EPK – Aquila – The Great Fire (2022)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“This is our best material to date. It’s brutal, heavy and catchy and it’s a rollercoaster ride. It has the Aquila sound still with some added influences to it. We have matured as people and as songwriters during this time of the pandemic. To be honest, this EP saved us from going crazy during these troubled times. It helped us stay focused and motivated through it all. I hope people give it a listen, we are metal fans and metal lovers. I’ve been in metal bands since 1999 and I’m, I mean, WE are so proud of this EP.” – Mark Arruda – Vocals – Aquila

For fans of Kataklysm, God Forbid, Gojira

“Aquila strikes that excellent balance between aggression, heaviness, and constructing memorable earworms that keeps up listener engagement. The Great Fire embodies an ideal melodeath metalcore product – ready to take the band up from the underground into making worldwide impressions with their music.” – Dead Rhetoric (2022)

“There are plenty of great guitar solos and fills on this album, with the ones in ‘Bound For Glory’ and ‘Within These Flames’ especially standing out…. Aquila’s “Imperium” brings the fury back to metalcore, creating an album full of aggressive vocals and face-melting riffs and solos. “Imperium” is a mostly great debut from a band that’s hopefully on its way to even greater heights.” – Metal Underground (2010)

“A notable difference between Aquila and other Southern Ontario bands is that they thrash throughout their songs, have great guitar leads and refrain from plastering breakdowns throughout their music. They keep it raw and interesting…. Everyone should pick up a copy of Imperium next time Aquila comes to your town. Fans of Assassinate The Following, Unearth, Bloodshoteye and Odium will headbang to Aquila. This band will be legend… Wait for it…. dary.” – V13 (2011)

=======================================================

The EP as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Musically and lryicially this is the most brutal and progressive material we have ever written. I can honestly say we brought the METAL into METALcore again with this EP. The whole concept of the EP is about Roaman Emperor Nero who is famous for killing Christians and The Great Fire of Rome. This is my view of what happened at that time. I performed from my perspective of being Nero for these songs and how I felt doing these evil things to the people of Rome. It caused some arguments within the band.

Track by Track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Track 1 – The Great Fire

The Great Fire starts off slow and then it explodes.  It is our traditional straightforward in-your-face track with a Power Trip style breakdown in the middle of the song. The lyrics are about Nero causing the fire and that he wanted it to happen. There is artwork of Nero playing the flute while the fire was happening.

Track 2 – Emperor’s Curse

This song starts off brutal and it is a rollercoaster of a track.  It starts off brutal and in the middle you travel into this Tool like drumming and guitars with a catchy hook at the end of the song. Lyrics are very brutal from beheading and crucifying Christian to Nero taking his own life.  This song is the most progressive song we have ever written, it was inspired by our own song, Bound For Glory, from our debut album Imperium.

Track 3 – A City Risen

The lyrics for this are about what Nero is thinking before he takes his life or even after his death.  He had some great ideas and he had a vision, but he was also a sick man. The songs through a slower but heavier pace with many hooks.  I think it’s my best vocal performance ever.  I used my singing range for this one, not just straight death metal vocals for this one.

Track 4 – The Plague of Galen

Back in late 2019, McGuire and I started talking and we asked ourselves, wouldn’t it be cool to jam together again?  So we did.  With the pandemic happening in 2020, we were in the middle of writing a song which is now The Plague of Galen.  A plague that happened in Rome many years ago. We thought it was fitting.  The song has a melodic death metal feel to it that you can headbang to.  The breakdown in the middle is crushing, ending with Iron Maiden-type guitar playing.

=======================================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Mark Arruda and Matt McGuire played in Bloodshoteye. But not at the same time. Arruda was the vocalist in the early days and McGuire played drums in 2004.

2. Chase Bryant played bass on Imperium and is now the bassist for Warbringer

3. Glenn Fricker recorded, mixed and mastered our debut album Imperium.

4. Anthony Rimac, Matt McGuire and Mark Arruda are still the original members from 2006

Aquila is a Canadian metalcore band from Hamilton Ontario.  The roots of their sound are from the early 2000s metal scene.

