Hamilton, ON’s hard hitting, heavy riffing melodic groove metal band Deathpoint whom debut at #20 on CMJ Rock Radio charts for their debut album ‘Sinister’ have teamed up with Blank TV to premiere their new music video ‘Between The Lines’.
“The band is very excited to release this video. We had a blast shooting it in that creepy haunted looking house; I swear when the floors creaked there was a ghostly presence watching over us. We had a lot of fun just trying different things with the song and very happy with director Garrett Henry and his creative mind. We can’t wait for people to see this video and spread it online. The band also has tour dates coming up and we are anxious to announce, keep your eyes and ears open.” comments vocalist Tom Emmans.

About: Hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Deathpoint is a melodic groove metal band with a passion for persistence. What started out in bassist Brad Gold’s basement in 2005 when he was barely thirteen years old alongside childhood friend Cameron White on guitar, the band steadily grew into something promising. Drummer Mike Labate was introduced to the band by guitarist David Johnson. David left the band shortly after, leaving the trio of Brad, Cameron and Mike as an instrumental progressive metal band. Searching for a vocalist via Kijiji, Jonnie Barr was the next addition to the line-up. Deathpoint’s first show was in late 2007, and began playing regularly in the local scene. The desire for a second guitarist became apparent for harmonies and rhythms, and Mike Paling stood up to the task. Paling only stayed with the band for a very short period of time before they parted ways, leading to the addition of his replacement, Henry Joldersma – a high school friend of drummer Mike Labate.
Deathpoint released their debut album “Fixation” on May 7th 2010 and immediately began playing more shows alongside bands such as Threat Signal, Quo Vadis, The Agonist, Divine Heresy, and Moonspell. Shortly after “Fixation” was released, Cam White and Deathpoint parted ways due to a difference of priorities; with a very promising career ahead of him, White chose to pursue his education in computer engineering at the University of Waterloo. The band placed an ad on Kijiji once again, this time seeking a guitarist. Tim Ross responded, and it was clear he was man for the job. Brad, Mike, Henry, Jonnie and Tim released the band’s EP “Suffer” in August 2011.
The writing process for “Sinister” began within six months of releasing “Suffer,” and by August 2012 they began recording the new album. Jonnie Barr suffered a vocal cord injury which prevented him from performing and recording vocals, and Deathpoint decided it was time move on in another direction. The split was amicable in nature, as Jonnie was very understanding of the band’s desire to take the next step in driving forward. Jonnie and Deathpoint are still the best of friends; business did not get in the way of their strong brotherly bond. Frantically searching for a new vocalist to appear on the album, Tom Emmans of Odium offered his service for hire. After hearing the instrumental tracks and realizing the potential of what could be in store for Deathpoint, he immediately decided to join full-time.

BIO:
No good could possibly come out of the frigid Northern lands of Alberta, you say? Well, sorry to tell you, there’s an exception to every rule. Enter smoldering power-thrash five-piece Edge of Attack.
Combining haunting vocals, shredding guitars, complex bass lines, furious drumming and choral and symphonic arrangements with surprising depth, Edge of Attack has not only taken the metal scene by storm, but also by surprise. Having been featured in Revolver magazine, you’d think the band has surely been around for years, but truth be told, they’ve accomplished all this while releasing no more than two singles.
Representing the changes that have taken place and the reinvention of Edge of Attack’s sound, the self-titled album, which was produced by guitarist/vocalist Jurekk Whipple himself and is soon to be released with Spread the Metal Records, is, simply put, a reawakening and rebirthing of power metal with thrash creeping its way into the picture.

Canadian Music Week – March 21 – MATT TRACK – Quebec’s Folk/Roots Sensation

Quebec’s folk/roots sensation Matt Track is setting his sights on Ontario, more specifically on Canadian Music Week, playing an opening night showcase as part of Canadian Music Fest (CMF) on Wednesday, March 21 at the Free Times Café (320 College St., Toronto).
An avid guitarist from the age of nine, Matt Track learned from The Beatles, played in punk bands throughout high school, took up singing in his mid-teens and at last ended up discovering that his musical path of choice actually lay in the folk/roots genre.
Having released a number of albums, played the Vans Warped Tour, opened up for David Usher and even conquered Portugal in a mini six-date tour, Matt Track has come a long way since releasing his first three-song demo, aptly titled ‘Appetizer,’ back in 2006.
His latest project – four seasons; four EPs – was born from the search to create something original and primal, without the extravagant use of effects and technology that is readily found in today’s music industry.
The result carries listeners through and interesting mélange of grooves and melodies that all sync with one another while telling a number of stories, sharing in their simplicity and the predominance of Matt’s beloved acoustic guitar.
Adding an extra layer of originality to it all, each EP was recorded outdoors in a search to showcase the natural sounds of each season on each corresponding EP.
On March 21, Matt Track will take the stage as part of Canadian Music Fest’s opening night celebrations to showcase the unique talent and creativity that have made him a household name, uniting CMF’s international crowd with his universal music.

About: Matt is an acoustic guitar lover. Furthermore, the construction of each of his song actually begins with a thick and strong layer of it. He likes to put enough details in it so that the songs can be just as interesting to hear solo as they will be full band.
Having played in rock bands while he was a teenager, it’s by discovering artists such as John Mayer, Dave Matthews and Ben Harper that the interest for the acoustic has grown for him. After a few years giving acoustic live performances of songs from these artists, he started writing his own music, creating an interesting blend from these influences.
It is from an association with solid musicians such as the drummer Francis Gaulin (Alain-Francois, Dir. Musicale Gala des Oliviers 2009…) and bassist Jeremi Roy (Marco Calliari, Gitans de Sarajevo, Frootfly…) that the songs took their full band flavour.
After the the three songs demo “Appetizer” in 2006, Matt is invited to play the opening act for Nicolas Sarcevic (millencolin) at the Lambi in Montreal. Having enjoyed the performance, the independant label Freedumb Records produced the album “Main Dish”, which came out in stores in april 2008 with Distribution Select.
A bit more than 50 performances followed the album, namely; 2 venues of the Vans Warped Tour, a small 6 dates tour in Portugal, Le Festival du Cochon de Ste-Perpetue, Musique en Vue in Cowansville and an opening act for David Usher permitted the band to develop the right fusion and experience with the songs to build a solid set.
It’s with this bagage that the band is now entering a project of 4 E.P’s (1 per season). They’re aiming for a natural and human sound for a “kebab” of songs that will carry the listener through a variety of interesting grooves and melodies ‘in sync’ with the season they will represent.
