Seattle and Los Angeles-based heavy metal four-piece RivetSkull’s re-imagined full-length album is now available on all digital music services. “Trail of Souls: Samsara” is a complete re-recording of the band’s self-published 2020 album “Trail of Souls”. After self-recording and releasing their debut album during the global pandemic, RivetSkull revisited their songs with professional production that captures the massive sound that fans have come to expect from their live shows. In support of their album’s release, the band drops their next music video for the single, “Forever”, which can be viewed and heard on NWOTHM Full Albums YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/_DKweQCzVDk

The band shares their thoughts on the upcoming release:

“We originally wrote ‘Forever’ in 2019 when the world was, once again, in a strange place and the US was experiencing a significant political and religious divide. Two years later, the world would be forever changed by Covid. Then again, in 2022 with more war in Ukraine, inflation, and political and religious agendas driving even more distance between us. ‘Forever’ is about the repeating cycle of life’s ups and downs and changes that must forever face and come to terms with.”

“Trail of Souls: Samsara” has an epic, yet nostalgic feel. Lyrically, vocalist Chad McMurray writes from the heart about things people can relate to, nothing is contrived. RivetSkull isn’t trying to write a certain kind of song and they’re not trying to portray a certain image. They’re not trying to be a tough, brutal band. They’re just normal guys who like metal, much like it was in the 70s – 80s. “I don’t know, maybe we need to bring cod pieces back?” jokes McMurray.

Recorded at London Bridge Studio (Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Queensrÿche) and produced by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Deftones, Seether), “Trail of Souls: Samsara” promises much more than a sonic retouch of the original. The reworked collection features new cover artwork and a previously unreleased recording of a cover of Aerosmith’s “King and Queens.”

RivetSkull keeps is classic, and is recommended for fans of Judas Priest, Def Leppard, and Armored Saint.

About:
It would be easy to call RivetSkull a traditional heavy metal band, but they’re so much more than that. RivetSkull has taken the very roots of heavy metal and forged it into something new and fresh. Spawned from the same DNA that created the beasts that roamed the dark valleys of Birmingham, the foothills of the Cascades, and the plains of Texas, there’s no denying RivetSkull’s heavy metal heritage. This is hard-hitting music blasted over record store chatter, the buzzing of a tattoo gun, or the revving of a motorcycle engine. But, as any metalhead will tell you, heavy metal is more than just a genre: it’s therapy, it’s community, it’s a style – and it’s a movement. And it’s always evolving.

RivetSkull has created a modern sound that’s as unique as each member’s influences, from punk to country, from alternative to funk. Listening to RivetSkull, it’s easy to envision the band’s live show: Chad McMurray’s clean vocals soaring over a sea of bobbing bodies in black band t-shirts, Mark X. Plog’s boundary-defying guitar ascending over raised beers and outstretched metal horns, Michael Robson’s emphatic drums and Mark Hopkins’ booming bass rattling the bones beneath black jeans and denim vests. Like good metal – you’ll feel it in your core as much as you’ll hear it in your ears. All of this is brought to you by a dedicated and hard-working band of brothers. They are RivetSkull and they’re bringing the past into the future.

Montreal, QC – October 18, 2022

Rockshots Records – Look To The Sky To See The “Burning Horizon” – MindAhead Present Music Video For Next Single Off Upcoming Album Out Oct 2022

New Album “6119 – Part I” Out October 28, 2022

Look up to the sky to see the “Burning Horizon”, the next music video for the third single from Italian progressive avant-garde metal MindAheaD in support of their sophomore story album “6119 Part 1” being released via Rockshots Records on October 28th.

The band adds about the track:

“‘Burning Horizon’ is direct and catchy both melodically and structurally; it focuses on the voices that intersect and duet, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes aggressively opposing each other. The instrumental part is articulate, but always keeping an eye on melody and easy assimilation. The orchestrations also play an important role, providing a backdrop to the burned horizon that will turn into a desert very soon.”

