Canadian thrashers Korrosive announce they will be unleashing CDs, cassettes and vinyl of their latest album “Toxic Apokalypse” via CDN Records. CDs will be due out on November 18th, with cassettes and vinyl for release in 2023 (release to be announced at a later date). The full-length was released digitally on October 7th of this year.

Korrosive is from Toronto, ON that is in your face, unapologetic, and is definitely one that offers a high-octane headbanging experience, unlike anything you’ve heard before as they explore and push the boundaries of thrash metal with extreme influences.

“We want to be a thrash metal band that combines the elements of thrash in its roots, but also breaks down walls by incorporating various influences from grind and death, or whatever comes to mind to mix it up.” says vocalist Rad Zarei.

Their new album “Toxic Apokalypse” follows their first full-length 2021’s “Kaustic Hordes” and the 2019 EP “Melting from Within”. Featuring eight assaulting bangers, each song on the album is quite different in a way from each other, and yet, still uniquely Korrosive. They push each track with speed and extremity, from ‘Fatal Strike’ that has a ton of blast beats and solos, yet is still unmistakably thrash, to ‘Radioaktive Scourge’, filled with pure aggression, unlike anything they’ve released before. From its speed, the lyrics, and the sheer intensity, this song may be the shortest track on the record, but makes the largest impact and it’s over before you know it. And also strongly recommended is ‘Hail the Hellfire’, perhaps the band’s anthem to the entire “Toxic Apokalypse” album. Written as a reflection of the period when the full-length was being composed, this track discusses the brutality of war and the end result of each and every individual involved in its cause, regardless of side.

The band adds:

“Diabolical, fast, unforgiving armageddon. From slow passages, mid-tempo bangers, hyper-fast blast beats, and the occasional odd-time signature, it’s a ride in extreme thrash unlike anything before. Toxic Apokalypse is an album that will hit you hard, fast, and leave you with a ‘what the f*ck just happened?’ feeling.”

Lyrically, the music sets the overall tone for how the lyrics are written and substance. Songs deal with topics of science fiction, armageddon, and “what if” scenarios. The album art was created by the infamous Ed Repka (Dark Angel, Death, Hirax, Megadeth, Suicidal Angels, Venom).

“Typically, the way we write songs is to have each song done or be in the middle of the writing process, and I would create something out of that. It is rare for us that lyrics get written first before the song is made,” adds Zarei.

One thing that the mosh pit can always expect from Korrosive is the energy they bring to their shows.

“I always think of a show, regardless of venue, as a performance that is meant to capture the crowd. And as a band, Korrosive always exudes that level of intensity during our shows.”

Recommended for fans of Sodom, Kreator, Death, and Sepultura, “Toxic Apokalypse” was produced by Ben Erikson with mastering done by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Kreator, Cro-Mags, Municipal Waste, Soulfly).

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC- November 9, 2022

Canada’s RED CAIN Pay Homage To Wheel Of Time With Music Video For Commanding New Single “Fisher King”

L to R: Samuel Ridout (guitar), Tyler Corbett (guitar), Evgeniy Zayarny (vocals), Kalie Yan (bass, vocals), Taylor Gibson (drums)

Red Cain, from Calgary, Canada is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. They have been making waves since their first release in 2016, with award-winning concept albums and music videos. The next chapter in their ongoing saga is a music video for the single “Fisher King” that conceptually takes place in the universe of the legendary Wheel of Time fantasy series. It comes off a yet-to-be-titled album that is expected sometime next year. The band comments on the single:

“’Fisher King’, was written in its original form over 10 years ago, long before Red Cain’s existence as a band – so it was an extremely cool experience to go back to this old track, rewrite, and revitalize it to fit our sound. Much like our upcoming album, “Fisher King” keeps the quintessential Red Cain “melancholy and rage” but takes the death metal influences from “Kindred: Act II” even further, featuring a huge growl-centric chorus, a variety of down tuned, sludgy riffs, and gripping, raw vocal hooks and melodies.”

Red Cain’s first two full albums, “Kindred: Act I” and “Kindred: Act II” conceptually told a sprawling story of how raw and primal ancient myth collides with modern society and human yearning toward the stars, toward perfection. The albums contained a ton of genre inspirations, from gothic rock to ambient electronica, power, black, and death metal, and were universally lauded for their inventiveness, variety, and strong conceptual content. They continue this momentum with their upcoming release.

“Fisher King” is unsettling, bombastic, and unrelenting, this track showcases a musical and lyrical contest of wills between the “Chosen One” archetype, and his antithetical, flawed, yet lethal opponent caught in his unrelenting march. It is recommended for fans of Kamelot, Mastodon, and Powerwolf.

Watch and listen to “Fisher King” via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

About:

Melancholy and Rage

Born out of the vast prairies and snowy peaks of Alberta, Canada, Red Cain is a modern progressive metal project with Eastern European roots. With intricate songwriting, powerful vocals, eerie soundscapes, and strong electronic-backed groove, Red Cain champion a fluid, dynamic, and unique style centered around telling dark, conceptual Faustian sagas and constructing those into an unforgettable live experience. Described by frontman Evgeniy Zayarny as a vehicle of “Melancholy and Rage”, Red Cain delivers power, flair, thematic Slavic influence, and intricate, lethal edge in their work. Listeners might well pick out elements reminiscent of such luminary acts as Kamelot, Symphony X, Tesseract, Lord of the Lost, whipped into a venomous new shape. The current incarnation of this Canadian metal band is of these influences mixed with a lot of vodka and Eastern European melancholy, shaken and stirred.

