Montreal’s death thrashcore rippers BORNBROKEN have added new vocalist Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) to their line up and have just unleashed a new whopper of a tune featuring Peloquin entitled ‘A Nation of Ignorance’ for metal heads gearing up to vote in Canada’s federal election this week.

Guitarist Mike Decker comments:

“Doesn’t it seem that there are more lies exposed then truths being revealed and are we are letting it happen right before our eyes? Our latest single talks about a nation of ignorance we elected into power, that conceals everything behind a cloak of secrecy, conspiracy and silence. Well it’s time we expose the incompetence, stop the confusion before it all turns into chaos. The best way to protest and raise your voice is by voting. Make yourself heard and not be one of the forgotten.

We also like to add, we like to welcome into the band Pepe Poliquin (ex-Endast) on vocals. Pepe stepped down from playing guitar (for health reasons) and has given everything he’s got to be the voice for BornBroken. We also like to thank everyone who hung out along for the ride since our debut album “The Healing Powers of Hate”. It’s been a long a bumpy road, since our last single “Watch the World Unwind”, with lots of curves and dead ends, but we always seem to pull through. In the immortal words of Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies) “You Cant Bring Me Down!.”

Its time to hear the cry once more, and feel the rise again! The battle hasn’t just begun and it will never be over, unless we raise our voices together as one.

About the band:

BornBroken are a Montreal-based metal band uniting the world through their unique take on explosive death/thrashcore. The band is three parts vocals with Pepe Waitforit Poliquin as the lead singer and Mike Decker and Simon Savard performing double-duty on guitar and vocals, one part low-end bass crafted by Tommy Vaillancourt, and one hundred percent integrity.

BornBroken is the sound of the beaten and the fallen overcoming their outlook of a blackened tomorrow through the medium of aggressive, galloping metal. Lyrically, the focus remains on taking sorrow and anger and rising up from the ashes to rebuild and heal a new world from one that’s crumbling down around us now. Lyrics have had a very personal connection for the band since their beginnings in 2008. Much of the band cut their teeth playing in local groups like Endast, Burn Unit, Dilute the Poison and Mort au Combat.

Contrary to their raw, aggressive music they are incredibly passionate about truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty, and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality, which is all exposed on their debut album ‘The Healing Powers Of Hate’ released in 2013. The album was nominated for Metal Album of The Year at the 2014 GAMIQ Awards (Gala Alternatif de la Musique Indépendante du Québec), fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th, 2013) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus was named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June 2013 by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal. The band is planning a heavy follow up for 2016 and after months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken has managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars, and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the story line. Montreal’s VANTABLACK WARSHIP is a devastating maelstrom of dark, slow-churning metal, ready to devastate all in its path. About:

Like the slow churn of a mechanical wheel grinding metal, the warship produces a punishing onslaught of sound from start to finish. SCISSORTOOTH has teamed up with Bravewords.com to promote their single ‘10 30’off of their full-length ‘Novagomorrah’ released on July 28th via Galy Records. Contrary to how the track name appears, it is in fact a calendar date — October 30 otherwise known as the Devil’s Night, which is an integral part of the 1994 film The Crow. Vancouver’s old school thrashers had this to say about the song.

“‘10 30’ is the Devil’s night! What started as a jokey “oldies metal” riff became one of our favorite songs to play. Lyrics were inspired from a “Paradise Lost” quote in the movie The Crow and just the primeval urge of wanting to destroy everything around you and see it burn. The song maintains a solid pace and weight, it always slams hard live and we can’t wait to play it on tour. ‘Novagomorrah’ is just under 1 hour (58 min total) spread over tracks engineered and mixed by the band’s own, Shawn Hoskins, and mastered by Vancouver’s Greg Mindorff at Suite Sound Labs (Biff Naked, D.O.A., Finger 11). Their sound embodies the aggressive, yet groovy feeling of early Pantera braised with industrial samples throughout the album.

Biography

Scissortooth is a Canadian Thrash Metal band from Vancouver, B.C.. Formed in 2003 by Derek Lundblad (Vocalist/guitarist) and Shawn Hoskins (drummer), formerly from Mantra, moved to the west coast from Grande Prairie, A.B.. The current line-up comprises of founding members Lundblad, Hoskins, and Ken Firomski (bassist), Ken (Empyria and Cradle to Grave) who moved from Granisle B.C.. (Empyria and Cradle to Grave).

The band’s melodic hooks, varying tempos, and aggressive musicianship alongside of original writing approach and unique timbre has given their songs a different edge to most modern acts. Influenced by a wide spectrum of sounds of bands like Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth, Type O Negative to Soundgarden, Tool, Pink Floyd and Nine Inch Nails have lent to the songwriting and arrangements a flavor that fills a void in today’s often bland musical climate.

Their debut full length, Novagomorrah is scheduled to be release July 28, 2015.

False Flag – Nest of Vipers EP – Nest of Vipers Tour

Calgary’s down-tuned super group False Flag are a heavy hitting 4 piece that produce loud groovy metal.

Formed in 2012 as a side project for Russ Gauthier (Lordosis, Meggido, and We Found The Body) and Nick Purdy (Meggido). They soon recruited Garrett McElroy (AfterEarth) as a bass player and recorded their first EP (Orobas) at Garrett’s apartment studio.

Prior to performing at Calgary Metalfest, and Vernstock the band recruited Dan Ishak (Meggido, Stinger) on bass as Garrett’s band Afterearth was picking up steam. In January 2014 False Flag started recording the full length album “Suffer In Silence”. Finally guitarist Mike Harach (Meggido, Stinger) was added and solidified the bands thick live sound. John Byskal (We Found The Body) joined the band (replacing Nick Purdy) in February 2015 and their lineup was settled.

False Flag is currently in the studio recording their 3rd release, “Nest Of Vipers” EP. The EP will be released August 4th, 2015 and will start with an Alberta/Saskatchewan tour July 2015.

Local dudes from Essex County (an hour south of Windsor/ Detroit area) , THEM COUNTY BASTARDZ are in it to make old school metal with back forty rock and having fun while doing it! Their album ‘Sick Daze’ is produced by Chris Towle and TBC plus mastered by Chuck Carvaalho, and features seven tracks inspired by true stories and experiences of the band living life in the county.

Fun Fact: The album title Sick Daze refers to when you take a Monday off work because you are still feeling the weekend fun.

“Once upon a time, metal was actually fun, no really. And the splendidly named Them County Bastardz harken back to that era. What you got here are some seriously well-written riff-based tracks (crushing riffs, real’ wall of sound’ stuff) in the vein of Black Label Society and Pantera circa Cowboys From Hell. There’s also something of Alice In Chains in there too. Good influences, but Them County Bastardz have a strong personality all of their own. Overall, it’s like some crazy concept album. Formed when three Newfoundlanders crossed paths in the Canadian heavy metal capital with Ahmed Saad who hails from the Middle East, the injection of music immediately began to flow through their veins and M.E.C.H. metal was soon born.

“It stands for Middle East Coast Heavy Metal; Our drummer being from the Middle East and the rest of the members being from the east coast of Canada,” explains Stephen Reynolds (bass, vocals). ‘Every single person in this band is a songwriter, so the songs come out with their own feel and develop naturally.’ continues Reynolds. ‘We don’t shackle ourselves to any kind of focused idea, which brings about a sort of honesty in the music not often found in metal.’
