“We are stoked to be back in proper form. “This record is slammy, gory, and ultimately heavy” – Decibel Magazine (2025 – Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance)

“Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance is a triumphant return for Necrambulant, reaffirming their place as one of the most unapologetically brutal bands in the underground death metal scene. By blending relentless heaviness with horror-driven narratives and a touch of dark humor, they’ve crafted an album that feels both familiar and refreshingly refined. This album is a must-listen for fans of Devourment, Kraanium, and Cephalotripsy—or anyone who craves the heaviest, most grotesque corners of brutal death metal. Necrambulant has risen from the grave to deliver a ferocious reminder of why they remain a force to be reckoned with.” – Antihero Magazine (2025 – Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance)

“Necrambulant knows how to pound and the breakdowns fly around a person’s ears” – Musika (2025 – Upheaval of Malignant Necrambulance)

“the songs on Necrambulant’s comeback release, A Feast of Festering Flesh, are excellent slam filled sludge… The ep cover is also gruesome and nasty… if you’re looking for slam-filled sludge in the vein of Sanguisugabogg, Cephalotripsy and all the Russian slam bands combined get this ep. It’s fun, heavy and slamming. Brutal shit!!” – Teeth of the Divine

“Necrambulant exists as a means to get drunk and turn out fascination of gore, violence, splatter, and zombie flicks into what some define as the coining term for Necrambulant; “INHUMAN SLAM GRIND”. Ya dig?”’ – Brutalism

“It will intimidate and dominate as the harsh sounds unmercifully take hold but with more than just a warm embrace! It’s eagerly challenging and forthright and the band have held on to their reputation, although showing similarities in the tracks there is only so much you can do whilst snorting to a barrage of unruly riffs and tight drumming – so fair’s fair I think its absorbing and definitely worth a listen or sixteen! ” – Brutalism

“Well well. If this isn’t one of the heaviest starts to one of the heaviest songs ever. Epoch of Nihilistic Cosmic Failure has quite the opening. US band Necrambulant play Brutal Death Metal of the Slammiest Slam variety that ever did Slam. Or something. You get the idea. The sound of this début album is absolutely huge. You can almost feel the zombies pressing into your flesh like a physical presence. The riffs are so fat, bloated and outright heavy it’s amazing that the speakers don’t sink into the floor just by transmitting these festering, dense sounds. The tracks are all about finding the heaviest and most brutal ways to play Death Metal, and everything else is of secondary concern. That’s not to say that all of the other elements to the songs are unimportant or poor, it’s just not the priority here. I mean, they even find ways to sound heavier than normal when going fast. Most of this album is a complete chug-fest though, and it would sound boring if it weren’t for the fact that it’s just done so well… All I can do is recommend that you turn the volume up enough to make your ears bleed and sit in a darkened room until the music just takes you. Once infected by their zombie-plague you’ll be bouncing around like a motherfucker with the rest of us. ” – Wonderbox Metal

“Weirdo avant-garde metal band Frogg have jut shared a video for “Double Vision Roll,” and, boy, is it quirky. If you’re not yet familiar with Frogg, they are all about delivering a weird and wonderful live experience They experiment with different world instruments and songwriting ideas, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in heavy music, and you can see a little bit of that on display here. The song was produced by Frogg guitarist/vocalist Sky Moon Clark and Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, Scale the Summit). Frogg are recommended for fans of weird and wild, as well as those who appreciate a little technicality in their music.” – Decibel Magazine (2025 – Eclipse)

“The band is immensely talented, and their musicianship registers off the charts… This is an album that every Metalhead should hear, for the technical brilliance alone. 8/10” – Metal-Temple (2025 – Eclipse)

“Their musical style is a kaleidoscope of genres, with a real melting pot of influences… there is no denying that there is a lot of talent on show here. There is obviously a desire to produce something unusual and it will be interesting to see where they go from here. 8/10” – The Prog Space (2025 – Eclipse)

“It’s no secret that amphibians aren’t doing so hot as a class; Frogg‘s eclectic tech is a welcome consolation prize amidst this eroding diversity. The confident creativity of these NY-based herpetologists recalls The Odious at their most unhinged—a morass of influences ranging from electronica to deathcore that sticks to my neurons like flies to a tongue. Whether channeling the brutal (“Dandelion,” despite the name, is fairly dissonant) or the ethereal (“Wake Up”‘s clean vocals and synths), Eclipse hops between genres like we breathe. Evolution willing, they’ll continue carving out a niche for themselves in the crowded tech death ecosystem.” – Roldy – Toilet ov Hell (2025 – Eclipse)

