“One of the nicest things about Pop A Soda is just how upbeat it sounds. The Dead Centuries delivering a track that is smart, progressive and so very catchy. All without a word spoken or sung. It might be my favourite thing they’ve done so far. It has got pace, it has got energy, it has got compelling rhythm and it challenges. Trying to pick apart every individual element will take time. Time you’ll be more than glad to give to this track. The very moment it ends you’ll be hitting play again… and again… and again. It’s damn clever and that damn good.” – Games, Brains & A Headbanging Life

“Entirely recorded and produced by the band themselves along with Jacob Umansky of Intervals on bass, their intention is to inject you with some life and positive vibes as the summer approaches us. Despite the upbeat tone of the song, the band members have ensured not to compromise any of their musical integrity, with “Pop a Soda” featuring a large quantity of the technicality which was unmistakable on Race Against Time.” – V13

“High energy instrumental metal, The Dead Centuries are all about massive hooks, futuristic riffs & technical melody. Opener Freddie Lounds is rich in skill, showcasing how a trio’s different abilities can combine to make something that sounds so grand & complete.” – Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life (2018 – Album Review – Race Against Time)

“Their music both hits you hard with big metal-infused riffs then provides the musical magic sponge with rich virtuoso, melodic guitar noodling, inspired by the likes of Protest The Hero, Intervals, Plini, Situ Aye, Paul Gilbert and more. It’s simply intoxicating to listen to.” – Gig Radar  (2018 – Album Review – Race Against Time)

“the songs on Race Against Time are exactly what we want from instrumental prog – engaging arrangements with a perfect balance of groove, riffs, and virtuosity, and enough variation to keep us listening through all ten tracks. This is a great start for The Dead Centuries.” – Heavy Music Headquarters (2018 – Album Review – Race Against Time)

“The Dead Centuries deliver a multitude of excellent riffs across the course of this album. This band is a total hook machine, and they accomplish this over a dizzying number styles. Progressive, metalcore, melodeath harmonizing, post-metal: Race Against Time has it all.” – Metal Trenches  (2018 – Album Review – Race Against Time)

“If you want a more complex and technically layered instrumental album, as well as a diverse one that you can either jam to or simply throw on as background noise, this one is for you.” – Canadian Beats  (2018 – Album Review – Race Against Time)

Visionary and highly influential writer Michael Moorcock, who worked with the bands Hawkwind and Blue Oyster Cult, memorably stated that ‘it is the business of the future to be dangerous.’

Ottawa three-piece The Dead Centuries are both futuristic and dangerous…which is as it should be. Influenced by Protest The Hero, Periphery, Paul Gilbert, Sithu Aye and Intervals, The Dead Centuries can easily hold their heads up in such exalted company.

In their current form, The Dead Centuries compose and perform technically precise instrumental music, rich in virtuosity, melody, compositional skills, and most importantly…they create superb music to listen to. This isn’t the sound of three musicians showing off their undoubted skills, rather they are serving their songs above all else, with every fibre of their beings, every neuron firing in their minds, every tendon in their bodies. In a sense it is as if the three musicians that make up The Dead Centuries have become one mind in their own music!

Adam Tremblett describes the sound of The Dead Centuries as “technical, melodic, energetic, heavy, precise.” Indeed The Dead Centuries are so precise, they are like some kind of cosmic clock; they are always on time.

The Dead Centuries had a natural evolution into the special band they are now, originally consisting of two guitarists, a bassist, female vocalist, and drummer; as members left over time, those that remained rose to the occasion and created more technical and original music.

Magic The Gathering Inspired Power Metal PLANESWALKER (created by Helion Prime current and former members)

Debut Single “The Forever Serpent” Out Now!

L-R – Sozos Michael – Vocals, Jason Ashcraft – Guitars

Inspired by Magic The Gathering card game, Planeswalker is the new power metal band founded by Helion Prime guitarist Jason Ashcraft and former vocalist Sozos Michael.

Today the band is debuting the music video for their first single entitled “The Forever Serpent”, which is based on the MTG bad boy Nicol Bolas.

Watch it on YouTube HERE.

Along with stream on Spotify and download on Bandcamp.

