Vancouver, BC’s WITHOUT MERCY have teamed with Metal Nation Radio for the premiere of their next guitar playthrough for their track‘Worthless’, one of four songs on the band’s new EP ‘Mouichido’, which the band recently completed a Canadian tour in support of this past June.
“The whole theme of Mouichido was about my return to my martial arts roots to help cope with the stress and B.S.” explains guitarist DJ Temple ” When it came time to shoot this video, I thought it would be rad to call up my friends from MAMBA MMA and see if they would like to be a part of it. With the way it turned out, I’m stoked as hell about it! Being able to include my friends in this sort of thing has always been a goal of mine!”
To watch the guitar playthrough for ‘Worthless’, please visit the following link on Metal Nation Radio: http://metalnationradio.ca/without-mercy-playthrough-worthless/

The band’s new EP ‘Mouichido’ is a rebirth for the band as it’s a re-release of re-recorded material from their 2014 EP ‘Reborn’. ‘Mouichido’ is the Japanese word for “Repeat” or “to do one more time” and is perfectly titled for the EP to signify its re-release of previously recorded versions that now feature new vocalist Alex Friis and bass tracks recorded by Tristan Martin plus live performance being done by Ryan Loewen along with a guest appearance by vocalist Mark Hunter of Chimaira on track ‘In Waves’.
In additional news, the band will be performing at this year’s Loud As Hell Fest in Drumheller, AB on July 31st (set time 7:30pm). This year’s line up includes Unleash The Archers, Striker, Into Eternity, Ninjaspy, Divinity, West of Hell, Disciples of Power and more! For full details, please visit www.LoudAsHell.com.

About:
Tenacity, work ethic and originality. There’s no excuses anymore.
Vancouver-based Without Mercy certainly stays true to its name. Ruthless and menacing, these Canadian metal titans have cultivated and redefined the phrase, “Fuck Pussy Metal”.
Founded in 2004, Without Mercy has gone from strength to strength over the years. They released their first EP “All Else Fails” in 2007 completely independently and used its humble beginnings to start the catapulting of performances, internet presence and radio play. In 2009, Without Mercy went on to record their self-titled full length album using the same team that worked on records by Devin Townsend, Mudvayne, and Marilyn Manson. Without Mercy rode the attention wave of their self-titled debut, using the escalation to begin a relentless performance schedule that would lead them far from their hometown and include over 200 live performances. No stranger to tenacity, in only a few short years Without Mercy have achieved; being the only indie metal band in Western Canada to have two tracks available on Rock Band 3, being featured in Tattoo Savage Magazine, and pioneering the phrases, ‘You Smell Like A Bitch’ and ‘Fuck Pussy Metal’ – which have now become synonymous with the band.
In 2014, Without Mercy unleashed third studio release, “Reborn”. Another massive evolution for the band, Without Mercy sought to bring back the organic metal sound and combine it with a high production standard. Fast forward to 2016, some line up changes with a new vocalist and bassist, the band is ready to share with fans re-recorded material from ‘Reborn’ on their new EP ‘Mouichido’ that even features Chimaira vocalist Mark Hunter on their track ‘In Waves’. The EP is set to be unleashed on May 27th, 2016 and will be supported with a steady rotation of touring and appearances across Canada and the USA. All of course, independently.

In additional news, PSYCHOSTICK are returning for their second UK tour and they’re bringing their friends, the legendary Green Jellÿ for the ‘PsychoJellÿ Tour’. The tour will be from September 13th to October 1st to satisfy the hunger and bring more of ‘Beer’, ‘Obey The Beard’, ‘Dogs Like Socks’, ‘Bruce Campbell’, ‘Do Want A Taco?’ among many other tracks to be performed live for the fans!
Green Jellÿ (pronounced “green jello”) started more than 30 years ago and has had over 400 band member changes, plus has sold over 2 million records to keep fans still knocking heads!
The band has had hundreds of members during its lifetime, with Bill Manspeaker the only consistent member throughout. The lineup during their most popular album release, ‘Cereal Killer’ is typically referenced as it contained several musicians who went on to appear in other major 1990s bands, such as Danny Carey and Maynard James Keenan of Tool. Green Jellÿ is best known for ‘The Three Little Pigs’, a #1 selling single on Billboard with a Grammy nominated music video.
Formed in 1981 in Kenmore, NY, by founding member Bill Manspeaker, the band was originally named Green Jellö, but changed the name due to legal pressure from the owners of the Jell-O trademark, Kraft Foods, who claimed that it was an infringement of their trademark. Throughout the early 80’s, Green Jellÿ performed throughout New York, opening for bands like the Ramones and New York Dolls. Their reputation for over-the-top live performances and food-hurling audiences got them banned from most local venues. A full bio can be found here.

