Seattle Progressive Melodic Death DRAEMORA Shares Music Video About Addiction “Home”

Debut EP “Awakening” Out Now via Ultra Nast Records

Relatively new to the Seattle metal scene, Draemora is comprised of seasoned musicians who, despite COVID-19 slowing their debut, showed the nation and the world their EP “Awakening”, unleashed this past June via Ultra Nast Records.

Today, the band is excited to share their first music video for their track “Home” via its premiere on BeheadingTheTraitor’s YouTube channel HERE.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins adds about the video:

“The video is meant to capture the day in the life of a drug addict/alcoholic. Take the video how you want, but to me, it’s just a depiction of the brutal loneliness of addiction, and the damage it can do.”

Draemora‘s debut EP “Awakening” is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics. This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins elaborates the story behind the writing of “Awakening”:

“It’s intense and beautiful.  It’s angry, sad, and uplifting and I think it is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.  The majority of the lyrics are a culmination of direct excerpts from letters, poems, and life experiences from the period between May 2018 and August 2019.  It was a very intense time in my life.  A relationship I had been in for 10 years was falling apart due to my addiction problems and I had just got sober at the end of April 2018.  Being sober after being intoxicated and high for 16 years was like living in a different world all together.  I had to finally face all of the things I had put off for a very long time and it was like I was learning how to do everything in my life all over again.  I used lyrics and music to channel a lot of those feelings and get it out.  When I was in the beginning, I relied on listening to a few specific metal albums to keep me from slipping into the dark, and without those pieces of music, I may not be walking the earth right now.  I was going to keep this stuff to myself but, the realization that I needed to feel like I wasn’t alone by listening to music that spoke candidly about the same things that I was going through almost forced me to share my stories and others stories on this EP with someone else who is going through the same stuff.”

Recommended for fans of Strapping Young Lad, Whitechapel, and Nevermore, Draemora‘s “Awakening” is available Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play HERE.

Album Stream on YouTube.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

“Draemora’s new EP Awakening is a 17 minute melodic death metal piece with more twists and turns than your average M. Night Shyamalan movie. This is a band that doesn’t stick to the tradition melo-death sounds, instead looking to incorporate some clean singing, some progressive sections and some experimental sounds… This is an EP that incorporates many different sounds, but doesn’t have any filler… A very unique debut release from Draemora.” – Metal Injection

“‘Guilt’ features the band’s penchant for mixing their brutal modern metal with glorious rock melodies! Think of a sound that meshes Gojira, Alien Weaponry, Faith No More, and the more recent era of Lamb of God, and you might begin to understand the group!” – Ghost Cult Mag

“In this playthrough of their song “Guilt” we see Terry from Draemora ripping away with his Fender Telecaster. His tele is loaded with a single EMG 57 and he’s boosting that guy with an Ibanez TS9 going directly into his Mesa. The deadly tone of the 2-channel and a heavy rhythm hand are such a great combo.” – Gear Gods

“A haunting, eerie melody opens “Home” with the an Allegaeon esq melodic moment before some DJent infused riffage takes hold and Wood delivers the kind of unclean vocals that leave you with 3rd degree burns on the inside of your throat. Jenkins interjects with a pair of clean sung verses over some almost Grungy Metalcore and you have a track with perhaps a trio of different styles in a single offering that works because of the cognitive tissue of the narrative.” – Metal Noise

KISW 99.9FM (Seattle) – BJ & Migs L&L BAND OF THE WEEK: Draemora (June 10, 2020)

“LEGION OF SCUM, with its dynamic and pressing drums and sharp riffing, surely one of our favorite tracks.” – HardRockHeavyMetal

After a debut EP and the full-length “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” (2017) in their native language, the band formed in 2010 by bass player and composer Vladislav Tyushin have decided to re-record their songs for the international debut album “The Outer Limits”.

In 2019, Mikhail Kudrey, a talented vocalist, joined Selenseas as the new singer, his unique voice and charisma turned out to be a perfect addition to the band’s style, and recording sessions for the revamped international version of  “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” followed immediately.