Red Cain self-released its debut self-titled EP in North America in 2016 to excellent reviews, and followed this up with two award-winning full-length albums, “Kindred: Act I” in 2019, and AFA-funded “Kindred: Act II” in 2021, working with Sliptrick Records globally to have over 3500+ physical copies sold, as well as over 200,000 digital streams to date. The band has hit #1 on the Canadian National Loud Charts on multiple occasions and is a 1x winner and 3x nominee for the Metal Recording of the Year at the YYC Music Awards.

The band has created 13 videos, of which 2 are full-length, high-production music videos for “ZERO” and “Juliet”. The latter two videos have won 17 awards at international music festivals, including the Berlin Short Film Festival, Venice Shorts, Global Shorts, IndieX FilmFesti, AIFF, and Hollywood Art & Movie Awards, among others. The band has a strong history of collaboration, with a highlight being our work with Juno Award-winning vocalist Kobra Paige of heavy metal band Kobra and the Lotus, on the track “Wing of the Crow”.

Red Cain released our latest album “Kindred: Act II” globally with Sliptrick Records in 2021, with a particular focus on promotion and engagement in the United States and Eastern Europe, where the band has received significant traction in 2020-21. With live performances stunted by COVID, the band has focused strongly on building out the concept behind the two-album “Kindred” arc with non-musical collateral, creating story content and custom art for the album concept.

With a significant upward trend of fan interest for this release, and 100,000 + digital streams, Red Cain has our set sights firmly set on another ambitious and conceptually exciting project, with the next release cycle coming in late 2022 with the first single “Fisher King”.

What the press is saying:

“This is a track (Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire) that infuses their progressive and power metal sound, similar to that of Symphony X and Kamelot. Alongside this, there are also faint similarities to bands like Dream Theater and even Korn. This is a nearly 6 minute track that doesn’t let up and doesn’t fear to change up its style throughout.” – Metal Injection

#10 Red Cain !earshot – The National Loud Chart For the Week Ending: Tuesday, February 9, 2021 (Earshot)

“From the proggy goodness of album opener “Kindred”, to the blast beats of “Baltic Fleet”, to the epic closer “Sunshine (Blood Sun Empire), there is something here for every fan of progressive power metal. With this being Act II in Red Cain’s Kindred body of work, I really feel as though I entered a movie theater right in the middle of an epic saga. Each song is a journey in and of itself, but each also contributes to the overall fantastic voyage. I will absolutely be purchasing Act I of this amazing tale and listen from start to finish, the way it was intended. Do yourself a favor and do the same!” – Metal Rules

“If you like your music melodic, mysterious, and gothic, with a progressive power metal base, then this is for you. This has been a joy to review and yet another band to add to my favoured list. ” – The Prog Space

“Zayarny is a powerhouse vocalist and the contortions he forces into Red Cain make for a very diverse record.. the talent behind the record is undeniable, and at the very least, Kindred proved far more creative and thought-provoking than most death metal records I’ve recently tackled. You should give it a shot — even if you’re not a big weenie..” – Angry Metal Guy

“Overall, ‘Kindred: Act II’ is an interesting mix of styles that combine together in technical wizardry to set the backdrop for the continued tales of the warrior Zalcoatl. There’s some unexpected musical influences that bubble to the surface, particularly the liberal use of electronic elements provides a futuristic, yet gothic, element to the tales. Vocally, there’s some clear inspiration from Kamelot going on here. They’re predominantly clean, but with a wide range between high pitched and deep passages. The guitar work is pretty varied as well and at times even hits a distinctly djent groove that seems to appear out of nowhere!… Fans of Kamelot and Mastodon alike will find some common ground with ‘Kindred: Act II’ (and Act I for that matter).” – Uber Rock

“These seasoned metal performers brought me to school with a clear cut album, delivered beautifully across seven tracks. The epic highs and lows of the album leave me wanting more… My hat is off to RED CAIN!” – Metal Temple

“With a flurry of progressive guitars, grandiose vocals and intriguingly wild effects, Red Cain burn brightly from the very start with the opening track, Kindred.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

Halifax, Canada’s Kilmore create a brand of soulful psychedelic stoner rock as a yearning for expression and escapism. Their musical endeavors see them unearthing the realities of life through sounds and wanting to create something new. Featuring magnetically emotive passages contrasted against assaults of groove-forward aggression, the band conveys themes surrounding rebirth, love, hate, frustration, understanding, and the search for truth to permeate their darker-edged sonic palette.

Today, the quartet unveils their latest single “Tempest” accompanied by a music video, which will be featured on their forthcoming EP “From the Inside”, which follows their East Coast Music Award-nominated 2015 EP “City Lights”, and 2018 LP “Call of the Void”, which won the “Loud Recording of the Year”.

Vocalist and guitarist Heather Harris explains the single:

“We planned to have six tracks on our next EP, and ‘Tempest’ was one of the most unyielding to nail down, it took us a while to get the groove of it. To me, it sounded transcendent but chaotic, like a tempest rising. We thought it would be a good first introduction to ‘From the Inside’ as it has a groovy progressive feel.”