They started in 2006 with Matt McGuire (drums) and Anthony Rimac (guitarist) in Windsor Ontario. In 2009, Aquila entered the studio with Chase Bryant (current bassist for Warbringer), Matt Shelson (guitarist), and Mark Arruda (vocalist) and began working on their debut album, Imperium, with Glenn Fricker in Windsor, Ontario. From 2009 to 2013, they toured for their album across Canada, including a lengthy east and west coast tour, and multiple weekly shows in Ontario. Sharing the stage with the likes of Cryptopsy, The Agonist, Misery Index, Threat Signal, and many more, Aquila with their aggressive stage attitude can sure entertain and work the crowd.

In 2020, Aquila released 2 Eps, Valle Mortalitatis and Jewel of the Empire’s Crown. The 7 songs were recorded back in 2013 with Glenn Fricker, but were never released at that time.

Now with new guitarist Tony Medina and bassist Colin Wakil, Aquila worked hard to release a new EP called The Great Fire in 2022. The 4 songs were written, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Aquila.  A video for the title track, The Great Fire, was recorded by the band as well.

“We started writing for this EP in 2020.  The pandemic made it very difficult to get together. We also had to find a new guitarist. Once Tony joined the band he quickly learned the songs and started helping us record and mix ourselves. No pressure, just us in our element. I think the growth and maturity in our sound on this Ep. is obvious. This Ep is us, brutal and in your face.” – Mark Arruda – Aquila

Aquila’s latest EP “The Great Fire” was released on June 30th, 2022, and is available on all digital platforms.

0 The Circle Pit Presents Video For NAMELESS KING’s Dark Souls Inspired “Amalgamated Kin”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 10, 2022

The Circle Pit Presents Video For NAMELESS KING’s Dark Souls Inspired “Amalgamated Kin”

Inspired by the trials and tribulation that can only be found in the Kingdom of Lothric, Vancouver’s Nameless King spin trashy, melodic tales about the people and places of Dark Souls 3. Back in March, they released their debut EP “Order of the Black Flame” and now a video is ready for this track “Amalgamated Kin”.

The EP is a fast, in-your-face collection of four songs that are dynamic with many tempo changes and contain elements from different subgenres including melodic death metal, thrash metal, and even hints of prog, black, and deathcore. The track tells the story of one of the bosses featured in the game – a horrific beast-like creature, Oceiros, the Consumed King. Musically, it re-enacts the dramatic and frantic fight that ensues with the player – it’s mostly pure melodic death, accented with a very black metal chorus along with a hardcore two-step feel to the solo section. The band explains the EP in their own words:

“With this EP we really wanted to set the best first impression possible with quality production and songwriting that wouldn’t feel out of place in a playlist with staple bands of the genre. We feel that even though it’s still early in the band’s life, we’ve already managed to carve out a sound that perfectly describes our identity and what we want to get out of creating music. It’s a perfect sum of all our different influences and the direction we want the band to keep going in. The response from people so far has been far beyond what we expected, and we don’t intend to ever stop that momentum.”

So far the reception to “Order of the Black Flame” has blown away Nameless King. They have new songs in the works with more of the same style of heavy riffs, along with a bit more focus on melodic and hardcore elements. They are certain that fans of the first EP will love the new material when it comes out.

The EP was produced, mixed, and mastered by Jeff Black and its artwork was done by aleh_z.

Nameless King delivers trashy melodeath with occasional breakdowns that complement the horror themes throughout. They are recommended listening for fans of At The Gates, Mors Principium Est, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

The video for “Amalgamated Kin” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit – https://youtu.be/hz1JMTlkqGo

Thalassophobia – the persistent and intense fear of deep bodies of water such as the ocean. The feeling of something underneath you, that you can’t see. The exact feeling that Eaten By Sharks channel in their new album “Eradication” and especially so in the latest single “Depth Charge”. Along with that sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, you can also expect shredding riffs, slick grooves, and intense vocals, particularly at the end.

