DIE ANOTHER DAY are one of Calgary, Canada’s freshest bands. Started in the spring of 2019 with a variety of influences, the quartet expands into multiple genres, getting fans excited to embrace different styles of music. Releasing their debut single ‘Broken Youth’ on August 28, 2019, the band gave a taste of what’s to come in a fun track that is creative, bouncy and upbeat. The single was mixed by Jesse Kopala along with being mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, He Is Legend, Scale The Summit).

The band is really proud of the single, which has plenty of energetic riffs, aggressive lyrics, and melodic harmonies that everybody can really enjoy and get into.

The band explains:

“We all really love the single and I’m hoping fans feel the same as we do about it. We’re hoping fans wind up being as excited about the single as we are. We’re a new band in town and we have a different style of music that other bands. Hopefully, we leave them wanting more and hyped for another single in the future from us.”

With primary genres being metalcore and pop-punk, DIE ANOTHER DAY is recommended for fans of Thrice, A Day To Remember, Billy Talent, and Avenged Sevenfold and anyone else that enjoys high energy music that inspires jumping, headbanging, and fun. The band is preparing more material along with touring in the coming new year.

“Overall, this was indeed a hard album to categorize, genre wise. When the album is at its fiercest, I get a distinct GOJIRA vibe…those hard as ice riffs, sterile vocals, and punishing sound. But when they harmonize and explore some melody, and the two more ambient tracks, it lets me know that they are not afraid to experiment a bit. That is a strong quality to any good band, not afraid to take some risks for the sake of overly formulated music. I think that they are just beginning to hit their stride, and can’t wait to hear their next release.” 8/10 – Metal Temple

“Messora constantly find new directions, evolving their music from one side to the other and back. The fact they can do it flawlessly is a joy [8/10] ” – Metal Noise

“The music is technical, brutal, thoughtful, and emotional; taking the listener on a singular journey to the recesses of your mind… This is music for your ears and soul, so purchase and stream the album at the links below.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“If you are a progressive music fan or a fan of metal in general, you need to give ‘The Door’ a chance. It’s challenging, haunting and complex. I don’t have a single complaint about the album and it’s very hard to believe that this is their first LP. Bands normally chase this perfection for years before achieving it. If they continue on this path there is nothing stopping Messora from joining the greats.” – Diary of a Music Addict

“The Door is a guitarist’s album, as central member and founder Zach Dean performs guitar and vocals, and does so with intense gusto. Influences range from Gojira, Tool, Lamb of God, Psycroptic, and Children of Bodom, which sounds neither interesting nor unique, but Messora makes it work, creating a hella tight sound that incorporates it all into one potent wallop… In the end, Messora offers a ridiculously fun guitar album of ear candy.” – Angry Metal Guy

“The Door is one record you certainly check out if you want nothing but solid tracks all the way through. This record will certainly put Messora on the metal map.” – Metal Utopia

“I am starting to sound like a broken record when I talk about all the bands who have released great debut records this year. Well, add another to the list, because Messora is here with their debut, The Door. Messora have created a melting pot of a debut record with how many styles they try to fit into The Door. Having not heard of this band prior to this, I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with what I heard, especially considering it started as a solo project and bloomed into something much more, and I am beyond excited to see what they do on future records because they’re only going to get better.” – Metal Utopia

“one dynamic and briliant listening experience.” – Noob Heavy

“The Door, their debut album, is more like a kaleidoscope of metal – a blending of various subgenres in the metal sphere. As you listen closely to each song you embark on a very unconventional and artistic journey that dips you in bits of black metal, thrash, power, doom and death metal. For me to say I loved the entire album is huge…Messora truly an exceptionally talented musicianship that is simply a heavy work of art.” – Boston Rock Radio

“It’s bone splintering stuff, with pulverising segments of speed and also crushing heaviness which put the band in the doom camp at times. Certainly one I would recommend exploring. 8/10” – Musipedia Of Metal

“Promising career start for the Canadian quartet” – Broken Tomb Magazine

“Combining a variety of genres, the group made good impressions on those who shows up early with their tight musicianship and ability to change pace on a moment’s notice” – Apt 613

“… Messora was a whirlwind on stage. It was hard to believe that a half hour had passed when they began to play their final song, as each song had layered onto each other leaving viewers with a feeling that the experience was almost surreal.”- Splice Media Group

SHORT BIO

Formed as a solo recording project in 2016 in Montréal, Québec, Messora has become a band that obscures and challenges genres. To the band, the music comes as what feels best in the moment. To the fans, it is a kaleidoscope of sound that appears different at every glance and to every eye.