About:
Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they’ve coined as ‘humorcore’. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.
Now residing in Chicago, IL, the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory Psychostick have released four full-length albums–‘We Couldn’t Think of a Title’ (2006), ‘Sandwich’ (2009), ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D’ (2011) and ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance’ (2014)—and two EPs—their holiday album, ‘The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride’ (2007), and ‘The Digital Appetizer’. With their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic) their most recent offering, the crowd-funded ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance‘ includes the beard anthem ‘Obey the Beard’ and popular ‘Dogs Like Socks’, ‘Quack Kills’, ‘So. Heavy.’, ‘Blue Screen’, and a tribute to the 21st century’s most beloved action super hero, ‘Bruce Campbell’. Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

Out Now! VOW OF THORNS Release New Album ‘Farewell To The Sun’
Canadian Tour Dates w/ Ashbringer

Currently on their Ontario / Quebec tour with Minnesota’s Ashbringer (remaining dates listed below), London, ON’s black metal doom fusionists VOW OF THORNS‘ new album ‘Farewell To The Sun’ is now available as of July 15th on iTunes, all major online retailers and Bandcamp, where it is streaming in full at the following link: https://vowofthorns.bandcamp.com/album/farewell-to-the-sun
The album features six atmospheric tracks (mixed and mastered by Jason Walton of Agalloch) pairing the forces of black metal and doom, where the band blends the two styles with ease while maintaining a certain sense of tension and uncertainty in the air. The band is constantly shifting between disparaging black metal vocals and triumphant guitar hooks dripping with doom-encrusted bass riffs and theatrical drums. Lyrically, the vocals act like a lone wolf trailing off into a forest unwilling to look back and focusing only on what despair lay ahead.
One is able to catch a glimpse of each influence in VOW OF THORNS songwriting and their influences including Woods of Ypres, Agalloch, Drudkh, Opeth, Daylight Dies, and Wolves in the Throne Room. The band is on a journey that slowly takes on darker, lucid, and more despairing elements as they play more shows and write more records.

About:
VOW OF THORNS once served as an anagram for guitarist Kevin Hawthorne’s solo work, now a joint effort with fellow guitarist Dustin Richards, the duo has quickly become one of the most intimidating musical ventures to date. For the past 6 years, the band has been conceptualizing albums and pushing the boundary between aggressive and emotional. Songs are constructed unanimously and without interruption in a seamless writing process to craft work fueled by their musical and environmental influences. Live, the band pays attention to the sonic experience with complimentary rhythm that creates a unique blend of intensity and atmosphere.

Saskatoon Extreme Noisemakers ADOLYNE (No List Records) Update Western Canadian Dates

Saskatoon’s extreme noise rock brawlers ADOLYNE (featuring Skot Hamilton from Ken mode) announce they will be performing show dates in Western Canada (dates listed below).
The band is performing in support of their latest album ‘of Ash / of Shit / of Shame’ unleashed in 2015 via No List Records.

Tour Dates (more dates to be announced):
For more info, please visit https://www.facebook.com/Adolyne-6201859627/
About:
After a series of false-starts, unceremonious firings and infantile rows, Adolyne officially assembled about a dozen years ago as a means to keep warm through the endless prairie winter that they were either too dumb to abandon or stubborn to admit defeat to. Less a product of their surroundings than a direct reaction to artistic absences in their immediate vicinity, the band spent their initial years harnessing vulgar sonic philosophy and a reactionary base-level onslaught into one of the most incendiary live shows in Western Canada. Noise-rock petulance, post-hardcore abandon, and a spiraling metallic thrust collide violently in to an animal that is as much merciless volume worship as it is nightmarish existential crisis.
Adolyne incites an ugly musical knife fight between 90’s Noise mongers from the heavier end of the Amphetamine Reptile fold and the brooding sonic theorists of the Hydra Head Industries class, while assorted voices from the post-hardcore and math-rock crowds goad them on with unsavory and dangerous advice. For those who haven’t the time or stomach to be entirely educated on the background of this savage rumble though, journalist and filmmaker Craig Silliphant was best able to express what to expect from Adolyne in his review which warned “Adolyne is a cathartic, primal force that will tear down your soul and spit it in your face….. It’s usually a cliché to say something defies categorization, but I’ll take a punch in the face before I’ll offer a definitive description of the music that Adolyne makes. It’s best to just get the hell out of the way.

