EPK – Decerebration – Follow The Scars (2021)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

““We started in the early 90s. We were kids that didn’t know what they were doing besides writing what we thought were good death metal songs with typical death metal lyrics. More than 20 years have passed since our last release of new music, and we wanted to show how we have evolved as persons and musicians. We wanted to stay true to our old school death metal roots while adding new elements to our music such as clean vocals. We really like the music we were able to write for the new album. We think old fans and new fans will find something for them in our new songs and we can’t wait for them to hear the album. “Follow the Scars” is also a look into our personal lives over the past twenty years lyrically. The lyrics are not the typical death metal lyrics we used to write. Not because we want to deny our past but because we wanted to talk about the issues we faced in our lives. Just like the music the lyrics are a product of how we have matured and evolved as human beings and musicians. We wanted the lyrics to reflect that.” – Decerebration

“If you aren’t familiar with Decerebration but enjoy the likes of Suffocation or Cannibal Corpse, you should find this an interesting and rewarding listen, and you can’t fail to be inspired by the positivity out of adversity message behind the release either.” – Metal Talk

“‘Follow the Scars’ feels like a record designed to destroy live shows, obliterate necks and pits, and it does that with fucking triumph.” – The Killchain Blog

“solid riffs in here, and the thick bass really lifts this album up a lot.” – Metal Epidemic

“Decerebration fut pour moi une TRÈS belle découverte. 8.5/10” Ondes Chocs

“neuf titres de death metal rustiques et mal dégrossis, pas forcément très brutaux mais épais comme un bon gruau.” – Soil Chronicles

“Follow the Scars” rolls forward and whatever gets in its way, it buries uncompromisingly alive, dismembers and destroys. It’s like an old rusty bulldozer that has stood aside for years, only to be revived, greased with tainted blood and called back into service. On its side, like the coffin mentioned in the introduction, it bears the inscription DECEREBRATION. I confess that, even if I crawl into some dark corner, this is my first encounter with the band. I really enjoy the album; it brings out the dark side in me. I’m so glad that the Canadian beast has come to life again. Mark “Follow the Scars” with a high-quality mark! Morbid death metal exhumed from old graves! Well, done!” – Deadly Storm Zine

===========================================

The album as a whole explained by the band:

Follow the Scars is a very personal album lyrically. We wanted to use our personal life experiences to write the lyrics of the songs. We felt it was important to do so instead of going the typical death metal lyric route. Musically we wanted to keep our old school death metal roots and have slammy and melodic parts to the songs. We wanted to showcase how a death metal musician can evolve over the years after being exposed to many different genres of music and showcase that in some of our songs. For example, the clean vocal chorus in Follow the Scars. We also wanted more structured songs and not a dozen different riffs glued together the make a song, as we did before.

Track by Track explained by the band:

1. Scorched Memories: This is the intro. It is about someone entering their own mind. It is also about not being able to let go of the past and what’s dragging you down, the sound of the chains is an example of that. The melody in the intro is also a riff in the first song, this is intentional. We wanted to set the table.

2. Infamous Duality: The first single off the album. Infamous Duality is about having to choose between a comfortable but unhappy life and leaving that comfort to live the life you are meant to live. Musically, there is a lot of old-school death metal influence. We wanted the single to show we are still Decerebration!!

3. A Ghost of Flesh and Blood: Another old-school death metal song, which represents our style of writing very well. Melodic and heavy riffs mixed together to make a song. Lyrically, this song is about personal relationships. It is about being with someone that is not good for you while at the same time being around another person that would be right for you. You see this person but until you leave the other relationship, this person is a ghost…of flesh and blood.

4. Follow the Scars: Musically, this song has a clean vocal chorus. It is the first song in the album where you can hear our musical evolution. It starts with fast, thrash metal riffs and goes into heavy, slammy verses. There is also a very simple breakdown in the middle of the song. Lyrically, Follow the Scars is about going through a traumatic event, like sickness, for example, beating it and coming out stronger than you were before. The scars are meant to show the battle you fought.

