0 Montreal’s THE OCCULT Weaves An Astrological Tale In New Single “Planet Pisces”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 8, 2022

Montreal’s THE OCCULT Weaves An Astrological Tale In New Single “Planet Pisces”

Debut S/T Out August 19, 2022

Montreal’s The Occult is rock n’ roll that has strong punk vibes along with catchy choruses, upbeat riffs, and a passionate attitude that emanates throughout each of the thirteen songs on their forthcoming self-titled debut. It’s been a long time coming, vocalist/songwriter Eric Savanis wrote the first track in 2011 and released it along with another single a couple of years back. It is now time for a solid offering of his material to be released to the world so that listeners can get lost in the music.

The band’s lyrics usually take a darker turn, approaching murder, disdain for religion and politics, however on “Planet Pisces”, the words stake a journey into the metaphysical as Savanis comments on:

“Students of Astrology know that one of the Piscean traits, that people born under this sign exhibit, is self-deception. Take that concept, blow it up by a thousand and you have Planet Pisces, a tale of insanity and contradictions. Musically there’s punk and some aspects of death metal. The Lord Fez Khan, formerly of Crosstitution, now in Double Cross, guest screams on this song. I don’t see this song as a traditionally sounding single but decided it was better to put something out than nothing at all since we were still looking for a drummer at the time.”

For The Occult, the genesis of the song is usually a vocal melody, in which vocalist/songwriter Eric Savanis tries to pinpoint a mood. Once that occurs the lyrics start to reveal themselves and a symbiosis occurs. It works the same way if the music is written first. If the riffs are dark or heavy, then the lyrical content has to match. Having written all the material for the bulk of eight albums or so, he says that this upcoming record is dark, but does permeate celebratory insanity that is obvious to fans of bands like The Misfits and The Ramones who have a playful yet dark sense of humour.

The gritty and relentless punky rock n’ roll is recommended for fans of Life of Agony, Misfits, and Guns N’ Roses.

The single “Planet Pisces” featuring guest vocals from Lord Fez Khan (ex- Crosstitution, Double Cross) can be heard at https://youtu.be/B9e-cExhr48

The self-titled album will be available on August 19, 2022.

0 Rockshots Records – VICTORIA K Unveils The Story of “Persephone” Off Forthcoming Sophomore Album “Kore” October 2022

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 8, 2022

Rockshots Records – VICTORIA K Unveils The Story of “Persephone” Off Forthcoming Sophomore Album “Kore” October 2022

Australia’s Victoria K will be releasing the sophomore album “Kore” this coming October via Rockshots Records to follow the highly praised 2020 debut album “Essentia”.

Offering up progressive symphonic sound, “Kore” was specifically written to provide a full orchestral experience that drives people through a sonic journey of growth and grandeur.

“We wanted to take a new approach with this record and to grow our sound and bring something new to Victoria K. Incorporating sounds from our vocalist’s ethnic culture and heritage is something we are so extremely proud of! A concept album is something we really wanted to explore, and we are so excited to bring you this ancient story and create a sonic experience and journey for all our listeners. We cannot wait to share this new stage of Victoria K!”

“Kore” explores modern-day issues through the Homeric Hymn to Demeter (the story of Persephone). Victoria K conceptualized the idea for the album with her producer Lee Bradshaw and then spent many months researching and analyzing the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, even meeting with experts of the Homeric Hymns from Greece. The story was then broken up into its different parts where Victoria Knight wrote the lyrics and developed the melodies for each section of the tale, exploring the myth from a modern perspective.

The tracks were written specifically to encapsulate the various sections of the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and tell the story chronologically through each song and the music grows in intensity throughout the record capturing the emotional state of Persephone and other characters as the story progresses.

The various instruments on “Kore” were then written by Victoria around the lyrics and further enhanced and developed through the production process. Lee Bradshaw then finalized the songs by writing orchestral scores for each song, which were recorded live in Europe, before the final mixing and mastering.