Messora has been described as Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Melodic Metal, and Doom Metal by fans and showgoers. The elements that make up the music may seem familiar to some, yet the whole remains a challenge to define.

The band knows how to set themselves apart from others musically as well as aesthetically, with showmanship and presentation second only to musical performance during their live show. They demand attention with their presentation, but keep it with the strength of their performance and musicianship. Having shared the stage with bands such as Carach Angren, Mors Principium Est, and Wolfheart, Messora always delivers, visually, aesthetically and musically.

When Zach Dean (guitars/vocals) decided to record his first song ‘The Door’ he approached Ben Bertrand (bass) to cover on the recording, Bertrand enjoyed the single so much he encouraged Dean to form a complete new band. Inspired, Dead agreed and Messora became a proper band. They enlisted Emine Topçu to do second guitar however she left shortly after the first show due to her return to university and was replaced by James Cabral. In the summer of 2019, Cabral was replaced with Graham Murphy. Dean met drummer Joey Larivière while he was auditioning for Whispers In The Maze and when Messora was initiated, invited him to take up the sticks for this new endeavour.

Messora has been described as Death Metal, Black Metal, Thrash Metal, Progressive Metal, Melodic Metal, and Doom Metal by fans and showgoers. The elements that make up the music may seem familiar to some, yet the whole remains a challenge to define.

It’s upbeat, energetic, sounds like us, and just felt like the right song to release as a new single. We hope our listeners have an enjoyable experience with this one. One that will serve as a reminder that we are working away on new material. That we are excited to share what we have been working on with everyone and can’t wait until it sees the light of day.”

ELEGANT DEVILS hope to satiate their fans with this single as they write and record their next album to be released a yet to be determined date. Elegant Devils features Drew James (Lead Vocals), Rob Frank (Drums/Vocals), Josh West (Guitar) and Josh Barkley (Bass/Vocals).

“This one rises above the ultra-crowded stoner rock genre with its seriously ’70s vibe, cool and lazy vocal delivery, warm production and adherence to the riff over everything else.”  – Exclaim

“Black Mastiff is a power trio that creates their own version of stoner rock. They take a super heavy riff for a ride and explore a groove with a heavy rhythmic infra-structure and beautiful melodic vocals that bear the influence of the sounds of the desert.”  – Coachella Valley Weekly

“I’m a fan of music….when you hear music that makes you feel….well, that’s what Black Mastiff did for me…they made me feel…… there was just something there. When music makes you feel anything, anything at all. Happy, sad, takes you back…I don’t care who it is. I don’t care if it’s Earth, Wind or Fire, Motley Crue, if it draws out deep emotion, I become a fan. I became a fan of Black Mastiff when Bruno Fevery and I caught their set….So much so, that I covered one of their songs on my new solo album.” – John Garcia-(KYUSS, Slo Burn, Vista Chino)

“I saw them in Edmonton, Canada. They have such a unique take on music and just when you think you know where it’s gonna go, they take it somewhere completely unexpected….some of their songs remind me of a modern version of The Doors whether they see it or not.” –  John Garcia – (KYUSS, Slo Burn, Vista Chino)

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff (Bob Yiannakoulias, Clay Shea, Allan Harding) is a band built around lifelong friendship and having fun, a vibe they’ve extended to both their porous, heavy, and vigorous live performance, and their recordings: their first album Pyramids noted for “ris[ing] above the ultra-crowded stoner rock genre with its cool and lazy vocal delivery, warm production and adherence to the riff over everything else” (Greg Pratt Exclaim Magazine, 2012). Also elevating the band’s sound is their continued blending of expected and unexpected influences—everything from 70s metal to Stevie Wonder. When I write guitar riffs I usually imagine Stevie Wonder is singing the notes, says singer Yiannakoulias. If I can hear his voice in my notes then I’m keeping it. So is Stevie Wonder stoner rock!? Sure why not.