Jason Ashcraft explains the creation of the project:

“For those who follow Helion Prime understand that parting ways with Sozos was due to unfortunate struggles with visa issues as he lives in Cyprus, but I knew someday we’d work together again I just wasn’t sure how. I then got the idea to start a band based completely on Magic The Gathering lore because between Helion Prime and Dire Peril I think I’m good on sci-fi based material and why wouldn’t I need ANOTHER project. When I first heard the song Sozos had written for us I immediately knew it had to be about Nicol Bolas.”

Sozos Michael adds:

“I am beyond excited for the release of ‘The Forever Serpent’, our first creative output with Jason since our collaboration in Helion Prime. As you will surely notice listening to the song (and/or watching the music video), we channeled our most primal nerdiness to this endeavor, and we have no plans to slow down! We have just begun exploring the rich and deep lore of MTG, and we are excited to see where this journey will lead us.”

Planeswalker currently has no immediate plans for a full-length album but Ashcraft would like to see something in 2021.

NEWS RELEASE

For fans of Rush, Dream Theater, Haken

Proggers LUFEH Share New Video “The Unknown”

New Album “Luggage Falling Down” Out Now!

Gera Penna– Keys, Duca Tambasco – Bass, Dennis Atlas – Vocals, Teo Dornellas – Guitar, Lufeh Batera – Drums

Sophisticated, progressive, and refined, Los Angeles based progressive metallers Lufeh (a band of both Brazilian and American musicians) creates an enjoyable experience, meandering through jazz styles, heavy metal foundations, and rhythmic Brazilian influences. The mind expanded sonic journey is something new and interesting to listen to.

Released in April of 2020, “Luggage Falling Down” was a trying, yet successful first recording for these recently banded musicians who lived together for two weeks throughout the process. Having lost the original singer a month before recording began, the intrepid bunch found hope with Dennis Atlas who fell in step with the rest of the band immediately. This bond between the members can be seen in their videos along with their high energy and knack for performing.

“Luggage Falling Down” is a unique melodic story that continues to be demonstrated with their next video for the track “The Unknown”. Drummer Lufeh Batera shares his thoughts on the track:

“The Unknown started as a keyboard-driven song and became perhaps the most technical and heaviest song on the album. It features every instrument, including guitar and bass shredding, a tremendously dramatic vocal melody, and great counterpoint.”

“The Unknown” can be seen on YouTube HERE.

For fans of Dream Theater, Incubus, and Hakan, Lufeh is smooth and rhythmic progressive metal; heavy chords followed by light melodies and the occasional crazy guitar solo.

The new album “Luggage Falling Down” is available for stream and download on Lufehband.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

About:
Lufeh is a musical collaboration of excellent Brazilian and American musicians brought together by drummer Batera Lufeh. Lufeh himself has had a successful career performing with many famous Brazilian bands and artists, including one of the most well known Christian rock bands of its style, Oficina G3, among others. In 2008, he recorded his first solo album “Drummed On Classics”, which uniquely combined a mix of classical pieces with progressive rock drumming.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2014, Lufeh has continued his career as a musician, starting in Florida, where he performed with Kristo Reggae and Big Pine Band. Lufeh participated in the Blue Man Group Drum-Off in 2016, where he was awarded the privilege to take part in its grand finale in Las Vegas, and chosen as one of the top five drummers in the contest. He then moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he became the official drummer of Kenny Shipman.

Now, in 2020, Lufeh is an entire unit moving forward with the addition of Gera Penna (keyboard); Duca Tambasco (bass); Dennis Atlas (vocals);  and Teo Dornellas (guitar) who have proven to be a great match. The band recently released the highly-anticipated second album “Luggage Falling Down”, a solid record of Brazilian influenced groovy progressive metal, which has received great praise from reviewers, calling it a mix between Brazilian music, Rush, and Dream Theater.

The album is both melodic and highly energetic and aggressive. With a strong foundation in jazz and classical musicality, the band brings a metal edge to a unique melodic story. These progressive metal warriors have become tycoons of song structure and, throughout the album, display highly refined expertise in making music that is captivating to listen to, addictively technical, and uplifting.

“Luggage Falling Down” was released on April 17, 2020 and is available on all major digital platforms.

Seattle Progressive Melodic Death Metal DRAEMORA Share Guitar Playthrough “Legion of Scum” via TechnicalMusicReview

Debut EP “Awakening” Out June 26th via Ultra Nast Records

Relatively new to the Seattle metal scene, Draemora is comprised of seasoned musicians who, despite COVID-19 slowing their debut, are ready to show the world their EP “Awakening” on June 26, 2020, via Ultra Nast Records.