The band decided to re-record almost all instruments for the album “The Outer Limits” and to ensure a more powerful and epic sound, several guest musicians were invited: Sergei Lazar (Arkona, Rossomahaar), Ivan Garin, Andrey Zodchiy (ex-Dis Pater), Alexey Verbitsky (Legenda) and Gamil Makhmutov (ex-Ethno-Sound).

Composer Vladislav Tyushin comments:

“This album is filled with powerful and epic sound, and each song has its own meaning, style, and mood. At the same time, all the songs are united by the same atmosphere and are part of the same universe. They are portals, pages of a book, doors which will take you to different worlds and lead you to discover something interesting. All you need is but a single step across the boundary!”

“The Outer Limits” contains elements of folk, progressive, doom, hard rock but is centered around the heavy/power metal genre and will be released worldwide on August 7, 2020.

Rockshots Records: ISLE OF THE CROSS New Music Video ‘The Wolf’

Debut Album “Excelsis” Out Now!

Progressive-death metal band ISLE OF THE CROSS have unleashed their new video ‘The Wolf’ in support of their debut album “Excelsis” released this past February via Rockshots Records.

The video is for tracks “The Wolf, Pt I. Invocation” and “The Wolf, Pt II. Sanctuary”.

Watch the video at this link HERE.

The band explains in further detail:

“The two ‘Wolf’ tracks take a little diversion from the storyline on the album in order to pay homage and deliver a message to a small parish that celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

‘The Wolf, Pt I. Invocation’ is an octagonal ritual where the leader welcomes and initiates the obliteration of the innocent minds of children. ‘The Wolf, Pt II. Sanctuary’ is a direct message to the small parish previously mentioned and quite timely as they celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Though it truly is a universal message to all leaders and followers of religious sects and cults who are so violently overcome by their own self-righteous pride and arrogance; having a form of Godliness and blindly believing through their own willing enslavement that they are actually ‘serving God.’ One of the cardinal sins in the world and one radicals’ are highly fond of, is the brainwashing and tormenting of an innocent mind; especially that of a child. Though redemption is never too far of a reach for any of us and so of utmost importance is the closing monologue.”

Infusing a blend from the avant-garde realms of extreme, symphonic, melodic, and technical death-metal, ISLE OF THE CROSS is led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Je Schneider.

The debut full length “Excelsis” is a concept release based on a tale of two lovers amidst betrayal, murder and their search to reunite in the afterlife. From the immediate and vicious thrust of the opening track ‘Sacrifice’, the listener is quickly catapulted into an enigmatic journey of sonic power. From the furious to the melodious opuses on the album, the listener is enveloped in a dynamic exploration until the very end. At the heart of ISLE OF THE CROSS is the conveyance of depth, poignancy, and redemption through the endurance of tragedy.

‘Excelsis’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Je Schneider.

The soul in the solo and the gift of the riff. The blues from the heart and the colour in the art. Emerging from the underground of Montreal comes The Naked High. Joining forces in the summer of 2015, connected by a love of similar music ranging from blues to rock to metal, the dauntless quartet brings an electric chemistry to their music, amplified when they are on stage.

Releasing their latest EP “Tap Into The Evil” this past May, the band is sharing with fans their new video for the first single they unleashed “Jewel of The Crowd”. The video captures live clips from the band’s December 2019 performance in Montreal at Club Soda.

When asked about the track, the band comments:

“Lyrically and even musically this song takes love from Aerosmith’s style of writing. Sexual innuendos and just dirty fun lyrics. The way rock n’ roll used to be before everyone became so tame. The song is about wild nights and wild shows. It has a sleaze metal sound like riffs from a Guns n Roses, Skid Row, or Aerosmith record.”

Watch the video via its premiere on GhostCultMag HERE.
The Naked High is Hugo Leclerc-Charron delivering solos on guitar, Simon Ouellet with Iron Maiden-esque vocals, Phil Perreault keeping the low end steady, and Charlie Cayouette backing everything up with his rocking beat.

