Montreal, QC – March 2, 2021

For fans of Trivium, In Flames, Meshuggah, Dragonforce, Devin Townsend

Grimmreaper Covers Babymetal’s “Road of Resistance” w/ Own English Lyrics

Track Premiere via New Noise Magazine

Debut Album “The Tragedy of Being” Out March 2021

The fourth and final single leading up to the full release of Grimmreaper’s debut album “The Tragedy of Being” is upon us, and today he shares his cover version of Babymetal‘s “Road of Resistance”, which features Dragonforce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman on the original recording.

Grimmreapear elaborates for choosing the track to cover:

“I’ve been a Dragonforce fan forever. I first heard this song by Babymetal and thought ‘That’s Japanese Dragonforce for sure.’ Sure enough, Dragonforce helped write some songs for them, including this one. I’ve been a fan of Babymetal ever since.

I re-wrote the lyrics in English in 2018 and recorded the cover in my apartment when I lived in Japan. I lived there for a little over a year. It took almost 2 years of learning, recording, failing, and trying again before it was done. Dragonforce often writes about the hero’s journey, mountains, dragons and archetypes, and this cover sticks with those themes, but also fits in with the album’s story.”

Grimmreaper also pays homage to Dragonforce’s writing style by making the cover version of the song about the nobility of moving forward in life, up the mountain. It also fits into the theme of his own album “The Tragedy of Being” quite nicely. The full length is a concept record, which goes through the default conditions of life, tragedy, and suffering, and the options they present, nihilism and resentment, or transcendence and courage.

Grimmreaper’s solo project has been described as mixing technical styles like those of Dragonforce and Meshuggah with mainstream styles like Bullet For My Valentine and Five Finger Death Punch. “The Tragedy of Being” is a dark record with many twists and turns, but never boring. The album is a journey through different tastes of metal, and while it’s meant to be enjoyed from start to finish, each song stands strong on its own.

Recommended for fans of Meshuggah, Trivium, and Devin Townsend, Grimmreaper‘s cover version of “Road of Resistance” can be heard via its premiere on New Noise Magazine HERE.

The full release of “The Tragedy of Being” is out on March 30, 2021.

About:

Logan Grimm is an ambitious young artist seeking to take on the world, and the creator of Grimmreaper. He has developed an intense backstory for a multimedia project that explores the very human realities of tragedy and suffering, and the choices they present, from nihilism and resentment to transcendence and courage. In the process of this, he has crafted music that fuses the influences of highly technical bands like Dragonforce and Meshuggah with the work of more mainstream names such as Five Finger Death Punch and Bullet For My Valentine.

The project, which will start to see release in the early half of 2021, will center around an album entitled The Tragedy Of Being. The record explores noble and contemptible ways to respond to the conditions inherent to human consciousness. Since it is wholly a solo project, Grimm will perform on the record as each ‘band member.’ He will also represent each member in the videos released for the project, each hidden behind a black hood with a different appearance. The Tragedy Of Being will be accompanied by a documentary of the creation process featuring the twin personalities of the business-minded Logan and the poetic artist, Grimm. It will embody his sense of humor, split personas, and inspirations.

Representing himself as the embodiment of his lyrical themes, Logan Grimm has built a strong visual presence for the project. Instantly recognizable and endlessly ambitious, there are a lot of interesting twists and turns presented in the work of Grimmreaper. With a bright future painted before him featuring everything from forming a DIY label to endless touring, Logan Grimm has the ambition and the vision to match. Poised to be the next great force in metal, Grimmreaper look boldly into the future.

EPK – Synastry – Dividing The Double Helix (EP) 2021

Publicist – Jon Asher – asher[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“We are very excited to be able to release this EP as the second in the string of releases coming from Synastry since our renaissance in 2020. Listeners will love the hooks and the musicianship on these songs, as they are 3 songs selected to keep you going back to listen and relisten to. We believe in the strength of all 3 of these songs, that can all stand as singles on their own. Putting the 3 of them together only underlines how strong they are ‘Dividing The Double Helix’ is an EP that will grab you and won’t let go!” – Synastry