The EP, lyrically, is about battling with drugs and alcohol, and the long journey out of that hell. Heavy, prodigious and heartfelt, vocalist/guitarist Terry Jenkins notes his personal attachments to the lyrics he writes:

“The lyrics come right out of the pages of my life, the things I went through, and how I got through them. Music is a huge outlet for me to dump the good times, bad times, and everything else in between. The majority of the lyrics are a culmination of direct excerpts from letters, poems, and life experiences from the period between May 2018 and August 2019. It was a very intense time in my life.”

Today, the band shares their second guitar playthrough for the last song on the EP ‘Legion of Scum’.  The track is the heaviest on the release. It starts off with heavy riffs and just keeps beating you over the head till the end.  This is a banger of a track and one of the band’s favorites to play.

Guitarist Terry Jenkins adds:

“If you love Mesa/Boogie Rectifiers, Fender Strats, and Metal with huge epic riffs you are going to really enjoy this playthrough! This song is so damn fun to play and I hope you enjoy the playthrough!!! If you have additional comments feel free to ask in the comments and I’ll do my best to answer them!! Word!!!”

About:

Draemora was formed in November 2019 in the Seattle, USA area by Terry Jenkins (vocals/guitar) after his separation from his previous band Odyssian. Seeing it as an opportunity to take a chance and try something different, he wrote a handful of songs with lyrics and demoed them out at his house. These demos attracted the attention of soon to be bandmate, ex-Jesus Wears Armani drummer Jared Conelie and ex-Odyssian vocalist Taylor Wood.

After fleshing out the demos with their own personal touches on the songs, Jenkins found local guitar player Max Taylor and set out to record the 5 song EP “Awakening”.

The EP is nothing short of heavy, melodic metal infused with honest and heartfelt lyrics; This combination works perfectly with the band’s mission to evoke an intense emotional and spiritual experience that brings out the raw emotions that are suppressed all day in normal day to day lives.

“This EP lyrically is all about battles with drugs and alcohol and the long journey out of that hell.  I feel that it will connect with anyone who has ever had mental problems, family problems, or experienced relationships falling apart. I didn’t want to come across as disingenuous, or contrived and wrote about things that I really went through and put my life and my problems out there for anyone to interact with as they wish. I think this recording is intense and beautiful.  It’s angry and sad and uplifting and I think is a reflection of a human living in modern-day society.” says Jenkins.

With a slight pause in the band’s plans due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Draemora is already working away on a full-length album to follow and getting ready for when they can pummel crowds live with their heavy melodic brand of progressive death metal.

Their debut EP “Awakening” is due out June 26, 2020 via Ultra Nast Records and will be available on all major digital platforms.

“‘Guilt’ features the band’s penchant for mixing their brutal modern metal with glorious rock melodies! Think of a sound that meshes Gojira, Alien Weaponry, Faith No More, and the more recent era of Lamb of God, and you might begin to understand the group!” – Ghost Cult Mag

“In this playthrough of their song “Guilt” we see Terry from Draemora ripping away with his Fender Telecaster. His tele is loaded with a single EMG 57 and he’s boosting that guy with an Ibanez TS9 going directly into his Mesa. The deadly tone of the 2-channel and a heavy rhythm hand are such a great combo.” – Gear GodsKISW 99.9FM (Seattle) – BJ & Migs L&L BAND OF THE WEEK: Draemora (June 10, 2020)

About:

Originally starting out as a Motorhead tribute band, Vancouver, BC’s SAINTS of DEATH is a four-piece that has taken the reins to write original material with a double bassist attack and set themselves apart from the pack with their uniquely heavy sound of thrash, doom and hardcore metal.

Inspired by the Mexican folklore of Santa Muerte (Spanish for Holy Death), SAINTS of DEATH is fronted by vocalist and eight-string bassist Twan Holliday, a giant standing nearly 7’ foot tall who can also be recognized for his acting credits in some well-known Hollywood movies and pro wrestling (credits below). Holliday is joined by four string bassist Juan Helluva, guitarist Ashley Blue and Christopher James on drums to complete this ferocious line-up.