With their third full-length album Loser Delusions (Fall 2019), keeping it together became a literal priority. During the four years since their well-received Music Machine (New Damage Records, 2015), recorded and beautifully produced at Thunder Underground Studio in the desert of Palm Springs with John Garcia (Kyuss, Vista Chino), the trio had to change their perception of how a band operates. Already Renaissance men and entrepreneurs in other life ventures, when facing unforeseen challenges the band sharpened their production and business know-how by starting their own label, Grand Hand, with tour mates Chron Goblin. When drummer Allan moved to Vancouver, they decided to see how distance apart could add to, rather than take away from, their creative process and sound. The result is a determined continuation of what they do best, with a voyaging out into new sonic territory.

With Loser Delusions, one still hears Black Mastiff’s signature groove: sly, moody, leaning into a blizzard of distortion. Again, the comradely instrumentation contrasts nicely with Yiannakoulias’s singular, yearning, existential vocals that speak to his listener in clouded lonely confessions, through half-glimpsed, elemental psychic-scapes of uncertain sky, rising rivers and darkness “looking for something that does not exist yet.” But the musical and lyrical theme of artistic searching for new experience is heightened on Loser Delusion, the tone more awake, the touch more urgent: we all need a rest, getting through this mess Yiannakoulias sings on the first track “Down By a Sound”.

With the freedom of independent time, there was more pre-production consideration—most notably, the conscious addition of quiet, fast and loud songs to their mid-tempo repertoire. There’s also the inclusion of curious electronic intros, big undulating walls of layered guitar that rise up excitedly around base tracks, and engulf the syth sounds borrowed from recording agent Nik Kozub (The Audio Department, Edmonton). Physical distance between members has also contributed to the albums big sound. Sometimes, says Yiannakoulias, there are elements, like in the end of the song “Stranger” [the last track], that sound like… the size of the gap between us. Complementing this experimental phase was the blast of getting things done: music files flew back and forth across provinces—bass and guitar parts worked on by Shea and Yiannakoulias in Edmonton fired off to Vancouver to be filled in by Harding who later completed his parts on ten songs in record time, pushing his masterful drum skills to the max.

Loser Delusions, a pun on the Guns ‘n Roses infamous album, suggests humour is integral to the serious reach for creative betterment that brings exciting rewards but also lures one into a business that is tricky at best. Hope the station knows that I’ve arrived: its lyrics grapple ambiguously with questions of authenticity, but Black Mastiff is a band mature enough musically and professionally to harness illusion while also confronting the ego’s delusions. As they say: We try not to take ourselves too seriously but that doesn’t mean we aren’t seriously working.

“Ancient Incantation of Xarbos is a heavy, blackened metal monster. ” – Metal Injection

“The energy in the music (single God of The NetherRealm) reaches one of many electrifying plateaus when the fretwork becomes a jabbing and swirling extravaganza, both frenzied and deranged but also locking into an eminently headbangable groove. With groaning bass emanations and a somersaulting drum progression providing the bridge, the song also segues into a mystical and mesmerizing interlude of clean, chiming notes and pensive bass tones.” – No Clean Singing

““Ancient Incantations of Xarbos” is really an excellent album, conceived to satisfy every Black Metal fan, and even fans from other Metal genres. And an idea that comes to mind after hearing this album is why in the blazes CELL doesn’t have a record label working with its releases?” – Metal Temple

“Canadian Black Metal maniacs CELL have released one hell of a new album! This is a genre-bending, face-melting, dimension-crossing, mind-fucking experience that crosses all of the streams that should not be crossed.  Ancient Incantations of Xarbos  is a frenetic cosmic voyage into sheer madness, guided by an immense display of raw, heavy metal magic.” – Trv North Reviews

“technical savagery” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“It is fast, blasting, thrashing black metal made perfectly for headbanging. This band won’t save the forest and this album does not tell you to join a political cause. If you like headbanging extreme metal, this is a good place to find it in the month of October.” – The Metal Bulletin paper zine

“Well produced, loud in the speakers, and even louder in the headspace is Winnipeg, Manitoba’s cosmic black metal trio, Cell. Ancient Incantations of Xarbos is eight ripping tracks worth of insane, cosmos-corpse-painted chaos. 9/10” – Hated One Metal Reviews

SHORT BIO

Cell is a three-piece conceptual black metal band that formed in 2014 reigning from Winnipeg, Canada. They blend elements of old school and modern black metal with hints of death metal, hardcore, thrash, and doom to create reality-altering unrelenting cosmic black metal. Their concept is based on a science fiction comic book idea that Hyperion (guitar/vocals) was working to bring to life, but decided instead to turn into music.