Today, Victoria K shares the first single “Persephone” to preview what’s to come from the album, adding in further detail:

“This song came to us as different sections. For example, the riff was a separate idea, then the chorus and so on. We found that all these sections coincidently just fell together. The name ‘Persephone’ comes from the same person that the album does. Persephone is the name that ‘Kore’ took on when she became queen of Hades, meaning bringer of destruction. We wanted to then play with this idea in the music in this song, constantly switching from the softer melodic sections to the heavier aggressive sections. This is to portray the two minds that Persephone would be in. This song has come to be our favourite on the record, we feel like it encapsulates our sound and energy!”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 7, 2022

Colorado’s Oak, Ash and Thorn Weave Ancient Tales With Music Video For “Praise Unto the Immortals”

Forged in the mountains of Colorado, Oak, Ash, and Thorn have been spinning epic tales set to melodic death metal since 2018. They have released their second album “To Gaze On Stars of Frost” and now have a music video for the single “Praise Unto the Immortals” ready for eyes and ears. The EP was received well by listeners around the world who appreciated the soaring guitar solos, harmonized vocals, and maturity the band has developed since their previous effort. They explain how their music continues to improve:

“The EP is very special and very meaningful to all of us in Oak, Ash & Thorn. It represents a culmination of the first era of this band, the first three tracks being proper recordings and reworkings of some of our earliest songs. It also serves to mark our path forward, with our first forays into vocal harmonies, and a seriously blazing guitar solo on “Suspended and Frozen” courtesy of Fabian Jiru (Trollfest/Fleshmeadow). The subject matter for most of these songs, meanwhile, is intensely personal to Adam, the vocalist/lyricist, dealing with the death of his father, isolation/addiction, and heartbreak, all through the lens of pagan metaphor. The music reflects that, and it’s more somber on the whole than May Every Altar Linger. We remain rooted in melodic black/death metal, but there are more dynamics on display here, more shading, and we feel that these recordings are a distillation of our musical essence, what we’ve always been about, and where we’re going.”

Lyrically, “To Gaze On Stars of Frost” is about the old gods, the ancestors, and the struggles that come along with being human. Musically it’s very melodic with three-part harmonies and plenty of blast beats. A formidable group, Oak, Ash, and Thorn stands out from the pack with Cierra White’s unorthodox drumming, Adam Armstrong’s dual clean & growled vocals and the layers of interweaving strings from Erik Hoffman and Jason Harding. The single “Praise unto the Immortals” is about the old gods of the world: the elements. Earth, air, fire, and water, and all their many forms. Musically, it invokes feelings of nostalgia and longing, layered with a healthy dose of aggression.

The album was produced, mixed, and mastered by Fabian Jiru (Trollfest/Fleshmeadow) who also provides a solo on the track “Suspended and Frozen”. The album artwork was done by Adam Armstrong.

Unique and orchestral, Oak, Ash, and Thorn provide a flurry of highs and lows set into a wide range of emotions that are both soothing and inspiring to listen to. They are recommended listening for fans of Borknagar, Tyr, and Immortal.

About:
Oak, Ash & Thorn arose along Colorado’s Rocky Mountain front range out of a collective passion for heavy metal and old-world paganism. Their debut album, May Every Altar Linger, was released in 2018, laying the band’s foundation of melodic death/black metal shaded with traditional European folk music. The band teamed up with Fabian Jiru of Trollfest/Fleshmeadow to record the To Gaze on Stars of Frost EP, released May of 2021, and is now touring in select states throughout the western United States.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 7, 2022

LUFEH To Support SONS OF APOLLO For Brazilian Tour Aug 9 – 14

Exciting news for progressive rock and metal fans in Brazil. The Brazilian / North American-based band LUFEH will be opening support for the legendary SONS OF APOLLO for four shows in Curitiba, Rio De Janeiro, São Paulo, and Brasília this coming August (dates listed below). The supergroup LUFEH consists of drummer Lufeh Batera and bassist Duca Tambasco (from Brazilian sensation Oficina G3), world-renowned guitarist Téo Dornellas, producer and keyboardist Gera Penna, and American singer Dennis Atlas (as seen on Cruise to the Edge). These special shows will feature music from the band’s “Luggage Falling Down” album, which has been called “A brilliant and perfect cross-section, where high energy, jazzy musicianship meets song-centered flash.”

