0 SPHERES’ New Music Video Takes You On A Progressive “Spiritual Journey”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 10, 2022

SPHERES’ New Music Video Takes You On A Progressive “Spiritual Journey”

Sophomore Album “Helios” Out Sept 23rd

Paris’ SPHERES will be offering up their next canvas of progressive metal in the form of their second full-length “Helios” via M&O Music (distribution Season of Mist) on September 23rd. The album follows their highly praised 2019 debut “Ionos”, which the band supported across Belgium, the Netherlands, and their home country of France including a performance at Hellfest.

“Helios” sees a fresh new lineup with founding member and album producer Jonathan Lino (Vocals, Guitars) joined by Olivier Moreau (Backing Vocals, Guitars), Clémence Santé (Bass), Jesse Haddad (Drums), and Marco Walczak (Keyboards) (studio only). The recording quintet is now inviting fans on a new spiritual journey into a dystopian world for the band’s sophomore record.

“Jonathan had written an entire album’s worth of songs and wanted to form a new line-up for both studio recordings and live shows. It’s fairly different from the first album in terms of dynamics as it has much more contrast between and within songs (it even has one track that I wrote, whereas all the previous songs were written by Jonathan L.). There are a plethora of contrasts and textures that inhabit this record: From sharp riffs to ethereal melodies, from clean singing to growls and screams, the atmosphere oscillates between dream and frenzy… Everything is designed to push the listener’s boundaries and invite them to take part in this journey. We hope that fans will notice that.” says Olivier Moreau (Guitar).

Today in preview of “Helios”, the band is sharing its first single “Spiritual Journey” in the form of a music video. It has a really drawn-out and intricate bridge section that the band compliments with fractals and other psychedelic landscapes.

“We’re glad to release Spiritual Journey as the first single from HELIOS. This is by far the most personal song on the record, as well as one of the most memorable. It shows the new direction SPHERES is heading in while keeping some of the secrets intact for people to discover upon the record’s release. It represents a lot of the frustration and sadness we all felt during the last two years while providing a sort of escape from reality, as the title suggests. We put this song out there hoping it resonates with people who have felt the same way, maybe providing a well-deserved dose of psychedelic escape along the way.” adds Jonathan Lino (Vocals, Guitars).

Our Dying World Address Atrocities In “Survivor” Off “Hymns Of Blinding Darkness”

New Album “Hymns Of Blinding Darkness” Due Out June 24th

Photos Credit – Jamie Kaufman

L-R – Austin Mitrofanis (Guitar), Graham Southern (Keyboards and Orchestration), Tom Tierney (Drums), David Ainsworth (Vocals), Raymond Sanchez (Guitar), Nick Laux (Bass)

Our Dying World’s drummer Tom Tierney attended a small boarding school in New York state, which has gained notoriety after a disproportionate number of former students choose to end their lives, and the atrocities, torment, and abuse that took place at the school have come to light. These horrors have been channeled into the single “Survivor”, which is haunting and diverse.

The song starts with clips of a joyful choral arrangement of Tierney’s high school choir before now-deceased student Jon Martin Crawford echoes his testimony in the Supreme Court. This is followed by heavy and slow riffs, acoustic and clean vocal breaks, anguished howls, and desperate pleas of a boy who was once left in the woods at a school filled with cultists and now shoulders the pain of feeling like there’s something wrong that no one will ever understand. The band comments:

“Survivor was one of those songs that we threw into the single list to really bring diversity to the two standalones before we released the record. We want to give the listener both sides of the spectrum and then let your imagination take you to what you think you’ll hear next. Aside from it being a very deep and personal song, Tom thought it might be best that the song gets its own time to stand alone so that the alumni would get to see it more for how it was written as a personal feeling and effort to work through some major issues, and not just as another song on an album that’s lumped in with some metal songs. Tom put a lot of work into this and wanted certain people to know that it was not just another topic that went into a record; there are certain people we hope it brings some closure too about events that aren’t widely discussed.”

Throughout the song, the listener can hear the agony that Tierney conveys hearing that his fellow alumni are slowly dying off, and with everything he has in him he dedicates this song to them. Through the solos, the listener can almost feel the weeps and cries in his notes and bends.

“Survivor” is heavy, both musically and in melancholia. It is recommended listening for fans of Lamb Of God, Wintersun, and Children of Bodom.