Watch and listen to the music video for “Burning Horizon” at https://youtu.be/LUEvDkMkcYw

MindAhead‘s next full-length offering “6119 Part 1” follows their 2017 debut “Reflections” released on Roman label Revalve Records. Just like its predecessor, the band’s new offering is once again a concept album with a complex, personal and unusual sound to test the limits of their songwriting. “6119 Part 1” is a continuation of the previous work on “Reflections”, which will tell us the story of 6119, the main character, through a surreal, oneiric journey, always poised between physical space and the realm of the mind. Trapped in this dreamlike kaleidoscope, he proceeds heedless of the consequences, hoping to find at the end of the journey (the “Part II,” currently in production) the reason why all this is happening to him.

Merging different aspects, sometimes opposite, of human feeling, bringing them together in a colorful and personal musical proposal, which has its roots in influences ranging from prog 70s to death metal, the band explains the new album in further detail:

“This album is a concept realized with the aim of telling a story that straddles the line between dystopian science fiction and the psychological investigation of the human mind, so the music and lyrics were created in order to reach these goals. We would like the listening experience to be completely immersive. We would like the listener to be able to take a break from the real world and step into another dimension, one that is distant but at the same time well known, not alien, but almost familiar. The listener should passionately follow the events of ‘6119’ in its inner and outer search for reality, in a story that began in the previous album ‘Reflections’ and will end in the band’s next release, so as to complete a narrative trilogy.”

Having shared the stage with bands such as Jinjer, Vision Divine, Deathless Legacy, Domine, Pino Scotto, MindAhead is recommended for fans of Opeth, Ayreon, Haken, Katatonia and Pink Floyd. “6119 Part 1” is due out October 28th, 2022 via Rockshots Records.

“MindAhead are a band of innovation in metal. They are on the vanguard of where avant garde and progressive metal is going into the future. I believe Reflections is opening up another door of true ideas and standards for this kind of experimental metal. They continue Italy’s rich under rated progressive rock and metal tradition. They have a very distinctive and unique sound that will stand out among the current metal landscape. MindAhead’s Reflections is one of the absolute strongest debut albums over the last 25 years. I am giving MindAhead’s Reflections a perfect 5/5.” – Power of Prog

“The music captured different moods very well that it was almost like an emotional roller coaster listening to this album. Kyo Calati and Frank Novelli did an awesome job singing together. With his ferocious, strength-y growls and screams and her beautiful, serene, innocent voice; they complimented each other like peanut butter and jelly. Great vocalists, great playing and great music! I recommend giving it a listen.” – Metal Temple

“MINDAHEAD have done a lot right on their debut album. Reflections is exciting and entertaining, brings – with the exception of the quiet Farewell – power and surprises with its modern and progressive expressions. An unexpectedly strong debut.” – Vamspter

“Between long suites (Amigdala and Three Sides Of A Dangerous Mind) and more immediate pieces, as in the case of On The Dead Snow and Emerald Eyes, the sextet demonstrates an uncommon determination, and the proven ability to confront a modern and evolved conception of metal. A knockout blow that deserves to be properly exploited, by a band with great potential.” – Rock Hard Italy (2017)

“Among MindAheaD’s many musical influences are the 70’s, progressive rock and death metal. The nature of this band is multifaceted and the band’s name itself is a word that blends thought (mind) and body (head).” – System Failure Webzine

“MINDAHEAD have all the ingredients to become a safe bet, with their own personality and a full-length that, being their debut, could be preparing us for a spiritual successor of OPETH.” – Necromance Magazine

“If you like your progressive but don’t mind a few aggressive vocals in the mix, not that they really dominate, then this is highly recommended. The female vocal is excellent and the countering of the two works perfectly.” – The Rocktologist

0 Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON Unleash New Music Video “Balance of Terror” off New Album “Downfall” Out October 2022 via Moribund Records

Canadian Thrashers TRISKELYON Unleash New Music Video “Balance of Terror”

New Album “Downfall” Out October 2022 via Moribund Records

Canadian melodic power thrashers Triskelyon will be unleashing their debut album “Downfall” on October 28th, 2022 via Washington state-based extreme metal label Moribund Records.

Today, the band presents their latest music video for the single “Balance of Terror”. The song features vocals from Amanda Marie Jackman (Category VI). Band founder Geoff Waye explains the track:

“‘Balance of Terror’ is primarily a nod to the best classic Star Trek episode (Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 1, Episode 14). It’s also about the balance of power that has been built up over the decades. The music video was filmed along the coastline in the area of Cape Spear Newfoundland. There’s a couple of shots from with the large guns that were a part of Newfoundland’s coastal defense during WWII.”