Cell has toured across Canada multiple times and have been featured on several festivals including Black Mourning Light, Loud As Hell Metalfest, Armstrong Metalfest and Manitoba Metalfest sharing the stage with the likes of Skeletonwitch, Goatwhore, DRI, Revocation, and Aggression. They released their debut album ‘The Frozen Moon Of Erebath’ in 2016 and follow it up in 2019 with ‘Ancient Incantations Of Xarbos’.

LONG BIO

Cell is a three-piece conceptual black metal band that formed in 2014 reigning from Winnipeg, Canada. They blend elements of old school and modern black metal with hints of death metal, hardcore, thrash, and doom to create reality-altering unrelenting cosmic black metal. Their concept is based on a science fiction comic book idea that Hyperion (guitar/vocals) was working to bring to life, but decided instead to turn into music.

Each song starts with Hyperion taking the reins by writing the song structure, riffs, and lyrics; Deimos (bass/vocals) and Hypnos (drums) adding in their preferences for riffs, lyrics and other such things to alter the songs for the better. There is a lot of cathartic emotion put into each song that connects to each member on a personal level while keeping within the dark sci-fi concept and using metaphors of what we as humans do to this planet and the life on it.

Using these topics, it’s easy for Cell to let everything out on stage every during every performance. They use a lot of art and theatre within the live show including using corpse paint, blood, armor, pro audio lights, and lasers. To see our show is to experience something emotional, aggressive, theatrical and cosmic.

Tales of The Tomb – Volume Two : Mendacium (2019) (EP)

“RIYL: Serial killers and death metal. Now, many of you may think the two already go hand in hand, but new dimensions of depravity are opened when you take the murderous criminals Macabre and Church of Misery have been glorifying forever and backdrop it with noise more akin to Cannibal Corpse Fist-****ing At The Gates. Or Vice Versa.” – Decibel Magazine

“Overall, I recommend this album to death metal fans of all varieties. It is a fun album with a lot of great riffs. Also, I highly recommend reading the lyrics and learning about the conspiracy theories behind the songs.” – Metal Temple

“Volume Two: Mendacium is six songs of punishing metal fit for listeners with the heaviest of taste. Whether you’re spending time carving pumpkins or watching slasher movies this Halloween season, be sure to make room on your playlist for Tales of the Tomb.” – Surviving The Golden Age

” Their new, independently released EP is heavy as ice and laced up with razor-sharp production. Volume Two: Mendacium is a non-stop frosty riff fest, delivered on a moose-poutine platter of awesome production thanks to the Canucks over at The Grid. Slapshot your wallets & pick up this death metal gem.” – TrveNorth Reviews

“The need to head bang is strong with this one, and it made for an excellent addition to my Death Metal library.” – New-Transcendence

“All in all, Tales of the Tomb’s latest installment is a rather subtle tale that is more akin to a destructive musical journey through morbid lyrical themes and passages. There are quite a few references to real life events of the political, conspiracy and paranormal nature, in addition to some comical and/or eerie audio samples thrown in here and there to give off that distinct ’90s death metal vibe. It’s a beyond stellar 20-something minute composition that’s fairly well-structured instrumentally and vocally nostalgic, if a bit familiar. I’d give it an easy recommend to those who are up for a blend of OSDM with some techy, melodic and other newschool vibes similar to stuff like the latest Cryptopsy or the sound of other material that’s a bit more out there like Psycroptic, Skinless, Revocation or hell pretty much any bands remotely alike to those sounds. That being said, I’d be inclined to hear a Volume Three EP or full-length in the hopefully near future. ” – Metal Trenches

“The EP runs as a mix of fast and mid paced parts to present mosh worth tracks for the pit and notable swing your head around in circles anthems such as Nine Eleven, which is probably my favourite track. The last song on the EP ‘Mermaid in a Manhole’ was an excellent close to to Volume Two and was my next favourite song. All in all, it’s ideal for swinging the head around, roaring, and dripping sweat on to the floor.” – Mosh Nerd Republic

“It’s got a European death metal feel to it, and while it’s definitely heavy, it’s centerpiece is a melodic guitar solo. If the rest of the EP, out on November 27th, is anything like the first taste of it, signals Tales of the Tomb as a band we’ll be hearing more – Metal Insider

“Grooves entwine and work their way under the skin like toxic vines, whilst the body of the song strolls with a deceitful calm as much hued in more classic metal essences as it is in death metal voracity.” – RingMaster Review

“Volume One: Morpras stands as a melodic treat fans of cold sounding death metal, melodic or otherwise, will definitely get a kick out of.” – Apochs Metal Review

Every town has stories to caution or warn, every police officer has a seen a crime that keeps them awake at night, and every coroner has seen death in ways that the rest of us could never imagine. Murder, conspiracy, supernatural horror, and real-life terror are stains on the cutting room floor where Edmonton-based group Tales of The Tomb paints their canvas.

