Without Mercy have been teasing their upcoming album over the past weeks and the time is now for worldwide audiences to bask in the glory that is “Seismic”.

The vast majority of the material for “Seismic” was written and rewritten multiple times. Honed and tightened over tours and live performances, Without Mercy were unwilling to place “filler” to enhance anything. They came at this album with the best of everything they had after our inspirations were doing the same. The band shares their excitement for the release:

“We are beyond stoked to have our new album “Seismic” see the light of day. We couldn’t be more proud to have it out on Bloodblast distribution and powered by Nuclear Blast. These guys really got our album and understood what we were aiming for in style and composition. They get it. They really get it.”

For this album, Without Mercy wrote each song as an individual first and then grouped several songs together. Every inch of these tunes was going to be the best representation they could possibly get, this album represents four years of solid work ethic and unwillingness to compromise even in the slightest.

This is a chance to hear what tenacity can sound like. Lyrics that are an honest take on issues, riffs that have been refined over time, drum parts, and rhythms that are not standard or washed out. Even the mixing team behind it has a resume as long as your arm. The band pushed themselves in every field of this record and now that it’s here, fans can relive those moments.

For fans of Cattle Decapitation, Pantera, and Decapitated, the full stream of “Seismic” can be heard via its premiere on WeAreThePit HERE.

Suitable for every groove-loving metalhead out there, “Seismic” comes out on November 20, 2020, via Bloodblast Distribution.

“The thrash-stomp modes on “Worthless” ring like a head-on collision between DECAPITATED and BIOHAZARD with a dash of power metal thrown into the solo section. Alex Friis wrings his throat to huge extremes, hopefully leaving tissue intact as he hits agonizing squeals while throwing indictments against former band members — guess on your own who that might entail. DJ Temple’s guitar work on “Worthless” is terrific..” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Blabbermouth

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet play their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments. Over the course of a decade or so, the band has experienced the same highs and lows as most others, but their successes – which include a small handful of recordings, a bigger handful of tours, and appearances in video games – have been felt at a deeper clip because they’ve essentially managed everything themselves.”  (Mouchido EP 2016) – Decibel Magazine

“In a word, the music rips. And it also thunders, and punches so fast and hard that it’s like a jackhammer-sized nail gun ramming bolts into concrete at high speed while the operator howls and shrieks for all he’s worth, segmented by a start-stop breakdown that will give your skull a good rattling and lit up by swarming guitar flurries that are as fiery as the torches in the video (Burn).” (Mouchido EP 2016) – No Clean Singing

” the band live up to their name with each song on this 4 track EP going for straight for the throat; merciless aural violence and tight, technical proficiency melded with some serious might!” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Worship Metal

“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – PureGrainAudio

“Right from the beginning you feel the weight and the immensity of Mouichido and one listen just doesn’t do it justice. This is a re-release of previously recorded material with a new vocalist and even so, Without Mercy comes out swinging again and knocks it clear out of the park.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Cadaver Garden

“possibly the most savage song to ascend from the depths of the west in a good long while.” – Canadian Beats

Rockshots Records: Kult Of The Skull God Shares Video For Album Title Track  “The Great Magini”

Debut Album “The Great Magini” Out Now!

Kult Of The Skull God are sharing with fans their latest lyric video for the title track off their debut album “The Great Magini” released this past May via Rockshots Records. Taking inspiration from the titans of rock including Danzig, The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath they have combined slick heavy riffs with smooth yet haunting vocals.

The band adds about the video:

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and all the people of this enslaved World…Let me raise my top hat high to salute you all. May I introduce myself? I’m The Great Magini, wizard, and demon. Let me guide you through a journey to the forlorn lands of desperation and demise! Fancy a ride?”

The video for “The Great Magini” can be watched HERE.