About:

Over the last few years, Los Angeles’s Our Dying World has gone through a tremendous evolution of sound from thrashy death metal of their debut EP Expedition to the symphonic and melodic keyboard-oriented stylings of bands like Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, and Dimmu Borgir.

Formed in 2018 by drummer/guitarist Tom Tierney (ex-Whiplash), the group has played shows all over the USA in their short time together, bringing their sound from the fabled Sunset Strip in Hollywood to the New Jersey Metalfest where they opened for Metal Mike of Halford.

One thing is clear from the young band as they prepare for the release of their second release; they’ve come to stir the standards that hold the metal scene and redefine them.

“We’ll make you a solemn promise: Whatever condition you happen to be in now (unless you’re in a coma), the song and video we’re about to present will make you feel orders of magnitude more alive, accelerating your heart-rate, igniting your fast-twitch muscles, and spinning your head like a glorious top. And for those of you who want your music to attack like a pack of rabid dogs, it fills that need, too. The song is “Veil of the Reaper“, and it comes from Hymns Of Blinding Darkness, the forthcoming album by the Los Angeles band Our Dying World. The new album marks a significant departure from the music on their debut, Expedition, moving in directions that may spawn memories of such bands as Children Of Bodom, Nightwish, and Dimmu Borgir, and you’ll get a vivid understanding of that when you hear “Veil of the Reaper“.” – No Clean Singing

“Closing with the excellent Melodic Death Metal-esque piece “Veil of the Reaper”, Our Dying World manages to keep the listener’s attention with soaring guitar melodies, engaging keyboards, and overall solid songs that are well crafted but need more of a personal identity. There are definitely plenty of excellent things about this release that fans of the genre will greatly appreciate, so don’t be afraid and check out this band.” – Infernal Masquerade

THIRTEEN GOATS Get Brutally Blasphemous w/ “Unholy Mass” Off Upcoming Album “Servants of the Outer Dark”

Debut Album Out July 1st, 2022

Last month, Thirteen Goats stampeded out of Canada and onto the global metal scene with the hyperkinetic, politically-charged “Return to Ruin”. That single (from their upcoming debut record, “Servants of the Outer Dark”) was accompanied by an animated video (can view below) that ended with a giant sunflower bursting out of Vladimir Putin’s skull—a deliberately unsubtle nod to the band’s Eastern European roots and aggressive anti-imperialist sensibilities.

The record’s newest single, “Unholy Mass”, takes the subgenre-hopping extreme metal maniacs in a different direction, momentarily setting politics aside to mount a blackened broadside against organized religion. Guitarist/vocalist Graham K. Miles explains in detail:

“This was the first song Rob [Fitz-Gerald, guitars/vocals] and I wrote together. He came up with almost all the riffs, and I wrote the lyrics, which tell the story of a priest determined to cleanse the world of sinners through gruesome murder. It’s about the hypocrisy of people who preach peace and love but enforce their values through violence. I also managed to sneak a Cryptopsy reference into the chorus—see if you can pick it out!”

The music itself combines sinister, slithering guitars with bone-breaking blast beats and some of the album’s most vicious vocals. According to Miles, “weird shit” happened while he was recording his takes—the studio lights kept flickering, and the temperature dropped noticeably. “I’m not superstitious,” he says, “but it felt spooky—like I wasn’t alone in there. And when I listened to the final tracks, they sounded a lot more evil than they had while I was doing them. So who knows?”, he grins. “Maybe I had a little help from beyond.”

The single was written in a single session during the introductory jam between Miles and Fitz-Gerald, who are the band’s core songwriting duo. It cemented their friendship and got Thirteen Goats off the ground. “Servants of the Outer Dark” is nine tracks of cathartic and multi-layered metal ranging from serious personal topics like suicide awareness on “Constant Torment” to balls-out camp on the hilariously literal “Vacuum-Induced Head Explosion”.

A hybrid of Florida death metal, UK grindcore, and classic 80s thrash, Thirteen Goats successfully combine their influences into something greater than the sum of their parts. They deliver an impressive force of blast beats, guitar solos, and grown men yelling ‘BLERGH’ alongside big, catchy hooks and choruses—maintaining the classic formula enough to impress old-school fans while keeping it fresh and accessible for newcomers.