“Tempest” is about someone coming into your life like a hurricane. Harris experienced this while welcoming her son into the world, a world that seemed so disrupted at the time. The song speaks of a vigorous figure finding its place in a hectic world while shining brightly through the darkness.

“Tempest” is one of many songs that Kilmore had worked on over the past couple of years while being locked down during the pandemic.

“We have grown a lot musically with each record we have released. ‘City Lights’ was more rock-influenced, ‘Call of the Void’ swayed more in the metal, stoner rock realm, and our upcoming EP ‘From The Inside’ brings both elements.” adds Harris.

“From the Inside” will be a form of groovy, psychedelic rock with metal components. Lyrically, it was written at a time of disarray around the world with internal struggles as well. During its writing process, Heather Harris became a new mother and was searching to find her place in a new reality, which speaks loudly in the vocal and lyrical emotions on the EP. Fans will find themes of destruction while others of hope, each song has its own substance and identity.

“We worked with producer Jon Landry (The Stanfields) who is a seasoned songwriter himself and he really brought in a unique perspective to the songs. We recorded the whole EP in our basement studio which gave us the time needed to craft each song and bring life to the recordings. Musically, some songs came out easier than others, and some needed more time to capture the essence we were looking for. When I wrote the lyrics, the themes were formed from the emotions I felt from the music. This was an intense time for me with the world seeming so unpredictable and disorganized, there were a lot of feelings brewing inside. This comes across in the lyrics and artwork for the album.” says Harris.

More songs will be revealed in lead up to the 2023 release of their EP “From the Inside’.

Watch and listen to “Tempest” at https://youtu.be/PDwLKegFKh4

Kilmore finds its roots deep in influence from two siblings who immigrated from Newry, Northern Ireland at an early age to Vancouver, BC, and eventually to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Two new Canadians growing up in the nineties, finding their musical diet of grunge to surpass the time.

Fast forward to 2013, sister and brother Heather Harris (vocals, guitars) and Dan Doran (guitars) formed with the addition of Neil Spence (bass) and Lor Sangster (drums) to the original lineup. Sangster was later replaced in 2019 by Jon MacIsaac (drums) from local bands Chosen Lung, Burdened, Earth Alter to complete the current lineup.

Dark, aggressive, brawny, and haunting, Kilmore is recommended for fans of Royal Thunder, Baroness, Windhand, and The Damn Truth.

Earshot Top 200 – Kilmore – Call The Void – #118 – July 2018 (Earshot)

“INFECTIOUS MELODIES WITH VOCALS TONED TO PERFECTION, INCREDIBLE MUSICIANSHIP WITH HIGH PRODUCTION VALUE, CATCHY HOOKS, METALLIC EDGE, AND INSATIABLE GROOVE.” – THE RIPPLE EFFECT

“Call of the Void, the riffs are relentless as the band channels gloom through minor chords…The spirit of darkness breathes through the lyrics as Kilmore reminds us rock is alive and well.” – The Coast

“the heavy and bluesy sounds really drive home those themes of reckless behaviour and dark feelings… The band effectively portray their intended emotions and messages to the listener through their music while providing them with something to bang their head—or groove—to.” – The East Magazine

“The opening title cut begins City Lights with brawny, distorted guitar licks, steadily pounding drums and wailing vocals akin to classic rock radio. This sets the tone for the four-piece’s muscular sound, as tracks like “Rising Sun” and “Weight of the World” are similarly stuffed with meaty riffage, while “Peace of Mind” is slightly more restrained and slow-burning. The curveball is “Younger Years,” which ventures into a folk rock direction with its acoustic strums.” – Exclaim!

================================================

Track By Track:

The album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Diabolical, fast, unforgiving armageddon. From slow passages, mid-tempo bangers, hyper-fast blast beats, and the occasional odd-time signature, it’s a ride in extreme thrash unlike anything before.

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

Into Nekropolis
Into Nekropolis is the first song that introduces the whole album. This picks up literally from where Kaustic Hordes (2021) ended. We wanted to write something that would capture the attention of the listener and encapsulate the idea of the entire album into a single track. And that is how we came up with Into Nekropolis.

Radioaktive Scourge
For this one, we wanted to write something that is aggression, unlike anything we’ve released before. From the speed, the lyrics, and the sheer intensity, this song may be the shortest track but makes the largest impact and it’s over before you know it.

The Goddamned
This track is what the band calls as “our answer to Terminal Violence”. A mid-tempo banger that oozes thrash from beginning to end. Lyrically, this song talks about the curse of immortality from bloodlust, which basically happens when someone has an insatiable thirst for violence.

Fatal Strike
This track is our densest song, which has three solos in a span of three and a half minutes, playing with blast beats and a catchy chorus. It’s probably the most violent song in the album and that is why we decided to shoot a music video for it.

Libertad Y Muerte
Libertad y Muerte is a collaborative effort between Jack Neila and Derek Solomos, putting their best foot forward musically for this track. Switching from the key of G to the key of D, this track also shows experimentation with odd time signatures, having three different ones throughout the whole song.

