One of the most known and recognizable metal bands in Italy coming out of the pagan and Celtic scene, MaterDea has a new video entitled “One Thousand and One Nights” in support of their latest album “Pyaneta” released this past July on Rockshots Records.

Following the direction started with “A Rose for Egeria”, MaterDea’s new record is a further step forward into the melding of metal and Celtic music, in the personal style that MaterDea’s fans will acknowledge and love once more. It is a powerful symphony where all the instruments and the voices join the sounds of nature, painting new grandiose landscapes enriched by colors and sophisticated arrangements. The melodies reveal themselves along with the sumptuous guitar riffs, a powerful rhythmic session and the twist of strings and orchestration, allowing the listener to be carried away in a dimension full of energy, beauty and hope by these magical tales.
The band describes “Pyaneta”:
“In this new album the stories are inspired by the deep interconnection that exists between every living thing and the largest sentient organism that hosts us, our planet Earth. It is an exhortation to the awareness of the environmental danger, a cry of hope for its future and a message of love for life in its gorgeous wholeness.”
MaterDea goes to great lengths to ensure that their listeners can be thrust away from reality and thrown into a fantastical world full of enchantment and magic and “Pyaneta”, their fifth album promises to do just that. Citing influences such as Genesis, Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin, the band creates a gentle yet powerful type of metal with various classical overtones. With a desire to create powerful, intense, emotional music that features pantheistic themes the 7 classically trained Italian musicians paint a rich fantasy world for their listeners. To date they have released four full lengths, “Below the Mists, Above the Brambles” (2009), “Satyricon” (2011), “A Rose for Egeria” (2014) and “The Goddess’ Chants” (2016).

This is the mentality of the 5-piece modern metalcore band ATLAS, hailing from Nokia, Finland who are more than determined to make an impact on the genre. Labeling their sound as ’’NORTHCORE’ the band released a critically acclaimed debut EP “Northern Lights” in 2016.
After 6 years of hard work, the band has found its firm lineup with members who have dedicated themselves and their lives to the music. In that half a decade, the band’s sound has developed and matured to the point where it is now a truly unique mixture of different genres and sounds.
“Our main influences vary from contemporary metal giants such as Architects and Bring Me The Horizon to rap, pop and ambient music that make our sound a mix of heavy hitting riffs paired with catchy melodies and immersive soundscapes. Iomair, (Scottish Gaelic for the word “Row”) is the experimental and progressive new band created by Drummer/Vocalist/Songwriter Dylan Gowan (Vesperia). The name reflects on Dylan’s Scottish/Irish ancestry and the songs are reflections of personal circumstances present in Dylan’s life.
Established in late 2017 in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, with the desire to create something progressive and unorthodox, Iomair draws influences from all genres including metal, folk, latin and funk and especially from bands such as Opeth, Cynic and Porcupine Tree. Emmans expands on his vision for the band’s direction: “I’ve always been a fan of catchy choruses. I like when bands can bring something dark and heavy but also give me something to sing along to. We’ve tried to do that with our new single and I think we’ve accomplished that. Also the lyrics have a great deal of depth and personal meaning to them. The rest of the album is much heavier but there are still plenty of good hooks worked in there.”
Even as a relatively new band, Atria is finding their place in the Canadian underground scene and making their name known amongst a wide variety of metal fans.

Assembled in 2003 to infiltrate, build and destroy, Gatineau, QC’s INSURRECTION is an aural onslaught assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English. Assembled in 2003 to infiltrate, build and destroy, Gatineau, QC’s INSURRECTION is an aural onslaught assaulting witnesses in both languages of French and English. Known for blending calculated technicality with a signature mixture of merciless death metal, the band has emerged to be one of the most prominent Eastern Canadian metal bands.
“We are a hybrid of the best and the worst that the metal underground has to offer, completely familiar, yet hard to pin down, better categorized as the many oddly familiar faces that death metal can take.” says band founder and vocalist Stef Jomphe.
Their 2009 debut release ‘Prologue’ gave true life to their monstrosity, the formation launched their second release 2010′s ‘Fracture’, a dark prophecy of unforgivable times and a brutal soundtrack to the fall of man. It pushed the limits with every outing, creating Insurrection to become more than the sum of its parts, but a merciless abomination.
In 2013, their third album ‘Prototype’ produced by Topon Das (Fuck The Facts) was unleashed on Quebec label Galy Records and another well acclaimed brutal assault that converted the unwitting to their legion.
Pushing development to blasphemous levels and quickly spreading their notoriety to areas of Quebec and Ontario. INSURRECTION continues to expand and modulate to corrupt the entire East coast of Canada returning with their new album “Extraction”. A true spectacle to be witnessed, LORDS OF THE TRIDENT is a daring adventure metal quintet that has been delighting their audiences and fans all over the world for ten years. “Zero Hour is a song about a virtual world that has a deadly time limit. When “Zero Hour” is reached, your body and brain disconnect, and you die. Clearly the only way to truly experience this song is INSIDE virtual reality, so we crafted a 360 degree VR video! Use a VR headset to completely immerse yourself in the video, or pull it up on your phone and physically move around to navigate the 3D world. You can also click and drag the video inside of your browser. Do you dare to watch all the way to the end – to hit ZERO HOUR?”
“Shadows From The Past” was supported by a kickstarter campaign that went live on June 1st and ended on June 29th. During that month, the band’s fans helped them surpass their goals to raise over $11,000 for the release. The band offered multiple packages and rewards that included merch, lessons from band members, festival tickets, private concerts and a copy of the video game Coffee Crisis that the band has partnered with to feature one of their songs for one of the levels along with band members as NPCs (non-playable characters).

Since climbing out of a volcano in 2008, shrouded in metal and ash, Lords of the Trident have gone to battle on many stages across the USA, playing and headlining a plethora of festivals and have an admirable arsenal of recordings in their inventory. The Lords of The Trident have released three full albums: “Death or Sandwich” (2009), “Chains on Fire” (2011), “Frostburn” (2015) , three EPs: “Plan of Attack” (2013), “A Very Lords of the Trident Christmas” (2014), “Re:Quests” (2015), and two live DVDs, along with numerous compilation singles.