The band is just getting started, but they have an arsenal of material waiting in the wings. They are a band to watch, especially by fans of Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, and Death.

The single “Unholy Mass” can be heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

The album “Servants of the Outer Dark” will be served up on July 1, 2022.

About:
Eclectic, over-the-top, and just a little weird, THIRTEEN GOATS takes cues from some of extreme metal’s most infamous acts (Death, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse) to create a tongue-in-cheek blend of different genre hallmarks that’s as hooky as it is heavy. This ain’t your dad’s death metal, but we kept the best parts. Horns up!

What Goes Up Must Come Down In Rebel Priest’s Rockin’ New Single “Dïvebomber”

New EP “Lesson In Love” Out June 24th

West Coast Canadian Tour Dates w/ Deadwolff

L-R – Jayme Black – Vocals/Bass, Nate Pole – Drums/Vocals, Benny Kemp – Guitars/Vocals

Vancouver’s Rebel Priest is three friends that have been ripping it up through rock n’ roll for years now, across Canada and the world. Their current incarnation is grease-infused trash n’ roll with a penchant for turning it up loud and getting sweaty! They have a new album “Lesson In Love” coming out shortly which will be the fifth under their studded belts. The second single is “Dïvebomber”, a classic sounding tune that the band explains further:

“Dïvebomber is a speed rock song that came together as we were chatting about WW2 dogfights and how crazy they must have been. We thought that nothing could be crazier than a dïvebomber so we picked up our instruments and it just bled out! It’s about flying high, going fast, and touching the sun, all before using gravity to get the job done. Red Hot Hate. ”

In the beginning, Rebel Priest started out flirting with a lot of different genres to see what they liked and what they could pull off, ultimately they returned to their roots and have their feet firmly planted in rock n’ roll, or at least their particular style of trash n’ roll. On “Dïvebomber”, fans will definitely hear their early speed rock influences and across the rest of the record – their own brand of heavy rock n’ roll that has a slurry of influences including NWOTHM, and glam metal.

Taking lyrical content from things they have seen or experienced, or cool stuff they are into like sci-fi, horror, 80’s comedies, and comics, Rebel Priest adds a kick-ass soundtrack to relatable lyrics that will get you up out of your seat and singing along. They work collaboratively, making sure that everyone is on board and the music just flows.

“Lesson I Love” promises to be one hell of a time, especially for fans of ZZ Top, Rose Tattoo, and Deep Purple.

The single and music video for “Dïvebomber” can be seen and heard via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

The EP comes out on June 24, 2022 via Batcave Records.

About:
Rebel Priest is a no-nonsense, real-deal rock n’ roll band composed of three seasoned musicians who have been making their way through the Western Canadian rock n roll scene for years. Vocalist/bassist Jayme Black (Lust Boys, The Toxiks); guitarist/vocalist Benny Kemp (Lust Boys, Road Rash); and drummer/vocalist Nate Pole (Kill Matilda, The Toxiks) bring nothing but unadulterated, high energy grease infused Trash N’ Roll!

The band has had the pleasure of touring Japan, and performing alongside bands such as Udo (Accept), Lordi, Diamond Head, Crystal Pistol, Flotsam, and Jetsam along with playing many headlining gigs with the energy of Motorhead meets Motley Crue. Since forming in 2014, the band has released three studio albums “R’ley Heavy” (2019), Enabler (2017 ), Self-Titled (2015) along with one live record “Dead Alive @ SBC (2017).

Now in 2022, they offering up a slab of new music in the shape of a new EP “Lesson In Love” via Batcave Records/Thundermoose Entertainment on June 24th to follow their 2021 EP “Lost In Tokyo”. The forthcoming EP “Lesson In Love” is four tracks that ready’s fans to hear the band’s NWOTHM influences along with their brand of slurry heavy Rock n Roll.

Compared to last year’s EP “Lost In Tokyo”, which was written in Japan at the very end of 2019 about their adventures in the country, “Lesson In Love” takes a new avenue as they explain:

“On this EP, we really tried to lighten it up and go back to the energy and feel that got us playing in the first place, music for and adventure or memory-making music! The soundtrack for that summer you’ll never forget or that time you did that thing and you’ll always think of it when you hear this song. It’s a feel-good and takes no prisoners combo at the same time!”

