Following in the footsteps of bands such as Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL has left the beaten path to forge their own brand of blackened death metal that’s overflowing with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages and accompanied by a storm of punishing percussion with vicious vocal harmonies to expand on their previous work on Malignance.

Over the last few years, the Ottawa, ON based rock nerds have toured across Canada six times, twice in the UK and the States, performing 500+ shows over 100,000 miles and sharing the stage with such acts as Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, Every Time I Die, Dead and Divine, Lifestory:Monologue to name a few. Their new album ‘721835’ is a curious collection of songs that are inspired by everything the band loves and considers nerdy. VESPERIA are proud to announce they will hitting the road this June for dates in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in addition to their previously announced Ontario shows in April and May, which includes a support date for Septicflesh, Moonspell and Death Stars in Toronto on May 13th.

“We are incredibly excited to finally hit the road again and for the first time play some dates in the Maritimes of our lovely homeland of Canada! These shows have been a long time coming as we have had many fans emailing us to play over the years and in some cases – driving to Ontario or Quebec to catch a show. Following a steady period of complete recluse, VESPERIA have burst forth through the gates of sequestration and solidified a new lineup with the addition of talented young drummer Dylan Gowan (son of Lawrence Gowan (Styx)), and a new EP to follow up to 2013’s An Olden Tale.

The title for the upcoming EP will be called ‘The Iron Tempest’ and will span around 18-24 minutes long. Helming the engineering side of the effort will be Ryan Bovaird (frontman of Canadian melodeath band Hallow’s Die). The artwork below was created by none other than VESPERIA‘s frontman Morgan Rider at his own White North Studios (http://whitenorthstudios.com).

Red Deer, AB groove metal five piece Leave The Living bring forth a blue-collar work ethic when it comes to making the ground shake before them. Listen up! You want mosh happy crossover-thrash from another planet? Fast riffs? Rippin’ solos? Then stop giving a fuck what other people think and prepare for some neck aerobics from Montreal, QC’s MUTANK!

Formed when three Newfoundlanders crossed paths in the Canadian heavy metal capital with Ahmed Saad who hails from the Middle East, the injection of music immediately began to flow through their veins and M.E.C.H. metal was soon born.

“It stands for Middle East Coast Heavy Metal; Our drummer being from the Middle East and the rest of the members being from the east coast of Canada,” explains Stephen Reynolds (bass, vocals).

It also just so happens to be the title of the band’s debut album ‘M.E.C.H. Metal’, which features eight monumental thrash tracks that will either make you want to punch something or just plain dance while delivering thoughtful, honest lyrics for those who wish to look deeper.

“Every single person in this band is a songwriter, so the songs come out with their own feel and develop naturally.’ continues Reynolds. ‘We don’t shackle ourselves to any kind of focused idea, which brings about a sort of honesty in the music not often found in metal.’