Through the single, the listener is thrust into a first-person view of the horrors of a shark attack. Being dragged down into what could be the mouth of hell. Escape is not possible. All hope fades as the light from the surface disappears leaving you with nothing but a broken shell of a body, until even that gets devoured. The band elaborates:

“’Depth Charge’ eases you into the water with a groovy riff, led by the rhythm section, however, when the vocals kick in, it’s well worth the wait! The instrumental background is filled with whammy tricks and sweep picks, held together with some two-step and slick double-kicking beats. Matt has a very razor-toothed approach to the vocals, switching up styles and phrasing. Again, all the good stuff is saved up till the end, he lays down a sick death rap, channeling a serial killer type of cadence when sawing apart mountains of dead bodies. We had to pay the lyric video guys twice as much because they dislocated their fingers typing out the savagery.”

This is the third of three singles being released ahead of the album and together they form a very complete picture of what listeners can expect in this first-person horror experience. Along with their brand of technical death metal, Eaten By Sharks channel their love for horror movies into their nautical themes. They also cite a strong appreciation for sharks and their amazing nature, adaptability, and maintenance of natural equilibrium. Nature isn’t always nice and they like to celebrate the wickedness.

Eaten By Sharks is recommended listening for fans of Revocation, Gojira, and Despised Icon.

“Shit, did they put on a solid show and constantly required crowd interaction. They seamlessly blended classic and modern death metal with some technical flare here and there. I was thoroughly impressed with this awesome band, and can only add another solid band to the ever-growing laundry list of opening bands that may or may hit hit the spot…..and Eaten By Sharks fucking shredded!” – Technical Music Review (Live Review – Eaten By Sharks Opening for First Fragment – St. Catharines, ON -12-2-18)

“They groove a ton, with some sweet guitar licks for good measure to keep your ears engaged. They’re a mix of classic and new death metal, and just as ferocious.” – Technical Music Review

0 Quebec City’s UPON YOUR GRAVE Announce Blistering New EP “Gold & Decay” And Single “Supremacy”

Quebec City’s UPON YOUR GRAVE Announce Blistering New EP “Gold & Decay” And Single “Supremacy”

L-R – Yan Pelletier (Bass), Sim Diamond (Lead Guitar), Jordan Jolicoeur (Vocals), Sebastien Gagne (Drums), Alex Bussieres (Rhythm Guitar)

Upon Your Grave is a death metal band from Quebec City, Canada that spin wicked tales set to harsh, fast, and infectious music. They have joined forces with heavyweight producer Christian Donaldson from Cryptopsy to ensure that this offering delivers nothing but brutality. The first single “Supremacy” is an ode to things returning to normal, people getting back on stage, people getting back in the pit. Vocalist Jordan Jolicoeur explains in further detail:

“This song symbolizes the death and rebirth of live shows caused by the pandemic. Shining a glimmer of light that attracts us to reunite and prepare for the return in music that binds us together: a united pack. It’s fast-paced and effective with an awesome chorus that we love. It’s an energetic song that really shines live and one of the first songs we created since we revived the band from the dead. It may cause some heavy headbangs.”

Over the course of five tracks spanning under twenty minutes, main composer/guitarist Sim Diamond (Finalist of Banger TV’s Shredders of Metal Season 1 – https://youtu.be/smraNlKUdcU?t=265) gets straight to the point with a wicked whirlwind of riffs, he conspires with Jolicoeur afterward to add the lyrics and the rest of the band fleshes out an impressive golem of aggressive death metal.

Upon Your Grave got together in 2009 and released their first single “Haunting of the Beast” in 2011, since then they have come a long way from just being five teens, jamming in their parent’s garage wanting to make their own band and create songs. They wanted to live the dream, create a kickass metal band, play shows, party, record albums, and do it all like their faves do it. They have continuously poured energy, and passion into the band, emerging with musicianship and chemistry, evident on “Gold & Decay”.