“Frogg cover seemingly contradictory bases of portentous tech-death, galloping melodic thrash and hopeful, opne chord djent. It’s smart musical alignment with their theme of something new rising from the ashes of the old.” – Metal Hammer (2020 – A Reptilian Dystopia – EP)

“FROGG is a dangerous force of Technical Metal making themselves known!” – The Circle Pit

“Technical Death rising star” – GhostCult Mag

“The music is impressively performed and written. Crazy technical menageries of Adderall-fueled obsession meshed with emotive melody just spilling out everywhere. It’s a great time, and definitely worth checking out. Definitely a band to be watching in the future.” – No Clean Singing

“The guitar work is beyond phenomenal, and the vocals are just as catchy. They aren’t 100% death metal but are really a blend of modern tech metal and death metal. I’m extremely excited to see if the band is cooking up any live shows to promote the release and am definitely keeping my eyes on this project from here on out. If you want that Decapitated/Arsis/Obscura blend of groove and technicality Frogg is meant for you.” – Technical Music Review (2020 – A Reptilian Dystopia – EP)

“This is an incredible EP, guys. Every one of these songs has made it into heavy rotation, and I am honestly so excited to hear more in the future.” – Metal Trenches (2020 – A Reptilian Dystopia – EP)

“The quality on show here is amazing for a first release and has left us salivating at the prospect of their debut album [9/10]” – Metal Noise (2020 – A Reptilian Dystopia – EP)

“Bursting into life with a colossus bang, it’s a technical monstrosity that greets listeners with Ancient Storm. It’s wild, it’s nasty but it’s built on a foundation of sharp riffs and ferocious groove.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life (2020 – A Reptilian Dystopia – EP)

Wake Up To The Great Divide! Canada’s MARBLE GHOSTS Releases Politically Charged Video “Eat The Rich”

Sophomore EP “The Greatest Divide” Out May 2025

Announcing their highly anticipated second EP “The Greatest Divide” set for release in May 2025, Ottawa, Canada’s, Marble Ghosts have their next single accompanied by a music video. Entitled “Eat The Rich”, the song is a statement of today’s political climate shifting to serve the wealthy or the “1%”. The video is a message from Marble Ghosts to the rest of us. It paints the picture of two massively divergent groups- the people who are struggling to hold on, the ones staying in broken, abusive relationships just to avoid being homeless, and increasingly out-of-touch billionaires who could affect real, meaningful change with their bank accounts. Instead, the ultra-wealthy constantly seek more and more ways to enrich themselves.

Vocalist Dylan Gunnell explains further:

“This song ‘Eat The Rich’ is about the ultra-wealthy, and the great divide is clear with every billion added to their coffers while the people that enrich them through a broken system continue to suffer. While the chorus is metaphorical, in writing the lyrics, the band also envisioned an alternate reality where our planet has been devastated by a zombie plague. The ultra-rich are waiting for a shuttle to carry them to Mars, but it malfunctions, and they are trapped. The undead descend on them, and they are torn to pieces by the horde, the horde that once worked for them, that kept capitalism strong, the people that made them rich. In that reality, their fair share will be paid with a pound of their flesh.”

Musically, “Eat the Rich,” has droning bass that mixes with soft yet acidic vocals in the verses. The long-held scream in the chorus gives way to harmony that grows increasingly layered as the song evolves, creating the perfect contrast. The dirty guitar solo blends into mocking laughter and then powers through into a final chorus with three-part harmonies.

Watch and listen to the music video for “Eat The Rich” via its premiere on MetalInsider HERE.

Marble Ghost is a boundary-pushing ensemble known for its distinctive blend of metal, grunge, and punk influences. Emerging in 2023 onto the Canadian music scene with a distinctive sound and a fierce commitment to challenging societal norms, Marble Ghosts is a band with a message. The socially conscious quartet is back in 2025 with their sophomore EP “The Greatest Divide” a year after their debut self-titled EP released in March 2024.