The Naked High have released their second EP entitled “Tap Into The Evil”. The 6 songs show the evolution of their sound from their 2017 self-titled debut as they push forward into the next chapter of the band and continue to learn from the legends that they admire while forging their own respective path in Rock N Roll.

“Tap Into The Evil” can be heard in full on the following platforms Bandcamp, YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music.

Track Listing:
1. Jewel Of The Crowd (3:22)
2. Rebirth (2:42)
3. Sleep Paralysis (6:54)
4. She’s So Marie (4:33)
5. Moon Turns red (5:39)

“Varied vocals, catchy riff and virtuoso solos at a high level. The Naked High are a welcome surprise from the Stoner area for me. Tap Into the Evil is varied and creative. No surprise that the band can already look back on a solid fan base. A must for fans of Alice in Chains or Black Sabbath , an absolute recommendation for everyone else. Too bad that it is only available digitally. However, I am convinced and give a whopping 10/10 .” – Sound Magnet

“The Naked High was already being greeted by applause when they walked on stage. Their mushroom-infused sound pulled in the crowd faster than a turkey on Thanksgiving. I mean, as soon as they opened up with “Liquid Love,” a song that resonates well with the stoner crowd, people were already into it. Simon Ouellet, singer and frontman, is basically what would happen if Ronnie James Dio had a child with Phil Anselmo.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2019 Live Review opening for King Buffalo, Mountain Dust)

“The night opened with The Naked High. Their sound covered a lot of diverse metal territory. Their vocalist had an operatic Iron Maiden vibe, while the guitar playing took cues from Ozzy Osbourne‘s career and beyond. The second song in their set had a distinctly early metal sound, but a lot of the guitar parts evoked a slightly younger generation, particularly the squealing tendencies of Zakk Wylde.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2017 Live Review Opening for Truck Fighters)

“The group play an eclectic mix of blues/stoner rock and metal, and do so very well! For a band that hasn’t been around for too long, I feel like they’ve really nailed down their unique sound, even if the elements they use are rather familiar. Musically, the style falls in between Black Sabbath and the bluesy bravado of Danzig, and their songs that night were infectious with groove and tasteful guitar play. Singer Simon Ouellet showed his vast arsenal of vocal styles as well as his entertaining mid-song banter. This is one Montreal band everyone should keep their eye out for.” – Bucketlist Music Reviews (2016 Live Review opening for Bongzilla, Black Cobra)

“This Montreal band has some legit balls, and has made their debut with six tracks worthy of twenty year veterans. The Naked High is somewhere between metal and hard rock, with just a touch of doom. Excellent musicianship, songwriting and production quality (recorded, mixed and mastered at badass studio, wherever that is). I keep playing this one, and the digital download comes with lyrics, which are worth it for the song “Juice” alone (a song about Colonel Angus, so to speak). Here’s a good example of an album where the cover art pretty much performs perfect vetting for its clientele. If you dig the cover, I’m pretty sure you’ll dig the tunes, and if the cover is a turn-off for you, you are probably making the right call to walk away. Here is the opener, “Mean Amphetamine”. It gets better and better as it progresses.” – Heavy Metal Text Books

Ottawa Blackened Death Serene Dark Streaming New Album“Enantiodromia” Before Officially Out July 17th

Canada’s Serene Dark will be unleashing their new album “Enantiodromia” this coming Friday, July 17th. “Enantiodromia” (pronounced en-an-ti-o-dromia) is dark, entrancing, and orchestral while maintaining the key elements of death and black metal. Overall, the album explores the confrontation between the shadow aspect of the personality and the integration of it into the self to create wholeness.  Influenced by philosophy, stoicism, hermeticism, and the occult. The album, lyrically, is a journey towards individuation by the exploration of human darkness and transforming that pain into something tangible and meaningful. In essence- to lose one’s self entirely to reach perfection.

Before the full length’s official release, the band is streaming the album in full via BeheadingTheTraitor’s YouTube channel HERE.

