Canada’s Paradise has been on hiatus since 2005, but by the will of the volcanic rock gods, they have resurfaced with new music ready to blow your mind. Mixed and mastered by Kevin Jardine from Slaves On Dope, their self-titled album recently released on March 13, 2020 via Vega Musique is ready to prove to fans that they haven’t grown complacent in their absence. Featuring 10 punchy tracks, the lead single ‘Straight From Hell’ has a new high-octane video to fully embrace the smooth, catchy hard rock that they have been known for over the years. Recommend for fans of Clutch, Queens of The Stone Age, Kyuss, and Volbeat, this is a heavy blend of corrosive rock.

“We think we’re right in between heavy rock and metal with a stoner feel sometimes. We really tried to have different vibes throughout the record and not have the pedal to the metal on each song like the previous ones.”

Paradise‘s previous releases, 2002’s “Rock Anthropologists On The Kon Tiki Voyage” featured Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) and follow-up record, 2005’s “Hotel” included a collaboration with Voivod’s late Denis “Piggy” D’Amour. Paradise‘s current line up is composed of Frank Kelly (guitars), Fred Kelly (bass), RL Black (vocals), Fred Crew Grrr (guitars) and Mat Hias (drums),

Since reforming, Paradise have played many impactful live shows including a tour in Cuba in 2019, where they ended up giving away all of their merchandise for free along with an Orange amp to one of the opening bands.

Back in the summer of 2002, co-founders and fellow guitar players, Frank Kelly and Jet Phil recruited good friends Mike Plant (Sword) and drum god Michel “Away” Langevin (Voivod) to release Paradises 1st album: “Rock Anthropologists on the Kon Tiki Voyage”. Summer of 2004: the usual suspects were rounded-up including a collaboration of Voivod’s late but great Denis “Piggy” D’Amour to work on Paradise’s follow-up record “Hotel”. BADGUYSWIN will be releasing their debut full length “Cowards” this Friday, April 10th and before it officially drops, the band has teamed up with Bravewords for its exclusive stream HERE.

Nirvana and Soundgarden may be no more, but the members of Canada’s BADGUYSWIN are here to serve up your guilty pleasure for an era of rock n’ roll that’s knocking on doors and making its comeback. Heavy driven grunge-inspired loud amps, blended with clean vocals, plentiful harmonies, and driving rhythms are what fuels this Grand Forks, BC band to keep things stuck in your head for days to come!

Featuring 3 out of 4 members from technical metal band Slagduster, BADGUYSWIN shows off their original roots in music, the grunge era of the 90s where they would glue themselves to the stereo for hours. The members of BADGUYSWIN also all grew up together in the same small town and have been playing music together in various ways for 15 years.

The band’s debut full length “Cowards” was written to give the listener an experience that doesn’t repeat itself over 12 tracks. It’s an album that is a heavy and hooky modern take on a classic sound with influences that are everything 90’s in grunge, stoner, alternative, and punk. It was conceived organically, performed and recorded DIY style at the home studio of drummer Zak Waterlow with mastering by Brock McFarlane of CPS studios in Vancouver. The album has a crisp and larger than life sound. With plenty of easter eggs that’ll have you searching for more from each listen.

“We have worked tirelessly over the last year writing, tweaking and recording our first release and we’re just quivering with anticipation to share with the world our modern take on grunge rock. After years of writing complex and intricate music, members of Slagduster embrace their musical roots and write a rock record that defies decades. “This song came together easily. We had been searching for a very rhythmic groove to insert under the guitar riff. Once Zak added the pulsing kick drum to the steady thumping bass riff we all squealed in delight. Our goal of creating a fun video to represent the vibe of the music while contradicting the lyrical content of the song resulted in the “Alien Pool Party” idea, stemming from Alex’s persistent insistence on having sexy aliens in some sort of minimal clothing atmosphere. Aiming for an old school look with psychedelic overtones; we definitely achieved it.”

For fans of Deep Purple, Queens of The Stone Age, Black Keys, and Kyuss, Black Mastiff‘s new album “Loser Delusions” is a blizzard of distortion that will be experienced this coming Friday, October 18, 2019 via Grand Hand Records. Before the album officially drops, the Edmonton riff masters have teamed up with Bravewords for its exclusive full stream premiere HERE.

Ready to put listeners into a fuzzy mood with their signature groove with their new album ‘Loser Delusions’, this latest release from Black Mastiff explores new territories, with distinctive, thick sounds and soulful vocals that are immediately recognizable.