SONS OF APOLLO with LUFEH Brazil Tour Dates:
August 9 – Curitiba @ Ópera De Arame
August 11 – Rio De Janeiro @ Circo Voador
August 13 – São Paulo @ Tokio Marine Hall
August 14 – Brasília @ Toinha Brasil Show

LUFEH is a musical collaboration of excellent Brazilian and American musicians brought together by drummer Batera Lufeh. Lufeh himself has had a successful career performing with many famous Brazilian bands and artists, including one of the most well-known Christian rock bands of its style, Oficina G3, among others. In 2008, he recorded his first solo album “Drummed On Classics”, which uniquely combined a mix of classical pieces with progressive rock drumming.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2014, Lufeh has continued his career as a musician, starting in Florida, where he performed with Kristo Reggae and Big Pine Band. Lufeh participated in the Blue Man Group Drum-Off in 2016, where he was awarded the privilege to take part in its grand finale in Las Vegas, and chosen as one of the top five drummers in the contest. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he became the official drummer of Kenny Shipman.

In 2020, LUFEH became an entire unit moving forward with the addition of Gera Penna (keyboard); Duca Tambasco (bass); Dennis Atlas (vocals); and Teo Dornellas (guitar) who have proven to be a great match. The band released the highly-anticipated second album “Luggage Falling Down” in April of the same year. It’s a solid record of Brazilian-influenced groovy progressive metal, which has received great praise from reviewers, calling it a mix between Brazilian music, Rush, and Dream Theater.

The album is both melodic and highly energetic and aggressive. With a strong foundation in jazz and classical musicality, the band brings a metal edge to a unique melodic story. These progressive metal warriors have become tycoons of song structure and, throughout the album, display highly refined expertise in making music that is captivating to listen to, addictively technical, and uplifting.

“Luggage Falling Down” is available on all major digital platforms Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music.

“A track from prog debutants Lufeh now, as I ‘Find My Way’ straight into being earwormed by their Prog metal goodness. Guitar solos that sound like they’ve been written by some of the hard rock greats, with plenty of atmospheric synths and across the board able musicianship means this one was a sure fire hit from the off!” – Uber Rock

Mexico’s LOST NEBULA Announces Canadian Tour To Support New EP “Created In The Image Of God”

Mexico’s proggy alt-rock outfit Lost Nebula is setting out on a Canadian tour this summer in support of their latest album “Created In The Image Of God”. This will be the fourth release from the band and it shows a distinct maturity without losing the desire to try new things – on the record, they introduce the use of synths and growls and bolsters songwriting.

Lost Nebula presents an approachable take to metal, infusing their sound with melodic choruses, hardcore breakdowns, both growling and clean vocals, and elements of pop, alternative metal, and prog. They cover familiar topics such as discrimination, dehumanization, and the growing dependency on technology. The band explains the upcoming album in their own words:

“All the music created by Lost Nebula is a reference to human emotions and feelings. In this case, it covers the human experiences of discrimination, which could be from a different way of thinking or a different way of looking at another person, basing it on transhuman people, in colloquial terms, people with prosthetic parts attached to them to enlarge and/or improve life. It goes from melodic prog metal to power ballad, making the distinctive sound of the band. Strident guitars and bass, tight and complex rhythm parts along with a warm female voice and something that has never been done before in the band, growl vocals added to one of the singles.”

Looking to take the complexity of progressive rock music and repackage it into a more commercial version, Lost Nebula went into this new album with an open mind, and tore down their boundaries. It is the most original, pure form of the band and they will surely impress old fans and captivate new ones.