“This new song (Dead To Me) is a short, sharp kick to the head — and it does kick like a furious mule, albeit a massive and mechanized one. The music is fast and ferocious, loaded with pulse-rifle riffs and hammering drums, blaring chords and squirming arpeggios, booming bass and a mix of serrated-edge growls and incendiary screams. The music is heavy-grooved, with a bit of a start-stop quality that hints at industrial influences to go along with the death/thrashing momentum, and also effectively creates an atmosphere of menace and mayhem. It may bring memories of Lamb of God to mind as well as Fear Factory.” – No Clean Singing (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“This EP contains lyrics that people from all walks of life can relate to and shines a much-needed light on each individual’s importance in the grand scheme. Given the year we have had collectively, this is one new age metal album that the world needed. If you’re looking for a futuristic metal EP with a deeper meaning, “Civilization’s Coma” is a must listen.” 10.10 – Metal Temple (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“The hammer blow that is “Dead to Me” was the first single, front loaded with schizophrenic riffs and jack hammer footwork Synastry have wasted no time in delivering something that is straight to the point with vicious intent. There is even time for blast beats and some Godflesh inspired industrial noises that frame and enhance segments. Aniston has the power to manipulate his voice to create a number of different voices with the use of pitching and on the ripper that is “Narcomancy“, he sounds like he’s going slowly insane.” – Metal Noise (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“James Aniston’s throat abrasions are raucous and psychopathic at the same time, boiling with anger and imperious might. The double-kick triplets of Kay Kessler’s drum patterns follow the syncopated guitar chugs in perfect time. Everything clicks into place like a torture machine from a Hellraiser film” – Scream Blast Repeat (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“Synastry deliver their brand of classic death metal with an industrial twist. The result is a Thrashy head-long experiment into the brutal and somewhat futuristic. Musically tight and heavy with mean riffs, Synastry try to head into a new direction for Metal.” – Sea of Tranquility (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

“Montreal-based metal maulers Synastry play a brutal yet groovy style of death metal with fringes of industrial that recall bands such as Fear Factory and Killing Joke with the savagery of acts like Kataklysm.” – Gears of Rock (2020 Review – Civilization’s Coma)

=====================================

The EP as a whole: A fast-paced groove fest that will hook you from the first note and make you bang your head throughout

Track by Track:
1. Dividing The Double Helix
The title track is all about how I (James Aniston) have always been curious about what I am and how I have become what and who I am. There are so many reasons why we become what we are, and we can never know what they all truly are.

2. Cryolife
The second track is about programming yourself thru auto-suggestion and the emptiness that comes with the accomplishment of your goals. The never-ending grind of working to meet your goals without reflection on who you are as a person is a dangerous game that you can lose yourself in.

3. Assembly Line Asylum
The final track is about the process of creation and replication, and how everyone can make different versions of themselves in order to better deal with a given situation.

=====================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS

1. Guitars, drums, and bass were tracked with JF Dagenais. Vocals were tracked by Christian Donaldson. Samples were done with Kevin Jardine. The mixing was all done by JF Dagenais and the mastering was done by Jef Fortin. We chose the cream of the crop when we recorded and got this amazing result.

2. The lyrical concept for this EP and the rest of the EPs we are planning on releasing are written from the viewpoint of the individual’s view of themselves in relation to society. The hope that the individual can take the responsibility to be ‘better’ for the whole while not compromising their own wants, needs, and beliefs. Inspiration is drawn from James’ life and things he has seen his friends and family live through.

3. The lyrics for these songs and all other SYNASTRY songs to be released all find themselves in a kind of disjointed tapestry that follows an ever-growing story.

It takes courage for a band to integrate such distinct thrash, death, and industrial influences into a catchy yet multilayered approach as do Montreal’s Synastry.

Each metal listener desires something different and thus a band exists for every taste. Inspired to a certain point by melodic, futuristic death thrash, Synastry binds to these influences a threatening mid-paced groove, atmospheric textures, and the unmistakable gruff and mature vocals of James Aniston. Flanked by guitarist Paul Iverson and bassist Gary Vee, and backed up by the thunderous Kay Kessler, Synastry is a crushing wall of well thought out and meticulously written metal. Lyrics come from Aniston’s impression of the world and his experiences in it which are layered with the collaborative music that all band members contribute to.

Started originally in the early 00s, the Montreal band took the underground scene by storm, they climbed the Myspace ranks, toured the regions, and released “Pallets Of My New World” (2006) (EP) and Blind Eyes Bleed (2008) (LP). In 2012, the band went dormant, where they remained until 2020 and awakened the world with the rumbling sounds of their resurrection in the form of EP “Civilization’s Coma”. Its mission amidst the widespread uncertainty of Covid times was to sweep the globe and to explore humanity, the singularity, and its morality.