A total running time of 18 minutes delivers an intense and succinct battery of blast beats that will grab the listener and refuse to let go. The record was mixed and mastered by Donaldson and the EP artwork was done by Meike Hakkaart. It is recommended listening for fans of Decapitated, Lamb Of God, and Daath.

About:
Established in 2009, Quebec, Canada-based death metal act, Upon Your Grave, is finally back swinging.

In 2019, at the dawn of the band’s 10th anniversary, Sim Diamond, Alex Bussieres and Jordan Jolicoeur grasped the opportunity given by the lockdown to start writing and rehearsing for a new album. This is their first effort since the Eponym debut album back in 2013. During their time away from Upon Your Grave, each member stayed active by releasing albums with other projects like Vibrant Heels and Universal Minds. Lead guitarist Sim Diamond also got to be part of Sam Dunn’s Shredders of Metal season 1 and made it all the way to the finals in Toronto. Now adding two new members to the mix, Sebastien Gagné on drums and Yan Pelletier on bass, two good friends from the local band Scars Of Disgrace, the band had found their perfect lineup to go forward.

With the help of a successful GoFundMe campaign, the band was able to go record a new EP with Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy in March of 2022. this collaboration was the perfect fit that would elevate their performances to a more genuine and aggressive sound. Incorporating crushing vocals blended with catchy melodies, bad-ass guitar riffs and memorable solos that remind us of bands such as Daath, Lamb of God, Sylosis and even All Shall Perish.

Gold & Decay proves that work ethic and perseverance can truly refine a band’s sound to what they had always been striving for. This new release will be a fresh start for great things to come and is only the beginning of a flourishing career.

“UPON YOUR GRAVE has a lot of energy to extinguish throughout their debut, it consists of great ideas and musical diversities. The band’s passion for traditional Melodic Death Metal is noticed and felt, yet their combination of Rock and progression really benefited their efforts even more. This one is highly recommended, get ready to bang your heard.” – Metal Temple

“If you can stomach the screams then you’ll find yourself listening to an album from a band who pack plenty of punch. The songs are full of beef, easy to get into, and work well for loosening those neck muscles. Whether this album wins or loses though, rests simply on how much of an assault your eardrums can take.” – V13

“Eponym donne accès à un énorme buffet de epic guitar, solo bien garni, accompagné de rythme franc, de quoi conquérir les fans de: Children of Bodom, In Flames et Trivium.” – Ondes Chocs

0 L.A.’s NEXT DOOR TO HEAVEN Release Music Video For Emotional Metalcore Track “Disguise”

  • August 9, 2022

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 9, 2022

L.A.’s NEXT DOOR TO HEAVEN Release Music Video For Emotional Metalcore Track “Disguise”

L.A.’s Next Door To Heaven is a potent metalcore combo that brings vulnerability, strength, and focuses to another level of melodic and heavy music. To date, they have released two full-length albums and an EP and their latest offering is a music video for the new song “Disguise”.

According to vocalist Daria Mazunova, this track has more extreme vocals compared to their previous material, and she kept that in mind when writing the lyrics. Very honest and straightforward, Mazunova jokes that it’s a bit simpler than their regular stuff, but not for drummers, she continues to explain the track:

“Our new track “Disguise”, yet unreleased, inspired us to make a music video for it. It’s rare when all your thoughts at the moment can be put together into music and lyrics this well. It is about the process of finding out who’s a friend, and who’s a foe. It’s a way to look at the people you thought you knew and understand what has changed. For sure, this song and video are going to be released in due time therefore should be well received by fans.”

The band is in the process of recording and mixing an EP and “Disguise” will become a part of it. In most cases for them, music comes first, followed by the lyrics. In the case of this song, the mood came first and the rest followed.

A truly international band, partners Mazunova and Evgenii “Gene” Mazunov (guitar/vocals) come from Russia and have been playing music for years. Once they relocated to California, where they are based now, they met up with Mexican bassist Jorge Romo and local drummer Michael Moore.

Together the four of them have been amazing audiences in Los Angeles and other parts of the country showing off their eclectic mix of metalcore that is recommended for fans of Tesseract, Periphery, and Novelists.