The band adds:

“This album will be received as a new but familiar sound for any previous fans of our last band (Endemise)… We want our fans to get lost in the music. We want to pique some interest in fans of this style of music… We have written a lot of songs and chosen our top ten favourites.”

Under the name Endemise, the band released Far From The Light (2013) and Anathema (2016), but now with the new name, Serene Dark has made a refreshing start with elements of the previous band still lingering, but taking the songs and style to a new level on this record and experimented with various instruments and vocal styles. This album sets a new caliber and standard for Serene Dark.

“Enantiodromia” is recommended for fans of Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Rotting Christ.

The album will be available on Bandcamp (CD), Spotify, Apple Music.

“‘Enantiodromia’ is a ten track, fifty-five-minute offering with which the band “plans to unleash a blistering force of evil” and does so, I think, in the finest Metal tradition… This should be of interest to fans of Dimmu Borgir, Insomnium, Abigail Williams, Fleshgod Apocalypse Septicflesh, and Rotting Christ. For me, it had definitely been worth the wait.” – Metal Talk

“Epic, blackened death metal…if those words excite you then you’re in for a real treat. Serene Dark are at the top of their game with a new album that is the pinnacle of imagination when it comes to this style of metal. As classy as it is heavy, as brutal as it is attractive and as impactful as it is numbing.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“I really like what Serene Dark have done here. I’m a sucker for creatively mixed genres, and the lyrical journey from repression to acceptance to healing was just what the doctor ordered for me right now. The first album under their new name, I see Enantiodromia as a transition step towards bigger and better things for the band, and I can’t wait to see where their path leads.” – Angry Metal Guy

“All in all, whether you know the band as Serene Dark or Endemise, this latest album is a stirring reflection of inner darkness and turmoil set to a delicate, almost fragile in its complexity, arrangement of traditional and orchestral instruments. Expect great things to come.” – Antichrist Metal Mag

“The adopted musical style reflects Serene Dark’s genesis: melodic, soothing, somber and heavy.” – Metal Hammer Portugal

“SERENE DARK’s “Enantiodromia” represents a significant advance from the band’s previous manifestation and gives listeners a seamless, varied, and epic articulation of black metal, melodic death metal, old school death metal, and deathcore whilst focusing on a fascinating and poignant psychological exploration.” – Mosh Pit Nation

“Altogether, SERENE DARK represents a significant advance from the band’s previous manifestation and gives listeners a seamless, varied and epic articulation of black metal, melodic death metal, old school death metal and deathcore whilst focusing on a fascinating and poignant psychological exploration.” – Black Metal Daily

Colorado’s Buried Realm Shares Guitar Playthrough “Embodiment of The Divine”

Sophomore Album “Embodiment of The Divine” Out July 24th

Dean Arnold (Operus, ex-Vital Remains), Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris), Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork),
Rafael Trujillo (ex-Obscura), Ryan Strain (Chaos For The Masses)

Buried Realm is a solo studio project, hatched from the mind of Josh Dummer. It is the second album he has put out under that moniker and once again he has written an epic, creative record filled not only with his own talent but also with that of a smorgasbord of special guests from around the world. Dummer comments on the album:

“After nearly three years of creating ‘Embodiment of the Divine,’ I am very pleased to present and share this album with everyone. I’m honored to be joined by a number of guests that have influenced my writing and playing over the years. Their contributions have truly helped bring the album to another level. ‘Embodiment of the Divine’ features guest performances from Andy Gillion, Benjamin Ellis, Bob Katsionis, Dean Arnold, Lee McKinney, Peter Wichers, Rafael Trujillo, and Ryan Strain. Listeners can expect to hear a whole lot of riffs, solos, and melody. The album has its traditional arrangements at times but is also built on technical and chaotic grounds. I think the overall atmosphere of this album is darker compared to the previous one.”

Having already shared three singles off the full length (listed below), Dummer is sharing the playthrough for the album’s title track via its premiere on TechnicalMusicReview HERE.