“The Greatest Divide” is inspired by our reality, from the ultra-rich and the shrinking middle class to widening gaps in political and religious ideologies that are beginning to challenge and even erode fundamental human rights. Similar to their first EP these next five songs in their catalog highlight their diverse influences and styles and seek to lift up the marginalized through powerful messaging.

With this release, the band asks, “Are you ready to cross the greatest divide?” It is the type of divide that has splintered friendships and even families, where viewpoints differ so greatly, that we can see one another as enemies- traitors. While this seems bleak, some of the stories told through the lyrics are inspired by people who have crossed the greatest divide. But this wasn’t without hardship, as it was often the threat of losing their loved ones, their mental health, and even their own identity that forced the change.

Their music is recommended for fans of Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Saint Asonia, and Three Days Grace.

Marble Ghosts’ sophomore EP “The Greatest Divide” will be released on May 23, 2025

“Their sound is a unique blend of soft underscoring elements and heavy riffs.” – Decibel Magazine

“When a band is said to be for fans of Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace, this puts a lot of pressure on that band to live up to expectations, especially those of lifelong fan of all of those acts. However, Canadian’s Marble Ghosts have produced quite an exciting debut EP that’s made up of a mix of metal genres from metalcore and grunge to death metal. ‘Lie To Me’ has a heavy bass line intro before thick guitar riffs join in. This intensity is matched by the vocals, which seem to be drenched in emotion and this is what makes it a real must listen on the EP. Whilst the lyrics themselves don’t vary much, they don’t need to, because it feels like this track is about putting across a certain atmosphere rather than writing an epic tale. The band do delve into the political in ‘False Heroes’, where they question outdated thinking with such lines as “boys will be boys, all the while accompanied by an unsettling melody in a minor key. They use their own country’s history to influence this song, which the EP artwork and the band’s name are all linking together. 8/10” Powerplay Magazine UK

“End Of The World completes the EP and no lie instantly had us drooling with its air of nagging menace veined by swarthy guitar lures and a tension of creative distraction, an imposing coaxing soon evolving into a full incitement of animated temptation and keen adventure. Grabbing favourite track honours in its greedy fists, the song prowled like a predator and roared with punk dissidence, aligning both to melodic and sonic drama.” – Ring Master Reviews

“Now we have reached our last mention, my number one recommendation for this week’s list of incredible new music from this website of ours. They have recently just emerged on the metal scene with a distinctive sound. I am talking about the Ottawa-based band Marble Ghosts. Unveiling their self-titled EP, showcasing five compelling songs that you can hear across all streaming platforms now.” – ZACH’S PICKS OF THE WEEK – MARCH 4 TO MARCH 9, 2024 – #1 Marble Ghosts – Canadian Beats

“Marble Ghosts deliver a visceral finale with “End of the World.” Reflecting a generation’s disillusionment with the idea of meaningful change and the realisation that their actions may have little impact, the song captures the band’s uncompromising attitude with distinct vocals and a cacophony of heavy and glorious sound. Marble Ghosts, the band and EP, defies hard rock stereotypes and delivers music that reminds us that it’s not all sex drugs and rock-n-roll, but sometimes it’s get up, stand up, rise up, and make the difference you seek.” – Amplify The Noise

“This band is ultra-impressive with razor sharp hard rock, soaring vocals and superior song writing that really makes one stop and take notice of their greatness.” – WJOE- Findlay’s Home for Rock and Roll

“C’est propre et même chiadé, peut être un peu trop à mon goût : il ne faut pas chercher ici un hard rock écrit au feeling la clope au bec et la bière, désaltérant plus qu’il ne faut ses auteurs ! On est sur une musique qui tient plus de groupes comme Breaking Benjamin ou encore Three Days Grace qu’autre chose.” – SoilChronicles

“Fans of 2000’s era hard rock, especially those who were listening to that music during the time period itself, will get the most out of Marble Ghosts’ self-titled debut EP. It’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where Breaking Benjamin, hot off the release of We Are Not Alone, would take this group out as an opening act. Same goes for someone like Alter Bridge when One Day Remains exploded off the success of single “Open Your Eyes.” – Heavy Music HQ