5. Break the Cycle: “Break the Cycle” is about being able to let go of the past and stop repeating the same behaviors the keep bringing you down. It’s a very straightforward, fast, in your face kind of song. At the same time, it incorporates slower and more melodic riffs and blast beat riffs, something that represents Decerebration well.

6. The Factless Prophecy: “Factless” lyrics were written at the height of COVID. It is about people being mindlessly led by political leaders and accepting everything as fact without questioning. Again, this is a song that represents Decerebration’s style well, melody and heaviness. Fun musical fact, some riffs in the song were written in the late 90s and never used until now!!

7. The Gift of Anger: This is a very heavy song. We decided the step outside the box with this one by having a clean vocal bridge and vocal harmonies over clean guitar right after. It is a slow and heavy song about using anger as a tool to better yourself and “ascend” to another level instead of self-destruction.

8. I Despise: Probably the most violent song on the album. Musically, it starts with fast thrashy verses to a more melodic chorus. It has a heavy breakdown in the middle that leads into a fast, blast beat bridge. It is violent because the lyrics themselves are. It is about realizing that you are responsible for staying in a bad relationship for years and not doing anything about it. Basically, “I Despise” is someone talking to themselves.

9.  L.T.E.I: It’s an abbreviation for Libera Temet Ex Infernis. It means “free yourself from hell” in Latin. The outro is a darker beginning and the end is happier melodically. This is meant to show what happens when you literally free yourself from things that are bad for you.

STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS ABOUT THE BAND

1. “Follow the Scars” is the first album of new songs in more than 20 years. It is also a very personal album because they talk about their lives and what happened to them for the past 20 years. They also chose to incorporate clean vocals in some of their new songs, something that they had never done before. They felt going off the beaten past for once would be a good thing. In the end, they are very proud to share “Follow the Scars” with the world, old and new fans alike.

2. The recording process for “Follow the Scars” was brand new for them. They tracked the guitar, drums and bass at home using Cubase. Very different from when they had to go for days in a studio to track the instruments. It allowed them to take their time and make sure they delivered their best instrument playing.

3. François C. Fortin of the studio La Boîte Noire in Quebec City really took the band’s sound to the next level. They never thought they could sound like this in a million years. His talent as a sound engineer and producer mixed with the new technologies available made that possible.

4. Even after 20 years, the core of the band is still the same (Fudz, Julien, Nicolas and Olivier). Mathieu, a long-time friend was welcomed in the band in 2011 when they got back together to play some shows. Decerebration is more than just a band to them, it is a family, and they don’t think the band could work with different people in it.

5.  Fun fact: Their drummer plays exclusively on a Roland V-Drum, even at shows. They can practice in a smaller room at a lower volume and the drum sound is always perfect. The drum sound at shows is awesome too. People are doubtful before they begin the show, but after the first few notes, they forget it’s a V-Drum.

6. The band was stripped search by U.S. customs on their first (and only) border crossing as a band to play a show in Virginia in 1993. They eventually let them through, but as 17-18-year-old kids, they were petrified. Makes a good story though!!

Canada’s Death Perception released a blisteringly fast album this year, entitled “Ashes”, off which, they have recently released a music video for the single “Ashes To Mourn”. Although the band typically doesn’t stray from the death metal formula they have been finessing over the years, they incorporate some black metal vibes into this single, a dash of bleak melodies to highlight the pain that comes through in the lyrics. The band explains the track:

“This song has so much pain inside of it. We experienced the loss of a close friend to suicide. When this happens you never fully understand or accept what they were thinking and why they dealt with their lives in such a reckless way. It hurts to know that you couldn’t help them. They might not have even wanted you to, even if you could have known ahead of time what they were about to do. Silence, that can be what causes their pain, or how they hide it, and that’s all you’re left with after they’re gone.”

