Autocatalytica is a bubbling cauldron of scatter-brained prog-metal insanity helmed by guitarist/vocalist Eric Thorfinnson. The newest release for the band “Powerclashing Maximalism” is due out this Friday, October 16th. For the full-length’s release day, Autocatalytica is unleashing the lyric video for the track “Borndun”.

The track is described by the band as “an obvious nod to Meshuggah, heavy, expansive and with just the right amount of weirdo groove, written generally about the current political situation.”.

Listen to “Borndun” via its premiere on SonicPerspectives HERE.

Formed as a solo project in 2009, as an expressive outlet for Thorfinnson’s abstract angst and penchant for everything over the top. Thorfinnson has always drawn inspiration from a vast collage of different artists resulting in a sound that is sure to surprise and intrigue listeners of all persuasions.

The LP “Powerclashing Maximalism” is the band third and it explores all corners of Autocatalytica’s sound in a tight 36-minute runtime over eight tracks, from the Meshuggah-esque stomp of “Borndun” to the Jazzy Math Rock of “Cheggo”. While at this time Autocatalytica exists solely as a recording project, no one knows what the future holds!

Thorfinnson’s comments on the album:

“‘Powerclashing Maximalism’ is an expression of the many different facets of progressive and heavy music I am engaging at this point in my life, with little to no regard for thematic consistency between tracks. Each song is a fully realized Island of uniqueness that expresses something totally different from the previous one. On the last record, I felt like I was really losing perspective with what was good and quality (especially in the vocal department) seeing as I did so much of it completely isolated. With this record I really wanted to move away from that mindset and integrate as many collaborators as possible to create a sort of “Broken Social Scene” of metal type vibe. This was a fantastically inspiring experience and I am really grateful for having been able to work with so many different amazing musicians throughout the process.”

For fans of Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, and Protest The Hero, “Powerclashing Maximalism” is available as of October 16th on Autocatalytica.bandcamp.com, Spotify, Apple Music.

“With a bewildering, cross-pollinated sound that makes The Dillinger Escape Plan sound like Nickelback, the math-metal crew Autocatalytica are pushing the boundaries so far that they may just fall off the world’s edge…  While the math-metal scene seems to have stayed in the same creative spot for the last 15 years, Autocatalytica’s music exists in its own psychotic realm, wherein jazz-tinged extremity and melodic mazes conjure a disorientating blur of psychedelic noise. The band have also earned themselves a formidable reputation as a truly mind-bending live act.” – Metal Hammer

“Crazy mathcore meets jazz-infused progressive music and avant-garde… Fabulously unique and always thrilling”- Metal Trenches

“Autocatalytica aren’t alone in bringing in so many outsides elements into a mathcore-focused sound, they are definitely one of the most ambitious and grandest groups I’ve heard do so to date.” – No Clean Singing

Without Mercy have an unrelenting new release coming out in November, and to properly prepare listeners for the rage within, they are releasing their music video for the single “Disinfect The Soul” today on October 7th.

The new release intends to give fans a new perspective on the band and their interpretation of world events. The listening experience per single is meant to be cathartic and concerning all at once while the album in its entirety will take the listener on a journey of self-discovery and self-analysis.

“Disinfect the Soul” is a vicious song whose lyrical content cannot be summarized. Listeners are strongly suggested to read the lyrics and make their own interpretations. This song went through many evolutions and rotations only to end up being shelved originally for the record. However, during pre-production, it was dusted off and a new found vigor among the band transformed it into this monstrous 7min adventure. Without Mercy goes into detail:

“The song features a guest solo by our good friend, Chris Broderick who ended up taking this to an entirely new level with his own interpretation of melody and context. It is one of our setlist favourites. It features a plethora of feel changes, riff changes, and even a blood-curdling outro. It will make the listener question standard composition.”

“Disinfect The Soul” can be heard and watched via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

Intelligent and complex, the new album as a whole is a journey and a soundscape that will paint the picture in the listener’s mind of every word and syllable.

Recommended for fans of Meshuggah, Whitechapel, and Pantera, “Seismic” will see the light of day on November 20, 2020.