Just like a rising phoenix, Synastry continues to burn its flames by kicking off 2021 with another EP.

Entitled “Dividing The Double Helix”, the EP is three tracks best described as a fast-paced groove fest that will once again hook fans from the first note and make you bang your head throughout. It’s simply heavy groovy brutality!

“We hope to give fans more of what they are used to from us, without rehashing old ideas. Thematically these 3 songs are similar to Civilization’s Coma EP, but the delivery is different. The lyrics from these three new tracks are very personal to me. It comes from my impression of how I feel I fit in the modern world, and how I see myself.” says vocalist James Aniston.

“Dividing The Double Helix” is due out March 26, 2021.

Canada’s Ischemic, purveyors of all things gloomy and dissonant are gearing up to release their second album, a self-titled full length, that is set to be one of the most crushing albums of the year.

The single “Scabs” is the first glimpse into the physically crushing sonic experience of “Ischemic”, which contains five heavy doom tracks with veils of melodic destitution weaved throughout. At 6 minutes in length, “Scabs” is a very long single, but gives ample time to immerse yourself in the pure 80s death-metal filth contrasted with crushing, doomy choruses and crusty black-metal leads, with a classically face-melting solo from Adam Korchok at its center. Ischemic comments on the upcoming release:

“We expect the album to be a fan favourite. The production is the perfect balance of polish and rawness and seems like the best representation of our live sound so far. These songs developed as a response to the more complex and melodic black metal sound on “Stagnation & Woe”. The tracks call back to the earliest days of the band, but with a decade of songwriting & touring experience under our belts.”

Crafted during lockdown, the listening experience through “Ischemic” is a trek through a haunted castle, every corner infested with isolation and creeping dread. Dungeon-crawling doom and sludge riffs are threaded together with creaking, subterranean passages of guitar ambiance and noise. Charging death-metal assaults relent to spell-casts of dizzying black metal. Their most DIY endeavor yet, all production, engineering, and artwork was handled by the band and close friends, resulting in this stripped-down but unrelenting collection of songs.

The intense, raw brutality of Ischemic is recommended for fans of Autopsy, Ahab, and Celtic Frost.

The single “Scabs” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The self-titled album is out on April 2, 2021.

About:
Ischemic formed in 2012 through the unholy power of Kijiji, where both Isabelle Tazbir (vocals/lyrics) and Adam Korchok (guitar) were searching for fellow ghouls to play some sort of doomy, monolithic death metal. They linked up and began to pull together people from their respective friend groups to play in the band. It wasn’t long before the lineup was solidified and Ischemic could begin churning out filthy, crushing metal from the void.

Ischemic works collaboratively, riff skeletons are brought to the rest of the members, then cursed with flesh. This cohesiveness has resulted in 4 recordings:  “Frigid Descent” (2013); “All Paths Lead Nowhere” (2016); “Stagnation & Woe” (2018); and “Ischemic” (2021). The earlier records resonate with filthy, hellish, death/doom sounds that give way to experimentations in melodic black metal with “Stagnation & Woe”, and a revisit to the past in the most recent album.

The experienced musicians also lend their talents to other local acts; Tazbir has done time as a vocalist in the death metal bands Saprophyte, Serene Molestation, and Blastomycosis, and is currently in Experiment Specimen. Anthony Abbatangelo (bass) plays in the drone/psych band Qarafa and occasionally records and mixes projects for local bands. Mrudul Kamble (drums) fronts the progressive/death metal act Mors Verum and is working on launching a recording studio from his new home in Waterloo, ON.

The live show (post covid times) from Ischemic is both unsettling and energetic. What little light is permitted showcases disjointed, violent movements as Tazbir lures you into their tales of woe. They have shared the stage with the likes of Volur, Greber, Woe, Beyond Creation, and Iskra.

Ischemic’s new self-titled album is due out April 2, 2021.

“Toronto’s Ischemic have plenty of blood, plus sweat and tears, in their similarly volatile fusion of death, doom and black metal.” – Exclaim!

Manuel Barbará Conjures The Weird And Wonderful With “The Nightmare Weaver” Off Upcoming Album “Moonrise”

“The Nightmare Weaver” Guitar Playthrough Premiere via NewFuryMedia

Album Out March 19th, 2021

Heavy, ambient, classically inspired progressive metal is the name of the game for New Jersey’s Manuel Barbará. Looking to create something short, but still substantial for his debut release, he has come up with the seven-track instrumental album “Moonrise”.