The tour starts on Tuesday, July 19 in Montreal, QC and they will make their way across the country to Nanaimo, BC. Lost Nebula brings a unique show to every gig, and regardless of venue size, creates an immersive, memorable, epic experience.

Melodic, unpredictable, and creative, “Created In The Image Of God” is recommended for fans of Dream Theater, Haken, and Leprous.

“Created In The Image Of God” is available as of July 15th.

Rockshots Records – Cosmic Metal VANDERLUST Take You On A Journey To Mars w/ New Music Video “High Hopes”

Debut Self-Titled Album Out Now!

Cosmic metallers VANDERLUST (ft. members of S91, Dreal) invited fans into their galaxy of wonder with the release of their self-titled debut album released this past April via Rockshots Records.

Today, they share their next video adventure with “High Hopes”, a heavy-power metal song, that is fast and powerful. It mixes technical riffs with a melodic and catchy vocal line; it’s one of the band’s most Iron Maiden-oriented songs. The lyrics speak about the first human travel to Mars and the great hopes that this mission inspires.

Listen and watch “High Hopes” – https://youtu.be/jI1_XHZnorg

Birthed to travel the cosmos, Italy’s Vanderlust is a power-heavy metal band with prog-thrash influences that tells tales of space travels, astronomy, space engineering, and sci-fi adventures.

“We tried to mix a prog-thrashy riffing in the roots of Megadeth, Vektor, and Tool with epic vocal parts like Iron Maiden, Helloween, Angra, and Lione’s Rhapsody. We also put sci-fi elements in our songs, so you can hear also something from Voivod.” adds the band.

This debut recording is like a stellar system with 12 different planets. The star at the center of the system represents the heavy-power metal around all the songs revolving. Despite all the tracks being irradiated by the same light, they are all different from each other. Vanderlust has fast thrash, slow and doom, shiny and brilliant to grunge, and darker songs. Like planets, which appear like simple small bright spots, but in reality, are all big worlds, Vanderlust‘s songs are more complex than they sound at first listen. In fact, you can easily sing along to some of the choruses even if there are complex riffs in the background. Vanderlust is particularly proud of the participation of opera singer Letizia Cappellini who does vocals on select tracks and helps the band further expand the vocal register of their compositions. The band also adds the presence of synths and electronic elements to the compositions to set the sci-fi mood of the lyrics.

“The main goal was to start a metal band that could be an inspiration for young people, a band that could tell them stories from the future when mankind will have overcome its limits and the solar system will be an entire human colony. This idea came to mind to founding members Francesco and Santo when they began their search for other members that could fit. Drummer Giacomo Mezzetti joined the space odyssey right before the covid-19 outbreak. Vocalist Riccardo Morello joined the band during the first lockdown in Italy, so the first song was entirely composed online, using videocalls and file sharing.” adds the band.

For their live aspect, Vanderlust is currently working hard to create a thrilling spectacle, giving all their energy to the fans and letting them join them on the space journey.

Vanderlust is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Angra, Tool, Helloween, and Vektor.

Newfoundland Black Metal Duo ARTACH Unleash Release New Single “Hoarfrost”; Announce New Album Coming Late 2022

St. John’s, Newfoundland black metal duo Artach has been relatively quiet since the release of their sophomore album, “Sworn to Avenge”, which was unleashed in June of last year via Depressive Illusions Records. In the time since then, the band has released a cover of the Venom classic “Countess Bathory” and also released a timely Christmas-themed single entitled “Ode to Krampus”.

However, the band has dropped their first single since “Sworn to Avenge”. Entitled “Hoarfrost”, the track is off from their forthcoming third record, which is currently in production and planned for release in late 2022.

Artach’s process is a collaborative one between the duo, the genesis of the songs are arranged on guitar by Sruthán and very roughly recorded at home. After getting together, they record drums and flesh out the song in an afternoon and by then the song is pretty much ready for the studio recording of guitars, then bass, and lastly vocals.

Artach is recommended listening for anyone interested in raw black metal and those with an interest in Celtic Frost, Darkthrone, and Satyricon.

