lays the foundation for everything that comes after,” says vocalist Shaughnessy McDaniel.

The lyric video arrives as the band continues to roll out material from “Becoming the Dragon,” following the acclaimed singles “As the Dragon Falls” (feat. Fabio Lione) and “Echoes of Home” ft. Kristin Starkey (Twilight Force, Temperance) and the album’s thunderous title track.

“Becoming the Dragon” is a fully realized narrative concept album chronicling the rise, fall, and transformation of the “Child of Prophecy.” “Ancient Rite” serves as the album’s first true narrative step after the orchestral overture, introducing the mythic forces that shape the hero’s destiny.

The track’s somber, spacious atmosphere, driven by a steady, commanding verse, reflects the uncertainty and weight of prophecy. It’s the calm before the storm that erupts in later tracks like “As the Dragon Falls,” “Chieftain,” and “Eschaton.”

Formed in Colorado by longtime friends and LARP companions Shaughnessy McDaniel (vocals), Scott Hancock (guitar), and Mark Girard (drums), Siege Perilous grew from a shared passion for fantasy storytelling and the electrifying inspiration of seeing Unleash the Archers live in 2021. Joined by Eric Fischer (bass) and later Ryan Flanagan, the band has evolved into a fully collaborative creative unit. Every track on “Becoming the Dragon” was shaped collectively, with each member contributing to the story beats, arrangements, and narrative flow. Italian heavy metal act Heavenfall unveil their new single “No Candlelight”, taken from the forthcoming album “Thorn“, set for release on May 15th, 2026, via Rockshots Records.

With “No Candlelight”, the band sharpens the direction introduced by the previous singles, moving deeper into darker and more introspective territory where classic heavy metal foundations intersect with progressive structures and a brooding tonal palette. The track unfolds with precision, shifting between tension-driven riffing and carefully structured melodic passages while maintaining a clear and controlled trajectory.

At its core, “No Candlelight” conveys a persistent sense of displacement and inner unrest. The lyrics revolve around the search for belonging, addressing not only younger generations but anyone confronting uncertainty in purpose and identity. Rather than offering resolution, the song embraces that instability, turning it into a central emotional driver.

This perspective aligns with the broader framework of “Thorn“, conceived as a cohesive exploration of human fragility. The album draws on melancholic textures and introspective themes, resulting in a listening experience that is both emotionally charged and structurally deliberate.

Heavenfall was formed in 2003 by four teenage friends united by a shared urgency to express themselves through heavy music.