Seeking a pure rock n’ roll sound away from the electronic elements of their previous band, Army Of The Universe’s vocalist Lord Kalidon and guitarist Davide Tavecchia have returned with Kult of The Skull God. Armed with the drummer Joey Amato they have energized their infrangible attitude, fury, and raw talent to save the world from mumble rappers, auto-tuned pop stars, and rock mediocrity.

Montreal, QC – November 16, 2020

T-Rex Marathon Pay Homage To Canadian Post-Hardcore Pioneers Alexisonfire With Video “A Prison Just For Us”

Video Premiere via PunkNews

Debut Album “Days Without Incident” Out Now!

L-R- Alex Hodges (guitar, vocals), Jeremy Toppings (bass, vocals), Darien Swolfs (drums), Adam Sakauye (lead vocals), Aaron Stafford (guitar, vocals)

Ottawa’s punk/post-hardcore act T-Rex Marathon released their debut album “Days Without Incident” on October 16th. On the full length, the band wrote a love track to one of their collectively favourite Canadian bands Alexisonfire. Entitled “A Prison Just For Us”, the song’s structure and feel pay homage to AoF’s track “Accidents” and if it were to be described in one word, it would be atmosphere for its interesting production techniques and slightly improvisational guitar parts.

Today, the band have teamed up with PunkNews for the premiere of the track’s lyric video, which can be viewed HERE.

The band adds:

“This song was written as an homage of sorts to Canadian post-hardcore pioneers Alexisonfire. AoF was, and still is, a huge influence on this band’s music. This song is a band favourite because it stands apart from the other songs on the album, featuring an emphasis on atmosphere and ambiance rather than punchy energy. This song might sound a little different from the others, but we do think it’s a great song that we think will really resonate with our listeners!”

For fans of Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, and A Day to Remember, T-Rex Marathon is out to prove they aren’t a one-trick pony with their first full length, which serves as a collection of everything they have been, will be, and currently are. The listening experience is a mix of nostalgia, reminiscent of the bands of their youth that they still love, and also intrigue. They have a goal of helping their fans reconcile their love of old bands and a glimpse of several other musical directions to explore, ultimately giving them a safe space to do so.

The band comments:

“We couldn’t be happier with this album. It’s the culmination of many years of growth, and we’re over the moon to finally show it to people. T-Rex Marathon attempted many times to write a full album before. It just never felt quite right, but after years of a shuffling lineup, changes in sound, and other roadblocks, we have a product we are incredibly proud of.

We have been described as many things, but one word kept coming up: Nostalgic. We had people from all over come and tell us that our music reminded them of their high school days. We were reminiscent of the music that introduced them in the communities they’re a part of today. We wanted to make an album that would feel familiar, yet novel. This album is a love letter to the bands that inspired us and a monument to the places we intend to go.

This album has something for everyone. As the five of us in the band, all come from different musical backgrounds, from punk to metal to musical theatre, this album covers a lot of ground, yet doesn’t feel like it’s drawn thin. But at the end of the day, we’re storytellers. We wanted to make a product that asks to be taken seriously, that demands active listening, that deserves your attention.

We hope that everyone else loves listening to it as much as we do.”

T-Rex Marathon‘s new album “Days Without Incident” is available on T-rexmarathon.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:
Starting out on the Ottawa metal/hardcore scene, T-Rex Marathon has adopted a unique sound that comes from a mix of Alternative Rock, Punk, and Post-Hardcore.

Formed by friends in high school, the band began to really take shape almost by accident and through dumb luck. The current lineup consists of Aaron Stafford (guitar/bass/keys/vocals), Adam Sakauye (lead vocals), Alex Hodges (guitar/bass/keys/vocals), Darien Swolfs (drums/percussion), and Jeremy Toppings (bass/vocals).

In a fiercely democratic writing process, every single member has input and a veto, sometimes resulting in a very long but completely organic process resulting in a synthesis of something everyone is happy with. As the band progresses, so does the love and attention that is put into each and everything they produce. The T-Rex Marathon family is and has always been, dedicated to making kick-ass music and leaving a mark in the industry, not only for them, but for their fans.