Their latest album “Sworn to Avenge” is available via Depressive Illusions Records at the following links: DepressiveIllusions.com, Artach.bandcamp.com, Amazon, Spotify.

Out Now! Rockshots Records – Finnish Rockers SERPICO’s New Album “The Chosen Four”

Finnish rockers Serpico are proud to release their latest album “The Chosen Four” this July 1st, 2022via Rockshots Records. The album was produced by platinum-selling Finnish record producer Anssi Kippo (Children of Bodom, Hanna Pakarinen, Teräsbetoni).

“Warmth of full analog sound is the key word on this particular record. There are many things you have been missing out on in music and in the listening experience, I think. We hope fans will pay full attention to the album and go along with the music. I must say there is no way back from the world of analog recording once you step into it. This is the way we are going to do it from this moment on.” adds vocalist Vee Dour.

“People will definitely notice its high quality in songs, production, the sound & versatility if comparing to nowadays, dull sound world n’ song arrangements. Also, there’s a big difference when doing it all by full analog session, which we did. So, it’s gonna stand out pretty easily from the masses, I think. Although I hope so.” also adds drummer Jani Serpico.

Extreme Metal Music – Germany’s One Man Symphonic Dark Metal DAIDALOS Releases Next Single “Northlight” Off Album “The Expedition” Out July 2022

German one-man symphonic dark metal band Daidalos founded in 2020 by drummer/pianist Tobias Püschner (former drummer of the technical thrash band Revolt) will be releasing the debut album “The Expedition” this coming July 2022 via Extreme Metal Music.

The album was inspired after reading a book on Captain Sir John Franklin’s Lost Expedition, a British voyage of Arctic exploration that departed with 129 men from England in 1845. Both ships, called Erebus & Terror, became icebound and after being trapped and suffering in eternal coldness for over a year, the remaining sailors decided to abandon their ships. Trying to survive, they set out for the Canadian mainland, but disappeared.

“The Expedition” is a musical journey through the Arctic Ice, on board with Sir John Franklin’s crew. The different moods the sailors had to experience at that time probably went from heroic and enthusiastic to absolute hopelessness and daily mortal fear. I composed these atmospheres musically and told them as a concept album / musical story.” says Püschner

“The Expedition” contains nine songs and has a total playtime of 47 minutes plus a bonus track.

Today, Daidalos shares the second single “Northlight” and explains the track in further detail.

“With Northlight, I composed the grand finale at the end of the album. The song is about the dying seamen whose souls go to heaven to the northern lights. Actually a song about friendship and the good old times, where you never know when they might be over. Musically again a power song with a fantastic guitar solo by Fabio. Northlight will surely be a brute wall live. The end of the song is actually written as an outro of an orchestra and closes the album.”

Daidalos’ concept can be described as a full orchestral and dark emotional cinematic journey combined with aggressive vocals and harsh guitars. Most of the songs recorded on the upcoming full-length contain clean choir vocals and fast-paced drumming along with each song being written exclusively on the piano first. The idea behind this way of songwriting is to first finish each track’s own atmosphere with orchestral music and then use those emotions to create the harder parts.

For the recording of “The Expedition”, Püschner recruited guest musicians and friends Martin Simon (Kambrium) (bass/backing vocals), Fabio Rossi (Tryglav) (lead guitar), Francesco Petrelli (guitar), Noga Rotem (choir vocals) who will also support Daidalos on live shows.

“The Expedition” is due out on July 29th, 2022, and is recommended for fans of Dimmu Borgir, Wintersun, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

About:
DAIDALOS was founded in 2020 as a one-man band by Tobias Püschner.

The band´s idea is to combine a classical orchestra with fast and aggressive elements, to create atmospheric breakdowns of different mental states.

This happens along epic historic events and stories, to develop a heroic and often hopeless sad feeling.

After sending some demos of the debut album “The Expedition”, Daidalos got directly signed by the label Rockshots / Extreme Metal Music in 2022.