Infernal Onslaught
Infernal Onslaught is another track that brings you from one end to the other, by combining mid-tempo riffs, blasts, and old-school thrash vibes. This track is probably Korrosive’s most experimental song in terms of musicality and lyrics.

Hail the Hellfire
Hail the Hellfire is perhaps the anthem to the entire Toxic Apokalypse album. Written as a reflection of the period when the album was being composed, this track discusses the brutality of war and the end result of each and every individual involved in its cause, regardless of side.

Karnage Incarnate
This track was originally written for Jack Neila’s previous death metal band, Vias, and was rewritten as it was thrashy, and fit the Korrosive vibe perfectly. This track also features solos from both Jack Neila and Derek Solomos.

=============================================

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. Both of Korrosive’s albums (Kaustic Hordes and Toxic Apokalypse) deals with the subject of science fiction, armageddon and “what if” scenarios. The album art and the songs are mostly tied with each other, basically narrating a story drawn out in both albums.

2. The album art for Toxic Apokalypse was created by Ed Repka who has worked with bands such as Dark Angel, Death, Hirax, Megadeth, Suicidal Angels and Venom.

3. The band’s sound engineer, Ben Erikson, played the cyborg in the band’s 2021 music video “Burning Earth 2029”.

4. Jack Neila works for Glenn Fricker, who played shows with Michael Jari Davidson (director of two Korrosive music videos), who also played in a band with Craig Newman, the CEO of CDN Records, the band’s label.

5. Toxic Apokalypse was mastered by Arthur Rizk, who is known for producing, mixing and/or mastering for Power Trip, Cavalera Conspiracy, Kreator, Cro-Mags, Municipal Waste, Soulfly, Sacred Reich and Primitive Man.

Canadian extreme thrash metal band Korrosive was formed by vocalist Rad Zarei in late 2015 initially as a project to create something that would explore and push the boundaries of thrash metal.

After a few years and some band member changes, the final lineup was established in the summer of 2020. With the initial addition of powerhouse Kaveh Afshar on drums and Carlos Rodriguez on bass, followed by the monstrous addition of Jack Neila and Derek Solomos on guitars, Korrosive was well on its way to decimating with its unrelenting style of blistering extreme thrash metal.

Korrosive is a thrash that is in your face, unapologetic and is definitely one that offers a headbang-inducing experience, unlike anything you’ve heard before.

EPK – The Bloody Hell – Nobody Cares (2022)

Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“The album took about 3 years to complete due to covid restrictions, lockdown, and all the madness that was the pandemic. With this album, we feel our sound has evolved nicely from the previous record released in 2018. We have worked hard to shape our songwriting and storytelling abilities and that is thoroughly displayed over the nine tracks on this album.” – The Bloody Hell

“Sound wise it’s very accessible, an up-tempo and fun listen that is easy on the ear and compelling to the mind, with influences that the band cite as ranging from Misfits, Nirvana, and Motorhead and it’s filled with catchy hooks and grungy raw-edged vocals, a winning combination in this particular context, it’s very broad spectrum and if you like a horror twist then it could be even more appealing to you. Lyrically the content is interestingly often ambiguous and delivered with clarity of content so you can give them your own interpretation.” – The Punk Globe (Self-Titled 2018)

==========================================

Track by Track:

The album as a whole (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY):

It’s a true story and we mean every word, hook, or note.

Track by track (LYRICALLY & MUSICALLY) explained:

As Above is the brainchild of James Densley- He is not so secretly a great piano player so I asked him to whip up some piano parts to open and close the album and gave him free reign to create what he needed to express himself in that regard.

Hide Away is fast and punky with a driving riff and slick earworm guitar lead. Lyrically it’s about being unable to commit emotionally and paying the price for it.

When You’re Gone is an aggressive anti-love song of sorts. I wish we never met but I won’t forget you when you’re gone. It’s as if the saying “ The axe forgets but the tree remembers” was turned into a song.

Barbra is a cover of an old Canadian punk song by Vancouver legends Modernettes. Just a great driving song with super cool teenage angst and lyrics.

G is a song we had kicking around for a while but it never felt complete. The saxophone did the trick and became a total left field kinda track for us. Keep them guessing.

Nobody Cares About America Anymore is an anti-political song. We consider it as a radically indifferent social commentary. It’s sharp and biting aggressive and doesn’t hold back or pull punches.

Rulers of the Night is a little more laid back than the rest of the album and is sort of a teenage fantasy type of theme about being the anti-cool kids, loosely based on the movie The Lost Boys.

Dead to me is our bastardization of the classic blues formula. It’s a true story of a love gone terribly wrong.

So Below is the other half of the piano piece by James Densley, creepy and soothing to close out the album.

Formed in 2017, The Bloody Hell has gotten dirtier and more polished at the same time, with the band infecting fans with their pop-cultural hooks and concepts, while the guitars keep getting louder and the vocals becoming uglier. The Bloody Hell is pretty much what would happen if George Thorogood sang for the Misfits, but all the songs were written by Tom Petty.

Super catchy horror rock songs about drinking and heartache are played at punk rock speed with a lineup that features vocalist/guitarist Ian Kean (guitar, vocals), guitarist and pianist James Densley also known from Bubbles and The Shit Rockers, the band fronted by the character Bubbles from the hit TV show The Trailer Park Boys, drummer Kyle Cantfell (Elektric Mistress), and bassist Joe Woods (Root Cellar).