Formed in 2020 during a time in which plague stalked the land and time lost all meaning, the core of Owlbear is comprised of North American scene veterans Katheryn Scary (vocals), Jeff Taft (guitars), and Leona Hayward (bass), all of whom hail from different corners of the continent. The band made their live debut at the sold-out Legions of Metal festival in Chicago in 2024 in support of their debut album “Chaos to the Realm” (2023) (Alone Records). Musically, Owlbear draws influence from classic heavy and speed metal and roots their lyrics in the media its members love, from the famous roleplaying game that inspired the band’s namesake to the Final Fantasy franchise. Dynamic vocals, frenetic riffing, and bass that are equal parts pummeling and acrobatic drive the band’s relentless approach, and with the imminent release of their sophomore album “Feather & Claw” on February 28th, 2025 via Alone Records, Owlbear aims to continue to carve out its niche within the heavy metal community with a savage swipe of a plumed talon. Hailing from Philadelphia, Empress is a symphonic power metal quintet that loves weaving grand tales over catchy and triumphant symphonic soundscapes. Their critically acclaimed debut album, titled “Fateweaver” released in August 2022, which renowned mixing and mastering engineer Dan Swanö has characterized as one of his best works in melodic metal, carefully entwines musical universes and invites you to follow your imagination and fantasy. Among Empress’ remarked past live performances, it is worth mentioning their album release show at Mad With Power Fest in Madison, WI, on the release day of “Fateweaver”, as well as having shared the stage with bands such as Oceans of Slumber, Seven Spires, and Grim Reaper on their journey to conquering the symphonic metal stronghold with sophistication. Lyric Video – Monarch – https://youtu.be/owZzuJQFxgc

Trekking from the Canadian North, Ottawa’s Lycanthro encapsulates a heavy, yet melodic sound, that is drawn from influences of both European/American classic power and thrash metal along with high howling vocals, piercing guitars, a booming rhythm section as well as uses of instruments such as piano and classical guitar to forge a powerful sound. Fans be prepared for an energetic and epic stage presence as they take you on their lyrical journey of classic horror and mythology. They recently released their new single “Iris”, which will be featured on their upcoming 2025 album “Remnants of Rapture”. The single was mixed/mastered by Damien Rainaud (Dragonforce / Once Human) and features a keyboard solo from Arttu Vauhkonen (Arion). Music Video – https://youtu.be/1aoIyZmPcOw

Local hometown heroes, Denver’s Celestial Wizard brings a mix of fantasy and heavy metal to the table, giving you a front-row seat to a sci-fi experience unlike any other! The band has been blazing new trails with their aggressive, powerful sound. Pulling from both power metal and death metal, they achieve a melodic, high-intensity mix that hits just right. Their sophomore album ‘Winds of the Cosmos’ showcases just that, as they deliver hard-driving riffs paired with aggressive, death metal-styled vocals. ‘Winds of the Cosmos’ is a metal monster in a league all its own! Music Video – Ice Realm – https://youtu.be/vcOlaXl3LaA

Also supporting the lineup will be Denver’s blackened pagan power metal Oak, Ash & Thorn who released their latest album “Our Grief Is Thus” in April 2024 on Lost Future Records. The album is a powerful, unique sound that is fully their own, as melodic and memorable as it is heavy and crushing. Now, Oak, Ash & Thorn are taking the next step in their journey by signing with Season of Mist. As they continue to tour in support of their latest album, the band will begin writing what’s bound to be a highly-anticipated follow-up. Music Video – Dying Culture – https://youtu.be/5nSJJUZTRE0

About:

The Mile High Power Festival, Denver’s only power metal festival was derived from the creative mind of Soren Bray. The idea was born after a night of celebration with his band, Celestial Wizard while attending the HyperSpace Festival in Vancouver, Canada. It was then that Soren realized the U.S. had only a handful of power metal festivals—and none near his home in Denver. Partnering with Lucy, owner of Bitesize Productions LLC, Soren teamed up to turn this dream into a reality. The duo pitched Soren’s dream fest idea to the Oriental Theater (Denver, CO, USA) who was thrilled to join the project! Thus it began.

MHPF’s inaugural 2024 lineup featured Seven Spires, Aether Realm, Traveler, Lords of the Trident, AfterTime, Judicator, Graveshadow, Celestial Wizard, Seizure, Starwraith, and Siege Perilous.

Mile High Power Festival is the ultimate gathering for power metal enthusiasts. Nestled in the heart of Denver, Colorado, this annual event is a showcase of the finest power metal bands locally and from around the globe. It’s a testament to the unyielding spirit and intensity of power metal music, uniting devoted fans and talented artists in a euphoric celebration. Immerse yourself in a weekend of high-voltage performances, camaraderie, and the unapologetic essence of power metal.