The album “Ashes” has been five years in the making and can be seen as a massive growth spurt for the band, who have expanded melodically as well as touched on deeper subject matter in their writing while maintaining their original sound. They are in a completely new direction, have been experimenting with new studios, new album artists, new gear, and new perspectives, and they have grown considerably.

Unnerving and forceful, Death Perception doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to their take on death metal. They cover a lot of themes throughout their lyrics and combine them with punishing riffs, melodic creaks, and unforgiving vocals, guaranteed to get you banging your head.

Recommended for fans of Lamb of God, Whitechapel, and Devildriver, the album “Ashes” was released on June 18, 2021 via WormHoleDeath and is available on all digital platforms here.

Canadian thrashers Tymo announce they will be unleashing their new album “The Art Of A Maniac” this coming February 2022. The full-length follows their 2017 debut “Purge & Reset” and will offer up nine high-velocity moshing bangers on a theme of destruction and chaos. The album is self-produced by the band with mixing and mastering done by Graham Smith at Atreus XO Studios along with the cover artwork created by Andrei Bouzikov (Vektor, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, Toxic Holocaust).

Vocalist and guitarist Tim Tymo comments:

“Themes of destroying to gain control and take over! Lyrically and musically the album moves very fast, we wanted to create a feeling of chaos happening all around the listener! We touch on subjects of mental illness, alien invasion, civil conflicts, social media, and substance abuse! We accompany that with fast riffs, shreddy solos, and thick angry vocals!”

“The Art Of A Maniac” is a great representation of where the band stands now on the thrashing front. Tymo took extra time over the pandemic to make sure they were satisfied with everything. They pushed their speed and playing boundaries on this record. Fans familiar with their last album “Purge & Reset” along with new thrashers will definitely take notice.

“Any fans of thrash metal will definitely appreciate this record and we hope it’s added to their collection. Definitely our most aggressive and most focused record yet!” adds the band.

“The Art Of A Maniac” is due out on February 5, 2022 and is recommended for fans of Megadeth, Slayer, Lich King, Municipal Waste, and Exodus.

In preview to the sophomore record’s release and upcoming singles, Tymo is sharing an album teaser at the following link – https://youtu.be/RLEvin125UE

About:
“A golden shower of thrash metal!” Six words to sum up Tymo! A band whose attitude lives up to the title of their debut album “Purge & Reset”. Lead guitarist and vocalist Tim Tymo explains that the origin of the title is more than words; it is a statement of lost faith in humanity. “Let’s just say we have a creator or superior being. If this god gave up everything we needed to flourish and returned to see all the wars and corruption, it would want to wipe the slate clean and start over. Hence…PURGE AND RESET!

Formed in Edmonton in 2015, Tymo is comprised of Tim Tymo as the lead guitarist and vocalist, Nick Schwartz on rhythm guitar, Harlen Jacobs on bass, and Marc Durie on drums.

Tim Tymo describes the band’s sounds as “loud, angry, and explosive thrash”. Tymo has a serious mission to entertain their fans. “We love writing and performing, and we all share a common passion for thrash metal. We wanted to reference our heroes and mix up that inspiration with our own brew and see what we came up with, and here we are. We want to give people a source of inspiration and excitement!

Tymo’s debut album “Purge & Reset” was released in August of 2017 and Tymo performed shows in support of the album throughout 2018. The band returned to the studio in early 2019 to record a single entitled “Sanity Clause.” It was released in late 2019 with very positive reviews and sold-out shows! Due to Covid 19, the band spent much of 2020 in the studio recording their follow-up album to Purge & Reset!

As of 2021, Tymo performed at the Loud As Hell Festival 2021 and has finished recording their next full-on thrash album! Much faster and more aggressive than Purge & Reset. The album entitled “The Art of A Maniac” is planned to be released in 2022 and Tymo has a mission to expand its audience and dominate the world! Planning to tour Europe and many other countries.