“The thrash-stomp modes on “Worthless” ring like a head-on collision between DECAPITATED and BIOHAZARD with a dash of power metal thrown into the solo section. Alex Friis wrings his throat to huge extremes, hopefully leaving tissue intact as he hits agonizing squeals while throwing indictments against former band members — guess on your own who that might entail. DJ Temple’s guitar work on “Worthless” is terrific..” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Blabbermouth

“Vancouver’s Without Mercy is a prime example of how putting in a little bit of elbow grease can result in advantageous outcomes. The quartet play their brand of melodic, groove-laden death metal independently, but refuse to remain held back by a lack in the promotional and money machine backing departments. Over the course of a decade or so, the band has experienced the same highs and lows as most others, but their successes – which include a small handful of recordings, a bigger handful of tours, and appearances in video games – have been felt at a deeper clip because they’ve essentially managed everything themselves.”  (Mouchido EP 2016) – Decibel Magazine

“In a word, the music rips. And it also thunders, and punches so fast and hard that it’s like a jackhammer-sized nail gun ramming bolts into concrete at high speed while the operator howls and shrieks for all he’s worth, segmented by a start-stop breakdown that will give your skull a good rattling and lit up by swarming guitar flurries that are as fiery as the torches in the video (Burn).” (Mouchido EP 2016) – No Clean Singing

” the band live up to their name with each song on this 4 track EP going for straight for the throat; merciless aural violence and tight, technical proficiency melded with some serious might!” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Worship Metal

“Mouichido might only be a brief four songs and nineteen minutes long but, by the end of it, the Canadian death metal wrecking machine have left you in no doubt as to what they’re about.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – PureGrainAudio

“Right from the beginning you feel the weight and the immensity of Mouichido and one listen just doesn’t do it justice. This is a re-release of previously recorded material with a new vocalist and even so, Without Mercy comes out swinging again and knocks it clear out of the park.” (Mouchido EP 2016) – Cadaver Garden

“possibly the most savage song to ascend from the depths of the west in a good long while.” – Canadian Beats

Canada’s Without Mercy have their new album “Seismic” coming out in November and recently unleashed the first single “The Disaster” to throttle listeners around the world.

Teaming up with GuitarWorld today, guitarist DJ Temple is showcasing the shred on the track with the premiere of his playthrough that can be viewed HERE.

Temple adds:

“‘The Disaster’ was written to be unrelenting. Showing the best example of yourself under the worst conditions. Read the lyrics, they’ll get you there. I’m using my killer Schecter JL series on this track and running it down with Ernie ball strings and EMG 707’s. Then a single patch cable that runs to my kemper power rack and blasting through my EVH 4×12. Dunlop was my pick of choice on this record as well. Easter egg fans may notice a bracelet on my left hand which nods homage to an organization I’m proud of.”

The lyric video for “The Disaster” can also be viewed on YouTube.

Single download and stream are available on Apple Music, Spotify HERE.

Without Mercy’s forthcoming album “Seismic” is the fifth release from the band who have garnered praise from metal fans around the world for almost two decades. Unrelenting and diverse, this upcoming offering contains the most tracks to date on a single album from them. Regular listeners and uninitiate soon-to-be fans will adore the song structures, the complex rhythms and the overall diversity that makes up the album. “We really wanted to write something that didn’t slow down much or stop. We wanted to write something that would test the fatigue level of our musicianship. It asks many questions of the listener but will demand that you pay attention and read the lyric sheet. It’s a bold and aggressive track that offers our take on death metal in 2020.”

Autocatalytica is a bubbling cauldron of scatter-brained prog-metal insanity helmed by guitarist/vocalist Eric Thorfinnson. The newest release for the band is “Powerclashing Maximalism”, which is coming out on October 16th of this year. In anticipation of the release, Autocatalytica is releasing the single “Zippler” today via its premiere on TheProgSpace HERE.

Psychedelic variegated groovy maniacal ethereality is summed up by Thorfinnson in his own words:

“’Powerclashing Maximalism’ is an expression of the many different facets of progressive and heavy music I am engaging at this point in my life, with little to no regard for thematic consistency between tracks. Each song is a fully realized Island of uniqueness that expresses something totally different from the previous one.”