The night before the festival, they host an exciting Battle of the Bands event where local artists compete for a chance to perform at the following year’s fest. This event not only uplifts the Denver local music community but also provides valuable feedback to the artists from industry professionals. Join us for a night of great music and support Denver’s local talent!

DOUBLE EXPERIENCE Nominated for Ottawa Capital Music Award for Album of the Year “Undefeated”

+ Ontario Tour Dates

In 2020, the Ottawa rock duo Double Experience took everything they knew about music – thousands of international concerts, presenting at industry conferences, and writing songs inspired by video games and film – and channeled their process into a series of livestreams. The result? A crowdfunded album – consisting largely of spontaneous suggestions from Twitch users – called “Undefeated” released in May 2024 via their indie label Colfax Music Ltd.. Nearly a year after its release, Double Experience’s modern rock opus is now nominated for a 2025 Ottawa Capital Music Award for Album of the Year.

“WE’RE NOMINATED: “Undefeated” is up for “Album of the Year”. This is a huge honour, especially considering the nature in which this album was created via our Twitch channel.” adds the band.

Double Experience are nominated alongside the following artists listed below. More info on 2025 nominees can be found at at https://ottawamic.com/cma

By taking influence from Coheed and Cambria, Weezer and Palaye Royale, Double Experience bounce between sounds in a quest to compose music as diverse as an arcade gallery. In doing so, Double Experience have bonded with a passionate global fan-base with their undeniable live prowess amounting to nearly 1000 concerts across 18 countries, opening for all manner of acts, from Badflower to Danko Jones, from JJ Wilde to Galactic Empire.

By day, mild-mannered band members Ian Nichols (vocals, bass) and Brock Tinsley (guitar) deliver band-oriented workshops and panels at conferences, conventions and festivals (IndieWeek, MAGFest, Ottawa ComicCon), teaching up-and-coming creatives how to take control of their own destiny in a similar way as the duo’s musical alter-ego. The band have cowritten songs with Jayson DeZuzio (Imagine Dragons) and in 2016, their Destiny-themed anthem “The Glimmer Shot” caught the attention of the game’s developers at Bungie.

Their fourth studio album “Undefeated” (released May 2024 via Colfax Music Ltd.) was inspired by the fans for the fans all through live streaming on Twitch and has all things nerdy and is all about perseverance.

“Ever since writing songs on Twitch, our fans have a day-one connection with the music. No matter how weird or strange the goal might seem, our band is living proof that you can really make a breakthrough if you celebrate what makes you weird or strange, not shy away from it.” comments Double Experience.

Also supporting the Friday night stage, the Pacific Northwest’s Glyph (ft. members from Gatekeeper, Greyhawk, Hjelvik), which is not just a heavy metal band, they are a crew of intergalactic mercenaries escaping a dying planet in their spaceship, the VSS Dragonlord. Other to be treasured highlights of this year’s fest not to miss is Montreal, QC up and coming thrashers DROWNING IN BLOOD, who are notorious pit mongrels and have made quite a name for themselves in Eastern Canada. Vancouver’s GRAVEMASS, they might be a new band, but they feature some serious experienced metalheads from Zimmers Hole, West of Hell, The Golers, Punch Drunk, 3 Inches of Blood and Revocation. Switzerland’s technical death/black metal Stortregn, they deliver a mix of charging riffs, blast beats and brutality that leaves the listener begging for more. About: Since 2009 (minus pause years 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic), West Metal Entertainment and Armstrong Metalfest have not only fostered the talent of hundreds of local bands, but have imported well-known, international acts to the quiet, little Canadian town of Armstrong, British Columbia.

Each year hundreds of metal music fans from Canada and the USA descend into the picturesque Okanagan Valley and under the blistering sun, they spend three days camping, taking in a tonne of heavy metal fun over two days, spectating wrestling events, participating in scavenger hunts, and catching up with their extended metal family.

The festival has seen such renowned headliners as Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Nekrogoblikon, Origin, Rivers of Nihil, Warbinger, Fallujah, Striker, and Beyond Creation as well as emerging artists from across North America. At the end of the revelry, the festival disappears without a trace, leaving the landscape as pristine as it has always been.