Unified by the desire to have the grotesque power of 90’s era death and murder metal, Tales of The Tomb started as a thought that grew into an insatiable need to make extreme music.

Tales Of The Tomb was created in October 2013 from founder Corey Skerlak (Guitar, Vocals) out of inspiration from the original murder metal band Macabre.

Much of their inspiration is drawn from the hideous crimes and conspiracies of the world. Retelling stories of the dark hidden secrets and victims from such crimes. This was the inspiration for the name Tales of The Tomb.

A sonic attack layered with grinding blast beats, injected with menacing guttural lows — a sound straight from hell with gore-filled lyrics leaving little to the imagination, destroying your ear drums like a corpse is erased in an acid-filled bath.

The band has their eyes poised to victimize their audiences anywhere they can reach. Their debut album Volume One: Morpras EP was released November 27, 2015. The concept album centered around murder and heinous crimes was mixed and mastered by Euro-death metal master Dan Swano (ex-Bloodbath, Unisound) and is just the first of many more sonic crimes to come from Tales of The Tomb.

Their next release, slated for September 27, 2019, is a collection of narratives surrounding government cover-ups, national lies and the heinous crimes committed amongst the shadows. Mixed and mastered by Cryptopsy guitar player and Head Engineer/Owner at The Grid Studios Christian Donaldson. The EP also contains a bonus track about the Japanese horror film Mermaid in a Manhole. Featuring artwork by Tony Midi of Tonymidi Artworks.

“Chron Goblin are an institution of stoner metal, and Here Before further cements their legacy. ” – Exclaim

“Here Before, marks a deliberate recalibration from the hard-rolling crew as they crank the production values to eleven on volatile numbers like “Giving in to Fun,” “Slipping Under,” and “Out of My Mind.”” – Beatroute

“The resulting six-minute composition(Ghost) is a lush musical tapestry of feedback-soaked psychedelia that avoids the schmaltzy stereotypes that sometimes ensnare lesser artists.” – Revolver Mag

“One might assume they know what Chron Goblin is all about just by hearing their name. And there’s something to that — the Calgary, Alberta, quartet definitely give you the killer stoner metal you want from them. But what makes Chron Goblin stand out is the hint of darkness and anger that lines even their more free-wheeling tracks. These guys bring the party, but not at the loss of metal’s honest vinegar; it’s this attitude that had made them a Canadian band worth keeping an eye on right now.” – Kerrang

“With “Here Before”, CHRON GOBLIN have given us a ambitious album that should please the most discerning Desert/Stoner/Psych fans. Don’t miss this one.” – Metal Temple

“This has all the makings of a pretty solid stoner rock record.” – Hellbound

“The 20 Canadian bands you need to know right now – Kerrang” – July 1, 2019

“With “Here Before”, CHRON GOBLIN have given us a ambitious album that should please the most discerning Desert/Stoner/Psych fans. Don’t miss this one.” – Metal Temple

“I’ve always considered these guys to be Calgary’s closest thing to Kyuss, and the mellow desert grooves of opening track “Oblivion” don’t disappoint…This has all the makings of a pretty solid stoner rock record.” Helbound.ca

“What the band have in spades that sets them apart from the usual weed-worshipping crew is energy, giving even their stonier material enough oomph to keep them from lethargically ripping off Sabbath. “ – Kerrang Magazine

“ Fun, fast, and surprisingly slick” – VICE/ Noisey

“These guys caught my ear right away because in the local market there are precious few bands playing this style of hard Rocking Metal. Sonically this has groove, rock and some sludge written all over it. A certain sense of fun pervades all the tracks, energy creativity and a spirit of rock and roll.” –  Metal-Rules.com

“It is no wonder why so many respected bands have took them under their wing. This is a band to keep your eyes firmly locked on” – The Sludgelord