Watch and listen to “Balance of Terror” ft. Marie Jackman (Category VI) – https://youtu.be/V0TR8G5oV4g

Founded by Geoff Waye, guitarist for Artach and Category VI, Triskelyon was conceived in late 2021 as a studio-only project. By January 2022, the band featuring contributions from vocalists Pete Healey and Marlee Ryley (Hyperia), along with drum programming by Raul Marques (Burning Torment) made their introduction to the metal world with a 3-track self-titled EP.

Composed and written mostly by Geoff Waye, with drum programming provided by Raul Marques, “Downfall” sees the band’s next evolution as their first full length and it utilizes a myriad of both male and female guest vocalists from Oberon, Hyperia, Catagory VI and Incidium. “Downfall” has a range and depth of sound unique in today’s modern thrash metal scene, setting the band ahead and apart from the hordes of young new acts. Triskelyon also features guest bass appearances from members of Afterforever and Category VI, making Triskelyon a veritable supergroup of the Canadian metal scene.

Depicting a nature taking over post-apocalyptic view of our ever-screwed-up world, Triskelyon keeps with 80’s thrash tradition employing world-ending yet self-empowering socially conscious lyrical themes. From straight-up 80’s thrashers like “Odyssey (Blessed by Steel)”, to the power metal laced “Find A Way”, and more anthemic thrash tracks such as “Hunger” and “Willful Ignorance”, “Downfall” is sure to satiate even the most discriminating old-school and modern thrash metal fan alike! The album even features a unique and thrashing rendition of the Billy Idol song “Nobody’s Business”.

Album was mixed/mastered by Michael Small with the post-apocalyptic cover art by IvaanMR11.

With “Downfall”, Triskelyon deliver an amazing headbanging album that harkens back to the old-school days of such luminaries as Forbidden, Agent Steel, Sentinel Beast, Détente, Overkill, and Testament.

“The three songs have the rage, heaviness and some rawness you expect from thrash, but also the melody and speed you’ll find in the more aggressive and harsher forms of power metal (no flowery stuff here, people). Pete’s vocals definitely are more of the aggressive heavy/power metal variety while Marlee shakes the hell out of the speakers with a more aggressive and harsher, yet high-pitched style.” – The Metal Crypt

“This is the kind of band that really plays that pure, raw, seething thrash metal that I love.” – Wings of Death

“Classic heavy thrash, catchy quick stuff with big screamy vox! Great stuff!” – WORT 89.9FM – Mosh Pit Radio – Madison, WI

“The EP thunders around the listener’s ears with a massive, powerful sound and gripping guitar riffs, but is also arranged with great attention to detail. Geoff Waye also acts as lead guitarist in the melodic as well as brute playing with pinpoint accuracy… Thrash fans who expect more than just head banging should remember the name TRISKELYON.” – PowerMetal.de

“What does Melodic Thrash sound like? Well in the eyes (and ears) of Geoff Waye it sounds like Thrash with influences of Traditional Metal, so you have plenty of heavy chugging Thrash riffs, separated by Traditional Metal bridges and big choruses. Opening cut “Hunger” sounds like a classic Anthrax cut from the “Spreading The Disease” era, with Iron Maiden influences all over it and Pete Healey’s higher pitched vocals only enhancing that nostalgic feel.” – Metal Noise

0 Norway’s Féleth Confront The Dark History Of Colonialism In “USA” Off “Divine Blight” – Mixed and Mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy)

Montreal, QC – October 17, 2022

Norway’s Féleth Confront The Dark History Of Colonialism In “USA” Off “Divine Blight”

Mixed and Mastered by Christian Donaldson (Cryptopsy)

Féleth, from the far reaches of northern Norway, above the arctic circle, have a new album coming out this winter entitled “Divine Blight”. Some of the tracks on the album are fictional while others, including the single “USA” ft. Petter Carlsen are commentaries on real-world issues. The latest single involves the parallelism of the USA’s and Scandinavia’s effects on the indigenous people of the areas. The band details the track:

“It’s our most alternative song on the album, where almost everyone contributed to the songwriting. “USA” starts off very calm and beautiful, before the main bassline of the song comes in, which in itself is very intricate. The song follows a very strange structure where it has two ‘’hooks’’, and riffs that showcase the absolute guitar mastery that the band can deliver. Lyrically there was a lot of work put into this song, it touches upon the horrors that were inflicted upon the Native Americans, and also the Sami people, the indigenous people of Northern Norway, expressing extreme dismay and criticism against the atrocities inflicted.”