West Metal Entertainment is a non-profit society that not only puts on the Armstrong Metal Festival every year in Armstrong, B.C. but also gives bands opportunities to play at different venues throughout the region including all-ages shows, to encourage musical passion in kids as well as adults.

Orchestral blackened death metal outfit Vortex has emerged from the void with their most ambitious release with their next concept record “Alien Realms”, set for release on April 11th, 2025, alongside the first single “When Humans Defy the Void”. With this release, they also announce eastern Canada tour dates with France’s XAON for April followed by European dates in October and November. They comment on the single:

“This song is a melodic assault, blending thrash-driven verses, hyper-melodic choruses, and an epic finale, all immersed in grand, sweeping orchestrations. Bold and daring, humans leave Earth in search of intelligent extraterrestrial life. This track is divided into three distinct sections: the thrashy, aggressive verses; the ultra-melodic choruses; and the glorious, epic ending.”

The band further explains that “Alien Realms” is a natural progression from their previous work. They’ve enhanced the orchestral elements while pushing deeper into blackened death metal territory. The EP explores humanity’s venture into space in search of intelligent life, though what they discover isn’t quite what they expected.

Known for their ability to seamlessly blend technical prowess with emotional depth, Vortex promises performances that showcase both crushing intensity and melodic sophistication. This can be witnessed at one of their live shows or felt through the song “When Humans Defy the Void”. They are recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Shadow of Intent, and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Canadian College Radio Charts – August 2023 – top 20 loud – #14 Vortex (earshot)

“#8 on Top 10 Quebec Band 2023 Albums – The Future Remains In Oblivion delivers a solid punch with their intense and well-felt symphonic death metal and, with a quality product like this, they have nothing to envy of the big names in the genre.” – Thorium Mag

“The Future Remains in Oblivion is the collision zone between powdered wig classical and battle jacketed death metal that should hold appeal for fans of Fleshgod Apocalypse, Septicflesh and those who like their Suffocation mixed with Dimmu Borgir.” – Decibel Magazine

“The song’s (The Walls) multi-faceted nature is further revealed in harrowing and haughty growls, jolting chords, and fiery sunbursts of sound, as well as through a swirling melodic guitar solo that spectacularly sends the song into the stratosphere. The song’s finale is itself a full-power spectacle that really gets the adrenaline surging.” – No Clean Singing

“If there’s anything that Vortex nails, it’s drama. Album highlight and banger track “First Blood” is simply massive” – Angry Metal Guy

“For some music is pure escapism but does that still hold true when bands like Canadian Melodic Death Metal monster Vortex whisk the would be listener into a bleak world that is recovering from a devastating cataclysm? Scenes of war and survival are punctuated with harrowing strings, technical riffs, and guttural and Black Metal inspired vocals as the band weave cinematic stories and orchestral touches into their third concept album “The Future Remains In Oblivion”” – Metal Noise

“the title-track The Future Remains In Oblivion, a song that will blow your mind with its insane wall of sounds, background orchestrations, epic passages, striking riffs and solos, and visceral yet intricate drums, resulting in one of the most breathtaking moments of the entire album.” – The Headbanging Moose

“An excellent group that you must discover because of the intensity they are able to show” – Ondes Chocs

California Prog LUNAR Reflects On Painful Memories In “A Summer To Forget” Lyric Video Off New Album “Tempora Mutantur”

ft. members Helion Prime, Beholder, Vis Mystica, Mokili Wa, Nordic Frost, Outloud, Double Vision

Making Live Debut at Hyperspace Metal Festival 2025 (Vancouver, BC) – April 11th

Top 1st Row – Ryan Price – Bass, Alex Bosson – Drums
Middle 2nd Row – Connor McCray – Lead Guitar, Chandler Mogel – Clean Vocals
Bottom 3rd Row – Carlos Alvarez – Rhythm Guitar, Brian Lewis – Growl Vocals, Anthony Stahl – Keyboards

Following the recent release of their emotionally charged concept album “Tempora Mutantur” this past January, Sacramento, USA’s progressive metal collective Lunar unveils their lyric video for “A Summer To Forget”. The final visual installment in the album’s narrative arc promises to be a poignant exploration of memory, loss, and the transformative power of musical storytelling, continuing the band’s unique approach to progressive metal as a form of emotional expression. They comment on the track:

“The album starts off with a song that sounds a bit upbeat musically (heavy with the horns) despite a fairly dark lyrical theme: dealing with memories, how we sometimes forget what we wish we wouldn’t and cling on to what we wish we could forget.”