Canadian NWOTHM IRON KINGDOM Posts Teaser + Launch Pre-Order For Fifth Album “The Blood of Creation”

Vancouver, Canada’s IRON KINGDOM is returning in 2022 with their fifth studio album “The Blood of Creation” to follow 2019’s highly praised “On The Hunt”, which took the band to new heights with tours across Canada, the USA, and Europe along with topping the Canadian loud radio charts at #5 (Earshot) and compliments such as “a glorious gallop of foot on the monitor, traditional heavy metal that will have NWOBHM fans drooling. 9/10” – Metal Gods TV and “40 minutes of enjoyable no-frills classic metal.” – Angry Metal Guy.

“The Blood of Creation” continues the reign of classic heavy metal that Iron Kingdom has been presenting over the years to music lovers of the style along with keeping the flame burning for a new generation.

“We wanted to create music in a style of metal that seemed to have been forgotten when we were kids. Since no one else seemed to be doing it, we decided to play metal the way it used to be played in the 70s and 80s. That was the reason for forming Iron Kingdom. Essentially, we wanted to give people an exciting show like an early Iron Maiden, Scorpions, or Saxon show from the 1980s.” recalls guitarist/vocalist Chris Osterman on the beginnings of the band.

Iron Kingdom has come a long way since their 2011 debut “Curse Of The Voodoo Queen” and their next offering is a potent full force of classic shredding heavy metal thunder and will take fans into some unique fantastic worlds they may or may not have experienced, but will also show a dark side of storytelling.

“I think we started as a bit more of a hard rock band on the first record, taking a progressive metal dive for Gates Of Eternity and Ride For Glory, then for On The Hunt, I’d say we went fully classic metal, leading into this new record being a pretty solid mix of all those styles combined. We also came out of the pandemic, which brought some darker emotions some people may have never experienced previously that I think this album may parallel. In the end though, we want people to get the chance to escape this world for a time and find solace in the music.” adds Osterman.

The new album also sees new drummer Max Friesen (ex-Ophelia Falling) making his recording debut with the band to add another angle to their songwriting for this release. The album was self-produced by Iron Kingdom with mixing done by Andy Boldt and mastering by Greg Reely (Overkill, Fear Factory, 3 Inches of Blood).

About: Inspired by legendary pillars of heavy metal such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, and Rush, this four-piece is well known for their energetic and electrifying stage presence, as well as intricate musical melodies that bring listeners back to a time when heavy metal was in its prime.

Formed in Surrey, B.C. Canada, in June of 2011, the band’s core members were Chris Osterman on guitar and vocals, bassist Leighton Holmes, and drummer Amanda Osterman, joined by Jordan Wright on guitar. This quickly changed, after recording their debut album ‘Curse Of The Voodoo Queen’ Jordan was replaced by guitarist Kenny Kroecher. ‘Curse Of The Voodoo Queen’ was released on Dec 14, 2011, and the band took the opportunity to tour western Canada, along with an appearance on the TV Show, Canada’s Got Talent.

With the debut album receiving little attention, the group decided it was time to record a new album, and by April 26, 2013, ‘Gates Of Eternity’ was released. Garnering some strong reviews coming in around the world, attention was growing, and the band was invited to perform at Germany’s Keep It True XVII festival. This opened up many new avenues for the act to pursue, including some serious time on the road through Canada in 2013, and Europe in 2014, followed by a tour in the USA with California’s Night Demon. The band had created some major momentum and Iron Kingdom was spreading their moniker far and wide in support of the first two releases.

On July 30, 2015, Iron Kingdom released not one, but two more albums, ‘Ride For Glory’ their 3rd full-length album, as well as ‘Unleashed at the Kraken (Live in Seattle)’ an exclusive live E.P. recorded on a previous tour. The band set out on the road again in support of the two new releases. The tour was unfortunately riddled with many trials, including a vehicle accident that almost killed the band members. Following the tour, Amanda decided to step back from the band to pursue other commitments. Joey Paul then took her place behind the kit.