Rebel Priest is recommended for fans of Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC and Motley Crue.

0 Get Riled Up! Groovy New Video “Smoke Masters” From Chile’s SOBERNOT

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 8, 2022

Get Riled Up With Groovy New Video For Single “Smoke Masters” From Chile’s Sobernot

Hailing from Santiago, Chile, Sobernot is gearing up to release their latest single “Smoke Masters (Gimme My Money Back)” in video form, which comes off an upcoming record “Destroy” that will be released down the road. They have been playing this collection of songs live for quite some time with positive reception, and now listeners around the world can indulge in their groovy, thrashy metal that is reminiscent of the classic greats, with a modern twist. The band explains what listeners can expect on the future release:

“This album will grab you and won’t leave you ‘til you drop, we tried to have many different rhythms and vibes to pump you in every way, our thrasher side; we include a very powerful ballad; some songs have some nü metal and aggro influences. It’s pretty much an homage to our influences but with our touch of groove and fun. Also, every song is a sing-along, we love to make songs that our audience can yell in our shows alongside us. We try to have a spicy wit in our way to say things so you can have a good time reading the lyrics as well.”

As for the single “Smoke Masters (Gimme My Money Back)”, the lyrics revolve around people who talk the talk, but never follow through. In the local slang, they are known as Smoke Sellers, and usually, there are a lot of them in the music industry. Musically it contains all the elements they love about their music: a very heavy-sounding intro, classic thrash elements but also some nü metal vibes as well on the verse, a ⅞ chorus which might be odd for some but to them, jells perfectly with the groove.

The album will be the band’s second and listeners can expect a diverse range of elements within. An onslaught of power, moments of brutality, melodic breaks, and great chorus’ will all be had, as metalheads whip their heads back and forth to the infectious rhythm and solos.

Sobernot presents formidable extreme metal in “Smoke Masters (Gimme My Money Back)”, which is recommended listening for fans of Pantera, Testament, and Metallica.

The single and its music video can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/8ZikWmWqvO0

New album “Destroy” out July 7th, 2022.

About:
Sobernot is an independent groove metal band born in Santiago, Chile. By mixing classic metal with groove, Latin rhythms, and progressive rock elements, they stand out in their style through powerful and innovative riffs with a balanced use of guttural and clean voices from one of a kind. This is not only reflected in the studio, but they’ve also made their live shows and performances one of the most solid ones on the local scene. Between their most important appearances, they highlight the opening shows for Havok (June 2018), and Crisix (Dec 2018). Also, sharing the stage with three of the most iconic exponents of the old-school thrash metal genre: At War, Hirax, and Exodus in September 2019. Sobernot is about to release their second studio LP, called “Destroy” on July 7th, 2022, which continues the path built by the first album “Silent Conspiracy” (2018), keeping the riffs unique identity, powerful lyrics, and exceptional choruses, but this time powered by the co-production of Franco Gabelo (CL) and mastered at Fascination Street Studios (SWE) by Tony Lindgren (Sepultura, Opeth, Kreator).

Explore The Mind Of A Psychopath With Brutta’s (Athemon, ex-Haken) “Devon” Off Upcoming Self-Titled Album

Brutta is blackened death metal hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, and the UK. They are a new arrangement of three seasoned musicians including drummer Gledson Gonçalves; guitarist/vocalist Adriano Ribeiro (Athemon) and bassist Tom MacLean (Athemon, ex-Haken). Together they have but one mission, to bring the heaviest music they can muster and melt the faces off fans everywhere at live performances and on record. They are excited to be releasing their debut self-titled album this year to fully show the metal world what they are made of and what they can bring to the scene.

Brutta has a second single out now entitled “Devon” where the listener is transported inside the mind of a sociopathic individual who is locked up in the confines of Devon, a prison made for violent offenders. This prisoner can’t wait to escape to continue pursuing his victims. The band explains further:

“Starting with a deliberate expression of the desire to kill, our character murmurs a creepy, evil, scary melody. Pleased by the voices in his head, a prisoner to his own sick mind, he unleashes the desire to hurt and provoke horror. The instrumental is filled with dark melodies causing a very obscure sentiment. With a very strong chorus, the song transforms into a memorable experience of assault and battery, as in the end, our prisoner seems to jailbreak.”