When it comes to writing, everyone participates in the songwriting process, but is mostly handled by the guitarists. Then up to the bass player and drummer to add what they think is the most fitting for the song. The lyrics usually come from the ‘’feel’’ of the songs. The lyrics are ranging from critique towards humanity, relatable events and even touching upon how the more technologically advanced people oppressed natives in the single “USA”.

The general red line throughout the album when it comes to the lyrics is perfectly described in the album title ‘’Divine Blight’’, which is a wordplay on ‘’Divine Right’’ where kings etc. meant they were chosen by god and had more worth than other people. ‘’Divine Blight’’ is the band’s dismay in such thinking, implying that all of humanity is equal and we are all equally responsible for all the fucked up shit that’s happening in this world.

An electrically charged exhibit of melodic death metal with a generous helping of technical riffs, Féleth takes their music seriously, but not themselves. They are recommended for fans of Archspire, Fit For An Autopsy and Inferi.

The lyric video for “USA” ft. Petter Carlsen can be seen and heard at https://youtu.be/7jURKrmgt0M

The album “Divine Blight” comes out on November 11, 2022.

““Majesty” is an exciting introduction to the differing styles and techniques that Féleth intertwine in their songwriting, drawing together ingredients from technical and melodic death metal in a white-hot rush that nevertheless is home to some bone-smashing grooves. “Avarice” puts those genre ingredients on display again, but expands the musical palette and makes the song an even ore multi-faceted and atmospheric experience. With no room to gasp a breath, the song explodes in a flurry of fleet-fingered, fret-leaping guitar work, neck-cracking drumming, and flame-throwing vocal intensity. But groaning chords and shrill, eerie melodic overtones also create dark and deleterious moods, building tension and fear. While the vocals are utterly unhinged in their madness (and doubled in the chorus for extra intensity), squirming guitar arpeggios create a different dimension of insanity, coupled with agony, and martial drum patterns and a misery-steeped closing solo add to the song’s relentless dynamism. On top of all that, the song also punches like a heavyweight fighter.” – No Clean Singing (Divine Blight 2022)

“Depravity the newest album from Feleth is one brutal album full of riffs and hooks to keep even the most particular entertained. Feleth mix the roots of the Norwegian metal scene, with the death metal tone they strive for to create some well crafted blackened death metal, similar to that of Shadow of Intent.” – Metal Injection (Depravity 2020)

“With a melting pot of ideas, yet rooted in delivering a head-smashing and neck-destroying style of metal, Féleth are aggressive newcomers to a scene that constantly looks to surprise… Féleth deliver heavy and extreme noise so very well.” 9/10 – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life (Depravity 2020)

“straight up heaviness and brutality, tech offerings and melodic atmopsheres, and enjoyable groove.” – Dead Rhetoric (Depravity 2020)

“Féleth: Transcends the traditional limits of the genre…” – Permafrost.today (Depravity 2020)

“9/10 “Féleth offer an edge-of-your-seat experience that is both fresh and captivating.” – Metal Inferno (Depravity 2020)

“Féleth does death metal fast and aggressive, reigning in their impressive technical chops for maximum impact, keeping their riffs (and songs, for that matter) relatively short and to the point. They strike a pretty even balance between chunky chords and caustic melodies, most of which are designed to coax headbanging than to impress with virtuosity. The album is front-loaded with catchy bangers, saving the more technical and weird bits for the latter half.” – Tolet Ov Hell (Depravity 2020)

“Mythos” is the second release from Canada’s Hunting Giants following their 2018 EP “Skyward Eyes”. They have upped the ante with this new record, offering bigger riffs, wilder stories, and more layers to entangle listeners. In the wake of the album release, they are now showcasing an animated video for the instrumental single “Whispers”, which replaces vocals with grand piano for a haunting and mysterious atmosphere. The band comments on the album:

