Montreal’s Dark Century Announce New Release ‘Murder Motel’ Out April 18th; New Music Video ‘Kill The Crowd’

Kill The Crowd! Kill The Crowd! Kill The Crowd! is the constant chant you get from fans when Montreal’s aggressive, hilarious, heavy and bloody five-piece Dark Century take the stage and inject a party of trans fat, bacon and moshing fun times (see live video of bacon throwing). No wonder the band was one of the two finalists at the En Route To Heavy MTL Battle of the Bands in 2012, winning their spot to play on Canada’s largest metal fest along with sharing the stage over the years with such established acts as Aborted, Misery Index, Quo Vadis, Anonymus, Rose Funeral, Exhumed, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Goatwhore, Origin, The Faceless, Battlecross, Erimha, Fuck The Facts to name a few.
Welding death, thrash, grind and hardcore, Dark Century returns in 2014 with their sophomore album ‘Murder Motel’ to follow up 2009’s debut ‘Days of The Mosh’. Produced by one of Montreal’s most respected metal producers Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Mythosis, Erimha, The Agonist, Derelict, Neuraxis), ‘Murder Motel’ is 11 tracks of fury that attacks with vicious lyrics in both English and French, heavy speed demon guitars, pummelling drums accompanying by pounding bass force and ear grind wrenching screams.
“This CD is for the moshers; it grooves, it’s alive and it’s breathing bacon-breath in your face. The writing process for MURDER MOTEL was extensive and well thought-out, but this time we feel we’ve been able to spit out way more of what this band is all about. We are energy, violence and humour incarnate. So it’s right there, guitar solos now included!! Delivered in one package for the world to munch on cholesterol-filled foods while they listen to it.
Some previous subjects are revisited just as much as some new short stories have risen to give fresher flavors to our greasy art. Be ready to get pounded, blasted, shredded and pecked alive by zombie birds because our sophomore effort release is no serious matter. It’s f***ing hilarious!” comments vocalist Leather King.

Music is art and art is music! The Rising Few are not just the musicians, they are also all the filmmakers, photographers, designers, actors, directors that lend their talent to the artistic spectrum with their illustrations, paintings, designs, photography and film all under one thematic roof.
As the band prepares for the release of their debut album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ on March 25th, vocalist / front man Karim Terouz, an illustrator by trade is sharing with fans signed 12×12 high res illustrations he created for pre-orders of the album. About: The Rising Few was born when professional illustrator Karim Terouz left his hometown of Cairo at the age of 25, he not only made the ballsy decision to brace the blistering Canadian winters, he also chose to seek out a whole new career path in Montreal.
Turning to his true passion – music – Terouz began visiting every open mic night imaginable, which is how he came to discover Hubert Tremblay (Guitars) and Andrew Sudlow (Bass), the rest (Isaac Gesse on Trumpet and Harvey Bienaime on Drums) followed through to complete The Rising Few.
Fusing folk, blues, rock and pop, The Rising Few found their sound. One which showcases influences such Cat Stevens, The Tragically Hip and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Terouz’s Egyptian heritage with the band’s R&B / soul inspirations.
30 live shows later and a first place win at the LME showcase competition (http://www.landmarkevents.net) in which the band beat out 200+ others for top honours, the band is ready to indulge music fans in some “punchy Montreal soul” with their upcoming album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ set for release on March 25th.
Produced by the great Glen Robinson known for his mixing and mastering credits on projects with Dave Grohl’s Probot, The Ramones, David Bowie, AC/DC, Keith Richards, The Tea Party, Grim Skunk, Ringo Starr, The Beach Boys and many more over the course of his career. ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is the perfect soundtrack for Canada’s most vibrant city.

From Nashville to Seattle, from California to The Carolinas, Edmonton, AB’s favourite rock roots band Stone Iris has taken their music far and wide. Wrapping up four North American tours since 2011 and recently being nominated ‘Group of The Year’ for the Edmonton Music Awards, the road nomads have posted their latest music video ‘Longview’, which is a compilation of tour / road footage. ‘Longview’ is the third single off the band’s latest and second album release from 2013 ‘Grande National’, which was recorded while the band was in Louisville, KY on their 2013 spring tour. Wacken Metal Battle Canada is proud to unleash in promotion of this year’s 2014 battle line up, a FREE DOWNLOAD compilation featuring some of the indie metal bands competing in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