The boys in T-Rex, as the band is called for short, endlessly value their dedicated fans, affectionately known as Marathoners. After all, it is for them that they continue to write about what they want and play what feels right. T-Rex Marathon’s music is a simple blend of attack and melody that has the main goal of being not only fun to play, but fun to listen and rock out to.

The stage is a performing area, and this band refuses to give anything but their all at every show. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with bands such as: Of Burning Empires, Flesh Over Faith, Faithful Unto Death, and Project Mantra. They have also played Wretched Fest 1&3, Unite and Ignite 2012, 2014.

To date, the band has released 2 EPs Aurelia (2017), Eponymous (2016), and are readying to share with fans their first full length ” Days Without Incident ” due out October 16th, 2020.

“T-REX MARATHON has adopted a unique sound that comes from a mix of Alternative Rock, Punk, and Post-Hardcore… Today, we’re pleased to give you their brand new single “A Prison Just For Us”, exploring various influences, nodding to the classics, and delivering a bracing fusion of high energy and elegance.” – IdiotEQ

“Rising Ottawa-based band T-Rex Marathon will see a release of their first full-length album, Days Without Incident, this year with songs chock full of the bands’ signature mix of melodic punk rock post-hardcore.” – Ghost Cult Mag

“With “Days Without Incident”, T-Rex Marathon have created a mighty debut work. The band has their own sound, plenty to say and enormous talent, the way into the clubs and ultimately stadiums of this world is certainly paved.” – Artnoir

“T-Rex Marathon have put forth a strong, cohesive collection of songs, with enough diversity throughout to keep listeners engaged.” Canadian Scene Cult

Italian Doom Shores of Null Shares Third Excerpt From “Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)”

Rome’s Shores of Null have a third teaser to preview their upcoming doom record “Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)”. Close to forty minutes, the one track album is an epic journey through the process of grieving.

From a lyrical viewpoint “Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)” is inspired by the five stages of grief formulated by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and explored in her book “On Death And Dying”, hence the title.

Today, the band shares “Beyond the Shores (Excerpt III)”. The third excerpt opens with feeble notes of a grand piano before the unmistakable spoken words of Saturnus’ Thomas A.G. Jensen enters the scene, and his doleful growl finally puts you out of your misery. Saturnus is one of Shores of Null‘s favorite death/doom bands and vocalist Davide Straccione personally has been a fan of them since ‘Veronika Decides To Die’ came out in 2006. They’re truly honored to have him on board for this release.

Shores of Null stands out from its contemporaries with its ability to blend seemingly disparate elements and their ability to sound overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time. Blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place.

Recommended for any and all doom fans, especially fans of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Amorphis, “Beyond the Shores (Excerpt III)” can be heard via its North American premiere on DoomAndStoned HERE.

“Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)” will be released in its entirety on November 27th, 2020.

About:

Shores Of Null is a Rome-based metal band, an unwavering presence within the metal underground since their musical outset in 2013. They have churned out two impressive records: the melodic and somber  “Quiescence” (Candlelight, 2014) and the darker and more complex “Black Drapes For Tomorrow” (Candlelight/Spinefarm, 2017), both of which were highly praised by the worldwide music press.

Shores of Null stands out from its contemporaries with its ability to blend seemingly disparate elements and their ability to sound overwhelmingly heavy and soothing at the same time. Blackened aggression stands alongside gothic-doom sections without either sounding out of place. Their music can be both melancholic yet majestic, made of chorale-like guitar textures across the instrument’s entire range, sustained by a powerful rhythmic section and punctuated by a refined mixture of clean and growled vocals, along with extensive use of pleasing vocal harmonies which have become the band’s trademark through the years.