“Mythos is the crowning achievement of our musical work as a band and we are incredibly excited to finally share it. This album is the product of years of writing and recording while gigging and enduring as a band under quarantine. We have crafted thirteen energetic tracks with diverse emotional and thematic textures. Our team has worked incredibly hard on this album, from pre-production, through the recording, mixing, and mastering process. We give special thanks to our producer Kirby J. Kaye for his wisdom and patience. Mythos is a mosaic of archetypes; an exploration of varying values and beliefs and the results that these actions have upon our lives, all set within a context of mythological fantasy.”

Hunting Giants was formed around the idea of taking the rich experience of progressive metal and compacting it into short and lean hard rock songs that quickly get to the point without losing the punch and depth the genre is known for. Their songs are absolutely a collaborative effort. Where each member of the band has a voice, and no one has veto power. They bounce ideas off each other frequently and build things together early in the songwriting process and the result is music far beyond what any of them could individually make.

Influenced mainly by progressive metal and groove metal, Hunting Giants also looks to other genres from glam rock to classical. They are recommended for fans of Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, and Audioslave.

“A glorious adventure is about to begin, starting right here today! Heavy metallers Hunting Giants are debuting their brand new music video for “Rituals,” the first single from their upcoming album Mythos. The song indicates the zeal and the ambition that the band is bringing towards this new record, due for release on September 30th. The “Rituals” video matches the flat-out intensity of the song, one that discusses necromancy and the harshness of hatred and shame.” – V13

“It’s not often that a band is described as ‘a blend of modern hard rock, progressive rock/metal and grunge influences,’ but that is indeed a fitting description of Vancouver’s Hunting Giants” – Bravewords

“Let me say this first, HUNTING GIANTS from Vancouver are REALLY freaking good. These guys are relatively new but they are tighter and more accomplished man many veteran bands.” – Rock You Show

“This is an album (Mythos) that you’ll want to wander through thanks to their technical proficiency and the production value.” – Metal Roos

“a solid listen, and a fairly unique combination of a few different styles. It’s mostly heavy enough for Metal fans, and mostly melodic enough for fans like myself who appreciate a good hook.” – Metal Temple

Montreal, QC – October 14, 2022

Wall of Sound Records – 7MND Announces Deeply, Introspective Progressive Single “Verge of Collapse” Off “Cataclysm”

7MND is the solo project of Bahrain’s Hamad Ebrahim Hamad. It started when he was in his late teens, and it was very different from what it is now, but in spirit, the idea behind it is the same: making music that he feels represents him best. It started out as an electronic/experimental project as he first began dabbling in music production, and then it shifted more towards a progressive metal direction. Now it becomes a playground where he fuses all his inspirations together, tells stories through, and conveys emotion. 7MND now has a second EP “Cataclysm” about to be unleashed on the world, and Hamad is introducing it with the single “Verge of Collapse”:

“The single is initially very groove-driven, and then it dives into a roaring cacophony of emotions. The dark, and the honestly vulnerable start of the journey. It lays out the feelings of the main character of the story, how he feels about the world he inhabits, and how heavy the weight of it all feels on his shoulders. It represents nowadays mind’s vortex, complexity, and mystery, melodic guitars mixed with beautiful electronics that don’t necessarily scream out but are buried inside with a hint of craziness, creating layers of melodies, “Verge of Collapse” is a great example of how metal/rock music evolved into something more technical yet with a soul, it is a new genre of its own in the Middle East, a new direction in music writing.” says Hamad.

“Cataclysm” is a concept EP where every track flows into the other like one long song, Hamad hopes to give the listener a journey through the story he tells, one that is easy to relate to, and one that they will find comfort in, through all its relatable moments. He says that he can only hope that it’s a cathartic listen, or one that evokes any type of emotional response, whether in body, mind, or heart.

Emotionally heavy, deeply layered, and introspective, Hamad likes to draw inspiration from both his personal experiences and the stories that fill his life from games, TV shows, and movies. 7MND is recommended for fans of The Contortionist, Stephan Bodzin, and Between the Buried and Me.