About: Over 100 independent Canadian metal bands have been selected to participate in this year’s Wacken Metal Battle Canada line up in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The bands will compete during the months of March, April and May in 22 qualifying rounds, 6 semi-finals, and an Alberta final along with the national final being held on June 7th in Toronto, ON at Opera House.
One band will be chosen to represent the nation with highest honour at this year’s 2014 international battle at the world’s most prestigious metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany.
The finals will have the following representation and will be judged along with all other rounds by a panel of music industry representatives.
1 finalist from Vancouver, BC
1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off in Alberta final)
2 finalists from Toronto, ON
1 finalist from Montreal, QC
Last year’s battle was witnessed to Toronto, ON’s epic power/death metal band Crimson Shadows not only winning the 2013 Canadian final but conquering the international final and performing in front of thousands unknown to their behemoth sound. (Video of that champion set can be viewed here.) The band joined a list of Canadian heavyweights such as Voivod, Exciter, Razor, Annihilator, Anvil, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, 3 Inches of Bloods, Despised Icon and Danko Jones who have performed at the festival in years past.
Submissions were open from December 5, 2013 to January 31, 2014.

Vancouver’s Kill Matilda has posted a new music video for their track ‘Law Abiding Citizen’ from their upcoming six song EP/ re-release ‘#Punk#Zombie#RocknRoll‘ due out on March 4th. On the road again! One of America’s favourite comedy rock bands Psychostick are kicking off 2014 with their Mad Marchness Tour that includes a SXSW showcase on March 13th at Red Dog in Austin, TX and a show date at South By So What? on March 15th at Quicktrip Park in Grande Prairie, TX (Dallas/ Forth Worth area).

About:
Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they’ve coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.
Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music that Chimaira, Machine Head, and Hatebreed would be proud of, and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.
With three full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title,” “Sandwich,” and their holiday album, “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” – the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.
After a successful 2013 that saw these touring ninja warriors hit the road for multiple shows on the ‘Our Tour Can Beat Up Your Tour’, ‘Blow Your Fingers Off’ summer tour, their late summer dates with American Head Charge plus appearances at summer fests that included Rockapalooza, A2 Fest, Breast Fest Biker Bash, and Dirtfest. Montreal, QC’s infectious rock band The Rising Few have posted their latest music video ‘I Want You Now’ in support of their upcoming debut album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’.
“This song was inspired by a beautiful barmaid working behind the counter at the Rouge nightclub (Prince Arthur/St-Laurent) in the summer of 2012. To make things even better, the actual barmaid that sparked this bar-song is the actress for the music video. It was a dream come true to have her as the actual ”GIRL” of the inspired song.” says vocalist/ guitarist Karim Terouz. “Great thanks to CLEBARD for lending us their space, Base-Bin Studio, many thanks to BUBO productions, Jorge Zavagno and of course The Rising Few fans for being our classy extras!”

Set for release on March 25th, ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is a tribute to the city of Montreal, QC and its nightlife that front man Karim Terouz has fallen in love with since calling it home after immigrating from Cairo, Egypt. Produced by the great Glen Robinson known for his mixing and mastering credits on projects with Dave Grohl’s Probot, The Ramones, David Bowie, AC/DC, Keith Richards, The Tea Party, Grim Skunk, Ringo Starr, The Beach Boys and many more over the course of his career. ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is the perfect soundtrack for one of Canada’s most vibrant city’s.
“‘Sinners On St. Laurent’ is really an observation of the new guy in town and written with a slight abstract touch to leave the space for the listener to relate to his/her own experiences. It depicts the colours and sultry details of the city’s nightlife.” comments vocalist/guitarist Karim Terouz.

About: The Rising Few was born when professional illustrator Karim Terouz left his hometown of Cairo at the age of 25, he not only made the ballsy decision to brace the blistering Canadian winters, he also chose to seek out a whole new career path in Montreal.
Turning to his true passion – music – Terouz began visiting every open mic night imaginable, which is how he came to discover Hubert Tremblay (Guitars) and Andrew Sudlow (Bass), the rest (Isaac Gesse on Trumpet and Harvey Bienaime on Drums) followed through to complete The Rising Few.
Fusing folk, blues, rock and pop, The Rising Few found their sound. One which showcases influences such Cat Stevens, The Tragically Hip and Bruce Springsteen, as well as Terouz’s Egyptian heritage with the band’s R&B / soul inspirations.
30 live shows later and a first place win at the LME showcase competition (http://www.landmarkevents.net) in which the band beat out 200+ others for top honours, the band is ready to indulge music fans in some “punchy Montreal soul” with their upcoming album ‘Sinners On St. Laurent’.