Shores Of Null has performed over 150 shows, including six European tours (with In The Woods, Ereb Altor, Hooded Menace, Mourning Beloveth, Novembre, Harakiri For The Sky, Sylvaine, and more), dozens of shows and tours in their home country (with Primordial, Arcturus, Candlemass, Moonsorrow, Leprous, Saturnus, Negura Bunget, etc.) and many European Festivals (Inferno Festival, Eindhoven Metal Meeting, Winter Days Of Metal, Doom Over London, Metalitalia Fest, Frantic Fest, and more).

Shores Of Null’s third work, “Beyond The Shores (On Death And Dying),” is expected to be released in November 2020 via Spikerot Records, continuing to prove the band’s willingness to go off the beaten path and create their ultimate doom manifesto, a 38 minute-long suite emphasizing their heavier, slower and dramatic side, inspired by the five stages of grief formulated by the Swiss-American psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross. The band has collaborated on the dark opus with many special guests, including two doom-titans, Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun) and Thomas A.G. Jensen (Saturnus), along with the angelic voice of Elisabetta Marchetti (Inno). The band is able to present an even more diverse and eclectic sound on the album thanks to the addition of classical instruments like piano and violin, along with the return of the talented Marco “Cinghio” Mastrobuono (Hour Of Penance, Fleshgod Apocalypse) behind the production desk.

One of Canada’s most versatile and vibrant rock bands along with being the 2020 Western Canadian Music Award winner for “Metal/Hard Music Artist of The Year”, Dizzy Mystics are proud to announce a brand new track, revealing it only with a video showing the live-off-the-floor performance.

This single “Centre of the 8” is a tease of the next Dizzy Mystic’s album, which follows 2019’s groovy and psychedelic “Wanderlost”. The band is certain that the high energy video will captivate listeners, as they comment:

“This song is a small example of things to come on the upcoming album. We’ve upped the ante on heaviness, breathing room, and melodic/emotional depth. Enjoy!”

The video was recorded live at Beyond Boundaries Academy in Winnipeg, Canada, with help from Clint Chaboyer (sound engineer/mixer) and Sean Perrun (cinematographer/director/editor) from Red Tie Productions. It gives listeners a look at what to expect from a live show: a wide range of 70s vocals, funky bass lines, and psychedelic rock riffs that will catapult you into a realm of dreamy, esoteric, progressive rock.

Weird, interesting, and nourishing, fans of Tool, Primus, and Frank Zappa should keep an eye and ear out for the next album from Dizzy Mystics.

The video for “Centre of the 8” can be seen via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

About:

Dizzy Mystics Soup for the Rocker’s Soul;
2 cups Psychedelic
2 cups Progressive
1 cup Hearty 70’s Metal
3 tbsp. Jazz
3 tbsp. Funk
2 tbsp. Folk
1 tbsp. Soul
A pinch of Celtic Pepper is optional

(Measurements of each ingredient are subject to change for each batch made)

As the recipe implies, rock music is the spoon that stirs the soup, and no genre (or spice) is out of the question for Dizzy Mystics. Climbing out the stock pot in 2015, Dizzy Mystics are a psychedelic rock band based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. One can expect a dynamically diverse, tastefully complex, and energetic dose of adventurous hard rock with feet moving rhythmic swagger, and stargazing melodies.

“It is clear that Dizzy Mystics may be among the most unique of the vibrant Canadian rock scene to be delivering tracks that will leave fans of classic, progressive, and 90’s alternative rock excited for what is to come.” – Canadian Beats

“Mysticism aside, this band certainly got the “dizzy” part right! The Winnipeg rock quartet Dizzy Mystics offer up a staggering musical concoction that, considering its progressive and experimental flair, is surprisingly radio-ready. Think Rush and Primus drinking wine with Tool before dropping acid with Frank Zappa and checking out a jazz club with Steely Dan. Dizzying, right? Jokes aside, frontman Kyle Halldorson, guitarist Alexandre Joyal, drummer Jeffrey Laird and bassist Aaron Bacon have some serious chops and, with the right amount of work, gigging and outside help, this Canadian act has the potential to not only see the end of the tarmac, but to also take off!” – PureGrainAudio