Much of Barbará’s writing aims to create worlds made of sound that the listener can live in as they experience the piece. A lot of the music grows out of a single idea that he can coalesce and build the world around. The second single from the album is “The Nightmare Weaver”, which he says is the most ambitious composition on the record. He explains in further detail:

“It features ambiguous and constantly shifting tonal centers and epic clean guitars juxtaposed with enormous 8-string riffs. It ends with a weird and ambiguous chord progression reminiscent of the one at the end of “Children of Prometheus”.”

As far as more music goes, Barbará says there is another track in production and an abundance of ideas for new tunes. This album is his first foray into the music world, in which he is currently planning to attend graduate school for composition with the long-term goal of becoming a professor.

This album will resonate with all fans of this style of music, especially fans of Keith Merrow, Periphery, and Tesseract.

The single “The Nightmare Weaver” can be heard via its guitar playthrough premiere on NewFuryMedia HERE.

Rockshots Records: Out Now! Australian Sleaze Rock LACED IN LUST Debut Album “First Bite”

Aussie Hard Rockers Laced In Lust‘s debut album “First Bite” is out now as of February 26, 2021 via Rockshots Records. With a sound frequently described as a “Sleazy Status Quo” with the image of the “Sunset Strip”, Laced In Lust has been turning heads since their first show in April 2012. The 14 track full-length “First Bite” is a diverse record with some major sleaze elements to hold true to the genre, but also have some just good ol’ Aussie rock n’ roll tones with a slice of dirty blues.

Bassist Oopie comments:

“This album is full of blood, sweat, tears, and perhaps some other fluids! It’s been one hell of a party. With numerous EPs, it was the next logical step, but little did we know it was writing itself whilst we were giving it all playing live shows all over the world and meeting the most important members, the fans, supporters, our new friends. Which for me is who this album is really for. The events leading up, the love, the loss, the highs and lows, and all the experiences in between is what makes this album something I’m really proud of and ready to share with the rest of the world.”

For fans of Airbourne, Scorpions, Status Quo, Laced In Lust’s debut album “First Bite” is available on all digital platforms.

Rockshots Records: Out Now! Infernalizer (ft. Claudio Ravinale of Disarmonia Mundi) Debut Album “The Ugly Truth”

New Lyric Video For Album Title Track

Infernalizer, a brand new creature conceived and brought to life by the creative mind of Claudio Ravinale (Disarmonia Mundi) to portray his own take on the heavy metal genre unleashes the debut album “The Ugly Truth”, now available as of February 26th via Rockshots Records.

For its release day, Infernalizer is sharing its latest lyric video for the album’s title track, which can be heard and viewed at the following link below.

Lyric Video “The Ugly Truth” – https://youtu.be/t1KA9IvKgeE

Infernalizer was created by Claudio Ravinale who is best known as the vocalist of Italian death metal veterans Disarmonia Mundi, who have achieved worldwide recognition with their high-octane melo-death throughout two decades and featuring Bjorn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork) among their ranks, along with being in other recognizable bands such as The Silverblack, 5 Star Grave and The Stranded.

Heavily influenced by 80’s metal acts such as Iron Maiden, Alice Cooper, Danzig, and Claudio Ravinale’s new project Infernalizer relies on the use of gloomy keys and eerie samples, paying homage to more somber gothic rock acts like Type O Negative and The Sisters Of Mercy. Vocally closer to contemporary acts like Rob Zombie and Wednesday 13, the range of influences also includes evocative cinematographic soundscapes that provide Infernalizer’s songs with a more solemn and nocturnal atmosphere.

Infernalizer‘s new album “The Ugly Truth” is 10 tracks to take fans on a roller coaster ride into band founder Claudio Ravinale’s own horror-themed amusement park. Providing a modern take on the concept of heavy metal, the full-length features crooning vocals alternated with more harsh yet still melodic tones along with added layers of evocative keys and samples for a solid foundation deeply rooted in an 80s metal sound.

“I’m a child of the 80s that loves horror movies. So as soon as I started to think about how this band was going to sound I really tried to focus on my main influences, the music I’ve grown up with and tried to filter all these influences giving them a more actual approach. To me, this record is like a Nightmare On Elm Street movie made music: there’s the horror part but without forgetting the lighthearted approach.” adds Ravinale.