Taking their experiences from past bands (Snaggletooth, Strapping Young Lad, Farewell to Freeway, Tides of Honor & more), these veterans of the Vancouver debuted their self-titled EP in 2015 and hit the road on a series of follow up tours! Getting great reviews with both online sources as well as physical press, the band quickly climbed to the top of the Western Canadian metal scene.

Soon after making a name for themselves in their home country, SAINTS of DEATH embarked on its first international tour of Mexico during November 2018 and has since returned two more times to play multiple festivals with acts such as Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), ELO, Dave Evans (Ex – ACDC), Neil Turbin (Ex – Anthrax) and many more successful acts.

After a short hiatus and a replenished new line up, SAINTS of DEATH recorded their first full-length album (2nd release) entitled “Ascend To The Throne” set for release on July 10th, 2020 via HeadRattle Productions.

The band adds:

“This album has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait to get it into the ears of our fans. After dealing with line up issues for a few years solid, we finally have a solid line up and are back to kicking ass. The current line up has been together since 2018 and we have really gelled as friends and as band members. Naturally, with this kind of chemistry going on, it was finally time to record a new album.

Like the first EP, there is diversity between each song, allowing each of them to stand out as hard-hitting singles. There is also the consistency that allows the songs to come together as a great album. We talk about important topics such as the trials of society, corruption and corporate greed, mental health as well as a few other topics on this album. We put a lot of hard work and passion crafting this album and making it what it is and we cannot wait to show the world!”

As soon as the COVID pandemic resolves and concert life can return to normal, expect SAINTS of DEATH to set the bar high with a live behemoth of ampage, theatrics backed by a custom light show, and pushing forward to take on the biggest stages and crowds to win over fans who enjoy headbanging to such bands as Motorhead, Lamb of God, Pantera, DevilDriver.

Fun Fact: Besides being a musician vocalist/bassist Twan Holliday has acting credits for movies American Mary (2012), The Devils Ground (2009) w/ Darryl Hanna, Stan Helsing (2009) (Leslie Neielson’s last movie), Catwoman (2004) w/ Halle Barry, Psych (TV Show) plus has done stunts on Super Natural (TV Show) and Pathfinder (2007). Twan was also a pro-hard-core wrestler of 10 years and was on TV every Saturday at 1 pm on KVOS TV12 (Bellingham, WA) plus was asked to train for WWE.

Calgary’s Osyron has a new album on the way, the explosive and thought-provoking “Foundations” releasing on July 10, 2020 via SAOL/The Orchard.

According to the band “Foundations” is meant to be digested as an immersive exploration of Canadian history and identity, speaking on topics on the country’s colonization to the mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginals to the country’s participation in global warfare. Although it is not a conceptual release, it does bear a consistent theme across nearly the entirety of the record.

The band notes that this is the first album where each band member has contributed to the writing processes, which has resulted in a stronger, more refined production overall. Osyron shares their expectations for the album’s reception:

“We believe that the album will both surprise and challenge our current and new fans while still bringing back the big elements we are most known for (hooks, huge layered sections, melodies, and finger-twisting riffs, etc). We would like to think that our fans would accept this as not only the next iteration and evolution of us as a band but also as the artistic progression of the music.”

Today, Osyron brings their next video for the second single “The Ones Below”, a track that stands alone from the themes of the album as a whole and pays tribute to the loss of a loved one or friend who has left our world. This is a track everyone can pay homage to the good times and not dwell on the bad. It’s an upbeat song of hope that is inspired by the cheers of frosty mugs with a gentle touch down on the table soon followed. A salute to the ones below.

For fans of Nightwish, Dream Theater, and Wintersun; Osyron is progressive, powerful metal with a knack for engaging storytelling.

Osyron is a symphonic metal band based in Calgary, Alberta. The group consists of vocalist Reed, guitarists Krzysztof Stalmach and Bobby Harley, bassist Tyler Corbett, and drummer Cody Anstey. Bridging the gap between traditional European metal and the music of their homegrown contemporaries, Osyron has a sound all their own.

The band’s origins can be traced back to Ontario, where they began under the name Morbid Theory. After releasing two demos (Chaos Breed in 2006 and Harbinger in 2010), the band underwent some changes in membership, scenery, and identity. Moving to Alberta in 2012, the group, now rechristened Osyron, re-recorded Harbinger in Calgary, and released the album in 2013.