The track represents a powerful entry point into the album’s complex exploration of temporal experiences and personal transformation. “A Summer To Forget” embodies the band’s commitment to creating music that transcends traditional genre limitations, offering listeners a nuanced journey through personal pain and potential healing.

Continued and driven by drummer and primary songwriter Alex Bosson (Helion Prime, Planeswalker) after the passing of co-band founder Ryan Erwin in 2018, “Tempora Mutantur” is the result of a deeply personal and introspective creative process. The video continues the band’s tradition of transforming personal struggles into universal musical experiences, inviting listeners to find their own emotional resonance within the intricate layers of sound and metaphorical storytelling. Fans of Tool, Porcupine Tree and Ayreon should be among the first to check out this track.

“If you like your progressive metal equal parts weird and rocking then look no further than the latest from Lunar. There’s a little bit of an Opeth vibe sometimes, but like recent Opeth, Lunar have a love for the classics. Tempora Mutantur is a fun one and an early favorite of mine in this new-ish year.” – Metal Injection (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“An album of Progressive Metal with forays into the more technical Death with interesting interweaving of clean and harsh vocal parts, between cantatoed virtuoso instrumental sections. The band confirms the good things heard previously, offering 8 incisive and technical tracks that enhance the compositional and performing technique of the lineup and guests. A recommended listen for lovers of the most Extreme sounds of Progressive Metal with references to bands like Opeth, to start this 2025 at its best.” – Progressive Rock Journal (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Tempora Mutantur is an impressive concept album – especially when you have in mind that several of the musicians have worked independently and never met… It will be interesting to see what it can develop into when the band finally meet each other for their first live performance in 2025.” – HeavyMetal.dk (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Their technical ability is right up there with a lot of Progressive musicians” – Metal Temple (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Progressive music has taken on a form of its own in the metal world over the years. At this point, there are only a few common elements that are present. With Lunar, every album remains progressive, yet is entirely different from each other, and Tempora Mutantur is no exception. One thing you can expect is that it is going to be good, no, great. Tempora Mutantur is Lunar’s fourth album and will be released on January 31st, 2025.” – Metal Nation (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“On each listen I get more out of it and as you can probably tell I think it is excellent. I appreciate that the band have made sure not to attempt to repeat the last album but to try new ideas and give listeners something fresh, new and exciting. The playing is excellent, the use of vocalists works very well and the themes are explored nicely… Considering how amazing “The Illusionist” was says how strong a follow up this album is. Anyone into bands like Dream Theater, Opeth, Haken, Ayreon or Tool should find a lot to enjoy here. This is thoughtful, intelligent, progressive music with words to match and I thoroughly recommend it.” – CGCM Rock Radio (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“New release from progressive collective Lunar drops tomorrow (Jan. 31st)! The new album “Tempora Mutantur” is a dense forest of progressive rock stylings that prog fans can sink their teeth into, the album cut “Weakening Winter Touch” is a favorite from the album that we have been eagerly anticipating adding and you can catch it on your Home for the Best New Rock…” – WJOE – Findlay’s Home for Rock & Roll (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“As Lunar get further into their career, they are becoming more agitated, as evident by how assertive the music is on their fourth album, Tempora Mutantur. Their use of two vocalists, one for the melodic content and the other for the growls, is more defined on this record, as they have more of an even partnership than before when the harsh vocals were less prevalent… Though originally conceived as an EP revolving around the four seasons, Tempora Mutantur was expanded with a vaster vision. It happens that this vision has the group at their heaviest, a spot from which they show great confidence. 4/5” – Heavy Music Headquarters (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Tempora Mutantur is filled with riffs and varied musical styles. They cover everything from clean, beautiful sections to challenging technical sections to prog death metal. Repeated listens are necessary to not only appreciate all that the band is doing on the album, but to learn how to appreciate some of the more challenging passages as well. If you enjoy progressive metal/death metal, I would recommend you give Tempora Mutantur a shot. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you give it a chance, it is actually a very enjoyable album that will stand the test of time.” – Metal Epidemic (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Marking their fourth full-length album, I’m happy to conclude that Lunar continues to produce music that very consistently delivers in quality. On Tempora Mutantur, they’ve honed their stylistic influences on a few ideas while treading on looser territory with their songwriting approach. Lunar has brought us a bevy of solid riffs to indulge in with a studio that, I hope in this economy, didn’t cost the band as much as they sound like they do. As time passes and the seasons continue to change I hope Lunar is still in the game for another four releases.” – The Progressive Subway (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Every Lunar album is a cause for celebration and Tempora Mutantur is another incredible offering from a band becoming a progressive metal powerhouse…. Any fan of progressive metal or extreme metal will yet again find themselves loving what Lunar do, a jukebox of prog metal which kept me loving it throughout. 9/10” – Musipedia of Metal (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“This quality is so high, and the variation as well.” – Melodic.net (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“Album dealing with the effects of time on our body, musically symbolized by this melodic alternation and heavy discharge. On OPETH, HAKEN, TOOL for a varied extreme music that is fun, moving, bestial and takes you to the guts. A sound closer to a VOIVOD than a DREAM THEATER, with Chandler playing on Brian’s growl to give this conglomerate of extreme music, like our personal double facet. A must for extreme fans, a musical danger for the progs of the 70s.” – Profil Prog (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“a fantastic display of Prog for the heaviest of fans to those who just appreciate masterclass musicianship. If you want a tribute to Prog, give this one a listen.” – Heavy Debriefings (2025 -Tempora Mutantur)