Fast forward now to 2022, and these Canadian punk rockers from Halifax, Nova Scotia return in 2022 to finally release their long-awaited follow-up to their 2018 debut self-titled album. Entitled “Nobody Cares”, the sophomore full-length is out now as of November 10th. Over the last two years during the Covid pandemic, the band shared two singles and music videos, “Nobody Cares About America Anymore” and “When You’re Gone” off the record to a great reception from fans.

“The album took about 3 years to complete due to Covid restrictions, lockdown, and all the madness that was the pandemic. With this album, we feel our sound has evolved nicely from the previous record released in 2018. We have worked hard to shape our songwriting and storytelling abilities and that is thoroughly displayed over the nine tracks on this album. We are hoping that fans who loved our first album will be super excited to hear this one to see how our songwriting has progressed. And we hope that people hearing us for the first time will find something in our sound to relate to or sing along with.” adds vocalist/guitarist Ian Kean.

“Nobody Cares” features The Bloody Hell’s signature sound of raspy aggressive, catchy horror, and politically charged antics over nine tracks that clock in at just over 28 minutes. From tracks like “Hide Away” with its fast punky driving riff and slick earworm guitar lead to “Barbra” a cover of an old Canadian punk song by Vancouver legends Modernettes to even having saxophone on “G” along with added piano on “As Above” and “So Below”, punk fans will find it to be an energetic and passionate sonic experience that conveys stories from lived experiences that many can relate to.

“It’s a true story and we mean every word, hook, and note on it. We give an emotional rollercoaster for your eyes and mind with twists and turns, ups and downs. Just as life is. All the lyrics come from personal experiences whether it be a relationship failure or success, a wild story of substance abuse, or just an observation about world events. I write what I know and try to be truthful in my lyrics.” says Kean.

With a big emphasis on storytelling, so are the two music videos they released to support the album, which can be viewed below.

Rockshots Records – Power Metallers HIGHLORD Want You To Have Your “Eyes Open Wide” For First Single Off New Album “Freakin’ Out of Hell”

“Freakin’ Out of Hell” Out December 9th

Italian Power metallers Highlord are unveiling their first single “Eyes Wide Open” off their forthcoming album “Freakin’ Out of Hell” due out on December 9th via Rockshots Records.

The band explains the track:

“Starting with a state-of-the-art heavy riff and guitar solo, it slows down with clean guitars for the vocal parts, quickly regaining territory on the fast and heavy side, culminating with the chorus. The following section is quite progressive-fashioned, followed by back-and-forth guitar and keyboard solos. The final chorus concludes the song. The topic of the lyrics is basically the same as Off the Beaten Path, we must keep our eyes well open to detect a long list of deceits.”

Listen to “Eyes Wide Open” at the following links:

Lyric Video – https://youtu.be/Bkl8o9FDWCY

Digital – https://bfan.link/eyes-open-wide

Infusing heavy-power metal with progressive and symphonic influences was formed in Turin Italy in 1997, over the span of their career they have released eight albums, contributed to two tribute albums for Manowar and Helloween, have toured all over Europe and performed with Zak Steven’s Circle II Circle, Dark Moor, Freedom Call, Pino Scotto, Vision Divine, Elvenking, Sacred Steel, Seventh Wonder and more along with music featured on movie soundtracks for ‘The Werewolf Chronicles’ and ‘Blood Of The Werewolf’.

For their ninth album “Freakin’ Out Of Hell”, the band began recording it between May 2020 and December 2021. The album includes 11 tracks of pure power-metal in perfect Highlord style, but with a much more aggressive sound and a touch of prog-metal. Again the album has been recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced in-house by bass player Massimiliano Flak at Evolution Recording Studio (Italy). The album’s artwork was created by Harley Velasquez on a concept by Highlord.

The band adds about the ninth offering:

“Freakin’ out of Hell is a solid work from every point of view. Not only the songs are all potential singles, but they have more or less the same average length of 4/5 minutes; we avoided recording the classic long suite just as much as the hit-and-run happier song because in this album we have found the perfect balance between all the elements of our sound. We have also set the average level of heaviness and aggression a bit higher; this is not a happy metal record, it’s a heavy metal piece that fully deserves this definition.”

Montreal, QC – November 4, 2022

Step Into A Vast Progressive Metal World With THE WRING’s “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann

New Album “Spectra” Out Dec 16th, 2022 via WormHoleDeath Records

Canada’s The Wring is gearing up to release a third album “Spectra” next month, which promises to be an assertive mix of different styles including hard rock, jazz, metal, classical, 80’s rock, 70’s rock, and probably a few other things. Solo artist Don Dewulf had the idea and with the help of accomplished musicians, the project has been brought to life. The next piece they are sharing is the single “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann, which Dewulf outlines:

“This song is about the debilitating need for social media attention and validation. The blade goes in and you never even feel it, then you slowly bleed out. The verses are in 5/8 and ⅞ creating a somewhat jarring effect, and also speaking to the theme. Chandler does a killer job on the chorus vocal and there is a very peculiar odd-time breakdown before the solo. Very fun song to play.”