“Devon” is the seventh of eight tracks, each one more pummeling and unforgiving than the last. They span themes such as religion and disturbed individuals, all with blast beats, brutal gutturals, and death metal riffs. They take all of their influences and wind them together into something daring, mysterious, and unforgettable. They are recommended listening for those with an interest in Bloodbath, Dark Funeral, and Morbid Angel.

The single “Devon” is being premiered via NoCleanSinging HERE.

The album will be released on June 17th, 2022

About:
After working for Athemon (Adriano Ribeiro (guitars, vocals) and Tom MacLean (ex-Haken) (bass)) as their session drummer, Gledson Gonçalves had the idea of creating another project with more extreme music. Recruiting Ribeiro (guitars, vocals) and MacLean (bass), both were very eager to dive headfirst into the aggressive sound Gonçalves had in mind. A few jams later and Brutta was officially formed as a studio project over two contents. Gonçalves and Ribeiro in Brazil and MacLean in the UK.

Brutta works collaboratively through every part of the process, first Ribeiro develops and assembles the riffs, to which Gonçalves adds drum parts. The final musical touches come in as MacLean weaves the bass riffs and then vocals are layered on top with lyrical themes coming from human behaviour, especially its darker angles.

0 V13 Video Premiere – StormbounD Share Their Optimistic Love Song “Flying High” Off Upcoming “December”

Hailing from Israel, StormbounD are adding to the symphonic metal subgenre with their latest single “Flying High”. This is the third single off their upcoming record “December”, which is slated for summer release. The band coins the album as a “melodic prophecy of wrath” – a journey that will take the listener into new territory while staying firmly planted in symphonic roots. This new single is a love song, that almost didn’t make it onto the album as the band further explains:

“It’s an optimistic love song, where the man is a protagonist that helps his loved one overcome her suffering caused by a mental illness. During the recording, we noticed that all the “Irish” elements made the original chorus we had for it sound a little depressing, so we wrote new lyrics and composed a new chorus. That instantly became a winner. We almost cut this song out of the album and now it’s one of the leading singles.”

The main songwriter for StormbounD is vocalist/guitarist Ofer Friedman, but they say that it’s really about working together as a team and that everything is collaborative. In terms of writing order, they continue to say that lyrics and musical composition go hand in hand, whichever is written first will lead the way.

The band got together in 2018, and after a couple of shuffles and instrument switches, they arrived at their current lineup – powerful frontwoman Yael Horwitz climbs octaves while vocalist/guitarist Ofer Friedman adds a layer of grit to complement her. Guitarist Shani Friedman fills in with harmonized riffs and the rhythm section of bassist Pavel Kleiman and drummer Yuval Partush get heart rates going and heads banging. Keyboardist Rotem Sadia injects orchestrations, strings, and melodies that push StormbounD into the sky.

The combination of soaring riffs, beautiful vocals and heavy beats show that StormbounD is creative, yet accessible. They are recommended for fans of Evanescence, Epica, and Within Temptation.

The video for “Flying High” is being premiered on V13 HERE.

0 Rockshots Records – Out Now! FORTIS VENTUS’ Debut Album “Vertalia”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 3, 2022

Rockshots Records – Out Now! FORTIS VENTUS’ Debut Album “Vertalia”

Out Now! Rockshots Records release Greek trio Fortis Ventus’ debut album “Vertalia”.

Combining symphonic and cinematic elements along with soundtrack influences, Fortis Ventus formed in 2015 and self-released their first ep “Haunted Heart” in November 2017.

In early 2018, due to creative differences, the band underwent significant changes. The driving forces that remained were composer, arranger, keyboardist George Halliwell and vocalist, lyricist Nancy Mos. Breathing new life into their work, the duo met Gregory Koilakos who would take on the role of guitarist. Together, the three musicians started recording their first full-length “Vertalia” with Gregory taking on both guitar and bass duties for the album, which also changed the band’s metal sound with its film score music elements.

Sentimental, dramatic, grand, cinematic, and imaginative, “Vertalia” is a concept album based on a novel-fairytale written by keyboardist George Halliwell.

“Twelve chapters for a total of twelve tracks”. adds Halliwell.