“An album to seek out by those who enjoy a more contemporary oriented variety of progressive metal that comes with 70s progressive rock inspired passages and interludes as a bit of a recurring feature.” – Progressor (2025 – Tempora Mutantur)

“LUNAR have sure hit on a way to keep you engaged, waiting for the next tonal shift and surprising instrumental variety. Not a flawless album, but a real interesting one.” – Wormwood Chronicles (2025 – Tempora Mutantur)

EPK – Dirty Shirt – FOMO (single) (2025)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

For fans of Dubioza Kolektiv, Skindred, Bloodywood, Alestorm, The Hu

“FOMO is the first single from Dirty Shirt’s upcoming album. Musically, it is a journey through different moments and places, blending various genres: from 80s disco to Balkan music, all built on a metal foundation. It’s a catchy song, with a chorus that sticks in your mind, radiating big positive energy. Lyrically, the song addresses one of the issues of modern society—the fear of missing out (FOMO). This phenomenon has become widespread with the rise of social media, where people constantly compare themselves to others and feel pressured to be part of every trend or experience.” – Mihai Tivadar – Dirty Shirt

“Long time readers will know by now that I am partial to the weirder side of heavy music. Dirty Shirt certainly has my attention this week. They’re like a mix of 6:33, Russkaja, and Turisas. This is bombastic, fun metal with Romanian folk mixed in. ” – Metal Injection

“This album is buoyant, blistering and bolshy; you certainly want to get your dose now!” 8/10 – Powerplay Magazine

“”Whoa! ‘Get Your Dose Now!’ is definitely not your average metal album. It’s simply something that you won’t hear anywhere else. Dirty Shirt is the real deal with extraordinarily talented musicians and a uniqueness that sets them apart from the crowd. If you’re in the market for some new music, this band offers something for everyone, from hardcore metal and thrash to tribal and traditional. It’s like your grandmother’s goulash recipe, a little of this and a little of that, with the end result being magical and inimitable.” – Uber Rock

“Are you bored with your current playlist? Perhaps you are looking for something a bit different than the bands you typically listen to? Then look no further my music-loving friends. Let me introduce you to the Transylvanian folkcore of Dirty Shirt. What started out as a wedding band has morphed into a magical, musical amalgam that blends modern hardcore and nu-metal with traditional acoustic instruments and Eastern European musical influences giving us an entirely new breed of metal with known as Romanian crossover folkcore metal. ” – Uber Rock

“Dirty Shirt did a good job again and ‘Get Your Dose Now!’ is a very nice album to listen to and it deserves a listen.” – Folk-Metal.nl

“This album can be discovered as you listen. It is rich, destabilizing at times, but always fair and imbued with sensitivity. With Get Your Dose , the DIRTY SHIRT surely give us their best album, and it was not easy given the quality of the previous one. No need to write sandwiches about it, you just have to let yourself be seduced. Cheer.” – Among The Living

“DIRTY SHIRT only sound like DIRTY SHIRT.” – Metal Temple