The album was produced by NeroArgento at AExeron Studio (Turin, IT) and mastered at Sterling Sound Studio (Nashville, TN) by legendary Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer Ted Jensen (Guns N’ Roses, Korn, Pantera, Alice In Chains).

Formed to cause confusion and fear in people who don’t understand what heavy metal is about, Helsinki, Finland’s BLOODY HELL (ft. members of Moottörin Jyrinä, Metal De Facto) have been wowing fans around the globe with their loud, unapologetic, speed demon tyranny for two decades. Known for their drunken wild shows, the band has always presented good times in the circle pit with anthems about drinking, hangovers, devil-worshipping among other important matters.

Taking a hiatus after releasing two EPs, Hangover Riders (2010), What The Hell (2003) and a self-titled album (2015), along with all members focusing to perform with their other project Moottörin Jyrinä (a children’s heavy metal band that plays cover songs from classic 1980s heavy metal songs with child-friendly Finnish language lyrics with an educational tone), the quartet returns in 2021 to continue the party as grumpy old men with strong 18-year-old angst. Their new record “The Bloodening” due out via Rockshots Records on April 30th, 2021 features 12 fist-pumping songs to kick the band’s new found momentum into overdrive.

To get the headbanging party started, the band is sharing their first single off “Burn Witch Burn” from the full length. The track is good old-school 80’s metal in the vein of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept, and Helloween.

Band co-founder and guitarist Jaakko Halttunen comments on the single:

“What do you do when someone does something wrong or somebody suspects that someone has done something wrong? Even without evidence? You’ll of course shout: BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH!!!! This Song is about the darker side of social media and the yellow press. It’s a killer song indeed!”

About:
Bloody Hell was formed in the year 2000. Jaakko Halttunen and Marko Skou formed the band to cause confusion and fear in people who don’t understand what heavy metal is about. The band is all about playing heavy metal the way it was meant to be, which is loud, unapologetic, and obnoxious. Lyrical themes revolve around drinking, hangover, the devil, and other important matters.

Bloody Hell has released one full-length album before and toured around Finland and Russia. The band is known for their drunken wild shows where you can expect loud heavy metal music and a pretty decent show also.

Even though the band has been on hiatus sometimes it has always returned. In the past times, it was because angry young men wanted to play angry music. Now it’s grumpy old men wanting to play grumpy music. Now with the new release, the band is again delivering its trademark fashion-free, bullshit-free Heavy Metal music for the fans who enjoy Heavy Metal.

The members of Bloody Hell also all perform in Moottörin Jyrinä (a children’s heavy metal band that plays cover songs from classic 1980s heavy metal songs with child-friendly Finnish language lyrics with an educational tone). Guitarist Esa Orjatsalo and drummer Atte Marttinen play in the mighty Metal De Facto.

New Album “Ascendant Blasphemy” Out Feb 26th, 2021

Melded together in the vein of classic black metal, but giving nods to other genres including death, grind and doom, Toronto’s Plague Weaver has been honing their craft delicately since they started out in 2018. Beginning with an excellent atmosphere, and budding riff ideas on the self-titled EP, then taking a big leap in 2020 with “Through The Sulphur Eyes” with a doomy traditional black metal style. Now in 2021, with their first full length “Ascendant Blasphemy”, they have created three leaping bounds between releases, in both the music and the production. The band talks about the album:

“We take influence from a wide spectrum of genres. Black metal is definitely not the limit – we also look to death, grind, doom, and heavy metal, along with a plethora of non-metal genres. The only real common denominator is whether or not we like it! You can hear a huge death/grind influence in JC’s ‘black metal’ vocals, while RM’s riffing style is much more reminiscent of 1st wave black metal, especially Greek bands.”

“Ascendant Blasphemy” contains a lot of musical variety across the album, and still enough consistency to hold everything together, overall it is a pretty cold journey from start to finish. The album’s tracks are quite diverse in terms of tempo, and sonic tone. There are equal parts mid and fast-paced tracks, with a couple of slow, doomy ones near the end, to help bring everything to a close. This album confidently pulls the listener in a few choice directions. With confident composition, the instrumentals lay a framework for powerful, diverse, and seemingly uncontrolled vocals. The riff-driven style is bound to attract some death metal listeners in addition to BM heads looking for something grim to bang their heads to.

Fans can expect some of the novelty of any good black metal show with Plague Weaver. With the exception of the corpse paint, they check most of the boxes for any black metal favourite, with a few added flavours of our own. They are recommended for fans of (old) Samael, Varathron, and Watain.