Life on the road continued, including a massive North American tour in 2016, as well as a tour in Brazil in a supporting slot for former frontman of Iron Maiden, Blaze Bayley. After many performances, guitarist Kenny and drummer Joey departed, thus leaving the door open for Chris Sonea, and Megan Merrick, on drums and guitar respectively.

It took four years for the follow-up album after ‘Ride For Glory’, but finally on Oct 4, 2019, ‘On The Hunt’ was released. This was the fourth full-length release from this traditional metal act. Iron Kingdom toured ‘On The Hunt’ immediately with an extensive North American tour in the fall of 2019, and shortly after, toured Europe in March of 2020. Thankfully the band was able to perform the majority of their European dates, but unfortunately, COVID-19 took its toll and their final performance was canceled. At the return of the tour, drummer Chris Sonea decided to depart from the group, and the band (now consisting of band members, Leighton Holmes, Chris Osterman, and Megan Merrick) began auditions to fill the void on the drums.

In the Spring of 2020, Max Friesen joined the band, taking his seat behind the kit, and once again, Iron Kingdom stands ready to take the world by storm and aid in the revival of the mighty and classic sounds of Traditional Heavy Metal. Their new album “The Blood of Creation” is scheduled to be released in Fall 2022.

#5 (On The Hunt) Canadian National Loud Chart – For the Week Ending: Tuesday, November 12, 2019 (earshot)

“a glorious gallop of foot on the monitor, traditional heavy metal that will have NWOBHM fans drooling. 9/10” – Metal Gods TV

“It’s a pleasure when you have the chance to listening to bands such as IRON KINGDOM, true defenders of best tradition of our loved music. 88/100” – Hard Rock Heavy Metal

“One of Western Canada’s finest exports is traditional heavy metal band Iron Kingdom… another solid effort proving why Canada is by far the best country for modern traditional heavy metal!” – Skull Fracturing Metal

“With On The Hunt, you can expect Iron Kingdom’s traditional heavy metal. They make no apologies for invoking legends like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, et al, for metal inspiration. Not dismissing the excellent rhythm section, but with the twin guitar attack of Osterman and Merrick, you’ll find all the songs within On The Hunt quite guitar-forward… Essentially, with this album, Iron Kingdom remains true to their metal style. 4/5” – DangerDog Music Reviews

“Of the hundreds of heavy metal bands that have “Iron” in their name, not very many of them are deserving of it. Iron Maiden? Obviously. Iron Savior? Yup. Iron Fire? Definitely. Of course, Iron Kingdom are undoubtedly deserving of the mark, because the metal they’ve forged is strong, heavy, and true. 9/10” – Power Thorn

“Holy Shit! Have you heard Iron Kingdom’s On the Hunt? If you haven’t you are missing out on one of the coolest album’s of 2019.” – 10/10 Keeper Magazine

TYRANTS OF CHAOS Shares Their Judas Priest Inspired “Slay The Hostages”

New Album “Relentless Thirst for Power” Out Aug 19th

Lethbridge, Canada’s Tyrants of Chaos have been pillaging across Alberta with their old-school classic heavy metal and are now amping up the ante with 10 new bangers on their third studio album “Relentless Thirst for Power” set to be unleashed this coming August.

Earlier this July, they shared their first single “T.O.C.” and are ready to share their second track off the record to preview to fans. Entitled “Slay the Hostages”, Tyrants of Chaos present a Judas Priest style, ear piercing, balls-out metal assault. Lyrically similar to “T.O.C.”, “Slay the Hostages” sounds like a song about committing crimes and sacrifices, but it is simply about playing metal shows and entertaining the crowd as can be witnessed in the music video for the single via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

Tyrants of Chaos‘ new album “Relentless Thirst For Power” covers a lot of topics lyrically, listeners will be able to dive into songs such as the classic Teutonic power metal track “Indoctri-Nation”, which focuses on mental health issues to the “No Lives Matter” ballad that forces one to confront their mortality; and the classic “Lucky Dog” that is reminiscent of the 80s sounds of the Big 4.