He also comments that “Spectra” is a bit like a 1970’s King Crimson album, but without any ethereal soliloquies and certainly with a more significant hard rock/metal influence. Compared to last year’s full-length “Project Cipher”, this new offering carries on in the same tradition and headspace, but the songs are fuller and cohesive.

The album got its name because Dewulf feels that it really touches on a wide range of musical styles and themes. The mixes are very layered with a lot of detail; you can listen to it many times and still continue to pick out intricacies and small details each time.

Dewulf is writing constantly as he always has a lot of ideas to flesh out and bring to the ears of listeners around the world. He has no intentions of stopping soon, so fans of “Spectra” should keep an eye out for new music. The Wring is recommended for fans of King Crimson, Dream Theater, and Opeth.

The music video for “Stiletto” ft. Marco Minnemann can be seen and heard via its premiere on Bravewords HERE.

““Wring² Project Cipher comes with a heavy, classic rock feel, but there’s an epic, questing nature to tunes like Sorceress, Steelier and Dose that pushes The Wring beyond metal norms and into prog territory.” – Prog Magazine

“The extreme professionalism on display throughout this entire album, although a labour of love, is a true master class of musicianship performed by musicians who are truly at the top of their game, making the industry what it is today. The sheer attention to detail is a credit to each and every performer as they tailor their craft neatly and precisely throughout every track, with nothing less than perfect being the order of the day.” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Overall, the entire album is laden with a rich tapestry of sound and lyrics, well thought out and carefully developed by founder member and visionary Don Dewulf, taking the listener on that perfect journey of thought, and is a credit to its makers gathering no dust in any collection. 10/10” – Stargazer Music Magazine

“Thanks to his renowned session musicians and original compositions, The Wring is a refreshing discovery that offers a personal reading of modern metal. 4/5” – Music Waves

“What sounds at first to be a straight-forward rock album, turns out to be so much more. It’s a tad short, but sometimes less is more. You can hear many influences in these tracks, some of them familiar, but The Wring have stamped their own identity all over it. This should keep you going for the time being but expect more from Don Dewulf with The Wring3 already in the recording stage!” – The Prog Space

“Dewulf’s guitar work shines throughout, at times reminiscent of Alex Lifeson in his prime, such as his powerful solo on ‘Steelier’ which soars above the raging musical maelstrom below. There’s even a funk-infused breakout on ‘Dose’, which is infectious with its driving hook. It’s an absorbing record, one that takes time to soak in, but several plays ensure that it’s burnt deep into the memory. When those end-of-year lists come round, ‘Wring² Project Cipher’ is likely to be pushing for a slot.” – The Razor’s Edge

“The Wring generally succeed at what they’re going for—Dewulf has produced a fun, catchy record. Particularly on the album’s middle section (“Cipher,” “Steelier” and “Dissension”), there’s some great songs with great riffs. If you’re after some new prog, you could do a lot worse than this album, and I found it quite hard to score.” – Angry Metal Guy

“The overall sound is something like the heavier side of Rush, with hooks and melodic elements smoothing out the guitar crunch, making this very accessible.” – The Progressive Aspect

The electrifying quartet of Canada’s Iron Kingdom have a hot new album “The Blood Of Creation” ready for release and can be heard in full at https://youtu.be/4pk7QzM4gBo

“The Blood Of Creation”, the band’s fifth, is not a concept album, but it does have a trilogy about the creation myth from the ancient Mesopotamians. It tells the tale of Tiamat and Marduk and the creation of the heavens, the earth, and mankind. This story is known as being one of the oldest, if not the oldest known story from mankind. The band comments on the album:

“Our music is best described as if Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had a child and raised it on Hammerfall, Helloween, Rush, and, Blind Guardian. With this album, we feel like we’ve merged the more straightforward approach of our last record ‘On the Hunt’ with the storytelling and epic quality of our earlier releases. We took advantage of the forced hiatus from shows and spent the longest on writing that we have for any of our previous efforts and feel like it’s really paid off. The pandemic also brought us a new drummer to solidify what we feel is our strongest lineup yet and his influence is felt on this record. This album shows the level of maturity we have reached as songwriters as well as musicians while maintaining what makes an Iron Kingdom release.”

According to the band, they expect that this new offering will be very exciting for fans old and new. They have caught the essence of all the previous albums into one killer new package, there are fast songs, mid-tempo bangers, and even an epic. They’ve put the time into getting this album just right and it shows.

“The Blood Of Creation” was completely self-produced, written, and recorded. The album was sent out for mixing (Andy Boldt) and mastering (Greg Reely), but they handled everything else. vocalist/guitarist Chris Osterman engineered the record with some help from the band and some friends (Dan Yakimow, Jeff Black).

With “The Blood Of Creation” listeners can expect the usual mix of fantasy and history-inspired songs that aim to entertain and at least lightly educate about past events and beliefs. They are recommended for fans of Queensrÿche, Riot, and Iron Maiden.

The band will also be hosting a now sold-out release party for their release day on Nov 4th at Wise Hall in Vancouver. For more info, please visit the following link here.