The theme of this fairytale focuses on an imaginary planet called Vertalia, where the main character starts their journey to discover their inner truth and the truth of life itself. Through the challenges they face during their journey back to Earth, they connect with their higher self and take a path to eventually achieve inner peace back towards their homeland of Vertalia.

“The audience will be surprised at the intricate orchestrations that hide behind complex melodies on this album. Each person hearing it, will find a glimmer to empathize in every track. We wanted to tell a story and give the listener a variety of feelings and a journey alongside the lyrics.” adds the band.

Fortis Ventus is recommended for fans of Hans Zimmer, Two Steps From Hell, Epica, Nightwish, and Kamelot.

The ferocious howl of wind, booming thunder that shakes your core, electric light that slices the sky. These are the sounds of relentless nature, and exactly what Svneatr invokes through the progressive black metal which they describe as “the sound of nature screaming back at you”. Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, they released “Chinook” last year to rave reviews from around the world, and now with everything opening up, they are finally getting to play it live in June this year.

With two other albums under their belts, they take the raw feel from the first record, but humbly open themselves up as artists and that allows them to play whatever comes naturally. Taking a solid black metal template they bend it to create a diverse, atmospheric sound. Each song works individually but the album was intentionally written as one, larger piece of music. They describe their latest release:

“We think it will come as a shock to the original fanbase and open us up to the world. We expanded the guitar sound and added a lot of melodies and harmonies, clean vocals, and major chords. Many of the themes are political because it’s unavoidable, given how we talk about topics such as climate change or racism and how uncompromising we are when faced with challenges to our values as human beings. In the past, We’ve shrouded these ideas in metaphors and wordplay but on this record sometimes it’s no secret what we’re saying. This may turn some people off, but it would be far worse to lend our voice to cowardice and hatred.”

Svneatr will be hitting up cities across Canada in June with Denmark’s abrasive hardcore/sludge act Hexis, and together they will hammer into fans the soundtrack to the apocalypse. Those who are lucky enough to have these two unforgiving bands tour their city will be greeted by intense, raw metal. Real playing with no click tracks or backing tracks. No fluff. Punk ethos. They are recommended for fans of Opeth, Darkthrone, and Enslaved.

In additional news, Svneatr is also proud to announce their signing to Prosthetic Records for their third full-length album, which will be released via the Los Angeles label in due course.

Speaking on their signing to Prosthetic, Vitharr Monteith (guitar/vocals) comments:

“SVNEATR is unbelievably stoked to be partnering up with Prosthetic Records for our third record and beyond! They’re a label we’ve held in high regard for many years and we are excited to be joining such a stacked roster with some of our favourite bands! We’re currently recording our yet-to-be-titled album and it’s going to be heavier, more musically diverse and darker than our previous record. We truly feel like we’ve hit a rhythm and found a unique sound, honing in on what defines us as artists and creators, and we’re getting tighter with each song. We seriously can’t wait to share with you this distilled thunder we’ve been working on! To our fellow Canadians, catch us on our upcoming Canada tour supporting the mighty Hexis in June!”

About:
SVNEATR (sun-eater)is a black metal band from Vancouver, Canada. They play a blend of melodic, atmospheric, and progressive black metal and are, in their own words, “the sound of nature screaming back at you.” SVNEATR released the demo “Serpents & Storms” in 2015 and their first full-length “The Howl, The Whisper, The Hunt” was released in March 2018. Their most recent album, 2021’s Chinook improved on their original sound, which honed in on their musicality and unique approach, was met with critical success. Chinook boosted their Spotify figures to over 1,000 monthly listeners in August, reaching #5 on Bandcamp’s “New and Notable” for atmospheric black metal, and charting at #33 on Amazon’s Global New Releases for Hard Rock & Metal, and #57 on Itunes Metal Albums for the United States. They have most notably made appearances at Black Mourning Light 2018 and 2019 in Edmonton, as well as playing alongside such bands as Apollyon, Tempestarii & Numenorean. SVNEATR is a rising force in British Columbia’s extreme metal scene and are looking towards broader horizons in 2022 and beyond!

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 2, 2022

Streaming Now! BURIED REALM Melo-Death S/T Album Ft. Guests From Finntroll, Obscura, Dark Tranquillity, Serious Black and more!