The single “Zippler” is a mix, pretty much right down the middle of Protest the Hero and the Mars Volta, it’s zippy, groovy, and it has got some chaos thrown in for good measure, written about the illusion of free will. It was a last-minute addition to the rehearsals and decided upon due to the need for something super fast to fill out the record. It features clean vocals from Parliament Owl’s and Telomere’s Devlin Flynn and screams from Plethora’s Gary Walsh.

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – May 26, 2020

For fans of Vildhjarta, Catacombs, Humanity’s Last Breath, Black Tongue, Meshuggah

Toronto Djent Doom Cryptonight Premiere Lyric Video ‘Abstersion’ via NoCleanSinging

Debut Album “The Black Ritual” Out Now!

Toronto “djoom” duo Cryptonight are sharing with fans their latest lyric video for their track ‘Abstersion’ in support of their debut album “Black Ritual” released this past April.

Check out the lyric video via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

Aiming to capture listeners in a very haunting manner, the debut album “The Black Ritual” evokes horror and malice in every riff and melody. All of the music on the full-length was recorded on an eight-string guitar tuned to Eb and is inspired by actual vivid nightmares experienced by members of Cryptonight at various points in their lives. It also includes references from games such as Bloodborne, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy and Diablo. The band shares their thoughts on the release:

“We each picked recurring nightmares that made an impression on us and put them together into a story about a dream world. Fans can expect this album to have a sequel, and to continue into the unforeseen future. Our lyrics are literally us telling stories of what happened in our personal nightmares, as descriptively as possible. It’s a collaboration of everything we love together into one sound to make for a deadly recipe. Dark and nightmarish whilst leaving an ambient and serene linger.”

Cryptonight has been cryptically hinting at this album by making a 20-episode web series on their YouTube channel, which included short instrumental preview clips of the songs on the release. The band hints at checking out those videos for an in-depth background on the music.

Join Cryptonight in a dream-like state full of horrors and feel the chill of these nightmares first hand. With the music and lyrics contributing in tandem to the same frightening experience, it’s a walk through the musical realms of djoom.

“If you dig the whole djent/thall thing, this is a must listen record. You won’t find many heavier albums in the genre, and when combined with the doom and ambient elements; the resulting atmosphere is pretty goddamn ominous. Give Cryptonight a listen today.” – Metal Trenches

Rockshots Records: Prog Metal DESOURCE Shares New Single “Sheepdogs” ft. Monuments Drummer Mike Malyan

New EP “Ambition” Coming September 4, 2020

Italian progressive metal band Desource have unleashed a lyric video for their new single “Sheepdogs” featuring Monuments drummer Mike Malyan. The track is taken from their forthcoming EP “Ambition” due out September 2020 via Rockshots Records.

Watch and listen to the lyric video HERE.

Spotify HERE.

Regarding the new single “Sheepdogs”, the band had this to say:

“‘Sheepdogs’ is one of the craziest and certainly heaviest songs on the whole EP. It involves unusual jazzy chords and insane patterns. It has been inspired by TDEP, Meshuggah, Decapitated but also ARCHITECTS and generally modern metalcore such as early Northlane. A short but deadly cocktail of different elements!”

After the release of the debut album “Dirty Happiness” (2013) and sharing the stage with acts such as ARCHITECTS, NORTHLANE, COMEBACK KID, PROTEST THE HERO, MONUMENTS, Desource returns with their 5 track EP “Ambition”, which features world-renown drummer Mike Malyan (MONUMENTS, DISPERSE, THE ALGORITHM) who has taken care of all the drums for the release.

Guitarist Edoardo Casini adds:

“‘Ambition’, as the title explains is a very ambitious record. It’s way more technical, progressive and dense than our debut album “Dirty Happiness”. It’s really a step forward in every direction both musically and lyrically. There are also so many genres combined in the songs such as Mathcore, Djent, Progressive Metal, Metalcore, Rock, Grind.”

“Ambition” will be released on September 4th, 2020 via Rockshots Records.