Hosted and produced by the wise-cracking and often outspoken Kingston-based musician turned podcaster, Kasey Ferguson, this is an uncensored and raucous ride that speaks to those who are dissatisfied with what they hear on commercial radio. It’s Saturday Night Live meets Headbanger’s Ball, it’s Letterman for metalheads, it’s Mad Magazine for your headphones. It’s an irreverent, unpredictable and wildly funny program that Kasey himself describes as “craft radio”.

In addition to The Kasey Ferguson Show podcast, Kasey also hosted and produced a 25-episode radio version of The Kasey Ferguson Show, several interviews and a one-hour radio special for the terrestrial radio station, Amherst Island Radio 92.1 FM, a volunteer-run station serving the community in and around his hometown which streamed to the online world as well. This version of The Kasey Ferguson Show featured all-new content and became the most downloaded show on the station, a trend that continued even after the program went into reruns when he chose to leave the station in 2017.

Kasey then accepted an offer from internet station Q108, Kingston’s New Rock to produce a few specials, including the continuation of his annual Halloween series “The Haunted House Of Rock” which not only continues to this day but is often regarded by many fans as a staple of their Halloween celebrations each year.

Kasey is also an in-demand MC, hosting concerts, festivals, charity events, mixed martial arts contests, and horror conventions. He lent his musical talents to one of his past guests when he was tapped to compose and perform the theme song for UFC Legend Dan “The Beast” Severn’s MMA Promotion Dangerzone. Known to some for his writing as well, Kasey has written for several entertainment websites and magazines, the latest of which was penning a regular column, “Words From A Wild Card” and a cover story for 2nd Floor Sound Factory Magazine.

Most recently, Kasey created a custom program/station for The Cottage Coffee House in Westport, Ontario called “The Frothy Coffee Sessions” and began first-run syndication of The Kasey Ferguson Show in the US with the Ohio based rock station, KRMA Radio and in Canada with Hamilton, Ontario’s Alt Rock Radio.

EPK – My Hollow – Fighting The Monsters (EP) (2022)

Publicist – Jon Asher – jon[@]ashermediarelations[.]com

“This is by far some of the heaviest tunes we have written and the addition of Lead Guitarist Danio Pirrone and keyboardist Matt Williams has also created a new dimension to the My Hollow sound to make it so much more epic. The new tunes don’t stray too far from our back catalog, but they do possess more of a mature approach to our songwriting. At the end of the day, we hope that the listener can extract their own joy from each individual song. We think the older, as well as the newer fans, can find tangible qualities to enjoy about the new EP.” – My Hollow

“It has all the subtlety of two-ton anvil slamming down on a set of pearly whites! ” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

“Five pissed off Canadians ready to tear my head off! A welcome surprise.”- Power of Metal

“A staggeringly great job these boys are doing.”- Metal Talk

“I once read it was the test of the progressive band to take two wholly unrelated pieces of music and move seamlessly between them. My Hollow has that in spades, and diamonds, and clubs, and hearts.” – Glacially Musical

“On Borrowed Time is killer. True, it’s packed with a lot of influences, ranging from Pantera to Parkway Drive and more, but My Hollow still retain their own unique, bone-shaking, heavy sound. They’ve just been sure to include all of the best and dirtiest elements of heavy music.” – Skullnbones

“A heavy rabbit punch of an album.” – Hunter Young, Metal Machine

“They are a dynamic band, jamming along at 100mph, then cruising along to vast, deep sonic vistas that refresh the listener throughout the album (after On Borrowed Time, Cold Dark Days slows it down). They bounce around from different influences and spheres, but never staying long enough to wear out their welcome.” – Hunter Young, Metal Machine

“Canada’s My Hollow really set the metal underground on fire with their debut full-length entitled “On Borrowed Time”. This CD encompasses most every element of death metal and death-metal/core into the mix and the end result is one of the best releases I have heard this year. Definitely in the top 10.” -Akerthorpe, Encyclopedia Metallum

=============================================================

The EP as a whole:

Lyrically, the album fits well together. Each song has its own struggle and perseverance. The main focus for each song was to have its own battle and its own victory. Each topic is different, each outcome is the same.