“Loser Delusions” is much more eclectic than their previous record, “Music Machine”, and shows the band is comfortable stepping outside of the expected. With “Loser Delusions”, the band is inviting fans on a musical journey that passes through all things rock n’ roll, from garage to prog, there are many influences that Black Mastiff has not previously tapped into that are present on this new album.

Bio:

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff (Bob Yiannakoulias, Clay Shea, Allan Harding) is a band built around lifelong friendships and having fun, a vibe they’ve extended to both their porous, heavy, and vigorous live performance, and their recordings.

With their third full-length album Loser Delusions (Fall 2019), keeping it together became a literal priority. During the four years since their well-received Music Machine (New Damage Records, 2015), recorded and beautifully produced at Thunder Underground Studio in the desert of Palm Springs with John Garcia (Kyuss, Vista Chino), the trio had to change their perception of how a band operates. Already Renaissance men and entrepreneurs in other life ventures, when facing unforeseen challenges the band sharpened their production and business know-how by starting their own label, Grand Hand, with tour mates Chron Goblin. When drummer Allan moved to Vancouver, they decided to see how distance apart could add to, rather than take away from, their creative process and sound. The result is a determined continuation of what they do best, with a voyaging out into new sonic territory.

The guitar, drums, and bass are working together with a very precise heavy heating march. That’s how we do our thing. When singing this song I thought a lot about Bobby Liebling and Blue Cheer doing “Summertime Blues”. As a filmmaker, I love animation and movies old rotoscope movies like ‘The Hobbit’ from 1977.I tried to draw from that style but with an added sense of humour.” says Yiannakoulias.

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff (Bob Yiannakoulias, Clay Shea, Allan Harding) is a band built around lifelong friendships and having fun, a vibe they’ve extended to both their porous, heavy, and vigorous live performance, and their recordings.

With their third full-length album Loser Delusions (Fall 2019), keeping it together became a literal priority. During the four years since their well-received Music Machine (New Damage Records, 2015), recorded and beautifully produced at Thunder Underground Studio in the desert of Palm Springs with John Garcia (Kyuss, Vista Chino), the trio had to change their perception of how a band operates. Already Renaissance men and entrepreneurs in other life ventures, when facing unforeseen challenges the band sharpened their production and business know-how by starting their own label, Grand Hand, with tour mates Chron Goblin. When drummer Allan moved to Vancouver, they decided to see how distance apart could add to, rather than take away from, their creative process and sound. The result is a determined continuation of what they do best, with a voyaging out into new sonic territory.

Edmonton’s Black Mastiff are ready to put listeners into a fuzzy mood with their signature groove with their new album ‘Loser Delusions’ out on October 18, 2019 via Grand Hand Records.

WAINGRO is not just a crazy, terrible human for hire trying to make his life in L.A. as portrayed in the 1995 film Heat. It’s also the name of a crazy rock n’ roll band who are making their way through the Canadian music scene and beyond with the release of their upcoming third album “III” set to be released in the UK on vinyl and digitally worldwide via Sludgelord Records on August 16th along with its Canadian vinyl release on September 13th via No List Records.

Using the character from Mann’s movie as a jumping-off point, the Vancouver band imagines further scenarios of pre-Heat WAINGRO situations. Releasing three singles ‘Red Death’, ‘Bay Area Cult’ and ‘Merrin’ in preview to the upcoming album, the band is now ready to share with fans the full length’s complete stream YouTube channel Stoned Meadow of Doombefore it is officially out.

The band adds:

“The first album was kind of chaotic, the second one explored the stoner/doom side of things a bit more, and this new and third one is a mix of the two, but with a more grunge/noise element to it. It’s a nice addition to anyone’s heavy, noisy rock catalogue.” 

“III”, as suggested, is the third album from WAINGRO and has shown considerable growth from their previous releases “Mt. Hood” (2015) and Self-Titled (2014).

Fueled by a passion for stoner rock and punk; Brian Sepanzyk (guitars/vocals), Benjie Nesdoly (drums) and Nate Pennell (bass/backing vocals) took the heaviness of hardcore, the groove from stoner rock and then added subtle desert rock highlights to work on what would come to be known as Waingro.

The experienced musicians have honed their craft in several other bands over the years, but it wasn’t until they formed Waingro that Sepanzyk (guitar/vocals), Nesdoly (drums), and Nate Pennell (bass/backing vocals) were truly able to explore their talents in the abrasive desert rock band. While their earlier material can be considered stoner hardcore with releases Self Titled (2014) and Mt. Writing about situations from the character’s potential point of view complemented with visual landscapes for his possibilities, Waingro have played several festivals across Canada and with their latest album around the corner, will be looking to further their reach in the future.