7MND‘s “Cataclysm” is due out on November 18, 2022.

EP as a whole explained:

Seeing as it’s a concept EP where every track flows into the other like one long song, I hope to give the listener a journey through the story I tell, that they can relate to it, and find comfort in knowing that if they feel the same, they are not alone. I can only hope that it’s a cathartic listen, or one that evokes any type of emotional response, whether in body, mind, or heart.

Track by Track Explained

Introspect
This is the start of the journey. The narrator is burdened by the weight of the world, and all the issues that plague the world, he feels everyone’s pain as if it’s his own. The track is a blend of melancholy soundscapes, static stabs of synths, and erratic pulses of hard-hitting electronic beats.

Verge of Collapse
The narrator feels overwhelmed, frustrated, and fatigued. He roams aimlessly like an empty husk. This track digs more into the emotional state of the narrator, and how all his negative feelings turn into rage, which is only directed inwards. It’s an angry piece that starts with a hard-hitting groove, goes into an ambient electronic pre-chorus, and leads to a huge, open, and painful chord-filled chorus. It then goes into a more discordant and confusing section, as if pondering on the decisions he has to make, and ends with a final blend of all the elements in the song, lamenting on his rage one final time.

A Light, A Door
The narrator is now at odds. A portal opens up in front of him and he has the choice of changing his course and heading to a different, maybe more hopeful and beautiful place. This track starts with an ambient and questioning section and then goes into a heavier section exploring the same theme. It ends with a tension-filled break and a dark and mammoth-like breakdown.

Dream/Infinite
A choice is made, and our main character goes into the portal and finds himself in a beautiful and happier place. The track explores his emotions by circling between joy and hidden heartache in a trancing energetic and melody-filled intro. His brief comfort slowly starts to fade, as he finds that despite the beauty he’s found, an ugly side always awaits. The ambient and melancholy section breaks into a huge chorus, which is the most subtle and traditional part of the EP. It then leads into a heavy breakdown filled with dissonance, as if channeling the character’s admittance of defeat, a chaotic and angry state. The final section blends all the musical motifs explored in the album, calling back to the earlier feelings he felt during the very beginning.

(No One Left To) Mourn
As our narrator loses his mind, it breaks the universe apart. All life ceases to exist. The final track is a eulogy for everyone and everything. It’s a hushed, melancholic, dark, almost orchestral, and electronic piece that digs back into the main musical motif of the EP. The song serves as a final breath, painting the ending of the story.

Rockshots Records – EVERFROST’s New Video Is “Hacking To The Gate” ft. Shironeko

New Anime Cover Song EP “Frostbites” Out November 2022

Finnish symphonic power metal band Everfrost is sharing their next single “Hacking To The Gate” ft. Shiro Neko from their forthcoming EP of anime cover songs entitled “Frostbites”, which is due out on November 11th via Rockshots Records.

The band adds about the track:

“Steins; Gate is one of the highest-ranked anime series of all time and its opening song ‘Hacking to the Gate’ has become one of those unskippable OPs beloved by many anime fans. We chose this track for our anime covers-EP ‘Frostbites’ as a nice surprise and also a chance to explore our capabilities as a band, as the song contains some quite unorthodox stylistic elements. This is an emotional show centered around science fiction, electronics, and most importantly time travel, so the song’s mix of colorful chords, strange sounds, and sci-fi-inspired effects create a thick, melancholic aesthetic that fits the theme perfectly. Our goal was to capture this and revamp it authentically in our powerful style. This definitely made it the most intricate and time-consuming track to put together, such as a piece like this deserves.

For the vocals on this track, we had the pleasure of working with the insanely talented Shiro Neko, known for her incredible anime vocal covers on Youtube and working with other artists. Her vocal tone and impeccable Japanese pronunciation were essential in delivering this song. One aspect of the Frostbites EP we haven’t talked about much is the larger investment made in production this time around. From the time put into pre-production to the studios we used, up until the mixing and mastering processes, care was taken to bring the EVERFROST sound to a whole new level. Hacking to the Gate proved to be the song to showcase perhaps the best of all the tracks.”

EVERFROST is a Finnish symphonic power metal band known for incorporating Japanese anime and manga influences into their music, visuals, and storytelling.