“Loads of riffs and melodies some excellent lead breaks and pounding rhythms. This is bonafide, foot on the monitor, fist pumping, horn throwing real metal. I have never heard Iron Kingdom before but on the strength of this I will be obtaining the back catalogue very soon.” – My Global Mind (The Blood of Creation)

“Iron Kingdom brings another solid heavy metal album with the fifth album ‘The Blood of Creation’. Slightly progressive, but especially heavy… Give the band a listen, you will be surprised!” – Metal Experience

“the hype is real: “The Blood of Creation” is an overdose of classic power metal, a homage to the late 80’s – 90’s power metal heroes: HELLOWEEN, GAMMA RAY, HEAVEN’S GATE, SCANNER, early CHINCHILA (remember those guys?), EDGUY with a touch of American stuff like RΙΟΤ.” – Forgotten Scroll

“They are aiming at the classic sound from the 70s and 80s, so if you want something modern then you have nothing to pick up here. The lyrics speak of war, fear, sacrifice and pain. Luckily the music is not that dark though, but rather very uplifting and pleasant, as it’s a more melodic kind of heavy metal that we get from this band, even though there’s some more powerful tracks too…. I like what I hear.” – Hard Rock Info

Aittala has been around since 1991 and in that time has developed a sound that is unique, progressive, and memorable. With a solid core of doom metal, they add hints of power metal, sludge, and traditional metal, a feast of variety that is on full display in their upcoming seventh album “Live to Regret”. Lyrically, the album chronicles a chaotic period of time for members of the band personally as well as the global events happening in parallel. The band comments on the album:

“Aittala is extremely excited for the fans to hear the new album “Live to Regret”. The pandemic was a stressful time for everyone, but it’s even much more stressful when you’re dealing with an unhealthy relationship that’s full of tension and animosity on a daily basis. A lot of toxic energy fueled the writing of the album and became something of a way to cleanse the spirit of the toxicity. We hope the fans hear the pain, pleasure, and passion that went into the writing of these songs. I think they’ll connect with these songs more than prior albums because they are more personal. Overall, we’re very pleased with how the album turned out. It’s definitely the best Aittala album yet and we look forward to building on it in the future!”

The album has eleven tracks, each defying the limits of genre rules. There is the thrash-inspired track “Cannibals” that confronts the tightening grip of governmental monitoring and control. The sludgy “Big Brother” – is about the devolution/zombification of the human race due to technology. The smoky stoner infused “Never Forget” talks about dealing with a toxic person along with many more.

For Aittala, only enough songs are written for an album, so they don’t have the problem of having to select certain songs over others. During the songwriting process, only the best songs get past the idea stage, then they are developed and refined until the song is complete. As far as how much more music fans can expect, there are no plans to stop writing and releasing new material.

An eclectic mix of metal, “Live to Regret” is recommended for fans of Baroness, Crowbar, and Katatonia.

Listen to the album in full via its premiere on Doom And Stoned HERE.

“Live to Regret” will be available on November 7, 2022, via Exitus Stratagem Records and was produced by Eric Aittala and John E. Wooten IV, who also mixed the record along with mastering by Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering. Album artwork by Mariano Pugliese.

About: The music of AITTALA (pronounced ‘EYE-tah-la’) crosses many metal genres; it’s hard to put it into just one category. The sound infuses elements of classic heavy metal, doom, progressive, power, thrash, and hard rock with lyrics drawing inspiration from the darker side of the human condition. The AITTALA sound has been cited for being unique which is no easy feat in the metal genre.

The first version of AITTALA was formed in 1991 while Eric Aittala was living in Holland. With fellow American Tim on vocals and Dutch bandmates Ed (drums) and Jon (bass), the band became a staple of the Dutch metal scene.

With the release of the 3-song EP ‘Selling Heaven’ in summer of 1993, AITTALA opened for such bands as THE GATHERING and SADIST. Unfortunately, as the demo started to create a buzz in the underground European metal scene, Eric had to return to the US and disbanded AITTALA.

Over the next decade or so, Eric played in numerous bands (TRIBE, MAGNETHEAD, DWELL) and lost focus on AITTALA.

Near the end of the 00’s, Eric decided it was time to refocus his efforts on the AITTALA brand. From 2009 to 2016, AITTALA released 4 full-length albums: ‘Bed of Thorns’ (2009), ‘Haunt Your Flesh’ (2011), ‘Effigy’ (2014) and ‘American Nightmare’ (2016). Each album showcasing a natural progression of song writing and lyrical content but retaining the core AITTALA sound and evolving it.

In 2019, AITTALA signed with Curtain Call Records and released the band’s fifth full-length album ‘False Pretenses’. It was ten brand new songs that not only continued the song writing evolution of heavier but catchy songs, but also sonically. AITTALA used an entirely different approach for the recording, mixing and mastering to create the best AITTALA album to date.

The current lineup of AITTALA consists of Gary ‘Zeus’ Smith (THE FIFTH, ex-MR BLACKWELL) on drums and Ali Lugo (ex-AGE OF DESPAIR) on bass.

They continue to write, record and tour to bring AITTALA to the masses with plans in 2022 to unleash their sixth studio album entitled “Live To Regret” to be released by label Exitus Stratagem Records.