Track by track explained:

1. Vultures
When I wrote this song I wanted to write something brutally heavy and I had this kind of black metal fast tremolo guitar riff that just totally crushed. I wrote a couple of alternate parts that were cool, but didn’t have the feeling that I was going for. I would say that this song was probably one of the most difficult ones for me as I had to revisit it a couple of times. I am definitely happy with the finished product which made all the struggle worthwhile. (Greg – Guitar)

2. Fighting The Monsters:
This song came together like peas and carrots. I wanted to write a single that had huge sounding choruses and fast, hard hitting verses. We wanted some singing parts in the chorus and we were fortunate enough to have Bjorn of Soilwork completely kill it on this song. I was definitely aiming for a sound that a bigger variety of crowd may latch on to. (Greg – Guitar)

3. Hell Or High Water:
When I wrote the guitar parts for this song they ended up coming together really quickly. I remember feeling some stress and some loneliness at the time and I think that it comes through in the music. It’s also a lot different structurally than most of our songs, which is something that I always try to bring to the table. It also features a longer instrumental section nearing the end which also has gotten positive feedback from the crowd during live performances. Danio Pirrone added a pretty sweet guitar solo in place of the one originally written as a place holder, which is far more technical than My Hollow leads of old. The vocals that Graham added feed into the feel of the music as well, that feeling of unrest and longing for closure are evident in the lyrics. (Sean – Bass)

4. Faded Through:
This was one of the first songs I wrote coming off the release of the “And Now We Fall” single. I wanted to keep the same feel and evolve from that sound which was heavy on the keyboards. I had some basic ideas for the keys and when Matt got a hold of the song, he took it to the next level. The song really came together when we started jamming it out. I had a hard time coming up with an ending and Sean had this killer break down the fit perfectly which in turn allows us to do our trademark move, “The Slowbang,” when we play it live. If you’ve ever seen us play Cold Dark Days live, you’ll know what I’m talking about. (Greg – Guitar)

5. The Iron Harvest:
For me, this song was all about the ending. I actually wrote the song backwards in a sense. I had this killer idea for an ending of a song and what better way to start the song than to completely blast the fuck out of our forearms with a shit ton of tremolo picking. We jammed this song out for a while and with some solid ideas from the boys, this beast of a song was born. (Greg – Guitar)

This was my least favourite song, in truth, prior to Matt getting involved. The ending was awesome, but I wasn’t a fan of the beginning sequence until Matt added his parts in, which for me really improved the tune dramatically. He brought some outside-the-box ideas to parts I felt needed something extra and morphed it into one of my favourites tracks from this release. Danio Pirrone came into the studio and ripped a few lead parts on top of this tune that we could only dream of playing in a My Hollow song prior, this is only a small feature of what he is capable of, so it’s a taste of what’s to come from future My Hollow songs. (Sean – Bass)

hollow: (1) a place or area that is lower than the area around it.
(2) an empty space inside of something.

The definitions of the word hollow describe My Hollow fittingly. With intense riffs and passages seamlessly giving way to lower, heavier parts in a lock-up, chunked out style with mutes leaving empty space in an otherwise chaotic sequence.

Based out of the Toronto area, My Hollow boasts a cast of independent metal journeymen, hungry to be heavier, tighter and more engaging with every song. Applying advice and drawing experience from performing alongside some of Canada’s biggest metal exports; The Agonist, Cryptopsy, Threat Signal,  Beneath The Massacre among others. My Hollow as a whole can draw from a multitude of influences, not only from metal but from other genres as well, reflected in both their recorded releases as well as their live performance. Described by Danish webzine Power Of Metal as “five pissed off Canadians ready to tear my head off!” As well as “all the subtlety of a two-ton anvil slamming down on a set of pearly whites” by US based heavy metal blog, Heavy Metal Time Machine.