Guitar Playthrough Video of the first single “(S)Innocence” is available Youtube at the following link HERE.

Track Listing:
1. Disaster (6:02)

About:

DESOURCE arises from the ashes of the metalcore band MY SWEET NIGHTMARE, whose inception dates back in 2007, when all the original members were still under the age of 18, and progressively evolved over the years through numerous line-up and stylistic changes.

All the experiences collected by each member of the band, past and present, shaped the identity of the project, and obtaining inspiration by bands such as KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, POISON THE WELL, ARCHITECTS, DARKEST HOUR, DEFTONES, PERIPHERY, MESHUGGAH, a very balanced mixture of Metalcore, Progressive Metal, New School Hardcore, and Alternative Rock came out as a result: the sound of DESOURCE was born, and time was ready to work on a debut album.

After the release of the long-awaited debut LP “DIRTY HAPPINESS” via This Is Core Records in September 2013, which gained very positive feedback by reviewers and fans all over the country, the band has had the chance to share the stage with many important acts such as ARCHITECTS, STRAY FROM THE PATH, NORTHLANE, MORE THAN LIFE, COMEBACK KID, XIBALBA, PROTEST THE HERO, MONUMENTS, DESTRAGE, THE CONTORTIONIST, THE SAFETY FIRE, LIES OF NAZCA, HUMAN IMPROVEMENT PROCESS, along with many others.

Currently, the band decided to take some time off to assemble a new line up and to work on a new release, a 5 track EP called “Ambition”, produced by the band and features many guest artists starting with world-renown drummer Mike Malyan (MONUMENTS, DISPERSE, THE ALGORITHM) who has taken care of all the drums for the release.

0 Blackcast Premiere Music Video “The American Dream” via The Circle Pit

NEWS RELEASE

Montreal, QC – March 27, 2020

For fans of August Burns Red, Wage War, Currents, Meshuggah

Blackcast Premiere Music Video “The American Dream” via The Circle Pit

Blackcast, hailing from San Diego, California has a new single out, “The American Dream” complete with a video being premiered on The Circle Pit‘s Youtube channel HERE.

This single is proof that Blackcast is still able to bring the heavy sound and message that they have come to be known for. With a new lineup, they are continuing to deliver the breakdowns the fans love with added technical aspects and lyrics that are controversial and relatable. The band explains the theme behind the topical new single:

“Our new single, ‘The American Dream’ is about the struggles of immigrants and their journey in getting to the USA. You will hear about the struggles that one may experience during that hard journey that unfortunately gets overlooked sometimes.”

For fans of August Burns Red, Architects and As I Lay Dying, this is solid metalcore with a tinge of deathcore.

“The American Dream” is officially available for stream and download on Spotify and Apple Music.

About:

In 2015, in the heat of San Diego, USA, Blackcast started as a 6 piece band featuring two vocalists, 2 guitarists (Dany Khouli and Armand Guerra), a bassist (Hakeem Kelly) and a drummer (Richard Bocanegra). Along the way, there was a falling out with our first 2 vocalists and Blackcast became stagnant until the arrival of vocalist, Tyler Walters, who helped push the band to where it needed to go.

Blackcast was soon able to play alongside big bands such as Born of Osiris, Atilla, Hatebreed, Bleeding Through, Spite, and Bad Omens. For two years they played gig after gig and released two albums, their self-titled debut in 2016 and “Riches to Ruin” in 2017. After that album, life situations and creative differences saw the departure of all the members except for Bocanegra and Guerra. They were replaced by Montgomery Turel (guitar), Luis Perea (vocals), and Richard Orozco (bass).

The new lineup quickly released four banging singles “Against The World” (2018), “Buried Alive” (2019), “Brain Dead” (2019) and “The American Dream” (2020). They are on a roll and can’t wait to show that they are stronger than ever and ready to prove that they still can make ears bleed and heads bang!

Ambition is high, Blackcast has been zoning in on being heavy and dark with all the breakdowns you can handle, and then some. There is more in the works for this collaborative band; focusing on keeping their sound consistent and technical, fans can expect nothing but sheer energy delivered straight to their faces during performances.