The entirety of “Ascendant Blasphemy” will be revealed on February 26, 2021, and before it officially drops, Plague Weaver has teamed up with Decibel Magazine for its full stream premiere HERE.

About:

Plague Weaver is a black/doom metal band hailing from Ontario, Canada. The band was birthed in 2018 as a solo project by RM whom released two EPs, 2019’s self-titled debut and 2020’s ‘Through the Sulphur Eyes’. Both releases displayed traditional black metal roots delivered through a modern, doom-inspired atmosphere.

Joined in 2020 with the addition of new vocalist JC taking care of lyrics and vocal arrangments, Plague Weaver started its next chapter as a duo and quickly began work on creating punishing, grim, riff-driven black metal for the next assault entitled ‘Ascendant Blasphemy’. Set for release in 2021, their first full length is an evolution from its predecessors. More aggressive, and riff-driven but without abandoning Plague Weaver’s doom-inspired roots that can be heard on such tracks as ‘In Exitium Caeli’ and ‘..of Quivering Doves’. Overall, there’s a lot of musical variety across the new record, and a consistency to hold everything together, from start to finish. The album’s lyrics are a loose concept written by JC that follows a series of Satanic philosophies or questions considered from a Satanic perspective, illustrated to a loose fictional ideal. This album aims to invigorate and distress the listener.

“Ascendant Blasphemy” is due out February 26, 2021.

“Plague Weaver’s new single, “Nothing Is Sacred”, comes from the band’s upcoming release Ascendant Blasphemy. If there is any better song to help capture the feeling that everyone around the world has had through 2020, this is it. “Nothing Is Sacred” is a slow burn of death-doom, slow, grudging instrumentals entwined with harsh, raw black metal growls.” – Metal Injection

“Musically, the song (Deicidal Usurper) we’re presenting today changes course as if leading us through a cilling ancient labyrinth strewn with bones. After a somber, classically inspired piano overture, the music ignites in a storm of thundering drums, hurtling bass notes, and feverish riffing that creates a conjunction of menace and madness. In the midst of this marauding assault, a hellish choir lifts its harrowing, unhinged voices in a union of blood-curdling screams and voracious roars and howls. There are points at which the music turns corners, slowing in its grim assaults. In the first of those, the bass murmurs and eerie arpeggios ring out as a prelude to a kind of chilling, bone-shaking march. At the next, a serpentine guitar solo slithers from the darkness, creating an occult and hallucinatory vision in which misery dwells. And at the end, a harpsichord instrumental weaves a concluding mysterious spell.” – No Clean Singing

“Ascendant Blasphemy is a solid album for fans of largely mid-paced, compositionally adventurous black metal. It shows a lot of growth and maturity from the previous EPs and is well worth a listen.” – Metal Observer

“Ascendant Blasphemy is an exercise in churning Doom riffs mixed with blasting tremolo picking to establish a thick, sulphurous atmosphere of desolation and dread that’s not too far removed from a mix of Runemagick and Culted if you added in the occasional blast beat… Vocalist JC is also a real find, not only because his growls and snarls are venomous and spiteful, but also because he multitracks himself and writes the vocal lines for each track slightly out of sync with each other, which makes him sound like a chorus of hatred and despair that really stands out as a highlight of the album. If you’re looking for Black/Doom that’s as good as it gets, then start the year off right with this dragging nightmare of a debut.” – The Metal Crypt

“The songs have an epic and atmospheric character and despite its modernity, Ascendant Blasphemy will appeal easily to the orthodox Black metal fans.” – Jupiter Variations

Leading up to the release of their new EP “Dark Water” on March 26th, 2021, Edmonton, Canada’s metalcore squadron Juliet Ruin is sharing their new lyric video for the third single “Fake Stigmata” via its premiere on New Noise Magazine HERE.

Featuring infectious soft-spoken melodic vocals with whiplashing djent riffs, “Fake Stigmata” entices fans to sit back and brace themselves for an anthemic experience that the band is offering up on their forthcoming four-track EP to follow their highly praised 2019 album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos”.

The band comments:

“Fake Stigmata is our third and heaviest track from our Dark Water EP, it explores darker lyrical themes and grittier vocals and instrumentals.”