“Diamond Duller moves and groves, in interesting rhythms, changing from one beat to another, shifting and clanging with energy. The vocals bring about high energy and ensure the listener is hooked from the get go.” – The Median Man

“The quartet has crafted a psychedelic and progressive sound upon many others including melodic hard rock and funk.  The band takes you through a heavy and psychedelic trip on their latest single.” – Technical Music Review

“These guys are one of those aforementioned really good local rock bands from Saskatoon. In the running for the Best Band Name Award, Saintvicious is hard rock. They are some of the hardest rock you can get in Saskatoon, and anyone else who says they’re hard rock should compare themselves to Saintvicious to see how hard rock they really are. A little reminiscent of Five Finger Death Punch with the fast and unrelenting sound and beat, these guys are flat-out awesome. It’s sort of like the perfect rock band package came together and then dialed it up to 11, and that’s great.” – Saskatoon Star Phoenix

“Madison Erhardt can do the classic hard rock sandpaper vocal, the soaring high clean vocal, and the metal growl, all pretty damn close to perfect. Guitarists Ryan Kimmerly and Robyn Dolezsar hold their own with great solos and the most boring tone on Earth – more on that later. The rhythm section is appropriately in the pocket, displaying impressive chops and just the right amount of restraint to let the others shine. The drums sound just right, and cuts through the mix in just the right places.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews

There’s no question that the high-octane rock from Saintvicious lives up to the latter half of their name. The Canadian outfit premiered in 2018, comprised of long-time friends who were unsparing in what they love in heavy music. Gaining notoriety in their circles by executing brash riffs with rouse and fury onstage, Saintvicious is an exhibit of rock n’ roll, with all its bruises and attitude.

Following a year and a half of live shows, Saintvicious independently released their self-titled debut album, ‘Saintvicious’, on November 29, 2019, mixed and mastered by Josh Wildhorn (ex-Dragged Under, Designer Disguise). The band subsequently toured through Western Canada in support of the release.

“I think it’s rad! Good job!” Munky – Korn

“It sucks to go on after Phantom High” Dan Lobalsamo – Rehab Is For Quitters

“Phantom High performing at Handlebar, where the Toronto based horror glamcore group gave fans quite the show! The four piece shared the stage with Trick Casket & DI Auger for a horror filled night. If you’re looking for a terrifying mix of hard rock/electro with elements of Nu Metal Synthwave you’re in luck”. – Dropout Entertainment

“When a roving band of glam-core horror enthusiasts hunt down Trent Reznor on Purge Night and pull his guts out through his nose with a rusty fishhook, they’ll be listening to Phantom High.” – MyFreakingEars

“Just before the world fell apart, we recorded a studio session inside Playdead Cult’s DIY concert space, with an awesome Toronto GLAMCORE band called PHANTOM HIGH. If you haven’t heard of them that’s because they’re fairly new, but tune in and you’re gonna leave this episode understanding why we’re so excited about this band.” – Gobs The Zombie – Midnight Looms/94.9FM radio Western (London, ON)

Hailing from Toronto and flaunting a deep personal relationship with the pageantry of the macabre, Phantom High is already making their mark on a scene that too often leaves the “fun” out of “dysfunction”. The band has launched with a mission statement to bring authenticity, conviction, and theatrics back to a genre that centers on navel-gazing and nihilism.

The roots of their inspiration are easy to see for veterans of the golden days of goth and glam, drawing energy as much from the horror in film, anime, and literature as from the music genres that inform their hard-hitting live show.

Phantom High is anarchistic alchemy, bringing together the fundamental elements of what scares us, what turns us on, and what makes us hungry for substance in an ephemeral, digital world that no longer seems interested in keeping the blood pumping, the volume loud and the music in each and every face.

