Rejecting the technical arms race that overwhelms modern metal, Vancouver, BC’sWITCH OF THE WASTE strives to reach new levels of raw intensity while keeping their aesthetic vision close in sight. Unleashing their new EP ‘Made of Teeth’ out today, March 24th to follow up 2013’s debut ‘All Other Voices‘, they offer fast, churning and swelling guitar riffs laid over manic loud drumming topped off with dynamic barking vocals and high otherworldly shrieks. Influences range from Converge, Oathbreaker, and Ulcerate to Sigur Ros and Pink Floyd. Their music is a terrifying exploration and an emotional upheaval that has lead the band to share the stage with such bands as Tesseract, Animals As Leaders, Intronaut, Gorguts, Gojira, Archspire, Anciients, Norma Jean, Fall City Fall, Havok, Cloudkicker, After The Burial and many more.

“For us, the lines that exist between hardcore metal and punk are more closely associated with our moods than our tastes. We have always been fans of music in all its forms and we attempted to channel all of that all at once. We wanted each riff to carry that weight. Because of that we feel we have made something very personal to us and we have always felt that artistic expression should always be valued above all else. When you hear ‘Made of Teeth’ you aren’t listening to five guys who wanted to sound like a mix between the Jolly Green Giants and the Shitty Beetles. Montreal based thrashers and 2014 Wacken Metal Battle Canada champions MUTANK are hitting the road for the following dates in Toronto, Ottawa and Sherbrooke in support of their latest album M.E.C.H. Metal, which is available on audio cassette and free digital download here .

In additional news, MUTANK recently announced new guitarist Jordan Kelly to their line up after co-founding member Steven “Steve-In” Breen decided to part ways with the band in January to return to his hometown of St. John’s, NL.
In a statement issued earlier by the band:
“The selection process wasn’t easy by any means. Breen was such an enormous presence, regarding one a of a kind writing style, a flawless, yet savage stage performance and overall possessing the ideal chemistry the band needed to grow and evolve.
We aren’t just musicians in this band, we clearly are lunatics with instruments, and we need the type who can juggle swords and laugh about their scars later.
Standing apart during initial auditions was Jordan Kelly, a previous band mate of front man Stephen “Steve Out” Reynolds, also hailing from Newfoundland who had relocated to Montreal to further his musical career.
Being well versed in many underground styles, with a proven road ready dedication and drive with musical ability to match, the band decided on Jordan even before Breen had left Montreal.
Keeping the “M.E.C.H. Metal” spirit as true as ever, MUTANK with our members current and past, are continuing to bust heads and wreak havoc on the scene.
We had a lot of interest shown when Breen had made his choice to split final, and to those who had came down to audition – we say TANK MU! We are honoured to have had such great energy from distinctly styled guitarists who had tried out.

Formed when three Newfoundlanders crossed paths in the Canadian heavy metal capital with Ahmed Saad who hails from the Middle East, the injection of music immediately began to flow through their veins and M.E.C.H. metal was soon born.
“It stands for Middle East Coast Heavy Metal; Our drummer being from the Middle East and the rest of the members being from the east coast of Canada,” explains Stephen Reynolds (bass, vocals).
It also just so happens to be the title of the band’s debut album ‘M.E.C.H. Metal’, which features eight monumental thrash tracks that will either make you want to punch something or just plain dance while delivering thoughtful, honest lyrics for those who wish to look deeper.
“Every single person in this band is a songwriter, so the songs come out with their own feel and develop naturally.’ continues Reynolds. ‘We don’t shackle ourselves to any kind of focused idea, which brings about a sort of honesty in the music not often found in metal.’

British Columbia’s indie music scene darlings Mr. Goshness are releasing a live video of their song ‘Resolutions’ recorded by Josh McNair and Greg Weller at Tiger Mountain Music. Filming took place the night of their cd release party and captured their pleasant on stage demeanor. Kaliandra gracefully breaks up the song to pick up the pace and lead viewers deeper into the music. ‘Resolutions’ is all about timing used in combination with every element of the band (Keyboard, guitar, and vocals) to showcase the complexity of the song.