After releasing their sophomore album, “Kingsbane”, in the fall of 2017, the momentum that followed was swift. “Kingsbane” caught the attention of the European metal community – proving a favourite of audiences, critics, and radio programmers.

In 2018, Osyron released a metal cover of the Canadian national anthem, which picked up speed across the country. This patriotic theme continues into the new album “Foundations” (2020). Stemming from a perspective of Canadian identity and culture – both past and present, the new album challenges the global perspective of the great white north by retelling historical moments in an immersive and melodic manner. Speaking on topics of Canada’s colonization to the mistreatment and recognition of Aboriginals to the country’s participation in global warfare.

Performing alongside numerous major acts such as Norther, Protest The Hero, Into Eternity, Threat Signal, and The Agonist, Osyron’s next goal is to take their sound across the Atlantic in the flesh.

”Foundations” is due out July 10, 2020, and will be available on all major digital platforms.

Rockshots Records: SANDNESS New Single ‘Alive & Kickin’

New EP “Enter Please” Out August 21st

Hard Rock Band SANDNESS has unleashed the new single ‘Alive & Kickin’ off their new EP “Enter Please” due out August 21st via Rockshots Records.

Lyric Video HERE.
Spotify

The band comments:

“Alive & Kickin’ was the first song that we wrote after the release of our third album and we liked it so much we decided to release immediately instead of waiting for the rest of the tracks for the fourth album to be ready (yes, we are working on it!). With this song we decided to experiment a little with the sound of the synth, using it as the main riff. The lyrics talk about a very passionate love story and the melody is one of those that can get stuck in your head for days. In our eyes, this song is like the missing link between London and the love power ballad that we haven’t written yet”

About the six-track EP adds:

“‘Enter Please’ is in some way a follow-up of our third album ‘Untamed’. The new track ‘Alive & Kickin’ is a melodic rock song with a catchy synth riff – it’s a “rock club dancefloor” kind of song. Then we have our personal version of two well known 70’s rock songs, ‘Get It On’ by T-Rex and ‘Saturday Night’s Alright’ by Elton John; our intent is to show how music from the past can still be relevant and make you have a good time in the present. The second half of the EP is a live version of three songs from our album Untamed – we want people to know what a Sandness live concert sounds like”

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – June 19, 2020

For fans of Sonata Arctica, Edguy, Lost Horizon

Rockshots Records: SELENSEAS New Single ‘The Milky Way’ Off New Album Out Aug 7th

New Album “The Outer Limits” Out August 7th

Hailing from Moscow, heavy/power metal band Selenseas has signed a worldwide deal with Rockshots Records to release their new album “The Outer Limits”.

After a debut EP and the full-length “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” (2017) in their native language, the band formed in 2010 by bass player and composer Vladislav Tyushin have decided to re-record their songs for the international debut album “The Outer Limits”.

In 2019, Mikhail Kudrey, a talented vocalist, joined Selenseas as the new singer, his unique voice and charisma turned out to be a perfect addition to the band’s style, and recording sessions for the revamped international version of  “Za gran’yu vozmozhnogo” followed immediately.

The band decided to re-record almost all instruments for the album “The Outer Limits” and to ensure a more powerful and epic sound, several guest musicians were invited: Sergei Lazar (Arkona, Rossomahaar), Ivan Garin, Andrey Zodchiy (ex-Dis Pater), Alexey Verbitsky (Legenda) and Gamil Makhmutov (ex-Ethno-Sound).

Composer Vladislav Tyushin comments:

“This album is filled with powerful and epic sound, and each song has its own meaning, style, and mood. At the same time, all the songs are united by the same atmosphere and are part of the same universe. They are portals, pages of a book, doors which will take you to different worlds and lead you to discover something interesting. All you need is but a single step across the boundary!”

“The Outer Limits” contains elements of folk, progressive, doom, hard rock but is centered around the heavy/power metal genre and will be released worldwide on August 7, 2020.

“The Milky Way” is the first single available as official audio and digital streaming/download at the followings links:

The band adds:

“The Milky Way is a song with the lyrics based on a legend about the Milky Way called “The road with sand, pearls, and tears” (written by Lyubov Talimonova) and also inspired by the “Fallout” game universe. ‘Post-apocalyptic’ reflections on the past and future.