Dummer adds:

“After recording the rhythm guitars for the album, I considered re-amping with real amps. The first person that popped into my mind was Keith Merrow. We chatted briefly about the project and the tone I was going for. I’ve always dug that classic 5150 sound and was chasing that for this album. After a shootout between several plugins, I decided the TSE X50 sounded great and convincing, so that’s what I went with it in the end. My other guitar tracks/ effects were recorded with a Line 6 Pod HD. I believe most of the album guests used Axe FX.”

Recommended for fans of Soilwork, Nevermore, and Children of Bodom, Buried Realm is progressive melodic death metal.

“Embodiment of the Divine” is out on July 24, 2020.

About:

A true visionary is a rare thing, but such a man is Josh Dummer exemplified in his solo studio project Buried Realm. Influenced by personal experience and executed through metaphors, the progressive and heavy metal leaves room for interpretation and paints an interesting picture for listeners.

Following up on his long time idea of releasing a solo album, he seized the chance with his first offering “Ichor Carcinoma”. Released in 2017 it features guests such as Christopher Amott (Arch Enemy, Armageddon), Peter Wichers (Soilwork), Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun) and Travis Montgomery (Threat Signal, Jeff Loomis band).

Inspired by Opeth, Kreator, Old Man’s Child, Symphony X (and tons of old Hair Metal!), Dummer is a man who is not afraid to gaze into the abyss for music and lyrical inspiration. He describes Buried Realm’s music as ‘fierce, cutting, technical, melodic, and memorable.’ The studio project represents a hidden dimension within himself where the ‘buried disputes’ of his life are confronted only through music; where he can express musical ideas without compromising.

The next chapter in Dummer’s journey is 2020’s “Embodiment of the Divine” due out July 24th and while it is parallel to the first, both musically and lyrically, it is a forward step in a sojourn that will be continuing.

Edmonton Progressive Death OMNIARCH Shares Guitar Playthrough “Ohm Cairn”

Premiere Playthrough via TheProgSpace

Self-Titled Album Out Now!

Unleashing their debut self-titled album earlier this May, Edmonton progressive death metallers Omniarch are sharing with fans their new guitar playthrough for the track “Ohm Cairn”. Guitarists Mason Wilson (playing on a Solar S1.6 FR) and Morgan Lambert (playing an Ibanez RG550 in C standard) showcase the shredding fest via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

The band adds:

“This is definitely our toughest and most fun song to play! It has a little bit of everything: trem picking, string skipping, melodic leads, high-flying solo sections, a classical section, and all at a blistering 250 bpm! Enjoy.”

A unique journey through history, mythology, imagination, and learning through introspection and reflection. Omniarch‘s seven-track debut full-length is a composite of progressive and technical death metal, played by five seasoned musicians that bring an eclectic set of skills to the band. The Canadian quintet is recommended for anyone with an interest in melodic, technical, relentless death metal, especially fans of The Black Dahlia Murder, The Absence, and Arsis.

Commenting on the album, the band had this to say:

“We hope fans of aggressive, progressive, and technical metal music will enjoy this one. We feel it’s something new, but still within the realms of what we know and love. This debut album is our full, headlining set, and plays great in its track listing order. We are already working on an EP of all 7 string songs to follow, as well as working on another EP more indicative of our current sound/tuning. We released what we had up until now, and pride ourselves on our fecundity as a band. We have plenty of music coming down the pipe.”

Omniarch‘s self-titled album is available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and Apple Music.

About:
Omniarch was formed from the ashes of two former bands, Netherward and This is War. Morgan Lambert (guitar), Mason Wilson (guitar), Jon Hofmann (bass), Mackenzie LaHaye (vocals), and  Henry Giesbrecht (drums) who had played gigs together in separate bands, had always entertained the idea of joining forces. Eventually, conditions allowed for the amalgamation of the two bands into a new and wholly different alloy of metal and formed the beginning of Omniarch.