My Hollow has two official releases, 2012’s ‘Cold Dark Days EP’ featuring four demo versions of songs which were reworked and reimagined on 2014’s ‘On Borrowed Time’ full length release featuring My Hollow’s most refined and focused work to date.

Like any band, My Hollow has had its highs and lows. Being selected as a finalist for the annual Wacken Metal Battle Canada 2013 solidified My Hollow as one of Toronto’s, as well as Canada’s top metal acts and announced themselves to a broader spectrum of listeners. Although narrowly missing out on a spot to perform in Germany at heavy metal’s premier festival the experience proved to strengthen the bands resolve and galvanize their confidence in the process.

While the band’s recorded releases give the listener an idea of what My Hollow is about, the live performance is where My Hollow truly shine. “With a crushing wave of energy, and sound, My Hollow filled the venue with their effervescent presence. The lads never disappoint on stage,” is how Toronto based metal publication Metal Master Kingdom described their experience.

With a new EP “Fighting The Monsters”, which includes guest vocals from Bjorn Strid (Soilwork) due out in 2022 and an ever-evolving sound and live performance, My Hollow strive to become an ever-present staple in the Canadian and global metal scene and will stop at nothing to leave you hollow, and wanting more.

BAND STORY ANGLES / FUN FACTS:

1. The guitar and vocal tracking for the album were engineered by both Greg Gallagher and Sean De Faria. The drums were recorded by Tyler Williams at Monolithic Productions, who also mixed and mastered the album. Every band is on a budget, the more money you can save doing things yourself the better, so long as the end product is acceptable. That money can be used for other ventures like promotion, music videos and merchandise.

2. All artwork from the last 10 years has been done by Jennifer White, the wife of our vocalist, Graham. She has made so many amazing pieces over the years and has really made us look good visually. She also created the storyboard for the music video for ‘Vultures,’ as well as creating all of the puppets, props and backgrounds by hand, all while serving as de facto director for the video. We are very fortunate to have her around, My Hollow wouldn’t have been the same without her.

3. We have a number of “Easter Eggs” and hidden inside jokes without our content. A lot revolve around Angelo’s obsession with the number ’11.’ For instance, whenever we can we change the double-L’s in My Hollow to My Ho11ow, or whenever we have a music video we’ll have things in the background, like in the music video for “On Borrowed Time,” the clock is set to 11:11. Also, on one of our recordings, Graham said ‘Meow’ instead of ‘Now,’ in homage to the cult movie classic “Super Toppers.”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – November 26, 2021

Rockshots Records – Out Now! Swedish Prog Power HOLLOW’s New Album “Tower”

HOLLOW, lead by Andreas Stoltz (ex-Binary Creed) has a new album entitled “Tower” out now as of Friday, November 26th via Rockshots Records. The fourth full-length from the Swedish prog power act follows 2019’s “Between Eternities of Darkness”, which marked the band’s return after a 20-year hiatus since unleashing the 1999 album “Architects of The Mind” via Nuclear Blast Records.

Featuring 10 tracks, “Tower” is a story album best listened to as a whole, which tells a tale of transformation with its blend of progressive metal/rock, power, melodic death, and thrash elements. Andrea Stoltz is accompanied by drummer Stalder Zantos who also appeared on “Between Eternities of Darkness”.

“Working with Stalder Zantos has been a more continuous element in writing the material for Tower than on Between Eternities of Darkness and this has definitely influenced the outcome as has contributed more on this album than on the previous one,“ adds Stoltz.

On HOLLOW‘s “Architect of the Mind” artificial intelligence and creation were the topics of discussion, for “Between Eternities of Darkness” parenthood and tragedy were the subject matter, and now for “Tower” the concept of inner and outer freedom is explored. It’s also about belonging and transcendence and Stoltz hopes these are things that most people can relate to.