Formed in 2013 for the love and passion of music by guitarist Curtiss Vaselenak and to fill a gap in the local scene, the band originally started as a fun hard rock and metal cover band. After some shuffling, he is now joined by guitarist Arik Wagner, bassist Sean Simpson, drummer Ryan Dyck, and vocalist Phil Sirias who complete the current lineup. With many years of experience between them, they bring professionalism and solid musicianship to both the stage and the studio.

Tyrants of Chaos already have two albums under their belts, “The Calm Before The Storm” (2016) and “Into Oblivion” (2019), and this new offering consists of ten fist-pumping, head-banging tracks that were written specifically for this album. It is just scratching the surface of what the band has in store, they don’t intend to slow down anytime soon.

Heavy and loud, Tyrants Of Chaos delivers a solid pummeling of pure heavy metal. No gimmicks, no gags, just passion, and honesty. They are recommended listening for fans of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth.

The album “Relentless Thirst For Power” will be out on August 19, 2022.

Gerald Peter Project Shares Behind The Scenes Documentary For New Album “Incremental Changes, Pt. 2”

Album Guests Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Julie Elven, Martin Miller

This past June, Vienna’s Gerald Peter of Gerald Peter Project shared his latest creation “Incremental Changes, Pt. 2” via Austrian label via GRIDMusic to follow his 2017 debut “Incremental Changes, Pt. 1”. A talented composer, keyboardist, and seaboard player, Gerald Peter Project conjures creative movements to take hold of a listener and catapult them into an imaginative musical journey.

“Incremental Changes, Pt. 2” are ten more exquisite themed tracks that feature versatile drummer Aaron Thier, Dream Theater keyboard virtuoso Jordan Rudess, and the award-winning soundtrack vocalist Julie Elven (singer on Horizon Zero Dawn, World of Warcraft OST), and the high-skilled guitarist Martin Miller. Gerald explains the album in his own words:

“It has been a huge journey, musically and in life to make this record happen. This is my best solo work so far, so I hope you enjoy listening. The best experience I think you will get with headphones and listening all the way through and maybe even close your eyes while listening. The music/composition is inspired by changes in my life, that is the reason for the album title as well and I spent endless hours in sound design, composition, and practicing for this record, so I hope you can appreciate this piece of art in all its facets.”

To examine his songwriting, sound construction, and concepts deeper, Gerald Peter is sharing with fans a behind-the-scenes documentary about his process for his latest recording.

“I want to give listeners of my music the opportunity to look back behind the scenes and let them know why and how I came up with this project and album. I also want to show some musical highlights and introduce musicians I collaborated with and talk about the meaning of my album,” adds Gerald.

BIO

Gerald Peter Project is a crossover genre transcending music project starring Gerald Peter as the keyboard / seaboard player accompanied by the versatile drummer Aaron Thier. Gerald leads through a musical story with his ongoing compositions by combining different elements of prog rock, neoclassical, jazz, cinematic and electronic music.

Gerald Peter founded the project in 2014 as an creative outlet when he was a working musician on a cruise ship playing dance and party music everyday. The creative outlet continued when he was working for ROLI as a Seaboard product specialist in 2015 & 2016. He collected many musical ideas over many years by improvising on the piano and seaboard, inspired by his favourite artists over a variety of genres (but mainly prog) and inspired by gradual and drastic shifts in his life (incremental changes). After having a huge amount of music material, he thought it would be a good idea to compose, based on that material, some concert music being able to record, produce and perform his own music without the need of an entire band around him which was at this point in this life impossible to have because of ongoing traveling.

In the beginning it was an entire solo project consisting of only Gerald on the keyboard/seaboard and a backing track which was created by himself. But after many living room concerts during the demo phase of his project he decided to bring the project to the next level and add some live drums. He asked his former band mate Aaron Thier from Circle of Illusion, who was a great fit for the project and music. They recorded the digital EP & Incremental Changes, Pt. 1 in 2016 together as a live video shoot recording in Vienna, which was released on YouTube and Bandcamp in 2017. In the years from 2017 – 2019 several live shows has taken place in many different locations, e.g. in Vienna, Nuremberg, Toronto, Budapest and in Anaheim, California at the NAMM show 2019. In 2019 Gerald Peter Project released two new performance videos and singles “Enigma” and “Flow” which are both part of the current album “Incremental Changes, Pt. 2”.