Metal fans and anime enthusiasts alike have described EVERFROST numerous times as the band they were always looking for as the music is created from a passionate desire to energize you, make you happy, and take you away from the struggles of everyday life.

The familiar influences of classic and modern Finnish heavy metal (Nightwish, Beast in Black, Sonata Arctica, Wintersun, etc) are present in the EVERFROST sound, however, the band’s trademark wintery style combined with elements from non-metal genres such as Eurobeat, dance-pop and anime music bring a unique freshness to the mix. The result is an addictive cocktail that has proven to find its way into a wide variety of playlists, DJ sets, parties, and live events.

Another big reason people fall in love with EVERFROST is because of how immersive the band’s universe is. Each album features ongoing stories of a group of characters living in a cursed city, sealed off from the world. The concept is inspired by the ‘secret cities’ experiments established during the Cold War.

The band’s latest full-length album ‘Winterider’ was in particular quite a unique release in the metal world, being a concept album featuring this world and characters in a fully coherent manga comic, following the story and working in tandem with the songs. It received critical acclaim and high scores from multiple well-known metal media outlets such as Kaaoszine, Powerplay Magazine, Bravewords, and Tuonela Magazine.

“9/10 The next great power metal band.” – BRAVEWORDS

The album also made it to Disk UNION Japan’s top 10 charts for two weeks, charting at number 1 for the first week.
The band also won Tuonela Magazine’s ‘best new discovery’ award for 2019.

While the music may sound energetic and cheery, the lyrical themes are usually dark, melancholic, and vulnerable, dealing often with escapism through fantasy and entertainment, death and loss, social isolation, and hardship. These feelings and ideas are manifested in the stories and characters, however, the core inspiration stems from how cruel and cold the real world can be at times. This combination of happy music with sad lyrics empowers listeners in whatever stage they are going through or have been through in their lives.

The band features keyboardist and songwriter Benji Klint-Connelly, guitarists Samuli Heiskanen and Joose Ylianttila, bassist Roi Partanen and drummer Jope ‘James’ Salminen. Past members have included vocalists Hew Wagner and Mikael Salo (Thy Row, Dyecrest). The band has also featured and worked with many other esteemed musicians such as Rob Lundgren (Mentalist, Reveal), Yannis Papadopoulos (Beast in Black), Asim Searah (Damnation Plan, ex-Wintersun), Sara Strömmer (Shereign, ex-Fear of Domination) and Bini Silvennoinen (Blame Me!).

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – October 14, 2022

Rockshots Records – Out Now! VICTORIA K’s New Album “Kore” + Music Video “Pomegranate”

Australia’s Victoria K‘s new sophomore album “Kore” is now available via Rockshots Records and to celebrate its release day today, the band is sharing their new music video for the track “Pomegranate”, which was the first song that was developed for the album

The band explains the track:

“Being the first song we wrote for the record, the whole album’s sound ended up being based on this one song. Certain parts of this song take reference again from old ethnic folk sounds and scales. We wanted to incorporate ethnic instruments such as the hammered dulcimer and touberleki, (the Greek hand drum), both of these sounds directly come from Victoria Knight’s upbringing, and we are really proud to incorporate this old and ethnic culture into our music in order to create a new sonic experience. The section of the tale that this song derives from the part of the story where Persephone eats the six pomegranate seeds, ultimately keeping her trapped in Hades for 6 months each year. We wanted to capture the feeling and emotions that come from this part of the story through the sound and lyrics. The feeling of being utterly trapped, lost, and in a state of desperation. One thing that we believe makes this song a point of difference from the rest of the album is the monologue in the song, which is taken directly from the original ancient Greek text (Homeric Hymn to Demeter) that tells this part of the story. We wanted to add a piece of authentic history to the record!”

Watch and listen to “Pomegranate” – https://youtu.be/LPRf59SBIfM

Victoria K’s new album “Kore” explores modern-day issues through the Homeric Hymn to Demeter (the story of Persephone). Victoria K conceptualized the idea for the album with her producer Lee Bradshaw and then spent many months researching and analyzing the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, even meeting with experts of the Homeric Hymns from Greece. The story was then broken up into its different parts where Victoria Knight wrote the lyrics and developed the melodies for each section of the tale, exploring the myth from a modern perspective.