Self-Titled Album Out June 3, 2022

Hailing from Colorado Springs, USA, Buried Realm is the solo project of Josh Dummer who has enlisted the talent of musicians from around the world to contribute to three distinguished, melodic death metal albums. The third one is a self-titled release featuring names such as Heikki Saari (Finntroll, Whorion), Bob Katsionis (Outloud, Serious Black, ex-Firewind), Christian Münzner (Obscura), Dean Arnold (Primalfrost), Christopher Amott (Dark Tranquillity), Christofer Malmström (Darkane), and Dan Swanö. Dummer explains the album and his hopes for it:

“I think the overall atmosphere of this album is more energetic and aggressive compared to the previous ones. The general lyrical theme is a paranormal and psychological twist… mind tricks if you will. I am very pleased to present and share this album with everyone. I’m honored to be joined by some killer musicians who’ve influenced my writing and playing over the years. Their contributions have truly helped bring the album to the next level. Go give it a spin!”

Melodic, and memorable, Dummer cites that after writing the first few songs for the album it began to take shape and the rest of the tracks fell into place. His themes revolve around personal experiences and often there’s more play on metaphors rather than being literal which creates more room for interpretation and paints a more interesting picture for him.

With a running time of almost 40 minutes, Dummer takes the listener on a journey full of heavy riffs, soaring solos, passionate lyrics, and pummeling drums across nine tracks that have been influenced and complemented by the guests present on each. Dummer produced the album, and it was mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström. The album art was done by Pär Olofsson.

Anyone who has enjoyed the previous albums, or are fans of melodic death metal including Scar Symmetry, Children of Bodom, and Nevermore will be interested in what Buried Realm has created.

Today, before it officially drops on June 3rd, Buried Realm has teamed up with NoCleanSinging for its full stream premiere HERE.

About:
A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’

Following up on his long-time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

In 2020, Dummer released is the follow-up sophomore “Embodiment of the Divine” and while it was parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it took a step in a sojourn journey. It featured many guests such as Andy Gillion (Mors Principium Est), Benjamin Ellis (Scar Symmetry), Bob Katsionis (ex-Firewind), Dean Arnold (Primalfrost, Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork), Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura), and Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is the release of his third self-titled Buried Realm studio album on June 3, 2022. Once again, Dummer has invited many guests on this record with Bob Katsionis (Witch Bones), Christian Münzner (Poison Palace), Christofer Malmström (Elder Gods), Christopher Amott (The Iron Flame/ Quicksand Memory), Dan Swanö (Where the Armless Phantoms Glide) and Dean Arnold (Spectral Light). The lyrical theme on this full length is about paranormal and psychological twists… mind tricks.

Discography:
2022 – Buried Realm
2020 – Embodiment of the Divine
2017 – The Ichor Carcinoma

– 30 –

“Like its predecessor, this one’s an absolute ripper on the more technical / heavy side of the melodic death metal coin.” – Metal Sucks (Embodiment of the Divine Review)

“Creative, melodic and really charming, “Embodiment of the Divine” is an amazing experience. 10/10” – Metal Temple

“Well done melodic death metal that hits all the right marks.” – Dead Rhetoric

“The fast-punching grooves in the song (The Wonder and Terror of Fortune) are a match for the ecstatic energy of everything else. One listen, and you can tell why this track was chosen as the album closer — it sends the listener out on an enormous high.” – No Clean Singing

“Buried Realm play an eager, galloping sort of melodeath, with lots of speedy leads, upbeat riffs, synthesizers, and solos everywhere. It’s almost as if Blind Guardian enthusiasm and subject matter met up with Scar Symmetry’s love of ambience and melodic-yet-death-y riffs… I commend Buried Realm for their songwriting, performances, and ambition.” – Angry Metal Guy

“Given that The Ichor Carcinoma has so many guests, it stands to reason that it has a diverse sound, ranging from hyper-speed solos, breakdowns, a mixture of screams and clean singing and more, but at the end of the day, it can be classified as an impressive melodic death metal debut.” – Decibel Magazine (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)

“Buried Realm sound a whole lot like what you’d expect given the bands whose guest musicians Dummer tapped for the project: aggressive, catchy, Sweden-inspired melodic death metal. If you like all the bands name-checked above, you’re sure to like this one. It’s incredibly well-done and expertly crafted.” – MetalSucks (Review – The Ichor Carcinoma 2017)