“The relating bit is important since art – regardless of form – is a meeting of emotions and ideas. It needs to find something to resonate within the person who takes part in it. When asked, I find it hard to describe the music, but it’s metal. It has distorted guitars, double bass drums and harks back to bands like Judas Priest and Queensryche. But there is also quite a bit of contemporary metal on Tower. Since this is a concept album with the ambition of conveying a story, listening to it as a whole is encouraged. I hope you can find something that resonates with you on it. Hopefully, HOLLOW’s fans will be able to trace today’s music back to Modern Cathedral and Architect of the Mind. I’ve made an effort to keep it as straightforward and simple as possible. I think most fans will have no trouble recognizing it as HOLLOW.” comments Stoltz.

Out Now! Vancouver’s ANARCHEON’s New EP Has A “Scary Tale” To Tell You!

Out Now! Vancouver, Canada’s Anarcheon has a “Scary Tale” to tell you on their new three-track EP. Delivering a creepy, but groovy vibe, their EP “Scary Tale” takes you through a vampiric journey into the dark side of Anarcheon. The EP tells the story of a woman transitioning into a blood-thirsty beast who obsessively desires her lady lover, but only to realize once she is turned, she is someone she never imagined she could be.

The EP has been in the works for a while and it’s lyrically very different from what Anarcheon have released in the past, but keeps that groovy instrumental element they have honed. These new songs are all horror-based and blood lustful, but with a twist of metaphorical magic.

“We are excited to showcase what we have been brewing up. With bassist Sylvain being our main writer, this has taken a turn in the direction we have always needed to go in. Get ready for some scrap metal! Kaija our vocalist and lyricist tends to write very emotionally and personally. A lot of writing in the past has been the struggle to find yourself with the ever-impending doom of meaninglessness and hopelessness. We are hoping to get everyone grooving and moshing, but also leave you with a sense of fright and uneasiness. Like ‘what’d this demonic gal just say?!'” adds the band.

One can as well take this EP as a metaphor for someone very lost in love and what is right and wrong. Those who could feel like they can be two different people once they have suffered a tragedy or heartbreak, which can result in self-loathing and guilt that could ruin someone and/or can be seen to protect themselves by turning off their consciousness hence feeling superhuman with no emotions to weigh you down.

Bassy, and groovy, Anarcheon is suitable for fans of Sepultura, The Agonist and Carcass.

“Scary Tale” is now available as of November 26th, 2021 on the following platforms:  Anarcheon.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

Set to unleash their second EP of 2021, “Dead End Pt.2” on Friday, November 26th, Montreal thrashers WarCall is streaming the record in full via its premiere on Metal-Rules HERE.

With 2021 coming to a close soon, WarCall is not done just yet… they still have more fight in them and a fury of metal to inject into the moshpit with the second part of their Dead End EP series.

Standing up for all the fights we are fighting on a daily basis. WarCall represents the struggle in life and the challenges we have to rise to. We get called to war every day and it is up to us to step up and face our fears. The DIY Canadian quartet heeds this mantra, consistently pushing boundaries with their fast and dramatic metal music.

Releasing via their own label Plan B Music, the beginning of the “Dead End” series, Pt.1 was unveiled in April, which was in-your-face, old-school-inspired metal, whereas Pt. 2 is more progressive and atmospheric.

The band comments:

“Overall, the two EPs together are a collection of 9 songs, 9 stories about struggle. We have let the events of 2020 influence the process and the mood of the two EPs, while still aiming for a timeless production that will age well in time. The title and artwork represent the doom and gloom of life in the year 2020 and how the human race reacts in the face of death and uncertainty. With the impossibility to meet to even take a band picture, WarCall presents themselves as fictional post-apocalyptic warriors, a subtle comment and nod to the current events that marked the year 2020. And while more atmospheric in their nature, the 5 songs from Dead End pt. 2 are delivered in a raw package. At first, we wanted to work on the songs a little more in order to achieve a different atmosphere than Dead End pt. 1. We experimented with sounds and textures to add in the places we thought needed it, but each time, we preferred the original version. In the end, we chose to go ahead with the songs as they are in their purest form.”