The tracks were written specifically to encapsulate the various sections of the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and tell the story chronologically through each song and the music grows in intensity throughout the record capturing the emotional state of Persephone and other characters as the story progresses.

The various instruments on “Kore” were then written by Victoria Knight around the lyrics and further enhanced and developed through the production process. Lee Bradshaw then finalized the songs by writing orchestral scores for each song, which were recorded live in Europe, before the final mixing and mastering.

“We wanted to take a new approach with this record and to grow our sound and bring something new to Victoria K. Incorporating sounds from our vocalist’s ethnic culture and heritage is something we are so extremely proud of! A concept album is something we really wanted to explore, and we are so excited to bring you this ancient story and create a sonic experience and journey for all our listeners. We cannot wait to share this new stage of Victoria K!” adds Knight.

Recommended for fans of Lacuna Coil, Rammstein, Within Temptation, Spirit Box, and Delain, Victoria K‘s new album “Kore” is due out October 14, 2022 from Rockshots Records.

About:

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, symphonic metal singer/songwriter Victoria Knight (under the pseudonym Victoria K) released on the 5th of May, 2019, her brand new single “Lacuna” distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Warner Music Group (Australia), which was the first offering from her debut album Essentia.

As a result of being invited to support the Swiss Folk Metal giants Eluveitie Victoria K formed the current band who have adopted the name Victoria K. On the 18th of May, 2019, Victoria K played the main support for Eluveitie at their Melbourne show, and produced a performance that had the crowd chanting for an encore.

Victoria K signed to Rockshots Records (Italy) in early 2020 and released their debut album ‘Essentia’ on the 24th of April, 2020. Essentia has received global media attention and the band has been featured in Legacy Magazine (Germany) and Heavy Magazine (Australia) amongst many others.

Essentia debuted at #17 on the Australian iTunes Rock & Metal Charts with the four Music Videos (Lacuna, Forsaken, The Haunting and Matrix) receiving over 230,000 YouTube views.

Victoria K’s ‘Essentia’ won Album of the Year in the Femmetal Awards 2020 and was a finalist in the Best Band and Best Music Video categories and Victoria Knight was a finalist in the Best Operatic Vocals category.

Victoria was also nominated as ‘Best Vocalist’ in the Metalgoddesses.com awards named amongst the best vocalists of the genre including Floor Jansen, Elize Ryde, Fabienne Erni and Charlotte Wessels. “I have always loved a good concept album being a Prog head at heart and there are lots of progressive metal records floating around the constant stream of modern metal. But for me, none so well produced, performed and as inspired as this one. If you’re looking to dip your toes into the waters of concept albums this is most defiantly the one to try. It’s not dry or heavy going like some and you don’t need to have a degree in Astrophysics to enjoy it. Long gone the image of thick-rimmed glassed music professors in flares noodling around in impossible time signatures. Now there is new blood, new energy and WHAT a voice, it truly has left me with goosebumps. This young talent from Melbourne Australia is really going places. And I for one will be really keen to see quite how far she can go.” (Kore) – Metal Roos

“a really enjoyable record (Kore)” – Sentinel Daily

“Victoria K. are refreshingly different and very profound on “Kore”. Symphonic Metal gets a breath of fresh air here, both lyrically and musically.” (Kore) – Dark Divas

““A Divine Revelation”, is one of my favorites off this album. Victoria’s depth of character and love for this story can be felt with every note she sings. She is “alive” in this story as if it were real. You can feel it in her vocal delivery. So much time and effort was put into delivering the lyrics and story in just the right way. I take my hat off to her and the band for trying to bring such a powerful story to life with music. She sings in Greek to add to the authenticity of this masterpiece.” (Kore) – Progressive Rock Central

“How nice it is that the power in her voice does not decrease, but increases. No high warbling but pure power. Just listen to ‘A Divine Revelation’ for example. Do you like bands with their own sound and who know how to bring something new? Then put this on.” (Kore) – Arrow Lords of Metal

“Lovers of symphonic metal listen up… because Victoria K is about to put Australia on the map.” – Heavy Magazine