Giesbrecht, the original drummer, added a new dynamic to the band with his fresh approach to metal song structures. Eventually, Giesbrecht moved on and made way for Sean Higgins to step in and make his own indelible mark on the band with his nuanced sense of rhythm and pace. The disparate and yet congruous influences have come together to showcase a truly unique and exciting band, full of opportunity.

Each Omniarch song starts with a collaboration between Wilson and Lambert to determine the riffs, which are then brought to the rhythm section where they are morphed into a  cohesive idea that is splattered with aggressive technical death metal vocals with themes surrounding history, fantasy/science fiction, and mythology.

Omniarch is just getting started, as of spring 2020 they have a fresh self-titled release out on May My 8th with plenty more music coming down the pipe. Watch out for them on the live circuit and take your chance to witness a compelling live show that challenges boundaries.

“Omniarch come our way from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and they don’t come timidly. Their formulation of technical and progressive death metal absolutely blazes with exuberant spirit, technical virtuosity, and turbocharged energy, while incorporating memorable melodic and atmospheric accents. It’s the kind of music that will likely find welcome among fans of such bands as Revocation, Inferi, and The Black Dahlia Murder. ” – No Clean Singing

“Fire and fury with a really strong technical edge, Omniarch live and breathe their metal, choking all who share the same space…. Ursa Major is one hell of a closer. The drums and guitars taking the mood down to dark places, the vocals the sound of hellish noise in the shadows. Then out of the blue the band throw out an absolute beast of a guitar solo. It’s momentously heavy stuff.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

“Ohm Cairn is brutal, death metal with shredding solos, and some cool melodic moments!” – Ghost Cult Mag

“The Canadian crew combines a technical and melodic sound not many newer bands achieve these days and it’s rather impressive.” – Technical Music Review

“Omniarch have furnished us all with an excellent record.” – Wicked Metal Review

“an ambitious Melodic Death Metal act that are clearly reaching for an individual sound on their self-titled debut.” – The Metal Crypt

North Carolina’s groove metal outfit WoR is gearing up to release their debut album “Prisoners” on August 7th via Bungalo Records/ Universal. Throwing in elements of thrash, metalcore, and even hardcore punk, everyone in the band has taken a different musical path and the variety of influences shows through in the unique and original sound.

It’s a little bit melodic and a little bit old school, and completely energetic.

The new album “Prisoners” promises to be an extreme journey from start to finish, a metal album through and through. There are no clean guitars on the whole album, just heavy and groovy riffs. WoR shares their excitement for the release:

“This album has been in the works for several years and we finally get to show you what we have been working on nonstop for the last year. From front to back, this album is meant to take you on a heavy metal journey. It features groovy tracks such as Predator, brutal songs such as Caged, and melodic anthems such as VI Kings. While the songs are groovy and meant to give your neck whiplash, the lyrics are deep and thought out. The messages behind these songs are ones of resilience and overcoming. If you enjoy heavy riffs, melodic overtones, and just straight-up angry and in your face METAL, this album is for you!”

Through versatile styles, a wide range of metal awaits the listener. The first single from the album is “Predator”, a song that almost didn’t make the album. It was redone in the studio and WoR has released a video for it that is streaming now.

There is something for metal fans from the entire spectrum to enjoy, especially those who like Pantera, Lamb of God and Machine Head.

“Prisoners” will be available on August 7th, 2020.

Watch the video for “Predator” on YouTube.

About:

WoR is a groove metal quintet from Raleigh, North Carolina. Their music combines aggressive riffs, harmonic leads, and tasteful breakdowns with the infectious anti-authoritarian lyrics of vocalist Bobby DeMoss.

WoR was founded in 2018 by guitarist Ben Kaiser who at the time was finishing up his college football career playing offensive line at NC State. The band was initially an escape from the rigors of the sport, and at the end of his career, he decided to give the band a legitimate go.

After cycling through a variety of members early on, WoR was joined by Bobby Demoss, the charismatic frontman who has the ability to draw in even the toughest crowd; his unique screaming style and passionate lyrics helped shape WoR’s groundbreaking identity from the get-go. In 2019, Phil Funderburk, the glue who keeps the band and the music together, joined on bass; David Nisoff, in charge of mind-blowing solos that capture everyone’s attention, joined as the second guitarist, and Hunter Crews, a consistent timekeeper and a seasoned veteran in the music business solidified the lineup as the bands’ drummer.