“The band’s love of the riff is highly in evidence, wrapped around a classic rock sensibility that, for once, sits well with the more obvious stoner and desert rock influences upon which the band have historically built their reputation.” – Ghost Cult Magazine

“While too many fuzz bands forget either how to be heavy or how to have fun, Chron Goblin shows a near mastery of these important concepts “ – New Noise Magazine

From the dusty coulees of Alberta’s Badlands to the jagged peaks of the snow-capped Rockies, the musical entity known as Chron Goblin is a true force of nature. Yet there’s simply no reckoning the immensity of the sound that these hard rockin’ Calgarians are capable of generating once they hit the stage boards. Grind-ing it out in the trenches and pits of venues and festivals across North America and Europe since 2009, the fuzz clad foursome knows no bounds when it come to laying down the rugged riffage and cranking up the volume on a sweet Southern rock tinged blues-metal breakdown. Surrender to the smoke show, heed the call of the Chron and inhale the melodious commotion churned up by the Goblins. The botanically-infused gin in your work-a-day tonic, Chron Goblin will obliterate those vexing worries and liberate your immortal soul.

Recorded in July 2018 at Juno Award Winning OCL Studios, ‘Here Before’ is the fourth full-length album from Chron Goblin and will be released and distributed by Grand Hand Records. Produced, recorded and mixed by Josh Rob Gwilliam (Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Ghosts of Modern Man), Here Before demonstrates a new maturity in songwriting and production for the band. From the propulsive singles of ‘Slipping Under’ and ‘Ghost’; mixed by Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica, Corrosion of Conformity), to the hypnotic riffs of ‘Oblivion’ – Chron Goblin has created an intoxicating collection of rock n’ roll.

“Best moments of BEHEMOTH and symphonic death à la GODFLESH APOCALYPSE while remaining entirely Necronomicon.” – Bravewords

“Advent of the Human God is a truly diverse album, perfectly balancing plenty of atmosphere with their iconic chugging riffs and pummelling blast beats.” – Exclaim!

“Advent of the Human God boasts both a Behemoth-like epic savage grace and Dimmu-esque orchestral pomp. But it also delivers a more primal ferocity and maintains the thematic air that has become Necronomicon’s forte” – Metal Rules

“”Their sound is akin to an Anti-Christ infant spawned from the blasphemous union of Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth.”” – Metal Underground

“The drums crash like Nordic avalanches on tracks like “Alchemy of the Avatar.” With its blazing jugular seeking guitar riffs and crazed piano breaks over top double kick drum insanity, this last song makes for a perfect ending to a blistering listen.” – Beatroute (AB)

“‘Necronomicon opened the show with a thoroughly impressive display of symphonic death metal… The best way to describe them would be a symphonic version of Winds of Creation-era Decapitated, with perhaps some Vital Remains mixed in. Lots of cool grooves and hair spinning moments!’” – Metal Injection (Live Review)

BIO:

Canadian extreme metal veterans NECRONOMICON have announced the release of their new full-length ‘UNUS’. The record will be released via Season of Mist on October 18, 2019.

Vocalist Rob the Witch comments:

“When all is said and done, one most return to the start and begin a new life. ‘UNUS’ is the first major Arcana that start a new cycle in the evolution of any living things. Welcome to our new incarnation.”

With ‘Advent Of The Human God,’ NECRONOMICON presented themselves at a new height in their long lasting career, which began as early as 1988 with the founding of the band by guitarist and singer Rob “The Witch” in the deep northern part of Canadian province Quebec, called the “Fjord of Saguenay.” Now, they continue to push the envelope with their sixth studio album, ‘UNUS.’

‘UNUS’ is a searing cacophony that blends blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the symphonic prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres and ultimately

NECRONOMICON have a well-earned reputation for quality by releasing material only when ready and satisfied with the outcome ever since their demo entitled ‘Morbid Ritual’ (1992) firmly established their name within the underground. ‘The Silver Key”EP (1996) led to mainstream recognition on a national level, but their debut album ‘Pharaoh Of Gods” (1999) and the sophomore ‘The Sacred Medicines’ (2003) did even more to establish the band as a household name in Canada.