GERALD PETER PROJECT incorporates self-made instrument reactive visuals at its live shows, which are created by a MIDI visualiser program Gerald developed by himself. Gerald was working as programmer in his 20s and has a degree in media informatics. Some of his visuals can be seen in the music video of “Flow” which was shot in the 8K projection room “deep space” in Linz, Austria and during live concerts.

Gerald Peter, born in 1986, is a composer, producer and keyboardist from Vienna who has already worked for Jordan Rudess Music as a co-composer (for the albums “Rockestra” & “Heartfelt”), for Cirque Du Soleil as a touring show-band musician and for ROLI as an international seaboard specialist and demonstrator. Gerald Peter has previously released albums with his bands Circle of Illusion and Inspirational Corner as well.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – August 4, 2022

TONIC BREED’s New Era Begins w/ H.E. Antagonist ft. Oliver Palotai (Kamelot) Off New EP “Fuel The Fire”

New EP “Fuel The Fire” Out Now! ft. guests from Megadeth, Soilwork, Kamelot and more!

Norway’s Tonic Breed has started a new journey from a full-on band to now a one-man thrash army led by founding member Patrik K. Svendsen. The first song that was written for its new era and on its recently released EP “Fuel The Fire” is entitled “H.E. Antagonist”, which features Oliver Palotai of Kamelot not only performing a guest guitar solo on the track, but also sees him behind the soundboard taking care of mixing and mastering duties for the song.

Today, Tonic Breed shares their music video for the song, which can be heard and seen at https://youtu.be/fe-iiWh5VUs

“A little more melodic from other recordings on the EP, but still a heavy song, I recommend giving this a listen!” adds Svendsen.

Since first forming in 2006, Tonic Breed operated as a full contingent with tons of experience in the European metal community. Following the release of their 2018 album “Install Memory” and after 13 years of moshing, the band members decided to part ways in 2019 with Patrik K. Svendsen taking the reins to reinvent the band for its next release, the EP entitled “Fuel The Fire” that includes guest appearances from Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Bernt Jansen (Artch/Wig Wam), Björn Strid (Soilwork), Martin Skriubakken (Endezzma) and Oliver Palotai (Kamelot).

Tonic Breed‘s latest EP “Fuel the Fire” is raw, energetic hard-hitting thrash, with melodic and groovy elements. The record is four songs all composed by Svendsen, each with their unique touch and sound. The EP will not disappoint the Tonic Breed fanbase, the songs are similar to the styling of past TB recordings, but with new enlightening elements such as EP closing track “Blood Moon”, a melodic piece demonstrating some experimental songwriting from Svendsen.

The songs were recorded over 18 months with multiple sound engineers from different countries, along with various guest musicians. Svendsen explains in further detail the decision on continuing as a one-man band and putting out the EP:

“The re-branding of Tonic Breed came to life after the lineup was divided. All the other previous band members started their new band projects, but I had not that same momentum going on at the time. I did not then, or have never since, considered making this a full band again to play live shows with Tonic Breed. At the same time, I had a couple of unfinished songs I wanted to finish. So after a little while, I started to take action and continue my musical path as well. The songs I worked with then were meant for a new project. Every now and then on this journey, I did consider officially ending Tonic Breed with a statement to our fans from time to time. You know, instead of just silently fading away. So while this was happening in one part of my brain, I thrived forward with my songs in another. I experimented with different images and styles of music (within the metal genre). Eventually, I also came up with the idea of having guests onboard. But instead of creating something new, I restarted something old. Small details made me choose this path.”

Tonic Breed‘s new EP “Fuel the Fire” is available on all digital platforms including Spotify and Apple Music.