Phantom High prides itself on putting the music and the show first and foremost, staying true to their roots while planting new ones like mausoleums in the fertile ground of a whole new generation desperate for something to scream along to.

Now available for streaming is the debut album “Storm Over a Black Sea” from Canada’s Ysgaroth, a progressive and technical metal outfit blending styles of old school death metal, black metal, and sludge.

“Storm Over a Black Sea” is an attempt at creating a work that is greater than the sum of its parts, each track stands alone, but only when put together does something greater emerge. Engrossed in the unique sound, listeners are suffocated with harmonies and taken on a journey. The band comments about the album in their own words:

“The release of Storm Over a Black Sea is so many things for us: validation, relief, excitement, and too many other things to say. This album took far too long for us to record and finally release, but we’re beyond excited to finally have it out. We’re trying to do a lot of things on this record: honour our influences, play some fucking riffs, and push ourselves as musicians technically and compositionally.”

With a slick balance of long songs and short songs, it is an album that people can really come back to, and absorb the small details on repeat listens. The lyrics are the manifestations of the band’s own issues with the world: regret poisoning us, our consumerist society trapped in capitalism poisoning the world, and religions of all kinds being used as another tool to divide and control us.

The mix of black metal roots, classic 80’s death metal, 90’s thrash, and sludge with the long compositions of post-metal and the shifting, churning time signatures of progressive metal is highly recommended for fans of Wolves in the Throne Room, Death, and Morbid Angel.

The album is streaming now via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

“Storm Over a Black Sea” will be available on November 13, 2020.

About:

Ysgaroth is a progressive extreme metal band conjured in Vancouver, Canada that seamlessly blends elements of various metal subgenres into a vicious hybrid.

Initially, Ysgaroth started as Kurt Steigler’s black metal studio project, a non-serious musical outlet, but over time he grew attached to the songs and wanted to take them live.

With the desire to hit the stage, Steigler (guitar/vocals) was joined by Steve Cuddington (drums) and Shawn Hillman (bass) With these additions, the songs got more structurally ambitious, a sludge influence began to creep into the band. Cuddington brings an absolutely crushing, hardcore-influenced drumming style that gave the songs a new vitality, and Hillman’s exceptionally musical bass playing served as the perfect bridge between the crushing drums and razor-sharp guitars. Ultimately, the sound of the band became a mix of its black metal roots, classic 80’s death metal, 90’s thrash, and sludge with the long compositions of post-metal and the shifting, churning time signatures of progressive metal. Steigler is the main songwriter, but overall the process is hugely democratic.

The debut album from the band “Storm Over a Black Sea” will be unearthed on November 13th, 2020, and considering the growing amount of music they have been writing – fans can expect a lot more from Ysgaroth.

Sadistic Embodiment Vocalist Posts Growling Playthrough Video For “Gallows Hill”

Out Now! New Album “Blood Spell” via CDN Records

Canada’s Sadistic Embodiment unleashed their new album “Blood Spell” this past September via CDN Records. The full length follows the band’s three EPs Beloved Imprisonment (2019), Blodörn (2018), and Self-Titled (2018).

Featuring nine beastly tracks, vocalist/guitarist Jason Cullen is sharing with fans a growler of a playthrough for the band’s “Gallows Hills”, which can be viewed via CDN Records‘ Youtube channel HERE.

Cullen adds:

“I deliver a distinct midrange old school thrash voice on this crossover death-thrash banger. The song’s high energy delivery is assisted by our bassist Curtis Vieville and guitarist Wally Fischer’s death screams and growls right off the bat (“BLEH!!”) and during the chorus.”

Sadistic Embodiment continues their sonic onslaught, each of the nine songs on “Blood Spell” has a distinct feel given the variation in vocal and instrumental styles throughout the album. Each track stands out and yet they are all uniquely Sadistic Embodiment. This will please old school death metallers and the new school with a variety of punch-in-your-face hooks, melodic passages, and absolutely brutal anthemic choruses.