‘Return Of The Witch’ (2010) marked the international break-through forNECRONOMICON, and saw them performing at prestigious festivals such as Inferno (Norway), Ragnarok (Germany), and the Barge To Hell metal cruise among others, while sharing stages with acts such as CRADLE OF FILTH, DIMMU BORGIR, BEHEMOTH, and MORBID ANGEL, to name but a few. Their steady advance around the globe grew considerably in impact by their next full-length “Rise Of The Elder Ones” (2013). By the time the band released ‘Advent Of The Human Gods’ (2016), they were met with international critical acclaim. Now, with ‘Unus,’ the band show that they aren’t slowing down and are ready to deliver another vicious strike! Prepare for the darkness to envelop you…

“The 9-track record comes with a focused story-telling, remarkable songwriting and with an offer of something that separates them from the bigger part of the prog gang. The band is not shy to explore within pop, indie rock or alternative and fuse these elements with sound-defining progressive rock and metal influences.” – Prog-Sphere

“Feminism possesses great balance between the up-beat rock tunes polished with rock’s progressive and alternative subgenres, but what this album shows is talent of the band which certainly can bring something epic. Until then, let Feminism shows itself in its full brilliance.” – Progzilla

“sound more like their fellow countrymen Protest the Hero, albeit with a sax in the mix of things. Their overall style is the same careening prog metal that PtH are good at… For a debut album, I am impressed with “Feminism.”… I think Sleeping in Traffic have potential, so they are worth following.” – Progressive Music Planet

“Sleeping In Traffic’s new album brings new adaptations and innovations to the Progressive music world.” – FTD Music

SHORT BIO

Based out of Edmonton, Canada, Sleeping In Traffic is a progressive metal band whose artistic vision is built around the concept of change. Nothing in the band’s music is intended to remain static. Each album and performance brings new adaptations and innovations; always playing with the sonic possibilities.

Influenced by the likes of Between The Buried and Me, Devin Townsend, and Porcupine Tree, they have been manifesting dynamic, and ever-evolving music since 2014. Sleeping In Traffic released their debut self titled EP in 2014 and the full length ‘Feminism’ in 2017 that is a guitar-driven hard rock/metal concept album that borrows heavily from ska, jazz, pop-punk, and classic prog rock. They have graced many stages in Western Canada including performances at Alberta’s Farmaggedon Metal Fest (2015) and Edmonton’s Shredmonton (2016/17).

Sleeping In Traffic is releasing two new EPs in 2019, ‘That Which Saves Us’ and ‘That Which Will Destroy Us’ each with a different character. One explores the darker, heavier metal influences of the band, while the other channels the more upbeat side to their music. Synthesizers will form a core element to both of these releases due on September 27, 2019.

One explores the darker, heavier metal influences of the band, while the other channels the more upbeat side to their music. Synthesizers will form a core element to both of these releases due on September 27, 2019.

Sleeping in Traffic consists of four members, each with their own unique and eclectic musical tastes, which influence their contributions to the band.

Greg Turner’s unusual approach to guitar is a core element of Sleeping In Traffic’s music. Stuttered, chaotic time signatures and bizarre chord voices in catchy patterns flow from his fingers to form the basis of many of the songs. His use of a multitude of pedals adds colourful timbres and occasionally acts as their own instrument.

Ryan Berehulke carves out a thundering obelisk of depth from his 5-string bass and his tower of speakers. His style is definitive in a way that meshes perfectly with the guitars to provide a wall of reinforcement, yet often also takes the main stage, without ever abandoning the supreme role as the band’s foundation. His ingenuity in his approach to bass playing is indispensable; from the funky groove and raw, pounding roars; all the way to evolving, ambient textures.

Andrew Bateman is a mad scientist behind a drum-kit. With his intricate knowledge of rhythms, he weaves complex patterns in and around the eccentric time signatures that the music follows. His array of styles ranges from pulverizing metal to pattering, offbeat jazz and everything in between. He is always searching for novel rhythmic cadences and new ways to strike the same drums. He is highly technical, yet playful; often improvising on the spot and testing the limits of his fellow musicians.

Cory Bosse acts as the voice of the band, as well as the source of many of its most unexpected sounds. His bombastic singing style has its roots in the metal music that originally inspired him to make music, yet weaves in a multitude of techniques from the myriad of styles he has explored since. Operatic vibratos flow into passionate howls, jazz scat collapses into death growls, and beat boxing meanders into throat singing in a pandemonium of vocal exploration. To help compliment each song’s particular character, he harnesses the power of a host of instruments, including keys, saxophone, synthesizers, and guitar.