“We are very excited to be performing at Metalocolypstick Fest. There is such a limited presence of women in rock and metal so we’re really looking forward to meeting all the other bands over the weekend. This is an important festival being that the majority of festivals we perform at are male dominated, usually we’re the only female led band on the bill. We’re looking forward to watching the other bands and encourage people to come out to beautiful BC to take part in the festival.” comments vocalist Kami Van Halst of Van Halst.Metalocalypstick Festival will be one of VAN HALST‘s stops during their Western Canadian tour presented by PureGrainAudio.com. MEDEVIL Unleash ‘Machination Factory’ Off Upcoming Debut ‘Conductor of Storms’ Out Aug 26th

L-R – Eric Wesa (Bass/Backup Vocals), Ross Collingwood (Drums), Liam Collingwood (Vocals), Gary Cordsen (Lead Guitar), Brett Gibbs (Rhythm Guitar)
Chilliwack, BC’s heavy metallers MEDEVIL will be unleashing their debut album‘Conductor of Storms’ on August 26th with much anticipation from the Canadian scene after placing as a national finalist (top 6) during the 2015 Wacken Metal Battle Canada. With influences from legends such as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Accept and Metal Church, MEDEVIL have taken their self-described ‘power thrash’ full of blistering fast riffs, strong choruses and vocalist Liam Colingwood’s impressive vocals (you can swear is Udo Dirkschneider from a distance) to present a debut of eight anthem chanting tracks.
The band’s first single ‘Machination Factory’ is now streaming at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF6_AE7UCg4

For more info, please visit: www.medevilmusic.com.
It is one of the most magical moments in a band’s life when they release their debut album. We can only imagine what Kerry King and Tom Araya felt like on the eve of ‘Show No Mercy’ being unleashed on the world, or the excitement that must have coursed through Steve Harris and Dave Murray as their self-titled debut was about to escape into an unsuspecting and never to be the same again world.
Well, Medevil don’t just imagine it…their debut album ‘Conductor of Storms’ is about to explode in a blast of metallic thunder and lightning upon the earth.
Hailing from Chiliwack, BC, Medevil are a hard-working progressive band, constantly striving to improve their songs, a fact not missed by Wacken Metal Battle Canada, where Medevil made the top 6!
Band vocalist Liam Collingwood explains the band’s memorable moniker. ‘The band name was thought up by Eric and fits our style of music perfectly.’
Liam is very serious about the bands modus operandi. ‘Medevil formed as a creative outlet for each member. The goal of our band is to satisfy our creative desires, while maintaining our standard of quality and to expand our knowledge of music as a whole. In five words, I’d sum up our music as power/thrash/prog/heavy metal.’
Liam says if he had to pick one Medevil track to represent the band it would be ‘the song ‘Machination Factory’ as it is one of the heavier songs on the album and it’s also the newest song that we wrote so it’s fresher in our heads. We wanted to release something first that would be a good start at representing our band even though future songs may.’
Liam reveals that song-writing is very much a collaborative effort. ‘We normally have a bunch of riff ideas ourselves and then we all come together to complete our vision…We all take part in the writing. All the songs have some sort of collaboration going on, even though some may be very minor alterations. We try to collaborate on projects as much as possible without destroying the original vision.’
While the band collaborates strongly on the music, the lyrics are Liam’s department, as you’d expect. ‘Lyrics are normally written based on an emotion or a story I am thinking of at the time that I want to project. Although sometimes I have some melodies in my head that I really like which I try to put into my lyrics. Some songs are more about a story I am telling whether fictional or somewhat true. Others are about a feeling or emotion I am feeling at the time and can be hidden beneath metaphors.’
Liam is proud that Medevil have a high level of quality control when it comes to their music. ‘In total we probably scrapped eight songs in favour of the ones included on the album. Our early sound, from 2011-2014, was mostly a rock-esque type of metal. ‘In The Distance’, ‘The Angel of Rain’ and ‘A Sacrifice’ are all from the early days of the band. When we included Brett and Gary in the band in 2014, we started leaning towards a much faster and more progressive style.’
A similar level of thought went into the track listing. ‘The track listing was a long task, it was most decided based on what we thought was the best listening experience for our fans and for how we like to set up our live shows with some changes. Fans can expect new material in the coming years and regular tours once or twice a year.’
Liam rates the bands live show highly. ‘People can expect a refined sound from us as well as a powerful energy, and a good connection between the band members. Fans can tell we are a band of friends!’
Liam reveals that the letter ‘M’ is very significant in Medevil’s top five influences, which are ‘Metalica, Megadeth, Mastodon, Metal Church, and Iron Maiden!’
And now we can add Medevil to that proud list of bands beginning with M who all released powerful a debut album.