“This platter is heavy melodic ear candy that drips with deep and mesmeric face-melting tones and grinding rhythms.” (Live to Regret) – The Metal Gods Meltdown

“The band’s sound is difficult to pigeonhole because they incorporate a variety of styles. The common element in all the songs is the potent groove. On tracks like “Black Coffin” and “Afterthought” stoner/doom is at the forefront, while songs such as “Disowned” have a more traditional metal vibe. There are progressive influences on “How Much Longer,” while the closer “Debt” is a piano based ballad. Even with so many disparate styles, Aittala bring everything together into a cohesive whole.” – Heavy Music Headquarters

“I would describe them as an eclectic Doom Metal band, although their sound is a bit tough to define. That’s ultimately a good thing though, and I enjoy the refreshment of something different. My only major complaint is that on some songs, the vocals and lyrics are so drawn out that they become a little boring and you end up waiting a bit for something cool to happen. The good news is something cool usually does end up happening” – Metal-Temple

“In the metal world, bands can start to sound the same and Aittala steps outside of the box. With clear crisp vocals, grinding rhythms and well executed leads, this band is definitely in a league of their own.” – The Metal Channel

New Album “Heal the Unhealed” Out November 7th

Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, who are excited to announce their second album “Heal the Unhealed”. The record is an international effort – rehearsed and recorded through five different studios in three continents ranging from the United States, Slovenia, and Turkey. A new level of musicality and artistic expression blends magnificent sweeps, heavy riffs, and intricate melodies together, creating an eclectic proggy frame for personal topics.

The band comments on the album:

“After two years of delay due to the crazy pandemic, we are more than happy to release our new album “Heal the Unhealed” and share it with the rest of the world. This hidden gem was on the shelf way too long and its timing couldn’t be more appropriate. Reflecting on historical events and their psychologies through the album, we can see that history doesn’t change but repeats in variations, as the war in the east keeps raging in the present.”

In advance of the album’s official release on November 7th, Seventh Station has teamed up with AllAboutTheRock for its full-stream premiere.

Seventh Station expects that fans will be pleased with the latest offering, as compositionally, performance and production-wise they believe they have done some of their absolute best work to this day. Crafted meticulously, the band looks at it like a novel or a movie and suggests there’s a lot to discover even after the first pass of listening.

Seventh Station has put great effort into its compositions and performances, taking them to the next level with a wider palette of colors. From dreamy atmospheres to technical madnesses, it’s a musically diverse record. According to guitarist Dmitri Alperovich, the writing on the album and recording of it was his way to fight with the demons of his past and roots. “Heal The Unhealed” was mixed, and mastered by Matej Gobec at The Cosmosonic Studios, and the album artwork was done by Tal Asulin, it is recommended listening for fans of Opeth, Pain of Salvation, and Frank Zappa.

“Heal The Unhealed” will be available on November 7, 2022.

About: Seventh Station is a progressive metal band based in Slovenia, led by Israeli Guitarist Dmitri Alperovich and Turkish Keyboardist Eren Başbuğ. Constructing their sound by fusing progressive metal with contemporary classical music, the band’s new album Healed the Unhealed is their second full-length record, released independently. Featuring an international lineup, Davidavi “Vidi” Dolev (Vocals), Jure Lopatic (Bass), and Grega Plamberger (Drums). On their new record, Seventh Station adds to their “on the edge” performances and compositions more blood, more sweat, and more tears.

Formed between the Academy of Music & Dance in Jerusalem and Berklee College of Music in Boston, Seventh Station released its debut album Between Life and Dreams in 2016. After relocating to Europe and a few line-up changes, Alperovich and Başbuğ knew no borders in the search for uncompromising compositions and musical executors, progressive and challenging. After several tours between the Middle East and post-Yugoslavia, the band gathered together on recording ‘Heal the Unhealed’. Inspired by the Second World War and the Soviet Union, the album is an hour-long reflection in the eyes of Alperovich, who was born in Minsk, Belarus, moved to Israel and eventually found his way to Slovenia. Featuring surrealistic epos, harnessing the band’s skillful abilities in order to express Kafkaesque situations, Heal the Unhealed examines resemblances between dictatorships and the personality disorders of an artist.

Seventh Station is now gearing up for their upcoming record Heal the Unhealed released on November 7th, 2022, along with a supporting tour through Europe and the Middle East, to be announced later this Fall.

“This album creates and destroys barriers, making a point to invoke drama about the Second World War. The band has explored every aspect of orchestration in the form of King Crimson and dements the Frank Zappa sound that bombards the listener. They present complex arrangements and deep intricate movements. These are both alienating and perfect forms of musical momentum. Each phase has been constructed by the composer to invoke the sonic dissonance of the Stalin era of the Soviet Union.” – Caved Weller Music

“The guys definitely show that they are a very up-and-coming, well-thought-out Progressive Metal band”. – MetalUnderground.at

“Between Life and Dreams is not a typical progressive metal album, in its musical structure the listener can find elements of classical music and find intensive, delicate motive work in each song”. – Lady Obscure

“This is a combination of old and new influences, including those from musicians that are classically trained. This results in music that has a lot going on, with so many different styles involved that it would be pointless to try and list them all” – Wonderbox Metal

“Many of their creations are inspired from classical music compositions in which they mix their own virtuoso inputs of modern and progressive metal. Believe me, the album will open your ears fully and lead you into the magical world of fantasy between two worlds, the reality and the dreams.” – Paranoid Webzine