About:
Initially never planning to release his music compositions beyond the borders of just song writing, freelance drummer / instructor Sean Lang was urged by his circle of musician friends whom heard his material to take his creativity to the next level.
The outcome is Seven Year Storm, which showcases Lang’s unique sound, music arrangements written entirely by him plus guitarist Dean Lamb (Archspire) whom handles all of the mind-bending guitar leads and solos. Everything comes together into songs that are tight and heavy, melodic and groovy, technical yet memorable.
To get these works of art off the studio floor, Lang launched an Indiegogo campaign (video can be viewed here) to raise the necessary investment to complete the first collection of songs, which will be released in 2015 as two EPs: Aion I and Aion II.

Some of Edmonton’s finest metal bands are teaming up with Revolver Productions to help raise money for Farmageddon 2015, Western Canada’s loudest open air metal festival that will be hosting its third annual edition from June 11-14 in Ryley, AB (80 KM East of Edmonton) with a line up of over 30 bands from across the country and beyond..
Last year’s festival saw Havok headline with a powerhouse line up that included Wretched, Sanktuary, Ironstorm, Psychotic Gardening, Death Toll Rising, Scythia, Kyoktys and many more.
The fundraiser will be taking place on February 27th at Rendez Vous in Edmonton. There will be ticket giveaways to the fest plus much more swag to win!
Presently Farmageddon is taking submissions from bands interested in performing at the festival at the following application link here. Deadline to apply is Feb 15, 2015. In addition, the festival is looking for volunteers. Applicants can apply here.

Farmageddon Open- Air was conceived in 2012 by Tyson Travnik whom is recognized in the Alberta metal scene through sound engineering duties and promotional services. After noticing the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, Travnik wanted to re-create the intimate setting and host a festival with no internal borders in the Edmonton area.
After two very successful years, Farmageddon Open Air has proven to be one of the most prestigious metal open-air festivals in Canada with quality production that has been highly regarded by bands and patrons alike. The costs of doing so are reflected in the ticket price with maximum attendance numbers not being something on the agenda. Keeping an intimate setting between the bands and their fans along with growth of the metal sub-culture to aid in promoting some of the hardest working bands in the country is at the forefront of Farmageddon’s priority.
Each year, the festival has hosted over 30 bands, with the request reaching as far as Europe and Asia. Farmageddon prides itself in only selecting the bands that the organizers feel have proven themselves worthy of the festival. This is not based on show attendance figures, but rather by judging the work ethic of the band throughout the previous year. With many new features and additions planned for Farmageddon 2015, organizers are pushing forward to double the attendance numbers from 2014.

For 2015, FARMAGEDDON is an ALL AGES event. The festival strongly suggests that patrons under the age of 18 be under supervision of a guardian over the age of 18. Adults will be issued separate wristbands permitting access to the licensed area. NO ACCESS WILL BE PERMITTED TO THE LICENSED AREA WITHOUT VALIDATION OF GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID! NO EXCEPTIONS!

Camping with tents is included with all festival pass purchases, however due to limited space, RV camping is very limited, and will be subject to a $80.00/night fee. The RV must be registered and the fee be paid using the following form, before the vehicle will be admitted into the grounds. About:
Initially never planning to release his music compositions beyond the borders of just song writing, freelance drummer / instructor Sean Lang was urged by his circle of musician friends whom heard his material to take his creativity to the next level.
The outcome is Seven Year Storm, which showcases Lang’s unique sound, music arrangements written entirely by him plus guitarist Dean Lamb (Archspire) whom handles all of the mind-bending guitar leads and solos. Everything comes together into songs that are tight and heavy, melodic and groovy, technical yet memorable.
To get these works of art off the studio floor, Lang launched an Indiegogo campaign (video can be viewed here) to raise the necessary investment to complete the first collection of songs, which will be released in 2015 as two EPs: Aion I and Aion II.

About: The Body Politic’s EP ‘Egressor’ was released September 16th to follow up their 2011 debut album ‘All Too Human’. Taking their name from a Clive Barker short story and shifting gears from jazz (which most of the members studied at Vancouver Island University) to progressive metal, the band combine poly-metric grooves, aggressive screams and soaring vocal melodies to push the boundaries of modern metal music with technically impressive musicianship. A band name inspired by Opeth lyric’s (thanks to drummer Ty Fox) and influenced by various genres ranging from melodic death to groove metal to progressive to rock n’ roll, AOA’s catalogue has grown rapidly with two self-releases in 2014.