By the spring of 2019, WoR had begun to debut their music at live shows throughout the southeast region of the United States and played with the likes of Upon A Burning Body, Atilla, and Warbringer just to name a few.

Working collaboratively, WoR’s music focuses on various different current events using powerful lyrics to offer a unique insight into the things going on in our lives and in the world. After working closely with producer Joe Alonzo Potts and audio engineer Shaun Singerling, they plan to release their debut album “Prisoners” on August 7th, 2020, which features brutal tracks such as ‘Caged’ and ‘Predator’ in addition to melodic anthems such as ‘VI King’s.

In 2020 and 2021, WoR has extensive tours scheduled to support the release of their debut album “Prisoners”. WoR’s live shows are extremely energetic with fan involvement being a common theme. Demoss does a phenomenal job of breaking down the fourth wall and getting the crowd involved at their shows making way for insane mosh pits. It is the band’s credo that they give it their all for whatever time they are on stage whether they are playing to 2,000 people or 200 people.

Like many musicians and bands around the world, members of Montreal’s heavy stoner rockers Paradise have been separated from one another as a precaution to the Covid 19 pandemic. Not able to see each other to have regular jams along with postponements of performances, the band has adapted to the state of the world and continues to promote their heavy and winding arrangements of corrosive rock with the creation of a new quarantine video series entitled “From The Van”.

For the series, the band has recorded two songs from their latest self-titled album released this past March. Today, the band shares their first video for the track “Away From You”.

“Funny enough, we all own our own vans, so we decided to each record ourselves performing our tunes with multi-camera angles. This is Covid 19 style! We couldn’t do it on stage, couldn’t do it for our fans, so we did it in our vans!” says vocalist R.L. Black.

Back in the summer of 2002, co-founders and fellow guitar players, Frank Kelly and Jet Phil recruited good friends Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) to release Paradises 1st album “Rock Anthropologists on the Kon Tiki Voyage”. Summer of 2004, the usual suspects were rounded-up including a collaboration of Voivod’s late but great Denis “Piggy” D’Amour to work on Paradise’s follow-up record “Hotel”. Now in 2020, composed of Frank Kelly (guitars), Fred Kelly (bass), RL Black (vocals), Fred Crew Grrr (guitars) and Mat Hias (drums), Paradise, like a phoenix that is reborn from its ashes, have released a new eponymous album that sways on the line between hard stoner rock and pure heavy metal that was mixed and mastered by Kevin Jardine of  Slaves On Dope. From the opening piece and future classic “Straight From Hell” to the album closer “Free in Exile”, Paradise delivers an album where the balance between catchy riffs, attitude, intensity, and melodies is perfect.

Paradise‘s self-titled album is available for stream and download on Spotify, Bandcamp.com, and Apple Music.

“Fans of melodic heavy rock, there’s a new sheriff in town!” – Jano Lapin
“Solid, driving Hard Rock from the quagmires of Quebec!” – Reek Of STOOM
“Brilliant from start to finish !” – Stoner Rock Army
“A record that growls like a hungry beast” – ARP Média

“The synergy of this quintet gives the listener a proper kick in the ass needed to remember why we fell in love with the format. They also lend proof as to why heavy metal is the cornerstone of the myriad of hard rock subgenres. Blistering guitar riffs, thundering drums, and of course ample swipes at stuffy establishment rules.” – Boston Rock Radio

“The album opens with “Straight From Hell” and it is an adrenaline high. It is an unmistakable straight forward rock construction of verse-bridge-chorus, repeat, repeat, and the dial is set on stadium anthem. RL Black’s vocals are about as rock and roll as you can get – strong clean singing with a gruff edge. The lead breaks are short to fit in with the song structure, and they are pretty metal. I like the brand they have going here. It is great driving music, great drinking music. I would be stoked to see Paradise on the list of bands at a festival because you can just feel from these songs that they are going to put on a good show on stage.”  – Flying Fiddlesticks Music Blog

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – July 13, 2020

For fans of Russian Circles, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, And So I Watch You from Afar

Okanagan Proggers LAKEMAN Share Visually Atmospheric Live Video “Pandosy”

New EP “Progenitor” Out Now!