Totally authentic, with a wide range of influences ranging from old-school death and thrash metal, WarCall is recommended for fans of Testament, Exodus, Anthrax and Dissection.

“Dead End Pt. 2” will only be released digitally on November 26, 2021 via Plan B Music on Warcallmetal.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

Rockshots Records – Finland’s AMOTH (ft.Ensiferum’s Pekka Montin) Posts New Lyric Video “It Aint’ Over Yet”

New Album “The Hour Of The Wolf” Out Jan 28, 2022

Finland’s Amoth featuring Pekka Montin of Ensiferum on vocals are sharing their second single “It Aint’s Over Yet” off their forthcoming album “The Hour Of The Wolf” due out on January 28, 2022.

“This is a full-scale thrash attack with no mercy! This is about school bullying or bullying in general. We are totally against bullying! Unfortunately, it’s a thing that’s going on all around the world. Remember if you’re a bully that it may be over for you but it ain’t over for the victim. Things might get ugly if the bullied person decides to retaliate…” adds the band.

“It Ain’t Over Yet” can be heard via its lyric video https://youtu.be/FQYTtROb8dk

Spotify – https://spoti.fi/3cOp2y1

Amoth is a melodic progressive heavy metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Their third studio album “The Hour Of The Wolf” is a huge leap forward compared to their previous recordings “Revenge” (2016), “Crossing Over” (2011), “Wounded Faith (EP) (2008).

“This is by far our best album yet! Superior performances from all of the musicians. Much better production and songwriting. It’s not a fast-food album. Some of the songs are quite complex so it takes probably more than one listen to really get into!” comments Amoth guitarist and main songwriter Tomi Ihanamäki.

Amoth’s roots are strongly founded on 80’s heavy metal, but branch out in different directions with elements from progressive rock, thrash, and even jazz brought to the table.

The new album features Pekka Montin of Ensiferum once again as the lead vocalist and for the first time, there are also keyboards on an Amoth recording. Fans can expect insane vocals and virtuoso-like playing from all members of the band. The nine songs are very diverse, taking sudden twists and turns into unexplored territory. Amoth even offers up two Steve Vai / Joe Satriani-style instrumentals on this new full-length with tracks “Wind Serenade Part I” and “Wind Serenade Part II”.

Amoth‘s new album “The Hour of The Wolf” is recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Testament, Megadeth, Joe Satriani.

“Sorcière” is the third single off of Quebec’s Nova Spei recently released second album “Sequentis”. This sophomore record is more cohesive than their previous one, their 2017 self-titled debut. On this new album, they stay high energy, focusing on how they will translate their music to the stage.

The majority of Nova Spei’s lyrics focus on relatable experiences that people have regularly in their lives. They describe the meaning behind “Sorcière”:

“We created this album as a more ‘’metal’’ album, with lots of energy and powerful riffs. The summary of the single is that it represents our vices, our weaknesses, which can lead to an unhealthy relationship.”

A groovy undertone meets progressive, catchy riffs, compiled with aggressive vocals belting out the French lyrics. It’s accessible, but edgy enough to suit a discerning metalhead. It is heavier than their previous one, but will still be familiar to their current fans. They have a wide range of influences that combine to result in memorable, heavy music.

The djenty French metal is recommended for fans of Architects, Gojira and Deftones.

The music video for “Sorcière” can be seen and heard via its premiere on TheCirclePit YouTube channel – https://youtu.be/KfPMCk2tj4I

“Sequentis” is now out via Quebec label Bam&Co-Heavy. The album was written and produced by Nova Spei plus mixed and mastered by Anthony Chognard along with the album artwork done by Filip Ivanovic.