Juliet Ruin‘s new EP “Dark Water” represents a step into a heavier domain for the band as they continue on with low-tuned guitars. The vocals on this record will certainly shock old fans and draw in new fans as frontwoman Jess’s work in the scream vocal area is apparent throughout as she raised the bar on the clean vocals as well with many pop diva-esque techniques.

“The listening experience we are going for is a hard-edged, but catchy experience with lyrics you can shout in anger, but also it leans positive on message.” says the band.

The conception of the new recording was born out of the desire among the members to create a sound with what they consider the true lineup after having a current member miss out on the OSLAC album. Planning originally to just record one single for 2021 became a four-song EP as the ideas were just unceasing to them. This is the freshest possible material from the mind of Juliet Ruin with all songs written within a year. Fans familiar with the band’s sound on previous releases will notice the evolution in a heavier direction.

Juliet Ruin is recommended for anyone who enjoys heavy and melodic metal with powerful vocals, especially those who already have The Agonist, Jinjer, and Killswitch Engage in rotation.

“Dark Water” will be available on March 26, 2021.

“Every band needs to find that element which connects them with a fanbase, and Juliet Ruin has done that early on in their career.” – V13

“Pre-album single “Spite” that features a Sprite logo is also reminiscent of “Cloud Factory” era Jinjer with an excellent vocal range on show. Blending riffs seamlessly with gravity defying leaps between sub-genres from classic Metal to Hard Rock to Metalcore, it’s a nice twist on the conventional approach.” – Metal Noise

“If you are into Halestorm, Jinjer, Killswitch Engage you are gonna fall in love with this group not just a bit. But madly and deeply! Grab a hold of this gem of a release on the 6th of September you aint gonna regret it , cos Juliet Ruin aint gonna “Ruin” ya day they are gonna make it !! ” – The Metal Gods Meltdown

“From hardrock, to metalcore and everythign in between, Juliet Ruin delivers a fun and interesting record with many sounds, attitudes and emotions.” – Heavy New York

“Juliet Ruin’s sound is comparable to a muddier version of Alexisonfire, with Ruin guiding the songs with her powerful voice while being backed up by Geislinger’s harsh screams and growls…. Juliet Ruin has been gaining more recognition after every concert with its single “Rogue Down” receiving a nomination at the Edmonton Music Awards.” – Vue Weekly (2017)

Hailing from Oshawa, Canada, Maitreya is excited to announce their upcoming album “Hyper Reels” slated for a June 2021 release. They have just released the second single “Departed”, which is being premiered on TheProgSpace HERE.

This new album boasts a higher degree of musical complexity, filthy breakdowns and a wider range on the vocals ebbing from melodic cleans into sustained growls set to a whirlwind of complicated riffs. Maitreya comments on the single:

“Departed is the most complex and exploratory song on the record. It showcases an evolving and progressive song structure illustrating our signature bag of tricks; frenetic riffs, operatic layered vocals, crushing breakdowns, and dense textures. Lyrically the song borrows concepts from AI fiction (Westworld, The Matrix and Blade Runner) that explore the nature of consciousness, intelligence, and reincarnation.”

Not for the faint of heart, Maitreya’s music is a heavily layered listening experience, a cacophony of styles, merging together to create an intense wall of sound that forces you to pay attention to all the subliminal notes and tempo changes.

The album as a whole was put under a microscope during its creation, forcing Maitreya to refine every element and mature past their previous releases. It shows vastly improved musicianship that will only continue to grow as the band forges onward in their career.

A barrage of complexity intertwined with melody awaits fans, especially those who have an interest in The Contortionist, Between the Buried and Me, and Protest the Hero.

The full album “Hyper Reels” is out on June 25, 2021.

“We’re always on the hunt for interesting new metal bands, and Canada’s Maitreya certainly qualifies. The band’s newest single, “Catalyst”, treads familiar progressive metal territory – think vocals similar to Leprous and instrumentation akin to older BTBAM – but rest assured it sounds fresh.” – New Fury Media

“Their musical abilities were astounding, and I believe they could have been each individually the most technically capable with their instruments of those performing that night.” – Metal Master Kingdom

“Lead-heavy, yet at the same time musically complex, Maitreya’s music is sonic baptism, taking the listener from the fire pits to the icy peaks. The band’s self-titled album weaves an intricate melodic narrative, where both headbanging metal-heavy riffs and reflective vocal lines co-exist in the vortex of sonic alchemy, presented to the listener in its raw, unfiltered elemental form.” – Dentata Music