The band comments on the album:

“After spitting out three EPs this last couple of years, we were really stoked and kind of nervous settling into a longer writing and recording process for Blood Spell. As per usual, we cranked out the material during bi-monthly jams, but this time we really took our time crafting the music once the main structure of the songs was built. Our sound is still exactly the same, but the listeners may hear more broad musical influences across the nine tracks.  There are tracks that sound distinctively Wally and Jason and certain tracks where you really hear Bryan shine as he shows off his technical prowess.

A lot of our songs are longer than your average death metal track, and they are relatively simple in regards to guitar and lyrical work. But with longer playtime, we were able to fit in more ambiance and guitars solos into every nook and cranny.”

“Blood Spell” is available on CD from CDN Records here and digitally on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

“Canadian death metal executioners Sadistic Embodiment have emerged from their quarantine torture chamber to release their first LP, Blood Spell. After establishing their brutality across three EPs, they’re ready to give the world a global enema on their full-length debut… Sadistic Embodiment will appeal to fans who want both mosh-ready slams and razorblade riffing. ” – Decibel Magazine

“The band’s new album, Blood Spell is full of hooks, riffs, blasts, and blends of old and new school death metal. Plus, Sadistic Embodiment shows you can throw Bryan Newbury (Into Eternity, Untimely Demise) behind the kit in any band and make gold out of the drumming… Early on in the album, one of the first songs to come across is “Gallows Hill”. This song probably features the most riffs of any on the album, but one key part of Sadistic Embodiment is the lyrics. This is a band focused on telling a story with each song moreso than just trying to write the heaviest death metal out there. “- Metal Injection

“Edmonton’s Sadistic Embodiment Channel Their Disdain for the Modern World on ‘Blood Spell'” – Exclaim!

“Canadian metal outfit Sadistic Embodiment are gearing up for their new album, Blood Spell, out September 18th via CDN Records. The follow-up to their three consecutive EP’s Beloved Imprisonment (2019), Blodörn (2018), and Self-Titled (2018) is promised to be a continuation of their ruthless death diversity ranging from similarities of Gojira, Rotting Christ, to Bloodbath and Kataklysm.” – Metal Insider

“The album weaves back and forth between thrash and full-on death metal, with surging hooks aplenty and a good deal of genuine catchiness – especially over the album’s front half – topped by the bark, growls and shrieks of bassist Curtis Vieville and guitarists Wally Fischer and Jason Cullen.” – Metal Rules

“Pure and unadulterated death metal is at hand in the band’s assault, but don’t expect it to dull your senses as it continues. There’s a number of dark melodies that weave their way into the sound and craft some catchy moments that keep it brutal but still quite memorable. Not to mention some heavy grooves (see “Flesh Deposition”) that are definitely going to catch some ears. A rather promising debut for extreme music fans to dig into.” – DeadRhetoric

“I can honestly say that SADISTIC EMBODIMENT would rip apart any venue with their music and all the crowd would be screaming along. SADISTIC EMBODIMENT is on the up, and I cannot wait to see what is in store for this powerhouse of a band. 10/10”  – Metal Temple

“By the time “Cerebral Termination” hits, “Blood Spell” isn’t a record you want to reach a conclusion. The tracks get better and better as it plays through from high quality starting point and the ideas and nuances just keep coming. Another one with seriously impressive lead work, it fades out all too soon. 8.5/10” – Metal Noise

“this is a meaty chunk of Death Metal… The songs are mostly mid-paced and full of pummeling, grooving riffs and unrelenting heaviness, but what helps set this apart from the masses are the startling tremolo sections and some deeply impressive lead work, which contains a keen sense of melody along with a degree of musicality that you don’t often see in the genre… an enjoyable release from a talented band, and fans of more technical Death Metal will want to give it a listen. 3.75/5” – The Metal Crypt