Visual instrumental prog band Lakeman split up earlier this year, but before they say goodbye to the age of their EP “Progenitor” released this past January, the band is sharing with fans their live video “Pandosy”, which captures footage of the band’s final night of rehearsal and last three sold-out shows in Kelowna and Penticton during November 2019.

Lakeman‘s Robert McLaren explains further:

“We worked really hard to try to get every song we wrote filmed in order to highlight the fact we were exchanging instruments and using more than the standard rock band set up.

We tried to film/record “Pandosy” on multiple occasions and it would never work out for whatever reason: technical difficulties, poor quality recording, bad performances.

When we decided to stop playing live for an indeterminate amount of time, possibly for good, we knew our final shows would be our last chance to film “Pandosy”. All week at rehearsals and even the first show of the weekend we were shaky, I remember my fiddle was out of tune the first night.

“Pandosy” is always our big ender of the night. So we played it for what might be the last time and we captured this beast of a song on film and record.

It was a fitting end if that was the end. At that time we weren’t sure.”

“Progenitor” was the second audio-visual release from LAKEMAN. Most of the EP was recorded live off the floor by Kaylub Burke at the Center for Arts and Technology with mixing and mastering by Andy Ashley. Visual elements for the EP were filmed and edited by Jonathan Robinson, and lighting was operated by Joshua Goodwin.

Lakeman‘s Robert McLaren explains the release:

“We all seem drawn to lo-fi expression for this project. I personally love to capture moments rather than reproduce them. 90% of “Progenitor” was live off the floor, recorded as a band playing together in a room. I would not suggest this for most bands, it is a waiting game to find the take that everyone played their best and usually, time is not a luxury when you are in a studio. However, you have to learn to love your blemishes and flaws as a band when you record this way. It is a form of radical self-acceptance.”

“Progenitor” is available for stream and download via Bandcamp.
CD and vinyl versions that feature individual one of a kind acrylic pour artwork are sold out.

Music Video – “Powers Creek” here.
Music Video – “25,000 + Hectares” here.

LAKEMAN had a devoted cult-like following throughout the Okanagan Valley and British Columbia. The band’s long-form instrumental and genre-bending approach beckoned audiences of various musical forms. They reveled in the band’s ability to exchange instruments everything from drums to guitars, bass, keyboards, synthesizers, and even the fiddle and banjo. All this happened on stage while the music continued seamlessly through ambient soundscapes.

The overall theme of the band was a sonic meditation of the veiled and macabre history of the Okanagan valley. The group found their sound in a deeply collaborative approach, very little of the composition was done apart, and there was no “songwriter”. The band started the compositions by first improvising together, the feel of each improvisation being vastly different based on who was playing which instrument. As mentioned earlier the band did not have assigned instrument roles as most other bands traditionally do. You could find any one of the members doing anything from turning knobs on a synthesizer to singing into a violin before they started bowing it. After finding the improvisation the band liked, they would then begin the long process of composing around this initial improvisation. Once a LAKEMAN piece of music started to take form, the band would start considering a local myth or legend to devote the theme to, this deepened the band’s thematic composition. This was when the piece would usually take its final or close to its final form.

Track Listing:
1. Powers Creek (8:08)
2. 25,000 + Hectares (7:12)
3. Pandosy (10:38)
EP Length: 25:59

Band Line Up:
Josh Bissonette: guitar, bass, keys/synth, drums
Josh Pym: guitar, bass, keys/synth, vocals
Warryn Berry: guitar, keys/synth, drums
Robert McLaren: guitar, bass, keys/synths, drums, vocals, fiddle, banjo
